THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. THEY WILL THEN GO BACK ON AFTER AN INDETERMINATE PERIOD OF TIME. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHETHER THE LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH ON THE DASH IS ON AUTOMATIC OR NOT. THIS MAY HAPPEN ANY NUMBER OF TIMES EVEN DURING A SHORT TRIP. THE PROBLEM IS THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE FOR WHICH FORD HAS A NEWLY DESIGNED PART, BUT NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE YOUR LIGHTS GO OUT AND LOSE ALL FORWARD VISIBILITY, ESPECIALLY ON A RAINY NIGHT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON SUCH AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS GS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ACTIVATED AND UNEXPECTEDLY THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. IMMEDIATELY, THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED. THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL DEVICE WAS TURNED MANUALLY WHILE DRIVING IN ORDER FOR THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TO OPERATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE08066 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: HEADLIGHTS) WHICH WAS CLOSED IN MARCH 24, 2009. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I'M NOW 3 FOR 3 FAILURES WITH THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE ON MODEL AND YEAR CAR. INITIAL FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74000, CURRENT MILEAGE 75500. INTERMITTANT LIGHTING FAILURES. PROBLEM IS NOW SO BAD CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN MORE THAN 10-15 MINUTES AT NIGHT BEFORE LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE. I'VE REPLACED THE LCM ON ONE 2003 CROWN VIC, ONE 2003 MERC, AND NOW OUR OTHER 2003 MERC. OTHER NIGHT, I ALMOST HIT DEER A/C I HAD NO LIGHTS! THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED, BUT MUST BE SOON, AS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ESCALLATING. AS JUNK YARDS ARE OUT OF PARTS LOCALLY (I DO NOT USE PART 3W7T-13C788-AH AS THAT IS THE DEFECTIVE ONE! I USE AG - EVERYTHING WILL WORK BUT MAP LIGHTS AND THIS LCM WILL NOT FAIL.) I WILL HAVE TO LIKELY GET ONE OUT OF THE AREA. SO, MY EXPERIENCE ON THIS VEHICLE/YEAR IS 100% PART FAILURE. SOMEHOW, I THINK MY SAMPLE SIZE OF 3 IS STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT! *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED AND SUDDENLY FLICKERED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIGHT CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DETAIL REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39.416.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PERSONAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LIGHT CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. 2003 MERC MARQUIS LOW BEAM LIGHTS WENT OUT AT 60MPH UNLIT RURAL ROAD. ALMOST CRASHED HAD I NOT RAISED HIGH BEAM LEVER ON STEERING COLUMN. LOW BEAM OPERATES INTERMITTENTLY. DIAGNOSED AS ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILURE. ESTIMATED REPAIR COST $700. IF NO RECALL, SOMEONE WILL DIE. *KB

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR SPORADICALLY AND THE LIGHTS WOULD RE-ILLUMINATE AFTER SEVERAL MOMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN GRADUALLY LUNGING FORWARD SPORADICALLY UNTIL IT BECAME HARDER FOR THE CONTACT TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE PRESSURE WAS RELEASE FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELERATED AT FULL FORCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 162,000.

