ON MY 2014 KIA SORENTO , THE PAINT HAS PEELED, IS PEELING SO BAD, THAT IT IS EMBARASSING TO EVEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS STARTED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO . AT THAT TIME, IT STARTED ON THE HOOD, OVER THE DRIVERS SIDE. TOOK IT TO THE KIA PLACE, AND THEY TRIED TO SAY IT WAS BECAUSE THE VANITY LIGHT MIRROR HAD BEEN LEFT ON OVER NIGHT. THE NEXT VISIT WAS WHEN IT WAS PEELING ALL OVER THE CAR. THEY OF COURSE SAID, IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT.
Bought this vehicle on 10/18/2017 it had 93,675 miles on it. As soon as it reached 100K it began to burn oil extremely quickly!!! It needs a new Engine, which KIA should have to replace!!!
AIR BAG LIGHT ON, HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF WHEN IN AUTO MODE WHEN I USE LEFT TURN SIGNAL STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS NOT WORKING OR WORK IMPROPERLY IE VOLUME CONTROL WILL CHANGE RADIO STATION OR ADVANCE TRACK ON MEDIA BACK UP CAMERA WILL BLACK OUT WHILE STILL IN REVERSE
IN LATE DECEMBER OF 2017 I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT MY CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE UPON ACCELERATION OF MORE THAN 55 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A SUSPENSION ANALYSIS TO PEP BOYS AT 3124 SEPULVEDA BLVD IN TORRANCE, CA AND THEY EVALUATED MY ISSUE. IT WAS DISCOVERED IN MY FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE WITH 115,000 MILES THAT THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE SHAFT WAS BROKEN AND WAS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE. AND ALSO THAT ON THE LEFT FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE THAT THE BOOT HAD LEAKED ALL THE GREASE OUT AND THAT ALL THE BOOTS AND THE AXLES REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE MECHANICS AT PEP BOYS TOLD ME THAT THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY ON THE KIA'S AND THAT THEY HAVE MORE ISSUES THAN MOST CAR MANUFACTURERS. I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT KIA MOTORS HAD HAD A KNOWN ISSUE WITH AXLE PROBLEMS IN THEIR 2014 SORENTOS. KMA HAS DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE DRIVE SHAFT OF AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY DEVELOP A CRACK IN THE AREA OF THE STUB AT THE WHEEL-END OF THE SHAFT. SHOULD THIS OCCUR, THE VEHICLE MAY LOSE POWER OR, IF THE DRIVER FAILS TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE MAY ROLL. THE VEHICLES HAVING THIS CONDITION ARE THE 2014 MODEL YEAR SORENTO 2.4-LITER FRONT-WHEEL-DRIVE (FWD) MODEL PRODUCED THROUGH MARCH 12, 2013. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN LATE MAY OF 2014 IT IS A 2.4 LITER FWD VEHICLE. I ALSO WENT ONLINE TO CHECK FOR KNOWN RECALLS AND NOTHING CAME UP NOR WAS I EVER NOTIFIED. I HAVE HAD NO ACCIDENTS OR OTHER ISSUES THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. KMA NEVER NOTIFIED ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE DRIVESHAFT WILL BE REPLACED. CONSEQUENTLY, I BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEAR THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING MY FRONT WHEEL DRIVE BOOT AND AXLE AT A COST OF $695.00. THIS COST SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAID FOR BY KIA
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND SUNROOF EXPLODED. NO CARS OR OVERPASS NEARBY AND NO OBJECT SEEN OR FOUND TO HAVE HIT SUNROOF. SUNROOF APPEARS TO HAVE EXPLODED OUTWARD AS THERE IS VERY LITTLE GLASS TRAPPED IN THE SUNROOF SCREEN WHICH WAS CLOSED WHEN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. WEATHER WAS A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW AND TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34 DEGREES.
WHILE REVERISING INTO A DRIVEWAY THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED LOW POWER, WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED FOR ADDITION POWER THERE A CLUNKING NOISE WHICH RESULTED FROM A BROKEN AXLE AND ENGINE MOUNTING POINT ON THE ENGINE ITSELF.
THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT KIA WON'T OWN UP TO. THE BATTERY IS CONSTANTLY DYING AFTER BEING CHECKED AND IS GOOD. LIGHTS CONSTANTLY GO OUT I HAVE REPLACED BREAK LIGHTS HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES IN LAST YEAR. THE AIRBAG PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DOES NOT GO OFF. THE STEERING PANEL DOES NOT CONTROL ALL FUNCTIONS. I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL LEAD TO FURTHER DIFFICULTIES WITH THIS VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE CAR IS MOVING PROCEEDS TO COME TO A CRAWL AND STOP I HAVE A VIDEO AND THE DEALERSHIP IS CLUELESS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES
AIR BAG FLASHING ON AND OFF , STERELING HAS A NOISE CLICKING
HEADLIGHTS IN DIM MODE ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AN NIGHT WITHOUT BEING A SAFETY HAZARD! THIS STARTED OVER 3 YEARS AGO AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. REPLACE BULBS BUT DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO TO IMPROVE LIGHTING.
THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK WHEN I PRESS THE KEY FOB, I'VE TRIED BOTH KEY FOBS AND THEY HAVE NEW BATTERIES. ONLY THE DRIVERS DOOR IS UNLOCKING ALL TIMES.
IN THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS I HAVE REPLACED MY BATTERY TWICE THE 1ST TIME I HAD MY TRUCK ABOUT 2.5YRS SO I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT BUT I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER REPLACING BATTERY WITHIN 3-4 MONTHS BATTERY WOULD DIE I WOULD GET A BOOST AFTER A FEW DAYS SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMS OUT OF WACK WHEN I USE LEFT TURN SIGNAL MY HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OFF UNTIL I TURN THE TURN SIGNAL OFF, ALSO MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WILL NOT OPERATE THE RIGHT FEATURE IE I WOULD HIT MUTE BUT IT WILL NOT MUTE BUT ACT AS IF IT IS THE VOLUME DOWN CONTROL AIR BAG LIGHT FOR PASSENGER WOULD COME ON EVEN IF NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT
THREE YEARS AGO WHEN OUR KIA WAS AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES THE PAINT WHICH IS PEARL WHITE, AROUND THE WINDSHIELD STARTING PEELING OFF AND SINCE THEN HAS PEELED OFF IN MULTIPLE AREAS EXPOSING THE BARE METAL LEADING TO RUST. THE FORMING AROUND THE WINDSHIELD IS CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO WEAKEN. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER KIAS WITH THE SAME ISSUE OF PAINT PEELING AROUND THE WINDSHIELD AND AM AFRAID THAT THE PAINT USED FOR PEARL WHITE KIAS WAS DEFECTIVE.
KIA HAS LOTS OF ISSUES WITH THEIR AIR BAGS. FROM CLOCK SPRING TO SENSORS IN THE DRIVER SIDE AND SO ON. COMPANY DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF IT AND COMING UP WITH CRAZY ESTIMATES TO FIX, PLEASE JUST SEE HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE ON GOOGLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND KIA NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF IT WITHOUT A CHARGE UNTIL THEY FIX THEIR AIR BAG PROBLEMS.
THE REAR HATCH DOOR WILL NOT OPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF EXPLODED. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE PRIOR TO THE EXPLOSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEV KIA OF FRAMINGHAM IN FRAMINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS WHERE IT WAS ASSUMED THAT A ROCK MAY HAVE STRUCK THE GLASS AND CAUSED THE EXPLOSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,000.
HAD SOME RAIN COME THROUGH, I GOT IN MY CAR AND NOTICED THAT THE SEATS WERE DAMP AND THE DASHBOARD WAS DAMP AS WELL. SO I DID A LITTLE INVESTIGATION, LOOKED ON TOP MY ROOF , AND IT APPEARED THAT PART OF THEPANARAMIC SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ROCKS HIT MY CAR, I LITERALLY DRIVE MY CAR FROM HOME TO WORK. I HAVEN'T HAD THIS CAR MORE THAN 3 MONTHS IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION WITH ALL THE DINGS AND WHISTLES SO TO SPEAK AND ONLY 58,000 MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT IT USED. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW ON EARTH THIS COULD SHATTER OUT OF NO WHERE? I JUST HAD TO PAY A $500.00 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE, FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T CAUSE TO MY CAR. I AM GLAD THE WHOLE THING DIDN'T SHATTER WITH ME AND MY CHILD IN THE CAR.
