TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFELY. A MECHANIC FROM A REPAIR FACILITY ADVISED HER TO CALL THE DEALER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL # 00V138000(VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER). AN APPOINTMENT WAS SET WITH THE DEALER FOR 01/04/2010. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,108. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,090.
CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE ON 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. INVOLVED POWER BRAKES, BOOSTER, ABS SYSTEM. CAUSED MINOR INJURIES BUT TOTAL LOSS OF TWO VEHICLES. *TR
I OWN A 2000 GRAND MARQUIS THAT I BOUGHT N 05 AS OF THE LAST PAST YEAR I CANT DRIVE AT NIGHT CAUSE OF THE HEADLIGHTS GOING OFF WHILE DRIVING I HAVE BEEN TICKETED 4 THIS AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO A DEALER ONLY TO GET NO HELP. AFTER DRIVING 10-15MINS THEY WILL CLICK AND TURN OFF AFTER 1-5MINS POP BACK ON. I HOPE 2 GET ANSWER SO I WANT DO AWAY WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRODUCTS. *TR
DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH HIGH BEAMS ON. AFTER AN EXTENDED TIME ,AT LEAST AN HOUR, HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF. SWITCHED TO LO BEAMS AND THEY CAME ON, SWITCHED BACK TO HIGH BEAMS AND THEY WENT OFF AGAIN. I HAVE A 1994 GRAND MARQUIS AND IT DOES THE EXACT SAME THING. REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT BREAKER AND STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
CAR STARTED RUNNING HOT ALL OF A SUDDEN..FOUND OUT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING ON SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL INJECTORS. CAUSING THE CAR TO MISFIRE AND SLOW TO PICK UP SPEED. TRIED TO GET FIXED BUT WAS TOLD THE EXP. DATE WAS IN 07.SO I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET..I FEEL A RECALL SHOULDN'T HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE CAUSE IT TELLS YOU THAT ONE OF THESE DAYS THE PART ON THE CAR IS GOING TO NEED TO BE FIXED. ON 08/18/2008 MY MOTHER TOOK HER VEHICLE TO SUNNYVALE LINCOLN MERCURY DEALERSHIP [408] 732-7000[SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THERE] BECAUSE SHE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING THE TRANSMISSION TO GO IN GEAR USING THE GEAR SHIFT HANDLE ON THE STEERING COLOMN. THE DEALERSHIP [INVOICE 24804, GABRIEL MEDINA] SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE DROVE O.K. IT WAS JUST HARD TO GO FROM PARK TO DRIVE. MY MOTHER IS 86 YEARS OLD AND LIVES BY HER SELF. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT SHE WAS TAKEN FOR A RIDE AND CHEATED OUT OF $2,611.93. SHE WAS NEVER TOLD AS TO WHY THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SHE DRIVES A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS WITH 17,352 MILES ON IT. ALL OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE WORK WAS DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP FROM DAY ONE. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MISSING. HER WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE TRANSMISSION IS HER RECEIPT FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION ONCE SHE GOT THE GEAR SHIFT HANDLE TO GO TO DRIVE. SO, IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE LINKAGE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN TO THE TRANSMISSION, WHY DID THE TRANSMISSION HAVE TO BE REPLACED? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE FAILURE STARTED INTERMITTENTLY BUT BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS: 00V083000 (SEAT BELTS: FRONT: RETRACTOR) OR 00V157001 (SEAT BELTS: FRONT: ANCHORAGE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.
