DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BEGAN SHOWING SIGNS OF MALFUNCTIONING (DIMNESS & FLICKERING) AFTER APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. VEHICLE SHOWED NO WARNING OR MALFUNCTIONING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AS OTHER VEHICLES DO WHEN LIGHTS FAIL. THIS FAULT WOULD NEVER BE NOTICED BY AN AVERAGE DRIVER (MY COWORKER DRIVING IN FRONT OF ME CALLED ME TO NOTIFY ME). ALTHOUGH THE HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE CPO WARRANTY, THE COST TO REPLACE THIS HEADLIGHT IS $1,000. PROPERLY FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHTS ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE NUMEROUS REPORTED CASES AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FORCING OWNERS TO PAY THOUSANDS OUT OF POCKET FOR A KNOWN ISSUE (AS I WILL ONCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRES).
PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT. I NOTICED THAT THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED FULLY (ABOUT 25% ILLUMINATED) WHILE DRIVING BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. I EXAMINED THE LIGHT IN MY GARAGE LATER ON AND NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT WAS ALSO FLICKERING IN A RANDOM PATTERN. AFTER DISCOVERING THIS ISSUE, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS QUOTED $1097.02 PLUS TAXES. $887.02 FOR A NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND $210 IN LABOR. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET COVERAGE UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I WAS 10K OVER THE 36K LIMIT. WITH TAXES TOSSED IN, I'M LOOKING AT OVER $1200 FOR A HEADLIGHT, WHICH IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! ESPECIALLY FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND THAT I HAVE OWNED FOR LESS THAN A YEAR. A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE REVEALED NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. MAZDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS BEEN REPLACING THESE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES WITH A REVISED VERSION THAT ADDRESSES THE ISSUE. A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN INITIATED EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE ON FORUMS AND THE NHTSA WEBSITE.
MY 2016 MAZDA CX5 GRAND TOURING HAS LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND HAVE BECOME DIM ON DRIVER SIDE AFTER ONLY 36,620 MILES, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THEY ARE JUST OUTSIDE THE 3 YEAR/36K MILE WARRANTY AND THEREFORE NOT COVERED. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT WHOLE HEADLIGHT UNIT WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST $1000-1100 (ESTIMATE). LED DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS FAILED,. LOST LEFT DRIVER SIDE DRL HEADLIGHT. ALSO NOTICING THE SAME SITUATION ON OTHER VEHICLES (SHOWN GOO AND FAILURE IN PICS)
DRIVER SIDE LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS NO LONGER WORKING DUE TO A MAZDA KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE LIGHT VISIBILITY HAS BEEN REDUCED WHICH INCREASES DRIVING RISK. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED FREQUENTLY IN ONLINE FORUMS AND HAS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS LOGGED ON THIS SITE. MAZDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL THESE HEADLIGHTS AS IT IMPOSES A RISK TO ALL ASSOCIATED DRIVERS, AND COSTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE CONSUMER TO REPAIR AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURER ERROR.
PASSENGER RUNNING LIGHT -HALO- STARTED FLICKERING/ DIMMING AND NOW IS COMPLETELY BURNT OUT WITH 33000 MILES ON VEHICLE. SAFETY HAZARD AND REPEATED ISSUE KNOWN BY MAZDA SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY MAZDA. $1000+ TO REPLACE A LIGHT IS RIDICULOUS WHEN TYPICALLY LIGHTS CAN BE REPLACED VIA BULB REPLACEMENT, THIS LED IS A CLOSED ASSEMBLY AND REQUIRES DEALERSHIP REPLACEMENT. EVERY 2-3 YEARS OWNERS SHOULD PAY $3000 TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS? REALLY!? NOT OK. THIS IS A FAULTY PART/DESIGN FLAW THAT CREATES SAFETY HAZARD WHEN USING RUNNING LIGHTS THAT ARE NOT FULLY OPERATIONAL, ESP IN THE PACNW WITH RAIN/POOR VISIBILITY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A YIELD SIGN. DURING THE CRASH, THE YIELD SIGN CAME THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG DID NOT IMMEDIATELY DEPLOY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED MOMENTS AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A LEFT ARM LACERATION THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED AWAY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
I WAS INVOLVED IN THE CLASSIC TEE BONE SITUATION. I HIT THE CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE FRONT OF MY CAR WAS DAMAGED. I WAS ON A CITY STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE CAR LENGTH BEFORE THE COLLISION HAPPENED. THEIR AIR BAGS INFLATED MINE DID NOT.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS SUDDENLY FAILED AT JUST 27,500 MILES. IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE LEDS, THE ENTIRE LIGHT UNIT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OUT, AND CAN ONLY BE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF OVER $1200. THIS IS A VERY QUICK FAILURE OF A LONG LASTING LED LIGHT AND AT A HIGH COST TO THE OWNER. THIS SHOULD FALL UNDER A RECALL.
