IT HAPPENED HAPPENED THAT WHEN WHEELS CAME IN CONTACT WITH A POT-HOLE, THE RIM BENT, DAMAGED TIRE, AND DRAGGED THE CAR. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AT 35100 MILES ON FEBRUARY 15, 2009 TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL, AND SECOND TIME AT 42300 MILEAGE ON MARCH 13, 2010 TO THE FRONT DRIVER-SIDE WHEEL. READING COMPLAINTS ON WEB SITE, IT APPEARS THAT LOT OF CUSTOMERS ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS PROBLEM. THIS APPEARS LIKE A POOR DESIGN WHICH CAUSE UNSAFE DRIVING SITUATION, AND HUGE FINANCIAL LOSS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING VIOLENTLY. THE JERKING WOULD INTENSIFY WHENEVER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE TACHOMETER GAUGE DISPLAYED BETWEEN 50-70 IN THE RED ZONE WHENEVER SHE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MINUTES,THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND DROVE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIMING BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, TWO HEAD GASKETS WERE BLOWN AND ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED TWICE WITHIN 30 DAYS. THE FIRST REPAIR ONLY CORRECTED THE FAILURE FOR A FEW WEEKS. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED SO THAT THE VEHICLE CAN BE PROPERLY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A STRONG FUEL GAS ODOR THAT IS COMING FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE STRONGEST GAS ODOR IS COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT THAT THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL TANK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE FIRST TIME. THE MANUFACTURE HAD NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.LJ
THE TRANSMISSION (7 SPEED) IN MY MERCEDES E350 WAGON EXPERIENCED A "VALVE BODY" FAILURE THAT DISABLES ALL STEERING BOOST, BRAKE BOOST, ABS SYSTEM, ESP SYSTEMS AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL. THIS FAILURE IF IT OCCURS DURING TRAVEL WILL MAKE IN ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER OR BRAKE OR CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION. THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE AND STABILITY CONTROLS SYSTEMS FAIL. THE FAILURE OF MY VEHICLE OCCURRED WHILE STOPPED BUT, HAD I BEEN IN TRAVEL I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD MUCH CONTROL AND WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESPOND TO NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN A SAFE WAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E500. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE SUBFRAME FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS UNSTABLE AND WOULD SWAY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE WELD OF THE SUBFRAME. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BECAUSE OF THE WATER DAMAGE, THE WARRANTY WAS VOID AND WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 21,000.
FUEL LEAKING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE ABOVE BACK TIRE AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK. THE ISSUE STARTED BACK IN JULY 2008 AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY BEEN GETTING WORSE. *TT . UPDATED 11/29/12 *BF UPDATE 11/29/12 UPDATED 12/3/2012 *JS
I HAD MY CAR MAYBE 2 MONTHS BEFORE I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS TRANSMISSION FIRST THEY SAID A TRANSMISSION MODULE WAS BURNED OUT AND IT HAD A RECALL I TOOK IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES I WASN'T NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE BUT KEPT HAVING IT. (PARK PLACE DALLAS) THEN I TOOK IT TO AUSTIN THEY WORKED ON IT SEVERAL TIMES SAME ISSUE NOW NOV THE ISSUE WAS SO BAD I WAS GOING DOWN THE STREET 25 MPH COULDN'T GO ANY FASTER AND WHEN THEY PICKED UP THE CAR THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND IT BUT A SOLENOID SWITCH HAD BURNED OUT I THOUGHT IT WAS THE HEATER THEY SAID IT WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART ALSO 3 WEEKS LATER BURNING AGAIN DRAGGING AGAIN WHEN DRIVING THEY SAID THE SOLENOID SWITCH RECALLED AGAIN. THEY KEPT THE CAR UNTIL 2/25/2008 SINCE CHRISTMAS EVE . I CALLED CORPORATE AND THEY HAD A REP WHO CONTACTED MERCEDES OF GEORGETOWN ,TX THEIR RESOLUTION WAS FOR ME TO PAY ANOTHER 15-20 THOUSAND DOLLARS AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME A NEW VEHICLE . I CALLED AN ATTORNEY WHO SAID THEY COULD SWITCH VIN NUMBERS WITH MY LENDER AND REPLACE THIS JUNK THAT I AM DRIVING. I CAME TO MERCEDES LOOKING FOR A DEPENDABLE CAR GAVE THEM $20,000 DOWN ON A $58,000 CAR THINKING THAT FOR AT LEAST 7 TO 8 YEARS FOR THIS PRICE I WOULD HAVE A DEPENDABLE CAR THIS CAR IS JUNK WHY MUST I CONTINUE TO ADD ON TO MY PAYMENT DUE TO THEIR MESS EVERY ITEM RECALLED HAS BEEN RECALLED AT LEAST 2 TIMES IT'S ALSO NOT FAIR THEY DIDN'T NOTIFY OTHER BUYERS WHAT WILL THEY DO WHEN THEY NO LONGER HAVE WARRANTIES . *TR
EVERYTIME I FILL THE CAR UP WITH GAS I SMELL A GAS LEAK COMING FROM THE FUEL PUMP UNDER THE REAR SEAT DRIVERSIDE. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE VEHICLE HAS A SET OF CONTINENTAL TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, TWO TIRES FAILED BEYOND REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE AT LEAST 3,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN, TIRE LINE, SIZE, AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES E-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT, THE CONTACT LATER NOTICED GASOLINE FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE FUEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, HOWEVER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,978. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THERE WAS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A FUEL LEAK FROM UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE FAILED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND A BEEP SOUND WAS HEARD WHILE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH BY INCREASING THE BRAKE DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES WHERE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED RECALL 04V296000 SENSOTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE BATTERY WAS CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OCCURRED AT 45000 MILES AND REMAINS ACTIVE TO DATE. DURING THE FIRST OCCURRENCE THE DEALER PERFORMED AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, REPORTED NO ISSUES, AND ADVISED THAT THE LIGHT SHOULD BE IGNORED AS A FALSE ALARM. SUBSEQUENT TO THE INITIAL INSPECTION THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICING, AT WHICH TIME A PART (CAM SENSOR) REPLACEMENT WAS PROVIDED. MOST RECENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR EPA SANCTIONED EMISSIONS TESTING AT A FACILITY IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN. THE VEHICLE FAILED THE TEST. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER NEITHER ARE PROVIDING A COST FREE SOLUTION TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS QUOTED A MINIMUM COST OF $6500, AND STILL NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IT IS MY POSITION THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A PREEXISTING CONDITION, AND THAT THE DEALER FAILED TO INFORM THE NATURE AND MAGNITUDE OF THE PROBLEM AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. FURTHERMORE IT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THE NHTSA HAS RELEASED SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE MENTIONED ISSUE. AT THIS POINT IT IS UNCLEAR HOW AN EPA SANCTIONED REQUIREMENT CAN BE FULFILLED IF THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ARE FAILING TO PROVIDE A REMEDY. *TR
MY CAR, A 2006 MERCEDES E350 HAS HAD FOUR (4) FLAT TIRES IN ABOUT ONE YEAR'S TIME. I HAVE HAD DISCUSSIONS WITH AT LEAST THREE OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR MERCEDES'. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS DUE TO THE LOW PROFILE TIRES ON THE CAR. THEY SUPPOSEDLY PROVIDE BETTER HANDLING BUT ARE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLAT TIRES WHEN HITTING MINOR POTHOLES ETC. FOUR FLAT TIRES IN ABOUT A YEAR IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH THESE TIRES IN PLACE. THE DEALER DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E 55. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH HE HEARD 2 LOUD POPS AND THEN THE VEHICLE COLLAPSED TO THE GROUND. SPARKS FLEW ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR CRASH. THE AIR BAG SUSPENSION ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE HAD BLOWN. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO CALL THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANT, BUT THE WAIT TIME WAS TOO LENGTHY. HE THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AT VERY LOW SPEEDS FROM PENNSYLVANIA TO VIRGINIA. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THREE DIFFERENT SUSPENSION REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. HE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. HE ADVISED THE TECHNICIANS THAT EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AIR WOULD LEAK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER FEELS THIS VEHICLE WAS DAMAGE UPON DELIVERY AND FEELS THE DEALER KNEW ABOUT THE DAMAGE TO THE REAR AIR BAG SUSPENSION. THEY SPECULATED THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WITH THIS SAME FAILURE. CONTACT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,600. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
MY MERCEDES BENZ E-350 HAS INTERMITTENTLY EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH ITS 7-SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP IN A HIGH GEAR AND WILL NOT SHIFT EITHER AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY. THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM IS TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART. TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK IT HAS RESULTED IN NEAR COLLISIONS. DEALER FIX OF TOPPING OFF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RESETTING THE COMPUTER DOESN'T SOLVE PROBLEM.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E320. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER EVERY 4-6 WEEKS DUE TO A LOUD SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PEDAL, ALL THE SWITCHES RELATING TO THE BRAKES, THE COMPUTER WAS SHUT DOWN THREE TIMES, SENSORS WERE REPLACED, AND THE BALL IN THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, WHICH ALLOWED CARBON DIOXIDE TO LEAK INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE NINTH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKES COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000. UPDATED 10/14/08 *BF
THE CLEAR COAT PAINT ON THE 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350 AWD IS PEELING ON THE LOWER RIGHT REAR DOOR.*AK
I WAS DRIVING MY MERCEDES E350 ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION. THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND SHOWERED GLASS SHARDS INTO THE INTERIOR. MOST OF THE GLASS LANDED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WE COULD NOT FIND ANY ROCKS OR THE LIKE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AFTERWARDS. ANYONE WHO HAD BEEN IN THE BACK SEAT WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BY THE VERY SHARP GLASS FRAGMENTS. ALTHOUGH I WAS EXTREMELY STARTLED I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I DON'T KNOW IF A ROCK BROKE THROUGH THE GLASS OR WHETHER THE GLASS SIMPLY EXPLODED. *NM
I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I AM THE ORIGIONAL OWNER AND THIS IS AN E500 . I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GET HURT SO I AM REPORTING. I DO HAVE ALL RECEIPTS.
