THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT WHILE DRIVING ON A 2 LANE BACK ROAD AT 30 MPH. ALSO, THE JACK BROKE IN HALF WHEN VEHICLE WAS BEING JACKED UP TO REMOVE THE BLOWOUT TIRE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH DOWN AND ALMOST SEVER THE CONSUMER'S LEG. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND REQUESTED THAT THE CONSUMER SEND THE JACK TO THERE CORPORATE OFFICE. *AK
WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
AIR CONTROL VALVE FAILURE. THIS ITEM NOT COVERED BY MY 90,000 MILE WARRANTY. WHY NOT? SHOP SAID AN ITEM THAT CONTROLS BRAKING JAMMED CAUSING THE BRAKES IN THE FRONT BRAKES NOT TO RETRACT AFTER RELEASING PEDAL THEREFORE DESTROYING CALIPERS PADS & ROTORS. THIS ITEM NOT COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY EITHER. WHY NOT?
WATER IS LEAKED INTO THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEN IT RAINED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMERS WIFE LOSS CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND HIT THE RAILS ON BOTH SIDES. THE VEHICLE HEADED INTO A DITCH ON THE LEFT SIDE, THE CONSUMER YANKED THE WHEEL TO SEND THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT BUT INSTEAD THE WENT ACROSS TWO LANES AND SLAMMED INTO THE MEDIAN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE CONSUMER WAS WORKING THE ELECTRONIC PASSENGER SEAT CONTROLS AND THE CONSUMER WANTED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS ANY CONNECTION. *AK *SCC THE MECHANIC CLAIMED THE BALL JOINT FAILURE CAUSED THE ACCIDENT, THE BALL JOINT HAD NO GREASE. *JB
CONSUMER STATES WHILE USING HEADLIGHTS AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION HEADLIGHTS FLICKER FROM HIGH TO LOW, AND THE AC RUN FAST AND SLOW. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK *CB
AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER WHILE DRIVING. THE AIR CONDITIONER MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED NOISE IN THE GEAR BOX. THE TECHNICIAN PACKED GREASE ON THE RIMS AND UNDER THE WHEEL COVERS. THE BATTERY FAILED AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. *AK *CB *NLM
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING THE VEHICLE STALLED *AK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT SPEEDS OF 35 TO 55 MPH, IT HESITATED AND SURGED 4 TO 6 TIMES IN A ROW. IT FELT LIKE CONSUMER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THEN ON. *PH. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER WAS BAD, AND THE WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
WHEN DRIVING ON A WET SURFACE VEHICLE SNATCHES ITSELF FROM SIDE TO SIDE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THE STEERING BELT CAME OFF THE VEHICLE. *NLM PH *JB
THE FUEL TANK WAS KNOWN TO EXPLODE DURING IMPACT CRASHES.*JB *TT
THE REAR CENTER SEAT BELT OF MY 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUE IS DEFECTIVE. WHEN A CHILD SEAT IS BELTED THERE, THE SEAT BELT STRAP GRADUALLY SLIDES LOOSE THROUGH THE LOCKING DEVICE. THE SEAT BELT APPEARS SECURE AT FIRST, BUT IT GRADUALLY LOOSENS AS THE WEIGHT OF THE CHILD SEAT ROCKS AGAINST IT. THE BELT LOOSENED COMPLETELY AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING, AND WOULD HAVE BEEN USELESS IN A CRASH. FORTUNATELY, WE DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM BEFORE ANYONE WAS HURT. WE WENT TO DUDDIE FORD OF NORTHBOROUGH, MA ON 1/29/03 AND PRESENTED THE PROBLEM.
