THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE STEERING AND PLAY WHEN THE CAR ENGINE IS RUNNING. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND MOVING. APPEARS TO BE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR DAMPER THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY HYUNDAI AND KIA MODELS. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH, THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED; HOWEVER, AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING AND COULD NOT BE TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION. DELAND KIA (2322 S WOODLAND BLVD, DELAND, FL 32720, (386) 734-7800) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V332000 (STEERING), 17V608000 (STEERING), AND 15V736000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING NOISE. MY MECHANIC SAID WHILE DRIVING THIS PART COULD BREAK OFF CAUSING A SERIOUS SITUATION AND MAY PRECIPITATE AN ACCIDENT. THIS SITUATION IS CURRENT AND HAS BEEN IN EFFECT FOR A COUPLE MONTHS
MY CAR IS BURNING OIL, AND LOSING POWER I FEEL. I HAVE TO PUT IN MOTOR OIL ABOUT ONCE A WEEK, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CHECKED AND SAYING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
TAKATA RECALL : CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, STAYS ON FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN TURNS OFF FOR A FEW HOURS. THE ERROR CODE READS P0420. MY FUEL EFFICIENCY HAS SIGNIFICANTLY DROPPED AND I HAVE A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER AS MY CAR NOW STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE. A SMELL SIMILAR TO SPRAY PAINT HAS BEEN PRESENT INSIDE THE CAR ON OCCASION. THE ENGINE HAS GROWN LOUD. HOWEVER, MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT PULLING UP ANY RECALLS. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE, GIVEN MY SPECIFIC ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BUTLER KIA (4950 CRATER LAKE AVE, MEDFORD, OR 97504, (541) 776-3088) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

IT IS MY OPINION THAT A NEW TSB SHOULD BE ISSUED TO INCLUDE THE EFFECTED SOULS AND FORTES IN THE KIA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION / WARRANTY EXTENSION PROGRAM. I FEEL THIS PROBLEM SHOULD GET NATIONAL ATTENTION IF NOT ACTED UPON BY KMAI.
MY EXHAUST PIPE BROKE ON A WELD BEHIND THE RESONATOR AND STARTED DRAGGING THE GROUND WHILE I WAS DRIVING. LUCKLY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME. I WENT TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE AND GOT SOME CLAMPS TO HOLD IT TOGETHER BUT IT IS VERY LOUD NOW. NOT SURE IF IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FIRE HAZARD FROM SPARKS ON THE PAVEMENT.
A FLEXIBLE COUPLING IN THE STEERING SYSTEM WAS BROKEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE KIA OPTIMAS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM MY DAUGTHERS KIA HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, SHE OWNS A 2013 KIA AS WELL THE CHARGE IS $366.00 FOR A RUBBER COUPLING. HAD A VERY BAD NOISE WHEN TURNING AND WERE CONCERN AS FAR AS LOOSING THE STEERING SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING.