CAR WILL NOT START. THE CAR IS 8 MONTHS OLD AND THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OF SORTS THAT WILL CAUSE THE RADIO TO DIE, NAVIGATION SYSTEM TO DIE, PHONE ON MASTER PANEL TO DIE AND THEN POWER STEERING WILL BE LOST. WITHIN 12 HOURS OF THIS HAPPENING THE CAR WILL NOT START AND THE ELECTRONIC KEY WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR AS THE ENTIRE CAR IS DEAD. THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP HAS CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE MASTER PANEL, AND THE INSTANCES STILL OCCUR. THEY HAVE PERFORMED MANY DIAGNOSTIC TESTS OVER A 7 DAY PERIOD, AND THEY STILL CAN NOT DETERMINE WHAT THE CAUSE. THE UNCERTAINTY AND UNRELIABILITY OF THE CAR MAKES IT UNNERVING FOR A FEMALE TRAVELING SALES PERSON. YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU WILL GET STUCK. *NM
IN MY OPINION, THE NHTSA DROPPED THE BALL WHEN THEY APPROVED THE HID AUTOMOBILE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM ON SOME NEWER MODEL CARS. THE GLARE THESE HEADLIGHTS PRODUCE IS VERY DISTURBING AND IN MY OPINION,THIS STANDARD SHOULD BE REVISITED AGAIN BY THE NHTSA, AND REVISED WITH NEW ANTI-GLARE PARAMETERS. *JB
ON DECEMBER 28 2006 I TOOK MY 2003 MERCEDES BENZ E320 TO MERCEDES BENZ OF MANHATTAN BECAUSE THE SRS (SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM) LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD. THE TECHNICIANS DETERMINED THAT THE SRS CONTROL UNIT WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SRS CONTROL UNIT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DEPLOYING THE AIR BAGS AND TENSIONING THE SEAT BELTS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. I PURCHASED MY CAR USED FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WITH A BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM QUALITYGUARD PLUS 615-725-1000 POLICY #QSDL01651641 EXPIRES: 07-01-2007. THE WARRANTY COMPANY WAS INFORMED OF THE ABOVE, BUT REFUSED TO PAY FOR REPAIRS CLAIMING THAT THE PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I ASKED THEM WHY, AND THEY JUST REPEATED, ITS NOT COVERED. I THINK I DESERVE A BETTER ANSWER THAN THAT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO MY PERSONAL SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. I THINK IT SHOULD BE COVERED. YOU ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *NM
NO CHILD SAFETY LOCKS FOR THE REAR SEATS. THE CHILD IS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS AT SPEED. THE DOORS DO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AT 9 MPH BUT YOU CAN OPEN THE DOOR BY PULLING THE LOCK UP THEN PULLING THE DOOR HANDLE OPEN. *NM

(2) DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS FAILURE RESULTS IN NON DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELT TENSIONERS, AND TOLD ME IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. (3) DEALER REPLACED 5 CABLES, 10 CABLE CONNECTORS, 1 FUSE ELEMENT AND REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER. BY THE WAY, CONSUMER FORUMS AND BLOGS REFERENCE MANY IDENTICAL MERCEDES SYSTEM FAILURES. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A STRANGE ODOR LIKE ROTTEN EGGS OBSERVED IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE STOPPED AND WAITING FOR A PARKING SPACE TO OPEN UP, THE ENGINE REVVED AND ACCELERATED FORWARD ALTHOUGH THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE SPEED AT IMPACT WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS 40 MPH. AFTER THE IMPACT THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF HOWEVER THE ENGINE WAS RACING AND THE FRONT WHEELS WERE STILL SPINNING AND SMOKING. THE SEATBELTS WERE WORN AT THE TIME OF IMPACT, BUT REMOVED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT WAS SENT TO THE HOSPITAL.