DT: THE CONTACT HAD TO REPLACE FUSES APPROXIMATELY EVERY THREE TO FOUR DAYS. THE DEALER SAID IT MAY BE THE CLOCK SPRING, BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO CONFIRM THE PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED. THE CONTACT REPORTED THAT THE CONDENSER WENT OUT AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. *AK
THE VEHICLES HEAD GASKET FAILED AND CAUSED AN OIL LEAK . THIS COULD RESULT IN WATER AND OIL MIXING AND TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. *NLM
2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS LS VIN [XXX]. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE CAR STALLED AND COULDN'T BE STARTED UNTIL PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN TOWED AND REPAIRED AT THE MERCURY GARAGE, THE ONLY CAUSE WAS A DEFECTIVE #8 CYLINDER COIL/PLUG ASSEMBLY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT FORD HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR COIL/PLUG FAILURES. A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THIS THE #7 COIL/PLUG ASSEMBLY SHORTED OUT BUT IT DID NOT CAUSE THE CAR TO SHUT DOWN. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD RECALL 2000 MERCURYS AND REPLACE ALL 8 OF THE COIL/PLUG ASSEMBLIES. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. IT WAS MY 3RD GRAND MARQUIS AND MY LAST. CONSUMER STATES HAVING PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE GAS PEDAL WHICH IS BELOW THE BRAKE PEDAL ABOUT TWO INCHES. MAKING A FRACTION OF SECOND YOU CAN CONFUSE THE GAS OR THE BRAKE PEDAL. DEALER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
THE BRAKE LINE RUNNING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE ABS MODULE IS A TWO PIECE LINE AND LEAKS. THERE IS A STEEL BRAIDED FLEX LINE RUNNING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH IS CRIMPED ONTO A HARD LINE (STEEL TUBING). THE CRIMPED JOINT LEAKS AND DRAIN THE MASTER CYLINDER OF FLUID, CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKING IN EITHER THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM MY WIFE LOST THE FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM WHILE OUT ONE EVENING. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS OFF WARRANTY, THE DEAL OFFERED TO SPLIT THE COST OF THE REPAIR. DT
CONSUMER LOST CONTROL AT 35 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD, VEHICLE HIT A TREE, THEN BURSTED INTO FLAMES. CONSUMER SUFFERED MINOR HEAD INJURIES, VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. CAUSE OF FIRE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. *AK WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER HAD MET ANOTHER DRIVER GOING SOUTH IN THE MIDDLE AND TRIED TO MISS THE OTHER VEHICLE AND LOST CONTROL. THE CONSUMER RAN INTO THE WOODS AND HIT TWO SMALL TREES AND THE VEHICLE THEN CAUGHT FIRE, WHICH STARTED UNDER THE WHEEL OF THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE CONSUMER WENT INTO THE WINDSHIELD AND INJURED HER FOREHEAD/HEAD AND NECK. *SCC
CONSUMER STATES THE LIGHTS ON THE INSIDE OF VEHICLE ILLUMINATED AND WOULD NOT GO OFF TILL HOURS LATER. ONE MONTH AGO THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT FOR A SECOND AND CAME BACK ON. ONE MONTH LATER CONSUMER WOKE UP AND HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHT ON AND NO ONE HAD BEEN IN CAR. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHTER INFORMATION. NLM
WHILE TRAVELING AT 25 DRIVER IN FRONT SLAMMED ON BRAKES, ALSO CONSUMER SLAMMED ON BRAKES AND VEHICLE TOOK TOO LONG TO STOP.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS AN ON GOING HUMMING/VIBRATION NOISE SINCE 10 MILES TO THE PRESENT MILEAGES, WHILE DRIVING FROM 20 MPH OR MORE. VEHICLE BEEN TO THE DEALER ON SIX OCCASIONS AND THE PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. MR
WHILE ROUTING TIRE NOTICED GAS LEAKING FROM FILLER PIPE.IN A REAR END ACCIDENT IT COULD OF CAUSE A FIRE. CONTACTED DEALER. REPLACED SEAL.*AK
ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF TIRE FAILED AND BLEW APART, SEPARATING FROM THE EDGE OF THE TIRE WHICH BINDS TO THE RIM. NO EVIDENCE OF A PUNTURE IN THE TREAD PORTION OF THE TIRE. INSIDE OF TIRE HAD DELAMINATED IN SEVERAL PLACES. *AK (TIRESIZE: P22560SR16)
ALSO AT 45 MPH THERE IS A FRONT END SHIMMY. ONLY AT THAT SPEED. NOTHING FRIGHTENING BUT WONDER WHY, WILL IT OCCURR AGAIN LATER AT INCREASED MILEAGE. MY BIGGEST COMPLANT IS THE NOISE COMING IN LEFT SIDE FROM EITHER FRONT OR REAR DOOR. HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER FOUR TIMES AND WE LIVE APPROX. 40 MILES ONE WAY WHICH IS THE CLOSEST DEALER. I BELEIVE SOMETHING COULD BE DONE IF THEY HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A WIND TUNNEL TESTING STATION. THEIR ATTITUDE HAS BEEN GOOD BUT NO CORRECTIONS. VERY DISGUSTING FOR NEW CAR. I AM READY TO DISPOSE IF NECESSARY. I HAVE A GOOD SOUND SYSTEM FOR NO AVAIL.
