TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND SHRAPNEL FROM THE AIR BAGS CAUSED CUTS TO THE CONTACT'S ARM AND FACE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING FACILITY AND THEN TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V081000 (AIR BAGS). THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. A DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG. THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG WAS REPLACED THE END OF OCTOBER AND NOW 4 MONTHS LATER IT IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN. WHEN SOMEONE SITS IN THE SEAT THE CAR STATES PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG DISABLED. ALSO THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK DOES NOT WORK AND WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO UNLOCK THE DOOR OR EVEN OPEN IT
THE CAR STOPPED ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING PN THE HIGHWAY, BECAUSE OF FAULTY ESL UNIT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT US VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL MERCERDES W204.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF NORTH HAVEN (620 WASHINGTON AVE, NORTH HAVEN, CT 06473, (203) 239-1313) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 18V043000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V081000 (AIR BAGS). WHILE LEAVING THE DEALER, THE AIR BAG, "IMMEDIATE SERVICE IS REQUIRED AIR BAGS MALFUNCTIONING", AND "AIR BAGS INOPERABLE" WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DECLINED TO REPAIR THE SENSOR AS AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE BECAUSE THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,446.
I HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE LIGHTING ISSUES WITH FRONT, REAR, AND SIGNAL LIGHTING. I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO PAY TO REPLACE THESE LIGHTS EVERY YEAR. NOW MY POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION EBS LIGHT HAS COME ON. THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH. I JUST PAID $1300 FOR SERVICE B AND SOME OTHER THINGS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM TIRED OF ALWAYS HAVING TO PAY TO REPLACE LIGHTS.

HI, ON MY COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK, I WAS GETTING READY TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY BY DECELERATING. MY CAR SWERVED AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL WHEN I BEGAN TO PRESS THE BRAKES. THERE WERE NO CARS AT 7AM ON THE WEEKEND, SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE 1/4 MILE EXIT RAMP. I CONTINUE HOME, BUT FEEL THE CAR KICKING OUT THE REAR END WHEN I BRAKE. AT SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER SPEEDS I LOOK IN THE MIRROR AS I BRAKE AND NOTICE MY REAR RIGHT WHEEL TURNING INWARDS. I GET HOME AND WHEN I WAKE UP I LIFTED THE CAR AND CHECKED TO SEE WHAT IT WAS. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE REAR BRACKET WELDED TO THE CROSS MEMBER THAT HOLDS THE REAR TIE ROD CRAKED.
I OWN A 2009 MERCEDEZ C-300 WHICH HAD A AIRBAG RECALL THIS YEAR. I TOOK IT TO MERCEDEZ BENZ IN LITTLE SILVER, NJ TO GET AIRBAG RECALL ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF ON SEPTEMBER 25TH 2018. MY SON GOT INTO A MOTORVEHICLE ACCIDENT AND THANK GOODNESS HE WAS NOT INJURED. THE AIRBAD DIDN'T DEPLOY AND HE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. LORD, ONLY KNOWS HOW MANY OTHER DRIVERS ARE OUT THERE WITH SAME ISSUE AND MAYBE WITH NOT THE SAME LUCK.
WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IT WILL NOT TURN OVER NO LIGHTS DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD. THE RADIO CUTS ON AND THE ONLY THING THAT DISPLAYS ON THE DASHBOARD IS THE MILEAGE NO OTHER LIGHTS. WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED TO FIRST OR SECOND POSITION. THE DAY BEFORE WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT START I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND REPLACE IT IN THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP THIS TIME IT DOES NOTHING. I'M BEING TOLD IT'S AN ESL STEERING WHEEL LOCK ISSUE THAT IS COMMON TO THIS CAR MODEL.
PULLED INTO PARKING SPACE AND LOCKED CAR. 'THE CAR WAS IN A STATIONARY POSITION IN A PARKING LOT.' DID SHOPPING 1/2 HOUR. WHEN I CAME BACK THE CAR DID UNLOCK, BUT WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START IT, THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN TO START THE CAR. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT, UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, NO RADIO, THE CAR WAS TOTALLY LOCKED AND SHUT DOWN. I CONTACTED MY MERCEDES CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND HE HAD A TOW COMPANY COME TO RETRIEVE MY CAR. WHEN THE TOW GOT THERE, THE WHEELS WERE TURNED TO THE LEFT AS I HAD PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPACE AND THEY WERE STILL TURNED FROM PULLING INTO THE SPACE TO THE LEFT. IT TOOK THEM OVER AN HOUR TO LOAD THE CAR ON THEIR TRUCK BECAUSE THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED IN A TURN POSITION. THEY TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE REALIZED THE CAR WAS IN A STEERING LOCK. HE "REMOVED AND REPLACED -ALL." THE INVOICE STATES REPLACED "STEERING LOCK" [XXX] I WILL HAVE A COPY OF THE INVOICE FAXED TO YOU BY UPS. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FAX. THERE WAS VIRTUALLY NO REASON FOR THE CAR TO LOCK AS IT DID. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF AN ISSUE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL I ATTEMPTED TO START IT AND IT WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED. GOODYEAR ASSURANCE COMFORTRED 225/45R17 DEFECTIVE. SEVERAL CRACKS ON SIDEWALL OF ALL 4 TIRES. FRONT TIRES WITH 16,458 MILES AND REAR TIRES AT 25,000 MILES. LF TREAD 8/32 RF 9/32. REAR: 6/32 AND 8/32. I FORWARDED PICTURES TO GOODYEAR AND FILED A COMPLAINT 11/30/2018

