PUT CAR INTO REVERSE AND ALL WAS FINE. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT IT INTO DRIVE IT WOULDN'T ENGAGE IN DRIVE. AFTER A WHILE IT ENGAGED WITH A HARD CLUNK. WHEN I DROVE IT AND WOULD TRY TO ACCELERATE IT WAS THE SAME THING. AS IF THE CAR WAS NOT SHIFTING. THIS HAPPENED ON BOTH NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY.
BOUGHT NEW CAR; DRIVEN LESS THAN 400 MILES; THUDDING NOISE NOTICED PRETTY MUCH FROM DAY 1. GOT LOUDER. TOOK IT IN. THE RIGHT REAR HUB, AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WERE FAULTY AND HAD ALSO DAMAGED INNER DISC. THE DEALER FIXED IT BUT ASSURANCE OF "FAULTY PART, DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH MAZDA" NOW DOES NOT RING TRUE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME HAD I BEEN DRIVING LONG DISTANCE, FOR WHICH THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED.
PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CX-5 GRAND TOURING ON FEB 14, 2016. AFTER ONLY 1,300 MILES AND ABOUT 3 WEEKS, MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE DECIDED TO NEARLY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON ITS OWN AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN. IT WAS AS IF I HAD SHIFTED THE CAR INTO PARK WHILE DRIVING. ABRUPT STOP. HEARD A COUPLE BEEPS, SAW A WARNING LIGHT COME ON. DRIVER BEHIND ME NEARLY REAR ENDED ME. PULLED OVER, TURNED ON FLASHERS, GOT MY WHITS ABOUT ME. BEEPING GONE. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON. LOOK AROUND, FOOT OFF BREAK, MERGE BACK ONTO ROAD. CALL THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT DAY. DROP OFF CAR, TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED, ASK FOR LOANER WHILE THEY ARE LOOKING AT IT. NOPE, NO LOANERS BUT CAN ARRANGE RENTAL FOR $35/DAY. TELL ME THEY CAN DEFINITELY FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE IF WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IT WILL STORE THE EVENT IN THE ONBOARD COMPUTER. BORROW WIFE'S CAR CAUSE NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR RENTAL. SPEAK WITH THEM NEAR END IF DAY. WE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NO STORED EVENT IN ONBOARD COMPUTER. TELL ME IF YOU CANT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM FOR US NOTHING WE CAN DO. OH WELL. TAKE CAR HOME. DRIVES FINE FOR 2 MORE WEEKS. ITS NOW MARCH 18, CAR OWNED ABOUT 6-WEEKS, WITH APPROX 1,600 MILES. DAMNED IF IT DOESN'T DO EXACT SAME THING AGAIN 3:30PM ON FRIDAY. AMAZED DRIVER BEHIND ME DOESN'T REAR END ME. THIS TIME NO BEEPS OR WARNING LIGHT. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE
PURCHASED NEW 2016 MADACX5 IN APRIL 2015. WIFE WAS PULLING INTO THE GARAGE AND WAS ABOUT STOPPED WHEN IT LUNGED FORWARD STRIKING THE BACK WALL OF THE GARAGE. CAR WAS MOVING AT LESS THAN A MILE PER HOUR WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE.DAMAGE DONE TO VEHICLE AND GARAGE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WHO KEPT THE VEHICLE AND DROVE AND MONITORED IT FOR A WEEK. THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. MAZDA TOLD ME TO RETURN MY LOANER AND PICK UP MY VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM IT WAS UNSAFE. THEY WILL GIVE ME A DEAL ON A NEW VEHICLE. I WAS OUTSIDE WHEN MY WIFE ENTERED THE GARAGE AND WITNESSED THE INCIDENT.
