DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 63 MPH, HEAT WAS ON IN VEHICLE, ALL WINDOWS CLOSED. VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC. HUGE EXPLOSION IN CABIN, GLASS FLYING ALL OVER. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY, FOUND THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WITH THE SUNSHADE PARTITION OPEN. THE GLASS WAS PROTRUDING UPWARD. NO INDICATIONS OF A ROCK OR OTHER ITEM STRIKING THE WINDOW. WE HAD GLASS SHARDS IN OUR SCALP THAT WE PICKED OUT AFTER REPEATED WASHINGS. OUR HANDS WERE CUT TRYING TO CLEAR OUT THE REMAINING BROKEN GLASS. NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF. THE SUNROOF HADN'T BEEN USED THE DAY OF THE EXPLOSION.
I PURCHASED A 2016 NEW MAZDA CX-5 IN OCTOBER 2016. MY CAR WAS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD WITH 5411 MILEAGE ON IT WHEN I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I WAS PULLING UP MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I GOT IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE DOORS OF MY HOME, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE ABOUT READY TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK , THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV UP TO A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND ACCELERATED INTO MY HOUSE. THE HOUSE STOPPED THE CAR FROM GOING ANY FURTHER. MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND EXPERIENCED THIS AS WELL. I WAS PRESSING DOWN ON THE BRAKE, BUT NOTHING STOPPED IT. I WAS CLOSE DISTANCE TO THE HOUSE AND IT HAPPENED SO FAST. I BACKED OFF MY HOUSE. I HAD TO GET MY GARAGE DOORS REPLACED AND THE CAR FIXED. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. ONCE THE BODY SHOP FIXED THE CAR (DAMAGE $2300.00 DOLLARS), I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. THEY DROVE IT FOR A FEW WEEKS WITH A BLACK BOX, BUT NEVER DETERMINED THE PROBLEM OR IT HAPPENING AGAIN. MAZDA CORPORATION WAS INVOLVED WITH THIS INVESTIGATION. I HAD FILED THE PROBLEM WITH THEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ACCIDENT HAD OCCURRED. I REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP (MAZDA IN MANCHESTER, NH) WORKED A DEAL WITH ME TO BUY THE CAR BACK AND GET ME INTO A NEW 2016 MAZDA CX-5. I HOPE I DON'T EXPERIENCE THIS WITH MY NEW CX-5. I REALLY LIKE THE CAR, BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT WAS AN EXPERIENCE THAT NO ONE WOULD EVER WANT TO EXPERIENCE. I AM JUST GRATEFUL THAT I WASN'T ON A STREET AND IT HAPPENED TO MY OWN PROPERTY. IT COST QUITE A BIT IN DEDUCTIBLES ON HOUSE AND CAR AND I AM SURE MY RATES WILL GO UP ON INSURANCE ON BOTH. UNFORTUNATELY MAZDA COULD NOT PROVE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, SO MY INSURANCE COMPANY COULD NOT GO AFTER THEM FOR THE DAMAGES. AS I SAID BEFORE I AM GRATEFUL MY HUSBAND AND I ARE OK AND NO ONE GOT HURT. ALSO, I FOUND 4-6 OTHERS REPORTING THIS SAME COMPLAINT ON THE CX-5.
2016 CX5 DEVELOPED SPONTANEOUS STRESS FRACTURE IN WINDSHIELD RUNNING FROM TOP RIGHT EDGE OF SCREEN ACROSS TO MIDDLE OF GLASS. IT WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN AT THE TIME, NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD, IT JUST CRACKED.
THE LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT ON THE VEHICLE IS FLICKERING AND SOMETIMES GOES OUT. THIS HEADLIGHT IS KNOWN TO HAVE ISSUES AND BASED ON THE PART NUMBERS FROM MAZDA, IT HAS BEEN REDESIGNED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. WITH THIS MANY REDESIGN ATTEMPTS I AM JUST ASSUMING THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHT AND SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. THIS VEHICLE IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AS IT HAS 37,500 MILES AND THE WARRANTY IS ONLY TO 36,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS US TO PAY FOR THE HEADLIGHT WHICH IS $1,500 DOLLARS IN PARTS ALONE. THIS SEEMS OUTRAGEOUS FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. SEARCHING ONLINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH MAZDA AND HAVING A HEADLIGHT GO OUT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN LET ALONE A QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP CONCERN. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL.
