TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA MAZDASPEED6. THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND OCCASIONALLY IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND STATED THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS WITHIN THE ENGINE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. DURING THE CRASH, THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT SECURE THE DRIVER. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WAS DELAYED AND CAUSED THE DRIVER'S HEAD TO IMPACT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SEVERE LACERATIONS TO THE UPPER LIP, DAMAGED TEETH, AND FACIAL CONTUSIONS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
POTENTIAL REAR END COLLISION: I OWN A 2006 MAZDA 6 VIN [XXX]. I HAVE EXPERIENCED FREQUENT TIMES WHEN I HAVE ACCELERATED ONTO THE HIGHWAY (OR ANY OTHER NEED TO AVOID A COLLISION) AND HAVE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE LOSS OF POWER/ACCELERATION. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A REAR-END COLLISION HAD THE CARS BEHIND ME NOT REACTED IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND "MAZDA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" OF THIS PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE IS "OUT OF WARRANTY. I ALSO FOUND THAT MAZDA HAS ISSUED A TSB #05-016-06 THAT EXPLAINS THE POTENTIAL CAUSE. MAZDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. CAR-2006 MAZDA SPEED 6-MAZDA HIT A PICKUP---SLID SIDEWAYS INTO THE CENTER GUARDRAIL--REAR END THEN HIT THE SIDE GUARD RAIL---FRONT END THEN RAN INTO THE CENTER GUARD RAIL AND WAS LODGE IN CENTER GUARD RAIL. I WAS DRIVING ON NORTHBOUND 71 NEAR LOUISVILLE, KY WHEN A VEHICLE ENTERED THE FREEWAY AND CUT ME OFF. I AVOIDED A COLLISION WITH HIM BUT THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME HIT ME MULTIPLE TIMES IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, SPINNING ME ACROSS THE FREEWAY. ONE WAS A SIDE IMPACT HIT WHICH FORCED MY HEAD INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW, BREAKING IT. I HAD SIX AIRBAGS IN MY 2006 MAZDA 6 AND NONE OF THEM DEPLOYED. THE RATES OF SPEED BEING TRAVELED WERE AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS HARMED BUT NOT ENOUGH TO WARRANT A LAWSUIT ACCORDING TO LAWYERS, YET MY EQUIPMENT FAILED TO PROTECT ME IN MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS NOW TOTALED AS WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA MAZDASPEED6 . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE DECELERATING TO ATTEMPT A TURN, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSHIFTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

LOUD TICKING NOISE UNDER HOOD ON STARTUP. *TR
BRAKES HAVE FAILED 3 SEPARATE TIMES IN THIS 2006 MAZDA 6. FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING AND WENT THROUGH A STOP SIGN. I HAVE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. PUMPED THE BRAKE AND BRAKES CAME BACK ON. SECOND TIME, BACKING OUT OF GARAGE NO BRAKES. HAD PEDAL TO FLOOR AND HAD TO PUMP THEM BEFORE ALMOST HITTING NEIGHBORS GARAGE, LAST TIME PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND HAD NO BRAKES. HIT ANOTHER CAR WHICH STOPPED ME. EACH TIME I REPORTED THIS TO POLAR CHEVY/MAZDA. EACH TIME THEY HAD ME BRING IN THE CAR AND THEY LOOKED AT IT. EACH TIME THEY REPORTED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. EACH TIME THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE BACK BRAKE PADS REPLACED. THE LAST TIME THE BRAKES FAILED POLAR CHEVY/MAZDA CALLED A TECH AT MAZDA. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS DOING THIS BEFORE. I HAVE TOLD THEM NOW 3 TIMES AND AGAIN EACH TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT INTO BE LOOKED AT! *TR
THE MOUNTS AND THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTS KEEP BREAKING. THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER 5 TIMES AND IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. *TR
CAR WOULDN'T START SO WE WERE GOING TO HAVE IT JUMP STARTED. THE CABLES ON THE BATTERY WERE BURNT AND THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF BATTERY ACID ON OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS. NOW, I JUST RECENTLY NOTICED A FUNNY ODOR AND THE VINYL ON THE LEFT FRONT DOOR APPEARED TO BE MELTING AND THE BUTTONS WOULD NOT WORK THE WINDOWS. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHERE HE SHOWED ME THAT THE WIRING HARNESS AND SWITCH WAS COMPLETELY BURNED UP. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AND START A FIRE. UNFORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY SO I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE AND THERE PROBABLY NO WAY OF DETECTING THIS AHEAD OF TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN LETTING GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL, THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL ABNORMALLY HARD TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED AS WELL AS AN ADJUSTEMENT TO THE SUB-FRAME. BOTH FRONT STRUT HEADS WERE REPLACED AND AN ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE PULLED EXTREMELY HARD TO THE RIGHT AND THE CONTACT DID NOT WANT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 99,951.
