THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE MELTED INTO THE CONSISTENCY OF LIQUID TAR.IT IS STICKY AND VERY SHINNING CAUSING BLINDING GLARE. I TOOK IT TO THE LODI MAZDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT EXPIRED 1 MONTH AGO AND THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THIS FOR FREE. I CALLED THE COOPERATE OFFICE WHO SAID THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE AWARE THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT HEAT RESISTANT. HOW IRONIC THAT THIS HAPPENED TO MY CAR 1 MONTH AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST ME 1200 DOLLARS TO REPAIR.SINCE THIS WAS THERE FAULT FOR INSTALLING A NOT HEAT RESISTANT DASH THEY SHOULD REPLACE IT AT ANYTIME FOR FREE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW WITH THE GLARE THE MELTED DASH CAUSES.
FOR THESE INCIDENTS THERE WAS FRIENDS WHO WAS IN MY VEHICLE DURING AND EVEN WITNESS THESE INCIDENTS HAPPEN WHILE IN THE VEHICLE. ON THE WAY TO WORK I TRIED TO DOWNSHIFT ON THE SPORT MODE LIKE I USUALLY DO. BUT IT CONTINUED TO STAY IN 5, THEN ALL OF SUDDEN IT JUMPED TO 3 AS I SLOW DOWN A BIT THEN ALL OF SUDDEN TO 1 WHICH MADE THE CAR JERK A BIT BOTH TIMES DUE TO GEAR DROP AND CAUSE THE CAR TO REV AT A HIGHER RPM. WHICH ALMOST COST AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS HAPPENING QUITE OFTEN SO I HAD TO SWITCH TO NORMAL DRIVE MODE( D) ON ANOTHER OCCASION THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AFTER MAKING A QUICK LEFT OR RIGHT TURN BUT THIS HAPPEN ONLY A FEW TIME, THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE LIGHTS OFF WAS TO PARK SOMEWHERE SAFE AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO REMOVE THE LIGHTS. NOW IT'S SUMMER TIME AN THIRD PROBLEM HAS APPEAR, FOR SOME RANDOM REASON AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IS GOING CRAZY AND BLOWING HOT AIR INSTEAD OF COLD AIR IN THE CRAZY TEXAS SUMMER HEAT, WHAT'S EVEN MORE CRAZY IS DRIVER SIDE BLOW EXTREMELY HOT AIR AND PASSENGER SIDE BLOW HOT AIR BUT AT A LOWER DEGREES. SOMETIME EVEN SMELLING A SMOKY BURNING PLASTIC SMELL. I FIND IT EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR A CAR TO HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE SHIFTING AND CAUSING THE CAR TO LAG IN SHIFTING GEAR PROPERLY WHICH CAUSE TO JERK IN MOVING TRAFFIC WHICH CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT. TO ADD EVEN ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL MIGHT HAVE ISSUES WHICH SCARES ME EVEN MORE. NOW EVEN HOT AIR WITH MAYBE A BURNING PLASTIC SMELL. CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHECK PROPERLY BUT THESE DRIVING WITH THESE UNSAFE ISSUES CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND EVEN WORST DEATH IF NOT CHECK PROPERLY. MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE IN A CAR IS IT'S ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND STOP PROPERLY, WITHOUT THOSE, IT BECOMES A DANGEROUS OBJECT ON THE ROAD.