HOW WILL A RECALL TAKE PLACE WHEN VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL ARE NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED ? THERE'S NO INCENTIVE. PROBLEM IS STILL IN PART NUMBER 3W7C-1788-AH FOR 2003 MODEL YEAR. MILEAGE AT FAILURE WAS 86850. "FOUND" BY HAVING SOMEONE ELSE FLASH THAT MY LIGHTS WEREN'T ON ON WAY HOME FROM EVENT. THEY WERE ON WHEN CAR STARTED. WAS 10 MILES FROM HOME AT A LATE DUSK, MADE HOME W/O INCIDENT. ALSO HAVE ANOTHER 2003 MERCURY AND I GUESS I'M WAITING FOR IT TO FAIL TOO! (PERHAPS I SHOULD GET THE PART NOW?) 2003 FORD SOLD TO FRIEND. PART ACQUIRED (AG LETTERS- STAYING AWAY FROM AH - SAME PART WITH FAILURE IN BOTH OUR 2003'S) FROM JUNKYARD - FIRST 5 APPROPRIATE CARS WERE MISSING THE LCM - AND A GUY IN THE FIELD ASKED IF WE WERE LOOKING FOR A LCM? SEPT '10 DRIVING TO WORK AT 530 AM ON A RURAL ROAD, NO STREET LIGHTS, DOING SPEED LIMIT 60 MPH HEAD LIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT OFF, HEADLIGHTS DASH LIGHTS AND PARKING LIGHT.. REPLACED HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE. LIGHTS WORKED GOOD UNTIL JUNE 2ND 2011.. STARTED CAR UP WITH AUTO HEADLIGHTS ON LIGHTS SHOULD HAVE COME BUT ONLY PARKING LIGHTS. I PULLED BACK ON TURN SIGNAL STALK HIGH BEAMS WORK..IF I PUT THE REGULAR HIGH BEAMS ON NO NOTHING..SLAPPED UNDER DASH NEAR THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE AND LIGHTS STARTED WORKING. NOW I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER MODULE..IF FORD WAS PAYING FOR IT THEY WOULD FIND A FIX FOR IT..TIME FOR A RECALL.. *TR

FRONT HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT STAYING ON AT NIGHT. THE SENSOR SEEMS TO BE FAILING OR WHATEVER CONTROLS THE HEADLIGHTS. WHEN I AM DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LIGHT WILL COME ON AT DUSK, BUT SOMETIMES WITHOUT AN WARNING THEY WILL JUST POP OFF. FOR THIS REASON, I AM FEARFUL OF DRIVING AT NIGHT OR IN ANY HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS

I OWN A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND QUICKLY PROGRESSED TO TURNING OFF AND NOT COMING BACK ON AT ALL. I REPLACED THE DASHBOARD HEADLIGHT CONTROL AND THEY WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN THEY STARTED TURNING OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING BUT IF I FLICKED MY HIGH BEAMS THEY WOULD COME BACK ON FOR ABOUT 15 MIN OR SO AND GO BACK OFF. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS OF THAT THEY JUST QUIT WORKING AT ALL. ONCE AGAIN I REPLACED THE DASHBOARD SWITCH TO NO AVAIL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND THAT HE WOULD BE REPLACING THE COMPONENT HIMSELF. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE CAR JUST WENT OUT. IT HAPPENED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY AT RANDOM TIMES. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE ( LCM ) .HE STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR MY GRAND MARQUIS AND CROWN VICTOIAS THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN FATAL FOR MY FAMILY AND I IF WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING AT NIGHT AT THE SPEED LIMIT.

THE CONTACT DROVE ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR THE LIGHTS TO FUNCTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PURCHASED A HEADLIGHT CONTROL SWITCH FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND REPLACED THE PART HIMSELF. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 115,000.
I OWN A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS AND THE HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY DECIDE TO WORK OR NOT WORK. MOST TIMES THEY WORK FOR 3-5 MINUTES AND THEN JUST GO OUT.. THE RUNNING LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS STILL WORK. THE ONLY WAY TO SEE IS TO MANUALLY HOLD THE HIGH BEAM LIGHT IN POSITION WHILE DRIVING. *TT

I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT YET, BUT ON THE INTERNET FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR STORIES AND BELIEVE IT IS THE LIGHT CONTROL MODULE. I AM SHOCKED THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL BASED ON ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS, I'M GLAD I WASN'T ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO ME! WHILE DRIVING AT DUSK ON MY WAY HOME (WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL!), MY HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING! WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT SEVERAL DRIVERS IN THE ONCOMING LANE WERE CONCERNED AND CONSCIENTIOUS AND FLASHED THEIR HIGH BEAMS TO SIGNAL THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. DEDUCTIVELY, I RULED OUT MY LIGHTS BEING OFF BECAUSE THE SWITCH WAS ON. THAT WAS UNTIL THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED AND I SAW NO REFLECTION ON THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME! I FLIPPED THE SWITCH OFF THEN BACK ON AGAIN TO SEE IF IT WAS A BAD CONNECTION IN THE SWITCH OR PERHAPS IT WAS BETWEEN POSITIONS AND WOULD POSSIBLY WORK IF I REPOSITIONED IT. NO GOOD! UGH, THE LIGHT WENT GREEN! I NERVOUSLY PULLED AT THE BRIGHT LIGHT SELECTOR TO SEE IF THEY WORKED! JUST IN TIME TO BARELY MISS THE SUV THAT OBVIOUSLY DID NOT SEE US!!! I DID NOT LET IT GO UNTIL WE WERE SAFE AT HOME!!! PHEW!!! I GUESS NOW WOULD BE THE TIME TO CHANGE MY PANTS! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

