TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WOULD REPEATEDLY FEEL ABNORMAL BOUNCING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. SECONDLY, WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, SHE WOULD HEAR A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE ACCOMPANIED WITH MILD SLIDING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED FOUR TIMES WITHIN ONE YEAR. AS OF MARCH 10, 2009, ALL THE REMEDIES HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN RESOLVING THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V359001 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT). THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. WHILE MAKING RIGHT AND LEFT TURNS AT 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING FELT LOOSE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THE RECALL WAS CLOSED IN DECEMBER OF 2000 BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
MY 2000 LINCOLN LS WAS TAKEN IN TO GET A MISFIRE FIXED. I NOTICED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE FELT LOOSE, SO I ASKED TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE BALL JOINTS AND THAT THEY WERE A SAFETY CONCERN. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, HE SAID IT WOULD COST $1,200 DOLLARS. PRIOR TO TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALER I READ ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE FRONT END BALL JOINTS. WHEN I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER AND SAID MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. I CHECKED THIS OUT MYSELF AND FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED. THIS PROBLEM CREATING A GREAT CONCERN FOR ME, AND NOW FEAR DRIVING MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THIS CAR. AT THIS TIME I AM UNABLE TO PAY THE $1200 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD PAY TO HAVE THIS SAFETY PROBLEM FIXED ON MY CAR. *CN
I JUST WANTED TO MAKE YOUR ORGANIZATION AWARE OF THIS CONTINUED PROBLEM. ON THE 19TH OF DECEMBER 2007 MY DAUGHTERS EXPERIENCED A MAJOR BREAKDOWN WITH HER 2000 LINCOLN LS. SHE WAS SLOWING TO A STOP SIGN WHEN THE PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL COLLAPSED AND THE BODY OF THE CAR DROP ONTO THE TIRE. AFTER HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO A MIDAS SHOP IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BALL JOINT NUT HAD WORKED ITS WAY OFF OF THE BOLT AND THE BOLT THEN BROKE UNDER THE PRESSURE. AFTER TALKING WITH THE MECHANIC STAFF AT THE MIDAS SHOP, (WHO HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS), I DECIDED TO LOOK ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR POSSIBLE RE-CALL ISSUES FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THAT MORE THAN 83K OF THIS YEAR & MODEL VEHICLE HAD BEEN RE-CALLED. I THEN RAN MY DAUGHTER'S CAR'S VIN THROUGH THE SYSTEM ONLY TO FIND IT HAD NOT BEEN RE-CALLED. I WOULD AT THIS TIME LIKE TO REPORT THAT HER CAR AS I'M SURE OTHERS THAT WERE PRODUCED DURING THE SAME TIME HAS THE SAME DEFECT OR ASSEMBLY OVERSIGHT. BASICALLY FROM WHAT I CAN TELL THE COMPLAINTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE JUST ABOUT EVERY COMPLAINT I HAVE READ I HAVE EXPERIENCED AS A MATTER OF FACT THE DEALER CAN TELL YOU IN ADVANCE WHAT IS GOING TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER ADVOCATE IS WHO IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB IN MAKING FORD FIX THESE HAZARD TRAPS. *TR
SAFETY DEFECT.. DEFECTIVE LOWER BALL JOINTS 2000 LINCOLN LS WITH 85,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND YOU FEEL UNSAFE STEERING THE CAR. I AM TOLD IT IS SO BAD THAT IF IT COMPLETELY FAILS IT THE WHEEL/S WILL SEPARATE FROM THE CAR. FORD HAS SINCE IMPROVED THE PART, A LARGER SIZED BALL JOINT NOW 16MM VS. 14MM. DEALER REPAIR QUOTE @ $1100, $600 FOR THE PARTS ALONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING FAILURE WITH THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. HE HEARD A LOUD GRINDING AND SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. A MECHANIC AT AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE "SHOT" AND COULD POSE A SERIOUS THREAT IF THEY WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, FORD STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V359001 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. UPDATED 06/16/08 *BF
OIL LEAK FROM VALVE COVER ONTO COIL CAUSING FAILURE. FORD KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND ONLY RECALLED 2003 LINCOLN LS VEHICLES THIS YEAR. I HAVE A 2000 LINCOLN LS AND THEY WONT HELP ME. IT COST ME OVER $1400.00 BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED IN OCTOBER THIS YEAR. 1 MONTH LATER I HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE GONE OUT TWICE IN SAME CAR. DRIVER FRONT AND PASSENGER REAR ON SAME DAY. *TR
