Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)I WAS STOPPED IN A HIGHWAY TURN LANE, WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO PASS IN ORDER TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, WHEN HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE REAR WINDOW ON THE LIFT GATE SUDDENLY SHATTERED AND EXPLODED OUTWARD FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, WITH MOST OF THE GLASS ENDING UP ON THE ROADWAY. THIS OCCURRED IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON ON A WARM BUT NOT HOT DAY (TEMPS WHERE PROBABLY IN THE LOW 80S).
REAR GLASS HATCH EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT OUTSIDE. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW ON MY 2005 MERURY MARINER EXPLODED. THERE WAS A LOUD BOOM AND THE WINDOW EXPLODED INTO SMALL PIECES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCURY MARINER. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE POLICE STATED THAT A ROCK OR BULLET DID NOT CAUSE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE CHANGE IN WEATHER MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. AS OF NOVEMBER 23, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 26,000.
BACK GLASS ON MERCURY MARINER SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. *NM
THE REAR WINDOW AND DOOR WERE CLOSED, I PULLED INTO THE GARAGE, STOPPED, HEARD A CRACKING NOISE, STARTED TO BACK UP A FEW INCHES, THEN THE REAR WINDOW BLEW OUTWARD COVERING THE DRIVEWAY IN GLASS. *JB
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
