THIS CAR MAZDA 3 I PURCHASED IN 2011 AS A 2010 LEFTOVER NEW, AND THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING CREATING EVERYTHING TO STICK TO IT, AND ALSO OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD ON SUNNY DAYS DUE TO THE NATURE OF HOW SHINY IT IS. IT LOOKS LIKE A WET DOWN DASH BUT THE REFLECTION IS CREATING VERY DIFFICULT VIEWING PROBLEMS ON SUNNY DAYS, DUE TO THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM IT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. I WOULD APPRECIATE THIS BEING LOOKED INTO. *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING (AND STICKY) AND IS CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD REDUCING MY VISIBILITY. I AM EXPERIENCING A LOT OF DIFFICULTY SEEING OUT OF MY WINDSHIELD SINCE IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF IT AT TIMES DUE TO THE GLARE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT APPEARED TO HAVE BAD WELDING ON THE SLIDER AND IT SNAPPED. MAZDA HAS DENIED FIXING THE FAULTY SEAT, CITING THE WARRANTY BEING EXPIRED. *TR
HAVE HAD A SITUATION OCCUR ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED NEW IN JULY 2010 WITH 93 MILES - NOW AT ~35500 MILES. WHEN COMING TO A STOP ON A COLD ENGINE THAT HAS ONLY BEEN RUNNING ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES, CLUTCH PUSHED IN TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR AND BRAKES APPLIED ENGINE WILL REV TO ~2500 RPM AND IT WILL STAY THERE FOR ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS. FIRST FEW TIMES IT HAPPENED I FIGURED I HIT THE GAS AS WELL AS THE BRAKE, AFTER THAT I BEGAN TO CHECK MY FOOT POSITION ON OCCURRENCE AND MY FOOT WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE ACCELERATOR. THIS HAS NOT CAUSED ANY PROBLEMS WITH A CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AS IT TYPICALLY OCCURS AS I AM PUSHING THE CLUTCH IN TO COME TO A STOP. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE ENGINE IS STILL COLD (GENERALLY THE FIRST STOP OF THE DAY) AND IS VERY RANDOM WHEN IT OCCURS. HAVE NOT BROUGHT TO ATTENTION OF DEALERSHIP AS THERE ARE NO COMMON FACTORS TO BE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. UPON NOTICE OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS ISSUE I WANTED TO ADD MY OWN EXPERIENCE. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN I HIT A SMALL POT HOLE AND SUDDENLY MY SEAT FLEW BACK. THE SEAT BROKE COMPLETELY FREE FROM THE MOUNTING BRACKETS AT THE TWO FROM MOUNTING POINTS. UPON INSPECTION THE WELDS ON THE MOUNTING BRACKET SNAPPED CLEAN OFF. DUE TO THE SUDDEN RECLINING MOTION MY NECK WAS EXTREMELY SORE FROM THE SUDDEN AND ABRUPT REARWARD RECLINING MOTION THIS CAUSED. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY TO A PERSON WHO IS SHORTER THEN MYSELF, LOSS OF THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS VERY POSSIBLE. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO REACH MY DESTINATION I NOTIFIED MAZDA WHO CLAIMS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. UPON FURTHER SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND MANY OTHER MAZDA 3 OWNERS ARE HAVING THE VERY SAME ISSUES. I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW IN JULY OF 2009 AND IT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE VEHICLE INVOLVED IS A 2010 MAZDA MAZDA3. I SAT IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT AND FELT THE DRIVERS SEAT SHIFT BACKWARDS. FROM THAT POINT ON THE SEAT WAS UNSTEADY AND ROCKED FORWARD AND BACKWARD DEPENDING ON WHICH I WAS DOING, ACCELERATING OR BREAKING. UPON EXAMINATION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE WELD ON THE SEAT BRACKET HAD BROKEN. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL BREAK AND COULD BE VERY HAZARDOUS IF IT HAPPENS UPON BRAKING. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED ON 03/15/13. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 MAZDA 3, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR CORRODING AND CAUSING THE TIRE TO LOSE AIR QUICKLY. THIS HAS HAPPEN TO ME TWICE WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. I TOOK THE OTHER TWO TIRE SENSORS OFF, WHICH THEY WERE ALSO CORRODED. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, I GOT LUCKY THAT I WASN'T TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS AT THE TIME MY PRESSURE IN MY TIRES WENT OUT. ALSO AT THE TIME I HAD TWO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5 IN THE CAR WHICH THANK GOODNESS NOTHING HAPPEN TO THEM! THIS COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOOSE CONTROL AND WRECK THEIR CAR AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA MAZDA3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND AFTER INSPECTING THE LEFT REAR TIRE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SLEEVE FOR THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS CORRODED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT BOTH OF THE REAR AND THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SLEEVES HAD DEVELOPED CRACKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THAT THE SENSORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND CORRODED THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. AS A RESULT, ALL FOUR SENSORS AND ONE OF THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY MAZDA3, CAME TO A STOP, UPON ACCELERATING MY SEAT BEGAN TO ROCK SLIGHTLY, ABOUT A WEEK OR SO LATER, CAME TO A STOP AND UPON ACCELERATING MY WHOLE SEAT ROCKED BACKWARDS, TO THE POINT I COULD NO LONGER REACH THE PEDALS. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE WELDS THAT ATTACH THE SEAT TO THE SEAT TRACK HAD BROKEN. THE SEAT IS NO LONGER STABLE AND SAFE TO DRIVE. SEVERAL CALLS INTO MAZDA, BUT GETTING NO WHERE BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. OBVIOUSLY THE WELDS CONNECTING THE SEAT TO THE SEAT TRACK, AND THE SUBSEQUENT BREAKING OF THOSE WELDS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAUSES HUGE SAFETY RISKS FOR ALL DRIVERS OF MAZDA3S. IT IS UNKNOWN WHERE/WHEN THE WELDS WILL BREAK. *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING CREATING A GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. IT STARTED JUST AS A SMALL AREA IT HAS NOW GROWN OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS GETTING STICKY RESIDUE EVERYWHERE MAKING IT HARD TO CLEAN. WHY SHOULD ANYONE HAVE TO PAY TO GET A NEW DASHBOARD OR EVEN HAVE TO GET A DASH PAD?! THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR FREE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA MAZDASPEED3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000. *TR
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE MAZDA 3 HEADED EAST ON I-94 IN BROOKFIELD, WI NEAR THE MOORLAND ROAD EXIT ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, FEBRUARY 9, 2013 THE CAR WAS MOVING AT ABOUT 65MPH. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY. THEN A FEW SECONDS AFTER THAT THE STEERING BECAME WOBBLY AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET CONTROL OF THE CAR, DECELERATE AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER. THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL WAS COMPLETELY SHREDDED. WITH THE HELP OF STATE TROOPER DAVID W. HANSON SHE GOT THE TIRE CHANGED. ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2013 I TOOK THE CAR TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC. WE FOUND THE TIRE VALVE AND TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR INSIDE THE SHREDDED TIRE. THE VALVE STEM HAD BLOWN INTO THE TIRE. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THAT. I HAD THE MECHANIC, ROB OF ERV'S SERVICE IN HARTLAND, WI EXAMINE THE OTHER TIRES AND VALVE STEMS ON THE REMAINING WHEELS OF THE CAR. HE FOUND ANOTHER VALVE STEM WITH A CRACKED HOUSING THAT WAS READY TO FAIL. I HAD THE MECHANIC REMOVE IT AND SECURE THE VALVE STEM. I RETAINED THE FAULTY PARTS. I BELIEVE THE VALVE STEM ASSEMBLY FAILED CAUSING THE SUDDEN LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE, THE SHREDDING OF THE TIRE SIDEWALL AND NEAR LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. INJURIES AND POSSIBLY LOSS OF LIFE. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, SO I CHECKED THE PRESSURE OF EACH TIRE. ONE WAS LOW, SO I ASKED MY MECHANIC TO FIX IT. HE FOUND THE LEAK WAS A CRACKED VALVE STEM ASSEMBLY, ALLOWING AIR TO ESCAPE ALONG THE VALVE STEM. FORTUNATELY IT DIDN'T DAMAGE THE NEW TIRE, BUT STILL COST $150 TO FIX AND I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THE MAZDA3. FOR ME, THE SAFETY ISSUE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN WHEN MY WIFE IS DRIVING THIS CAR ON A TRIP, SEES THE WARNING LIGHT COME ON, AND HAS TO FIND HELP TO FIX IT OR TO CHANGE THE TIRE FOR THE SPARE, OR THE LEAK BECOMES FAST ENOUGH TO GIVE HER A FLAT TIRE. *TR
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH MY DASHBOARD MELTING AND BEING EXTREMELY STICKY. THE GLARE FROM THE STICKY DASHBOARD MAKES IT VERY HARD TO SEE THE ROAD. WHEN DRIVING, I HAVE TO TRY AND LOOK OVER OR UNDER THE GLARE. THIS IS NOT SAFE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA MAZDA3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE DRIVER NOTICED A BURNING ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING SOUND WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND CAUSING A DANGEROUS GLARE DURING DAY TIME DRIVING. 60% OF THE TOP DASH IS MELTING AND DOES NOT DRY OR GO BACK TO NORMAL. ALWAYS STICKY AND DANGEROUS DURING SUNNY DAYS DUE TO GLARE REFLECTING OFF MELTED SURFACE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA MAZDA3. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER CHECKING HIS VEHICLE THE FOLLOWING MORNING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE NUT THAT HOLDS THE VALVE STEM HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,861.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME SEPARATED FROM THE BASE. THE CONTACT'S INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND A DEFECTIVE WELDING, WHICH CAUSED THE BASE TO SEPARATE FROM THE SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT THE VEHICLE WAS 100,000.