WHILE MAKING A TURN AT AN INTERSECTION IN MY 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS I FELT A POP IN MY STEERING WHEEL ,WHICH TOTALLY LEFT THE STEERING WHEEL SPINNING FREELY IN MY HANDS. IT TURNS OUT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL. IT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROADS OR ON THE INTERSTATE AND YOUR LIGHTS GO OUT AND YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING. THE LIGHTS USUALLY REMAIN OFF FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES OR SO. MERCURY NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAPPENS (IF ONE HASN'T ALREADY). *TR

AT 15,000 MILES, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WITH CONCERNS OF THE NOISE. AGAIN, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. AT 23,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE REAR AXLE, BEARINGS, SEALS AND THE WHEEL SHAFT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE DID NOT PERSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

THE POLICE APPEARED ON THE SCENE AND THE DRIVER WAS REPORTED INJURED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO A HOSPITAL. FACTS: I OWN A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS THAT HAD TOTAL HEADLIGHT FAILURE WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. ALTHOUGH I RAN OFF THE ROAD I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER WITH NO DAMAGE/INJURY/LOSS OF LIFE BECAUSE I WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE ROAD/THE CAR/AND SADLY, PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH TOTAL HEADLIGHT FAILURE IN A PREVIOUS VEHICLE (2001 DODGE DURANGO). ONCE I STOPPED I CHECKED ALL OBVIOUS THINGS FOR FAILURE (BATTERY/FUSES/ETC) BUT SOON REALIZED I HAD PARKING LIGHTS/TURN SIGNALS/SIDE MARKER LIGHTS/DASH LIGHTS/TAIL LIGHTS/AND EVEN BRAKE LIGHTS...EVERYTHING EXCEPT HEADLIGHTS. I TRIED THE HIGH-BEAM POSITION AND NO LUCK THERE EITHER - UNTIL I PULLED THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH TOWARD THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE "FLASH" THE HIGH-BEAM POSITION. I CONTINUED TO HOLD THE SWITCH IN THIS POSITION AND DRIVE WITH MY HIGH-BEAMS ON FOR THE FEW MILES I HAD LEFT TO MY DESTINATION. ONCE HOME I TURNED VEHICLE OFF GATHERED MY TEST EQUIPMENT AND BEGAN MY TROUBLESHOOTING JUST TO FIND OUT THAT NOW EVERYTHING WORKED AS ADVERTISED. THAT HELD TRUE FOR APPROX. 1500 MILES ' OR ABOUT 2 MONTHS (WITH INITIAL FAILURE AT APPROX 31,000 MILES) WHEN HEADLIGHTS FAILED AGAIN; AND NOW THEY EVEN FAIL INTERMITTENTLY AT ANY TIME TO INCLUDE DAYLIGHT HOURS. MY TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) IS THE CAUSE OF FAILURE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, MY INVESTIGATION REVEALED THIS IS A KNOWN FAILURE...BY LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE...TO INCLUDE YOU PEOPLE OF THE NHTSA. MY ANALYSIS TELLS ME THAT THE FAILURE IS PROBABLY NOT MILES RELATED BUT MORE LIKELY USAGE RELATED SINCE MY 31+ YEARS (AND COUNTING) IN THE MILITARY TAUGHT ME TO DRIVE WITH MY HEADLIGHTS ON 24/7/365 IN THE SEE AND BE SEEN PHILOSOPHY'ADD THE FACT THAT I CURRENTLY HAVE 34,000 MILES WHERE MOST HAVE A LOT MORE. OPINION: A 3RD GRADER COULD HAVE DONE THE RESEARCH TO IDENTIFY THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND AN 8TH GRADER COULD MAKE THE DECISION TO RECALL THE CARS FOR TOTAL HEADLIGHT FAILURE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND FLAMES EXCESSIVELY IGNITED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WERE TWO BYSTANDERS WHO EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH BOTTLES OF WATER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND A REPORT WAS FILED WITH NO PERSONAL INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ALTERNATOR. THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,073.
I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING OR NOT TURNING ON AFTER I HAVE THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. ALL THE OTHER EXTERIOR LIGHTS WORK AT THIS TIME. I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN I HAD IT IN AUTOMATIC LIGHTS BUT NOW IT HAPPENS WHEN I TURN THE LIGHTS ON MANUALLY TOO. SOMETIMES IF YOU MOVE THE BLINKER SWITCH AROUND THEY WILL COME BACK ON BUT OTHER TIMES THEY WON'T. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE HOLDING THE THE BLINKER ARM BACK TO HAVE THE BRIGHTS ON SO I CAN MAKE IT HOME. IT STARTED IN JUNE AND HAPPENED VERY INTERMITTENTLY BUT NOW 5 MONTHS LATER IT IS HAPPENING EVERY TIME I DRIVE AT NIGHT.