THE LED HALO LIGHT IN THE FRONT HEADLAMPS WENT COMPLETELY OUT ON ONE SIDE AND FLICKERS ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE REPAIR IS $1000 PER SIDE AND ISN'T COVERED BY WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MAZDA KNOWS IT . MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AROUND THE SAME TIME. THERE IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL. NO ONE CAN OR WILL PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A LIGHT BULB. THE PROBLEM IS PROLIFIC AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
WHILE ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING THE RPMS WILL JUMP NEARLY 1,000RPMS BEFORE DECREASING TO ITS NORMALLY EXPECTED LEVELS. THIS RESULTS IN JUMPS AND STUTTERS IN THE TRANSMISSION. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION TAKES SEVERAL SECONDS TO ENGAGE RESULTING IN A VEHICLE THAT LINGERS IN NEUTRAL. THIS MAKES THE VEHICLE FREE ROLL BACKWARDS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE POPPING INTO DRIVE WHICH RESULTS IN INCREASED PRESSURE IN THE DRIVETRAIN.
MAZDA VEHICLE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SAFETY FEATURE HAS FAILED WITHIN 30,000 MILES. DEALERS DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE FAILED ON NUMEROUS VEHICLES OF THIS MODEL.
PASSENGER SIDE DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS DIED.
MANY 2016 MAZDA CX-5S ARE EXPERIENCING FAILURES OF ONE OR BOTH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THESE ARE SEALED BEAM LIGHTS, SO IT COSTS ALMOST $1000 TO REPLACE AND ARE NOT COVERED BY ORIGINAL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. RUNNING LIGHTS ARE A SAFETY FEATURE - SHOULDN'T THIS BE A RECALL ITEM? MY PASSENGER SIDE WENT OUT AT JUST OVER 37,000 MILES - JUST AFTER THE 3-YEAR / 36,000 MILE WARRANTY, BUT I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NEITHER COVER THE PROBLEM.
MAZDA CX-5 GRAND TOURING LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE DIM ON DRIVER SIDE AFTER ONLY 48,000 MILES. OUTSIDE OF 36K MILE WARRANTY. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT MANY OF THESE LED HEADLIGHTS ARE DEFECTIVE AND NUMEROUS OWNERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AFTER 40K MILES.
DRIVER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AFTER 3.5 YEARS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE MAZDA CX-5 2016 MODEL YEAR. MAZDA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT IS NOT ISSUING A RECALL. THE COST TO REPAIR THE ISSUES IS OVER $1,000.00 JUST TO REPLACE THE WORN OUT LED'S.