MY MAZDA 3 2010 HAS ABOUT 3 RECALLS. I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO DO THE RECALLS SINCE LAST YEAR, BUT DUE TO MY SCHEDULE, I CANNOT MAKE IT DURING THE WEEKDAYS. NOW THIS MONTH, WHEN I LOOKED AT THE RECALL LETTERS, I FOUND OUT I SHOULD DO THE RECALLS VERY SOON, BUT I HAD HARD TIME TO GET DAY OFF DURING THE WEEKDAYS, SO I WAS ASKING THE DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE ME FOR WEEKENDS. BUT THEY REFUSED. I KNOW THIS IS A FREE SERVICE, BUT HOW CAN THEY ONLY GIVE US SCHEDULE FOR WEEKDAYS AND REFUSE TO DO THE WORK FOR WEEKENDS. THIS IS ABOUT SAFETY. I DON'T DRIVE THIS CAR OFTEN, BUT I STILL WANT THIS TO BE DONE. I THINK IT IS WRONG THAT THE DEALERSHIP REFUSE RECALLS SERVICE. I DON'T THINK THEY WILL REFUSE THE SERVICE THAT PAY THEM MONEY. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! I THINK THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD MONITOR THIS. BECAUSE THEY REFUSING THE WEEKENDS SERVICE, A LOT PEOPLE MAY HOLD OFF THEIR RECALLS JUST LIKE ME, WHICH MAY CAUSE PROBLEM FOR THE ROAD SAFETY. THE ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ONE DAY SEEMINGLY OUT OF NOWHERE. THERE IS A MAZDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM FOR AREAS WITH HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN AND WAS CONSTANT IN THE HOT WASHINGTON DC SUMMER, BUT HAS BECOME INTERMITTENT NOW THAT WINTER HAS COME. THE TSB IS QUOTED BELOW. THIS REALLY SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL VERSUS A TSB. ABS AND DSC HAS BEEN DISABLED DUE TO A FAULTY ABS MODULE AND THE DEALER DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE REPAIR COST IS RIDICULOUSLY HIGH AND THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED PER THE AMOUNT OF INTERNET TRAFFIC ALONE REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A NICE TO HAVE FEATURE THIS IS A MUST HAVE AS IT COULD SAFE A LIFE. I HAVE SEEN REPORTS WHEN THE WHOLE SYSTEM FAILS. I WAS TOLD I COULD DRIVE WITHOUT IT EVEN THOU TOTAL BREAK FAILURE COULD OCCUR.

STICKY DASH LEAVES A MAJOR GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD, IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN THE SUN
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that overtime the dashboard had become glossy and sticky due to excessive heat. The contact also stated that on sunny days, the sun would reflect off the glossy surface and would obstruct her vision while driving. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and they informed her that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was informed that unless she had received a notification that her vehicle was under recall or warranty, no assistance could be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA 3. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND THE POWER STEERING AND OIL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STEERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN MECHANIC, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO COMPASS MOTORS (200 DOLSON AVE, MIDDLETOWN, NY 10940, (844) 258-3818), BUT THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER YELLED AT HER WHILE SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO THEN CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE DEALER CLAIMED TO HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG AND PROMISED TO HAVE THE OWNER OF THE DEALER CALL HER BACK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK AND TRADED IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO SCARED TO DRIVE THE OLD VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,220. *AS UPDATE: THE CONTACT HAS SUFFERED A TORN LIGAMENT DUE TO TURNING WHEEL OF THE CAR WITH NO POWER.*AS
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DASH LIGHTS START BLINKING AND CAR STOPS ACCELERATING, TURNS ON BY WON'T MOVE. MECHANIC SAYS ENGINE IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH TRANSMISSION. ELECTRICAL ISSUE SEEMS LIKE. WHEN IT RESTS IT WILL WORK BUT THEN AFTER DRIVING IT HAPPENS AGAIN. IT JUST STOPS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING, DANGEROUS.
ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME AND HAVE STAYED ON. TOLD THE ABS MODULE NEEDS REPLACING.