SINCE NEW, THE VEHICLE HAS HAD BRAKE ISSUES. AFTER ABOUT ONE MONTH, THE BRAKES CONSTANTLY SQUEALED ON APLICATION, DEGENERATING INTO A HARD CONTACT RUMBLE CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO VIBRATE. THE DEALER HAS SERVICE THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES AND REPLACED THE BRAKES TWICE. AFTER EVERY REPAIR, THE ISSUES RE-APPEAR. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER OF DOWNTOWN LINCOLN MERCURY TO "ROLL UP MY WINDOWS AND TURN UP THE RADIO". THERE IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE BRAKES AND/OR THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE THAT FORD DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY REPAIR.*AK
HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM TO BE DRIVING AT NIGHT.*AKTHE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THE HEADLAMPS ARE NOT ADEQUATE FOR NIGHT DRIVING, THEY ARE VERY DIM AND DON'T GO THE DISTANCE. NLM
WHILE DRIVING IN A RESIDENTAL NEIGHBORHOOD, SUDDENLY & WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE LEFT SIDE MIRROR FELL OUT OF THE MOUNT & BROKE. I ALSO HAVE KNOWLEDGE NOW OF THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO 2 OTHER PEOPLE. ONE DRIVES A FORD TARUS & THE OTHER DRIVES A MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS.*AK
AT 1000 MILES CAN HEAR THE LIFTERS WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY PUT A FILTER IN CAR TO KEEP OIL IN LIFTERS,. BUT, THIS WAS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM, JUST COVERING IT UP. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE TURNING, STEERING WOULD NOT RETURN BACK TO CENTER, DEALER REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP. *TT
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH STARTED TO CHANGE LANES, AND NOTICED ANOTHER VEHICLE IN SAME LANE, AND SWERVED BACK TO THE RIGHT. AS SOON AS SHE TURNED WHEEL TO RIGHT SHE LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, IT WENT ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO LEFT, AND HIT A TRACTOR TRAILER HEAD-ON . AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY. CONSUMER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. CONSUMER STATED IT FELT LIKE VEHICLE WAS ON ICE. PRIOR TO THIS, WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP, VEHICLE WAS HARD TO CONTROL. INSURANCE WILL SEND AN INVESTIGATOR, VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT THE AMOUNT OF MOVEMENT SHE MADE TO RETURN TO THE OTHER LANE WAS NOT EXTREME, HOWEVER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SPUN TO THE RIGHT CAUSING HER TO STRIKE THE SIDE OF A FLATBED TRACTOR TRAILER. *SLC
BRAKE SYSTEM TOTALLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MPH GOING DOWN A HILL DUE TO FAILURE OF MASTER CYLINDER. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH MADE A SUDDEN STOP WITH ENOUGH SPACE IN FRONT, BUT ABS BRAKES DID NOT WORK OR HOLD AND VEHICLE KEPT COASTING, CAUSING A REAREND ACCIDENT.*AK THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE. *YH
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE IS A SQUEAKING NOISE. PADS NEED TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP MECHANIC SPRAYED SOME LUBRICATION ON BRAKES, BUT THERE IS STILL NOISE. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE APPROACHES 50+ MPH WINDSHIELD BEGINS TO VIBRATE VERY LOUDLY. VIBRATION LASTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 15-20 SECONDS. DEALERSHIP IS LOOKING AT PROBLEM, BUT AS OF YET FOUND NOTHING OR SEEN DEFECT OCCURRING. *AK THE DEALER RESEALED THE WIND SHIELD AND REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW AS WELL. *YH