MY COMPLAINT IS IDENTICAL TO COMPLAINT # 10913740. I SPECIAL ORDERED MY CX-5 & PICKED IT UP FEB 2017.DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY, REVS UP TO 6000 BEFORE ENGAGING, CAN'T ACCELERATE WHEN I NEED TO (LIKE MERGING ON FREEWAY OR CHANGING LANES). PLEASE SEE COMPLAINT # 10913740 BECAUSE HE DESCRIBES IT BETTER THAN I, A NON "CAR PERSON" CAN. I'VE PUT MY MY GAS FOOT TO THE FLOOR TRYING TO GAIN SOME SPEED SO I WOULDN'T GET REAR ENDED AND IT TAKES, LITERALLY, ABOUT 10 SECONDS TO RESPOND AT ALL. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT IS SHIFTING AS DESIGNED & SAYS THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM. CAR WAS THERE @3600 MILES & THEY TOLD ME THE TECH COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT DID I WANT A DRIVE WITH HIM. I DID ONE, & HE TRIED TO TELL ME THAT REVVING TO 5000 WHEN ON A SMALL INCLINE WAS NORMAL. THIS IS A LIE. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK AGAIN- IT WAS IN FOR 7 DAYS. 2ND TIME MANUFACTURER INVOLVED, & SUPPOSEDLY ITS ENGINEERS WOULD WORK ON IT. BUT ALL THEY DID IS RUN DIAGNOSTICS (DOESN'T ANYBODY ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE ACTUAL CAR ANYMORE - COMPUTERS DO MALFUNCTION) AND WHAT THEY CAME UP WITH IS THAT I WAS ENGAGING THE GAS AND THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME, CAUSING THE CAR NOT TO SHIFT. FIRST OF ALL, MY TINY FOOT COULDN'T BE ON BOTH PEDALS IF I TRIED; SECOND, MY LEFT FOOT IS A CLUTCH FOOT. I AM SO USED TO USING IT ON A CLUTCH ONLY THAT IT DANGLES WHERE A CLUTCH WOULD BE IF I HADN'T BOUGHT THIS STUPID AUTOMATIC 2016 CX-5. SO NOW MAZDA IS SAYING THAT THEIR ENGINEERS & DEALER TECHNICIANS ARE INFALLIBLE AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME. MEANWHILE, I AM STUCK WITH THIS POS I BOUGHT FOR $27,000 CASH WHICH IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS BUT EXTREMELY UN-FUN TO DRIVE DUE TO THE JERKING, REVVING, ETC., WHICH ARE VERY UNNERVING, AND WITH 5000 MILES ON CAR, I SHOULD WANT TO DRIVE IT. INSTEAD I AM DRIVING MY NEARLY 12 YEAR OLD VW SO THAT I CAN GET PLACES SAFELY AND WITHOUT THE JARRING PROBLEM OF THE MAZDA.
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO MAZDA AT SANSONE RT 1 AUTOMALL AVENEL, NJ 732-587-1100 TO HAVE THE STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM ADDRESSED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS IS HAPPENING SINCE HAVING BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. THE REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL FOR THE SAME ISSUE LAST YEAR. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT ONE WAS INSTALLED, THE WHEEL IS PEELING AGAIN. THIS IS A LEASED VEHICLE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE FINED ON THE RETURN PART AT THE END OF THE AGREEMENT. I DO NOT WEAR RINGS, I AM NOT MARRIED, AND I DO NOT USE CHEAP SOAP/HAND CREAM BECAUSE THEY ASKED ME IF I DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS. IT IS PEELING IN THE SAME SPOT AND GETS WORSE OVER TIME FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF TURNING THE WHEEL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND IT HAS NOT GAINED ENOUGH ATTENTION YET OR OTHER CONSUMERS MAY NOT REALIZE THIS IS A PROBLEM. MAZDA CORPORATE WAS AT MY DEALER WHEN THIS WAS LOOKED AT ON THE 16TH AND GAVE ME THE RESPONSE NOTATED IN THE THIRD PICTURE ATTACHED. I DO LOVE MY MAZDA. I ENJOY THE VEHICLE. I JUST WANT A SOLUTION TO THIS STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM SO IT CAN BE NORMAL LIKE ALL THE OTHER PARTS OF MY CAR. I KEEP MY VEHICLE CLEAN AND WELL KEPT. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME WITH A LEATHER STEERING WHEEL, AND I ALSO HAVE A 2016 KIA FORTE WITH A LEATHER STEERING WHEEL THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE LIKE MY MAZDA DOES. PARKED MY CAR. OPEN UP DRIVERS DOOR , RADIO AND DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. STANDING ON DRIVEWAY NOW PUSH BUTTON TO TURN OFF RADIO AND DASH. EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON. DID IT THREE TIMES AND ON THE THIRD TIME VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. HAD TO CURLY ON THE FLOOR BARD AND DOOR WIDE OPEN. VEHICLE GAINING SPEED, ENGINE OFF, LOOK AT GEAR SHIFT SAYING IT'S IN PARK STILL. I HAD TO JUMP OUT OF VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. NEIGHBOR CAME TO HELP ME OUT AND CALLED 911 WHO SENT AN AMBULANCE AND POLICE. PARAMEDICS ATTENDED TO MY NEEDS AND RUSHED ME TO THE HOSPITAL. POLICE ASK THE NEIGHBORS IF SOMEONE WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID NO. POLICE REPORT SHOWS VEHICLE STILL IN PARK. VEHICLE HIT A TREE AND HIGH CENTER ON A PGE ELECTRICAL BOX. NOW VEHICLE IS AT A DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD MY FATHER UNDER THE TABLE THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE CONCERNS BUT WILL NOT NOTE IT ON THE REPAIR ORDER. THEY LOOKED AT SENSORS AND KNOW CODES APPEARED. ONCE MY FATHER MENTION HE WORKED AT A DEALERSHIP THEY MENTION THAT I MUST HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. IF I STAND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND FOR A GOOD MINUTE TO TWO MINUTES AND IT SHOWED IN PARK THE WHOLE TIME, THERE IS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL GOING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IF YOU GOOGLE RADIO IS STAYING ON WHEN VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF REGARDING THESE MAKE AND MODEL THERE ARE SEVERAL CASES OF THIS HAPPENING. PEOPLE SAY THEY HAVE TO SLAM THE VEHICLE INTO PARK TO GET THE RADIO TO WORK. SOME PEOPLE HAD A BRAKE SENSOR REPLACE WHICH FINALLY FIXED THE CONCERN....UPDATED 03/29/17 *BF *CN
DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS, THE CHROME AROUND THE VENTS REFLECTS ONTO THE SIDE WINDOWS. THIS CAUSES A DISTRACTION, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO LOOK INTO THE SIDE MIRRORS. I CONTACTED MAZDA ABOUT THIS, THEY DO NOT APPEAR TO PLAN TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. NOTHING YET HAS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT THIS, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN TO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. AN EASY FIX WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE SHINY CHROME TRIM WITH A DARKER TRIM. I ATTACHED SOME PICTURES TO SHOW THIS. THE PICTURES DO NOT SHOW EXACTLY HOW BAD IT IS, BUT IT WILL SHOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM.

THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE GPS INSTALLED IN THIS AUTO FREQUENTLY DOESN'T WORK. OFTEN WHEN IT BOOTS UP, BUT ALSO OFTEN IT LOSES LOCATION WHILE DRIVING. YOU CAN DETECT THIS IF IT PUTS YOU INTO AN ABSURD PLACE, LIKE THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN. BUT OFTEN IT PUTS YOU ON A ROAD WHERE YOU AREN'T. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM. DEALER CANNOT FIX. *TR
MAZDA HAS A TSB 04-005/15 THAT NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE 2016 MODEL YEAR; CURRENTLY IT ONLY COVERS MODEL YEARS 2013-2014, BUILD BEFORE OCT 9, 2013. MY 2016 CX5 (WITH LESS THAN 30,000MI.) HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS DESCRIBED BY MAZDA'S TSB (EXCESSIVE OUTER BRAKE PAD WEAR WITH LITTLE INNER PAD WEAR). MADZA SERVICE MANAGERS ARE NOT HONORING THIS TSB IF THE VIN IS AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE. SORRY I DON'T HAVE ANY PHOTOS AT THIS TIME TO DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ATTACHED MAZDA'S TSB 04-005/15 WHICH DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM AND THEIR PROPOSED SOLUTION, AND HOW THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE VEHICLE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR HAVING THIS ISSUE