I PURCHASED A 2006 MAZDA 6 ISPORT IN DEC 2005. SINCE PURCHASE I HAVE HAD AGGRESSIVE VIBRATIONS IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM EVERY 15,000-20,000 MILES. WHILE I AM A HIGH MILEAGE DRIVER, MOST DRIVING IS ON A HIGHWAY AND DOES NOT REQUIRES START-STOP BRAKING. IN ADDITION, I HAVE REPLACED MY BRAKE PADS WHEN TECH'S HAVE SUGGESTED. I HAVE MY ROTORS TURNED OUT BY THE MAZDA DEALERS 3 TIMES AND IN THE CURRENT SITUATION THE ROTOR CANNOT BE TURNED. THE DEALER AND THE MAZDA CORPORATE REFUSE TO LOOK INTO MY HISTORY OF THIS ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL DOZEN MAZDA FORUMS THAT DISCUSS THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE MAZDA 6. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT THE GOVERNMENT FOUND ISSUES WITH FORMER MAZDA VEHICLES SUCH AS THE TRIBUTE AND ITS FORD COUNTERPART. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM HOWEVER THE DEALERS, MAZDA'S LOCAL TECHNICIAN, AND THE CORPORATE TECH LINE WILL REFUSE TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER ANYMORE. *TR
THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING, BUT ORIGINALLY STARTED IN THE SUMMER OF 2008 (CAR HAD ROUGHLY ABOUT 42,000 OR SO MILES ON IT). INITIALLY THE CAR WOULD INCREASE THE RPM UP TO 7000R IN 5TH GEAR (GOING TO 6TH) AND THEN DECREASE CAUSING IT TO DO A HARD JERK (SOMEONE ELSE DESCRIBED IT AS BEING REAR ENDED AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT FEELS LIKE). I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD (WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY) AND THE SERVICE PERSON AND I WENT FOR A DRIVE (I WAS DRIVING) HE TOLD ME THAT HE DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING OFF ABOUT IT SO I WENT BACK HOME. FAST FORWARD TO 2013 (THE PROBLEM PERSISTED THROUGH THE ENTIRE TIME) WHEN I TOOK THE CAR THE ARLINGTON MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THIS IS WHERE THEY DID A TEST DRIVE ON IT AND CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION IS GOING BAD (THE CAR HAD ABOUT 49,604 OR SO MILES ON IT). TO DATE, THE VEHICLE (WHICH NOW HAS 58,360 MILES ON IT) HAS TROUBLE PICKING UP SPEED IS EXTREMELY LAGGY AND IN 5TH TO 6TH GEAR WILL PULL A HARD JERK BEFORE IT CATCHES UP WITH ITSELF. I AGREE WITH THE OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. MAZDA NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THERE'S CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER ALL, IF ANOTHER VEHICLE IS FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY BEHIND THE VEHICLE(S) HAVING THIS ISSUE THEY ARE GOING TO UNDOUBTEDLY BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS COLLISION AND THERE PROBABLY WILL BE A FATALITY. PLEASE NOTE: I INCLUDED THE MILEAGE THE CAR HAS SO THAT THOSE CONSIDERING PURCHASING THIS CAR WILL KNOW THEY MAY NOT HAVE LONG TO ENJOY IT BEFORE THEY HAVE A REALLY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM ON THEIR HANDS. *TR
RIGHT REAR BLOWOUT DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE BLOWOUT WAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE AND I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING. I JUST HEARD A LOUD POP! THE TIRE SIZE IS P205/60R16 . THIS IS ON MY 2006 MAZDA WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES. THE TREAD IS EXCELLENT. I HAVE READ OF HUNDRED OF CASES WHERE MICHELIN TIRES ARE BLOWING OUT ON NEWER CARS. WHAT THE STORY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 68 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE LANDED IN A DITCH. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANS-AXLE SLIPPAGE WAS DUE TO POOR DESIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CLUTCH WOULD SHIFT AUTOMATICALLY INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE REVVED. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE GEAR WOULD FORCEFULLY SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE OFTEN WHILE ON INCLINES OR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOURTH, FIFTH, OR SIXTH GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
