TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH A FULL TANK OF FUEL, A FUEL ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED TO THE MERCEDES-BENZ OF AUGUSTA, GEORGIA DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000. UPDATED 10/24/17*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. *JS
The vehicle will intermittently go into limp mode with a max speed of 45mph. At a stop vehicle will not accelerate FWD unless transmission is put into park and the vehicle turned off and then re-started. Professional diagnosis suggests the transmission needs to be replaced and this is common for cars with 100k miles or more. Only a Mercedes Authorized Technician with a real time connection to a Mercedes Server can properly perform this task. This is a sub par design that creates a safety hazard. The repair procedure coupled with the frequency of this serious failure makes this vehicle a Lemon. Mercedes Benz Is Totally Responsible.
PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD, WITH ANYTHING STRIKING THE CAR. ON THE ROAD ALONE WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES, THE GLASS SHATTERED UPWARD, HELD IN PLACE FOR A BIT UNTIL I COULD EXIT, THEN FALLING INWARD AS I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION.
WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF POWERING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT HEATER I SMELLED PLASTIC BURNING AND IMMEDIATELY POWERED OFF THE SEAT HEATER. SINCE I WAS ALREADY ON THE ROAD I CONTINUED DRIVING AND DID NOT INVESTIGATE FURTHER. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I POWERED THE SEAT HEATER AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE BURNING SMELL REOCURRED, HOWEVER, THIS TIME THE LEFT SIDE LUMBAR SUPPORT BECAME VERY HOT. I POWERD OFF THE SEAT HEATER IMMEDIATELY AFTER AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND NOTICE A BURN HOLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE LEFT LUMBAR SUPPORT AREA OF THE SEAT.
PROBLEM WITH 2015-2016 NAVIGATION DVD UPDATE I PURCHASED THE (2015-2016) LATEST NAVIGATION DVD UPDATE FOR MY 2008 MERCEDES-BENZ E350 SEDAN FROM THE MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERSHIP AT DENVER, COLORADO. SINCE JANUARY 23RD 2016, WHEN I MADE THE PURCHASE, THE NAVIGATION DVD HAS BEEN WORKING FINE - EXCEPT FOR YESTERDAY, WHEN I WANTED TO GO TO AN OFFICE BUILDING IN HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLORADO. I FOUND OUT, TO MY SURPRISE, THAT MY CAR'S NAVIGATION INTERFACE (FED FROM THE NAVIGATION DVD) NO LONGER RECOGNIZES THE CITY OF HIGHLANDS RANCH, IN COLORADO. MEANWHILE MY OLDER DVD, WHICH IS THE 2010 VERSION, RECOGNIZES HIGHLANDS RANCH, WITHOUT PROBLEM. AFTER MY MEETING AT HIGHLANDS RANCH, I WENT TO THE NEARBY MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERSHIP; AND THE SERVICE ASSOCIATE HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY - BUT ALL TO NO AVAIL. IT WAS LATER, AFTER LOTS OF TINKERING, THAT I FOUND OUT THAT ALL THE STREETS IN HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO ARE NOW PUT UNDER THE NEARBY CITY OF LITTLETON, COLORADO - ON THE LATEST NAVIGATION DVD. I HAVE CALLED THE CUSTOMER CARE AT MERCEDES-BENZ OF USA; AND THEY DIRECTED ME TO HERE.COM, SO I COULD FILE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE FILED THE COMPLAINT. IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE, HOWEVER, THAT BASED ON THE MAP THAT'S PUBLICLY AVAILABLE ON HERE.COM, STREETS IN HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLORADO ARE UNDER LITTLETON, COLORADO. SO, THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM THAT IS LIMITED TO MY DVD OR MY CAR'S NAVIGATION FIRMWARE OR SOFTWARE. ON HERE.COM, THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS. I HAVE ALSO CALLED THE MERCEDES-BENZ OF DENVER (THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE IMPUGNED DVD); AND THEY TOLD ME NAVIGATION DVDS CANNOT BE RETURNED.
2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350W. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS NOT WORKING AND THIRD BRAKE LIGHT STOPPED AS WELL. CONSUMER WAS NOTIFIED BY DEALER THAT THIS HAPPENS TO VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRUNK OPENING AND CLOSING THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE ELECTRIC CABLE FROM THE ENGINE TO THE TRUNK COULD FAIL FOR UNKNOWN REASONS.