PURCHASED WITH JUST 50K MILES. TOOK TO MAZDA FOR SERVICE LIGHT. NOTIFIED THE DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED REPLACEMENT CITING 2 TB (10155436 AND 10145248) CLEARLY IDENTIFYING THE ROOT CAUSE AS DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING. FURTHER INVESTIGATION PROVIDED CLEAR PROOF OF MAZDA'S ASSESSMENT WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL AND POINTING TO THE TB'S AS CASE FOR THE CLAIM APPROVAL. PICTURES SHOW YEAR'S LONG BUILDUP OF RUST, BROKEN COUPLERS, WATER CONTAMINATED OIL, METAL SHAVING. ALL REFLECTIVE OF THE DAMAGE CREATED BY THE DEFECTIVE DESIGN INDICATED IN THE TB. THE WARRANTY CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE OF THE RELATED ISSUES WITH THE DEFECTIVE SEAL ALLOWING DAMAGE TO THE DIFFERENTIAL AND RELATED PARTS. ALSO EFFECTIVELY VOIDED MY POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY COVERAGE. THIS PRESENTS A HAZARD OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT CERTAIN SPEEDS WITH BROKEN METAL PARTS IN THE TRANSFER GEARS. I THINK IT REQUIRES A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS INEVITABLE WATER, RAIN, SNOW, EVEN A CAR WASHES WILL GET INTO THE SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY DESIGN. FACTS: VEHICLE HAD PRIOR MAZDA SERVICE AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT MAZDA PRESENTED THE REPAIR OPTION PRIOR TO THE DASH LIGHT APPEARING. MAZDA HAS NO SERVICE OR WARRANTY CHECKS IN PLACE THAT DETECTS THE DAMAGE. THE TIME IT TAKES FOR THAT LEVEL OF RUST BUILD UP TO ACCRUE IS SELF-EVIDENT THIS IS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD REQUIRE A RECALL BUT ALSO A MATTER OF ETHICS AND INTEGRITY. WATER IN YOUR REAR AXLE WILL UNDOUBTEDLY CAUSE FAILURE TO SEALED MECHANICAL COMPONENTS. MAZDA WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS YET DOES NOT OFFER THE CONSUMER ANY ADDITIONAL COVERAGE OR ANY WAY TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM A HEFTY REPAIR COSTS OR RISK OF HARM DUE TO THIS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE ITSELF HOLDS EVIDENCE OF DRIVE-TRAIN AND ITS WARNING SYSTEM ARE BOTH DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THE HISTORIC ERROR CODES/MILEAGE IN ITS INTERNAL MEMORY. THE SYSTEM FAILED ALERTING THE ISSUES WELL AFTER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY EXPIRED.
27.500 MILES I NOTICED MY PASSENGER DAY RUNNING LIGHT WAS DIMMER THEN THE DRIVERS AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS IT PROGRESSES TO RAPID FLICKERING. ONLINE THERE ARE 100'S OF CONSISTENT REVIEWS OF THE EXACT PROBLEM HAPPENING TO THE ORIGINAL FACTORY HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY - K070-51-031C (LED HEADLIGHT RIGHT SIDE) - K070-51-041C (LED HEADLIGHT LEFT SIDE), BUT AFTER A 1500$ PER HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT WITH THE NEWER VERSION UNIT(R) HEAD LAMP RIGHT WITH LED KA0G-51-031J - UNIT(L) HEAD LAMP LEFT WITH LED KA0G-51-041J THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RESOLVED. ANOTHER THING TO NOTE IS WHEN I HAVE TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT THE NEW VERSION WILL BE LESS BRIGHT AND SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COLOR WHICH WOULD BE ALMOST AS ANNOYING DISTRACTING TO OTHER DRIVERS AS THE FLICKERING DAY RUNNING LIGHT WHICH IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE RECALLED TO AVOID ANY SAFETY HAZARDS REGARDING THESE SPECIFIC FAULTY BATCH OF LIGHTS. PLEASE GOOGLE SEARCH CX-5 FLICKERING HEADLAMP AND SEE THE 100'S IF NOT 1000'S OF REVIEWS CLAIMING THE SAME. I REALLY WAS HOPING PUTTING THE MONEY INTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A SOLID VEHICLE WITH LED LIGHTING ALL THE WAY AROUND WOULD HELP ME STAY MORE SAFE ALTHOUGH ALL IT HAS DONE IS PUT OTHERS, AND MYSELF AT RISK AS WELL AS COSTING A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY. AND WITH THE RELEASE OF A NEW VERSION OF THE SAME LIGHT ONLY REINFORCES THE CLAIMS OF THE FAULTY BATCH OF LIGHTS. WHICH SHOULD LAST 55,000 HOURS OR A LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. MAZDA CX-5, HIGHLIGHT ASSEMBLIES NEED FULL REPLACEMENT, TWO MONTHS OUT OF 3 YEAR WARRANTY. NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN.... ????? $3,000 TO REPLACE BOTH.
