SUSPENSION SUBFRAME RUSTED AND CRACKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MAZDA MPV. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 15 MPH, SHE STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SEND DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 166,000.
FRONT CROSS MEMBER CORROSION; FRAME DAMAGED; CAR DANGEROUSLY UNSTABLE. WHEEL ALIGNMENT COST ME $72.64 AND FRAME REPAIR COST $693.36. THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR 4 DAYS. MENTAL ANGUISH. MAZDA DEALER DECLINED REPAIRS. MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE DECLINED TO PAY. NOW THEY ARE ADMITTING THAT PROBLEM ON MAZDA 6 VEHICLES. IT'S AN OLD PROBLEM PROBABLY RELATED TO METALLURGY OR IMPROPER PAINT PROTECTION.
I WENT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET MY SAFETY RECALLS DONE AT THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP ON TORRANCE BUT THEY SAID I NEEDED TO FILL OUT A FORM AND TO WAIT FOR THEM TO RECEIVE THE AUTO PARTS. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 6 MONTHS SINCE I WENT, I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE AT ALL.

AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED MAZDA OFFER TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PART AND ACCOMMODATE FOR TRANSPORTATION WHILE THE CAR IS BEING REPAIR. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT TO HAVE THIS ACCOMMODATIONS IS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO DELIVER SUCH OFFER TO FIX THE INCONVENIENCES THAT THIS BRINGS. I CALLED TO MAKE THE ARRANGEMENTS BUT NOW MAZDA REFUSES TO GIVE ANOTHER TRANSPORTATION WHILE FIXING THE CAR, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS INCLUDED IN THEIR WRITTEN OFFER.
THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUSTMENT THE ALIGNMENT OF THE REAR WHEELS ON THIS YEAR MAZDA MPV, THUS THE TIRES WARE OUT EARLY BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IN ALIGNMENT. TIRE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY MAZDA DEALER SAYS NO ADJUSTMENT CAN BE DONE AS MAZDA DID NOT PROVIDE A WAY TO CORRECT THIS ALIGNMENT PROBLEM SO EARLY TIRE FAILURE CAN RESULT. MAZDA DEALER WORK SHEET FOR ALIGNMENT STATES THAT THE REAR WHEELS ARE OUT OF FACTORY SPECIFICATION AND IF NOT CORRECTED CAN LEAD TO EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR, HANDLING AND SAFETY ISSUES. MAZDA BY THERE OWN ADMISSION DID NOT PROVIDED ANY WAY TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. ACCELERATOR (GAS PEDAL) STOCK OPEN WHEN PEDAL PRESSED FOR ACCELERATION ONTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO VERY HIGH SPEED. PRESSING BRAKE SLOWED VEHICLE TO 55 MPH. SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, HEARD A LOW POP AND ACCELERATOR MECHANISM DISENGAGED.

WHY DOES RECALL ONLY COVER THE PASSENGERS SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR? WHAT COMPANY MANUFACTURED THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR? I WOULD LIKE THE DRIVERS SIDE REPLACED ALSO. I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MAZDA WILL NOT COVER REPLACEMENT OF DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR. I ASKED PARTS DEPARTMENT IF I COULD PURCHASE DRIVERS SIDE INFLATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG WAS DISCONTINUED AND THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MAZDA MPV. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE CONTACTS INSTRUMENT PANEL. BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. RK
I WAS ON I-75 WHEN I ACCELERATED HARD WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO A GAP IN HEAVY, MERGING TRAFFIC. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR MY VAN CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AS THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT A HIGH RPM. I STABBED AT THE ACCELERATOR WITH MY FOOT TO SEE IF I COULD UNSTICK IT, BUT IT ONLY CAUSED THE ENGINE TO REV EVEN HIGHER - TO FULL-THROTTLE. I JABBED AT IT MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO AVAIL. I TRIED TO LIFT THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY FOOT BY JAMMING IT UNDERNEATH THE PEDAL AND PULLING IT UP, BUT IT FLOATED FREELY AND CONTINUED TO FALL BACK TO ITS FULL-THROTTLE POSITION. ALTHOUGH I WAS CONFIDENT THAT THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM I PULLED IT AWAY FROM THE PEDALS AND, AS EXPECTED, THERE WAS NO EFFECT. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF MY VAN BY APPLYING EXTREMELY HEAVY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE WHILE SHIFTING BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND DRIVE. DURING THAT TIME I WAS STILL JABBING AND LIFTING THE ACCELERATOR WITH MY RIGHT FOOT TRYING TO 'UNSTICK' THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ENTERING AND CROSSING AND OVERPASS THAT WAS UNDERGOING CONSTRUCTION. CONCRETE BARRIERS LINED BOTH SIDES OF THE HIGHWAY AND BRIDGE WHERE THE EMERGENCY LANES WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN LOCATED. I HAD TO MAINTAIN SOME SPEED, FOR FEAR OF BEING REAR-ENDED, WHILE SEARCHING FOR THE FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO PULL OVER. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY ASCERTAIN THAT THE SCREWING MECHANISM FROM AN UNSECURED AIR HOSE CLAMP HAD SNAGGED THE THROTTLE ARM - THE CLAMP ATTACHES THE HOSE TO THE ENGINE. AS I PUSHED HARDER ON THE GAS PEDAL IT FURTHER EXACERBATED THE PROBLEM BY LOCKING THE ARM IN A MORE WIDE-OPEN THROTTLE POSITION. THE CLAMP HAD BEEN LEFT UNSECURED FROM PREVIOUS WORK DONE AT A MAZDA DEALERSHIP. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THIS COULD HAVE ALSO OCCURRED IF THE CLAMP HAD BEEN SECURED, BUT NOT POSITIONED OUT OF THE WAY OF THE ARM. *TR
2004 MAZDA MINI VAN THE IGNITION COILS ARE CONTINUALLY HAVING TO BE REPLACED-I AM ON THE 4TH TIME HAVING ONE OF THEM REPLACED OVER THE PASS 4 YEARS. *TR
MY RADIATOR FAN CONSTANTLY RUNS INTERMITTENTLY BUT WITH INCREASING LENGTHS OF TIME, REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER (HOT, COLD.) THE ENGINE DOES NOT OVERHEAT. BUT THE LIGHTS DIM AT NIGHT WHEN THE FAN KICKS IN AND CREATES A LOUD HUMMING SOUND THAT IS BECOMING MORE IRRITATING. I READ ON THE WEB THAT MANY EARLIER MODELS OF THE MAZDA HAD A RECALL FOR THE FAN CONTROL MODULE UP TO 2003. MY VEHICLE IS NOT IN THE RECALL, BUT I NOTICED A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE WEB HAVE MODELS AFTER THE RECALL PERIOD AND WE ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALLED MODULES. ENGINE COIL ISSUE. ROUGH IDLE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. *TR
AT APPROX. 50,000 MILES MY 2004 MAZDA MPV'S 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' WENT ON. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE I WAS TOLD AN IGNITION COIL HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT APPROX. 60,000 MILES, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ... THE CAR'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ' CAME ON AND, AGAIN, AN IGNITION COIL HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED FROM WEB POSTINGS THAT THIS IGNITION COIL PROBLEM MAY BE A FAIRLY COMMON REPAIR ON 2004 MAZDA MINI-VANS AND I'M WONDERING IF THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED THROUGH A RECALL AND REPAIR BY MAZDA. WERE I ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON ... THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION CAPACITY AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ... I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT THIS IGNITION COIL PROBLEM MAY CONTINUE TO RE-OCCUR IN THE FUTURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MAZDA MPV. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED. THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND BEFORE STALLING. THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WERE ENGAGED BUT TO NO AVAIL. AFTER TEN MINUTES, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,400.
2004 MAZDA MPV. CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING SPEEDS OF 70 MPH THE VEHICLE JUST LOST ALL ACCELERATION DROPPING TO BELOW 5 MPH. SHE ALSO STATES THAT THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF. *KB THE MECHANICS WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *JB
IGNITION COILS RETAIN MOISTURE AND CAUSE CYLINDERS TO MISFIRE. THIS CAUSES VEHICLES TO STALL OR LOSE POWER -- USUALLY WHEN RAINING. IN OUR CASE, THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY ON THE INTERSTATE DURING RAIN. WE EARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENTS BY OUR INABILITY TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC WITH OUR SUDDENLY-SLOWED VEHICLE. REPLACEMENT OF A SINGLE COILS COST US OVER $200. THERE ARE SIX IGNITION COILS (OVER $1000). MANY INTERNET FORUMS INDICATE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC IN THIS MAKE/MODEL. WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE MANUFACTURER REDESIGNED THE COIL FOR SUBSEQUENT MODELS. THEY OBVIOUSLY RECOGNIZED THE FLAW.