THE RIGHT HAND SIDE PASSENGER DOOR PANEL HAS COME AWAY FROM THE DOOR FRAME AND NOW THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS FIRST REPAIRED BY KIA WHEN I LEASED THE CAR AND THE SAME PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED BUT THEY WILL NOT MAKE THE REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED, INDICATING A POSSIBLE FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (FRANKLIN KIA IN FRANKLIN, TN) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
I HAD THIS CAR FOR ONE YEAR AND I HAVE REPLAY THE LIGHTS 7 SEVEN TIMES AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHY. WHEN I'M DRIVING AT NIGHT I HAVE TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS IN ORDER TO SEE SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ASAP. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND MY KIDS EVERYDAY WHEN WE GET IN THIS UNSAFE CAR. I PURCHASED A 2014 KIA SORENTO LX BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. I HAVE MAINTAINED ALL NECESSARY WORK AND MOSTLY DONE AT AUTHORIZED DEALERS. IN MAY 2017 WHILE DRIVING HOME MY INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT OUT. UNABLE TO SEE SPEED, SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS, GAS ETC... I TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT KIA SERVICE LOCATIONS TO TRACE PROBLEM. THEY FOUND A WIRE SHORTED TO GROUND ON THE TRAILER HITCH WIRING WHICH CAME WITH VEHICLE. THEY CUT THE WIRES TO TRAILER HARNESS AND THIS ISSUE ALSO DAMAGED MY REMOTE STARTER. THEY REPLACED THE BLOWN FUSE WITH A LARGER FUSE AND SAID IT WAS ALL SET. HOWEVER IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON 09/29/17. THIS TIME WHEN I PARKED MY CAR AND TRIED TO START AGAIN, IT WOULDN'T COME OUT OF PARK SO I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW BUT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX THIS ISSUE WHICH IS OVER $3,000 TO FIX. THERE IS A FEW FEET OF BURNED AND MELTED WIRING THAT I HAVE PICTURES OF, UNSURE OF EXACT WIRING, BUT IT CONNECTED TO THE WIRING TRAILER HITCH HARNESS. IT WAS APPARENTLY CLOSE TO CATCHING ON FIRE. SINCE I OWNED THE VEHICLE OTHER ODD ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED, INCLUDING BLOWN HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON ABOUT 8 OCCASIONS. I ONLY FOUND ONE RECALL RELATING TO THE TRAILER HITCH WIRING HARNESS #16V862000 HOWEVER IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY YEAR VEHICLE. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AND SAFETY CONCERN THAT KIA NEEDS TO RESEARCH FURTHER FOR POSSIBLE OTHER RECALLS.