2008 MERCEDES E350 WITH 18 INCH LOW PROFILE ALLOY WHEELS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO RIMS WHICH WERE CRACKED CAUSING DEFLATION. LOW PROFILE 18 INCH ALLOY WHEELS. NO HARD DRIVING OR CURB INCIDENTS, JUST CRACKED. THE TIRE PLACE I TOOK IT TO SAYS THEY SEE A LOT OF THESE SPECIFIC RIM CRACKS ON MERCEDES OF THIS PERIOD.
I PURCHASED A 2008 E350 4MATIC SPORT IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 AND I HAVE BEEN NOTICING WHEN I BUY GAS THERE IS A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS WITHIN THE VEHICLE FOR MANY MILES AFTER THE PURCHASE. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MY IMAGINATION UNTIL A FRIEND WAS RIDING WITH ME ON A TRIP TO MARYLAND AND NOTICED IT TOO. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AND I AM NOT SURE WAY.
WHEN I FILL THE VEHICLE UP WITH GAS THERE IS A STRONG SMELL AS IF IT IS LEAKING EVEN THOUGH NO GAS IS LEAKING OUT TO THE NAKED EYE. RECENTLY THE SMELL IS NOW INVADING THE CABIN SPACE OF THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCEDES BENZ E350. WHILE PARKED, A STRONG FUEL ODOR EMITTED INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO FUEL LEAKAGE VISIBLE ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENDER CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK TO FULL, A DISTINCT GASOLINE SMELL IS PRESENT. WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN AND THE GASOLINE INDICATOR IS LESS THAN FULL, THE DISTINCT SMELL GOES AWAY.
THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED DUE TO SEPARATION OF BOND WIRES FROM THE LEAD FRAME IN THE SENSOR. THIS RESULTS IN AN INTERRUPTION IN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION IN THE CHIP HOUSING OF THE SENSOR. THE ELECTRICAL FUEL PUMP IS NOT RECEIVING A CRASH SIGNAL THAT IS REQUIRED FOR THE FUEL PUMP TO DISCONNECT AND PREVENT FUTURE FUEL DELIVERY AS DESIGNED. * MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALLED 2008 E350 MODELS. THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER OR START. THERE'S A FAINT GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE BACK SEAT. THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WITH AN AUTHORIZED MB SERVICER, HOWEVER, MBUSA DOS NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE RECALL ISSUES.
IN THE PAST 10 MONTHS THE CAR IN QUESTION HAS EXPEREINCED ONE BROKEN SUSPENSION COIL SPRING, AND A SEPERATE SUSPENSION COIL SPRING FRACTURE. I CONTACTED MERCEDES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THESE CORE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED AMOUNTED TO THEM BEING SORRY THAT "THINGS FAIL". I SUSPECT THERE IS A LARGE POPULATION OF POORLY DESIGNED/MANUFACTURED SUSPENSION SPRINGS IN MERCEDES' VEHICLES ON U.S. ROADS RIGHT NOW AND I FELT SOME RESPONSIBILITY TO REPORT MY EXPERIENCES. FILLED MY TANK, PARKED IN MY GARAGE, GAS SMELL WAS ALL OVER GARAGE AND ALL OVER INSIDE THE CAR.THE CAR WAS LEAKING GAS FROM UNDER THE BACK SEAT, IN THE SENDING UNIT. THIS IS REALLY DANGEROUS AND SHAMEFUL OF MERCEDES BENZ TO HAVE THIS DEFECT, WHICH I LATER FOUND OUT FROM A LOT OF POSTING ONLINE.
WITH REFERENCE TO PREVIOUS EMAIL SHOP CALLED AND STATED THAT THE BALANCE SHAFT ON THE CAR IS BAD. ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON . PARKED CAR IN THE GARAGE TRIED TO START NEXT MORNING CAR CRANK BUT WILL NOT START.
VEHICLE CRANK BUT WILL NOT START TOOK TO SHOP DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED A BAD CRANK SENSOR AND BAD SPROCKET/ CAM SHAFT.
LEAKY FUEL SENDING UNIT. I BROUGHT MY 2008 E63 AMG INTO MERCEDES OF BOSTON FOR TO REPAIR A LEAKING FUEL SENDING UNIT AROUND THE SPRING OF 2015. I REALIZE THIS WAS AN ISSUE FOR MANY E CLASS AND WAS BEING INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED MY SERVICE ADVISOR IF MERCEDES WAS AT LEAST COVERING PART OF THE REPAIR. HE SAID THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE ON IT. I PAID $900 FOR THE REPAIR. I JUST FOUND OUT ON THE NHTSA THAT MERCEDES GAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR FUEL RELATED PARTS FOR 15 YEARS AS OF SEPTEMBER 2014. MERCEDES IS DELIBERATELY HIDING THESE DETAILS FROM CONSUMERS. NO NOTIFICATIONS WAS EVER SENT. NO REFUNDS OFFERED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. UPON RE-FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM A MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK GASKET AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

ALSO, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT WHILE THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED, THE MESSAGE INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS DEACTIVATED ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
GAS VAPOR LEAKS FROM THE CAR AND FILLS THE GARAGE AND HOUSE. THE VAPORS INCREASE WITH HIGHER TEMPERATURES.