2004 MAZDA MPV ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO ENGINE COILS, ONE WENT OUT IN MAY DRIVING IN THE RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER WENT OUT TWO MONTHS LATER ALSO IN THE RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALER SAID IT IS COMMON. WELL THEN THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS ABOUT 50K MILES ON IT. *TR
MY 2004 MAZDA MPV SUFFERED THE SAME PROBLEM AS MANY OTHER CONSUMERS. ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE COILS AND PLUGS ON MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND INVOLVED ONE OF THE REAR COILS BUT THE SAID I SHOULD REPLACE ALL THREE REAR COILS. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED TWO MONTHS LATER TO THE FRONT COIL AND I REPLACED ALL OF THOSE - TOTAL COST $900. I COMPLAINED TO MAZDA BUT THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND OWNERS COMPENSATED. *TR
MAZDA MPV 2004 VEHICLE'S ENGINE HESITATED WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN AT ANY SPEED. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING BEFORE MILEAGE AND DATE LISTED BELOW. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN PARTICULARLY WHEN IT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE WASHINGTON METRO BELTWAY. AN ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER AT, ROSENTHAL MAZDA ARLINGTON, 750 N. GLEBE ROAD, ARLINGTON, VA. ( 703/527-3000) ADVISED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS KNOWN TO MAZDA FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS AND REQUIRED AIR INDUCTION SERVICE EVERY 12,000-15,000 MILES. WE NEVER WERE WARNED OF THIS PROBLEM OR THE NEED FOR THE SPECIFIC PREVENTABLE MAINTENANCE BY EITHER THE COMPANY OR ROSENTHAL MAZDA. THE REPAIR COST $2000 AND COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF MAZDA HAD ADVISED OWNERS OF THE NEED FOR PREVENTABLE MAINTENANCE (AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD). I REPEAT THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BE DISTRACTED AND THE CAR TO ACCELERATE POORLY, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS HESITATING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC. PLEASE CONTACT MAZDA AND INVESTIGATE AND REQUIRE THEM TO SEND WARNINGS AND REIMBURSE THOSE WHO SUFFERED MONETARY DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THEIR LACK OF WARNING. *TR

2004 MAZDA MPV WITH 63K MILES. HAS BROKEN DOWN 5 TIMES WITH SAME PROBLEM AFFECTING ONE OF TWO DIFFERENT COILS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. VAN HESITATES/SHAKES. NO LOSS OF LIFE, BUT PLENTY OF LOST WAGES ETC AND MAZDA REP NOT COOPERATIVE. $400 AND AVERAGE 3 DAYS IN SHOP EACH TIME TO REPAIR. MECHANIC GUESSED PROBLEM BEFORE I EVEN TOLD HIM. STATES THAT THEY SEE THIS ALL THE TIME WITH THE MPV'S. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MAZDA MPV. WHENEVER THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ACTIVATED, THE FAN THAT BLOWS THE AIR IS VERY LOUD AND CONTINUES TO RUN 3-5 MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAN MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 79,600.
LIKE MANY OTHER MAZDA MPV OWNERS, I'VE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION COILS. IN AUGUST 2008, THE VEHICLE WAS RIDING VERY ROUGH AND HESITATING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DIAGNOSTICS FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED THAT ONE OF THE IGNITION COILS HAD MISFIRED. I HAD THE COIL REPLACED AND, AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE DEALERSHIP, REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS. AT THAT TIME, MY VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 35,000 MILES ON IT, WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I PAID $476 FOR THE REPAIR BUT WAS ULTIMATELY REIMBURSED BY MAZDA ON A CUSTOMER GOODWILL BASIS. ONE YEAR LATER, IN AUGUST 2009, THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN RIDING ROUGH AND HESITATING. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. BASED ON THE EARLIER EXPERIENCE, I SUSPECTED AN IGNITION COIL AS THE CULPRIT. MY SUSPICIONS WERE REALIZED. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT CYLINDER #5 HAD MISFIRED AND THAT SEVERAL OTHER COILS WERE WEAK. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE OTHER COILS WERE LIKELY TO GO AND RECOMMENDED THAT ALL OF THEM BE REPLACED. I HAD THE WORK DONE AT A COST OF $960. THE VEHICLE AT THIS POINT HAD ONLY 46,000 MILES ON IT. BOTH REPAIRING DEALERSHIPS MENTIONED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MPVS. FROM MY RESEARCH, I CAN SEE THAT IS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM FOR 2002-2006 MPV'S. ENTIRE MESSAGE BOARDS ARE DEDICATED TO THIS MAZDA MPV IGNITION COIL DEFECT. MOST BELIEVE THAT THERE'S A DESIGN FLAW THAT PREVENTS THE COILS FROM DISPERSING MOISTURE PROPERLY, WHICH OVER TIME LEADS THE CYLINDERS TO MISFIRE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT MAZDA SHOULD HAVE VOLUNTARILY RECALLED THE VEHICLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. HAVING PREVIOUSLY MADE A CUSTOMER ACCOMMODATION ON THE EARLIER REPAIR, MAZDA HAS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COSTS OF THIS LATEST REPAIR. IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT MAZDA HAS CHOSEN TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM ON A CUSTOMER-BY-CUSTOMER BASIS, RATHER THAN HAVING VOLUNTARILY RECALLED THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO ADDRESS THIS VERY COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS BROKE OFF DURING USE ON HIGHWAY AND HEAVY RAINS. UPON LATER INSPECTION, THE CAST METAL PART OF BOTH ARMS WERE CRACKED NEAR THE HINGE POINT. THE DRIVERS SIDE ARM BROKE OFF AND WAS CAUGHT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER BLADE FOR A FEW SECONDS CAUSING IT TO SMACK AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD AND CRACKING IT. MAZDA REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE IN DETERMINING IF THE PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE OR IN OBTAINING REPLACEMENT PARTS. REPLACEMENTS WERE PURCHASED FROM THE ORIGINAL DEALER. *TR
MAZDA 2004 MPV WITH JUST UNDER 68,000 MILES HAS 3 FUEL INJECTORS(CEL) REPLACED BY LOCAL MECHANIC- 2 WEEKS LATER JERKY MISFIRES WITH CEL REQUIRED #5 COIL REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP, LESS THAN A MONTH LATER #4 COIL REPLACED BY LOCAL MECHANIC IN TOWN WE WERE VACATIONING IN-NO CEL, NOW SAME JERKY MISFIRES STARTING AGAIN A MONTH AFTER LAST REPLACEMENT. WITH OUR MAZDA 2004 MPV, WE HAVE HAD FOUR SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN 2 1/4 YEARS FROM MAR 2008 THROUGH JUNE 2010 WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON TO INDICATE AN ENGINE PROBLEM. IN EACH INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE RUNS VERY ROUGH AND VERY SLOW. EACH INCIDENT RESULTED IN US TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE SOME OR ALL OF THE IGNITION COILS WERE REPLACED. FOR SOME OF THE INCIDENTS, THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT IN EACH INCIDENT ALL OR SOME OF THE COSTS WERE COVERED BY MAZDA. IN 2 OF THE INCIDENTS, WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND IT WAS DARK. IN ANOTHER INCIDENT, WE WERE LEAVING TOWN, AND THE OTHER, WE WERE IN TOWN. NOW, WE WILL NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWN FOR FEAR OF COMPLETELY BREAKING DOWN AT NIGHT OR IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT MOISTURE ENTERS THE ENGINE AND FOULS THE CYLINDER WHEN IT RAINS. 2004 MAZDA MPV: I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL 6 IGNITION COILS IN MY VAN - THE VAN WOULD SHAKE AND SEEM TO BE STALLING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. THIS STARTED IN JULY 2007 AND CONTINUED SO FAR THROUGH JAN 2010 (WHEN 4 COILS AND ALL MY SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT ONCE !). WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LEVER IS MOVED TO D FOR DRIVE, THE THE AIR CONDITIONIN (A/C ) ON/OFF SWICTH IS HIDDEN BEHIND THE LEVER NO MATTER HOW WHAT THE DRIVER SEAT SETTINGS MAY BE. TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR REPLACED ALSO 12/05/06 '' 33,229MI - #4 COIL REPLACED AGAIN 1/08/07 '' 34,708MI - #6 COIL REPLACED. TODAY AS I WAS DRIVING, THE SAME SYMPTOMS '' STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION, BUCKING, LURCHING '' OCCURRED AS BEFORE WHEN THE OTHER COILS FAILED. THE CEL CAME ON, I CHECKED FOR THE CODE AND I DISCOVERED THAT THE #5 COIL HAS FAILED. NOW THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH SERVICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE BLADDER SEPARATED IN THE FUEL TANK AND WAS GETTING INTO THE FUEL PUMP. THE GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
2004 MAZDA MPV - TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND ENGINE COIL FAILURES. TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFT SHOCK, WHERE THE VEHICLE SLAMS INTO THE NEXT GEAR AT 20 MPH. THE SHOCK SENDS THE VEHICLE DANGEROUSLY FORWARD. MAZDA HAD TWO SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS DEFECT WHICH INCLUDED REPLACING SENSORS AND SWITCHES. MAZDA ALSO SUPPLIED A DIAGRAM TO INSTRUCT DRIVERS TO "WIGGLE" THE GEAR SELECTOR BETWEEN GEARS. NONE OF THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEMS. ENGINE COILS WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES AT 24,000 MILES, 32,000 MILES, AND 35,000 MILES. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING CORRECTLY WHILE DRIVING. *NM