THE PAINT ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM DAY 1 PRACTICALLY, AND KIA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS. WE TAKE GREAT CARE IN OUR CARS AS WE KEEP THEM FOR THE LIFE OF THEM, AND THUS KEEP IT MOSTLY GARAGED WHEN NOT IN USE, AND ESPECIALLY DURING ANY POTENTIALLY ADVERSE WEATHER. FROM DAY 1, ANY HARD BUG, TINY PEBBLE, ETC WOULD CASE THE PAINT ON THE BUMPER TO CHIP OFF AND SUBSEQUENTLY CRACK AND FLAKE. PROBLEMS SEEMED TO HAPPEN EVEN IF WE HADNT DRIVEN IT. AS THE WHITE ONE WE OWN HAS A BLACK PLASTIC UNDERBODY, IT CONSTANTLY LOOKS LIKE OUR CAR IS BUGGY/DIRTY AND HAS ACNE. UPON TAKING TO THE DEALER, AROUND MONTH 4, THEY GAVE ME A PAINT PEN TO HANDLE IT, SAYING IT WASNT EBOUGH OF A PROBLEM. AS IT WAS ONLY ON THE PLASTIC BUMPER, I CHALKED IT UP TO "JUST THERE." NOW, AT 4 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, AFTER 1 LONG CAR TRIP IN THE RAIN (ABOUT 13 HOURS OF DRIVING) THE PAINT ON THE TOP METAL ROOF IS PEELING LIKE TIGER STRIPES AND ITS BEGINNING TO ALONG THE EDGES WHERE THE DOORS MEET THE BODY AND THE HOOD. KIA, EVEN AFTER THEIR DEALER RECCOMMENDED LOCAL PAINT REPAIR SHOP, STATE FARMS INSPECTORS, AND THE LOCAL DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAVE ALL INSPECTED IT, ARE CONTINUING TO DENY THE PAINT DEFECT, AFTER ALL THOSE ENTITIES HAVE CONFIRMED IT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. NOW, IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE ON THE HOOK FOR OVER $5000+ TO REPAIR THE PAINT BECAUSE WE ARE NOW OUTSIDE OF THEIR WARRANY PERIOD. ITS AWFUL OF KIA TO ADVERTISE A 10YEAR/100K WARRANTY WHILE NOT MATCHING THE INDUSTRY AVERAGE 10YEAR/100K MILE PAINT WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT MY FAMILIES FIRST KIA, BUT THIS EXPERIENCE IS MAKING US RETHINK OUR LOYALTY, AND IT MAY BE OUR LAST KIA.
I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE THE SURE BAG LIGHT WAS ON. SHORTLY AFTER, I RECIEVED SOMETHING IN THE MAIL FROM KIA ABOUT THE AIR BAG RECAPS SO I TOOK IT IN. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY VIN WASN'T COVERED. THEY SAID THE PASSENGER SIDE BAG IS WHAT I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH SO THEY TURNED OFF THE AIR BAGS AND I'VE BEEN DRIVING WITH NO AIR BAGS FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS BECAUSE THEY SAID I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. IT'S $1400 AND MY WARRANTY HAD JUST RUN IT OUT.
I HAVE A PEARL WHITE 2014 KIA SORRENTO PURCHASED IN APRIL OF 2017 WITH AROUND 70,000 MILES ON IT IT HAD NOT A SCRATCH OR DENT. AROUND 9/2017 AT AROUND 80,000 MILES, I STARTED NOTICING SMALL CHIPS OF PAINT MISSING. IT WAS PEELING AND DELAMINATING FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THEY HAVE EVOLVED INTO VERY LARGE SPOTS OF CHIPPED PAINT AND RUSTING ON TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, ON THE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND ON THE HOOD. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THINNING PAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR.
VEHICLE FREQUENTLY WILL NOT START AND A MESSAGE POPS UP SAYING: " BATTERY DISCHARGE WARNING" "PLEASE USE THE SYSTEM WHEN THE IGNITION IS ON". IT TAKES ANYWHERE BETWEEN 10-20 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR FINALLY STARTS. KIA SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY.
HESITATES UPON ACCELERATION. ENGINE STALLS AND CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. LACK OF POWER. KNOCKING NOISE FROM ENGINE. I MADE REPEATED CONTACT WITH MANAHAWKIN KIA AND KIA MOTORS AMERICA, INC., CASE NO. 12960528 WITH NO RESULTS. AT RISK FOR DEATH AND SERIOUS INJURY.
