I HAVE A 2014 KIA PEARL WHITE THAT HAS MAJOR PAINT PEELING ON DRIVERS/PASSENGER DOOR PANELS & HOOD. THIS ISSUE CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. I HAD THIS CAR FOUR YRS & IT STARTED AFTER THE FIRST YR. CONTINUES TO GET WORSE.
FOR ABOUT A YEAR MY CAR WOULD STALL WHEN I WOULD TURN. IT WOULD HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE MORE FREQUENT THAN OTHERS. THEN LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING AND THE ENGINE CUT OFF AGAIN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER AND PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART START THE CAR AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IF I WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED IT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
CAR IS USING TO MUCH OIL, HAD OIL CHANGE DONE A WEEK AGO, CHECKED OIL AGAIN. CAR HAS DROPPED A QUART OF OIL. DO NOT SEE ANY LEAKS, AND WHEN STOPPED, AND PRESS ON EXCELARATOR TO GO CAR ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF, AND ALOT OF SMOKE COME OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE.
ON APRIL 1ST, THE ENGINE ON MY VEHICLE FAILED. I HAD IT TOWED TO MIDAS FOR REPAIR. THE MECHANICS INFORMED ME OF EXCESSIVE SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE THAT RESULTING IN THE TIMING GEAR AND TIMING SOLENOIDS FAILING. ON APRIL 7TH, I LEARNED THAT KIA WAS RECALLING SPECIFIC MAKES AND MODELS FOR ENGINE FAILURE THROUGH A FRIEND. UPON INVESTIGATION ONLINE, I SAW SEVERAL STORIES PUBLISHED ABOUT THE INFORMATION. SUBSEQUENTLY, I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. SINCE PURCHASE, I MOVED OUT OF STATE. I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT THE NEAREST DEALER, WHICH I DID. I HAD EXPECTED A RETURN CALL, BUT NEVER RECEIVED ONE. I ALSO CONTACTED KIA DIRECTLY. THEY INFORMED ME THAT A RECALL NOTICE WOULD BE SENT TO MY HOME THE WEEK OF MAY 19TH (KEEP IN MIND IT IS APRIL 7TH). NONETHELESS, MIDAS REPLACED THE TIMING GEAR AT APPROXIMATE $1,500 AND ANOTHER MECHANIC REPLACED THE SOLENOIDS AT $175 PLUS PARTS. HE ALSO NOTED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL KIA DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT. WHEN I EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THERE WAS AN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE, SHE ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS ONLY A BULLETIN AND TO BRING THE CAR IN TO BE INSPECTED. THE NEXT WEEK, WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A CAR WITH AN 18-WHEELER COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, THE ENGINE FAILED. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAS BEEN EVER SINCE. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY WERE WORKING WITH KIA BECAUSE I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR, AND THEY ASKED FOR SERVICE RECORDS. I DID EXPLAIN THAT I DID NOT HAVE A COMPLETE RECORD OF OIL CHANGES. SEE ATTACHED EMAIL. I WAS INFORMED TODAY THAT KIA HAS DENIED MY CLAIM. THE DEALER IS ATTEMPTING TO GET THE DISTRICT MANAGER TO PUSH FOR APPROVAL.
I RECEIVED A MANUFACTURE RECALL NUMBER SC147 NOTICE FROM KIA. AS OF TODAY 7/3/2017. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPAIR NOTICE FROM KIA FOR THE REPAIRS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER (THE KIA STORE, 5325 PRESTON HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40213, (888) 214-1809) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN THE DEALER REPLACING THE PART. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD TWO KEYS AND THE DEALER LATER PROVIDED ONE KEY, STATING THAT THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR THE SECOND KEY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PAINT ON MY 2014 KIA SORENTO JUST STARTED BUBBLING UP AND PEELING OFF IN LARGE SWATHS ALL OVER THE ROOF, DOORS, HOOD, ECT. IT HAS NOW STARTED RUSTING EXTREMELY BAD ON THE ROOF AND AROUND THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD.