I PURCHASED MY CAR ON SEPT 10, 2015. I CURRENTLY HAVE 6,300 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. WHEN AT A STOP LIGHT AND I STEP ON THE GAS TO GO, THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AND JUST REVS VERY LOUDLY. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE CAR ACCELERATES AND THE CAR JERKS PRETTY VIOLENTLY (TO THE POINT WHERE MY HEAD HITS THE BACK OF THE HEAD REST). THIS WAS VERY CONSISTENT ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. WHEN I WAS DRIVING UP AN INCLINE, THE CAR'S TIMING SEEMED TO BE OFF AS IT NEEDED TO DOWNSHIFT BUT COULDN'T WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE. I MADE IT HOME AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN NASHUA, NH. PER THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/22, THE CAR NEEDS A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE 25 F OR LOWER AND IT IS SNOWING OR RAINING IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE WINDSHIELD CLEAR OF ICE. WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS 25 TO 50 MPH ON LOCAL ROADS AND HIGHWAYS, THE SNOW WOULD MELT ON CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD, REFREEZE, AND THE WIPERS WOULD FREEZE SOLID AND NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD OVER THE MAJORITY OF THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD TO STOP EVERY SEVERAL MINUTES AND USE A SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE WINDSHIELD ICE TO SEE SAFELY. THIS CONDITION MAKES FOR VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS WINTER PRECIPITATION DRIVING. THE ONLY CHANCE OF OF GETTING MINIMAL VIEWING AREA WAS TO KEEP THE FUNCTION SELECTOR ON FULL DEFROST, THE TEMPERATURE SELECTOR ON FULL HEAT AND THE FAN ON HIGH. THIS WAS STILL A LOSING BATTLE AND EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAN NOISE IS INCREDIBLY LOUD, THE WIPERS ARE LOADED WITH ICE AND THUMPING ON THE WINDSHIELD AND YOUR FACE GETS RIDICULOUSLY HOT BECAUSE ON THE DEFROST FUNCTION MORE AIR IS DIRECTED BACK AT THE SIDE WINDOWS THAN IS DIRECTED AT THE WINDSHIELD. WHAT AN EXTREMELY POOR DESIGN AND FUNCTION OF A BASIC DEFROST SYSTEM. EVEN DURING COLD WEATHER WITH NO PRECIPITATION THE POOR FUNCTION OF THE DEFROST SYSTEM CANNOT KEEP THE WINDSHIELD FREE OF FOGGING OVER UNLESS THE SELECTORS ARE SET ON FULL FAN, HEAT AND DEFROST. NOW WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH A CAR THAT SHOULD BE A GREAT, SAFE ALL WHEEL DRIVE, ALL WEATHER VEHICLE IN NEW ENGLAND THAT CAN'T HANDLE DEFROSTING THE WINDSHIELD DURING OUR WINTERS.
THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN FAULTY SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. THERE IS A LOUD SCREAM THAT IS NOT FROM DUST OR WEAR. THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES ARE VERY LOUD EVERY TIME I APPLY THEM. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS, HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY BEFORE.
I'VE ONLY HAD MY MAZDA FOR 2 MONTHS AND NOTICED A CRACK ORIGINATING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT OCCURRED AFTER A HOT DAY COUPLED WITH A COLD NIGHT SO I SUSPECT THERE WAS A SMALL CRACK THAT HAPPENED WHEN I LEASED THE CAR AND IT GREW DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS. I'VE READ THAT THERE ARE TONS OF SIMILAR INCIDENCES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND ITS CONCERNING (ESPECIALLY SINCE THE REPLACEMENT IS $1,000).
ONLY GOT MY CAR FOR A MONTH :( AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY NOTICE THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED STARTED FROM THE TOP MIDDLE WHERE THE RARE MIRROR IS. THE CRACK IS NOW LONGER AND LONGER DAY BY DAY. MAYBE GOT HIT BY A TINY TINY LITTLE ROCK BUT THE DOT OF THE HIT WAS SO SMALL THAT IT COULD HARDLY BE SEEN. I BELIEVE THAT IT'S CHEAP WINDSHIELD THAT MAZDA IS USING. ALL THE BS HOW SAFETY THIS CAR IS......
ANYONE CAN START AND STEAL ANY NEW MAZDA THRU THIS METHOD! ASSUME YOU'RE CONNECTED USING MAZDA REMOTE - KEY-FOB OR MOBILE. IT'S REGISTERED TO YOUR CAR. SO, WHEN YOU PRESS THE BUTTON/SCREEN IT SENDS "WHATEVER" TO TRANSMITTER. TRANSMITTER'S INPUT SIDE IS COUPLED EXCLUSIVELY WITH THAT ITEM AND SO TRANSMITTER RECOGNIZES IT AS AUTHENTIC. NOW, HERE'S WHERE THE SECURITY CHAIN BREAKS. TRANSMITTER'S OUTPUT SIDE, SENDS A SET VOLT(?), SHORTS(?), SERIES OF SIGNALS(?) INTO THE COUPLER OF THE CAR TO WHICH IT'S CONNECTED. THE WHITE 3-PRONG CONNECTOR - PASSENGER SIDE. IF URY-RIG THAT COUPLER AND SENT THE SAME SET OF OUTPUT THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTS UP ANYONE WITH A DECENT MEASURING TOOL CAN CAPTURE THE TRANSMITTER'S OUTPUT WHEN ITS SENDING BY REMOVING THE CONNECTION FROM THE WHITE JACK AND CONNECTING IT TO HIS/HER TOOL BOX. ONCE DONE, IT'LL WORK ACROSS ALL CX(X) SERIES. THAT'S WHY THE REMOTE KEY-FOBS ARE SO EXPENSIVE @ MAZDA. THEY HAVE ALL THE SECURITY LOGIC, THE TRANSMITTER'S RATHER DUMB. BUT: I KNOW AFTER I HAVE REMOTE STARTED THE CAR, AS SOON AS I OPEN THE DOOR, THE CAR SHUTS DOWN. HERE HOWEVER, IMPOSER WAS ALREADY INSIDE THE CAR. SO, THAT SECURITY FEATURE HE WAS ABLE TO BYPASS.
