TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WEST PALM BEACH KIA (LOCATED AT 735 S MILITARY TRAIL, WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33415, (561) 433-1511) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANIFOLD, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, GASKETS, AND EXHAUST PIPE WERE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED EVERY 200 MILES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,896.
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL, DATED APRIL 12, 2019. PER RECALL, 19V120, TO UPGRADE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AT NO COST TO ME. I CALLED CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 800.333.4542 AND SPOKE WITH NICOLE WHO ASSURED ME THERE WOULD BE NO COST TO ME. ON MAY 13TH, I VISITED A KIA DEALERSHIP ON 4220 FREDERICKSBURG RD., SAN ANTONIO, TX., AND MADE APPOINTMENT FOR MAY 16TH AND WAS TOLD THAT A DIAGNOSTIC WAS NECESSARY AND COULD GENERATE A CHARGE. LATER THAT DAY I CALLED TO CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT IN CASE OF A CHARGE AND SPOKE TO DANIEL, A CASHIER. TO CONFIRM CANCELLATION, I CALLED AGAIN ON MAY 15TH AND SPOKE WITH EDWARD IN SERVICES AND WAS TOLD THE APPOINTMENT HAD NOT BEEN CANCELLED. I ASKED HIM TO CANCEL AND HE ADVISED ME TO RESCHEDULE SOON DUE TO THE RECALL. I TOLD EDWARD MY CONCERNS ABOUT PAYING FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, AND HE SAID THAT IF DIAGNOSTIC WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL, THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE, BUT THERE COULD BE A CHARGE IF THE DIAGNOSTIC FOUND OTHER ISSUES NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. HE SAID HE WOULD CANCEL APPOINTMENT AND I TOLD HIM I WOULD CALL LATER TO RESCHEDULE. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT HAVE THE MONEY ANY TIME SOON TO PAY IN CASE THERE IS A CHARGE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. THE MILEAGE IN MY VEHICLE IS 53,000, SO I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG I SHOULD CONTINUE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WITHOUT RESOLVING THIS RECALL ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND THE ENGINE SUDDENLY EXPLODED. THE MOTOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND CREATED A SAFETY RISK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SMOKE CAME FROM THE AIR VENT BEFORE THE ENGINE SUDDENLY EXPLODED. FLAMES WERE SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER MARTIN KIA (2211 SCOTTSVILLE RD. BOILING GREEN KY). WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY. THE ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE REPLACED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE). APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 40 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND STALL WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2013 KIA SOUL ON MAY 8, 2019. ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. WHEN I CHECKED FOR ANY RECALLS, MY CAR HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL. THIS WAS PERFORMED AT KIA DEALER IN LAKE CHARLES, LA, ON APRIL 22, 2019. THEY DID NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE ENGINE. I TOOK TO WALKER KIA IN ALEXANDRIA, LA, AND WAS TOLD MY ENGINE WAS NOT ONE "WITH THE LIFETIME WARRANTY" AND THAT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ENGINE RECALL. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING REGARDING A "LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY". THIS CAR NEEDS NEW ENGINE. PLEASE HELP!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HANSON SUBARU KIA (2300 CARRIAGE LOOP SW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502, 1-877-224-14270) TO BE REPAIRED PER A MANUFACTURER RECALL CAMPAIGN REGARDING THE ENGINE. THE DEALER FOUND TWO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES, BUT THEY FAILED TO REPLACE THE MOTOR OR CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND ONLY PROVIDED AN UPGRADE TO THE COMPUTER. THE DEALER REFUSED TO PROVIDE THE REMEDY AND CLEARED THE FAILURE CODES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR AND WAS CONSUMING MOTOR OIL AT A HIGH RATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FULLY REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AT KIA OF MERIDIAN (1219 MS-39 BYPASS, MERIDIAN, MS 39301). AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO WILSON KIA (4204 LAKELAND DR, JACKSON, MS 39232). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL UPDATE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, DRIVE BELT, AND FUEL INJECTION SERVICE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT OCCURRING PRIOR TO THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,832.