THE TOP OF MY DASHBOARD HAS MELTED. IT HAS A STICKY, SHINY TEXTURE NOW. I LIVE IN FLORIDA, SO I GUESS IT MELTED FROM THE HEAT. IT'S SO BAD I CAN'T PUT ANYTHING NEAR OR ON IT FOR FEAR IT MIGHT GET RUINED BY THE DASHBOARD (EX: PARKING PASSES). THE GLARE SOMETIMES GETS BAD ENOUGH WHERE IT OBSTRUCTS MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR IS JUST ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD NOW, BUT THE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTED FOR A LONG TIME. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF HEALTH RISK FROM DRIVING AROUND WITH MELTING PLASTIC IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE. *TR
MY DASHBOARD HAS BEEN INCREASINGLY STICKY FOR YEARS NOW, DESPITE ALL ATTEMPTS TO CLEAN IT. IT HAS INCREASED TO THE POINT OF REFLECTING OFF OF THE DASHBOARD AND DISTRACTING ME WHEN I DRIVE. I TOOK IT INTO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. I CANNOT IMAGINE THE CHEMICALS ARE GOOD TO BREATHE IN. *TR
DASHBOARD IS MELTING, SURFACE HAS BECOME STICKY AND CAUSING GLARE ON WINDSHIELD. *TR
SPONTANEOUS FAILURE OF TIRE VALVE STEM RESULTING IN THE NEAR INSTANTANEOUS DECOMPRESSION OF THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. AT THE TIME I WAS ATTEMPTING TO CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE OF THAT WHEEL. THE STEM SEPARATED INTO TWO PIECES WITHOUT ANY PRIOR INDICATION OF WEAR. *TR
THE DASHBOARD SEEMS TO BE MELTING BY THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THIS IS PRODUCING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IS SEEN WHILE DRIVING. *TR
NEW CAR, MAZDA M3, PURCHASED IN APRIL 2010. YOKOHAMA TIRES WERE ON THE CAR. CAR CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000 MILES AND TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED. LAST NIGHT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WENT FLAT. UPON REMOVING THE TIRE TO FIX THE FLAT, THE SIDEWALL HAD SPLIT FROM THE TREAD. THIS HAPPENED ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE MEANING THE SIDE OF THE TIRE AGAINST THE CAR SO IT WAS NOT VISIBLE FROM JUST LOOKING AT THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. THE SPLIT IS 15 INCHES IN LENGTH AND I CAN SEE THAT THERE ARE OTHER AREAS THAT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE ABOUT TO SPLIT AS WELL. I FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12T025000 TALKING ABOUT RECALL OF A YOKOHAMA TIRE THAT SEEMS TO MATCH WHAT I HAVE HAD. I HAVE CONTACTED MY CAR DEALER AS THE RECALL SAYS THE DEALER WILL REPLACE FREE OF CHARGE, BUT THEY AREN'T AWARE OF ANY RECALL. I'VE BEEN ON HOLD FOR YOKOHAMA FOR 30+ MINUTES WITH NO LUCK IN SPEAKING TO A LIVE PERSON. I CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO HAVE A CAR AND BASED ON ALL I'VE READ ABOUT THESE TIRES, I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE MY CHILDREN RIDE ON TIRES THAT PERFORM LIKE THIS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO WAIT ON A PROCESS TO DETERMINE IF YOKOHAMA WILL MAKE GOOD ON THEIR WARRANTY CLAIMS. I HAVE TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES AND WILL BE PURCHASING 4 NEW TIRES AND NOT YOKOHAMA. *TR
CLUTCH GAVE OUT AT 33,000 MILES. THAT IS ABSURD. MAZDA CLAIMS ITS UNDER THEIR "WEAR AND TEAR" BUT THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. PREMATURE CLUTCH FAILURE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON MAZDA 3'S BACK IN 2011. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA MAZDA3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE PLASTIC HEIGHT ADJUSTER FOR THE SEAT BROKE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO MOVE WHENEVER THE CONTACT COMPLETED A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEIGHT ADJUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