RELATED TO CASE# EA13003 I RECENTLY PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED 2008 E550 WITH 59K MILES IN DECEMBER 2014. AFTER FILL-UP, I NOTICED A FAINT FUEL SMELL ON THE DRIVERS REAR AREA NEAR THE REAR WHEEL. I HAVE ALSO OPENED UP THE ACCESS HATCH AND NOTICED FUEL SEEPING FROM THE SENDING UNIT. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE EXACT ISSUES I HAVE SEEN IN REGARDS TO CASE #EA13003. FUEL PUMP LEAKING FUEL CAUSING VAPORS IN CAR. CAUSED MIGRAINE HEADACHES. *JS
JUST PURCHASED THIS 2008 E550 WITH 100K MILES ON IT. IT WAS INSPECTED AND SAID TO BE A GREAT MAINTAINED VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUES. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND A RED INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON TELLING ME STOP CAR TOO LOW. CAR WAS IN SPORT MODE WITH THE VEHICLE RAISED BUTTON INDICATOR LIGHT ON. I DROVE BACK TO MY HOUSE AND PARKED THE VEHICLE, AS IT SAT FOR AN APPROXIMATE 1 HOUR I NOTICED IT DROP SIGNIFICANTLY. I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON TOO SEE IF IT WOULD RAISE AGAIN AND THE COMPRESSOR WAS STILL WORKING BUT NO MOVEMENT WAS HAPPENING. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THESE VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I JUST SPENT 20K ON A VEHICLE THAT LASTED ME 7 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE FIX COULD COST ME A FEW THOUSAND DEPENDING ON WHAT THEY FIND. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR ALL OWNERS OF THE AIRMATIC SYSTEMS. THEY ARE FAULTY AND ARE TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE GOING BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED. GREAT VEHICLE WITH A HUGE FLAW. *TR

EACH TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK (I DO NOT TOP OFF), I SMELL GAS FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK IN MY GARAGE. THE ODOR HAS GOTTEN SO STRONG, I CAN SMELL THE GAS IN MY HOUSE. I STARTED PARKING OUTSIDE MY GARAGE UNTIL THE SMELL DISAPPEARED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHICH COST ME $750 TO REPAIR. IT WAS THE GAS TANK SEALER WHICH WAS LEAKING WHEN I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, YET NO RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT TO ME. I WOULD LIKE MY $750 PLUS DAMAGES TO MY HEALTH OF SMELLING THE GAS FUMES IN MY GARAGE AND MY HOME. NOT TO MENTION THE DANGER OF THE DAMAGE A SPARK COULD HAVE DONE. *TR
BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY NOV 2014, I STARTED NOTICING A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN MY GARAGE. THE ODOR SEEMED TO BE STRONGER WHEN I FILLED THE CAR WITH GAS. BY DECEMBER 2014, THE FUEL SMELL PERMEATED TO MY KITCHEN, THROUGH THE GARAGE BECAUSE THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG. MY HUSBAND ADVISED ME TO PARK THE CAR OUTSIDE BECAUSE HE WAS FEARFUL THE CAR WOULD EXPLODE WITH THE OTHER CHEMICALS NEAR AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ (MB) HEADQUARTERS ON TWO OCCASIONS TELLING THEM ABOUT MY PROBLEM. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THERE WOULD BE 'EXTENDED WARRANTY' LETTERS ISSUED IN LATE JANUARY OR EARLY FEBRUARY 2015 THAT WOULD PROVIDE ME WITH REIMBURSEMENT OPTIONS AND THAT THEY RECOMMENDED GETTING IT FIXED ASAP. THEREFORE, JANUARY 13, 2015 MERCEDES BENZ OF SAN ANTONIO FIXED MY FUEL TANK AND I PAID $3,132.03 FOR THE REPAIR. I LATER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA IN JANUARY. THE ODI# IS 10669386. WHEN I DIDN'T RECEIVE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY LETTER, I DECIDED TO EMAIL MB TO SEE IF THE LETTERS HAD BEEN SENT. THEY INFORMED ME THE LETTERS WERE BEING SENT. TODAY, MARCH 25, 2015, I DECIDED TO CALL MB HEADQUARTERS(AGAIN) TO SEE WHAT THE DELAY WAS IN SENDING MY LETTER. MB INFORMED ME I DIDN'T RECEIVE A WARRANTY LETTER BECAUSE MY 2008 E350 WAS A PARTIAL ZERO EMISSIONS VEHICLE (PZEV) AND THOSE 'LABELED' VEHICLES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I AM DISTRAUGHT OVER THIS DECISION AND FEEL I AM BEING WRONGLY EXCLUDED FROM THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY CAR IS GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND I'M BEING PUNISHED FOR IT. I NEED ASSISTANCE IN ANY POSSIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF MY FAULTY GAS TANK. NOT SURE WHAT THE EMISSIONS PART PLAYS IN THIS? PLEASE HELP!! *TR
