The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that the windshield wipers became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. The consumer stated wipers are only turned on when raining, back warning only works when backing up, and unsure when the air bag light came on.
While accelerating approximate @ 30 mph, vehicle speed increased without assistance nearly plummeting into a body of water at a curve... exit 77 on I-95S MD. The car could not handled the curve at that rate of speed. Town Car had to be thrown into neutral and hard press brake pedal in order to stop. Safety issue could have been major accident or my death. I do not desire to reproduce a dangerous scenario with an accelerating vehicle. Dealership and private mechanic refused to reproduce incident. Zero warning lamps and nothing in computer to determine a problem/fix.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT CALLED IN REGARDS TO HAVING A BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HIT A TRUCK AND THE CURB. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED NO INJURY WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR BODY DAMAGE ESTIMATE AND REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, CASE WAS FILED, AND REFERRED TO CONTACT NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON FOR A YEAR BUT NOW ITS OFF BUT HAVE 25 BEEPS EVERYTIME I START CAR AND EVERY 20 MINUTES AFTER. FOUND IT WAS AB N AIRBAG ISSUE
BECAME HARD TO STEER WHILE DRIVING. LIKE LOSS OF POWER STEERING TO IT INTO BE CHECKED IT IS THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING. ALMOST LOST CONTROL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS RECALLED FOR SAME REASON. I CHECKED IT WAS RECALLED BUT SAYS 0 UNREPAIRED . BUT SAYS SOME WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY I HAVE LESS THAN 95,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A ROAD WITH OUT NOTICED
"TAKATA RECALL." I NOTICED A FEW WEEKS AGO THAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE 28000 ACTUAL MILES ON THE 2005 LINCOLN TOWN CAR THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. I HAVE NOT HAD A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO CHECK IT OUT AND LET ME KNOW OF ANY RECALLS ON THE AIRBAGS.
AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES 3 TIMES 5 TIMES AND THEN STAYS ON. NO ACCIDENTS 28000 ACTUAL MILES.

TIGHT STEERING/REPAIRED BY DEALER 7/31/2017( RECALL # 13S08)...TIGHT STEERING AGAIN 8/1/2018 WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC( NON-DEALER) WAS STEERING PUMP, TURNED OUT TO BE UPPER INTERMITTENT STEERING SHAFT, I BELIEVE WHEN THE LOWER WAS REPLACED IT WOULD HAVE MADE SENSE TO REPLACE THE UPPER AS WELL, LOOKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR AT LEAST PART $310.10 TO BE PAID TO MECHANIC @ JOES AUTO MALL /NEW BEDFORD MA
THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN A PARKING LOT AT 5-10 MILES/HOUR. IT RAPIDLY ACCELERATED AND WAS STOPPED ONLY AFTER BOTH FEET ON BRAKE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE USED. THE SKID MARKS ARE 32' LONG. THERE WERE MANY WITNESSES BECAUSE IT WAS IN A CHURCH PARKING LOT AT THE END OF SUNDAY SERVICE.

I WAS PARKING AT APPLEBEES WHEN THE CAR BOLTED AND SLAMMED IN THE WALL. I TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK BUT WENT IN REVERSE ALSO AT HGH SPEED. FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE AND GO TO PARK. I'M CONCERNED. I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE ACCELEATOR. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO CHECK MY CAR OUT.
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON.