NTSB: 2016 MAZDA CX-5. CONSUMER STATED THE CHROME TRIM ON THE VENTILATION OUTLET CAUSES A REFLECTION IN EXTREME WEATHER WHICH BLOCKS THE VIEW IN THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR. *SS
2016 CX-5 IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD AND ALREADY ON ITS THIRD WINDSHIELD. THE FILED COMPLAINT LIST FOR THIS CAR IS JUST ONE CRACKED WINDSHIELD AFTER ANOTHER AND DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO FAIL AT AROUND 1800 MILES. CAR WOULD HESITATE TO ENGAGE IN GEAR FROM A STOP, AND ALSO WOULD JUST SPIN BEFORE ENGAGING IN A NEW GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION PER MAZDA RECOMMENDATION. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT ON THIS MODEL.
1600 MILES IN, TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED BY DEALER. SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, IT WOULD TAKE 2-5 SECONDS TO ENGAGE. DEALER INDICATES MAZDA'S SOLUTION TO PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION.
THE CAR HAS ABOUT 6300 MILES ON IT AND WE BOUGHT IT NEW. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, EARLY JANUARY 2016, THE CAR "INFOTAINMENT" SYSTEM SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED ITSELF. THIS INCLUDES NAVIGATION, BLUETOOTH (MUSIC, PHONE ETC) AND THE OVERALL CAR MONITORING SYSTEM. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 4 TIMES DURING A 45 MINUTE COMMUTE. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES PREVIOUSLY BUT ONLY ONCE PER TRIP, PERHAPS DUE TO SHORTER TRIPS. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY DISCERNIBLE PATTERN. IT IS CONCERNING IF IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, AS THE WHOLE CAR IS BASICALLY ELECTRONIC, INCLUDING STEERING! (NO STEERING FLUID FOR EXAMPLE, ALL ELECTRIC) IT IS GOING TO THE DEALER TO BE CHECKED OUT THIS WEEK. I CAN SEE THE NAVIGATION SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRIP ALSO BEING A PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S THE MAIN FORM OF GUIDANCE.
I HAVE A NEW 2016 MAZDA CX 5 GRAND TOURING. I AM ABOUT TO HAVE TO GET MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME DUE TO IT CRACKING. THE FIRST OCCURANCE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I HEARD A "CRACK" AND LOOKED OVER AND NOTICED A SHATTER LIKE CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THE SIZE OF A SILVER DOLLAR THAT QUICKLY CRACKED OUT TO THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD WAS ON BACK ORDER DUE TO NONE BEING IN STOCK. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND FOR 2.5 MONTHS WITH A CRACKED WINDSHIELD UNTIL ONE FINALLY BECAME AVAILABLE. THE SECOND TIME IT OCCURRED WAS ABOUT THREE DAYS AGO. I HAD JUST PARKED MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AND WENT INSIDE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND CAME BACK OUT TO GRAB SOME THINGS AND NOTICED A CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ON THE BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD I HAD JUST PAID TO GET REPLACED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THERE IS A SMALL CHIP IN THE GLASS, HOWEVER, I FEEL LIKE IF A ROCK OR SOMETHING DID HIT MY WINDSHIELD, THE GLASS SHOULD NOT CRACK THAT EASILY. I HAVE OWNED PREVIOUS VEHICLES WHERE ROCKS HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD WITH NO ISSUES AT ALL. I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER CX5 OWNERS HAVE HAD WINDSHIELD ISSUES AS WELL WHICH MAKES ME THINK THERE MUST BE SOME TYPE OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE WINDSHIELD IS THE ONLY FRONT PROTECTION BETWEEN THE DRIVER AND THE ROAD.
CAR HAD A TOTAL OF 145 MILES, ONLY DRIVEN 4 DAYS SINCE NEW AND THERE IS A LARGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD, ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE STARTING AT THE VERY TOP AND EXTENDING DOWN PAST THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND CURVED TOWARD THE CENTER. NO ROCK HIT OR CHIPS CAUSED THIS.
2016 WITH LESS THAN 900 MILES AND A MONTH OLD. STARTED TO HESITATE WHEN PLACING IT IN DRIVE (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR IT HESITATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS BEFORE JUMPING INTO GEAR AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY ARE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION BUT THAT WILL TAKE A WHILE. THEY SAID THAT THE MAZDA TECHS HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND WANT TO LOOK AT MY TRANSMISSION. DID RESEARCH ON THE WEB AND FOUND THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.