I FILLED THE FUEL TANK. SHORTLY I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE LEVEL WAS RAPIDLY DROPPING. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. FUEL WAS POURING FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE. A LARGE PUDDLE OF FUEL COLLECTED UNDER THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE FUEL PUMP HAD STUCK AT 65 PSI AND RUPTURED THE FUEL LINE. I HAD THE FUEL LINE AND PUMP, ALONG WITH THE FILTER REPLACED. *TR
2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS AIR BAGS FAILED TO INFLATE IN AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE. CONSUMER SENT A COMPLAINT TO FORD AND NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. *KB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE, A POIGNANT ODOR, AND SMALL FLAMES SEEPING FROM THE DASHBOARD. HE PULLED OVER, EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND CALLED 911. HE TAMED THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS ARRIVED AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE BLOWER FAN OF THE HEATER & DEFROSTER FAILED TO OPERATE. WINDSHIELD FROST ON THE OUTSIDE AND FOG ON THE INSIDE COULD NOT BE REMOVED THUS MAKING DRIVING VERY HAZARDOUS. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE PROBLEM RESOLVED ITSELF BUT REOCCURRED EVERY YEAR OR TWO. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM RECENTLY DURING THE LAST FAILURE (2/6/2011) AND FEEL STRONGLY THAT THE INTERMITTENT FAILING PART IS THE BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROLLER, PART NUMBER XW1H-19E624-AB. FORTUNATELY, THE MOTOR AND BLOWER WILL OPERATE (FOR NOW) AFTER I HIT IT A COUPLE TIMES WITH A HAMMER. SEVERAL WEB SITES DESCRIBE THIS PART INCLUDING PHOTOS. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION. IF THIS ITEM HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AS A SAFETY ISSUE, I THINK IT SHOULD BE.
ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PLASTIC ENGINE INTAKE MANIFOLD. 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS BEGAN TO HESITATE; THE DEALER SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE NYLON INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. FORD HAS HAD MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS DEFECT. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS BETWEEN 5 AND 10 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE PREVIOUSLY PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT TOOK OFF HE KEPT BRAKING BUT THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T STOP AND DAMAGED THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. UPDATE 05/22/07*TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DEACTIVATED MANUALLY OR DEACTIVATED BY APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THIS WAS BY PRESSURE IN THE CRUISE CONTROL LINE. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THIS PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO BRAKE REPAIR WORK PERFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR MAINTENANCE TO REPLACE A VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE, THE SERVICE DEALER NOTED THAT BOTH UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE WORN. THERE WERE NO IMMEDIATE REPAIRS MADE TO THE BALL JOINTS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE REVVED FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED PREVIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD ONE ACCIDENT ABOUT 2.5 YEARS AGO WHEN THE VEHICLE HIT A DEER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THEN THAT THERE WERE NO ENGINE PROBLEMS AFTER THE ACCIDENT, ONLY DAMAGE TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING PARKED, THE ENGINE HAS SURPASSED 5000 RPMS.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING THE SEAT BELT, THE RETRACTOR MECHANISM LOCKED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BUCKLE THE SEAT BELT. THE DEALER INDICATED THE SPRING IN THE RETRACTOR MECHANISM WAS BROKEN AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THERMOSTAT WAS LEAKING. THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILED AND FELL INTO THE THERMOSTAT AFTER THE REPLACEMENT. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE SENSOR COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR AREA WHICH WAS REPAIRED WITH A SEALING SOLUTION AND THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE PLASTIC INSIDE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS DETERIORATED. THE DEFECT WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY UNDER RECALL. LAST SATURDAY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. THERE IS A RECALL, #00V138000 CONCERNING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER HOWEVER; THE RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER RECALL 00V138000 CONCERNING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL MODULE IN AUGUST 2000. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL MODULE. THE PROBLEM RECURRED. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE REPAIRS WILL BE MADE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE.*AK
THE BLOWER MOTOR ON MY GRAND MARQUIS LS BECAME INOPERATIVE. AFTER TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM, MY SERVICE PROVIDER DETERMINED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROLLER WAS THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY PROCEEDED TO ORDER A NEW ONE, AND WERE INFORMED THAT THIS ITEM WAS ON NATIONWIDE BACKOREDER AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHEN A NEW ONE COULD BE OBTAINED. THIS TELLS ME THAT THERE MUST BE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF GRAND MARQUIS AUTOS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE FOGGING OF THE WINDOWS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER AND NO MEANS TO CLEAR THEM. IF THIS MODULE HAS AN EXCESSIVE FAILURE RATE, THE ITEM SHOULD BE PLACE ON A RECALL LIST.