2010 MAZDA 3. IN AN EMERGENCY HIGHWAY INCIDENT I WAS FORCED TO BRAKE AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT I AVOIDED A COLLISION BY SWERVING OUT OF DANGER. AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT EFFECTIVELY STOP THE CAR LEADING ME TO CONCLUDE THE BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED AND EVENTUALLY THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL TO STOP THE CAR. THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED SINCE THE CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 2010. FURTHER RESEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN KNOWN BY MAZDA FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND A TSB WAS ISSUED. AS THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE, A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED SINCE THE ABS SYSTEM IS CRITICAL TO THE SAFE OPERATION OF A VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, MAZDA HAS NOT DEEMED A POTENTIAL, COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM TO BE A SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH ISSUE TO ORDER A RECALL. THE FAILURE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DRIVER USE BUT IS DUE TO A FAULTY SYSTEM AS THIS COMPONENT SHOULD TYPICALLY LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE OR AT LEAST LONGER THAN 53000 MILES AND LIMITED DRIVING.
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN I-70 IN INDIANA IN THE EVENING WHEN SUDDENLY OUR SUNROOF EXPLODED. WE NEVER SAW A ROCK HIT IT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT; THERE WAS JUST A LOUD NOISE, TINKLING GLASS AND IT WAS MOSTLY GONE. LUCKILY WE HAD THE SUN VISOR PULLED OVER IT, SO NO GLASS GOT IN THE CAR, BUT IT'S STILL A PRETTY MAJOR ISSUE TO HAVE A HOLE IN THE ROOF OF YOUR CAR, BOTH FROM A WATER DAMAGE AND SECURITY STANDPOINT. THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN 70'S, SO EXTREME WEATHER DIDN'T PLAY A ROLE.
THE TRANSMISSION MODULE (TCM) IS DAMAGED QUICKLY BECAUSE IT MELTS THE SILICONE THAT PROTECTS IT, SINCE THE HEAT EMITTED BY THE ENGINE IS VERY DIRECT, WHICH CAUSES THE TCM TO BE DAMAGED AND THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT WORK. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON IN THE MAZDA3-2010 THEREFORE IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT
10+ INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION SINCE AUG 2018. ALWAYS AT FREEWAY SPEED OF TRAFFIC, I.E. 70-75MPH. OCCURS WHEN INTENTIONALLY DECELERATING (EASING OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND INITIATING BRAKING). RPMS JUMP TO 7 OR 8. ACCELERATION IMMEDIATELY DROPS AND STEADS AFTER TAPPING/APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKES. HAS BEEN TAKEN RALPH THAYER DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES -- AUG2018, JAN2019, FEB2019. EACH TIME VEHICLE KEPT FOR A WEEK BUT UNABLE TO DUPLICATE ISSUE. DATA RECORDER WAS INSTALLED IN JAN2019. DESPITE A SEVERAL MINUTE LONG EPISODE ON FEB 22, 2019 IN WHICH THE CAR BEHAVED ERRATICALLY (BUCKLING AND JOLTING) AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE MORE THAN 60 MPH WHILE THE RPMS WERE HIGH (4-5) FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THIS WAS SOMEHOW NOT SENSED BY THE DATA RECORDER. MY OWN GUESS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE PCM OR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. HAVE SUAS AFFECTED TRANSMISSION? SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE YET THE DEALER/MAZDA REACTION IS PERFUNCTORY AT BEST. NO COMMITMENT TO RESOLVE. E.G. BECAUSE MY DRIVING WAS LIMITED WHILE THE RECORDER WAS IN, I REQUESTED THAT IT BE LEFT IN FOR 3 MONTHS. MAZDA REFUSED, STATING THAT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN (AND IT WILL), THEY'LL REINSTALL THE RECORDER. THAT A COLLISION HASN'T HAPPENED IS JUST LUCK. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THIS VEHICLE IS IMMINENT SINCE THESE ISSUES ADVERSELY AFFECT THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I ALSO DON'T RELISH BEING MY OWN CRASH TEST DUMMY. THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BEYOND A SERIES OF EXPENSIVE PARTS REPLACEMENTS BASED ON THEIR GUESSES? I HAVE SOME VIDEO AND PHOTOS PER THEIR REQUEST, BUT NOTE THAT ATTEMPTING TO PHOTOGRAPH OR VIDEO THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING IS AN EXTRA BULLET IN WHAT ALREADY FEELS LIKE RUSSIAN ROULETTE. I'VE ATTACHED A SUMMARY OF EVENTS PROVIDED TO MAZDA IN JANUARY AND THE MOST RECENT MECHANIC'S REPORT. $800 SUGGESTED FOR GUESS-BASED TCM REPLACEMENT, $240 INCONCLUSIVE TESTS, NO LOANER PROVIDED.