REPAIRED. *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN DECEMBER 2016. I HIT THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VECHILE AND MY PASSENGER FRONT BY THE TIRE WAS DAMAGED.THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG CAME OUT WHICH IT SHOULD NOT HAVE DUE TO THE MINIMAL DAMAGE TO OF THE CAR. I WILL ATTACH THE ESTIMATE TO THIS COMPLAINT. SINCE THIS WAS AROUND THE HOLIDAYS I KNEW MY CAR WOULD BE DELAYED. THIS WAS BY FAR THE WORST EXPIERENCE I HAVE DEALT WITH FOR A MONTH AND HALF AND TODAY I REALIZED MAZDA'S NEGLIGENCE PLAYED A HUGE ROLE WITH EXPENSE AND STRESS OF MY CAR. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE ABOUT A RECALL ON THE SIDE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I THINK MADZA SHOULD BE RESPONIBLE FOR PAYING THE DAMAGES OF MY AIRBAG COMING OUT AND ALSO THE LABOR, TIME AND RENTAL EXPENSES FOR THE DELAY OF MY CAR. I CAN NOT BELIEVE I'M FINDING OUT 4 MONTHS LATER THAT THEIR WAS A RECALL. IF I KNEW THIS I WOULD OF HAD MAZDA FIX MY CAR TO BEGIN WITH INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH SO MUCH STRESS. THE DELAY OF MY CAR BEING FIXED WAS DUE TO THE FACT THE AUTO SHOP COULD NOT FIX MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT AND HAD TO HAVE THE ADJUSTER COME BACK OUT TO LOOK AT IT. THEY ALSO NEEDED TO GET THE TECHNICIAN TO COME OUT TO HELP THE PROGRAM AND THEY JUST COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT. ONCE THEY FIGURED IT OUT MY AIR/HEAT WASN'T COMING ON, NONE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD WORK. THIS CAUSED ME TO GO BACK TO THE AUTO BODY SHOP FOR ANOTHER DAY WITHOUT MY CAR WITH A RENTAL. I BLAMED GEICO AND THE AUTO BODY SHOP BUT MAZDA IS RESPONIBLE. I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS PROCESS. I'M VERY DISSAPPOINTED.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ABRUPTLY TURNED OFF. SHORTLY THEREAFTER AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER ACTIVATING THE TURN SIGNAL THE CAR STALLED. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO HAVE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND COASTED TO A STOP. THE CAR THEN RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. *TR

Mazda has also issues two TSBs regarding the issue, I inquired while the vehicle was under warranty but they said the issue was not covered. TSB [XXX] and TSB [XXX]. ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE STAYS ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING BRAKES EXCESSIVE WEAR AND BRAKE FAILURE. FIVE 2016 CX5 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED IN SAME 5 MONTH PERIOD CAME TO DEALERSHIP WITH SAME PROBLEM. PROBLEM FIRST DETECTED BY SQUEAKING. PROBLEM GETS WORSE UNTIL DIFFICULT TO STOP WHEN BRAKING. GRUMBLING NOISE IN FRONT CAUSED BY BAD BEARINGS. PROVIDING DEALER RECORDS AND PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN ORDERED. CONCERNED THAT MAZDA HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WHICH MAY NOT MANIFEST ITSELF FOR A YEAR OR MORE AFTER PURCHASE. MAZDA IS STILL SELLING THE 2016 MODELS SINCE THE 2017'S HAVE BEEN DELAYED. MAZDA HAS HAD REAR BRAKE PROBLEMS IN ITS PREVIOUS MODELS OF CX5 BUT DOES NOT ADDRESS ISSUES ON THE 2016. CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE MAY BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED BY THIS BRAKING ISSUE. CAR HAS BEEN IN SERVICE SINCE NOVEMBER 17 2016 BECAUSE SUITABLE PARTS ARE STILL ON ORDER. THE 'START/STOP' BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, CAN BE DONE IN ANY GEAR. WHEN DONE IN "PARK" THE VEHICLE LOCKS UP THE WHEELS AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ROLL. WHEN STOPPED IN OTHER GREARS' THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. VEHICLE SHOULD BE CORRECTED SO THE TRANSMISSION WILL LOCK THE WHEELS UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF IN ANY TRANSMISSION POSITION.
