TAKATA RECALL MY CAR HAS 2 ON-GOING RECALLS AND THE OLDEST ONE WAS BACK ON JANUARY 10, 2016, IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 YEARS AND THE REMEDIES ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE ACCORDING TO MERCEDES DEALERSHIP. I'M PRETTY CONCERNED ABOUT THE PROBLEMS NOT FIXED IN TIME BECAUSE THEY COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES TO ME AND MY FAMILY. I HOPE TO GET THE RECALLS FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

AFTER THE CRASH, THE ABS, AIR BAG, AND SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF HOUSTON GREENWAY (LOCATED AT 3900 SOUTHWEST FREEWAY, HOUSTON, TX 77027, 713-489-211) WHERE THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES STILL OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

VEHICLE THROTTLE DID NOT RESPOND. INCIDENT OCCURRED TWICE AND WAS REPAIRED TWICE. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 17,500 MILES DRIVEN. IN THE FIRST INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING IN DRY PAVEMENT AND GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS ON LOCAL ROADS, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME LESS RESPONSIVE UNTIL IT NO LONGER RESPONDED TO ANY INPUTS AND VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN HOME. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AND 50 MILES LATER, INCIDENT REOCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ROADS. DRIVER RECOGNIZING SYMPTOMS, PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. DEALER INDICATED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, SENSOR, AND CONNECTOR TO ECU REPLACED.
PROBLEM IDENTICAL TO ONE IN WETHERSFIELD CT. LISTED AS VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. HAPPENED TO BOTH MY WIFE AND MYSELF ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING UP THE DRIVEWAY AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE SHUT OFFT ALONG WITH BRAKES NOT WORKING AND STEERING WHEEL UNABLE TO TURN.ONE HOUR LATER AFTER SHE LEFT THE CAR I WENT OUT AND IT STARTED AND ALL WARNIG LIGHT WERE OUT. MY INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET PRIOR TO COMING TO A STOP SIGN ABS LIGHT CAME ON VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKES STEERING OR POWER. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING SLOW AFTER STOPPING I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING WORKS. NOT SURE IF VEHICLE COVERED BY WARRATY PURCHASE VEHICLE USED WITH 15000 MILES PRESENTLY HAS 27000 MILES ON VEHICLE. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH NO BRAKES APPLIED.
WHEN ACCELERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (MOSTLY) CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR SHAKES. IF YOU PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR MOST OF THE TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES AWAY. THE ENGINE ERROR CODE (FROM MERCEDES) IS P03001 WHICH IS A CYLINDER MISFIRE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP 8 TIMES NOW FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND INJECTORS AND PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. MERCEDES DEALER IS TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER A WEEK WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME NO LESS THAN 20 TIMES IN 2 YEARS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE. MY SON HAS BEEN IN THE CAR WITH ME SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED AND IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO BE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE CAR CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND STARTS TO DECELERATE. CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES WITH APPROX. 12,500 MILES ON THEM WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED HAS A BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL. THE BUBBLE IS WITHIN A QUARTER OF AN INCH TO THE RIM. CONTINENTAL IS TURNING A DEAF EAR TO THIS MATTER. THE FIRST AND ONLY THING THEY ARE SAYING IS IT IS FROM A POTHOLE. THESE TIRES SHOWED VIRTUALLY VERY LITTLE WEAR. I STAY ON YTOP OF MY VEHICLES CARE AND ALWAYS HAVE THE PROPER INFLATION. AS WELL AS HIGH SPEED BALANCING DONE IN ORDER TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF THEM. MY CARS FRONT TIRES ARE A DIFFERENT SIZE THAN THE REAR TIRES, THEREFORE THEY CANNOT BE ROTATED. HENCE THE REASON I STAY ON TOP OF THE PROPER INFLATION AND BALANCING. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT GET DRIVEN IN THE SNOW. I AVOID POTHOLES LIKE THE PLAGUE.I HAVE HIT MORE POT HOLES WITH MY OTHER CAR AND THERE ARE NO BUBBLES ON THEM WHICH ARE PIRELLI TIRES. I AM 61 YEARS OLD AND HAVE OWNED A LOT OF VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BUBBLE ON A TIRE! TIRES WITH MUCH HIGHER MILEAGE ON THEM. I WROTE TO CONTINENTAL AND INCLUDED PICTURES, THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED BACK WAS VERY LAME. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THERE SEEMS TO BE A GROWING LIST OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT CONTINENTAL TIRES. I WAS DRIVING TO COLORADO FROM TEXAS GOING NORTH ON HIGHWAY 285 ABOUT 15 MILES OUT OF CLINES CORNERS WHEN MY MOON ROOF JUST EXPLODED. GLASS WENT EVERYWHERE AND I QUICKLY SWERVED OFF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF THROWING UP DEBRIS OF ANY KIND. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY DONE RESEARCH TO FIND THAT IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ROCKS OR DEBRIS TO BREAK A MOON ROOF. THEY REPLACED A THROTTLE ACTUATOR. 2014-08-12: VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. BATTERY REPLACED. 2014-08-14: PICKED UP VEHICLE.