I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER #17V224 ON MY KIA. I RECENTLY TOOK IT BACK TO THE KIA DEALSHIP I LEASED IT FROM AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT RAN A TEST ON IT AND CHANGED THE OIL WHICH WAS CHANGED IN APRIL. I WAS ADVISE I NEED TO BUY A CABIN AIR FILTER OF $60.00. WHICH I CAN'T AFFORD BECAUSE I'M ON SHORT TERM ON MY JOB.I HAVE COMPLAIN ABOUT RATTLE NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND SOUNDS FROM THE BEARING OR AXLE. I LATELY BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH AIR BLOWING AND ONLY ONE AUX PLUG WORK. I ALWAYS HAVING TO GET TIRES FIX AND AIRED UP. MY SISTER WAS KILLED LAST YEAR IN A SUV THAT HAD A RECALL ON IT SAME AS MY KIA DOES AND THIS KINDY HAVE ME NERVOUS OF DRIVING MY KIA BUT THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION. I ASKING FOR ANY HELP TO RESOLVE THIS I MAKE MY PAYMENTS AND NEED A RELIABLE RIDE FOR ME AND MY KIDS AND MOTHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BEGAN TO WOBBLE WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE OR GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER SEAT FRAME FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.
JANUARY 5, 2017, I WAS ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY IN WASHINGTON HEADED HOME FROM A DAY OF SHOPPING AND MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. I WAS 3 EXITS FROM MY HOME WHEN I HEAD A LOUD BANG LIKE A GUN SHOT. I SWERVED BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS A TIRE OR MY WINDSHIELD. BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY I HEARD AND SAW THAT THE CLOTH COVER OVER MY SUNROOF WAS SHAKING AND SLAPPING AGAINST THE WIND. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CHECKED MY SUN ROOF. MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED! THERE WAS NOT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR NEXT TO ME AND I KNOW NOTHING HAD HIT IT. MY SUN ROOF RANDOMLY EXPLODED! I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP. THE TECHNICIAN TRIED TO TELL ME AND SHOW ME WHERE HE SAID A ROCK HAD HIT IT. HE STUCK HIS PEN INTO A STARBURST AND TRIED TO TELL ME THAT A ROCK HAD HIT ME.
I AM REPORTING MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODING ON MY 2014 KIA SORENTO SXL. I WAS DRIVING ON A VERY SMOOTH INTERSTATE HIGH WAY IN THE MORNING WITH NO TRAFFIC AROUND ME. I WAS TRAVELING AT 70MPH AND IT WAS MORNING ABOUT 60 DEGREES. I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH MY WIFE AND HEARD A LOUD SOUND (SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT) AND THEN IT STARTED RAINING DOWN GLASS AROUND ME. AS I STATED, I WAS ON THE ROAD AND THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER VEHICLE AROUND ME. ONCE I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO INSPECT WHAT HAD HAPPENED I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS MOST OF MY SUNROOF INSIDE THE CAR AND THE REST OF THE GLASS THAT REMAINED WAS FACING UPWARD WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD. *TR
CAR WILL NOT LOCK DOORS WITH LOCK SWITCH IN FRONT DOORS AND WITH KEY FOB. THIS STARTED IN JUNE OF 2016 ON AND OFF CAR HAS BEEN TO CONCORD KIA 2 TIMES NOW IN THE LAST 4 YEARS IT WOULD LOCK ON AND OFF NOW ITS ALL THE TIME NOT WORKING AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T GET IT TO NOT WORK, WE HAVE READ THAT THIS IT AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF MODELS AND YEARS WITH KIA CARS, WE WERE TOLD IT COULD BE A BODY CONTROL MODULE COST IS ANY WERE FROM $800.00 TO OVER $1000.00 FOR REPAIRS
RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE. NO DETERMINATION AS TO WHAT IT IS.