MAZDA'S BLUEPRINT FOR DISASTER: BATTERY LOCATION, BATTERY QUALITY. OVERHEATED , LOW QUALITY BATTERY SPEWING ACID ON CRITICAL ENGINE COMPONENTS, CORRODED WIRING, STEERING, SENSORS TRANSMISSION, OTHER PARTS BEYOND REPAIR. WASHED WITH WATER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS AN EDDIE BAUER ALPHA OMEGA ELITE 22-755 CHILD SEAT. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RELEASE THE CHILD FROM THE CHILD SEAT, THE RED BUTTON WAS STUCK. IT TOOK THE CONTACT 20 MINUTES TO RELEASE THE BUTTON. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE TYPE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 12/18/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA SPEED 6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MISFIRE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND ALLOWED IT TO REST. AFTERWARDS, IT APPEARED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED AND THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, FOLLOWED BY SMOKE. HE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED A TRAIL OF OIL. HE OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY COVERED IN OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND CONTINUED TO LEAK. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED A LARGE HOLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE DEALER WAS SUPPOSED TO DO A TEARDOWN OF THE MOTOR, BUT THEY REFUSED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STILL AT THE DEALER AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 51,000.
NEITHER SIDE OR FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN ACCIDENT. THIS CAR WAS REAR ENDED AT 45 MPH AND THEN PUSHED INTO A GUARD RAIL, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE CAR. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE ACCELERATING OR MAKING A TURN AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND MAKE A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE REAR. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,912 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
MY HUSBAND WAS MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN AND DIDN'T SEE ANY ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SMASHED INTO HIM MAKING THE CAR SPIN 180 DEGREES. THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG WENT OFF INSTANTLY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY UNTIL AFTER THE CAR HAD STOPPED SPINNING. *AK
2006 MAZDASPEED6 REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING BOLTS SHEARED OFF. CRACKED REAR DIFFERENTIALS FRONT CASE AS WELL. TOOK TO THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY, THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT. CAUSING THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CASE TO CRACK UNDER THE TENSION OF DRIVING IT. THEY THEN DECIDED TO LOOK AT IT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER AND THE HEADLIGHTS HOWEVER THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVE-ABLE. THE DEALER HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND GOING DOWN THE EXIT RAMP WHEN MY CLUTCH WENT OUT ON THE CAR. IT IS 2 YEARS OLD WITH 17000 MILES ON IT. IT IS A 2006 MAZDA MAZDASPEED6. I CURRENTLY OWN A MAZDA 6 (2006) WHICH I ACQUIRE O MARCH 13, 2007. SINCE FEBRUARY 15, 2007 MY CAR STARTED TO STALLS AND SHUT OFF. I HAD TAKEN MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER (MAZDA JIM CLICK) FOR REPAIRS SINCE THE PROBLEM ARISE. WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I ALSO PAID FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLATINUM (PAS). THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS FOR 72 MONTHS OR 100,000 MILES WHICH EVER OCCURRED FIRST WHICH INCLUDE ANY MECHANICAL OR ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR REPAIRS FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THEY HAD EXCHANGES PARTS OFF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE APPARENTLY THAT WAS THE ISSUE BUT UP TO THIS MOMENT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. BACK IN JUNE 6, 2006 I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 39 DAYS; MY CAR WAS RETURN TO ME ON JULY 15, 2008 AND APPARENTLY AGAIN THE CAR WAS FIXED. SINCE THAT DATE THE DEALER IS STILL TRYING TO LOCATE WHAT IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. NOW THE DEALER DECIDES TO EXCHANGE THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE DEALER TOWED BY VEHICLE BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON AUGUST 4, 2008; I INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER THAT I WILL BE CONTACTING THE BBB FOR THIS ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 5, WITH PIRELLI PZERO CORSO 225/45/ZR17 TIRES . WHILE DRIVING HER TIRES WENT FLAT WITHOUT WARNING. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION SHE NOTICED THAT THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED. THE TIRES WERE WORN FROM THE INSIDE TO THE OUTSIDE. EVERY 6 MONTHS SHE HAD TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES . THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85000. UPDATED 1/5/10 *CN 6 MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING. CAR LOSES POWER ON ACCELERATION WHEN COLD. IT BUCKS AND KICKS BACK WHEN THROTTLE IS DEPRESSED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTERWARDS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED MOMENTARILY, AND THE ENGINE WAS EASILY RESTARTED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH DID NOT PRODUCE ANY FAILURE CODES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
OUR 2006 MAZDA 6 GT WAS TOTALED IN A WRECK IN WHICH IT FLIPPED 4 OR MORE TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN INTO THE MEDIAN. THE SPEED AT THE TIME ACCIDENT OCCURRED WAS 70 MPH. NOT ONE OF THE 6 EQUIPPED AIR BAGS WAS DEPLOYED. I CONTACTED MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT APPARENTLY NONE OF THE SENSORS WERE TRIPPED AND THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT NOT ONE OF 6 WOULD TRIP IN AN ACCIDENT THAT VIOLENT. MY INSURANCE ALSO DIDN'T SEEM TO THINK IT WAS AN ISSUE. THIS IS PROBLEM BECAUSE MOST OF US BELIEVE THAT OUR AIR BAGS WILL PROTECT US IN MOST ANY WRECK, ESPECIALLY ONE IN WHICH YOU ARE FLIPPING ON PAVEMENT. 2000 MAZDA 626 - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 52K MILES 1) NO REVERSE - ONE TIME INCIDENT IN MAY, MOVED IT FORWARDED AND RAN THROUGH THE OTHER GEARS AND THEN IT WENT INTO REVERSE... SO DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. IN LATE SEPTEMBER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FREQUENCY INCREASED OVER NEXT MONTH. NO PATTERN... HOT, COLD, DRY, WET, ETC. 2) I NOW HAVE NO REVERSE MOST OF THE TIME, THOUGH STILL INTERMITTENT 3) TOOK TO AAMCO... IT'S NOT ELECTRICAL, NEEDS TOTAL OVERHAUL FOR $2K 6 YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 52K MILES, NOT DRIVEN HARD... SHOULDN'T HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ONE SIGNIFICANT EVENT THAT HAS LEAD UP TO THE ISSUES I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH TIME OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. IT STARTED WITH A MINOR STUTTER BACK IN LATE JULY/EARLY AUGUST. IT WORSENED A FEW DAYS AFTER THE COMPUTER WAS REFLASHED FOR THE RECALL IN EARLY SEPTEMBER. I'M NOT SURE IF THAT WAS A CATALYST TO THIS PROBLEM OR NOT SINCE IT WAS STUTTERING BEFORE A LITTLE BIT ALSO. BY LATE SEPTEMBER THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE WORSENING. BY MID-OCTOBER IT WAS STUTTERING CONSTANTLY WHEN DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM WORSENED WITH COOL WEATHER WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. ON NIGHTS BELOW ABOUT 30 DEGREES, THE CAR STUTTERS AND BUCKS SEVERELY FOR THE FIRST FEW MINUTES UNTIL THE ENGINE IS WARMED UP. ACCELERATION IS SOMETIMES UNPREDICTABLE DURING THIS TIME. SO FAR, MAZDA HAS REPLACED THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND UPDATED THE ECU TO THE LATEST AVAILABLE AS OF NOVEMBER. SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED PRIOR TO THIS PER MY REQUEST. NOTHING SEEMS TO MAKE AN IMPACT. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT THIS PROBLEM (COLD START) SEEMS TO WORSEN ON ROUGH/UNEVEN ROADS. GAS TYPE (93 OR 94 AND NAME BRAND) SEEMS TO MAKE NO NOTICEABLE IMPACT. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE IDLING, A HIGH PITCH NOISE CAME FROM THE ENGINE. THE NOISE WAS ALSO PRESENT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS DURING NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE NOISE CAME FROM THE BELT TENSIONER AND REPLACED IT. THE NOISE PERSISTED AND AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE WATER PUMP WAS THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE AND REPLACED THE PUMP HOUSING GASKET. NONE OF THE REPAIRS PERFORMED ELIMINATED THE NOISE AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. CUSTOMER SERVICE COLLECTED THE INFORMATION BUT NO SOLUTION WAS PROVIDED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT THE INABILITY OF THE MECHANICS TO PRODUCE A SOLUTION IN VEHICLE PURCHASED BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 1323 MILES.