2013 KIA SOUL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HAVING THE RECALL COMPLETED THE VEHICLE BECAME VERY SLUGGISH AND DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. *JS
I TOOK MY CAR INTO KIA OF LAGRANGE IN LAGRANGE GEORGIA FOR A RECALL. MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND GIVING THE CODE FOR THE CADILLAC CONVERTER. THEY UPGRADED THE COP ECU LOGIC AND RESET MY ENGINE LIGHT. THE NEXT DAY MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS RIGHT BACK ON FOR MY CADILLAC CONVERTER. KIA IS REFUSING TO REPLACE MY CADILLAC CONVERTER EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL STATES IF THAT WAS DAMAGED IT WOULD BE REPLACED. I HAVE CALLED THE CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER FOR KIA AT 800-333-4542 SIX TIMES NOW AND EACH REPRESENTATIVE I HAVE SPOKEN TO HAS ASSURED ME THEY WOULD GET THIS RESOLVED AND THAT NO MONEY WOULD COME OUT OF MY POCKET AND HAVE BEEN PROMISED CALLS BACK ALL SIX TIMES BUT NEVER RECIEVED A CALL BACK.

I HAD MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WHEN I FIRST GOT THE NOTIFICATION ABOUT IT AND IT HAS ALREADY HAD TO BE FIXED AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING SINCE THEN AND IS STARTING TO ACT UP AGAIN THE SAME WAY. SOMETIMES I CAN SMELL IT AND ALSO NOTICED MY CAR IS NOT ACCELERATING LIKE IT SHOULD. I'M AFRAID MY CAR ISN'T SAFE.

AT AROUND 60,000 MILES, BEGAN TO NOTICE CLUNKING NOISE AND SLIGHT WOBBLE WITH STEERING COLUMN. AT FIRST IT WAS MINIMAL, BUT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND NOW HEAR NEW SQUEAKING/GRINDING NOISES WHEN TURNING AT LOWER SPEEDS OR WHEN STOPPED. RECENTLY RESEARCHED AND SAW THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL (THE 2010-2013 BUILDS), WITH A VIDEO REGARDING THIS ISSUE ON YOUTUBE HAVING MORE THAN 40,000 VIEWS AS OF WRITING THIS (HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/J3U0KHPLZ8C). THE SAME STEERING COUPLER PARTS THAT WERE DEEMED DEFECTIVE FOR OTHER RECALLED MODELS FROM KIA/HYUNDAI APPEAR TO BE THE SAME ONES USED IN THE 2013 KIA SOUL (AND OTHERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED). RADIO/BACKING CAMERA STOPPED WORKING. HAD CAMERA REPLACED EARLIER. RADIO COMES ON BUT PLAYS NO SOUNDS.
STEERING MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE. APPARENTLY THE FLEX COUPLET WHICH WAS RECALLED ON THE 2014 THROUGH 2016 SOUL HAS WORN OUT PREMATURELY. IT'S KNOWN PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER SHOULD COVER THE COST.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BYSTANDERS HELPED PUSH THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WORLD CAR KIA NEW BRAUNFELS (LOCATED AT 3363 INTERSTATE 35 FRONTAGE RD, NEW BRAUNFELS, TX 78132, (830) 214-7280) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PISTON ROD EXPLODED AND BLEW A HOLE IN THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000. *DT
2013 KIA SOUL+ 2.0L ENGINE. MERGING INTO 50MPH ZONE FROM ONE MAJOR ROADWAY TO ANOTHER, MY VEHICLE STALLED DURING ACCELERATION, AND BEGAN MAKING A THUMPING NOISE AS I PULLED OVER. AS I STOPPED THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER, THE CHECK OIL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. I DROVE TO A PARKING LOT FOR A SAFE AREA, AND CALLED THE COMPANY THAT RECENTLY CHANGED THE OIL 4 DAYS PRIOR. THEY HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THEM FOR ANOTHER LOOK. THEY FOUND THAT THE OIL PUMP WAS WORKING CORRECTLY, BUT ONE OF THE PISTONS WAS NOT GETTING ANY OIL AND THE ROD HAD BROKEN. I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR APPROX. 7 MONTHS. I'VE NEVER HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER INDICATORS THAT AN ISSUE WAS PENDING.
