THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF SUGAR LAND (281-207-1500, LOCATED AT 15625 SOUTHWEST FWY, SUGAR LAND, TX 77478) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ENTERED MY PARKED CAR ON 2.9.2017. BEFORE FULLY STARTING ENGINE, "CHECK-ENGINE" INDICATOR ON DASHBOARD CAME ON. TOOK IN TO DEALERSHIP ON 2.13.2017. WAS TOLD THAT THERMOSTAT HAD CRACKED/FAILED. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 56,000 MILES, AND THIS IS A MERCEDES-BENZ. HOW COULD SUCH A CRITICAL PART FAIL SO SOON IN A VEHICLE OF THIS QUALITY? PAID $700+ TO REPAIR (BILL ATTACHED).
MY CAR HAS 64,522 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED THAT IT HAS BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTERS.
LAST WEEK TOOK VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED AT MERCEDES BENZ OF BEVERLY HILLS. WHEN I GOT IT BACK I HEARD A WHISTLING/FLAPPING NOISE. IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO MERCEDES SERVICE. WAS TOLD ITS NOTHING OF CONCERN IF THE NOISE ONLY HAPPENS IN THE MORNINGS AND DISSIPATES WHEN DRIVING. EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT A 1100 MILE ROAD TRIP AHEAD AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. WAS REASSURED IT WAS JUST FINE. UPON ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION THE NOISE ESCALATED NON-STOP COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE BELT TENSIONER ON MY VEHICLE. THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS NEARLY SHREDDED. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 70,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER DOING SOME QUICK SEARCH ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, BUT RATHER A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'M PISSED THAT THE SERVICE ADVISOR PLAYED STUPID AS IF THIS WAS NOT A KNOWN WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND PUT MY SAFETY AT RISK. I'VE READ SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS FAILURE WITH AS LITTLE AS 15,000 MILES AND SO FORTH. MERCEDES IS A FRAUD AND ARE WELL AWARE OF THESE ISSUES THEY JUST HOPE ITS NOT APPARENT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
CEL ILLUMINATION, ENGINE MISFIRE, STALLING, ROUGH RUNNING, LOW COOLANT INDICATOR LIGHT UPS. NO EXTERNAL COOLANT LOSS DETECTABLE. COOLANT IN THE ENGINE OIL AND/OR IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. THIS IS CAUSED BY A BROKEN CYLINDER HEAD BOLT. ENGINE COOLANT ENTERS INTO ENGINE OIL. COOLANT MIGHT BE PRESENT IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. AFFECTED ENGINE NUMBER UP TO 1569XX 60 060658. NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO CHARGE ME $7K TO HAVE THIS FIXED WHEN IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES. I RESPECTFULLY DEMAND THAT MERCEDES BENZ USA COVER THE COSTS AND RECALL THESE AFFECTED BOLTS ASAP.
AS I WAS DRIVING I HAD A LIGHT COME ON MY DASH TELLING ME I HAD LOW COOLANT AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE IT FILLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES SINCE MY SHORT OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SEALED UNIT AND SHOULD NOT BE LOSING ANTIFREEZE ANYWHERE. I HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY LEAKS WHATSOEVER. WHEN I ADD THE COOLANT, IT SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY LOW. I AM CONCERNED THAT I MAY HAVE SOME BIG ISSUES ON MY HANDS AND COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE A HYDRO-LOCKING OF THE ENGINE PROBLEM CREATING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE LEADING TO A CRASH. AFTER A BIT OF RESEARCH I AM FINDING THAT THE MB C63 HAS "HEAD BOLT" ISSUES LEADING TO THE LOSS OF COOLANT AND ENGINES BLOWING UP AND OR HYDRO-LOCKING. I FEAR THIS ISSUE MAY HAPPEN TO ME AND WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THIS BEING LOOKED INTO AS I FEEL MB HAS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF RESPONSIBILITY HERE WITH REGARDS TO THE SAFETY OF THEIR PATRONS. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A HEADBOLT FAILURE RESULTING IN COOLANT FLOODING ONE OF THE CYLINDER, LEAKING INSIDE THE ENGINE AND CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS DRIVING AT 20MPH AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE, OTHERWISE IT WOULD MOST LIKELY RESULT IN A CRASH. MERCEDES-BENZ USA DENIES THE WIDESPREAD NATURE OF THE PROBLEM AFFECTING ALL OF THE M156 ENGINES, EVEN THROUGH IN 2010 MERCEDES-BENZ ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN DIRECTING REPLACEMENT OF THE HEADBOLTS WITH THE NEW IMPROVED DESIGN AND I PERSONALLY KNOW 3 OTHER OWNERS WHOSE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. MERCEDES-BENZ WOULD NOT RECALL THE AFFECTED ENGINES AS IT WOULD COST THEM MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, INSTEAD THEY CHOSE TO PUT THE CONSUMERS AT RISK AND HAVE THE CONSUMERS COVER THE REPAIR COST AS THE FAILURE TENDS TO HAPPEN SHORTLY AFTER THE BASE WARRANTY EXPIRES. *JS
NOISE COMING FROM FRONT OF ENGINE. BROUGHT TO A LOCAL MERCEDES BENZ INDEPENDENT SHOP. THEY REPLACED THE BELT TENSIONER, IDLER PULLEYS, AND THE MULTI RIB BELT. WHY WOULD THE BELT TENSIONER CAUSE THE RIB BELT TO RIP WITH ONLY 62K MILES ON THE CAR? *TR

BOUGHT A NEW 2009 C300 MERCEDES AT A DEALER IN SAN DIEGO. CAR HAS ROUGH IDLE AND SHAKES FOR 30 SECONDS IN THE MORNING. DEALER CHECKED AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY ARE BLAMING IT ON STRICT EMISSION ISSUES AS THE SOURCE OF THE ROUGH IDLE. HOOD DOES NOT LATCH UNLESS SLAMMED HARD. DEALER CLAIMED THEY HAD ADJUSTED LATCH BUT STILL THE SAME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO START INTERMITTENTLY AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD SPORADICALLY MISFIRE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DUMPING FUEL INTO THE ENGINE WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD MISFIRE. WHEN THE CONTACT WAS FINALLY ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY FOR APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MINUTES. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A REPLACEMENT 2010 VERSION OF THE SAME VEHICLE WHILE THE 2009 MODEL WENT THROUGH A SERIES OF TESTS. THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED IN THE 2010 MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER THEN ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,900.