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF SUGAR LAND (281-207-1500, LOCATED AT 15625 SOUTHWEST FWY, SUGAR LAND, TX 77478) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THERE IS A SMELL OF EXAUST FUMES OR PERHAPS BURNED OIL IN THE CABIN. AFTER ACCELERATING THE SMELL IS STRONGER. OPENING ROOF OR WINDOWS DOESN'T HELP.CAN ONLY SMELL WHEN DRIVING.

IN ADDITION, BOTH TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION WHEN THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V081000 AND 18V043000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,599.
FUEL PUMP HOUSING CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING FUEL. THIS IS A PLASTIC PART. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT, SO THERE WAS FUEL INSIDE THE CAR. I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR AND UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THE FAILED PUMP WITH GAS LEAKING FROM IT.
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON MY MERCEDES C300 HAS DIED. THE SPEEDOMETER IS BROKEN, SO I CAN NOT TELL HOW FAST MY CAR IS GOING. I ALSO HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN THE CAR NOR OIL PRESSURE OR ENGINE TEMPERATURE OR RPMS. THIS SEEMS DANGEROUS TO ME.

ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK FAILED TO OPERATE AND UNABLE TO START VEHICLE. COMMON PROBLEM WITH W204 CHASSIS AND PERHAPS A SAFETY ISSUE IF VEHICLE FAILS TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED.STATIONARY WHEN FAILED, HAD TO TOW HOME TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. THEFT SENSITIVE DEVICE SO PARTS CAN'T BE ORDERED FROM OTHER THAN DEALER.
TAKATA INFLATORS. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR MERCEDES-BENZ C300 SINCE JUNE 1,2016.IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS AND THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DEALT WITH. I WAS ALMOST IN A CAR ACCIDENT TODAY WHERE A IGNORANT DRIVER TEXTING SWERVED INTO MY LANE. I BRAKED IN TIME BUT HE STILL COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO BREAK. THEIR AIR BAGS EXPLODED. IF THAT WOULD OF BEEN ME AND MY AIR BAGS WOULD OF EXPLODED THERE COULD OF BEEN MORE HARM DONE TO ME FROM THE AIR BAGS EXPLODING THEN THE INITIAL CAR CRASH. THAT IS NOT THE WAY I WANT TO FIND OUT IF MY AIR BAGS WORK OR NOT. I HAVE CONSTANTLY CALLED TO THE CHECK STATUS OF WHEN THE AIR BAG RECALL IS GOING TO GET FIXED. MERCEDES USA DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE GETTING THE PARTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE NEED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE.

THE DEALER ASKED THE CONTACT TO OPT FOR A LOANER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED AND WAITED AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. YOUR REPORTS SAY THAT THE DEALERS HAVE ALL THE PARTS NEEDED. I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ IN CALABASAS AND THEY SAY THAT THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS ARE BEING RELEASED FOR ONLY CERTAIN MODELS AT THIS TIME AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART FOR MY MODEL AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE IT.
TAKATA RECALL - NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET. I THINK THEY HAVE HAD AMPLE TIME TO REMEDY THE AIRBAGS THOUGH AND HAVE NOT.

TAKATA RECALL - MY MERCEDES DEALER IS INDICATING THERE IS NO PRODUCT AVAILABLE TO FIX MY CAR. THE PROGRAM ESTIMATES FOR TIMING OF REPLACEMENTS ARE NO LONGER ACCURATE. WHEN WILL MY CAR GET FIXED AND IS MERCEDES ASSUMING ALL SAFETY LIABILITY FOR THEIR SUB CONTRACTOR FAILURE? EVERY DAY THIS CAR IS DRIVEN BY MY DAUGHTER IS A SAFETY RISK TO HER. HOW IS NHTSA PROVIDING ENFORCEMENT PRESSURE AGAINST MERCEDES?