ON 2 JANUARY 2016, WHILE TRAVELLING NORTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 880, AT APPROXIMATELY 3 PM, APPROACHING THE HEGENBERGER EXIT. I HEARD A A "CRACK SOUND", FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER "CRACK SOUND", AT WHICH TIME THE CRACK BECAME VISIBLE. GLASS CRACK EMANATING FROM PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD EDGE TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE, APPROXIMATELY 14 INCHES IN LENGTH.
BOUGHT 2016 CX-5 MID-SEPT, THEN STARTED EXPERIENCING 5-SECOND LAGS AFTER SHIFTING INTO DRIVE IN LATE DEC (APPROX 4,000 MILES ON VEHICLE). THE CAR WOULD HESITATE AND JERK, AS IF IT HAD BEEN IN NEUTRAL, DESPITE PRESSING DOWN ACCELERATOR GENTLY OR FULLY. ON NEW YEARS' DAY THE CAR WAS UNRELIABLE FROM A STOP, EVEN AFTER A MINUTE PRESSING ACCELERATOR IN DRIVE. 5 WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASH INCLUDING AT, ENGINE, TRANSAXLE WARNING, AND EMERGENCY, DRIVE ACTED LIKE NEUTRAL, SO IT WAS DANGEROUS TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION AFTER A STOP LIGHT. COULDN'T GET ABOVE 2000 RPM, AND THAT AFTER A SLOW RAMP-UP. STILL WORKED FINE IN REV WHICH ELIMINATED SOME POSSIBILITIES LIKE TRANS FLUID. CHECK IN WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MAZDA HAMILTON IMPORTS IN NJ 609-587-7600 TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE!

NO CHANGE WAS NOTED WHEN THE CAR WAS IDLING AT STOP SIGNS OR RED LIGHTS. WE HAD TO STOP EVERY SEVERAL MINUTES AND USE A SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE WINDSHIELD ICE TO SEE SAFELY. THIS CONDITION MAKES FOR VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS WINTER PRECIPITATION DRIVING. IRONICALLY, WE BOUGHT THIS ALL-WHEEL VEHICLE MAINLY FOR JUST THIS TYPE OF DRIVING IN SNOWY MOUNTAIN AREAS WHERE WE DRIVE FREQUENTLY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND INSPECTED UNDER WARRANTY. THE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE DEFROSTER AND WIPERS AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AS THE CARE DOES NOT PREFORM UNDER THE EXACT WINTER CONDITIONS WE PRIMARILY BOUGHT IT FOR.
THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 1,525 MILES. TODAY, AFTER 1,600 MILES THE DRIVER'S WINDOW AUTOMATIC UP/DOWN FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,797.
I HAVE A 2016 MAZDA CX-5 GRAND TOURING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT IT 9/28/15. YESTERDAY (12/9/15) WITH ONLY 4500 MILES ON IT, I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. REVERSE WAS OK, BUT IT WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY ENGAGING IN DRIVE. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULDN'T MOVE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN NOT ONLY WHEN I WAS STARTING OUT BUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT WOULD SLIP OUT OF GEAR. EVEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN CRUISE CONTROL, THE VEHICLE WOULD ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE BUT THE ENGINE WOULD JUST WIND UP AND IT WOULDN'T KICK IN. ONE POINT I WAS IN A PARKING LOT TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT-HAND TURN ONTO A ROAD AND WHEN THERE WAS A BREAK IN THE TRAFFIC I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT. THE CAR GOT PARTWAY ONTO THE ROAD AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO CONTINUE ACROSS INTO THE OTHER LANE. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. FROM THERE I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER WHERE I HAD GOTTEN THE VEHICLE. TWO MEN FROM THE SERVICE GARAGE TOOK THE CAR FOR A DRIVE AND SAID THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM EVERY TIME. THEY CALLED THE MAZDA HOTLINE AND WERE TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER VEHICLE AND ARE WAITING FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BE SENT TO THEM SO IT CAN BE REPLACED.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH A 2016 MAZDA CX-5 (7000 MILES) ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN (UNINTENDED ACCELERATION). THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK! IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF ME I SWERVED TO THE RIGHT, UNFORTUNATELY I HIT THE PARKED CAR WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO MOVED IT ABOUT 12 FEET FORWARD. MY VEHICLE CONTINUED GOING UP AN OVER A CURBED MEDIAN AND FINALLY CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AWAY WITH ENOUGH FORCE (BRAKES FINALLY WORKED) TO KNOCK MY GLASSES OFF AS MY HEAD JERKED FORWARD. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS EXAMINED AND DEEMED "WORKING AS DESIGNED". SUPPOSEDLY, INFORMATION WAS SENT TO MAZDA USA ENGINEERS, THE DEALER STATES THEY FOUND NOTHING UNUSUAL BUT HAVE NEVER GIVEN ME A WRITTEN REPORT STATING SO EVEN THOUGH I HAVE REQUESTED IT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER RECOMMENDATION WAS TO FIX THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR ($4400.00 WORTH) AND THEN THEY WOULD INSTALL A "SPECIAL BLACK BOX" AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW DAYS. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS, THE DEALER STILL SAYS THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. WE FEEL THAT MAZDA CORP SHOULD TAKE THIS VEHICLE BACK AND INSPECT IT THOROUGHLY FOR UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, AS WE DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE.
