I HAVE A 2006 MAZDA 6 WITH A VIN IN THE RECALL RANGE, EXCEPT I LIVE IN MICHIGAN SO IT IS NOT RECALLED. MY INFLATOR WILL CONTINUE TO DEGRADE, AT A SLOWER RATE THAN THOSE IN HIGH HUMID AREAS, BUT IT WILL EVENTUALLY GET TO THE POINT WHERE IT WILL HAVE TAKEN IN ENOUGH MOISTURE TO DISASSEMBLE WHEN DEPLOYED. I WANT THIS TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE IT BLOWS UP. THE SUPPLIER HAS DEMONSTRATED AN UNWILLINGNESS TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT HAS A PROBLEM. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE CONCERNED THAT A SUPPLEMENTAL SAFETY DEVICE CAN DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. ASK THOSE INVOLVED IN THE INDUSTRY AND YOU WILL GET A COMMON RESPONSE THAT "DEATH" IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FAILURE EFFECT. THERE IS PROBABLY A PRETTY [XXX] GOOD REASON NO OTHER AIRBAG INFLATOR MANUFACTURER USES AMMONIUM NITRATE IN THEIR PROPELLANT FORMULATIONS. INFLATORS LEAK. ALWAYS DO AND ALWAYS WILL. YOU CANNOT KEEP THE MOISTURE OUT INDEFINATELY. NOW THEY'VE REISSUED THE RECALL UNDER A NEW NUMBER (15V-382) BUT STILL NO PARTS/REMEDIES ARE AVAILABLE. THERE ARE MILLIONS OF LIVES AT STAKE. IS THERE A TIME LIMIT? THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY BACK CARS WITH DEFECTS OR PAY FOR US TO LEASE ANOTHER CAR UNTIL THEY CAN FIX IT. I HAVE RECEIVED 4 RECALLS FOR AIRBAG, RECALL DATE: JUNE 19, 2014 , RECALL DATE: JUNE 17, 2015 , RECALL DATE: DECEMBER 22, 2015, RECALL DATE: MAY 25, 2016 , NO ACTION BEEN TAKING YET BECAUSE THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PART! RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE !
TAKATA RECALL - INITIAL RECALL FOR THIS UNIT WAS JUNE 2014. NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN BY MANUFACTURER TO DATE, CONTACTING THEM I WAS TOLD THAT NO REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, AND THEY HAVE NO TIMELINE ESTIMATE FOR PARTS AVAILABILITY. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN ACTIVE NOW FOR ALMOST 2.5 YEARS WITH NO ACTION ON THE PART OF THE MANUFACTURER, AND IS NOT BEING DEALT WITH IN A TIMELY MANNER.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT DRIVER AIR BAG SINCE JUNE OF 2014. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA IN FEBRUARY OF 2015 THAT STATED I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN A PART IS AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED A MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN JUNE OF 2015 TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE AIRBAG AND WAS TOLD I NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE AVAILABLE. IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IS THERE ANY ACTION THAT CAN BE TAKEN TO HAVE THIS EXPEDITED OR FINANCIAL COMPENSATION FOR THE LOSS OF A VEHICLE?