I BROUGHT 2016 PRE OWNED CERTIFIED RUN 28K ONLY. I DROVE THIS CAR ONLY 7 K BUT CAR ALWAYS HAS ISSUE WITH SUSPENSION. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE WITH MY DEALER BUT ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED.
THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT STOPPED WORKING AT 25,000 MILES AND COST OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. UPON FURTHER REVIEW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I AM WORRIED THIS WILL HAPPEN TO MY OTHER HEADLIGHT THEREFOR COSTING ME ANOTHER $1,000.
LED DRL HALO STARTED DIM FLICKERING AT 39,000 MILES ON PASSENGER SIDE. BURNT OUT COMPLETELY. A SHORT TIME LATER. A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED WITH A FACTORY RECALL. THIS IS MY SECOND CX-5 AND MY EIGHTH OVERALL MAZDA. MY PLAN WAS TO PURCHASE MY 3RD CX-5 IN JAN 2020. AFTER THIS I WILL PROBABLY LOOK AT AT A VEHICLE THAT HAS A 4 YR/50,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY
DURING THE COLD WEATHER, THE CAR STRUGGLED TO START. AFTER STARTING, THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHTS FLASHED ON BOTH THE PARKING BRAKE BUTTON AND IN THE DASH. THE CAR DROVE AS IF THE BRAKE WAS DISENGAGED BUT THE FLASHING LIGHTS CONTINUE (PARKING BRAKE LIGHT FLASHING). A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWED SEVERAL OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE AND A WEBSITE SHOWS THIS ISSUE ALSO HAS OCCURRED IN THE PAST WITH OTHER 2016 MODELS THAT HAVE HAD RECALLS (MAZDA6). SO FAR MAZDA DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.
WHEN I START THE CAR IN THE BEGINNING OF A COLD DAY, I SMELL GAS ALL AROUND THE CAR. I FOUND THAT THE CAR HAS AN INCOMPLETE RECALLS WHEN I ENTERED THE VIN NO., BUT I CALLED THE NO. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HASN'T ANY RECALLS.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS FLICKERING - DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT OVER $1000 PER SIDE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 1/2 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 46000 ON IT BUT OF COURSE OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE HAVE BEEN TOO MANY DEFECTIVE 2016 MAZDA CX-5'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE - HOW CAN THESE DEALERS SELL DEFECTIVE VEHICLES OR NOT BE MADE TO FIX THE CHEAP DEFECTIVE PARTS THEY USE. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE USED FOR SAFETY.....SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.

IMMEDIATE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 10-12 MPH EXPERIENCED. ERROR MESSAGES THEN OBSERVED ON CAR DASHBOARD WARNING SECTORS: CHECK ENGINE; TRACTION CONTROL: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING; SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT MALFUNCTION-FORWARD SCBS DISABLED. CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE TO DEALER 12 MILES AWAY. CAR TOWED TO DEALER SITE 2/11/19 MONDAY AM. CAR HAS 28,330 MILES PER ODOMETER; SERVICE MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE, AS MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED. DEALER ASSESSMENT OF CAUSE ON 2/11/19 REPORTED AS 'RATS NESTING IN ENGINE AND EATING THROUGH SOY INSULTATION ON WIRING ON ENGINE HARNESS.' REPAIR COSTS OF > $1,500 ESTIMATED. IT SEEMS THAT INSULATING ENGINE COMPONENT WITH NUTRIENTS ATTRACTIVE TO NESTING, UBIQUITOUS VERMIN IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR CAR OWNERS AND USERS. ANY NHTSA GUIDANCE ON THIS CRITICAL ISSUE?