MAZDA3 FACTORY-INSTALLED TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEMS ARE PREMATURELY FAILING RESULTING IN AN IMMEDIATE TIRE DEFLATION WITH NO PRIOR WARNING OR INDICATION OF FAILURE. FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN MOVING. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION (I.E. NO WARNING OR SLOW LOSS OF PRESSURE) OF A PROBLEM WITH THE VALVE. PRIOR TO THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE NEVER HAD A TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEM FAIL IN THE 35+ YEARS I HAVE OWNED VEHICLES. HOWEVER, THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES TO THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE (WHICH WE PURCHASED IN 2014) WITH THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE HAPPENING TODAY, 16 JAN 2019. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS IS A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM WITH MAZDA 3 TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEMS. I'VE ATTACHED PICTURES OF TODAY'S FAILURE AS WELL AS AN EXEMPLAR WEBSITE PRINTOUT OF IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS BY OTHER MAZDA OWNERS. GIVEN THE UNWARNED AND RAPID FAILURE OF THESE VALVE STEMS, THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE POTENTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL SHOULD THE TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEM FAIL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY DURING ADVERSE WEATHER.
TAKATA RECALL , DASHBOARD STARTING TO MELTDOWN REALLY BAD. I SEEN ALOT OF PEOPLE GOT SAME PROBLEM.THE VEHICLE IS MY COMMUTER OVER TIME IT STARTS TO GET STICKY FIBERS GET STUCK ON IT NEEDS TO RECALLED ASAP FOR THE TIMING OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT IT'S REALLY UNSAFE PLEASE HELP . WHEN VEHICLE IS IN PARK, THE SHIFT LEVER GETS STUCK AND DOES NOT SHIFT OUT OF 'PARK'.
SEAT TRACKS BROKEN - MAZDA USA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE REP SAID THAT THE DRIVER SEAT ASSEMBLY (TRACK, BOLTS, ETC...) IN MY 2010 MAZDA3 ARE EXPECTED TO WEAR AND DAMAGE FOR A SECOND TIME WITHIN THE 68K MILES I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW BACK IN AUG. OF '09. THE TRACK WAS REPLACED AFTER 34K MILES. NOW 34K MILES LATER, THE TRACK IS BROKEN AGAIN AND I HAVE A QUOTE TO HAVE IT REPLACED. MAZDA IS STATING THIS TYPE OF WEAR AND DAMAGE IS EXPECTED TO HAPPEN TO THIS PART OF THE CAR AND IS NORMAL. RECENT MAZDA SERVICE LOCATION VISITED DISAGREES. THEY AGREE WITH ME THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, NOT A NORMAL WEAR ISSUE. MAZDA USA DOES NOT AGREE THIS IS SAFETY RELATED AND WILL NOT HELP TO REMEDY.

The abs (anti-lock braking system) unit module failed and no, the failing component has been replaced. The brake pedal went to the floor and almost caused an accident. Yes, the problem kept occurring, and yes, a dealer did reproduce the problem. Yes, it has been inspected by a dealer, but not the manufacturer. No, there was no warning lamps or problems prior to the failure.