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED IN A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED EVEN AFTER THE HAND BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF A TRUCK, TREE, AND TRANSFORMER BEFORE FINALLY CRASHING INTO A METAL FENCE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. I NOTICED THE COOLING FAN COMING ON EVERY TIME I TURN THE CAR ON AND IT DOESN'T TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE ENGINE IS RUNNING IN THE NORMAL TEMPERATURE RANGE, SO I DON'T THINK THE FAN SHOULD BE RUNNING CONSTANTLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC, WHO NOTIFIED ME OF A RECALL BY MAZDA FOR THE FAN CONTROL MODULE FOR THE SAME PRODUCTION YEAR AND THE SAME MAKE/MODEL. I REACHED OUT TO MAZDA, BUT THEY NOTIFIED ME MY VIN DIDN'T FALL IN THE RANGE OF THE RECALL. IT SEEMS ODD THAT THE SAME PRODUCT WOULD HAVE THE SAME ISSUE IN THE SAME CAR BUT NOT BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. I WANTED TO NOTIFY THE NHTSA OF THE ISSUE IN HOPES THAT MAZDA WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTIVATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
STEERING LOCKED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN THE CITY AT AROUND 35-40 MPG. IT WOULD SLIGHTLY PULL THE RIGHT THOUGH VERY HARD. IT UNLOCKS IF THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK AGAIN. THE ISSUE REPEATED 10 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT FOLLOWED BY A LOUD THUD WHICH APPEARED TO COMING FROM THE CAR AS THE ROAD WAS CLEAN. STEERING WAS UNLOCKED ONCE RESTARTED.*JS
I OWN A 2006 MAZDA SPEED6 WITH 96,600 MILES, PURCHASED DECEMBER 2005. MY SPEED6 HAS ALWAYS HAD A TURBOCHARGER SMOKING PROBLEM. AT ONE POINT, IT LOOKED LIKE A MOSQUITO SPRAYING TRUCK GOING DOWN THE ROAD. BUT THAT ISSUE SEEMED TO ABATE, AND APPEARED TO BE UNDER CONTROL ON ITS OWN. NOW THE CAR IS BURNING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 300 MILES. THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, AND AFTER A YEARLONG ATTEMPT TO WATCH THE PROBLEM, TO SEE IF IT COULD BE CONTROLLED, I FINALLY CAME TO THE CONCLUSION, THAT IT COULD NOT, AND THAT THE TURBOCHARGED HAD TO BE REPLACED. I THUS MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE MAZDA DEALER CLOSEST TO MY CURRENT RESIDENCE, PADUCAH MAZDA, IN PADUCAH, KY. I TOOK THE CAR IN YESTERDAY, AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM MY TURBOCHARGER SEALS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL KNOWN AND PREVALENT, SUBJECT TO A NHTSA INQUIRY #10043874. AND AS A RESULT MAZDA ISSUED A LETTER EXTENDING THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM TO 84 MONTHS OR 70,000 MILES. I DO NOT RECALL RECEIVING THIS LETTER, OR IF I DID, AT THAT TIME DID NOT BELIEVE I HAD A PROBLEM WORTHY OF A NEW TURBOCHARGER. SO YESTERDAY, THE MAZDA CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM, AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $2500 TO REPLACE THE TURBOCHARGER. SINCE THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN WELL KNOWN, DOCUMENTED, AND SUBJECT OF A MAZDA WARRANTY CONSIDERATION, I CALLED MAZDA CONSUMER SERVICE TO SEE IF MAZDA COULD OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE ON THIS SERVICE ISSUE. I OFFERED TO WORK WITH THEM, TO PAY SOME PORTION OF THE REPAIR, MEET THEM IN THE MIDDLE IF POSSIBLE. MY REQUEST WAS DENIED IN TOTAL; ?NO ASSISTANCE?. NATURALLY, I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS RESULT, GIVEN THAT I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL MAZDA OWNER. I AM VERY SURPRISED WITH THIS ABRUPT AND NEGATIVE TREATMENT FROM MAZDA, GIVEN THE HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM. WHEN STARTING AND INITIALLY DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN SINGLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES THE POWER ASSIST TO THE BRAKES CUTS OFF INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE IN EXTREME COLD TEMPERATURES THE "TCS OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND REMAINS LIT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30-45 