MY VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE THE IMPACT WAS TO THE SIDE FRONT QUARTER PANEL (FROM THE LEFT TIRE TO THE FRONT LEFT BUMPER). AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT THE DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG AND THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR AIRBAG DEPLOYED (NO PASSENGER). HOWEVER, THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THE DRIVERS SEAT BOOSTER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. RESULTING IN INJURY TO MY LEFT KNEE, LEFT HIP, LEFT RIBS, LEFT SHOULDER (SURGERY PENDING), LATERAL WHIPLASH AND CONCUSSION. I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH MBNA. IF THE PASSENGER DRIVER SIDE DOOR AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITH NO PASSENGER THEN THE DRIVERS DOOR AIRBAG MUST HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN WEST LOS ANGELES AT THE INTERSECTION OF MANCHESTER AVE AND EMERSON. POLICE AND PARAMEDICS WERE CALLED AND I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. SURGERY IS PENDING FOR MY LEFT SHOULDER AND POSSIBLY LEFT KNEE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT A COST OF $3,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
I PURCHASED THIS USED CAR AND PARKED IN MY GARAGE-CAME OUT ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER PARKING AND NOTICED A VERY STRONG RAW GASOLINE SMELL COMING FROM THE DRIVERS REAR INSIDE THE COMPARTMENT. I REMOVED THE BACK SEAT AND THE FUEL TANK SEAL IS LEAKING. TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP TO CONFIRM AND THEY AGREED THAT THE FUEL PUMP, SENDING UNIT AND TANK SEAL ARE LEAKING FUEL AND ARE AN EXPLOSION/FIRE HAZARD-NEED TO CORRECT THIS ASAP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL CAR AND THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE COME IN WITH GASOLINE LEAKING FROM THE SAME PLACE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT MERCEDES NEEDS TO STEP UP AND REPAIR.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN MAY OF 2014 FROM A NON-MERCEDES DEALER. TOWARDS THE END OF DECEMBER OF 2014, I NOTICED A STRONG ODOR OF GAS IN OUR GARAGE EVERY TIME I FILLED UP THE TANK. THE ODOR WOULD DISSIPATE AFTER THE GAS LEVEL WENT DOWN BUT THE STRONG ODOR RETURNED EVERY TIME I FILLED UP THE TANK. I DID NOTICE MOISTURE ON THE GARAGE FLOOR BUT IT WOULD EVAPORATE BY THE TIME I DROVE BACK INTO THE GARAGE SO I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. THE ODOR WAS SO STRONG THAT I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR TO MY INDEPENDENT MERCEDES REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. IT TURNS OUT THAT THERE IS A DEFECTIVE SEAL ON THE GAS TANK WHICH REQUIRES THE ENTIRE TANK TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $2200 JUST FOR THE GAS TANK-NO LABOR INCLUDED YET. FORTUNATELY, I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THE COMPANY IS SENDING OUT AN INSPECTOR TO MY MECHANIC TO VERIFY THAT A NEW TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN A 2008 MERCEDES. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY WANT TO DISPUTE THE REPAIR. BASED ON MY RESEARCH, MULTIPLE LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN FILED IN VARIOUS STATES ON THIS EXACT ISSUE. AFTER REFUELING MY CAR'S GAS TANK I BEGAN TO NOTICE SOME SORT OF GAS LEAKAGE. IT'S ESPECIALLY PRONOUNCED WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE SINCE THE FUME IS UNMISTAKABLE. THERE IS APPARENTLY A FUEL LEAKAGE NEAR THE REAR TIRE (DRIVER'S SIDE). I'M CONCERNED THAT IF THERE WERE ANYTHING IN THE GARAGE THAT IS IGNITED IT WOULD CAUSE SOME TERRIBLE INCIDENT. AFTER I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE I FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL SENDER UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH A RELATED GASKET. STARTING APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2014, MY CAR SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR WHEN I FEEL UP THE FUEL TANK. WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, ENTIRE GARAGE SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE AS WELL. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS COMING FROM THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL, EVERY TIME I FILLED UP THE FUEL TANK ON MY 2008 MBENZ E 350. OWNED THE CAR FOR OVER 1 YEAR, NOTICED A PRONOUNCED SMELL OF GASOLINE AFTER FILLING UP AT A LOCAL SERVICE STATION. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL MERCEDES SPECIALIST WHO REMOVED THE INSPECTION PLATES UNDER THE REAR PASSENGER SEATS. DRIVER SIDE REVEALED A LARGE POOLING OF GASOLINE (APPROX 8 FL OZ) AROUND THE FUEL TANK APPARATUS. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND REQUIRED $1100 TO REPLACE THE PART. *TR