WITHIN A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING MY 2010 MAZDA 3 S SPORT SEDAN IN OCTOBER, 2018 FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN MIDVALE, UT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. USING A CODE READER, I CONSISTENTLY GET A CODE OF P0421, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE CATALYST EFFICIENCY IS BELOW THRESHOLD. I HAVE HAD 3 AUTO REPAIR SHOPS LOOK AT MY CAR, AND THEY ALL SAY THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DESPITE THE FACT THAT MAZDA WARRANTS CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS/PZEV VEHICLES (WHICH MINE IS) FOR A PERIOD OF 15 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES ON ALL EMISSIONS RELATED COMPONENTS, THEY WILL NOT REPAIR MY CAR UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I CURRENTLY DO NOT LIVE IN A STATE THAT USES CA EMISSIONS STANDARDS WHEN TESTING VEHICLE EMISSIONS. I FEEL THAT SINCE MY CAR IS NOT PERFORMING AS IT WAS DESIGNED AND MAY BE RELEASING MY POLLUTANTS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE THAT IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER AT NO CHARGE TO ME, REGARDLESS OF WHERE I CURRENTLY LIVE. IN ADDITION, WHEN I START THE CAR ON A COLD ENGINE, I CAN SMELL EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE CABIN, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE MAY BE A LEAK AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS TO ANYONE DRIVING THE CAR IF THEY INHALE THE EXHAUST GASES THAT MAY ENTER THE PASSENGER AREA THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON DAILY (UNLESS I RESET IT, AND THEN IT GOES BACK ON AGAIN LATER AFTER DRIVING) AND MY CAR WILL NOT PASS ITS NEXT EMISSIONS INSPECTION WITHOUT THIS ISSUE BEING FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MAZDA 3. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED AND BEGAN TO SWITCH GEARS INVOLUNTARILY. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND OPENED THE HOOD LATCH. AAA WAS CONTACTED AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. AAA DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT MAY HAVE FRACTURED WITHIN THE VEHICLE. MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT FOR AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME UNTIL A POLICE OFFICER KINDLY PULLED ME OVER AND TOLD ME. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE LIGHT REPLACED, THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WAS OUT, NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. I ASSUMED THE OFFICER HAD MADE A MISTAKE. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING APPROX 40MPH ON AN UNLIT ROAD WHEN BOTH MY HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHTBULB MYSTERIOUSLY CAME ON AGAIN BUT THE DRIVER SIDE DIDN'T. SO THEN THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT WAS REPLACED AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY INSPECTED THE PASSENGER SIDE ONE AND REPORTED IT 'CHECKED GOOD'. IT WAS ONLY GOOD FOR A FEW MONTHS BECAUSE IT'S OUT AGAIN. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXCESSIVE CONDENSATION IN THESE LIGHTS BUT I DISMISSED IT - MAZDA OR THE MECHANICS WOULD TELL ME IF IT COULD BE A PROBLEM, RIGHT? DASH LIT UP WITH MESSAGE AIRBAG IS OFF. CALLED MY DEALER IN ST APEATERS AND TOLD CAN'T CHECK UNLESS IT IS ON AND WOULD BE A SERVICE COST. WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MILES AN HOUR.ON 2 WAY STREET., DRIVING IN STRAIGHT AT THE TIME.
WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND 35MPH THEN VERY SUDDENLY IN A TURN POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THEN SHORTLY AFTER STEERING CAME BACK ON. ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT
DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD THAT CANNOT WITHSTAND EXPOSURE TO SUNLIGHT, RESULTING IN THE DASHBOARD MELTING, EMITTING A NOXIOUS SMELL AND TAKING ON A REFLECTIVE QUALITY. WHEN THE DASHBOARD BECOMES REFLECTIVE, DRIVERS TRYING TO SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO SEE PAST THE IMAGE OF THE DASHBOARD IN THE WINDSHIELD. MAZDA FAILED TO NOTIFY CONSUMERS TIMELY RE: THE DEFECT. WHEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS WERE FILED, MAZDA WAS FORCED TO TAKE ACTION. THEY OFFERED A LIMITED EXTENDED WARRANTY TO FIX THE "COSMETIC ISSUE" THAT RESULTED. HOWEVER, BRIGHT LIGHT REFLECTING OFF THE MELTED DASHBOARD IS TEMPORARILY BLINDING, CAUSING A HARSH GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND OBSCURING VISION, PUTTING THE DRIVER AND OTHERS AT RISK. IN ADDITION, MAZDA IS FAILING TO TAKE ANY ACTION ON VEHICLES OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY DATE, STATING THAT IT IS THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN SERVICE WITHIN A TIMELY MANNER. EACH TIME A DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE SCHEDULED RECALL REPAIRS EACH DEALERSHIP HAD CALLED AND CANCELED THE RECALL REPAIRS WITH NO AVAILABILITY ON A RESCHEDULE DATE AVAILABLE. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. PUSH BUTTON START MALFUNCTION, CAUSING INSTRUMENT PANEL TO LIGHT UP AND BEHAVE ERRATICALLY. CAR OBVIOUSLY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT THAT POINT. SHIFTING INTO REVERSE LOUDER THAN NORMAL AND VERY NOTICEABLE JERK. SAME RESULT WHEN SHIFTING BACK TO DRIVE. DID NOT ATTEMPT ANY MOVEMENT. SHUT OFF ENGINE. WAITED SEVERAL SECONDS, ATTEMPTED RESTART, BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS LIT UP WITH A RED KEY INDICATOR LIGHT. TOWED TO DEALER. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE FAILURE. RESET SYSTEM, RAN FULL DIAGNOSTIC, NO FAILURE CODES REPORTED. DROVE FINE FOR 2 DAYS, ON 3RD DAY, PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF, CAR IS NOW BACK AT THE DEALER WAITING ON REPAIR/DIAGNOSIS. CAR WAS PARKED IN HOME GARAGE SOUTHERN AZ ON BOTH OCCASIONS.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TODAY, A LOUD NOISE SOUNDING LIKE A GUNSHOT CAME FROM INSIDE OF MY CAR AND CAUGHT ME OF GUARDING CAUSING ME TO SWERVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AS I REGAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR, I SAW PIECES OF UNKNOWN DEBRIS SLIDE DOWN THE BACK OF MY REAR WINDOW. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO OTHER CARS AROUND ME. I CONTINUED HOME SINCE IT WAS ABOUT ANOTHER 2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD. AFTER ARRIVING HOME I INSPECTED THE CAR AND NOTICED THAT THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED OUTWARD AND HAD SHATTERED EVERYWHERE. THE PIECES OF DEBRIS I SAW WAS IN FACT PIECES OF SHATTERED GLASS. AT FIRST I THOUGH THAT SOMETHING WENT THROUGH THE GLASS BUT I COULD NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF AN OBJECT SUCH AS A ROCK THAT PENETRATED THE GLASS. ALSO THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED OUTWARDS INDICATING THAT IT EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THIS HAPPEN ON A CLEAR SUNNY DAY WITH TEMPS AROUND 84 DEGREE. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 TO 40 MPH ALONG A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF RURAL ROAD. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THERE WERE NO CARS WITHIN 200+ YARDS OF MINE.

TAKATA INFLATORS. HIGHWAY TRAFFIC HAD COME TO A STOP AND WHILE TRYING TO COME TO A STOP MY BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED WITH THE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE CAR BARELY SLOWED DOWN AND REAR ENDED THE STILL CAR IN FRONT AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. EVEN WITH SUCH A FORCEFUL IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T COME OUT.
WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE BYPASS WHEN THE VALVE STEM AND TPMS SENSOR BROKE OFF AND IMMEDIATELY DEFLATED THE TIRE SHAKING THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY AND ALMOST CAUSING DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL. HAVE BROUGHT THIS COMPLAINT TO MAZDA IN THE PAST AND THEY SAID THEY KNOW THAT IT IS CAUSED BY USING DISSIMILAR METALS ON THE TPMS SENSOR CAUSING EROSION TO THE STEM AND ULTIMATELY THE STEM BREAKING OFF. THIS TPMS SENSOR WAS ALREADY REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIRE CHANGE INTERVAL AND STILL FAILED LONG BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS DUE FOR ANOTHER SET OF TIRES. MAZDA KNOWS THESE ARE DEFECTIVE AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'D RATHER NOT HAVE TPMS AND NOT KNOW WHAT MY TIRE PRESSURES ARE THAN TO HAVE THAT SYSTEM ENDANGER MYSELF OR MY FAMILY ANY MORE. MAZDA 3 ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR 2 YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN CAR TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND IN 1-2 DAYS LIGHT IS BACK ON. RECENTLY CAR SEEMS TO HIC CUP ON SHIFTING AND ON BRAKING THE BACK END OF CAR SEEMS TO RUN INTO THE FRONT END. IN LAST 2 WKS AN AT LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR ALMOST WOULDN'T SHIFT IN GEAR. I HAVE A VERIZON HOM AND GOT S MESSAGE INDICATING 'SOLENOID STUCK ON E'. WHEN I CALLED FIRESTONE THEY STATED THOSE MAZDA 3 HAVE THAT PROBLEM AND THAT I NEED TO TAKE CAR TO MAZDA. IN TRYING TO UNDERSTAND MY ISSUE I GOOGLED PROBLEM THAT SHOWED THERE WAS A ELECTRICAL RECALL THAT MAY CAUSE ENGINE TO STOP OR PROBLEMS SHIFTING.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 65 MPH NEARLY LOSING CONTROL MY MY VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND EXAMINE MY TIRE, AND SAW THAT MY VALVE STEM WAS COMPLETELY MISSING FROM THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, IT APPEARS THAT THE WHEEL THREADS SHOWS SIGNS OF CORROSION WHICH MAY HAVE RESULTED IN THE TPMS MONITOR AND VALVE STEM BREAKING OFF.
THE MAZDA DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THE HARNESS FIX. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND ONE DAY, MY CAR HAD LOUD ROARING SOUND. WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS LATER, IT BEGAN TO EMIT WHITE SMOKE FROM UNDER HOOD AND BLACK SMOKE FROM TAILPIPE AND BEGIN TO LOSE POWER ON FREEWAY OFF-RAMP. I COASTED TO BOTTOM OF OFF RAMP. THEN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT TO MOVE IT TO A NEARBY KAISER LOT ADJACENT TO EXIT RAMP. FROM THERE, I HAD IT TOWED HOME AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE.
EXPLODING SUNROOF. THE GLASS IN MY SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. A LOUD BANG, FOLLOWED BY GLASS SHOWERING OCCUPANTS, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. UPON REVIEW, THE GLASS APPEARED TO BLOWN UP AND OUTWARD FROM THE VEHICLE.
AFTER TURNING ON THE CAR AND SHIFTING IT INTO DRIVE, THE CAR ACCELERATED AT ABOUT 20 MPH WITHOUT A FOOT ON THE GAS.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION, SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND HIT HEAD ON BY A CAR THAT WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER CAR FAILING TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT I WAS HIT BY THE OTHER CAR MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH IN THE FRONT END OF MY CAR, FLIPPING IT INTO THE DITCH NOSE FIRST. I AM FORTUNATE TO BE HERE WRITING THIS BECAUSE MY AIR BAGS IN THE CAR DID NOT DEPLOY AND THEY MOST CERTAINLY SHOULD HAVE. OWNERS RELY ON THEIR CAR'S AIR BAG TO DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF THIS TYPE OF SITUATION. I AM FORTUNATE TO HAVE HAD MY SEAT BELT ON. I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, WHIPLASH AND A HIP ISSUE THAT HAS YET TO BE DIAGNOSED. PLEASE FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE PAYS DEARLY FOR THIS WITH THEIR LIFE. I WAS FORTUNATE.