STEERING COUPLING BROKEN......MAKES CLUNKING SOUND WHILE TURNING OR DRIVING STRAIGHT.... 2014 THRU 2016 MODELS MADE BETWEEN JULY 2013 AND SEPTEMBER 2015 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SAME PROBLEM.....MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED 6 MONTHS TO EARLY TO HAVE IT RECALLED......SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY.....WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS I AM SEEING THIS PROBLEM STARTED EARLIER THAN SOMEONE WANTS TO ADMIT......MY CAR WAS PURCHASED AT BONIFACE HIERS IN MELBOURNE, FL AND THEY WON'T FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY....THE CAR HAS 25,000 MILES ON IT.......PATHETIC
STEERING COUPLER FAILED AT 49000 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE ENGINE, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THICK WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE TAILPIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HATFIELD KIA (LOCATED AT 1455 AUTO MALL DR, COLUMBUS, OH 43228, (855) 226-5444) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 12952277. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. *DT*JB
THE STEERING WHEEL IS SUPER LOOSE AND THE CAR WILL VEER RIGHT ON ITS OWN. WE TOOK IT IN FOR AN ALIGNMENT ($80) AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO GO INTO STEERING COLUMN AND DIAGNOSE AND FIX. THEY SAID MOST THE PARTS WERE CHEAP, HOWEVER THE JOB IS TIMELY AND TEDIOUS, THEREFORE THE ANTICIPATE IT COSTING APPROXIMATELY $500 PLUS THE $80 ALIGNMENT....SO ALMOST $600! ALL OF THIS RIGHT AT CHRISTMAS TIME, AND EVEN WORSE, ONLY TWO MONTHS AFTER HURRICANE CHARLIE DEMOLISHED OUR HOME IN PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THE MECHANIC TOLD US WE WERE LUCKY THE STEERING HASN'T STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND WARNED US TO NOT DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT WOULD STOPPED WORKING AT SOME POINT AND WE COULD BE IN MAJOR ACCIDENT.
IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS, WHILE MAKING TURNS EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT OR WHILE PARKED IF YOU MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT YOU FEEL A DEFINITE CLUNKING IN THE STEERING. PRIOR TO THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT THE STEERING HAS ALWAYS BEEN SMOOTH. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILE ON IT. I SEE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. I SEE A RECALL FOR THE 2014-16, WHY NOT THE 13?
MY CAR HAS 55K MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED IT OCTOBER 2013. THE STEERING COUPLING JUST WENT BAD AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY $500 FOR THE REPAIR. THIS COMPLAINT SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. ALSO, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT GO BACK UP WITH DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROL. THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THAT IS ALSO OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT IT WILL $350 FOR THE REPAIR. I'M CONFUSED... HOW CAN NONE OF THIS BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY? PLUS, I'M STILL WAITING FOR KIA MILES PER GALLON SETTLEMENT FROM 4 YEARS AGO. IF THIS IS THEY WAY THEY OPERATE, I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE.
WHEN IN MOTION THE CAR WOULD SPUTTER AND STRUGGLE TO REACH SPEEDS OVER 30 MPH. MULTIPLE TIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND READ AS A KNOCK SENSOR. REPLACED THE KNOCK SENSOR BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD SPUTTER. TOOK IT TO KIA AND THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS THE HYDRAULIC MODULE. THEY FIXED IT COSTING ME $1500. I DISCOVERED THE OTHER DAY THAT MY CAR HAS A RECALL FOR ANOTHER ISSUE BUT SAW THE CAR HAS AN INVESTIGATION ON GOING ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT CITY ROAD AT 35 MPH AND MY CAR WEAVED 3 TIMES WITHIN .2 MILE. MY HANDS WERE STEADY AND NOT MOVING ON STEERING WHEEL. IT SWERVED ALL BY ITSELF. . . ZIG ZAG STYLE. THEN IT STOPPED WEAVING AND DROVE STRAIGHT AGAIN.
STEERING WHEEL CLICKS OR KNOCKS WHEN MOVING OR STATIONARY WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL TO LEFT OR RIGHT. AT SPEEDS OF 75+ MPH THE STEERING WHEEL CLICKS AND SHAKES ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ANY TURNING INPUT. SEEMS LIKE A SIMILAR ISSUE TO OTHER KIA RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE STEERING COUPLER.

THE FAILURE CAUSED THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE TO BE CAUGHT INSIDE THE DOOR FRAME OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS BENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BUCKLE NO LONGER FITS INTO THE RECEIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAMILY KIA OF ST.AUGUSTINE LOCATED AT 2665 U.S. HIGHWAY 1 SOUTH, ST. AUGUSTINE, FL 32086, (904) 808-0542, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RETRACTOR, RECEIVER, AND BUCKLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,504.