SAFETY AND HEALTH ISSUE WITH FUEL LEAKING FROM GAS TANKS AND TWO FUEL PUMPS IN 2008 MERCEDES E350. THERE IS TERRIBLE SMELL IN THE CAR THAT STARTED AROUND AUGUST 8, 2014 AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE. YOU CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS SMELL. WE FIND OUT FROM MERCEDES DEALER THAT THIS IS FROM CORRODED SEALS AROUND GAS TANK AND THE TWO FUEL PUMPS THAT PUMP FUEL FROM THE GAS TANK. GASOLINE HAS LEAKED OUT AND HAS SATURATED INSULATION MATERIALS INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE CAR. APPARENTLY GAS TANK IS LOCATED INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT UNDER THE REAR SEAT. THEY ARE WANTING TO CHARGE US $2,500 TO FIX AND REPAIR THE DAMAGE - WHICH IS DUE TO THEIR FAULTY SEALS AROUND THE GAS TANK AND FUEL PUMPS - REPLACE THE FUEL PUMPS, CLEAN UP ALL THE SPILLED FUEL, REPLACE THE INSULATION MATERIAL AND WHAT EVER ELSE HAS BEEN DAMAGED. THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL VAPOR THAT IS NOTICEABLE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL. ON JULY 30TH, 2014 I FUELED MY 2008 MERCEDES E63 AMG IN THE SAME MANNER AS I HAVE FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. WHEN I PARKED MY VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE AND CLOSED THE DOOR I NOTICED A FAINT ODOR OF GASOLINE. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE EXHAUST FUME BUILT UP IN THE ENCLOSED ENVIRONMENT. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I CHECKED, THERE WAS AN OVERWHELMING ODOR OF GASOLINE. FUMES WERE SO STRONG I COULD CLEARLY SMELL IT FROM MY FLOOR APARTMENT. LUCKILY MY NEIGHBOR WERE AWAY ON VACATION. THE SMELL OUTSIDE THE ENTRY WAY INTO THE GROWERS WAS SO STRONG IT STUNG MY EYES. KNOWING THE VOLATILITY GAS VAPORS I IMMEDIATELY OPENED THE GROWERS DOOR. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE REAR WHEEL ARCH OF THE DRIVER SIDE I SAW A PUDDLE ODD GASOLINE AND INTERMITTENT DROPS OF GASOLINE COMING DOWN FROM THE FUEL TANK AREA. THE GASOLINE DID NOT STOP LEAKING UNTIL I DRIVE IT TO ABOUT 3/4 FULL. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS FOR THE SMELL OF GASOLINE TO DISSIPATE FROM THE INTERIOR. I AM AWARE OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST MERCEDES FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2008 E63 MERCEDES BENZ IN DECEMBER 2013. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MERCEDES BENZ DEALER (LUCKILY) TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT PRIOR TO A ROAD TRIP ON 7/2/2014 AND IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK AND SENDING UNIT (S). THE TECHNICIANS AT THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND OPERATE. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE IS COMMON TO MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR (A RECALL OR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN DONE AGAINST MB FOR THIS PROBLEM). I WAS PARKING IN LA FITNESS GYM. IN LA HABRA ON 3/11/14 AT 1 P.M, A CLEAR DAY, IN A SPACE IN THE MIDDLE PARKING SPACE. FRONT TIRES WORE OUT ON THE INSIDE PREMATURELY. DEALER ( KEYES MERC.) WAS UNABLE TO ALIGN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SUSPENSION HAD DROPPED, DUE TO GRAVITY, AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PLACE SHIMS TO PROP UP THE FRONT END. MERC CUSTOMER RELATIONS WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A REASONABLE ENGINEERING EXPLANATION AND UNWILLING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. THE SHIMS WERE PLACED AND THE CAR STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT.MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IN THE EVENT OF A SUSPENSION FAILURE. *TR