WHENEVER THE CONTACT PLACES THE VEHICLE INTO WAGON MODE, SHE IS UNABLE TO ADJUST THE PASSENGER SEAT IN ORDER TO ALLOW A PASSENGER TO SAFELY TRAVEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN THAT PARTICULAR MANNER. THE ISSUE WAS NOTICED EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. UPDATED 07/28/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER SEAT WOULD NOT ADJUST. SUBMISSION FOR DEFECTIVE 2006 MERCEDES E-350 STATION WAGON FROM PLAZA MOTORS COMPANY. *TS THE CONSUMERS PURCHASE STATION WAGONS BECAUSE THEY OFTEN PURCHASE ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE CARRIED IN A SEDAN. THE OPERATOR'S MANUAL GIVES DIRECTION AS TO HOW TO LOWER THE BACK SEATS TO EXPAND THE CARGO COMPARTMENT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN THE REAR SEATS WERE LOWERED THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT COULD NOT BE SLID BACK, USING THE CONTROLS ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR, FOR AN ADULT PASSENGER TO RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM ORIGINATING IN GERMANY. *NM
(NHTSA ACTION# PE12001) I RECENTLY PURCHASED 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350 IN FEB 2014. I AM THE SECOND OWNER. THE FIRST OWNER HAS KEPT AND SERVICED THE CAR REGULARLY AND I HAVE THE RECORDS. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY CRASH. THE DATE OF OCCURRENCE AND MILES ARE APPROXIMATE AND BASED ON THE FIRST OWNER'S BEST OF KNOWLEDGE. I PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED IT ON MARCH 3, 2014 AND AT 89122 MILES. AFTER PURCHASING THE I FILLED THE GAS TANK. I LEFT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT AND WHEN I WENT INTO THE GARAGE IN THE MORNING, MY GARAGE SMELLED LIKE SOMEONE HAS SPILLED GAS IN THE GARAGE. I CHECKED THE GARAGE FLOOR UNDER THE CAR BUT THERE WAS NO VISIBLE LEAK. I CALLED THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND HE TOLD ME IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE SMELL GOES AWAY AFTER YOU DRIVE THE CAR AND USE UP SOME GAS. THE GAS SMELL IS SO STRONG THAT I WAS WORRIED TO TURN ON ANY ELECTRICITY. I AM WORRIED THAT ONE DAY IT IS GOING TO CAUSE FIRE IN MY GARAGE. I HAVE NOW EXPERIENCED THIS TWICE. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR EVERY MERCEDES BENZ CARS WITH 211 ENGINES. IT IS SAD THAT MERCEDEZ BENZ WILL NOT FIX THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON THEIR OWN. WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR? SOMEONE TO DIE? *TR
MERCEDES BENZ KNOWS ABOUT THE SBC UNIT WEARING OUT THE BRAKES PREMATURELY YET HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. THERE HAS BEEN A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE BRAKES ALSO, BUT THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PREMATURE WEAR. THIS HAS TO DO WITH FIXING A BUG IN THE SOFTWARE FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO COME ON AND FOR YOU TO BRING IN FOR SERVICE. PROBLEM IS THEY ARE CHARGING CONSUMERS FOR THIS BUG FIX. I HAD TO PAY $120. MY CURRENT MILEAGE IS 127,000. BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED GOING ON 5 TIMES ALREADY. *KB
DT*: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E CLASS, AND STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, ALL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, BUT THERE WAS NO STOPPING POWER. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED HARDER AND THERE WAS SLIGHT POWER AND THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CALLED AND SUGGESTED THE VEHICLE BE TURNED OFF AND ON TO RESTORE BRAKING POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE STOPPING AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE BRAKES LOST POWER AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THERE WAS A LOOSE WIRE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 3/28/2006 - *NM
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS MALFUNCTIONING, FAIRLY CONSISTENT AT LOW SPEEDS. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2006 MERCEDES E350 IN AUGUST 13 AND TODAY WITH 1175 MILES ON THE ODOMETER; THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN; THE ENGINE HIGH REVVED LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS STUTTERING LIKE THE CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING (THE CAR IS A AUTOMATIC) AND WAS BARELY MOVING; I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE AND CONTACTED SOS SYSTEM. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE FAILURES ON THE OBC. *NM
TRANSMISSION FAILED ON 07-26-2005 LEFT ME STRANDED ON STREET IN HILLSIDE NJ CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY INDICATED IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM MALFUNCTION AND REPLACED COMPUTER. TRANSMISSION STILL HAVING SLIPPING OCCASIONALLY SVC DEPT SAID THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG. MB IGNORING MY REQUEST FOR A NEW CAR. *JB

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BEING CLASSIFIED AS UNSAFE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED FROM THE DAY SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE LOT, THE VEHICLE PULLED SEVERELY TO THE RIGHT. THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE BEGAN SWERVING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. ALSO THE VEHICLE MADE A STRANGE SOUND WHEN THE CONSUMER BACKED UP AND TURNED TO THE RIGHT. *JB