AT AROUND 69K MILES I HAD A NEW SET OF TIRES PUT ON THE CAR. WHEN I GOT IT BACK ABOUT A FEW DAYS LATER I NOTICED WHEN I WAS STOPPED A CLICKING NOISE THAT I COULD FEEL IN THE WHEEL. IT SEEMS TO TRACK STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD BUT HAS SOME SLACK IN THE WHEEL ITSELF. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO PEP BOYS AND THEY SAID IT WAS A KNOW KIA ISSUE TO CALL THE DEAL. SO TODAY 9/7/18 CALLED ORLANDO KIA TODAY THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALLS STEERING RELATED BUT THEY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A LOOK. I BET. DOING SOME RESEARCH ITS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND UTUBE THAT THE STEERING DAMPER RUBBER STAR SHAPED DAMPER DISINTEGRATES AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES THE SLOP IN THE WHEEL. THE PART NUMBER I AM SEEING IS 56315-2K000FFF AND IS LESS THAN 5" AT THE DEALER. OBSERVING DIFFERENT COSTS ONLINE DEPENDING ON MAKE AND MODEL FROM 225$ TO 1800$ TO REPLACE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND FIXED NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

OCCASIONALLY, THE ENGINE WOULD IMMEDIATELY RESTART AND THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRANKSHAFT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (DELAND KIA, 2322 WOODLAND BLVD, DELAND, FL) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THE STEERING WHEEL OF OUR 2013 SOUL IS MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 31,000 MILES ON IT AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ IT SEEMS TO BE THE RACK AND PINION. I'M WORRIED THAT I WILL LOSE STEERING WHILE DRIVING AND THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM WILL NOT FIX IT EVEN THOUGH ALL THE OPTIMA'S AND KIA SOULS 2014-17 HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I'VE SEEN YOUTUBE VIDEOS HIGHLIGHTING THIS DEFECT GOING BACK TO 2011 SO KIA WAS OBVIOUSLY AWARE OF THE ISSUE.
WHEN IT IS EXTREMELY HOT OUTSIDE (I.E. 95 DEGREES) AND I TURN ON THE A/C AND COME TO A STOP, THE CAR OFTEN TIMES WILL LUNGE FORWARD, ABOUT A FOOT, EVEN IF MY FOOT IS FIRMLY ON THE BREAK.
I WENT ON A TRIP FROM ORLANDO TO KEYWEST WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND I BROKE DOWN. THANKFULLY, I HAD THROUGH INSURANCE FREE TOWING. GOT TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE STORE AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY AND ACCELERATOR AND MULTIPLE ITEMS I HAVE PROOF OF ON PAPER. I BEGAN TO DRIVE AGAIN AND MY CAR WOULDNT START WHEN I STOPPED TO GET GAS. SOMEONE HAD TO JUMP MY CAR AT THE GAS STATION AND IT HAPPENS ON AND OFF NOT EVERYTIME BUT I HAVE TO PUSH MY GAS AND TURN MY KEY AT THE SAME TIME TO GET MY CAR TO START. IN ADDITION, WHEN I AM DRIVING I HEAR SOUNDS AND BROUGHT IT TO KIA IN KEYWEST. I BOUGHT AN ACCELERATOR FOR $717.54 AND STILL HAVING ISSUES! LUCKILY, I JUST MADE IT HOME TONIGHT WITH MY CHILDREN AND WE ARE SAFE BUT THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE AND AFTER PAYING ALL OF THAT MONEY I AM LIVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAR WAS LIKE NEW HAD WITH ONLY AROUND 40K MILES ON IT. WE WERE GIVING A CAR A JUMP AND SOUL CAUGHT FIRE AND LITERALLY BURNED TO THE GROUND! FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO COME OUT AND PUT IT OUT! IT WAS REMARKABLE! AND WE HAVE THE FIRE ON VIDEO, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWING UP, ETC. IT CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE FRONT HOOD AND NO ONE KNOWS WHY! WE HAD JUST PAID OFF THE FINAL PAYMENT WERE WAITING FOR TITLE TO COME IN THE MAIL. NEEDLESS TO SAY AFTER PAYING IT OFF ONLY HAD REQUIRED COVERAGE AS MY MOTHER 80YRS NEVER DROVE IT AND OF COURSE IT DID NOT COVER FIRE! THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