ABOUT 10% OF THE TIME, THE "WALK AWAY" AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK FEATURE FAILS TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE REMAINS UNLOCKED. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE THAT THE SENSORS DON'T DETECT THAT THE DOOR(S) HAS BEEN CLOSED, AND THE SYSTEM FAILS TO ENGAGE AS NORMALLY INDICATED BY AN AUDIBLE BEEP UPON DOOR CLOSURE. THIS IS NOT DUE TO THE DOORS NOT BEING CLOSED FULLY. OPENING AND RECLOSING ANY DOOR (SOMETIMES TWICE) ACTIVATES THE SYSTEM. UNFORTUNATELY WE DON'T ALWAYS REALIZE THAT THE SYSTEM DIDN'T FUNCTION CORRECTLY AND RETURN TO AN UNLOCKED CAR. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM UPON INSPECTION.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT THIS VEHICLE ALLOWS YOU TO TURN IT OFF BEING STILL IN "D" (WITHOUT EVEN SHIFTING IT TO "P"). IT DOESN'T WARN YOU AT ALL IF YOU FORGET TO SHIFT TO "P". IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME THAT A COUPLE OF TIMES I HAVE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, GOT OFF OF IT AND VEHICLE REMAINS IN "D", WITHOUT GIVING YOU ANY BEEP OF WARNING. THE OTHER DAY, I STOPPED/PARKED MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING SLOT AND TURNED IT OFF AND I FORGOT TO SHIFTED TO "P". IT PASSED A COUPLE OF MINUTES, WHILE I WAS DOING MY MAKEUP AND HAIR THAT THE CAR STARTED MOVING. WHEN I REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, VEHICLE HAD ALREADY MOVED ABOUT 3 YARDS (ALMOST OUT OF THE PARKING SLOT) LUCKILY I WAS STILL INSIDE THE CAR AND COULD BRAKE. SHOULD I HAVE LEFT THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AFTER TURNING IT OFF, IT HAS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT HITTING PEOPLE/CARS BYPASSING.
THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES ON MY 2016 MAZDA CX5 TOURING OVER THE COURSE OF ALMOST A YEAR. THE LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 23, 2016. 1) WHILE IN REVERSE, MOVING TO DRIVE, THERE IS A LAG BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AND THEN LURCHES FORWARD. 2) FROM A STOP, THERE IS A LAG BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES, THE ENGINE REVS VERY LOUDLY AND THEN LURCHES FORWARD. 3) AT ANOTHER TIME, THE ENGINE REVS LOUDLY AND VERY HIGH WITH NO NOTICEABLE INCREASE IN SPEED AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT SEEMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. VERY DANGEROUS.
WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IT BROKE DOWN (IN MOTION) ON THE HIGHWAY, TOWED IT TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS WATER IN THE FUEL. AFTER A WEEK THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED, THIS TIME THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INOPERABLE AND IT CONTINUED TO SPUTTER, TOOK IT TO A SECOND DEALERSHIP WHO KEPT IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK WHO APPARENTLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE SEEMED OK AND EXACTLY ONE WEEK LATER AFTER PARKING IT (STATIONARY) AND WALKING AWAY IT BURST INTO FLAMES, THE FLAMES INCINERATED THREE ADJACENT VEHICLES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH NO IMMEDIATE TRAFFIC IN THE AREA. CRACK OCCURRED DURING MORNING TRANSITION FROM COOL TEMPERATURES TO ABOUT 20 DEGREE WARMER. HEARD A SMALL POP AND THEN SAW THE CRACK GROW UNTIL IT EXTENDED FROM THE FRAME TO ABOUT HALF WAY ACROSS THE PASSENGER SIDE. IF THE THE CRACK WAS CAUSED BY AN IMPACT THE ROCK OR DEBRIS WAS INCREDIBLY SMALL AS THERE IS ONLY A SLIGHT DEPRESSION IN ONE PART OF THE CRACK.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED . I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A BANG LIKE A GUNSHOT AND MY WINDOW WENT TO,PIECES.

MY 2016 CX-5 WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD STARTING AT THE BOTTOM UNDER THE SEAL AND GOING UP AND TO THE LEFT.THERE WAS NO CRACK WHEN I PARKED IT.I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND HAD THE WARRANTY MECHANIC AND A SALESMAN LOOK AT IT,THEY FOUND NOT SIGN OF IMPACT.THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE TO THE MAZDA DEALER FOR THE FACTORY WARRANTY.I TOOK IT TO THE MAZDA DEALER AND AFTER NUMEROUS GOUGES WITH A FINE POINT PEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CRACK THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS NO LOOK THERE IS A ROCK CHIP SO IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. SECOND TIME WINDSHIELD CRACKED (MORE THAN DOLLAR SIZE) AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS OF OWNING VEHICLE. ELECTRICAL: THE SEAT HEATER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT THE POWER BEING TURNED ON. TRANSMISSION: THE RMSS CONTINUE TO INCREASE WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AT HIGH SPEEDS (INTERSTATE). I DO NOT HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. THEY REV ABOUT 10,000 AND THEN COME BACK DOWN.
