Driving downhill after dropping my children off at school heard a loud popping noise and brake pedal fell to the floor. Total loss of brakes. Coasted to the side off the road narrowly avoiding busy intersection. Vehicle was looked at by mechanic, traced to faulty ABS Sensor. Serious safety hazard— Recall must be issued immediately to prevent accidents and injuries!
Brake pedal went to floor on my 10 Mariner, slid into intersection, no warning lights came on, checked for any fluid leaks and there were none. This is 2nd time it has happened and is extremely dangerous! Believe, like others that it is the ABS control. Ford should fix this immediately!
WHEN PULLING UP TO HOME TO PARK ALONG STREET AND BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE.HEAR A LOUD NOISE AND BRAKE MESSAGE POPPED UP ON DASHBOARD. BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO FLOOR. PULLED EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP VEHICLE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO CAR DOCS IN ROCKLIN CA WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE ABS MODULE (AND OTHER MODULE FAILURE). THEY STATED THAT THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN ON OLDER FORD/MERCURY HYBRIDS, AND THEY WERE SURPRISED THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL.
MY BREAK PEDDLE GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR WHEN I COME TO A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. I'VE BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 4 SEPERATE OCCASIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY BREAKS. I RECENTLY BROUGHT TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED BUT I'M STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POSITION OF THE BREAK WHEN I COME TO A STOP. THERE ARE SEVERAL OWNERS ON LINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND GET BACK WITH ME?
BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" INTERMITANTLY OCCUR. BRAKES SEEM TO WORK NORMALLY. RESTARTING THE CAR TEMPORARILY FIXES THE PROBLEM, ONLY TO OCCUR AGAIN IN SEVERAL MILES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS AT ANY TIME, STANDING OR IN MOTION.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