TAKATA RECALL MY 2013 KIA SOUL HAD BEEN A GREAT CAR FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS NOW. OUT OF NO WHERE WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IT JUST STARTED TO MAKE THIS REALLY LOUD KNOCKING AND TICKING SOUND. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT SHUTS OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO I HAD A SLIGHT JERK IN STEERING WHEEL AND IT JUST GOT WORSE, I HEARD CLUNKING NOISE, STEERING WAS LOOSE AND JERKY, UNSTABLE DRIVING. TOOK IT TOO KIA AND THEY DID A PERFORMED A EXPRESS SERVICE MULTI-POINT INSPECTION AND CONFIRMED NOISE AND STATED IT NEEDED A NEW A FLEXIBLE COUPLING AND A NEW EPS MOTOR AND ALIGNMENT. ONLY FLEXIBLE COUPLING WAS REPLACED THROUGH EXTENDED WARRANTY, NO ALIGNMENT OR EPS MOTOR WAS DONE. I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH WEBSITES OF COMPLAINTS AND KIA SOUL 2013 HAS BEEN REPORTED BUT NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN. IF I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY I WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THE COUPLING REPLACED, BUT MORE IS REQUIRED SUCH AS EPS MOTOR AND AN ALIGNMENT WHICH WAS PURCHASED ALREADY IN APRIL OF 2018. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED AND FIXED ASAP AS A RECALL AS IT IT A DANGER FOR ANYONE TO BE DRIVING A KIA SOUL WITH THIS ISSUE

I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE ABOUT 20 MPH. ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER, I RECEIVED A HEAVY PUNCH IN MY CHEST AND STOMACH AREA. I YELLED, "WHAT IS GOING ON". I THEN NOTICED THE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED AND EXPLODED CAUSING MULTIPLE BURNS AND BRUISES TO MY ARMS, CHEST, CLAVICLE AND STOMACH AREAS. I WAS A LITTLE DISORIENTED AFTER THIS BUT MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. ONCE OUT OF THE CAR, I NOTICED I HAD REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND THE DRIVER WAS TELLING ME TO GET AWAY FROM THE CAR SINCE MY CAR WAS SMOKING. IT WAS 95 DEGREES THAT DAY AND I DID NOT HAVE THE AIR CONDITIONING ON. THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG.
FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN TO THE CAR DEALER FOR HEADLIGHTS AND OTHER LIGHTS OUT ON THE CAR AS WELLL AND THE STEERING COLUMN IS MAKING CLICKING NOISES.
THE ENGINE IN MY 2013 KIA SOUL BLEW AT ONLY 56000 MILES. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN SHE HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE AND SHE PULLED OVER. A MAN CAME UP TO HER WINDOW AND TOLD HER THERE WAS FLAMES COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. IT TURNS OUT THAT A ROD WENT THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK AND LEAKED ALL THE OIL OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KIA, THE SERVICE TECH ASKED ABOUT THE OIL CHANGES AND HAD MENTIONED THAT THE OEM OIL FILTER THAT KIA PUTS HAS SOME TYPE OF PRESSURE RELEASE AND WHEN YOU GET THE OIL CHANGED SOMEWHERE ELSE THEY DON'T HAVE THAT TYPE OF FILTER. I ASKED IF IT WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AT A KIA DEALER AND HE SAID NO. WE HAVE HAD ALL THE OIL CHANGES UP TO DATE ON THE VEHICLE. IT IS REALLY HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW AN ENGINE WITH 56K MILES CAN STOP.

HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT NEW PISTONS AND A CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT A NEW OXYGEN SENSOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
ON APRIL 3RD, 2018 AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN IT STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT START. HAD HELP COME WITHIN 30 MINUTES AND WHEN WE TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, IT DID START AND I DROVE IT HOME. NO ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE FOR THE PROBLEM AND TALKING TO MECHANICS ABOUT IT. RAN FINE UNTIL MAY 1, 2018, AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN CRUISE CONTROL DOING 65MPH MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I HAD NO TROUBLE LIGHTS ON. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND PUT IT IN PARK. WHEN I REVVED THE GAS PEDAL THE RPMS WENT UP. I SAT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKE IT STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD. I WAITED FOR THE TRAFFIC TO CLEAR THEN GAVE IT GAS AND I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE FREEWAY AND BROUGHT THE CAR HOME SAFELY. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG BUT WITH NO TROUBLE LIGHTS COMING ON THE DASH AND BEING UNABLE TO HAVE A SCANNER CHECK IT D/T NO TROUBLE LIGHTS COMING ON WE ARE CLUELESS. AFTER A DAY OR TWO, THE KNOCKING BEGAN TO BE MORE FREQUENT. I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR STATIONARY AND THE KNOCKING WILL OCCUR WITH A SLIGHT TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO CAUSING BY WHEEL TO BE VERY LOOSE. I DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF AT THE LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY RECOMMENDED THE STEERING COUPLER BE REPLACED. I DECLINED SERVICES AT THAT TIME AND TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER KIA DEALERSHIP. ALL I DID WAS PULL INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LANE AND SPOKE TO A SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE EXPLAINING WHAT ISSUES I AM HAVING WITH MY STEERING AND HE IMMEDIATELY SAID " I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO LOOK AT YOUR CAR I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS; IT IS THE STEERING COUPLER, WE SEE THIS ALL THE TIME BUT KIA WILL NOT RECALL THE SOUL MODEL FOR THIS ISSUE." I THEN WENT HOME AND RESEARCHED KIA VEHICLES TO FIND THE OPTIMA VEHICLES HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND WERE RECALLED. I THEN CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE 1-800 -333-4542 AND SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT STATING I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING AND ASKED WHY THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED ON SOULS AS I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND OTHER KIA MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY INFORMATION WAS TAKEN AND I AM EXPECTING A CALL WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS FROM THE DEPARTMENT PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGER AS THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AFTER 60,000 MILES AND I CURRENTLY 66,815 MILES. I BELIEVE KIA SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THEIR PRODUCT!

THE ENGINE HAS ISSUES THAT HAVE CAUSED THE TIMING BELT TO BE OFF. CAUSEING THE VEHICLE TO NOT WORK.
AFTER A MONTH OF LEASING MY KIA MY ENGINE LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT KEPT REAPPEARING. SO I WOULD CHECK ALL THE FLUIDS. THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHT TURNED OFF AND DIDN'T TURN ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THAN THE OIL LIGHT TURNED ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. ALL THE FLUIDS WERE CHECKED. ON A 15 MINUTE DRIVE INTO TOWN IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER NOT APPEARING FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. LATER ON IN THE AFTERNOON DRIVING BACK TO THE RESIDENCE THE RADIATOR CAP FLEW OFF INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT MAKING THE CAR OVERHEAT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER SEEING THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE GO UP I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT WAS LEFT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN I REPLACED THE CAP. IT WAS RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH SO I TOOK THE CAR TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE THE CODES READ. SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE CAR JUST DIED AND COULD NOT START IT WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER. TOOK IT TO KIA AFTER AND WAS TOLD SPARK PLUGS HAD MELTED TO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER A YEAR OF SITTING I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO TRY TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE CAR. SO I DID READ WATCH AND REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH ALLOWED THE CAR TO START BUT NOW THE CAR IDLES REALLY ROUGH AND THERE IS SOME WEIRD NOISES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IT ALSO STILL HAS A PROBLEM STARTING.