NIGHTTIME DRIVING WITH THIS VEHICLE IS HORRIBLE. WHILE A WELL-LIT INTERSTATE MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE AN ISSUE, DARK ROADWAYS (RURAL, DARK INTERSTATES, SOME URBAN STREETS) ARE. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL BLOW RANDOMLY BLOW WITHIN AS FEW AS SOME DAYS AFTER REPLACEMENT TO A MONTH AFTER REPLACEMENT. THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY USES PROJECTOR LENSES. HOWEVER, THE LIGHT DOES NOT PROJECT. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE HEADLIGHTS RESPOND BY PROJECTING A SCATTERED BEAM THAT BARELY ILLUMINATES THE ROADWAY. CHEAP WALMART FLOOD LIGHTS DO A BETTER JOB THAN THESE PROJECTOR LENSES. I TRIED USING LEDS TO GET MORE LIGHT. WHILE THE MISSION WAS TECHNICALLY ACCOMPLISHED, THE BEAM PATTERN IS STILL SCATTERED. I DETAIL CARS AND THE PLASTIC COVER IS NOT THE ISSUE. MY STATE LAW TELLS ME THAT MY HEADLIGHTS SHOULD ILLUMINATE A PEDESTRIAN 400 FEET AWAY DURING NIGHTTIME HOURS. THESE LIGHTS DO NOT DO THIS. MY FUNCTION AS A POLICE OFFICER IS THAT OF A TRAFFIC CRASH INVESTIGATOR (WITH EXTENSIVE NHTSA TRAINING SPANNING FROM SFST THROUGH ADVANCED TRAFFIC CRASH) AS WELL AND THESE HEADLIGHTS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO ANIMAL/PEDESTRIAN STRIKES AS THEY DO NOT PROJECT THE LIGHT WHERE IT IS NEEDED. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF KIA FORUMS TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THING ACROSS MANY DIFFERENT MODELS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL THAT REPLACES THE GROUND WIRE AND THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY TO PROJECT THE LIGHT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE. THESE LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUS. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THESE VEHICLES (SUCH AS THE BRAKE LIGHTS GOING OUT COMPLETELY FOR NO RANDOM REASON OR THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINING ILLUMINATED WITHOUT APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE) BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE WE PURCHASED IT IN 2016. THIS VEHICLE HAS A POOR IIHS RATING FOR SMALL OVERLAP CRASHES. THE LIGHTS DON'T ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY WELL ENOUGH WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY.
We purchased 2014 Kia Sorento, within the first year it began experiencing “Rapid delamination and paint peeling” on the hood, roof and bumper of our Pearl white Kia Sorento. I have talked with the dealership at every visit and have made many complaints to management. We were advised to contact customer service at Kia.
GOT A LETTER FROM KIA STATING THAT THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BEARINGS AND RODS IN THEIR 2012-2014 2.4L GDI MOTORS, THEY ARE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE MOTOR SLUNG A ROD AND IS NOW TRASH. TOWED IT TO SONS KIA IN MCDONOUGH, GA, THEY CONFIRMED THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY AND KNEW THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. IN FACT THERE ARE 9 OTHERS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT WITH BLOWN MOTORS IN FRONT OF MINE AND THEY CAN'T EVEN BUILD THE NEW MOTORS FAST ENOUGH TO MEET THE DEMAND (THEY'RE ON BACK ORDER). THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO PRODUCE RECEIPTS FOR OIL CHANGES, FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR. I BOUGHT IT USED AND HAVE ONLY PUT ABOUT 20,000 MILES ON IT (66,000 TOTAL). I CHANGED THE OIL MYSELF AND DIDN'T THINK ABOUT HANGING ONTO THE RECEIPTS. I WAS ABLE TO PRODUCE ONE RECEIPT AND ALL MY BANK STATEMENTS SHOWING WHEN I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND A LOG BOOK OF ALL THE OIL CHANGES, MILEAGE AND DATES. KIA TOLD ME THAT WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH AND DENIED MY CLAIM FOR THE WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE AND GO THROUGH IT TO SEE IF THERE IS SLUG BUILT UP IN THE MOTOR (KNOWING THERE WILL BE DUE TO BAD BEARINGS AND RODS) AND IF THERE IS I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LABOR WHICH WOULD BE ABOUT $500 DOLLARS OR SO. THEY ARE TRYING TO WEASEL THEIR WAY OUT OF FIXING A PROBLEM THEY KNOW THEY CREATED. THEY DON'T CARE THAT THEY ARE SCREWING THEIR CUSTOMERS OVER. THEY KNOW THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND NOT ONLY ARE THEY WEASELING OUT OF FIXING IT THEY ARE DOING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO AVOID A RECALL BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO SWAP EVERY MOTOR FROM 2012-2014. THEY ARE HOPING THAT NO ONE CAN PRODUCE THEIR RECEIPTS SO THEY GET AWAY WITH AS LITTLE DAMAGE TO THEMSELVES AS POSSIBLE. INSTEAD OF DOING THE RIGHT THING AND TAKING CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY CAUSED. THERE'S A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ALREADY AGAINST KIA ALREADY FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE PROGRESSING FROM THE ENGINE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR SERVICING. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM A MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN OF WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR MONTHS DUE TO THE CONDITION AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE DESCRIBED WAS PURCHASED BY US 8/10/16. RECEIVED NOTICE FROM KIA ON 8/29/16 THAT ENGINE COULD "FAIL", BASICALLY COME APART. CONCERNED WITH SAFETY OF FAMILY IF WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR IN A REMOTE AREA AND THIS OCCURS WITH HER AND GRANDCHILDREN IN CAR. WHY WOULD THIS NOT BE A RECALL ITEM. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHY IT WOULD NOT BE A RECALL ITEM. TRYING TO AVOID A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. TOLD TO KEEP PAPERWORK IN GLOVE BOX IF IT HAPPENS.....REALLY? PLEASE HELP.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AIRBAG SAFETY INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON WITH PASSENGER SITTING ON THE SEAT: AT 80,000 MILES I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY PASSENGER AIRBAG SAFETY INDICATOR LIGHT. WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED, THE WARNING AIRBAG LIGHT, COMES ON AND REMAINS ON. I CONTACTED KIA AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS HAPPENED AT FIRST FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, AND NOW IT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY. SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. SINCE 60,000 MILES I HAVE HAD A SHORT IN THE ELECRICAL SYSTEM OF MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT PLACES TO HAVE IT INVESTIGATED AND NEITHER MECHANIC COULD TRACE THE CAUSE OF THE SHORT. I HAVE HAD BLOWN FUSES, NON-WORKING HEADLAMPS, FRONT AND BACK. NO ONE COULD FIND THE SHORT. I KEEP SPARE FUSES WITH ME AT ALL TIMES NOW, AND 100% OF THE TIME, THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LIGHT IS NOT OPERATIONAL. I CONTACTED KIA CAR PROS IN CARSON, CALIFORNIA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT ANY WARRANTY COVERAGE HAD EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. DEFECTIVE AUTO LOCKS MY RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NO LONGER OPEN AND WILL NO LONGER PERMIT INGRESS OR EGRESS INTO THE BACK SEAT. THE KEY FOB WILL TURN THE LOCKS TO THE OPEN POSITION BUT YOU STILL CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. PERIODICALLY, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL GO CRAZY AND MAKE UP AND DOWN MOVEMENTS WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. OCCASIONALLY, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WILL LOCK AND NOT OPEN, BUT THEN IT OPENS. NOW THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS PERMANENTLY STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. KIA CAR PROS ALWAYS FINDS SOME EXCUSE FOR NOT REPAIRING THE DOOR UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE IT IS DEFECTIVE AND THEY SHOULD BEAR THE EXPENSES.
WHENEVER I START THE VEHICLE AND TURN THE STEERING I AM HEARING A CLUNKING NOISE.RECENTLY WHENEVER I TURN THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING I AM HEARING THIS SOUND. IT WAS STATED IN THE APRIL 2018 ISSUE OF CONSUMER REPORTS THAT THE 2014-2016 KIA SOUL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED TO PROPERLY OPEN FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL WAS LOOSELY CONNECTED AND THE REAR DOOR LATCHES FAILED TO PROPERLY FUNCTION INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
Several spots of paint peeling off of the vehicle, all mainly around the windshield area on the top and sides as well as a few spots on the hood
CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RESTARTED CAR, DROVE IT TO A PEP BOYS, THEY PLUGGED IT IN TO GET THE ERROR CODE FOR WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BUT BY THAT TIME THE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF SO THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO GET THE CODE. I TOOK IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM, BUT THE SERVICE PERSON WAS DISMISSIVE. THIS WAS A YEAR AGO, BUT NOW I SEE THAT THERE IS AN IMPENDING RECALL ON THAT MODEL.