WHILE CRUISE CONTROL IS ACTIVATED IT WILL TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. IN ONE CASE TROTTLE OPENED AND DRIVER HAD TO TURN OFF VEHICLE, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. *AK THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TEN TIMES. *YH
WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT FULLY DEPLOY, JUST HALF WAY. *AK
CONSUMER HEARS HUMMING IN LEFT FRONT DOOR AREA WHILE DRIVING, DEALER CAN NOT FIND PROBLEM, CONSUMER REMOVED AND REPLACED THE PAN GASKET FLUID AND DRAINED AND FLUSHED THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THIS SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *SLC
SOMETIMES WHILE TURNING STEERING WHEEL WILL GET LOCKED INTO PLACE. CONSUMER FEELS THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE THERE IS TOO MUCH PRESSURE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL LOCKING SYSTEM.*AK *SLC
SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL STEERING GETS LOCKED INTO PLACE. MECHANIC TOLD CONSUMER THERE WAS TOO MUCH PRESSURE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL LOCKING SYSTEM. IN AN EMERGENCY WON'T BE ABLE TO START CAR. *AK
ON FIRST LONG TRIP IN NEW CAR, EXPERIENCED A LOUD VIBRATION COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD WHENEVER APPROACHED 70 MPH. RETURNED TO DEALER THAT OCTOBER, 2000. RETURNRD THE VEHICLE TO DEALER IN DEC, 2001 WITH SAME NOISE. DEALER SAID HE COULD NOT REPEAT NOISE. TOOK BACK IN A WK LATER. SAME RESPONSE, COULD NOT REPEAT. STILL CONTINUES, OFF & ON TO VIBRATE LOUDLY AT 70 MPH. HAVE ALSO NOW INCURRED PAINT STARTING TO BUBBLE ON ROOF OF CAR. *AK
POWERSTEERING FLUID LEAKING/GEAR BOX REPLACED TWICE/ PITMAN ARM/ POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED, AND STEERING WHEEL HAS TOO MUCH PLAY, TO DEALER 4 TIMES, CANNOT REMEDY STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM. *AK *SLC
WHEN MAKING A SLOW LEFT TURN STEERING COLUMN RATTLES. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. DEALER CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM.*AK *YH
PASSENGER'S SIDE SEATBELT TIGHTENS UP AROUND STOMACH WHILE DRIVING, AND DRIVERS SIDE DOES NOT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
UNABLE TO REMOVE LUG NUTS FOR THE FIRST TIRE ROTATION AS STUDS OR LUG NUTS WERE STRIPPED. *AK
RUMBLING AT 60 MPH. DEALER CONFIRMS SYMPTOM WITH UNKNOWN CAUSE. MANF. CONFIRMS SYMPTOM WITH UNKNOWN REPAIR. BOTH SAY VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. QUESTION: IF CAUSE IS UNKNOWN, HOW CAN I BE SURE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE?
THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR KEPT FALLING DOWN HINDERING DRIVERS VISION. NLM
EDURING A 500 MILE TRIP ON 7/24 IN THE RAIN WITH LIGHTS ON THE CONTROL BUTTONS ON THE AIRCONDITE\EATER CONTROL PANEL GOT VERY HOT. I WOULD TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND THE PANEL WOULD COOL DOWN. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM AT YOU 1-800-392-3673 ON 7/29. I'VE HAD THE AUTO TO CRANBERRY DEALER AND DEMOR'S IN PITTSBURGH AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE. I'VE ALSO SENT A LETTER TO FORD AND E-MAILED NHTSA 9/24 REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP.!!!!!*AK
