DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SEAT WARMER OF THE VEHICLE STAYS ON AND GET TOO HOT. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS THAT THIS COULD BECOME A FIRE HAZARD. UPDATED 7/11/2006- THE SET BECOMES SO HOT THAT IT'S UNBEARABLE. THERE IS ONLY ONE TEMPERATURE, NO TEMPERATURE SELECTION. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH, THE ANTI-SKID AND CHECK ENGINE LAMPS ILLUMINATED. AFTER THE LAMPS ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE SPEED DECREASED FROM 70MPH TO 15MPH WITHIN 8 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OFF THE ROAD, WERE THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITH EASE, BUT THE ENGINE STILL REVVED HIGH AND THE LAMPS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE. THE DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL SUGGESTED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE DEALERSHIP WERE ADDITIONAL TESTING IS UNDERWAY.
THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES AND NOW ISN'T STARTING AGAIN WAS TOWED AGAIN TODAY. *JB
JUST STOPPED IN A PARKING SPOT. TEMPERATURE WAS APROX 47 DEGREES. VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY JUMPING THE CURB AND CRASHING THROUGH A CONCRETE GARBAGE CAN. APROX DAMAGE $6000 LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF THE CAR. *NM
FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED BY DEALER DUE TO DEFECTIVE FRONT BRAKES. BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED AND VEHICLE IS NOW EXPERIENCING SAME BRAKE PROBLEMS. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA RX-8. WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE PEDAL IN PLACE BROKE AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 102000.
DT: THE CONSUMER PURCHASED A NEW MAZDA RX8. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED WHAT THE CONSUMER SUSPECTED WAS A PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED WHILE IN PARK AND THE RPMS INCREASED, CAUSING EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILDUP WHICH AFFECTED THE OXYGEN SENSORS AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD ALSO LEAD TO A FUEL TANK LEAK AND ULTIMATELY A FIRE. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALER. THE MAZDA DEALER NOTIFIED THE CONSUMER ABOUT A RECALL OF A SIMILAR NATURE CONCERNING THE FUEL TANK. THE MAZDA DEALER FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED INFORMED THE CONSUMER AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE OR AFTERWARDS ABOUT THE RECALL. THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETING THE RECALL SERVICE AS INSTRUCTED, BUT THE CONSUMER WAS UPSET THAT SHE WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL WHILE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. RECALL REPAIRS BEGAN IN AUGUST 2005 THE SAME MONTH OF VEHICLE PURCHASE. NO OTHER PREVIOUS PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT. THE CONSUMER OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 26 DAYS. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE IF THE PROBLEM WAS THE SAME AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. *AK
I PURCHASED AN 05 MAZDA RX8 IN JAN OF THIS YEAR. SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, I WAS INFORMED BY OTHER DRIVERS THAT MY DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT CAUSES THEM A DISTRACTION BECAUSE IT GLOWS BRIGHTER, AS IF THE HIGH BEAM HAS COME ON. I HAVE SEEN THIS MYSELF WHEN I DROVE ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF MINE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO SERVICE AT THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE LIGHT IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BECAUSE THE OTHER CAR ON THE LOT DOES IT ALSO." I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE IT IS A SERIOUS DISTRACTION AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. FROM A DRIVER LOOKING BACK AT THE RX8 THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IT LOOKS AS IF SOMEONE IS SHINING A SPOT LIGHT ON THEM. THIS IS A DISTRACTION THAT CAN LEAD TO A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS AND I CAN'T SEEM TO GET ANYONE TO LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION. IF THERE IS ANYONE YOU CAN SUGGEST THAT I SPEAK WITH, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
THE PROBLEM STARTED IN JULY 2005, WHEN MY CAR LOSE THE POWER STEERING, THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DISTRIBUTOR TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY NEVER FIXED THE CAR, I SENT TO THEM FOR 11 TIMES BETWEEN JULY 2005 TO SEPTEMBER 2006. ONE OF THOSE TIMES THE CAR ( MAZDA RX-8) LOSE THE POWER STEERING WHEN I DROVE THE CAR AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE STEERING IT`S HARD TO MOVE. *TR
MAZDA RX-8: CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TOP OF A GRADUAL SLOPE, WITH PARKING BRAKE FIRMLY PULLED UP. NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES LATER, THE CAR HAD BACKED UP INTO BOTTOM OF A DITCH. THE CAR WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $15,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE DUE TO THE FAULTY BRAKE. WITNESSES AT THE SCENE CONFIRM THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS SET.
2005 MAZDA RX8 WITH FUEL LEAK AND GASOLINE FUMES. CONSUMER STATES THAT SHE WILL NOT PARK THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE OF FEAR THE HOUSE WILL CATCH FIRE. SHE STATES THE FUMES ARE HEAVY AFTER FILL UPS. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE GAS LEAKAGE HAPPENED AFTER EACH REPAIR ATTEMPT. *JB
2005 MAZDA RX-8. CONSUMER STATES ROUGH RUNNING, STALLING AND FLOODING. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO START. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS CARBON IN THE ENGINE AND PERFORMED IT A COMPRESSION TEST. IT BARELY PASSED THE TEST. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WERE A LOT OF DEFECTS IN MAZDA RX-8 ENGINES AND THAT HE WOULD PROBABLY NEED A NEW ENGINE IN THE FUTURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY AND DECARBED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINUED TO IDLE ROUGHLY, STALL AND FLOOD SINCE THE FIRST VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP. SIX MONTHS LATER WHEN THE CONSUMER WENT TO START THE VEHICLE TO WARM IT UP, THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK AND THE ENGINE CUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE DECARBED AGAIN AND THE COILS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