MY 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS BEGAN EXPERIENCING HEADLIGHT FAILURE OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS, WITH BOTH LOWER BEAMS RANDOMLY GOING OFF AND THEN AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OR HOURS COMING BACK ON. OTHER INTERNAL LIGHTS AND LIGHT SENSORS CONTINUED TO WORK NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON AN UNLIGHTED ROAD AT NIGHT, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION, UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD OR OTHER CARS SEEING ME COMING. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE08066 DESCRIBES A SIMILAR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD IN THE LIGHT CONTROL MODULE (LCM), RESULTING IN SEVERAL THOUSAND WARRANTY CLAIMS. IN FACT, THIS HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE THE DEFECTIVE PART ON MY CAR, WHICH HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED BY A FORD DEALER AT A COST OF $511.07 FOR THE LCM PLUS $184.97 LABOR AND TAX. FORD ADVISES ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN, BUT OBVIOUSLY IT HAS DEVELOPED THE SAME PROBLEM. AN UPGRADED PART LCM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED BY FORD FOR REPLACEMENT. I BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS EARLIER FOR REPLACEMENT SO I WOULD NOT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE ODI INVESTIGATION WAS CLOSED 3/24/09. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE REOPENED AS DEALERS TELL ME THAT THEY REPLACE "LOTS" OF THESE MODULES. I HAVE RETAINED THE DEFECTIVE LCM FOR ANALYSIS. *TR

I TRIED TURNING THE SWITCH ON THE DASHBOARD TO THE HEADLIGHT POSITION BECAUSE ORIGINALLY IT WAS ON THE SENSOR POSITION, BUT THEY DIDN'T COME BACK ON. NO MATTER WHAT I DID, THEY REMAINED OFF. FROM THAT NIGHT ON, MY HEADLIGHTS WORK SPORADICALLY. SOMETIMES THEY'LL COME ON RIGHT AWAY AND THEN GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES THEY'LL COME ON IN THE DAYLIGHT WITH THE SWITCH IN THE OFF POSITION. IT'S VERY SCARY WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING DOWN A BACK COUNTRY ROAD WHERE THERE'S NO STREET LIGHTS AND YOUR HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET LIGHT WAS TO HOLD BACK ON THE HIGH BEAM LEVER. THAT WAS WEIRD TOO BECAUSE THE HIGH BEAMS WOULDN'T WORK WHEN I PUT THE LEVER IN THE ON POSITION, ONLY WHEN I PULLED BACK ON THE LEVER WHICH PUTS THE HIGH BEAMS ON FOR AS LONG AS YOU HOLD THE LEVER. ONE NIGHT I DROVE FOR ABOUT 5 MILES AND THE HEADLIGHTS STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME. THERE'S JUST NO KNOWING WHEN THEY'RE GOING TO WORK, AND IF THEY DO, HOW LONG THEY'LL STAY ON. I UNDERSTAND IT'S GOING TO BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT I DON'T HAVE $800 SO HAVEN'T HAD IT REPAIRED YET. I JUST DON'T DRIVE AFTER DARK, WHICH IS VERY INCONVENIENT! *TR