I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY LINCOLN. WHEN THE COILS GO BAD THE CAR STARTS MISSING. I WAS STOPPED BEING A SCHOOL BUS WHEN MY RPM'S SURGED TO 6500 AND MY CAR JOLTED FORWARD. AFTER THE BUS STARTED UP, I GAVE THE CAR LITTLE GAS TO GO, AND IT STALLED. IT STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE THE EVENING BEFORE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT 3 COILS WERE OUT. I HAVE HAD THE SAME SITUATION 3 OR 4 OTHER TIMES. MY 2000 LINCOLN LS HAS HAD SEVERAL COILS REPLACED. MECHANIC FINALLY DETERMINED THAT THE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS BAD. AFTER REPLACING THE GASKETS, 3 COILS WENT OUT WITHIN SEVERAL DAYS. I THINK THAT FROM MY RESEARCH, THE VALVE COVER GASKETS ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND COILS REPLACED OR REIMBURSEMENT MADE FOR COILS ALREADY REPLACED. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE CAR SURGES AND STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. ONE YEAR AGO, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND WHENEVER IT DROVE OVER A BUMP OR DENT IN THE ROAD. ONE MONTH AGO, THE VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT AFTER THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A BUMP OR DENT IN THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 25 AND 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V359001 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT) WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY OF 2001. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY INSPECTED AT THAT TIME AND NO RECALL REPAIR HAD BEEN MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE FEELS FORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. UPDATED 10/31/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHILE PARKED ON A FLAT SURFACE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 29,688.
POWER WINDOW SWITCH, DRIVER SIDE, AND MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH ON STEERING COLUMN MALFUNCTIONING. BOTH HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BEFORE BUT ARE AGAIN NOT RESPONDING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE AIR BAG LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF AND THEN REMAINS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WILL HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED ON AUGUST 28, 2007. A VALID VIN AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
WHENEVER THERE IS A POTHOLE OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE SUSPENSION. I WAS THE TOLD THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED REPLACING AND AN ALIGNMENT NEEDED. THIS WAS DONE BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS. THIS IS ON A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED AT AROUND 50,000 MILES. THE BALL JOINTS AND ALIGNMENT WERE DONE AT AROUND 190,000 MILES WITH NO DIFFERENCE IN THE CONDITION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH THE HEAD AND TAIL LIGHTS CONSTANTLY FAILED AND THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE HAVE FAILED TWICE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINTS, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT SHE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SINCE JULY 2007, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND BEGAN TO IDLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT GIVE A PROPER DIAGNOSIS. THE HOSES, EGR VALVE, THERMOSTAT, COOLING SYSTEM FAN AND O2 SENSOR WERE REPLACED AT A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,813. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A SNAPPING NOISE AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 80,000.

WHILE DRIVING 25MPH AND MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AS THOUGH IT HAD A FLAT TIRE. WHEN OBSERVING THE VEHICLE, THE TIRES WERE NOT DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN STEERING TO THE LEFT ON ITS OWN. THE SERVICE ENGINE AND AIRBAG LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BALL JOINTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID:00V359001 IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE AND REPAIRS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEALER; HOWEVER, HIS VIN IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS ARE UNAVAILABLE.
MY 2000 LINCOLN LS V8 FREQUENTLY ACCELERATES ON IT'S OWN. THERE IS NO RESPONSE TO BRAKING AND PUTTING IT IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, THE RPM RISES TO 3K. IT ONLY STOPS EVENTUALLY ON ITS OWN OR AFTER IT'S BEEN TURNED OFF FOR A LITTLE WHILE. RECENTLY, THIS HAS CAUSED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE TO RED-LINE. THE ENGINE DOES NOT ACTUALLY OVERHEAT, BUT THE CAR REACTS AS SUCH AND POWER TO THE ENGINE IS REDUCED. MY LOCAL LINCOLN DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE 3 TIMES WITHOUT SUCCESS. THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE BEHAVIOR ON ONE OCCASION, BUT STILL COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I'VE READ A FEW RELATED COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER LS OWNERS REGARDING THIS UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. THIS COULD POSSIBLY HIT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A STOP. THE BRAKES NEED TO BE APPLIED REALLY HARD TO BRING TO A STOP WHEN THIS OCCURS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN IT RAINS, THE FAILURE IS PERSISTENT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE SPARK PLUG COIL. THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER THE VEHICLE'S EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 60 AND 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE MISFIRES. THE PURCHASE DATE, ENGINE SIZE, AND A VALID VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 46,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THE VIN SHOWS THE PART WAS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL AND IT IS NOW THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 108,000.