UNABLE TO SEE OUT FRONT WINDSHIELD DUE TO GLARE FROM MELTING DASHBOARD WITH SUN HITTING AT CERTAIN ANGLES. *TR
DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING, TO MY SURPRISE WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT WAS PROBABLY BY A CLEANING PRODUCT WITCH WASN'T THE CASE. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT BY THE GLARE, MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT. IT SEEMS IT IS THE CASE TO MANY OTHERS MAZDA 3 OWNERS I KNOW. I NEVER SAW THIS HAPPENING TO ANY CAR DASHBOARD BEFORE. IT CONCERNS ME BECAUSE OF MY SAFETY WHEN DRIVING. *TR
CLUTCHES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BULLET PROOF. BEING ONE OF THE MAIN PARTS OF THE CAR AND NECESSARY TO IT'S BASIC FUNCTION, CLUTCHES SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE 5 YEAR/60,000 MILES WARRANTY. BUT THEY'RE NOT. THE CLUTCH ON THE 2010 MAZDA3 IS ONLY COVERED FOR 7500 MILES. THAT'S SUSPICIOUS IN AND OF ITSELF. SO HERE'S MY STORY, MY CLUTCH GAVE OUT AFTER 50,000 MILES. NO WARNING OR ANYTHING. THE MECHANIC I TOOK IT TO SAID IN THE 32 YEARS HE'S BEEN FIXING CLUTCHES, HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO HORRIFIC. HE HAD TO HAVE METAL FABRICATORS COME IN AND MAKE PARTS BECAUSE SOME OF THE SURROUNDING EQUIPMENT WAS SO WARPED. MAZDA CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. I'VE READ STORIES ONLINE WHERE PEOPLE REPORT THEIR CLUTCH BLOWING OUT AT 14,000 MILES. EDMUNDS.COM, A LEADER IN CAR RESOURCES RATES THE CLUTCH PROBLEM ON THIS SPECIFIC CAR AT A 9.7/10. IT'S A FAULTY PART IN A CAR AND MAZDA WILL NOT EVEN CONSIDER IT TO BE AN ACTUAL THING. IT'S NOT RIGHT AT ALL. *TR
I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO AN AUTHORIZED MAZDA DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MENTIONED THAT I NOTICED A SLIGHT SLIPPING IN THE CLUTCH. I WAS LATER INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST 33,000 HIGHWAY MILES, THE ENTIRE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. I COMPLAINED TO MAZDA CUSTOMER CARE AND GOT NO WHERE. THE MOST FRUSTRATING PART IS THAT AFTER THE DEALER COMPLETED THE REPAIR, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CLUTCH SHOWED NO SIGNS OF ABUSE AND THAT IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL OPINION, THIS WAS A PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE CLUTCH. EVEN WITH THIS INFORMATION, MAZDA ITSELF STILL WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. *TR

AT AROUND 24,000 MILES I EXPERIENCED A PARTIAL CLUTCH FAILURE (COULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF GEAR) THAT WENT AWAY AFTER PUMPING THE CLUTCH PETAL. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS AND WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT, AND THAT IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO CLUTCH FREEZING UP IN THE COLD. AT AROUND 30,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED SHAKING WHENEVER I ENGAGED/DISENGAGED THE CLUTCH. IN ORDER TO GET THE CLUTCH TO ENGAGE AT ALL I HAD TO LET OFF THE CLUTCH PETAL MUCH SLOWER THAN USUAL. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED AT AND WAS TOLD THE FRICTION DISC WAS WORN OUT, AND THAT THIS WAS A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM AND THEREFORE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IN ADDITION, THEY SAID THAT THE PILOT BEARING HAD FAILED. AFTER GETTING THESE ITEMS REPLACED A LOUD CREAKING NOISE OCCURS WHENEVER ENGAGING/DISENGAGING THE CLUTCH OR ACCELERATOR PEDALS. THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE ADN PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 26,000.