KIA SORENTO OWNER FOLLOW-UP LETTER ON SAFETY RECALL. *BF UPDATED 09/26/2017*JS
MY CAR STARTING TO BEGIN TO SHOW LACK OF POWER AT FIRST, WHICH I HAD MENTIONED IN ADVANCE IN SERVICE APPOINTMENTS. TWO DAYS BEFORE MY ONE YEAR OF OWNING IT, THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL OUT WHEN I STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC LIGHTS WITHIN THE SAME DAY A OIL LIGHT WARNING FLASHED, AND THE CAR STARTED TO HAVE A KNOCKING NOISE. I WENT AND ADDED TWO QUARTS OF OIL. ONCE THE OIL LIGHT DISAPPEARED BUT THE KNOCKING CONTINUED . I TOOK THE CAR TO MY REGULAR KIA SERVICE PROVIDER THE SAME DAY AND IN THE PROCESS OF GOING THERE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT DAY, THE ATTENDANT TOLD ME THAT HE COULD HEAR THE KNOCKING, WHICH SOUNDED CONCERNING. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THE NEXT DAY AS INSTRUCTED AND WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK IT UP AT END OF DAY. TIME PASSED BY AND IT WAS GETTING LATE TOWARDS CLOSING, SO I CALLED THE SHOP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINES HAD SEIZED AND THAT THE OIL BAY WAS DRY. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SOMETHING HAPPEN SO FAST. I HAD NO WARNING OF ANY KIND OF OIL ISSUES UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE, AND I HAD BEEN TAKING THE CAR IN FOR IT'S REGULAR SERVICES. THE CAR WAS IN THE KIA SERVICE SHOP, AND MOVED BY THEM. IT WAS RUNNING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN BUT I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE ENGINE IS SHOT.
KIA SAFETY RECALL (#17V224) I HAD PREVIOUSLY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA REGARDING AN ENGINE FAILURE. PLEASE SEE COMPLAINT #10993259. THE PURPOSE OF THIS COMPLAINT IS A FOLLOW-UP TO THE PREVIOUSLY FILED COMPLIANT. AS YOU ARE AWARE, KIA FAILED TO TIMELY NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS THAT THEIR VEHICLE MAY HAVE AN ENGINE DEFECT. AS YOU WILL SEE FROM MY PREVIOUSLY FILED COMPLAINT, I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST ENGINE FAILURE ON APRIL 1, 2017. BETWEEN APRIL 1ST AND MAY 31ST, I HAD EXPERIENCED THREE TOTAL FAILURES. HOWEVER, AS A RESULT OF THE APRIL 1ST FAILURE, I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT MIDAS. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL RECALL AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME. THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE TIMING GEAR AND CLEANED THE ENGINE, BUT INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE WORK. THE COST FOR THESE SERVICES WAS $1,488.50. I ALSO NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TIMING SOLENOIDS (I DID NOT HAVE THIS DONE AT MIDAS AT THE TIME BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY). I PURCHASED THESE AT AUTO ZONE FOR $123.42. THEY WERE INSTALLED BY A DIFFERENT MECHANIC AT THE COST OF $125. ONCE THE INTERIM RECALL INFORMATION WAS DISSEMINATED, IN JUNE, AND ONCE I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK, WHICH WAS JUNE 25TH, AFTER HAVING THE ENGINE REPLACED, I FILED A CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT. KIA HAS DENIED PAYMENT BECAUSE THEY STATE THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPLACED AS PER THEIR "LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENTION." I LATER APPEALED AND THE REPRESENTATIVE LEFT ME A VOICE MESSAGE (THAT I STILL POSSESS) WHICH STATES THAT IT WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPLACED AND THE WORK WAS NOT DONE BY KIA. PROBLEM: IF I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL AT THE TIME OF FAILURE, WHY AM I BEING PENALIZED FOR THEIR FAULTY ENGINE? ADDITIONALLY, THE REIMBURSEMENT IS NOT UNDER A WARRANTY PROGRAM BUT IT IS FOR A SAFETY RECALL. WHY AM I BEING PENALIZED. KIA NEEDS TO PUT FORTH A GOOD FAITH EFFORT AND MAKE ITS CUSTOMERS WHOLE.
After about 59,000 miles I noticed that the paint on my vehicle began to bubble and chip then rapidly began peeling off. Over the years this has gotten progressively worse and has now moved to different parts of the vehicle. I have included images of the vehicle and all of the locations it is peeling. I also included an image of water pooling between the paint and vehicle. This is a great concern as my vehicle is still is continuing to peel and the entire paint job is now compromised and leading to rust and damage to the body. The various parts of the vehicle that are peeling are the roof, the driver and passenger sides above the windows, as well as now the diver's side fender. Pretty soon my entire vehicle is no longer going to be white but rather be rust colored. This is unacceptable and needs to be fixed as this is not normal for a vehicle's paint to peel this quickly and in giant pieces.

HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE NO ONE IS CONTACTING ME FROM KIA.

HAD THERE BEEN ANOTHER CAR TO MY RIGHT, I WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE HIT IT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I BROUGHT MY SORENTO TO A STOP AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. I AM UNSURE WHICH CAME FIRST, THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING OR THE ENGINE STOPPING. LATER THAT DAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL KIA SERVICE FACILITY WHERE NO PROBLEM(S) COULD BE FOUND. I WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF MY SORENTO AT THE TIME OF THIS FIRST INCIDENT. 2ND OCCURRENCE: ON JULY 27, 2017, AT ABOUT 2:00 P.M., I MADE A RIGHT TURN ON A CITY STREET IN LAS CRUCES, NM. IMMEDIATELY AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN AND JUST BEGINNING TO MOVE STRAIGHT AHEAD AT ABOUT 30 MPH, I ONCE AGAIN LOST MY POWER STEERING. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT, ONCE AGAIN USING BRUTE FORCE TO STEER. THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING WHEN I BROUGH MY SORENTO TO A STOP, BUT I WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE SAME KIA SERVICE FACILITY. NO PROBLEMS COULD BE FOUND THIS TIME EITHER. THOUGH I AM NOT 100 PERCENT CERTAIN, I BELIEVE THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER PRECEDED THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MY WIFE WAS WITH ME WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED.

REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH SINCE DIAGNOSTICS WAS SHOWING A HISTORY. ALSO FIXED A RECALL ITEM (REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR) WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR. TOOK CAR HOME AND THAT EVENING IT WOULD NOT START. PERFORMED THE WORK AROUND AND IT STARTED. IT HAS BEEN WITH THE DEALER 7 DAYS NOW AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. CLAIMED THEY OPENED A TECH LINE BUT WHEN I CALLED KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO OPEN MY OWN FILE CASE I WAS TOLD THEY SHOW NO RECORD OF A TECH LINE BEING OPENED. MY CONSUMER AFFAIRS CASE NUMBER IS 12421090. I HAVE NOW EMAILED THE GM, SERVICE MANAGER AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR AFTER HAVING NO COMMUNICATION FROM THEM AT ALL FOR THE LAST WEEK. MY REARVIEW CAMERA WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. (IT DOESNT WORK MORE THAN IT ACTUALLY WORKS). THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL ARE SCRAMBLED EX. I PREE THE VOLUME UP OR DOWN, AND THE VOICE COMMAND ACTIVATES, I CAN'T EVEN MUTE THROUGH THE BUTTONS ETC. HAD OIL CHANGED ON THURSDAY. WENT ON TRIP ON FRIDAY. ON SATURDAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED ACTING LIKE IT WASN'T GEARING UP GOING UP A HILL. ON SUNDAY, IT WAS LOSING POWER GOING UP HILLS. HAD TO TAKE FOOT OFF EXCELLOATOR AND PAT IT AND THEN HOLD IT DOWN TO GET UP TO 70MPH. USING A LOT OF GAS FROM 25 MILES PER GALLON TO 14 MPG. COULDN'T DRIVE OVER 65 ON THE WAY HOME. TOOK IT TO DEALER. HE SAID OIL WAS 2.5 QRTS LOW EVEN THOUGH I JUST HAD IT CHANGED. THEY CHECKED THE RECALL AND OIL AND GAS FILTERS BUT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOW IT WILL ONLY GO 40 MPH. THEY ARE CONFUSED AND CALLING KIA MASTER MECHANIC. THE RECALL STATES THIS EXACT THING HAPPENING BUT THEY SAY IT IS NOT THE RECALL.