TAKATA RECALL. IT HAS BEEN SINCE 2016 THAT THERE ARE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL SRS FOR MB, WHEN WILL A SOLUTION BECOME AVAILABLE TO CONSUMERS. I DO NOT WANT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN TO ME OR A FAMILY MEMBER BECAUSE OF THE SLOW OR NO RESPONSE IN REMEDYING THIS PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL I AM VERY CONCERNED ON MY COMMUTES TO AND FROM WORK WITH MY C300 VEHICAL. I HAVE ESCALATED AND COMPLAINED TO MERCEDES BENZ CORP IN EARLY 2017 OVER THE REMEDIATION OF MY TAKATA AIRBAGS BEING IN A HUMID AND HOT HIGH RISK ZONE. THEY ONLY RECENTLY 2017 ACKNOWLEDGE THE REMEDIATION ISSUE AND SENT A LETTER TO MY HOME IN DEC 2017 ABOUT BEING IN PRIOTY GROUP 4 AND THAT NHTSA RECENTLY GRANTED AN EXTENSION ON REMEDIATION FOR HAVING PARTS TILL MARCH 31 2018. TODAY IS APRIL 10, 2018 AND I HAVE RECIEVED NO LETTERS FROM MB CORP ON ANY UPDATES. I DID RECIEVE A LETTER FROM AUTONATION TODAY INDICATING TO CALL MY LOCAL MB DELEARSHIP TO VERIFY OPEN RECALL, CHECK IF PART AVAILABLE, OR NEED TO BE ORDERED. I CALLED THE LOCAL DELEARSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE LETTER BUT HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. THEY STATED THAT MY RECALL IS STILL PENDING AND THEY ARE UNSURE OF WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE PASSED DEADLINE FOR PARTS OF MARCH 31 2018 THEY INDICATED TO FOLLOW UP WITH MB CORPORATE. I DID FOLLOW UP WITH MB CORPORATE TO GET ANY UPDATES BUT THEY HAVE AUTOMATED MESSAGES TO CUSTOMERS TO CHECK ON WEBSITE. WHEN YOU CHECK WEBSITE RECALL SAYS PENDING. SO FAR MB CORP IS PASSED THEIR EXTENDED REMEDIATION DATE OF MARCH 31 2018 GIVEN TO THEM BY NHTSA. THEY HAVE PROVIDED NO UPDATES TO ME AS A CUSTOMER OF WHEN OR WHY PARTS ARE NOT READY. I FIND ALL THIS VERY UNACCEPTABLE AS A CUSTOMER DRIVING A CAR THAT I CAN NOT RESALE TO ANOTHER PERSON PUTTING THEM AT RISK. SHOULD ANYTHING HAPPEN TO ME I WILL ENSURE THAT MY FAMILY SEEKS ACCOUNTABILTY FROM ALL RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE REMEDIATION OF THESE AIRBAGS FOR MB CORPORTATE. PLEASE ENFORCE STRICTER REGULATGIONS ON MB CORP TO COMPLY ON REMEDIATION ON HIGH RISK CARS NOW. NOT MY FIRST SAFETY REPORT RECORDED WITH NHTSA.GOV.

THESE AIRBAGS ARE CRITICAL SAFETY ITEMS. IF TAKATA CANNOT KEEP UP WITH DEMAND THEN MERCEDES ITSELF SHOULD MANUFACTURE AND INSTALL THE AIRBAGS. WAITING FOR PEOPLE TO BE KILLED BY THEM IS CRIMINAL.

I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TURN IT TO START THE CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENS, NONE OF THE ELECTRICAL COMES ON EXCEPT FOR LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CAR DOESN'T EVEN TRY TO START. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM.
IGNITION SWITCH FAILED AT 92,000 MILES. CAR WAS WORKING FINE AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN ONCE PARKED. DASH LIGHTS & RADIO TURNED ON, BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. HORN DID NOT WORK AND GEARS WOULD NOT SHIFT WITH KEY TURNED ON START POSITION. HAD TO GET CAR TOWED AND COST $1,400 TO FIX. ASIDE FROM THIS, I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, CAR COMPUTER, VALVE COVER, AND AIR FLOW SENSOR. CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ALSO WENT OUT, AL WITHIN A 4 MONTH PERIOD.
I CONTACTED MERCEDES BENZ CONCERNING THE RECALL AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING IN. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A NATIONAL RECALL AND IT WILL TAKE TIME TO GET THE PARTS IN. HOWEVER, I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN THIS RECALL HAS BEEN LINKED TO DEATHS. MERCEDES REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING IN THE MEANTIME, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY REPORTS OF INJURY. BOTTOM LINE IS I FEEL AT RISK DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHILE THE AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE!
IGNITION SWITCH FAILED AT 76K MILES. GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT GET OUT OF PARK, STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT UNLOCK AND CAR WILL NOT START. KNOWN TO BE A COMMON ISSUE THAT AFFECTS ALL MERCEDES WITH ELECTRONIC IGNITION. MERCEDES SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO COURT VIA CLASS ACTION FOR THIS.
RECEIVED AIRBAG DRIVER AND PASSENGER-SIDE RECALLS IN JUNE 2006 AND AUGUST 2016 AND THE ACTION TO REPLACE AIRBAGS IS STILL PENDING. NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT IT TAKES YEARS TO CLOSE OUT A RECALL ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS RISK FOR INJURY OR DEATH ASSOCIATED WITH EXISTING AIRBAGS IN MY VEHICLE.