TODAY AS I AM REPORTING IS THE 3RD INCIDENT OF THIS TYPE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW, AND MY CAR NOW HAS ONLY 44 K MILES ON IT. THE TPMS SENSORS ON THE MAZDA 3 ARE CONNECTED TO THE AIR VALVE IN THE TIRES. TPMS SENSORS ARE VERY FICKLE AND TEND TO CORRODE AND BREAK WITH SEASONAL WEATHER. WHEN THE TPMS SENSOR BREAKS ON A MAZDA3, IT LETS ALL THE AIR OUT OF YOUR TIRE AND GIVES YOU A FLAT, STRANDING YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE. TPMS SENSORS ARE SUPPOSED TO AID DRIVERS TO LET THEM KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT IN THIS CASE, THEY ACTUALLY CAUSE THE PROBLEM. THE AIR VALVE BEING CONNECTED TO THE TPMS IS UNIQUE TO THE DESIGN OF THIS CAR, AND HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM FOR ME WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THIS CAN LEAD TO DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, DEPENDING ON HOW FAST THE CAR IS TRAVELING AND WHERE. I HAVE LOST AIR ON THE HIGHWAY AND BEEN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TPMS SENSORS/INSTALLATION ARE 200 BUCKS EACH APPROXIMATELY, AND IF YOUR TIRE GETS RIPPED UP DURING THE INCIDENT, YOU MUST ALSO BUY A NEW TIRE. *TR
THE CLUTCH ON MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION 2010 MAZDA3 SUDDENLY STOPPED OPERATING PROPERLY. IT GRINDS GEARS AND DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS WHEN I SHIFT. I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN TO A MAZDA DEALER ON SATURDAY, WITH A WEEK LEFT ON MY WARRANTY. ON MONDAY, THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THEIR TECHNICIAN COULD NOT EVEN DRIVE MY CAR AS THERE WAS NO CLUTCH PAD! I WONDERED HOW I COULD DRIVE THE CAR TO THEM, BUT ONCE IT WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION, IT WAS SUDDENLY UNDRIVEABLE. I AM NOW BEING FORCED TO PAY $1100 TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH, BECAUSE THEY SAY MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I ASKED HOW A COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED CLUTCH PAD IS "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" ON A VEHICLE WHICH HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 16K MILES! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS HAD IT FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING! I FILED A CLAIM WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I ALSO CALLED THE MAZDA CORPORATE OFFICE FOR ASSISTANCE, WHERE I WAS TOLD I COULD SIMPLY VOICE A COMPLAINT. "TOM" REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR OR ANYONE HIGHER THAN HIMSELF (HE WAS JUST A CALL-CENTER EMPLOYEE). HE OFFERED TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK THEM TO PROVIDE ME WITH A DISCOUNT. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE DEALER TODAY, THEY SAID TOM DID CALL THEM, BUT NEVER ASKED FOR ANY DISCOUNTS! ALL HE DID WAS EXPLAIN THAT MAZDA HAS NOT RECALLED THE CLUTCH, SO MY WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT. MAZDA SOLD ME A SUB-PAR VEHICLE, AND NOW THEY LIED ABOUT THEIR WAY OF HANDLING THE ERROR. I LOOKED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME VEHICLE CLAIMING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS ON A LOW-MILEAGE CLUTCH. THIS CLEARLY IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, NOT DRIVER ERROR. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON IN THIS EXACT MAKE AND MODEL WITH SUCH LOW MILES. $1100 LATER AND I GET A NEW SHODDY CLUTCH WHICH I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IN ANOTHER 16K MILES. IT IS NOW MARCH 2014, AND 3 OF THE TPMS VALVE STEMS HAVE CORRODED AND ARE FALLING APART. THE FIRST ONE WAS DISCOVERED DURING TIRE REPLACEMENT. NOW 2 MORE ARE FALLING APART. ALL COMPONENTS ARE THE ORIGINAL, SO THE CLAIM ABOUT GALVANIC CORROSION DUE TO USING AFTERMARKET VALVES WITH BRASS IS IRRELEVANT. MAZDA HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. FOR REFERENCE I ALSO OWN A TOYOTA RAV4 AND THE TPMS ARE STILL PERFECT. *TR
MY DASHBOARD HAS BEGUN TO MELT ALL THE WAY ACROSS. IT IS AWFUL. I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO TILT MY HEAD WHEN DRIVING AS IT CREATES A GLARE THAT IS DIFFICULT AND COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS REALLY HARD ON THE EYES AS WELL. I HAVE TRIED TO USE A SHIELD BUT THE SHIELD STICKS TO THE MELTING DASH AND THEN MAKES FOR AN ADDITIONAL MESS ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE BEFORE DRIVING. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. THANK YOU. THIS SHOULD BE PAID AT THE EXPENSE OF MAZDA. CARS HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITHOUT THIS ISSUE IN TEMPERATURES ALL OVER THE WORLD. THIS IS WRONG.