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. DRIVERS SIDE LIGHT GOING OUT. PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING LIGHT IS OUT. I CALLED DEALERSHIP AND PRICE WAS GOING TO BE CLOSE TO $1200 EACH. DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS FAILING AFTER ONLY 50000 MILES
THIS WINTER, IT HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS OF APPROX. -4 TO 14 DEGREES F (-20 TO -10 DEGREES C), WHEN STARTING THE CAR, THE CAR EXHIBITED THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) LIGHT FLASHING, ALONG WITH THE RED FLASHING BRAKE ICON AND THE PARKING BRAKE ICON ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH. LARGE FISH HOOK SHAPED CRACK ON WINDSHIELD OF MY 2016 MAZDA CX-5 WITH 23000 MLES. THE CRACK APPEARED ON A 55 DEGREE MORNING AFTER I PULLED MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DROVE HALF A BLOCK TO A STOP SIGN AND I WATCHED THE CRACK APPEAR. THE CRACK STARTS AT THE TOP CENTER EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD GOES DOWN ABOUT 6 INCHES, THEN GOES INTO THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. IT WAS ABOUT 18 INCHES THAT MORNING AND HAS GROWN TO ABOUT 30 INCHES AND A HUGE FISH HOOK SHAPE IN THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS CAUSED BY A STONE IMPACT. IT WAS NOT AN IMPACT, I SHOULD KNOW, I WAS DRIVING. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN IF IT IS A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD OR INSTALLATION AT THE FACTORY. WITH A LITTLE RESEARCH I AM SEEING A LOT OF CX-5 OWNERS ARE REPORTING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE WINDSHIELDS CRACKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THE NHTSA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE.
THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO PROPERLY RELEASE CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO CALIPERS, ROTORS, AD PADS.

PASSENGER SIDE DAY TIME RUNNING LED LIGHT STOPPED WORKING JUST AFTER 3 YR WARRANTY EXPIRED. COST TO REPLACE OVER $1000. THERE IS A LOT OF REPORTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE 2016 MODEL.
I AND NUMEROUS CX 5 OWNERS ARE REPORTING DAYTIME LED RUNNING LIGHT FAILUE AT AROUND 35,000 MILES OR 3 YEARS. THIS PROBLEM IS DIFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO DETECT BECAUSE THE LIGHTS ONLY TURN ON WHEN THE VEHILE STARTS TO MOVE. THE PROBLEM CAN ONLY BE FIXED BY REPLACING THE WHOLE LED ASSEMBLY ($1,200) PER HEADLIGHT. THEREFORE, MANY OWNERS WILL SIMPLY DRIVE THERE CARS IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION BECAUSE THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM OR CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIR.
I WAS STOPPED BUT DID NOT HAVE THE CAR IN PARK WHEN VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AT HIGH SPEED. I WAS IN A DRIVEWAY AND HIT SOMEONE'S GARAGE.
THE DRIVER SIDE LED RUNNING LIGHT BURNED OUT AROUND 45,000 MILES. THE REPAIR INVOLVES AN ENTIRELY NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY; MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME $934 FOR THIS PART AND THE WORK REQUIRED. THE RUNNING LIGHT IS A SAFETY FEATURE OF ALL NEWER-MAKE CARS, AND IT'S UNACCEPTABLE THAT MAZDA IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART. I'VE SEEN DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME YEAR/MAKE OF CAR WITH DEFECTIVE RUNNING LIGHTS.
PASSENGER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT HAS BURNED OUT. NO WAY TO GET TO IT AS THE LIGHT IS SEALED. THE DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE AS THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. LED LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST TENS OF THOUSAND OF HOURS, THIS HAS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE ACTUAL ELECTRONICS. IN MY RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM, AND CX-5 OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS (IN SOME CASES THOUSANDS) OF DOLLARS TO FIX A FAULTY/ FLAWED LIGHT.
AT 31,234 MILES MY MECHANIC SAID THAT MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTARS AND TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN WE WAS REPLACING THEM, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND CALIPERS SEIZED UP AND HE HAD TO ORDER PARTS (WHICH TOOK A WHILE BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON MY MODEL OF CAR). HE SAID THAT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES LIKELY ALSO CAUSED WEAR AND TEAR ON MY REGULAR BREAKS AND CAUSED THEM TO NEED TO BE REPLACED EARLY.