WHILE DRIVING THE WOULD NOT SHIFT. ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND FLAT TIRE LIGHT ALL CAME ON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 10. TRIED TO SHIFT MANUALLY AND NOTHING. GOT OVER AND STOPPED, RESTARTED CAR AND ONLY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON TRIED TO MOVE AND IT DID FOR A VERY SHORT DISTANCE AND AL THE LIGHT AND NOT SHIFTING AGAIN. STOPPED AND RE-STARTED AGAIN AND I COULD SHIFT MANUALLY. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR TWO HOURS AND THE AUTO TRANSMISSION DID WORK BUT DIDN'T RESPOND WELL. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR DRIVE IT LOSS POWER AND WOULDN'T SHIFT AGAIN. I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION ISN'T BEING ALLOWED TO SHIFT DUE TO A VALVE ISSUE. CURRENTLY WAITING FOR MAZDA TO MAKE A DECISION DEALER RE-SET COMPUTER AND ALL LIGHT ARE OFF, BUT CAR STILL DOESN'T RESPOND WELL WHEN DRIVING SO IT IS STILL AT DEALER SHIP AND THE CAR ISN'T A YEAR OLD WITH ONLY 18500 MILES.

WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO HOME, MY WINDSHIELD HAD A LARGE CRACK DOWN THE MIDDLE FROM THE TOP SPREADING OUT ON BOTH DRIVER & PASSENGER SIDES INTO THE VIEWING AREA LIKE A SPIDER WEB. IT STARTED RIGHT WHERE THE BLACK PLASTIC HOUSING IS FOR THE TECH PKG SENSORS BEHIND THE MIRROR. I STOPPED AT TECHNIGLASS ON MY WAY HOME & DAMON CHECKED IT OUT & SAID THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A ROCK CHIP, IT WAS A STRESS CRACK AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY & THAT HE HAS SEEN IT A LOT ON CX-5'S. ALSO TOLD ME THE WINDSHIELDS WERE ON BACK ORDER & THEY COST $1100. THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOOK IT TO DAHLE MAZDA IN SLC FOR 15,000 MILE SERVICE & SHOWED THEM THE CRACK & ASKED THEM TO REPLACE IT UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. THEY CAME BACK & TOLD ME THEY DID FINE POINT PEN TRICK & THERE WERE TWO ROCK CHIPS & IT IS NOT WARRANTABLE. I SHOWED THEM TECHNIGLASS NOTE SHOWING THERE WERE NO ROCK CHIPS & THEIR DIAGNOSIS OF A STRESS CRACK. ASKED FOR THE SERVICE MANAGER & SHARED THIS INFO & 30+ COMPLAINTS FROM ONLINE NHTSA & MAZDA247.COM WEBSITES CONFIRMING THE DEFECT WITH OTHER CX 5 OWNERS. MADE HIM DOCUMENT THEIR REFUSAL TO REPLACE ON MY SERVICE RECORD & TOLD HIM IT WAS UNACCEPTABLE & THAT I WAS GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH MAZDA USA & NHTSA. HE SAID HE WOULD ALSO CHECK WITH MAZDA USA TO SEE IF HE COULD DO ANYTHING & THAT HE WOULD CALL ME BACK'..HE NEVER DID. I ALSO LEARNED THAT TECHNIGLASS AND OTHER 3RD PARTY WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT COMPANIES CANNOT GET THESE REPLACEMENT WS FROM THEIR SUPPLIERS, THEY MUST ORDER THEM DIRECT FROM THE MAZDA DEALER, WHICH I FIND CONCERNING. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT & NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY MAZDA USA.