SEAT HEATER NOT WORKING PROPERLY FROM DATE OF PURCHASE 9/25/15. PART ARRIVED FROM JAPAN INSTALLED 11/9/15. 3 HRS LATER CONSOLE PANEL STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, COULD NOT LOAD RADIO STATIONS, BLUE TOOTH, MAINTENANCE SCREEN - JUST ERROR MESSAGE. NEXT MORNING IT WAS WORKING BUT SEAT HEATER STILL NOT WARM SO BACK TO GARAGE. AT GARAGE ELECTRICAL TESTED OK. GARAGE STATES SEATS AS WARM AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE. BOUGHT 2 MAZDAS AT SAME TIME AND OTHER CAR CX-3 HEATER IS VERY WARM. AND HEATS QUICKLY. NOW WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE ELECTRICAL TO GO AGAIN THEN TAKE IT BACK IN. GOT IN CAR AND FOUND CAP TO THE SHIFTING LEVER WAS SITTING ON SEAT WITH OBVIOUS PRY MARKS , GARAGE SAYS IT WASN'T TAKEN OFF. THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ENTIRE SHIFT LEVER TO REPLACE IT.
HAD FULLY LOADED CX5 TOURING 4 MONTHS. SUDDENLY TODAY, WHEN I PRESS ON ACCELERATOR, CAR WOULD JERK AS IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FORWARD. AFTER I MADE IT TO WORK, LEFT WORK EARLY TO GO TO DEALERSHIP. CAR WOULD START AND GO INTO REVERSE, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD IN DRIVE. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY ARE TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I AM REALLY NERVOUS THAT THEY FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME. I HAVE A 90 MILE COMMUTE (ROUND TRIP) ON A FAST MOVING TOLL ROAD, AND CANNOT TAKE THE CHANCE OF BREAKING DOWN WHEN I AM IN ROUTE.

THE SAME STORY HAPPENED ON MY 2016 CX-5. I PURCHASED MY CAR ON JULY 8TH 2015. I ONLY HAD 2000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WHEN AT A STOP LIGHT AND I STEP ON THE GAS TO GO, THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AND JUST REVS VERY LOUDLY. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE CAR ACCELERATES AND THE CAR JERKS PRETTY VIOLENTLY. THIS WAS VERY CONSISTENT ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. WHEN I WAS DRIVING UP AN INCLINE, THE CAR'S TIMING SEEMED TO BE OFF AS IT NEEDED TO DOWNSHIFT BUT COULDN'T WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE. I MADE IT HOME AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN IRVINE, CA. THE DEALERSHIP JUST TOLD ME THAT THE CAR NEEDS A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY DO NOT WHAT IS THE REASON. AND THEY COULD NOT TELL IS THE REPAIR TOTALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY JUST DID WHATEVER MAZDA TOLD THEM TO DO. AFTER THREE WEEKS, FINALLY I GOT MY CX-5 REPAID. IT WAS A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE WITH MAZDA ANYMORE. THERE ARE MORE AND MORE SAME CASES ABOUT CX-5 POWER TRAIN.FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS ARE STRONGLY NEEDED.
I HAVE A FULLY LOADED CX5 GRAND TOURING 2016 ---WHICH AFTER DRIVING 500 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WHEN PUTTING THE GEAR IN DRIVE, THE CAR DID NOT MOVE--AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. AFTER A BIT, IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD INTO DRIVE--WHICH WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY SIMILAR TO OTHER REPORTS ON THIS SITE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I BECAME STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM MY DRIVEWAY SINCE IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS ORDERED FROM MAZDA AND INSTALLED. I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WEEK, APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER 200 MILES, I EXPERIENCED A "CREAKING" NOISE WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL FROM A PARKED OR STOPPED POSITION. NOW I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE CONTROL ARM HAS FAILED AND HAS BEEN ORDERED FROM MAZDA. HOW COULD ALL OF THIS BE FAILING ON A BRAND NEW CAR? IT IS VERY UPSETTING AND PREPLEXING. PLEASE INVESTIAGE WHAT IS GOING ON HERE--

I UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR GOOD HEAD RESTRAINTS, BUT AT THE COST OF PROPER POSTURE? I SEE THE TEST DUMMY BIORID HAS HORRIBLE POSTURE WITH IT'S HEAD FAR FORWARD OF IT'S SHOULDERS. THIS HAS LONG TERM BAD EFFECTS FOR YOUR SPINE TO SIT LIKE THIS.