THE FIRST TIME OCCURRED DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A RURAL ROAD AND THE SECOND WHILE GOING AROUND A SLIGHT BEND ON A RURAL ROAD. THE WHEELS LOCKING UP SUDDENLY ON THE SECOND DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE GOING DOWN HILL ON A STRAIGHT ROAD TRAVELING AT LESS THAN TEN MILES PER HOUR WHILE TRYING TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION TO PULL OVER. I TRAVELED LESS THAN 1 MILE FROM WHEN THE INITIAL NOISE WAS HEARD. IT WAS RAINING AND THE VEHICLE SLID SLIGHTLY SIDEWAYS WHEN THE WHEELS LOCKED UP. HAD I BEEN DRIVING FASTER AN ACCIDENT LIKELY WOULD HAVE OCCURRED.

I PICKED UP THE CAR ON APRIL 28TH FROM MONROEVILLE KIA FOR SOME WARRANTY WORK ON THE OIL PAN AND TIMING BELT COVER. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, THE CAR STARTED SMOKING AND I COULD SMELL OIL BURNING. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THEM. I TURNED AROUND AND STARTED HEADING BACK THERE. I MADE IT ABOUT A MILE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP, I NOTICED FLAMES CREEPING UP BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND REMOVED THE KEYS, AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR. WITHIN 30 SECONDS OR SO THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I HAD ALREADY STARTED CALLING 911 TO REPORT THE FIRE. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP WITHIN 6 MINUTES, BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE CAR WAS ON THE SIDE OF A MAIN ROAD. THE CAR WAS TOWED AS PER MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY WERE SENDING AND INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK TO DETERMINE A CAUSE. THE CAR WAS A COMPLETE LOSS, INCLUDING EVERYTHING INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS INCLUDED KIDS SPORTS EQUIPMENT, TOYS, CAR SEATS, CLOTHES, BOWLING EQUIPMENT, ETC. THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE IN 3.5 WEEKS IS THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I'M UNSURE IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CURRENT RECALL OF 17V224000 DEALING WITH THE MOTOR AT THIS TIME. I'M AWAITING WORD FROM KIA MOTORS INC. ABOUT ANY INVESTIGATION THEY MAY WANT TO DO.
Purchased 2014 Pearl White KIA Sorento LX 4/2014. 4/2017 - paint bubbled and chipped on left A pillar. Dealer repaired paint under warranty. 12/2018 - paint continued to bubble and chip on hood and roof. Took to dealer but told would not cover under warranty. Complaint not noted on invoice 7/2020 - paint repaired on left A pillar in 2017 started chipping again. 1/2022 - 13"x3.5" paint section on right A pillar came off. Paint chipping on roof racks. 6/2022 - right front fender bubble and chip. Dealer/Service center - Southwest KIA Round Rock has repaired and looked a paint issue as noted above. The areas where the paint has chipped and not repaired by KIA is rusting due to metal exposure to environmental elements. The rust will weaken the body of the vehicle if not repaired immediately. No warning or messages for this problem.

WHEN WE RETURNED HOME FROM CHURCH, WE HEARD A RATTLING NOISE AND OPENED THE PANEL AND SAW THE ENTIRE BACK PANEL IS SHATTERED WITH PIECES OF GLASS SHARDS IN THE BACK SEAT. LOOKING AT THE TOP OF THE CAR THE GLASS WAS ACTUALLY SEPARATING FROM THE FRAME WHICH COULD NOT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY ROCK, HAIL OR ANYTHING ELSE BUT FAULTY MANUFACTURING. I CONTACTED KIA GROSSINGER DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING IN THE CAR FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AND DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I ADVISED THEM FOR SAFETY REASONS I WOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR AND WOULD BE WILLING FOR THEM TO PICK IT UP AND GET A LOANER. THEY ADVISED THIS WASN'T FEASIBLE. I THEN CALLED KIA CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY HAVE TAKEN MY CLAIM K3444320 TO ADDRESS THE DEALERSHIP'S INABILITY TO DETERMINE CAUSE, REIMBURSE THE GLASS DEALER THROUGH THE WARRANTY AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT AND DO A RECALL.