2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS ENGINE SHUT DOWN CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A SHORT IN SPARK PLUG. *TS THE SHORT OCCURRED IN THE SPARK PLUG ON THE #4 CYLINDER. THIS CONFUSED THE POWER CONTROL MODULE WITH SIGNALS IT WAS RECEIVING FROM THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO COMPENSATE WHICH AFFECTED OTHER SYSTEMS AND A SORT OF CHAIN REACTION OCCURRED. *NM
CRUISE CONTROL WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO....SOME DAYS IT WILL WORK, OTHER DAYS IT WON'T...ALSO HAD PROBLEM WITH SIGNAL LIGHT BLINKING FASTER AT TIMES THAN AT OTHERS...HAD THAT PARTICULAR PROBLEM FIXED BY CHANGING THE "LIGHT MODULE" FOR $500...NOW ITS THE CRUISE CONTROL...ONE MORE PROBLEM AND I'M SELLING THE CAR....*AK
2000 MERCURY MARQUIS HAS A DEFECTIVE STEERING GEAR BOX. *MR THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BUSHING IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX THAT PUT A BINDING MOTION ON THE STEERING MECHANISM. THE BINDING ACTION WAS OVERRIDDEN BY POWER ASSIST ON TURNS, BUT NECESSITATED THAT THE POWER ASSIST BE USED TO COMPLETE THE RETURN AFTER THE TURN WAS COMPLETED. *SC
CONSUMER 2000 GRAND MARQUIS BRAKES RE-LINED AND REAR ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT 17000 MILES. *TS *JB
HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE BATTERY SYSTEM WILL WEAR DOWN. *AK
THE CARS STARTED MISSING AND RUNNING ROUGH EVEN AFTER HAVING A COMPLETE TUNE-UP AND AFTER ABOUT WEEK LATER IT STARTED ALL OVER AND WAS TAKEN INTO THE MERCURY DEALERSHIP THAT FOUND THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT OUR EXPENSE, WHICH WE JUST RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL REGARDING A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE FOLLOWED UP AND FORD NEEDS TO REFUND ALL EXPENSES DUE TO THE CUSTOMERS. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS SITUATION, WE ALSO HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAD TO HAVE HIS REPLACED. THANK YOU
THE INTAKE MANIFOLD DEVELOPED CRACKS. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE COOLANT LEAKED ONTO THE COILS THAT CONNECT TO THE SPARK PLUGS, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE AND SKIP CYLINDERS. *AK
WIINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY.
TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION, VEHICLE HARD TO SHIFT. *BF THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD SUDDENLY KNOCKING THE CONSUMER TO THE GROUND. THE CONSUMER WAS HOLDING ONTO THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE AND WAS DRAGGED ON HIS STOMACH ABOUT 50 FEET. THE CONSUMER DISLOCATED HIS SHOULDER AND SEPARATED MUSCLE AND TENDON AS WELL AS NERVES FROM THE ROTATOR CUFF. THE DRAGGING ALSO INFLICTED NUMEROUS CUT ON THE CONSUMERS STOMACH AND LEGS. *NM
WHEN TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS (65-70 MPH) OR GREATER AN UNBEARABLE NOISE/ VIBERATION JUST AT THE BACK OF THE HOOD AND LEADING EDGE OF WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE MAKES DRIVING A NIGHTMARE. TOOK TO DEALER AND MERCURY HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. DEALER NOR FORD/MERCURY WILL MAKE REPAIRS. NEW PARTS TO CORRECT CONDITON COST IN EXCESS OF $100.00 . *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND THE LIGHTS CUT OFF. CONSUMER STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, AND THE LIGHTS CAME ON. THEY CONTINUED TO SHUT OFF AND ON AT LEAST FOUR MORE TIMES BEFORE THE CONSUMER COULD DRIVE HOME.*AK *TC

SEAT BELT WARNING ALARM GOES OFF WHILE PARKED AND WARMING ENGINE. NO ONE IN CAR.PROGRAMABLE NOT TO GO OFF WHEN SET. PROGRAM LOOSES MEMORY WHEN COOL WEATHER SETS IN. HAS HAPPENED THE LAST THREE YEARS . WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. WHY DOES IT NOT HAPPEN IN WARM WEATHER?*AK