I LEASED MY FULLY LOADED 2006 MAZDA A6 BACK IN DECEMBER OF 2005. EVER SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE CAR. FIRST, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS NOT GOING DOWN. A FEW DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, I REALIZED THAT THE TURBO KEPT GIVING OUT ON ME. THEN I CAME ACROSS A HUGE DILEMMA, WHERE THE LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL, DRIVE SHAFT, AND ALL THE BOLTS AND HINGES HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF A BOLT WHICH WAS NOT TORQUE ENOUGH. THEN, THE BRAKES KEPT MAKING AN ANNOYING NOISE EVEN WITHOUT THE BRAKES APPLIED AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TIRES WEAR AND TEAR WAS HORRIBLE AT 6,000 MILES, TO THE POINT WHERE I SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THEM, AND MAZDA DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. LATER I FOUND OUT THAT THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRE WAS TOO LOW. AFTER THAT, THE KEYLESS ENTRY/KEYLESS START REMOTE STOPPED WORKING, AND HAD TO OPEN THE CAR MANUALLY, WHICH GOT FIXED AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS, AND JUST REPLACED THE WHOLE THING. NOW, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR AXLE, AND HOW IT HAS TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE WHEN THE LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEM CAME ACROSS, THEY NEGLECTED TO LOOK OR FIX THE AXLE FROM THE START. NOW THEY HAVE THE COURAGE TO TELL ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE AXLE, AND RENT A CAR, AND ALL THE EXPENSES, BECAUSE THEY WERE NEGLIGENT OF LOOKING AT IT FROM THE START. THEY ARE BLAMING THE AXLE ISSUE ON THE TIRES, WHEN THEY WERE BAD TO START WITH AND THE TIRES THAT WERE GOING BAD WERE THE FRONT ONES, NOT THE REAR. *JB
2006 MADZA 6 WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A MONTH AND THE CAR IS STILL IN DISREPAIR**NAR**CC THE CONSUMER STATED A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A GRINDING METAL SOUND. THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE LOOKED UNDER IT AND NOTICED FLUID WAS SPILLING OUT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 2 WEEKS THE DEALER STATED THE REPAIR WORK WAS FINISHED, HOWEVER 3 DAYS LATER, THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO HEAR THE SAME METAL SOUND AS BEFORE ONLY THIS TIME, THE CONSUMER HAD NO GEARS AND NO CLUTCH. THE CONSUMER THEN RECEIVED A CALL FROM HE DEALERSHIP STATING THE VEHICLE HAD BLOWN A ROD AND THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND NOT THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD HE WOULD NEED TO PROVIDE RECEIPTS OF OIL CHANGES OR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE FIXED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH IN SIXTH GEAR, THE VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTS INTO THIRD GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY REPLACED THE VALVE BODY AND FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE WAS TEMPORARILY SOLVED FOR A FEW MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY STATED THAT IF THE DEALER COULD NOT PERMANENTLY CORRECT THE FAILURE, THEY WOULD REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,228.