2000 LINCOLN LS GAVE WARNINGS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, TRACTION CONTROL PROBLEMS, SERVICE ENGINE PROBLEMS. THE CAR WOULD DIE COMPLETELY AFTER ACCELERATION VIA STANDARD METHOD OR VIA CRUISE CONTROL.*AK MULTIPLE FORD DEALER VISITS HAD THE COILS REPLACED AND EXCESSIVE DIAGNOSTICS DONE BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS. DEALER WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE CAR DYING IN NORMAL OPERATING SITUATIONS. FORD CLAIMED THAT THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF SUCH A PROBLEM. LINCOLN DEALER KNEW THAT THE OIL COVERS LEAKED AND FILLED THE SPARK PLUG WELLS, IN TURN CAUSING ELECTRICAL SHORTS AND FAILURES.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. THE AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF THE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND HE SHOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS AND RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY OTHER OCCURRENCES SINCE THE REPLACEMENT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 76,100.

THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT, BUT SHE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE. THE VIN IS UNKNOWN AND THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED HAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A FORD DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 119,000.

MY CAR BEGAN HAVING STEERING PROBLEMS WITH SPEED OF 40 MPH AND/OR IF I HIT A RUT IN THE ROAD. I CONTACTED A PRIVATE SHOP THAT DEALT WITH SUSPENSION PROBLEMS AND HAD IT REPAIRED. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE IT DID NOT FEEL RIGHT. MY HUSBAND SAID THAT IT WOULD PROBABLY NEED TO BE DRIVEN FOR IT TO BE THE SAME. NINETEEN DAYS LATER WHILE I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WITH MY HUSBAND AS A PASSENGER, THE CAR MADE A HUGE NOISE AND WENT OUT OF CONTROL. I LOOKED OUTSIDE MY DOOR (DRIVER SIDE) AND MY FRONT WHEEL WAS SIDEWAYS AND OFF OF THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED HOME THAT NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WAS TOLD BACK TO THE SHOP THAT DID THE WORK. THE OWNER OF THE PRIVATE SHOP DOESN'T FEEL LIKE HE DID ANYTHING WRONG. I EXPLAINED TO HIM, THAT I WANTED IT FIXED CORRECTLY WITH ALL NEW PARTS (THERE ARE OTHER DAMAGES TO THE CAR). HE CALLED HIS INSURANCE COMPANY AND I IN TURN CALLED MINE. I THEN WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR PRIOR TO MY PURCHASING THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM, DID NOT HAVE A RECORD OF THE RECALL. THEY HAVE REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP OUT OF MY STATE. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THE BOLT HOLDING THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT WAS SO LOSE I COULD TURN IT WITH MY FINGERS. THE PROBLEM IS EXACTLY LIKE THE ISSUE IN RECALL 00S39. WHEN TALKING TO MY LOCAL DEALER AS WELL AS LINCOLN DIRECTLY THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE MY CAR EVEN THOUGH I AS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *NM

AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES CODE 36 THEN GOES STEADY. THE LIGHT FLASHES THREE FLASHES, PAUSES THEN FLASHES SIX FLASHES, THEN PAUSES AND REPEATS SEQUENCE. IT DOES THIS SEQUENCE ABOUT FIVE TIMES THEN THE LIGHT GOES ON STEADY. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH FOR CLUES, I LOOKED UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND FOUND A BROKEN WIRE ON A YELLOW CONNECTOR. THIS YELLOW CONNECTOR IS FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I TALKED TO THE LOCAL DEALER ABOUT IT, AND HE SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM SINCE IT AFFECTS SAFETY. THE VEHICLE HAS TO HAVE AIRBAGS BY LAW, BUT I GUESS THEY DON'T HAVE TO WORK. THE EMISSION SYSTEM IS STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IS NOT A MATTER OF SAFETY, GO FIGURE!*JB