BATTERY REPLACED 2/18. INSTALLED W/ ROTORS & BRAKE PADS BY DEALERSHIP AFTER THIS MY CAR WOULD NOT START. IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT WOULD NOT EVEN MAKE A NOISE. ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT ON. ALARM WORKED (INSTALLED BY DEALERSHIP). I GOT OUR OF CAR LOCKING IT & TRIED TO START MANUALLY, STILL NOTHING. 1 OF THE TIMES I TRIED IT THE RADIO WENT ON. AFTER APPR. 6X'S THE CAR STARTED BUT IDLING EXTREMELY LOW. KIA DEALERSHIP GOT THE CAR THAT DAY, THEY HAD CAR FOR 9 DAYS & COULD NOT REPLICATE ISSUE. I GOT CAR BACK 3 WKS LATER SAME ISSUE. CLOCK HAD BEEN BEHIND 20ISH MIN THAT WK. I THOUGHT IT WAS ODD. 3/18/18 (SAME WK CAR TIME WAS OFF), I TRIED STARTING MANY X'S. EVERYTHING WAS THE SAME, I NOTICEDI WHEN DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON,I DON'T HAVE. RADIO WOULD GO ON & OFF. I CALLED KIA,CAR WAS NOT STARTING, I WAS HAVING IT TOWED TO THEM. MADE VIDEO OF TRYING TO START CAR.THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THEY MENTIONED REPLACING IGNITION. IF YOU GOOGLE KIA SOUL STARTING ISSUES, THERE ARE PAGES OF THEM. ALL WITH SAME DESCRIPTION. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE ISSUE. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG ELECTRICALLY IN SOME OF THE SOULS. IT DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE LIMITED TO ANY PARTICULAR YEAR. DEALERSHIPS KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE, DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND RANDOMLY REPLACE THINGS. DIDN'T FIX ISSUE. PEOPLE ONLINE STATED THEY GOT SO FRUSTRATED AND TRADED IN VEHICLE. I HOPE IT DOES NOT COME TO THAT WITH ME.THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OR REMEDY FOR THIS SITUATION. IF YOU GOOGLE IT YOU WILL GET SO MANY PAGES ON THIS ISSUE WITH KIA SOUL, ALL YEARS. AS I WAS DRIVING ACROSS, WITH A GREEN LIGHT, A SIX LANE (PLUS ADDITIONAL TURN LANES) CITY STREET AT PERHAPS 25 MPH, A DRIVER RUNNING HER RED LIGHT STRUCK MY VEHICLE BROAD SIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I DO NOT KNOW HER SPEED BUT CAN SAY THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE ROAD SHE WAS TRAVELING IS 40 MPH. THE REASON FOR THIS REPORT IS THAT THE IMPACT CAUSED THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SNAP OFF AND BECOME AN AIRBORNE MENACE. THE MIRROR GAVE ME A LARGE LUMP JUST ABOVE MY RIGHT EYE AND CAUSED A CONTUSION ON MY RIGHT CHEEK THAT AFTER BLEEDING PROFUSELY NEEDED FOUR STITCHES TO CLOSE. I WAS LUCKY. THE JAGGED EDGE THAT CUT MY CHEEK WAS ONLY A COUPLE INCHES FROM MY EYE AND POTENTIAL BLINDNESS. THE MIRROR'S (MODEL ZTVHL3) PHYSICAL CONNECTION FAILED AT THE JUNCTURE OF THE BALL JOINT AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD AND THE METAL CONDUIT AT THE REAR OF THE MIRROR. THE METAL WAS UNABLE TO WITHSTAND THE FORCE OF THE SIDE IMPACT AND TORQUED OUT OF SHAPE. THE WIRING ALONE WAS UNABLE TO HOLD THE MIRROR IN PLACE, AND THE MIRROR WENT AIRBORNE.