FIRST EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM TWO DAYS AGO, SHIFT THE GEAR FROM PARKED POSITION TO REVERSE BUT THE GEAR FAILED TO ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY; THEN SHIFT THE GEAR TO DRIVE AGAIN GEAR FAILED TO ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY FOR 3 OR 4 SECONDS THEN SUDDEN JERK WHEN GEAR ENGAGED VEHICLE STARTS TO MOVE FORWARD (LUCKILY DID NOT STEP HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR AND REV THE RPM). SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY SPEED WITH EITHER ACCELERATION/DECELERATION WHERE RPM REV FROM APPROX. 2500RPM SURGE TO 4500/5000RPM THEN EXPERIENCED STRONG JERK. ALSO, WHEN VEHICLE STOPPED AT SIGNAL (LONGER STOP) GEAR IN DRIVE POSITION SEEMS TO DISENGAGE AND SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. VEHICLE LEFT AT MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND CHECKED BY MAZDA SERVICE MECHANIC AWAITING FOR THEIR INVESTIGATION.
I AM SO UPSET WITH MAZDA RIGHT NOW. I HAVE A FULLY LOADED CX-5 GRAND TOURING WITH EVERYTHING THAT COULD BE ADDED. HOWEVER, MY NAVIGATION HAD BEEN RECALLED WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK AND 2 WEEKS LATER I HAD A HUGE CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD. THIS CRACK IS THE WEIRDEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. MY DEALER SAID IT HAD TO BE A ROCK, BUT I PARKED MY CAR AND AFTER SCHOOL I CAME OUT TO THIS REALLY LONG CRACK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND MANY OF US ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE WINDSHIELD IS ON BACK ORDER AND IS SUPER EXPENSIVE. THIS IS CRAZY AND MAZDA SHOULD PAY AT LEAST HALF OF THE PRICE. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH A CAR. I HAVE HAD 5 MAZDA'S AND THIS ONE IS A LEMON.
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO REVERSE. IT WOULD BE IN DRIVE BUT WOULD REVERSE. THEN IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV AND IT WOULD GO FORWARD. IT HAD A DELAYED REACTION WHEN CHANGING THE GEARS AND ENGINE WOULD REV UP WHEN IT FINALLY WOULD CHANGE. I TOOK IT TO MAZDA DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT HAS 1000 MILES AND IS ABOUT 6 WEEKS OLD.
AUTOMOBILE WAS ALMOST BRAND NEW, DIDN'T EVEN HAVE LICENSE PLATES ON IT YET, WHEN I PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. THE VEHICLE BACKED OUT BUT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD IN DRIVE. IT FINALLY LURCHED INTO DRIVE AFTER GIVING IT MORE GAS AND REVVING THE ENGINE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AGAIN SAME ISSUE. WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN DRIVE, EVEN IN MANUAL SHIFT MODE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED. MAZDA STATED THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. I AM REPORTING IN CASE THEIR ARE OTHERS HAVING THIS ISSUE. VERY THANKFUL IT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT WHEN I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC.

I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT FROM BEHIND. EVENTUALLY, THE DRIVE KICKED IN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS NO KNOWN RECALL ISSUE AS OF YET. MAZDA REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AS PER THE WARRANTY.
ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM CAN NEVER BE TURNED OFF AND REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. THE DEVICES LIKE THE CD PLAYER IF A CD IS INSERTED ALWAYS IS IN OPERATION AND MAY CAUSE UNNECESSARY WARE OF THE DEVICE AND RESULTS IN UNSAFE DISTRACTIONS WHICH THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. MAZDA ONLY HAS OFFERED ONE SOLUTION, TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN OR PLACE THE SYSTEM IN MUTE; HOWEVER, THIS IS RESET WHEN A VEHICLE RESTART IS DONE AND THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM IS AGAIN INITIATED. TURNING THE VOLUME OFF OR MUTING OF THE SYSTEM IS DISTRACTIVE TO THE DRIVER WHICH CAN BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE SYSTEM IS ALWAYS ON. POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH NON-REQUIRED SYSTEMS THAT ARE ALWAYS IN OPERATION WHICH CAN NEVER BE TURNED OFF BY THE OPERATOR IS A CONSIDER A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL STATUS SINCE THERE IS NO SOLUTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
STOPPED ON HIGHWAY AT RED LIGHT. WENT TO PULL OUT ON GREEN, CAR HESITATED THEN IT FELT LIKE I WAS BEING HIT FROM BEHIND THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED WITH A BIG THUD BEFORE I COULD GET MOVING. FURTHER ON DOWN THE ROAD IT WOULD WITHOUT WARNING, DOWNSHIFT THEN UPSHIFT, GOING SOMETIMES FROM 6TH GEAR TO 3RD AND THROWING ME FORWARD. EVERYTIME I WOULD STOP AND TRY TO START THERE WAS HESITATION FROM THE TRANSMISSION THEN IT WOULD SLAM INTO GEAR. WHEN I WAS STOPPED ON A SLIGHT UPGRADE, THE CAR WOULD DRIFT BACKWARD A GOOD BIT, THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT WAS TO GIVE IT MORE GAS AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD AGAIN SLAM INTO GEAR. DURING ALL THIS NO ENGINE OR WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND CAME ON. THE MODEL I WAS DRIVING WAS LESS THAN 30 DAYS OLD WITH ONLY 3300 MILES ON IT. I AM CONCERNED, BECAUSE I TRADED IN A 2014 MAZDA CX 5 ( SAME MODEL) AND IT ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. MAZDA IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS 2016 UNIT.