BOUGHT A PRE-CERTIFIED USED 2014 KIA SORENTO SXL. PASSED ALL 150 INSPECTION. LESS THAN 24 HRS AFTER BUYING THE CAR, THE FOLLOWING MORNING MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL A SUDDEN THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WAS GOING 5 MPH. SHE WAS SO SCARED, SPECIALLY BEING PREGNANT, THAT THE CARS WERE GOING TO HIT HER. SHE TRIED GETTING INTO THE SHOULDER BUT SHE WAS GOING SO SLOW THAT CARS WERE ZIPPING PASS HER. THANKFULLY SHE ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!!! AFTER GETTING TO A SAFE AREA, SHE TURNED THE CAR BACK OFF AND ON, THE CAR WORKED PERFECTLY FINE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEIR COMPUTER SENSOR COULDN'T PICK UP ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. SO LONG STORY SHORT, NOTHING WAS DONE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY FOR 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE AFFECTED SORENTO WERE BUILT FROM OCT 27, 2014 AND JAN 29, 2015. OUR CAR JUST MISSED IT BY A FEW MONTHS. I GUESS KIA IS JUST WAITING FOR A HUGE ACCIDENT FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I HOPE IT WOULDN'T BE US.
I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN CAR SHUTDOWN AND STERLING LOCKED, UNABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE. COME TO FIND OUT NEXT FEW DAYS IT WAS THE ACCELATOR THAT CAUSED IT. I HAD NO CONTROL AND ALMOST GOT KILLED BY A 18 WHEELER DRIVING IN NEXT LANE.
WAS GETTING READY TO MAKE A LEFT AND WAS T-BONED ON DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS OR SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ADJUSTER FOR INSURANCE COMPANY SAID IT LOOK LIKE THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE SENSORS.

AWD STILL NOT WORKING
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. RANDOM BLIND SPOT BLINKING OR SOUND WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. REPEATED VISITS TO STEVENSON KIA. SHOWED VIDEO OF PROBLEM. TECHNICIAN OBSERVED PROBLEM CASE #T3038955. DEALER SAYS THEY CAN,T DO ANYTHING TO SOLVE PROBLEM. SAFETY HAZARD WHEN MONITOR SOUNDS OR BLINKS WHEN THERE IS NO OBSTRUCTION
HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAMS) WILL BLOW OUT WHEN DRIVING AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. VERY UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.

UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT LIFTED THE HOOD AND NOTICED FLAMES NEAR THE MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE DEALER'S FOR WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT IT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHEN THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE AND PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
LOWBEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. UNABLE TO SEE PAST 5 FEET IN FRONT. CAN'T TELL WHEN THEY ARE ON MOST TIMES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS DO NOT UNLOCK. THEY DO NOT UNLOCK WITH KEY FOB, THEY ALSO DO NOT UNLOCK USING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. EVEN PULLING THE HANDLE TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE DOES NOT WORK, THEY HAVE TO EACH BE INDIVIDUALLY MANUALLY UNLOCKED, WHICH MEAN I HAVE TO CRAWLE IN THROUGH THE DRIVERS DOOR ACROSS TO UNLOCK FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND THEN INTO THE BACK TO UNLOCK THOSE DOORS TO LET MY 3 KIDS IN. IF WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT IT WOULD TAKE AN EXTRAORDINARY AMOUNT OF TIME TO SAFELY FREE THEM. THIS IS ALL THE TIME WHEN CAR IS IN PARK, WHEN IT'S OFF AND WHEN IT'S RUNNING. THIS PROBLEM WAS PROGRESSIVE, AT FIRST JUST OCCASIONALLY WOULD NOT WORK, OVER TIME IT HAS HAPPENED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY AND NOW ITS ALWAYS LIKE THIS, FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS LOCKS HAVE NOT WORKED AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO KIA AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT CHARGING ME $150-$300 JUST TO SEE IF THEY LOCKS REALLY AREN'T WORKING, I WILL NOT PAY TO PROVE THIS TO THEM, AND THEY REFUSE TO EVEN WATCH ME DO IT UNLESS I PAY THEM. BURGLAR ALARM ALSO STOPPED WORKING WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED.
