TAKATA INFLATORS: 2 RECALLS AND NO ACTION TAKEN BY MERCEDES BENZ. TAKATA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2008. THEY NEED TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE THE PARTS AVAILABLE NOW! 9 YEARS IS LONG ENOUGH TO MANUFACTURE THE DEFECTIVE PART REPLACEMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V363000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V081000 (AIR BAGS). THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. MERCEDES-BENZ OF SAN FRANCISCO (500 8TH ST, SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94103, (415) 673-2000) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
AT ONLY 5000 CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL "EXPLODED" ACCORDING TO DIAGNOSTIC AT PRINCETON DEALERSHIP. QEC CENTER IN JACKSONVILLE PROMISED TO PROVIDE RESULTS OF ANALYSIS TO DETERMINE CAUSE. ON 7/10/2013 I LEARNED UPON INQUIRY THAT QEC ADVISED PRINCETON DEALERSHIP TO DISPOSE OF PARTS WITHOUT GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP THOSE PARTS. I WISH TO KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED; HOW COMMON IS THIS OCCURRENCE; AND WHAT IS MY RECOURSE IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE ASKED AT LEAST 5 TIMES AT THE DEALER AND CALLED THE CORP. OFFICE 3 TIMES TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED. I AM NERVOUS DRIVING MY CAR ALL THEY SAY IS THEY DO NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO, NOW TAKATA IS DECLARING BANKRUPTCY AND MERCEDES OFFERS NOTHING.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2011. AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, STARTED NOTICING A ROTTEN EGG ODOR COMING FROM MY CAR. THE SMELL SEEMS TO COME FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. USUALLY OCCURS WHEN I'M GOING 45MPH OR MORE GOING UP A HILL ON A HIGHWAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO CHECK, SO THEY TOOK THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE AND SAID THEY FOUND NO ODORS WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY? THEY SAID IT MIGHT BE THE TYPE OF FUEL I USE FOR THE CAR MAY AFFECT IT, BUT I USE PREMIUM GAS ONLY FROM CHEVRON. MERCEDES REALLY NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS, BECAUSE THE SMELL IS HORRIBLE! I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SMELL FOR ALMOST THREE YRS. NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WENT OVER A CURB AND SLIGHTLY CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF A BUILDING. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT SUCH A SLOW RATE OF SPEED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE BUT CONTINUED ROLLING AND WOULD NOT STOP. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 MERCEDES BENZ C300. WHILE AT A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY ACCELERATED TO 30 MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING COLUMN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED KNEE AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
TAKATA RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THESE DEFECTS IN A TIMELY MANNER. I AM IN ZONE A AND AFFECTED BY TWO RECALL OVER A YEAR OLD.

MY 2011 C-300 HAS TWO RECALLS PENDING FOR BOTH AIR BAGS (DRIVER AND PASSENGER). I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO MBUSA FOR OVER 2 YEARS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. TO THIS DAY 11/06/2017 MBUSA HAD MADE NO ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ME OR PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE REAR SEAT-BELTS LOCKUP ON PASSENGERS AND RATCHET DOWN CONSISTENTLY WITH LITTLE MOVEMENT THEREBY REQUIRING THE PASSENGERS TO UNFASTEN THEIR BELTS AND RIDE WITHOUT THE SEAT BELT BEING FASTENED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND BOTH PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN EXISTING FROM THE PURCHASE DATE MARCH 2011
BRAKE PEDAL IS NOTCHY OR STICKS DURING THE INITIAL PORTION OF PEDAL TRAVEL. INCONSISTENT BRAKE FEEL AT EACH STOP LEADS TO OVER OR UNDER BRAKING, DEPENDING ON WHETHER OR NOT THE PEDAL STICKS. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY MERCEDES AS AN INTERNALLY LEAKING BRAKE BOOSTER, BUT THEY WON'T REPLACE IT, SAYING THE PART FALLS WITHIN SPECS. THIS CAR IS A 2011 C300W4. THIS MODEL IS NOT LISTED IN YOUR PULL DOWN MENU (I ENTERED E CLASS TO COMPLETE THE FORM). *KB
TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL
MY COMPLAINT #11053646; I HAVE TRIED E-MAILING NHTSA AND YOUR E-MAIL DOES NOT WORK. WHEN I CHECKED THE REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE FOR MY CAR IT LOOKED LIKE MINE SHOULD BE DONE FIRST BASED ON THE YEAR OF VEHICLE. AFTER I FILED A COMPLAINT I RECEIVED NOTICE IT WOULD GET DONE BY 3/31/18 THEN JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER ONE NOW SAYS 6/30/18. IT SEEMS MERCEDES IS TAKING THEIR GOOD OLD TIME WHEN I'VE HEARD OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS IMMEDIATELY TOOK CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I CAN'T SELL MY CAR AND AM AFRAID OF GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THE EXISTING AIRBAGS. THEY JUST DONT CARE.
THESE ARE KNOWN TO KILL PASSENGERS YET NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE CAR MANUFACTURERS TAKING THEIR GOOD OLD TIME REPLACING THEM. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE SELLING CARS UNTIL THEY HAVE FIX THE ONES THEY SOLD THAT HAVE DEFECTS AND RECALLS. WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR A PAYOUT FROM THE TAKATA LAWSUIT? WHY IS NO ONE DOING ANYTHING.