CAR WAS PARKED WHILE AT WORK, CAME OUT TO FIND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. NO ROCK CHIPS ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CONTACTED A MAZDA REP WHO AGREED IT WAS A DEFECT. I WAS RELIEVED TO HEAR THAT, BUT VERY DISSATISFIED THAT THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IS ON BACK ORDER FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED BADLY ENOUGH THAT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE LETTING MY PREGNANT WIFE DRIVE IT. WE BOUGHT THIS LARGER VEHICLE TO FIT A BABY CARRIER, NOW THE BABY WILL BE HERE BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD. THIS PUTS US IN A TIGHT SPOT, WE HAVE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WE CAN NOT DRIVE. I UNDERSTAND THE DEALERSHIPS NOT AT FAULT AND THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY, AND HELPFUL. I AM GLAD THEY AGREED TO REPLACE IT, BUT STILL OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 3 MONTHS WITHOUT A RENTAL IS CRAZY.
AFTER ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP, A CRACK DEVELOPED IN THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE TOP, CENTER. THE CRACK EXTENDED DOWN TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD CREATING A LARGE OBLONG OVAL. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF BEING HIT BY ROAD DEBRIS. THE MAZDA SERVICE CENTER CONFIRMED THIS AND DECLARED IT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IT HAS BEEN OVER 5 WEEKS AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD TO ARRIVE. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE RAMPANT ENOUGH THAT NEW WINDSHIELDS ARE BACK ORDERED WITH NO INDICATION OF WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE.
THE CAR WAS PARKED OVER THE WEEKEND IN A VERY SECLUDED COUNTY LOCATION (NO OTHER PEOPLE AROUND). I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TWO DAYS LATER WHEN I NEXT USED THE CAR. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE CHIPS ON THE GLASS. THE CRACK SPREAD OUTWARD FROM WHERE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS ATTACHED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FACTORY INSTALLATION OR DEFECTIVE PART ISSUE.

NO WARNING LIGHTS OTHERWISE APPEARED. AFTER PUTTING GAS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED TO EXPLAIN THE IGNITION FAILURE. THE CONSUMER SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS A BLOWN "ROOM FUSE". HE WAS INFORMED A SENSOR IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM WAS TIED TO THE "ROOM FUSE" WHICH WAS THE REASON THE KEY FOB WAS NOT BEING DETECTED, DESPITE THE GREEN LIGHT INDICATIONS. THE DEALER STATED TOO MANY DEVICES WERE CONNECTED TO THE POWER OUTLET AT THE SAME TIME AS THE BLUETOOTH AND NAVIGATION WERE BEING USED.*JB
THE WINDSHIELD EASILY CHIPS AND CRACKS. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND MAZDA SEEMS TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WE NOTICED A CRACK THAT BEGAN AT THE BOTTOM CENTER OF OUR NEW CX-5'S WINDSHIELD. THERE HAD BEEN NO IMPACT BY A ROCK OR ANYTHING ELSE. IT BEGAN AT THE VERY EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND WENT UPWARDS. WE WERE ON A WEEKEND TRIP, AND THERE WAS NO NEARBY MAZDA DEALER. OVER THE MILES THE STRAIGHT CRACK GREW INTO QUESTION MARK SHAPE ABOUT 10" HIGH. ARRIVING AT OUR DESTINATION, THE DEALER CLAIMED THERE WAS A TINY IMPACT MARK EXACTLY UNDERNEATH THE WIPER BLADE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING EXCEPT THE CRACK, AND I KNOW THERE WAS NO IMPACT OF ANY TYPE. THIS WAS A FRIDAY, AND THE DEALER SAID THE GLASS COULDN'T BE THERE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEK -- BY WHICH TIME WE WOULD HAVE RETURNED HOME -- SO WE DROVE HOME A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER AND SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO SOLD US THE CAR [NOTE THAT IT WAS ABOUT 3 WEEKS OLD -- PRACTICALLY NEW]. OUR DEALER [NORTH POINT MAZDA, IN SHERWOOD AR] ALSO CLAIMS THERE IS AN INVISIBLE IMPACT MARK. OF COURSE, WITH AN IMPACT, THEY AVOID ALL RESPONSIBILITY. LOOKING AT THIS DATABASE, THERE SEEM TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS MINE -- NEW CX-5 OWNERS DEVELOPING A MYSTERY CRACKED WINDSHIELD. THIS IS EXPENSIVE GLASS -- IT HAS SENSORS FOR THE WIPERS, ETC. AND NOW THE GLASS IS ON BACKORDER, SO WILL TAKE A MONTH TO ARRIVE! OVER THE MILES THE CRACK HAS GROWN IN SIZE, AND HAS ALSO BRANCHED OUT. I WONDER WHEN MY NEW VEHICLE ACTUALLY BECOMES UNSAFE TO DRIVE? MAZDA SAYS IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM, AND THEIR SERVICE MANAGER AND GENERAL MANAGER HAVE BOTH DECLINED TO EVEN RETURN MY CALL. CLEARLY THEY AREN'T PROPONENTS OF SERVICE AFTER THE SALE! HOPEFULLY THE REST OF THE CAR HOLDS UP BETTER -- WE REALLY LIKE IT EXCEPT FOR THE GIANT, MULTI-BRANCH WINDSHIELD CRACK THAT WE NOW HAVE TO LIVE WITH FOR ANOTHER MONTH! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
GLASS CRACKED FROM TOP, MIDDLE PORTION OF WINDSHIELD GLASS, NO APPARENT SIGN OF ROCK CHIP. SPREAD IMMEDIATELY INTO VIEWING AREA. CONCERN FOR OVERALL SAFETY AND INTEGRITY OF GLASS. ADVISED BY DEALER TO CONTACT INSURANCE, ADVISED BY INSURANCE IT'S A $500 DEDUCTIBLE. ONLINE RESEARCH HAS LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AS IT HAS HIGH NUMBERS OF COMPLAINTS.
HEADLIGHT CLEAR LENS IS MELTING FROM INSIDE. CLEAR LENS THAT COVERS HEADLIGHT HAS COATING INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. IT IS THE INSIDE COATING THAT IS FLOWING DOWN. LOOKS LIKE IT WAS OVER-APPLIED DURING MANUFACTURING PROCESS. BUT IN TIME, IT'S APPEARANCE IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE VISIBLE. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT. MAKING THE CAR LOOKING LIKE 10 YEAR OLD. APPEARANCE ISSUE WAS PRESENT IN PARKING LOT OF DEALER. DEALER KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND ASSURED ME TO REPLACE IT. BUT AVOIDING MY CALLS FOR SIX MONTHS. MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLS ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO SERVICE CENTER. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO SERVICE, AND MAZDA TECHNICIAN GUY TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND PICTURED. NO ONE IS ANSWERING MY CALLS NOR GIVING ME ANY UPDATE ON HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT.
BRAND NEW MAZDA CX5 2DAYS AFTER FIRST USE VEHICLE STARTED BUCKING BADLY. FIRST REPORTED TO DEALER AND COMMENT WAS "IT IS THE DRIVER" NEXT DAY ON PARKWAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS THE VEHICLE SLIPPED INTO WHAT APPEARED TO BE NEUTRAL NEARLY RESULTING IN LANE CHANGE ACCIDENT,. CAR CONTINUED TO BUCK SLIPPING GEARS IN ROUTINE DRIVING . ON WAY TO RETURN CAR TO DEALERSHIP CAR STARTED TO MOVE AT RED LIGHT AND THEN STOPPED RESULTING IN MINOR REAR END COLLISION.
The vehicle's air conditioner expansion valve is defective/malfunctioning. While driving the vehicle with the air conditioning operating a loud whooting noise fills the interior of the vehicle. The noise sounds like the siren/hooting sound the police make when they want you to pull over or get out of their way. But the sound is loud and comes from inside the car jarring the driver and passengers. I purchased the car in early 2017 new. I first noticed the AC issue in the summer of 2018. I brought it up to Herzog-meir mazda (where i bought the car) when scheduling an oil change. they said they could not replicate it and so there was nothing they could do. I brought it to them at least 4 times with the same issue. Each time they sent me on my way and said they couldn't replicate it. I brought it up to Foothills Mazda in Spokane in 2023 and again they said that they couldn't replicate it and sent me on my way. This past august i had to schedule the car for an update covered by a class action lawsuit and had them look at the noise issue again. Prior to scheduling I has research online if others have had the issue and low and behold lots of mazda owners have. It is a known issue that mazda has created a "helpline" to deal with it. So I brought it up while scheduling it and asked to make sure they researched the AC expansion valve prior to my appointment (more than a month out). The Mazda lady that scheduled my appointment heard the noise several times with I was idiling the car and finishing scheduling the appointment. The first available appointment wasn't until Oct 1st so of course it wasn't hot enough outside to replicate the situation that causes the noise.