I HAVE TWO MAJOR SAFETY HAZARDS GOING ON WITH MY VEHICLE THAT I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY 4 CHILDREN AND WIFE WHEN WE'RE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND OTHER FAST ROADS. THE FIRST ISSUE IS THE ELECTRICAL. IT FIRST STARTED BACK AROUND 40,000 MILES WHEN I TOOK MY KIA TO A KIA DEALERSHIP IN NAPERVILLE, IL AND THEY TOLD ME BOTH LOW BEAMS WERE OUT, SO THEY REPLACE THEM. EVER SINCE, I'VE BEEN REPLACING THESE BULBS EVERY 3-6 MONTHS BECAUSE THEY KEEP BLOWING OUT WHILE DRIVING AND IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO USE HIGH BEAMS, SO I'M DRIVING IN PITCH BLACK. NOW, JUST 3MONTHS AGO, BOTH OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT, AT THE SAME TIME. THREE YEARS AGO MY BACK UP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING, AND HASN'T WORKED SINCE. AT 57K MILES MY ENGINE WAS RECALLED FOR ENGINE FAILURES, AD WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS I'VE EXPERIENCED STALLING, STUTTERING, KNOCKING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGH WAYS, AT RED LIGHTS, IN TRAFFIC. FURTHERMORE, IN SEPTEMBER 27, 2019 MY ENGINE OIL WAS COMPLETELY UNDETECTABLE ON THE DIP STICK WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT 99,664 MILES. ALSO, BACK AT 64,977 MILES DURING ROUTINE SERVICE, IT WAS LOW. WITH THESE CONCERNS, I TOOK MY KIA IN TODAY TO THE GERALD KIA NORTH AURORA, IL, THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. THEY SAID THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN WHY MY BULBS KEEP BURNING OUT. THE TECH MANAGER ALSO STATED THAT THE STALLING AND KNOCKING IN MY ENGINE IS BECAUSE MY ENGINE HAD NO OIL IN IT. HE CHECKED FOR LEAKS, AND DIDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS. MY LAST OIL CHANGE AT A JIFFY LUBE, THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING AT 99,664 MILES, IT WAS ALMOST DRY. AT TODAYS SERVICE, MILEAGE IS 102,554. THAT MEANS 5 QUARTS OF OIL BURNED UP IN 2,890 MILES OR MOST LIKELY WAY SOONER BECAUSE AFTER 1.5 MONTHS OF THE OIL CHANGE I STARTED EXPERIENCED STALLING, KNOCKING, STUTTERING IN THE ENGINE, SO THAT MUST HAVE BEEN AT ONLY 1000-1500 MILES. I PUT IN A CLAIM WITH KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS, BUT I'M NOT SATISFIED.
I DROVE MY KIA TO THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY TO GET THE MAIL. UPON SHUTTING THE DOOR, MY REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED OUTWARD. I CONTACTED KIA AND SPOKE WITH JOSE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD DETERMINE IF THE WINDSHIELD WAS DEFECTIVE. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO SPITZER KIA AND AFTER WAITING 4 HOURS WAS TOLD THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT. SHAWN WAS THE MECHANIC THAT LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD AND TOOK PICTURES. PICTURES WERE SENT TO STEVEN RUPERT, FIELD TECHNICAL REP FOR KIA. MR. RUPERT MADE THIS DECISION VIA EMAIL TO SHAWN, PER SHAWN. I CONTACTED KIA ONCE AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THEY GO BACK WHAT IS REPORTED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.
I LOVE MY 2014 KIA SORENTO, BUT FOR THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE. IT IS VIRTUALLY UNREADABLE DURING THE DAYTIME AND CONSTITUTES A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE DRIVER HAS TO TAKE HIS EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS TO SEE HOW FAST HE IS GOING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS ON A METROPOLITAN FREEWAY. THE LOCAL KIA DEALER (MESA, AZ) SAID THEY HADN'T HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AND, IN ANY EVENT, COULD NOT HELP AND REFERRED ME TO CORPORATE KIA. CORPORATE KIA REFERRED ME BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALER. I UNDERSTAND FROM INTERNET FORUMS DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE THAT, FIRST, I AM ONE OF MANY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SPEEDO-UNREADABLE ISSUE AND, SECOND, KIA CORPORATE IS INDEED AWARE OF THE PROBLEM (SEE CASE # [XXX], JUNE 10, 2013), BUT OFFERS NO RELIEF, OTHER THAN "THEY ARE WORKING ON IT." I AM TOLD KIA MAY HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE IN ITS 2015 MODEL (WHICH SEEMS AN ADMISSION OF FAULT), BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP ME AND OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2014 MODEL. IT SEEMS A SIMPLE FIX: REPLACE THE 2014 SPEEDOMETER UNIT WITH THAT OF 2015. OR, HECK, PAINT THE SPEEDO NEEDLE WHITE, INSTEAD OF THE EXISTING DULL RED ON A BLACK BACKGROUND. CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE OVER THE WEEKEND, FROM FRIDAY 4PM TILL MONDAY 6AM, STARTED CAR SUNDAY NIGHT, BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE TO PUT OUT THE TRASH FOR MONDAY PICKUP, PULLED THE VEHICLE BACK IN THE GARAGE AND SHUT IT OFF. MONDAY AT 6AM BATTERY WAS DEAD. NOTHING WAS LEFT ON OVERNIGHT IN CAR.