DURING THE SUMMER MY DASHBOARD BECAME STICKY AND SHINY DUE TO THE HEAT IN FLORIDA. IF TOUCHED THE PLASTIC FROM THE DASHBOARD WILL STICK TO SKIN, FABRIC, AND EVEN THE WINDOW COVER. EVEN DURING THE COOLER MONTHS THE DASHBOARD NEVER RETURNS TO ITS ORIGINAL TEXTURE. AGAIN USING A WINDOW COVER DOESN'T KEEP THE DASHBOARD FROM MELTING SINCE THE CAR CONTINUE TO HEAT UP. THIS CAUSES A SERIOUS GLARE DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY AND MAKES THE DASHBOARD MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE OR STAINING OTHER PARTS OF MY CAR. *TR
ON AUGUST 29TH WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2010 MAZDA 3, GOING ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR, THE POWER STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, AND ALL THE WARNING/INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON. I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I TRIED TO RE-START THE CAR, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND THE WARNING/INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON STEADY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK WARNING LIGHT, WHICH WAS FLASHING RED. IT WAS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE BECAUSE THE RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED FINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALER. THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT ACCESS THE PCM TO READ THE ERROR CODE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED, AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE PCM. I CALLED MAZDA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND COMPLAINED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PCM FAILURE DOES NOT RELATE TO THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. THIS IS SIMILAR TO COMPLAIN #10461029. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AGAIN, AND I WOULD LIKE MAZDA TO TAKE IT BACK. IT ONLY HAS 23000 MILES, AND I HAVE ANOTHER 6 MONTH TO GO ON MY LEASE. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING I FELT AN UNEASE MOVEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. SUDDENLY IT STARTED A KIND OF A "ROCKING CHAIR" MOVEMENT. THEN IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING SNAPPED AND BROKE. I MOVE MY SELF FORWARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR AND STOPPED. AS SOON AS I RAISED MY BODY FROM THE SEAT I COMPLETETLY FELL BACKWARDS. AS I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT THERE WAS A PIECE OF METAL COVERED WITH A CLEAN TYPE OF GREASE OR LUBRICANT OF ABOUT 4" LONG LAYING UNDER MY SEAT.
SIMILAR TO COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR, CLUTCH UNEXPECTEDLY GAVE OUT AROUND 30,000 MILES. DRIVER WAS PROFICIENT IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND INCIDENTS WOULD SUGGEST A CLUTCH PROBLEM UNTIL CLUTCH FAILED AND CAR COULD NOT ACCELERATE ON HIGHWAY.
2010 MAZDA 3 DASH PANEL/DASHBOARD (P/N: BBM460400H02) IS MELTING. THE DASH PANEL SOFT-TOUCH COATING MATERIAL FIRST TURNED STICKY AND EVENTUALLY DISINTEGRATED INTO A VISCOUS SUBSTANCE. SURFACE FINISH TURNED FROM MATTE TO HIGH GLOSS. THE NOW REFLECTIVE DASH SURFACE CAUSES A LARGE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND OBSTRUCTS DRIVER'S VISIBILITY. *TR

THE EXPLOSION OF THE SUNROOF WAS VERY SCARY AND ALMOST CAUSE ME TO CRASH. *TR

AS A RESULT OF THE MELTING DASH, VISIBILITY CAN OCCASIONALLY BECOME OBSCURED BY SUNLIGHT GLARE CAUSING SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARDS. MELTING DASH MATERIAL IS TRANSFERRED TO REMOVABLE SUN SCREEN PUT IN TO REFLECT SUNLIGHT OUT OF THE VEHICLE - THIS MELTED DASH MATERIAL CAN THEN BE TRANSFERRED TO THE WINDSHIELD ITSELF WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO CLEAN.
DASHBOARD GETTING VERY SOFT IN THE SUN. ALWAYS REMAINS STICKY AND CONTINUES TO LEAVE RESIDUE ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING GLARE. *TR