SECONDS AFTER THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. WHEN DRIVING, THE VEHICLE'S POWER BRAKING SYSTEM FAILS TO ENGAGE RESULTING IN A STIFF PEDAL REQUIRING EXCESSIVE STOPPING FORCE. THIS SITUATION GOES AWAY AFTER BRAKES HAVE BEEN PUMPED OR USED REPEATEDLY (PRESUMABLY TO WARM UP FLUID). PROBLEM DOES NOT MANIFEST AT HIGHER TEMPERATURES AND NO ADDITIONAL ABNORMALITIES EXIST IN BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATE TO SIGNAL A PROBLEM. POTENTIAL FOR COLLISION IF ABOVE NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCE IS NOT OBSERVED DURING OPERATION IN COLD CONDITIONS. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT A VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC WOULD LIKELY TURN UP A "COULD NOT DUPLICATE" SCENARIO. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE. THE REAR HATCH FELL DOWN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHOUT THE CONTACT'S KNOWLEDGE. THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V644000 (STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY VEHICLES IS CLOUDING OF THE PLASTIC LENSES OVER HEADLIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM IS EXCEEDINGLY SEVERELY BAD ON THE MAZDASPEED 6. THE CLOUDING CANNOT BE REPAIRED VIA HEADLIGHT RESTORATION KITS AS ONCE IT'S REMOVED, IT COMES BACK EVEN WORSE AFTER. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES. SINCE THESE ASSEMBLIES INCLUDE THE HID HEADLIGHTS ELECTRONICS (BALLAST) THEY ARE INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE. THESE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO CLOUD AND BECOME COMPLETELY WORTHLESS WITHIN A YEAR OR TWO. ON MY 8 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THE HEADLIGHTS ARE COMPLETELY USELESS AT NIGHT, THE HIGH BEAMS PRODUCE LESS LIGHT THAN LOW BEAMS ON MOST OTHER VEHICLES. THE EASY SOLUTION FOR MAZDA WOULD BE TO RECALL THE HEADLIGHTS AND RETROFIT A LENS (GLASS OR OTHERWISE) THAT WILL NOT CLOUD. MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE INEFFECTIVENESS OF THE LOW BEAMS. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION FAILS AND REVS HIGH WHEN I ACCELERATE TOO HARD OR AM GOING UP A HILL CAUSING A DOWNSHIFT. THIS IS MOST COMMON WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN THE 5TH AND 6TH GEARS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM COMMON IN MANY VEHICLES OF THIS MODEL YEAR. IF I SUDDENLY CAN'T ACCELERATE GOING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND DROP DOWN TO 40MPH AS I WAIT FOR THE RPMS TO GO BACK DOWN, THERE IS A SERIOUS RISK OF BEING REAR ENDED OR SIDE SWIPED DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN BUT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE FIX WOULD COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. *TR

PRESSED CLUTCH IN LOUD NOISE HEARD THEN GRINDING. PEDAL STUCK TO FLOOR WHILE IN TRAFFIC. CAR I HAD HAPPILY OWNED 2 MAZDA 6 2006 SEDAN AND WAGON AND WAS CONSIDERING ANOTHER WHEN THE DIESEL COMES OUT. THAT WAS LAST WEEK. THIS WEEK WITHOUT WARNING THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND MADE A LOUD BANG GRINDING NOISE. CAR HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM MAZDA WE HAD TOLD MAZDA FOR OVER A YEAR HARD TO GET INTO REVERSE AND 1-2 CHATTER NOISE BUT NEVER GOT ANY RESOLUTION ON THIS. TOOK CAR IN DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE A CLUCTH WHICH IS NOT COVERED I WAS NOT HAPPY BUT SOMEWHAT OK WITH THAT. IT TURNS OUT THAT WENT THE PART FAILED THROWOUT BEARING IT DESTROYED THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT IS NOT COVERED (MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE MUST KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AS THEY TELL YOU NOT COVERED AND BASICALLY HANG UP ON YOU. SAME WITH MEPP WHICH I PAID A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY FOR BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED TOTAL CARE WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO COVER MANUAL TRANS BUT SOMEHOW DOES NOT. GETTING RID OF BOTH CARS AND MAY HAVE TO JUNK MY OTHER CAR WHICH WENT FROM BEING WORTH 10K TO 0. IN AN INSTANT BY A BEARING WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED. DON"T BUY MAZDA THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT. PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CONSISTENTLY ON. HAD IT RESET TWICE STILL COMES BACK ON AFTER 2 YEARS. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAD THE CODE CHECKED AND IT IS THE COOLING SENSOR. THE VEHICLE IS NOT OVERHEATING AND LIGHT WILL GO OFF FOR A SHORT TIME AND THEN COME ON AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WOULD NOT TO BE REPLACED OR THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESURFACE THE HEADLIGHT LENSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHEN COMING OFF THE FREEWAY OR DRIVING THROUGH TOWN, THE ENGINE STARTS TO SURGE. THE ENGINE RPM IS AROUND 2000 AND WILL NOT COME TO AN IDLE. ALMOST CANNOT STOP THE VEHICLE. VERY HARD BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO LOW ENGINE VACUUM, CAUSED BY THE ENGINE RPM BEING SO HIGH. THERE IS NOT A CONSISTENT BASIS FOR THIS HAPPENING.. THE REPAIR SHOP HAS REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND PURGE SOLENOID. SAME RESULTS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. NO CODES ARE STORED IN THE COMPUTER. THE GAS PEDAL IS NOT STICKING AND NO FLOOR MATS INTERFERING WITH THE GAS PEDAL. *JS

MAZDA HAS ISSUED TSB 05-016/06 TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT MY DEALER INFORMED ME THAT MAZDA NOW RECOMMENDS A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION CHANGE IN LIEU OF A VALVE BODY CHANGE RECOMMENDED BY THE TSB. THIS TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE RECALLED, IT'S UNSAFE. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR ON THE TURNPIKE AND HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A BLOWOUT. IMMEDIATELY PULLED CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART, BUT MADE NOISE AND WOULD NOT START. CALLED HUSBAND, WHO ARRIVED AND SAID THE ENGINE HAD COME APART. THERE WERE PHYSICAL PIECES OF THE ENGINE BLOCK UP TO THE SIZE OF A GOLF BALL IN THE SKID PLATE UNDER THE ENGINE, AS WELL AS OIL UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND ON THE ROAD. WE HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA A FEW WEEKS EARLIER INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE SEALS IN THE TURBO AND A STOP PIN IN THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT) AND IF THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER FOR EVALUATION AND REPAIR, UP TO 7 YEARS/70K MILES. CALLED DEALER AND MAZDA HQ NEXT MORNING. MAZDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS ACTED IF THEY WERE INTERESTED IN THE ROOT CAUSE AND REASON FOR FAILURE, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS 1K MILES OUT OF THE COVERAGE PERIOD. MAZDA PAID FOR TOW TO DEALER, BUT ONCE THERE MAZDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THE ENGINE TEARDOWN AND BEGAN TO DANCE AROUND THE WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THE VVT PROBLEM INFORMING ME THAT MAZDA IS RIGID ON THE 7YRS/70K MILES. I QUESTIONED MAZDA ON THE DISCUSSION THE PREVIOUS DAY REGARDING THE POST-MORTEM TEARDOWN AND ANALYSIS, WHERE I WAS GIVEN THE IMPRESSION MAZDA WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE TOW AND THE TEARDOWN TO DETERMINE ROOT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND THEN THE CLAIM WOULD BE EVALUATED FROM THERE. MAZDA DID A COMPLETE TURN AROUND AND WOULD NOT HONOR THEIR INITIAL WORD, NOW INFORMING ME I WOULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WORK PERFORMED ON THE CAR. *TR

THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS ON MY 2006 MAZDA 6 HAVE REPEATEDLY GONE OUT ON MY IN THE PAST YEAR. MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THIS LAST TIME I TRIED TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP AND THE BULB WAS NOT BLOWN. I INSERTED THE NEW BULB AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MAZDA 6'S AND 3'S MY PARENTS ARE GOING ON THEIR 9 BULB IN THE MAZDA 3. ACCORDING TO MANY MAZDA FORUMS THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR A NUMBER OF OTHER OWNERS AS WELL. THIS MUST BE ADDRESSED DRIVING AT NIGHT IS DIFFICULT ENOUGH BUT WHEN YOUR LIGHTS GO OUT IT MAKES IT DOWN RIGHT DANGEROUS. *TR

THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO LOCK UP AND REV AT A HIGH RATE, THEN THE CARS BUCKS AND EITHER ENGAGES AT A LOWER GEAR OR YOU HAVE TO SLOW TO A CRAWL BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED AND TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH TRAFFIC ALL AROUND, INCLUDING A SEMI-TRUCK RIGHT BEHIND MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM AND SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

THE ALARM SOUNDED, THE WINDOWS OPENED AND CLOSED, AND THE DOOR LOCKED ON THEIR OWN. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THE CONTACT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE COULD LOCK THE OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING, THE CAR SUDDENLY HAS NO POWER, THEN SHIFTS HARD DOWN, TYPICALLY IT HAPPENS SHIFTING INTO 3RD OR 4TH GEAR. UNDER ABOUT A HALF PEDAL, IT BASICALLY FEELS LIKE A STALL, THEN JERKS YOU BACKWARDS, HARD AS IT KICKS INTO GEAR AND ACCELERATES. I'M TOLD THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT THERE ARE TRANSMISSION FAILURES FOR THIS CAR. UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. *TT
I LOVE THE MAZDASPEED 6 CAR. WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS THAT RECENTLY I'VE HAD TO BORROW ANOTHER CAR TO DRIVE DUE TO THE WHITE SMOKE FROM THE MAZDA. I'VE HAD THE 2006 MAZDASPEED 6 FOR A YEAR NOW WITH 64,XXX MILES, DRIVES WELL, COMFORT COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE. TILL RANDOMLY I NOTICED WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST. I'M A SAFE DRIVER AND KEEP MY CAR MAINTAINED WELL. THE "WHITE SMOKE" IS MOST VISIBLE AT IDLE. I DID NOT WISH TO GET AN EMISSIONS TICKET, SO I PARKED IT IN MY PARENTS GARAGE. HAVING TO BORROW A ANOTHER CAR IS A REAL PAIN. I HAVE READ UPON MANY SITE'S AND FORUMS TRYING TO SEE IF THIS IS A EASY FIX. IT HAS COME TO A CONCLUSION IT IS NOT. THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALERS HAVE PUSHED ME AWAY DUE TO THIS WHITE SMOKE. I FEEL DISRESPECTED AS A MAZDA OWNER TO BE TURNED DOWN ON ANY HELP ABOUT THIS FAILURE. I HAVE SPENT OVER A $1000 DOLLARS TO TRY LOCAL SHOPS AND STILL THIS FAILURE IS KILLING MY BUDGET. I DO HOPE TO RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL FROM MAZDA CORP. FOR MORE THAN A YEAR NOW WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO MAZDA ABOUT THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING NOISE AND THE HEAVY WHITE SMOKE FROM THE LEAKING TURBO. THESE COMPLAINTS WERE DONE UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MAZDA CHOSE TO IGNORE THE ISSUES AND BRUSH THEM OFF. THE CAR NEEDS REPAIRS DUE TO THIS MATTER. MAZDA NEEDS TO BE FORCED INTO A TOTAL RECALL TO REPAIR THESE MANY COMPLAINTS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE, MY 2006 MAZDA 6 MADE A LOUD NOISE LIKE GRINDING GEARS AND STALLED FOR A SECOND REVVED UP AND WENT INTO 3RD GEAR. THE CAR WENT FROM 65 MPH TO ALMOST A STOP AND THEN TO 20 MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. AFTER THAT, THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. RESEARCH SHOWED MANY OTHER 2006 MAZDA 6 OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. A MAZDA TSB WAS POSTED IN DECEMBER 2006, AND THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2006. MAZDA HAS NOT NOTIFIED ANY COSTUMERS OF THIS PROBLEM AND A TRANSMISSION GOING OUT AT 58K IS NOT TYPICAL. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE VALVE BODY SOLENOIDS. REPLACED THOSE FOR $800 AND STILL SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR. THEN PAID $3800 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT MIGHT DO THE SAME THING IN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. IF YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY, MAZDA DOES NOTHING FOR YOU. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS REAR END COLLISION HAZARD. *TR