MY NEW 2006 MAZDA 6 SEDAN THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER 30 MILES AWAY FROM S.F.. RIGHT AFTER DRIVEN HOME, IT HAD THE SEVERE OVERHEATING SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. SUCH OVERHEATING SMELL OCCURRED EVEN WHEN MOVING THE CAR TO THE CURB. DEALER SAID IT WAS NEW CARS BURNING OFF SMELL. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER: CHANGED THE ENGINE COOLING THERMOSTAT, THE RADIATOR CAP, COOLANT RESERVOIR TANK AND RE-FLASHED THE POWERTRAIN. WAS TOLD THAT RESIDUAL SMELL WILL LINGER FOR A COUPLE WEEKS. THE OVERHEATING SMELL PERSISTS INSIDE THE CAR WHEN THE AIR VENT IS SET AT COLD OUTSIDE AIR. USUALLY SMELL STARTS IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER A MILE OF ORDINARY CITY DRIVE AT 25 MPH TO 35 MPH ON FLAT ROAD. IT GETS STRONGER AND SOMETIMES HOT AIR BLOWS IN WHEN THE DAY IS WARM (AROUND 68F TO ABOVE 70F). IF CAR IS PARKED FOR HOURS IN AN OPEN SPACE AFTER SEVERAL MILES DRIVE, HOT AIR AND SMELL BLOWS IMMEDIATELY AT START AND STAY ON. ON FREEWAY THE SMELL IS LESS STRONG BUT BECOMES VERY BAD WHEN EXIT TO A STOP SIGN. DURING THE COOLER DAYS OF 50F TO 65F, THE ONSET OF THE OVERHEATING SMELL IS DELAY. THERE IS NO SUCH SMELL IN THE VENT AIR WHEN SET FOR ''WARM'' AIR AT NIGHT OR AT ''AIR CONDITION'' TO CHECK IF SMELL IS FROM AIR DUCT. NOW THE CAR HAS 3000 MILES ON IT AND THE SMELL PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. A FEW TIMES I HAVE HEADACHE AFTER DRIVING WITH THE SMELL. FOR THIS PROBLEM I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOUR TIMES BETWEEN BOTH DEALERS AND CALLED THE MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER TWO TIMES. EACH TIME THEY DID A PRESSURE LEAK TEST AND TOLD ME THE CAR IS OK WITHIN MANUFACTURER''S SPECS. THEY ALL CLAIMED THAT THERE IS NO SUCH SMELL IN THE DRIVING CONDITIONS AS I DESCRIBED. NOTHING IS DONE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. LAST MONTH FOUND OIL STAIN UNDER CAR AND SOME RADIATOR HOSES TURN WHITE WITH POWDER. LAST WEEK THE LOCAL DEALER CHANGED THE LEAKING STRUT AND THE SLIGHTLY LEAKING OVERFLOW TUBE TO THE COOLANT RESERVOIR TANK. IT ALSO SAID COLOR CHANGE OF RADIATOR HOSE INTO ENGINE IS NORMAL. *JB
ENGINE POWER DECREASES SUBSTANTIALLY GOING UPHILL WHEN YOU PUSH ACCELERATOR. EVEN AFTER THE RECALL ITEM WAS FIXED (REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER), IT STILL DOES IT, ESPECIALLY ON OTHER THEN 93 OCTANE GAS WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE. WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, HAD A FEW CLOSE CALLS WITH ACCIDENTS. *JB
I WAS DRIVING A HERTZ RENTED MAZDA 6 2006 WITH APPROXIMATELY 1,100 MILES ON IT. WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE CAR SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AND HIT A TRUCK AND SWERVED BACK TO THE LEFT AND HIT A MEDIAN. ON SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE STEERING LINKAGES WERE FAULTY AND HAD FAILED. THE POLICE HAVE RECORDED THE INCIDENT AS MECHANICAL FAILURE. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED DUE TO IMPACT, THE SIDE AIR BAG HAD RELEASED AND THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL HAD COMPLETELY COME OFF (THE LAST MENTIONED BEING THE CAUSE OF THE ABOVE ACCIDENT). THE RENTAL COMPANY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INVESTIGATING THE ACCIDENT, SO FAR I HAVE NOT GOT ANY INFORMATION BACK. *JB
A POTENTIALLY HARMFUL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE POWER WINDOW FUNCTION. I NOTICED THAT IF MOMENTARY CONTACT OF THE WINDOW CLOSE SWITCHES WERE MADE (OF A LONG ENOUGH DURATION) THE WINDOWS WOULD CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY. IF THE OPERATOR WERE TO DISCOVER THAT THE WRONG WINDOW WAS BEING CLOSED .....SIMPLY LETTING UP ON THE SWITCH WOULD NOT STOP THE POWER WINDOW FUNCTION. THE WINDOW WOULD CONTINUE TO RAISE,EVEN IF SOMEONE'S ARM OR EXTREMITY WAS IN THE WINDOW. IF A PERSON WERE TO MAKE SUCH AN ERROR OF SELECTING THE WRONG WINDOW WITH NORMAL POWER WINDOWS.....SIMPLY LETTING UP ON THE SWITCHES STOPS THE OPERATION. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WITH THE 2006 MAZDA 6 THAT I LEASED. I DID NOT TEST THE FORCE THAT THE WINDOW WAS CAPABLE OF EXERTING BEFORE STOPPING ON ITS OWN. I IMAGINE ON A SMALL CHILD THAT IT WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH FORCE TO BE HARMFUL OR FATAL. *JB