WHILE IN MOTION VEHICLE ENGINE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. NOT A DRIVER ERROR PROBLEM. THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ENGINE REVVING HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING IN THE CITY AND SLOWING DOWN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. CAN CONTROL THE ENGINE REVVING UP BY PLACING TRANSMISSION ON NEUTRAL, STOPPING CAR TURN IGNITION TO OFF. RESTART ENGINE AND ENGINE BEHAVES PROPERLY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER 0N 9/22/16. DEALER KEPT CAR TO ATTEMPT DUPLICATING PROBLEM. CAR RETURNED CAR TO ME ON 10/20/16. DEALER SAYS NO PROBLEM DETECTED. THIS ACCELERATION PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES GOING BACK TO SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE NEW CAR. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN GOOD FAITH. I NOW BELIEVE THAT THE DEALER AND LINCOLN SOLD ME A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH PASSENGERS AND SAFETY FOR OTHER PERSONS. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED PROBABLY ABOUT 20 TIMES AND REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES TO NO AVAIL.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON, AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC VALVE IN THE FUEL INJECTOR SEIZED IN THE OPEN POSITION AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
JUST CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAY THAT NHTSA, ISSUES THE RECALLS ,NOT FORD MOTOR COMPANY, WHY HAVEN;T YOU ISSUED ONE FOR THIS MODEL CAR? YOU WOULD THINK FORD WOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT OUR SAFETY, THEY DON;T CARE AND NEITHER DOES NHTSA.....HOW MANY PEOPLE , INCLUDING CHILDREN MUST DIE BEFORE YOU ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE? AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. SHOP ESTIMATE IS APPROXIMATELY $1300 TO REPLACE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSIONERS. CAR HAS ONLY 77,000 MILES ON IT AND GARAGE KEPT SINCE HAVE HAD IT IN THE FAMILY FOR THE PAST 50,000 MILES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
I JUST PURCHASED A USED 2005 LINCOLN. THE 1ST DAY OF/DURING DRIVING IT, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN MOVING MY RIGHT FOOT ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. DOING SO, 3 DIFFERENT TIMES, THE VEHICLE LEAPT FORWARD. (I'VE HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING IN THE PAST TO OLDER FOLKS DRIVING INTO BUILDINGS.) I HAVE COME TO BE AWARE THAT WHEN MOVING THE RIGHT FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE BRAKE PEDAL VIA ROLLING ON THE HEEL OF YOUR FOOT, THAT THE RIGHT OUTTER EDGE OF YOUR SHOE-SOLE CONTACTS THE ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW OR STOP THE VEHICLE. NO UPLOADS OR ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS PROVIDED.

AT LEST 14 TIMES, ALL OUR LIGHTS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE GO OFF AND STAY OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. SO FAR THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE DAYTIME AND WE, PURPOSELY, DO NOT DRIVE IT AT NIGHT AS CANNOT TRUST IT TO NOT OCCUR AGAIN. WE LIVE ON A RESTRICTIVBE BUDGET SO HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT REPAIRED. IMMEDIATE UNINITIATED TREMENDOUS ENGINE ACCELERATION AFTER SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. I HAD TO JAM THE BRAKE ON AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL UNTIL THE ACCELERATION STOPPED. THIS HAS OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY APPROXIMATELY FIVE OTHER TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF EIGHT YEARS.
AFTER STARTING THE CAR WHILE PARKED, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, AS SOON AS I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE THE ENGINE ACCELERATED WITHOUT ME PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND I HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD, I JAMMED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE STILL CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE TO A HIGH RPM, I HAD TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF TO GET IT TO STOP ACCELERATING. I HAD SEVERAL CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WE ALMOST HIT THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF US. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME IN 4 MONTHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THEY FOUND NOTHING! I POINTED OUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEMS FOR FORDS BETWEEN THE YEARS 2002 AND 2010 BUT THEY DENIED KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. OBVIOUSLY THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS AND I AM NOW LEFT WITH A DANGEROUS CAR AND FORD DENIES THIS IS A PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND LIGHTLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR ACCELERATED TO AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPEED IN A PARKING LOT AND I STOOD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD BUT THE CAR KEPT ACCELERATING ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. I HAD TO JAM THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL TO KEEP THE CAR FROM CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE AND THE RPM'S OF THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING IN THE PARKING LOT AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN TWO WEEKS IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V385000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED SIX MONTHS PRIOR AT ANOTHER DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS COULD NOT BE PERFORMED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE DRIVERS INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BECAME UNSECURED FROM DOOR PANEL. UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING AND WAS INFORMED THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. THERE WERE NO OPTIONS GIVEN, EXCEPT THAT THE PART WOULD HAVE TO COME FROM A SALVAGE YARD. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN OVER THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE, SHOULD A COLLISION OR FIRE OCCUR, THE OCCUPANT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, AND HE IS GOING TO SECURE THE HANDLE TOMORROW, SO I CAN OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. *TR
WE HAVE A 2005 LINCOLN TOWN CAR WITH 87000 MILES WHEN IT RAINS THE REAR R FLOOR GETS A LOT OF WATER. THE WATER COMES FROM A DEFECTIVE SEAL IN THE AC/HEAT SYSTEM ? PROBABLY AROUND THE FAN MOUNT FOR THE HEATING /COOLING. AND ? MORE TROUBLE ? WHEN WE BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY IN WET WEATHER ? THE CAR FROZE IN PLACE ? AS IF WE HAD HIT A WALL. IT WOULD STILL GO FORWARD. HAPPENED HALF A DOZEN TIMES ? ALWAYS RAINING. EXCEPT ONE RAINY SUNDAY, JUST OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY LEAVING FOR CHURCH, IT FROZE DRIVING FORWARD. WELL, THERE WAS NO CODE. THERE WAS NO REPORT OF A DEFECT FROM THE CAR'S ON-BOARD COMPUTER. NO FAULT CODES AT ALL. JUST AN INDICATION, TOLD US AS: ?THE ACCUMULATOR WAS LEAKING OR THERE IS A BINDING CONCERN? WHEN THEY TOOK THE CAR OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE CONNECTED TO A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL. AND FROM THIS [XXX] IS ABLE TO TELL US WE NEED TO REPLACE A $4000 TRANSMISSION. PLUS LABOR, OF COURSE. WE PAID $120 TO A LEAK DOCTOR REPAIR TECH TO FIX THE WATER LEAK ON THE ENGINE SIDE OF THE FIREWALL. THE WATER LEAK SEEMS TO BE RESOLVED AND THE TRANNY LOCKING UP PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER I START THE VEHICLE AND FASTEN THE DRIVER SEAT BELT, THE VEHICLE GENERATES A SERIES TO 5 CHIME SOUNDS AND THEN PAUSES FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN IT REPEATS THE 5 CHIME SOUNDS. THE SET OF 5 CHIME SOUNDS ARE REPEATED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES TOTALING 25 CHIME SOUNDS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHIME PATTERN SOUNDS AGAIN EXACTLY AS BEFORE AFTER THE VEHICLE IS IN USE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, THEN THE CHIME SEQUENCE REPEATS ITSELF APPROXIMATELY EVERY 30 MINUTES THEREAFTER. THERE ARE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS SHOWN IN THE DASHBOARD, AND NEITHER ARE THERE ANY AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHTS ON BEFORE OR AFTER THE CHIMES BEGIN TO SOUND. *TR
I HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND WAS DRIVING IT HOME FROM THE CAR DEALERSHIP. WHILE PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH MY RIGHT FOOT TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN SO FAR THAT MY RIGHT FOOT BEGAN TO ALSO PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE THAT SAME FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS MY RIGHT FOOT WAS THEN PRESSING ON BOTH PEDALS (BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR), THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE TOWARDS THE INTERSECTION BEING CONTROLLED BY THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND TOWARDS ANOTHER CAR THAT HAD STOPPED AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. TO AVOID PLOWING INTO THE BACK OF THE STOPPED VEHICLE, I SHIFTED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM "D" (DRIVE) TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND THEN MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED JUST BEFORE PLOWING INTO THE BACK OF THE STOPPED VEHICLE. STATED THAT MOST LIKELY THE DRIVER SIDE WOULD ALSO ULTIMATELY NEED REPLACEMENT AS WELL, AS IT IS A CONTINUAL AND ON-GOING PROBLEM! COST TO REPAIR ONE SIDE APPROX. $750.00 AFTER DISCOUNT. THIS CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED BY LINCOLN, NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT, AND ONLY HAS 35,500 MILES ON IT. DEALER ALSO STATED, THAT IT IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND IF NOT FIXED, AIR BAGS MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT.