TOOK CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. LESS THAN 10,000 MILES, CAR JUST 2 YEARS OLD. NEEDED MAJOR BRAKE JOB. TOTAL $600. THEY ARE TELLING ME BECAUSE I LIVE AT THE BEACH THE SALT CORRODED THE BRAKES AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WROTE TO MAZDA HEADQUARTERS. NO ONE WOULD HELP ME. MY CONCERN IS WILL THIS BE OCCURRING EVERY 2 YEARS AND ARE THE BRAKES SAFE????
DAYTIME RUNNING HEAD LIGHT IS GOING DIM. THE LEDS ARE FAILING AFTER ONLY A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS.
EXCESSIVE REAR BRAKE WEAR. REAR PADS WORN DOWN TO METAL BACKING PLATE AT 20,900 MILES WITH NO AUDIBLE BREAK WEAR INDICATOR. FRONT BRAKES 70% WORN AT SAME MILAGE.
DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHT EARLY FAILURE. ADVISED ONLY SOLUTION IS COMPLETE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ESTIMATED AT OVER $1000 COST. SAFETY ISSUE & I SEE ITS A COMMON PROBLEM. MAZDA AS THE MFG SHOULD CALL ON ITS SUPPLIER TO MAKE IT RIGHT AND ITS DRIVERS SAFER ON THE ROAD. I ALWAYS LIKE TO RUN THESE AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION AS THEY ARE INTENDED.
MY 2 YEAR OLD "TOP OF THE LINE" MAZDA CX-5 AWD GRAND TOURING HAD A FAILURE OF THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (PASSENGER SIDE). WHEN I ASKED MY MAZDA DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT THEY SAID "YEAH, WE'VE SEE LOTS OF THOSE PROBLEMS ON YOUR YEAR/MODEL, YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO GET IT FIXED SINCE YOU WILL FAIL YOUR SAFETY CHECK". I ASKED SINCE THIS WAS A "COMMON" SAFETY PROBLEM FOR MY MODEL/YEAR WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FROM MAZDA. MAZDA DEALERSHIP STAFF SHRUGGED AND HANDED ME AN ESTIMATE FOR $1500.00 TO FIX THIS SAFETY RELATED PROBLEM ON MY 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THEY SAID FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA, BUT MAZDA IS NOT PAYING FOR THIS.

HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS A SINGULAR ENTITY CONTAINING THE LOW AND HIGH BEAMS, AND THE DAYTIME RUNNING LED LIGHTS. THEY ARE NOT USER REPLACEABLE. THE DRL'S FAIL, REQUIRING A $1200 PART AND $300 REPLACEMENT COSTS FOR THE ENTIRE UNIT. GIVEN THESE COSTS, THE LED LIGHTS (WHICH SHOULD LAST 10 YEARS AND ARE FAILING PREMATURELY BETWEEN 12 AND 24 MONTHS) ARE LIKELY TO GO UNREPAIRED AND NEGATIVELY IMPACT SAFETY.
THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON BOTH HEAD LIGHTS. THE COST FOR FIXING THE HEAD LIGHTS IS $1300.00 A PIECE. THE DEALER WON'T WARRANTY THIS REPAIR AND SAID IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE. THE HEAD LIGHTS ARE THE ONES THAT SELF LEVEL AND TURN WHEN THE CAR TURNS.
I HAVE 35,000ISH MILES ON MY VEHICLE, AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT MY RIGHT LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT HAS ALREADY BURNT OUT, AND MY LEFT ONE IS FLICKERING, ABOUT TO BURN OUT. I HAVE READ ON MANY FORUMS THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY PERVASIVE PROBLEM, AND MAZDA WANTS UPWARDS OF $1,200 PER LIGHT TO REPLACE (CANNOT JUST CHANGE OUT LAMPS). THIS SEEMS WORTHY OF A RECALL WITH THE NUMBER OF REPORTS ON SIMLIAR 2016'S I'VE SEEN ALONE.
RUNNING LIGHT ON THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS EXTREMELY DIM AND SOMETIMES DOES NOT EVEN COME ON.