NOVEMBER 6 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:15 PM MY WIFE HAD AN ACCIDENT IN OUR CAR TOUR OF THE FRONT END TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP IN THE BODY SHOP AFTER 4 WEEKS WE GOT THE CAR BACK AFTER ONE DAY THE CAR CUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER HE SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP THAT WASN'T COVERED BY THE INSURANCE BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CARD NEVER CUT OFF BEFORE THE ACCIDENT SO WHY DID HE CUT OFF AFTER THE REPAIR
THE SKIRTING AROUND MY SEAT HAS BEEN BROKEN SINCE ABOUT 2015. THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW THE SEAT IS NOT ADJUSTING CORRECTLY CAUSING IT TO BE HARD TO REACH THE PEDALS SOMETIMES.
WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, I SUFFERED A FRONT TIRE FAILURE. A NARROW STRIP 1" WIDE BY 6" LONG SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. I WROTE TWICE TO KUMHO WITH NO RESPONSE. I HAVE DRIVEN 50+ YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A TIRE MALFUNCTION. I DID NOT DRIVE OVER ANYTHING AS THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE. THIS KUMHO TIRE SHOULD BE REVIEWED FOR SAFETY REASONS.
TURNING TO PARK MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT, TOOK A SLIGHT TURN INTO THE SPOT AND THE CAR SHOT UP THE INCLINE LIKE A ROCKET BY ITS SELF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE JOLTED THREE TIMES BEFORE ACCELERATING. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO FAILURES. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A DIFFERENT DAY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO A DITCH. THE BRAKE AND STEERING ABILITY RETURNED AND THE CONTACT DROVE TO ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND FOLLOWED UP WITH THE DEALERS, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
WHILE ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY, THE CAR SEEMED TO LOSE POWER. IT CONTINUED TO RUN FOR A WHILE, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 60 MPH. LIGHT WENT ON INDICATING ENGINE PROBLEM. PULLED CAR OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT DIED COMPLETELY. WE HAD A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO. AFTER BRINGING THE CAR INTO OUR DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES 2 YEARS AGO, OUR KIA DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND RESET SOME ELECTRICAL PORTION OF THE CAR. BOTH TIMES THAT THIS (2015 AND 2013/4) HAPPENED WE HAD OUR YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR.

THE HEADLAMPS ARE FREQUENTLY GOING OUT AND REQUIRE TO BE REPLACED. I LIVE IN A STATE WHERE HEADLAMPS ARE REQUIRED IN RAIN (SO MANY TIMES I AM IN VIOLATION) AND THE ROADS ARE NOT WELL LIT AT NIGHT. EVEN WHEN THE HEADLAMPS ARE WORKING PROPERLY, THEY ARE INADEQUATE.
I PRESSED ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR VEERED LEFT AND STARTED TO SWERVE. IT STARTED SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL.
EVERYTIME I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE IT MAKES A HARSH BANGING NOISE. IT ALSO DECIDES TO JUST SHUT OFF AS SOON AS I PRESS ON THE GAS OR SLOW DOWN AFTER I'VE ALREADY STARTED GOING ON CITY STREETS I CAN ALSO HEAR AND FEEL CLICKING UNDER DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR BOARD AS I'M TURNING INTO DRIVE WAYS,PARKING SPOTS ETC. THIS IS AN EVERYDAY THING THAT STARTED LAST YEAR.