VEHICLE WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED SHAKING. THEN, LOST ITS TRACTION CONTROL, AND CAUSED THE LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD TO TURN OFF. THIS EVENTUALLY LED THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF, AND THE DRIVER LOST STEERING. TAKEN TO DEALER FOR A CHECKUP, BUT THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE CAUSE WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK CAR SHUDDERED, FOLLOWED BY ENGINE SHUT DOWN RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. *BF *NM
THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION FAILED. *NM THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD DRAGGING THE CONSUMER 50 FEET COMING TO A STOP AS IT HIT THE CURB. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED NUMEROUS INJURIES. THE VEHICLE SHIFT LEVER WAS STILL IN PARK. *TC *JB

WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED. AFTER WAITING FOR A LITTLE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN FOR A WHILE BEFORE IT STALLED AGAIN. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND.*AK

THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON WHEN THERE IS NO ONE IN THE VEHICLE AND NO KEY IS IN THE IGNITION. NO OTHER LIGHTS COME ON. *JB

WHILE BEING PARKED THE HEADLIGHTS WILL INTERMITTENTLY COME ON AND OFF WITHOUT A KEY BEING IN THE IGNITION. CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER CHANGED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. HOWEVER, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY WENT OUT. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH.
WHEN EVER THE CAR IS DROVE WITH ITS LIGHTS ON BRIGHT, AFTER 5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE LIGHTS START TO FLICKER AND EVERY THING IN THE DASH GOES OUT ALONG WITH THE LIGHTS, WHICH LEAVES YOU IN TOTAL DARKNESS, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. SO FAR THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES FROM THIS, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENS AND HOW IT CAN BE CORRECTED? THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH THE DIMMS ON WHILE DRIVING...
THE WIPER CONTROL MODULE FAILED IN A BLIZZARD, AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHAT BOTHERS ME THE MOST IS THAT THIS WIPER CONTROL MODULE WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. I COMPLIED WITH THE RECALL AND HAD THE MODULE REPLACED. BUT IT'S OBVIOUS TO ME THAT FORD EITHER DID NOT REPLACE THE PART OR JUST PUT ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART INTO MY CAR. WHAT GOOD IS A RECALL IF THE REPLACEMENT PART IS ALSO DEFECTIVE? THE SPECIFIC RECALL WAS 00S09 MAY 2000 RECALL - WIPER CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT MY SITUATION WAS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. THE WIPERS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING IN HEAVY SNOW (THUS HEAVY LOAD ON THE WIPERS). AGAIN, A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *LA
THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TO 60 MPH. THE CONSUMER PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL TO SLOW IT DOWN. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE GARAGE THE RPM(S) WERE COMPLETELY OPEN. THE IDLE VALVE WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED.
I OWN A 2000 GRAND MARQUIS WITH 41,000 MILES AND HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVE HAFT. I WAS GETTING NOTICABLE VIBRATION ABOVE 65. DRIVE SHAFT WAS BENT. VIBRATION IS GONE BUT THERE IS SOME LOW LEVEL NOISE FROM THE REAR END. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS THE GEARS.*AK I ALSO OWN A 1999 GRAND MARQUIS WITH THE SAME OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT AS THE 2000. THE 1999 HAS 71,000 MILES AND RUNS SMOOTH AND QUIET.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING FILTER FOR THE AIR VENTS IN THE VEHICLE. FORD STATED THAT THERE WAS NO VACUUM IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM IN ORDER TO FILTER THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