I 2013 KIA SOULS RECENTLY WENT OUT, IT WON'T START. THERE WAS NO LIGHT THAT INDICATED A PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO MY MACHINE WHO BELIEVED IT WAS THE STARTER OR BATTERY BUT WHEN HE LOOKED AT THE ENGINE HE BELIEVED IT HAD BLOW UP. A RECENT RECALL WAS DONE ON MY VEH, SO I GOT IT TOLLED TO KIA. THEY DIDN'T ISSUE ME A RENTAL, AND THE SERVICE MAN DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE VEH BECAUSE THEY HAVENT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ON IT. I HAD TO GO HOME AND GET THE RECALL NOTICE THAT WAS GOING TO BE SENT OUT TO CUSTOMERS. I'VE BEEN CALLING FOR THE PAST 2 WEEK AND THE SERVICE PERSON CLOSED OUT MY CASE. IF YOU HAD NO INFORMATION ON THE RECALL HOW CAN YOU CLOSE OUT MY CASE ? WHAT KNOWLEDGE DID YOU HAVE THAT YOUR WERE NOT INFORMING ME? ON 4/22/2019 I RECEIVED A CALL THAT STATED MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE THE SERVICE CODES AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE BUT THEY CAN;'T FIND ONE. MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS RECALLED

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL BECAME INOPERABLE AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 45 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT P0302 (CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE) AND P0420 (OXYGEN SENSOR) WERE RETRIEVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SANTA FE KIA (1701 ST MICHAELS DR, SANTA FE, NM 87505, (505) 982-1957) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 176,000. INVALID VIN.
RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING MY STEERING WAS FEELING SLIGHTLY HUNG OR NOT STEERING A LITTLE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL. NOW THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT HAS SOME PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND MAKES A CLUNKING WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER. I FIGURE IT IS SOMETHING WITH AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AFTER LOOKING IT UP ON THE INTERNET. I AM NOT QUITE SURE IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS CONCERNED WHEN TURNING CURVES AT 65 MPH AND IT WAS FEELING HUNG UP & NOT QUITE RIGHT. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AT THIS POINT.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER DARCARS LANHAM KIA (9020 LANHAM SEVERN RD, LANHAM, MD 20706) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TWO OXYGEN SENSORS HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) ON APRIL 12TH 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS AWAITING AN EVALUATION FROM A KIA HEADQUARTERS MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
RECALL ON CAR 19V120. KIA STATES I NEED A NEW ENGINE. MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL (PISTON DAMAGE D/T SUBRATE PARTICLES, EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING (2.5QUARTS PER 900 MILES), INTERMITTENT MIL ILLUMINATING... KIA STATES I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND THEY WILL PAY FOR THE ENGINE, BUT NOT THE LABOR. GETTING RUN AROUND. KIA STATES THE ENGINE DAMAGE IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE RECALL, YET THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION OF WHAT IS CAUSING THE ENGINE DAMAGE. THEY ARE ALSO REFUSING TO PROVIDE ANY DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION. THEIR REASON THAT MY ENGINE HAS DAMAGE IS BECAUSE IT'S HIGH MILEAGE. THIS IS A SINGLE OWNER, WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE. THE FACT THAT THE CAR HAS THE EXACT DAMAGE AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL AND KIA REFUSES TO LIVE UP TO THEIR PROMISE 'AT NO COST TO YOU', NOT ONLY HAS ME QUESTIONING THEIR LOYALTY TO THE CUSTOMER, BUT ALSO CONTINUES TO PUT ME AND MY FAMILY IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION OF DRIVING A FAULTY CAR. YES, THIS HAS HIGH MILEAGE, YES, THIS IS OUT OF WARRANTY, HOWEVER, THIS IS A RECALL, NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE AND THE RECALL SHOULD BE HONORED 100%. I HAVE ADVISED KIA CORPORATE I AM CONTACTING YOU FOR ASSISTANCE, SINCE EACH REP TELLS ME A DIFFERENT STORY. I'M TOLD THE CASE IS BEING ESCALATED, AND HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYTHING. I'VE ASKED GOD SPEAK WITH HIGHER MANAGEMENT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE TO GIVE OUT.
THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT BEING FILED REGUARDING THIS CAR. AFTER WE FILED THE FIRST COMPLAINT WE TOOK OUR CAR BACK INTO THE KIA DEALERSHIP FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. THEY SCANNED ENGINE AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEY TOPPED OFF OUR OIL BECAUSE IT WAS HALF FULL. I JUST RECENTLY GOT MY OIL CHANGE DONE THERE 2,000 MILES AGO. ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL IT SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 7,500 MILES. THE FOLLOWING DAY WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, PULLED OFF AT OUR EXIT AND SMELLED A HORRID LEAK BURNING/ ROTTEN EGG/ SULFUR SMELL. WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OF THE ROAD AND CHECKED THE CAR FOR FLAMES. WE DIDN'T FIND ANY. I'M REALLY STARTING TO FEEL UNSAFE ABOUT BEING IN THIS VECHIEL.
KIA SOUL 2013 RECALL. WE WERE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 55MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. WE RUSHED IMMEDIATELY TO THE KIADEALERSHIP AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE KIA ENGINE FIRES. THEY SCANNED OUR VECHIEL AND SAIDONE OF THE ENGINE COILS MAY STOP WORKING. THEY SAID OUR CAR COULD JUST STOP WORKING ON THE ROAD AND THEN WE WOULD NEED TO TOW IT IN. THIS DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A CLEAR EXPLAINATION OF THE PROBLEM TO ME. I'M CONCERNED WE'LL KEEP DRIVING THE CAR AND IT WILL CATCH ON FIRE.
2013 KIA SOUL 1.6L GDI. 77650 MILES. DESPITE THAT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN AND I WAS TOLD TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL I HAPPENED AGAIN. 2. I'VE BEEN NOTICING MY CAR IS ALWAYS LOW ON OIL. LAST TIME I HAD MY OIL CHANGED THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T EVEN MEASURE ANY OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. NOW YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP SAME ISSUE. IT'S ONLY BEEN 2K MILES SINCE MY LAST SERVICE AND IT WAS ALMOST 3/4OF A QT LOW. I KNOW IT'S NORMAL FOR SOME OIL TO BURN BUT THAT'S WAY TOO MUCH TOO QUICKLY. 3. YESTERDAY ONLY 1 DAY AFTER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED I NOTICED A REALLY BAD SMELL COMING FROM MY CAR WHEN I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY. I'D DESCRIBED IT AS A HOT TIN/SULFER SMELL. NOW I'M WORRIED TO EVEN DRIVE THIS CAR AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY, I NOTICED A CLICKING SOUND IN MY STEERING WHEEL WHEN MOVING IT FROM SIDE TO SIDE. I GOOGLED THIS AND SAW MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE; HOWEVER THE RECALLS WERE NOT FOR THE 2013 KIA SOUL'S. I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE @ 1-800-333-4542 AND THEY SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER HAVE IT DIAGNOSED @ $143.00 BUT CANNOT GUARANTEE THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I CALLED THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN DELRAY BEACH, FL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE KIA OPTIMA WAS RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING MORE AND MORE KIA SOULS COMING IN WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE COST FOR REPAIR WOULD BE $400.00 +. I SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SINCE KIA IS AWARE THIS PART IS OF POOR DESIGN AND FAILS PREMATURELY. KIA SHOULD BE RECALLING ALL MODELS SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND ALL MODELS HAVE THE SAME DEFECTIVE MDPS COUPLER IN THE STEERING COLUMN. I FEEL THAT ANYONE DRIVING A KIA IS AT RISK.

The contact owns a 2013 Kia Soul. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that there was a knocking sound coming from the engine while driving at various speeds and while the vehicle was idling. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer refused to replace the engine because the previous owner had not received an undisclosed service related to the KSDS completed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that if the catalytic converter was damaged, the engine should be replaced. The manufacturer opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
THE BATTERY KEEPS DRAINING. REPLACED BATTERY AND IT KEEPS DYING AFTER A FEW WEEKS. THE DOORS LOCK AND CAN'T BE OPENED WITH THE KEY PROVIDED WHEN THE BATTERY IS DEAD, SO WE ARE LOCKED OUT OF VEHICLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO OPENING THE HOOD TO GET THE CAR JUMPED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. TOOK CAR HOME AND 3 DAYS LATER THE SAME THING THE CAR WONT START. QUICK JUMP STARTS RIGHT UP AND LASTS FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS AND WONT START AGAIN.
