This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.
I was driving home from work thru a construction area and all of a sudden my power steering/collision warning came on and the signal with the slippery tire car symbol. My power steering went out i almost hit a concrete wall but was able to steer car in development off main road Power steering out and will not operate. Says no recalls on 2010 but online same issue with 2012 and has recall im lucky i was seriously hurt or killed. Shooken up in Florida
Front sub frame rusted out completely on drivers side, passenger side is fine. The frame could separate at any time which could cause you to loss control of car without warning. Took car to get lower control arm replaced and repair shop saw rust damage to sub frame and took pictures. Called Ford to tell them about issue, they are having a dealer inspect it on 11/25/2022.
4th time in 12 years that the moonroof has broken and the side shields that hold each side in place need to be replaced. This is a recurrent issue at least with me on this vehicle causing my roof to stay open until fixed. Not sure if tis because the roof is so big or if its just faulty equipment/engineering. But I think every three years is a bit much
There is an apparent transmission issue and, according to my research, it is somewhat common with this model vehicle. There is an intermittent problem with shift delay and/or "jumping" during acceleration from first gear. Often happens at stopped position at light and is dangerous if turning in front of oncoming traffic. I was hoping for a recall on this issue, but guess I'll have to take it to a repair shop at my expense. As for any warning lights.... about a month ago, the check engine light came on while we were traveling, but went away on its own by the time we got home a couple days later, so don't know if it is related or not? Below ask when "incident"occurred, but it has happened multiple times so I will just list first approximate date.
I was driving the car and the power steering went completely out without warning and almost caused a serious collison. After researching the car I found that there were multile issues with the power steering modules on these vehicles, this car needs to be repaired by the manufacturer, this is a defect.
The steering all of a sudden became impossible to turn the vehicle. I almost had an accident trying to get over to the shoulder. While pulling over on the shoulder the warning signal on the mirror didn’t tell me that another car was next to me. These issues could have cost me my life
TURBO HAS GONE OUT BUT THIS MAKES THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED. I HAVE INVESTIGATED THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHERS AND HAVE FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE TURBOS! I NOTICE IT SMOKES EXCESSIVE AND WAS TOLD ITS A FIRE HAZARD AND NOT TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET WHEN IT BEGAN LOSING POWER TO ACCELERATE!

THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER MALL OF GEORGIA FORD LOCATED AT 4525 NELSON BROGDON BLVD, BUFORD, GA 30518, (678) 515-9339, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING STEERING MODULE TO BE REPLACED. AT CERTAIN OF DRIVING OR STATIONARY THE POWER STEERING JUST QUITS WORKING AND THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL OVER TO SAFETY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.
THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ERROR MESSAGE STATES POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE, TYPICALLY DURING A HARD TURN AT LOW SPEED SUCH AS IN OR OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. 15V340000 RECALL IS FOR THE NEXT MODEL YEAR AND THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE STATED THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE FIXED UNDER THAT RECALL.
CATASTROPHIC WATER PUMP FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND WHITE PLUMES BURST FROM THE EXHAUST. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TO A SAFE PLACE BEFORE THE ENGINE FAILED COMPLETELY.
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A BRIDGE THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME UNABLE TO TURN. DURING LEFT TURNS THE STEERING IS OFTEN VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER.
I PURCHASED THE CAR USED A MONTH AGO. TODAY IS THE SECOND DAY THAT AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE DASH DISPLAYED A POWER STEERING FAULT MESSAGE. SURE ENOUGH I CAN BARELY STEER THE CAR. EACH TIME I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED 30 SECONDS, TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY.
I HAVE A 2010 LINCOLN MKT AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING. IT RANDOMLY STOPS WORKING AND IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE CAR. I ALMOST HIT A MAILBOX TODAY BECAUSE THE STEERING BECAME SO STIFF AND THE ALERT CAME UP ON MY DASH. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS BUT THE NHTSA RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE THE 2010 MODELS AS WELL. I HAVE CHILDREN AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD! I WON'T EVEN BE ABLE TO RESELL THE CAR IN THIS CONDITION AS IT IS RANDOM. PLEASE CONSIDER LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE PROMPTLY AS I CAN SEE THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS AND MY SITUATION IS NOT UNIQUE. I PRAY TO GOD I DON'T GET IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION AND WILL TRY TO AVOID USING THE INTERSTATE IN MEANTIME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME! PLEASE UPDATE ME AT [[XXX] OR [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE. 1. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEAR A LOUD EXPLOSION THAT WAS THE MOONROOF,. 2. THE WATER PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND PUT COOLANT INTO MY OIL AND RUINED THE ENGINE. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE HAPPENED WAY TOO MANY TIMES FOR THIS NOT TO BE A RECALL ON BOTH OF THESE. MY CAR LITERALLY OVERHEATED OUT OF NOWHERE.
ALTHOUGH THE WARNING WAS DISPLAYED, I WAS NOT AWARE THAT MY CAR ONLY HAD AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. THIS TYPE OF ISSUE IS ONE THAT CAN TRULY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SHOULD ONE IS DRIVING WHEN THEIR POWER STEERING GO OUT. THE POWER STEERING ON THIS CAR STOPS MORE THAN JUST YOUR STEERING WHEEL AND I FOR ONE THINK THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. IT'S A GOOD THING THAT I WAS PARKED AND GLAD BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME.
UPON STARTING THE CAR THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND A MESSAGE APPEARED SAYING STEERING MALFUNCTION.TWO DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND VERY NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH.
PERIODICALLY GETTING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND THE EPAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING QUITS WORKING. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, BUT IT ONLY INCLUDED 2011-2012 LINCOLN MKT/MKS AND FORD FLEX WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE ALSO INCLUDED 2010 MODELS. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED (STATIONARY) AND WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK AGAIN BY SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 LINCOLN MKT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT.