I CAME OUT TO MY 1 MONTH OLD MAZDA CX-5 THIS MORNING TO FIND THE CONTENTS OF MY GLOVE BOX AND CONSOLE STREWN ABOUT THE INTERIOR CABIN. CLEARLY THE CAR HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO, BUT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF FORCIBLE ENTRY. I RELY ON THE WALK-AWAY LOCK FUNCTION TO LOCK MY CAR WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE (AS DESCRIBED BY THE DEALER & OWNER'S MANUAL). LATER THE SAME MORNING I TESTED THE AUTOLOCK AFTER DRIVING THE CAR, AND THEN PUTTING IT IN PARK AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. I WALKED AWAY FROM THE CAR WITH THE KEYFOB IN MY HANDBAG AND HAD SOMEONE STAND NEXT TO THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND CHECK THE CAR DOOR HANDLE -- THE CAR DID NOT LOCK. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE MAZDA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE AUTOLOCK MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN DEFEATED IN THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SETTINGS. I CHECKED THE SETTINGS AS THEY DIRECTED AND ALL OF THE AUTOLOCK FEATURES WERE TOGGLED IN THE ON POSITION. THE SERVICE REP ALSO SUGGESTED THAT THE AUTOLOCK WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY IF YOU WALK AWAY FROM THE CAR TOO QUICKLY.

I PARKED MY 2 MONTH OLD CX-5 IN THE GARAGE, CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED, BY THE TIME I GOT TO WORK THE CRACK HAD SPREAD, WITHIN 3 DAYS IT WAS HALF WAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT GLASS REPLACEMENT COMPANIES AND 1 BODY SHOP AND ALL 3 PLACES SAID THE CRACK WAS BODY FRAME RELATED, I.E. NOT MY FAULT. I TOOK IT THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD BE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR IT WOULD COST $750 TO REPLACE. TO MAKE IT MORE OF AN INCONVIENCE THERE ARE ONLY 3 OR 4 PLACES YOU CAN GET HE FACTORY WINDSHIELDS FROM AND THEY ARE ON THE EAST COAST ON BACK ORDER (MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM THERE) FOR A MONTH.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR JUNE 2016 AND LAST WEEK I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. IT TOOK ME 3 TIMES OF PUTTING IT BACK IN PARK THEN IN DRIVE TO MOVE AT WHICH POINT I DROVE IT RIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY IT FAILED BUT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE IT. I GOT ONLINE AND SAW THAT MANY OTHER CX5 OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. HAVING THE POWER TRAIN FAIL AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, A RED LIGHT, OR AFTER BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY ONTO A STREET PUTS THE DRIVER IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
LESS THAN 1 YEAR VEHICLE. HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUE. WON'T SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR FROM A STOP, OR REVERSE. CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AT INTERSECTIONS OR STOP SIGNS. HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION.
WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN I HEARD A SUCCESSION OF LOUD POPPING NOISES COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA. AS I WAS ON A DIVIDED INTERSTATE WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OR BESIDE ME, IT WAS A BIT STRANGE THAT I HAD TWO CRACKS APPEAR IN THE CENTER OF MY WINDSHIELD AND ANOTHER ONE RUNNING FROM THE BOTTOM RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE WIPER BLADE. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYONE AROUND BECAUSE IT WAS CLEARLY NOT CAUSED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I PHONED THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TO REPORT THE INCIDENT, AS I WAS UNSURE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. A DEPUTY MET ME AT WORK (18 MILES FROM WHERE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED) TO LOOK AT THE DAMAGE, THE LATTER OF WHICH NOW STRETCHED ABOUT 4 INCHES PAST THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND TOLD ME THAT THE AREA WHERE I WAS DRIVING HAD BEEN CHECKED IMMEDIATELY BY OFFICERS, THAT THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE AREA, AND THAT NO OTHER COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN REPORTED. EVEN THE OFFICER WAS BAFFLED BY THE UNEXPLAINABLE OCCURRENCE OF THE BREAKS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES EITHER IN FRONT, BEHIND, OR BESIDE ME FOR AS FAR AS I COULD SEE (LONG, FLAT STRETCH OF INTERSTATE, SO VISIBILITY WAS EXCELLENT). THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 16000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
AT 609 MILES THE CAR STARTED TO BUCK WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE FROM BEING STOPPED. THE CAR THEN WOULD ALSO SHIFT ROUGHLY ON THE THE HIGHWAY WHEN YOU HIT THE 25 MPH MARK. THE CAR THEN ADVANCED TO BEING ONLY ABLE TO GO IN REVERSE OR FIRST GEAR ONLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION..YOU COULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN DRIVE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERS AWAITING A NEW TRANSMISSION.
WHEN REVERSING OUT OF DRIVEWAY, GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE CAR AGGRESSIVELY GOES FORWARD. A JERKING FORWARD MOTION THAT CAUSES THE TIRES MAKE A BRIEF SKID SOUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN DRIVE WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THERE WAS A 3-5 SECOND DELAY AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. WHEN THE VEHICLE DID ENGAGE IN DRIVE IT WOULD PULL FORWARD HARD AND CLUNK INTO GEAR.
AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING AND ENTERING PARKING SPACE MY WIFE ATTEMPTED TO STOP CAR, WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD JUMPING A PARKING BUMPER AT AN ACCELERATED RATE OF SPEED. AFTER JUMPING THE BUMPER OUR CX-5 HEADED TOWARD TWO PARKED CARS, SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT WHERE SHE WAS THEN HEADED TOWARD A CROSSWALK, BETWEEN TWO PARKING LOTS, WITH A HAND RAIL. THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP AFTER BECOMING WEDGED UNDER THE HAND RAIL AND BUMPING A PARKED CAR. DAMAGE WAS TO THE R FENDER, FRONT BUMPER AND HOOD A TOTAL OF $5,100 WORTH OF DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. MAZDA WOULD NO LOOK INTO WHAT OR WHY IT HAPPENED, OUR INSURANCE COMPANY SENT OUT A MEMBER OF THEIR FORENSIC GROUP TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. NOTHING WAS FOUND TO BE WRONG AT THE TIME THAT HE CHECKED AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE AS HE COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS OUR SECOND MAZDA AND OUR LAST, MOVING ON.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON A CLEAR DAY WITHOUT ANY INFLUENCE FROM AN OUTSIDE SOURCE, IE: ROCK/DEBRIS, A CRACK FORMED ON PASSENGER SIDE OF MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT ORIGINATED FROM THE VERY BOTTOM/BASE OF WINDSHIELD AND IS CURRENTLY ABOUT 20" LONG - ALMOST TO EXACT MIDDLE OF WINDOW. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT. IT IS A 2016.5 YEAR. I TOOK DELIVERY OF CAR ON FEB. 13.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH ALONG A MOUNTAIN ROAD I DRIVE ON TO COMMUTE TO WORK, SUDDENLY I HAD NO FORWARD POWER, IT WAS LIKE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL BUT IT WAS IN DRIVE. THE CITY BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON ALSO. I WAS LUCKY IN THAT I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN BUT STILL HAD NO FORWARD MOTION HOWEVER THE CAR WOULD OPERATE IN REVERSE. I DID SOME ON LINE RESEARCH WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK AND DISCOVERED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO. THE CAR ONLY HAD 17,000.00 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION BUT COULD NOT OFFER ME ANY EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT EXACTLY WENT WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID THEY SENT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION BACK TO MAZDA. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT MINE WAS NOT THE FIRST TRANSMISSION THEY HAD REPLACED. I AM LUCKY THAT THIS HAPPENED IN AN AREA WHERE I COULD SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD. AS I STATED THERE WAS NO ADVANCE WARNING OF THIS IT JUST HAPPENED. IN FACT I HAD JUST HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP THE WEEK BEFORE FOR THE 15,000.00 MILE SERVICE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND CERTAINLY DON'T FEEL CONFIDENT DRIVING AROUND IN MY CAR ANY LONGER ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT ASSURE ME THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED.
CAR BECAME STUCK IN A SINGLE GEAR AND WOULD NOT REV HIGHER THAN 2000 RPM AND WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. WOULD NOT ENGAGE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN WOULD LURCH FORWARD.
THERE IS A RUBBING/GRINDING/VIBRATION FEEL ON THE PEDALS AND STEERING WHEEL, INCLUDING THE ENTIRE BODY VIBRATION THAT CAN BE ALSO SEEN IN THE SIDE MIRRORS. THESE PROBLEM ARE MORE NOTICEABLE AT HIGH SPEED. I SUSPECT EITHER THE TIRE, BRAKE, ROTORS, ALIGNMENT, SUSPENSION OR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR 6 TIMES TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP ALREADY WITH THE GUIDANCE FROM MAZDA CORPORATE COSTUMER SERVICE BUT THEY ARE DENYING MY CX-5 ISSUES. THIS IS PRETTY SCARY TO DRIVE, I ALWAYS FEEL THAT SOMETHING BAD GONNA HAPPEN ON MY CAR IN THE FREEWAY BECAUSE OF ROUGH AND BUMPY RIDE. THIS HAPPENED SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THIS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CAR FOR 32K $. ALL MAZDA DEALERSHIP ARE NOT COOPERATING. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.
