"TAKATA RECALL" - 16V-384 I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER NOTICE IN JULY OF 2016 AND CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. I HAVE INQUIRED TWICE SINCE AND JUST CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN WHO SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART AND TO CALL THE FORD HELPLINE. I JUST GOT OFF THE FORD HELPLINE AND THEY SAID THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND I WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER WHEN THE PART IS AVAILABLE. I DID EXPRESS TO FORD THAT I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS AND WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS. THE PERSON ON THE FORD HELPLINE WHO IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AS "EDDIE" SAID THAT FORD HAD DECIDED THAT THERE WAS NO DANGER AND THEY HAD NOT HAD ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONING SO THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE ACCORDING TO FORD. I INQUIRED AS TO WHY ONLY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS RECALLED AND NOT THE DRIVER AIRBAG OR THE SIDE AIRBAGS. HE SAID THOSE OTHERS MAY BE FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER. I THINK THAT THIS HAS TAKEN TOO LONG AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY CAR. WHAT IS BEING DONE BY THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE TAKATA CORRECT THIS PROBLEM???
THE CAR WAS RECALLED ON JUN 01,2016 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER16S26 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER16V384 SUMMARY THE FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR OF MY CAR COULD RUPTURE IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO ME AND MY WIFE SINCE WE DRIVE THIS CAR EVERYDAY. (THIS DEFECT REPORT IS IN RESPONSE TO TAKATA DIRS 16E-042, 16E-043, 16E-044.) AFTER THE WHOLE YEAR, I HAVEN'T HEART ANYTHING FROM THE MANUFACTURE AT ALL. I ALSO CALLED THEIR LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT OFFER ME ANY ASSISTANCE AT ALL. IS THE MANUFACTURER GOING TO SIT ON THE RECALL UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS ON ME AND MY WIFE?
RECALL WAS SENT JUNE 2016 AND HAVE FOLLOWED UP WITH FORD DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE AIR BAG TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ONE. MY WIFE A CANCER SURVIVOR AND HAS A PILLOW THAT SHE PLACES IN THE FRONT OF HER BODY WHEN I DRIVE TO PROTECT THE SURGERIES SHE HAS DONE SO THAT THERE IS NOT SEVERE INJURIES IF IN AN ACCIDENT OR THE AIR BAG DEPLOYS ON ITS OWN
TAKATA RECALL. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 06/01/2016. FORD CANNOT FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART. NOW WE HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE THAT TAKATA IS BANKRUPT. SO WE ARE LEFT WITH A VEHICLE WHICH NO ONE CAN RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DEATH WORST CASE SCENARIO! DO YOU WANT TO PUT A FAMILY MEMBER IN THAT SEAT AND ROLL THE DICE!! SOMEONE NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A FIX NOW. CAN FORD NOT DISMANTLE THE AIR BAG TO NOT RELEASE AS A TEMPORARY FIX UNTIL THE PART COMES IN? AT LEAST THIS WOULD BE BETTER FOR THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE SO THE SEAT COULD BE USED. NOT TO MENTION, SAFER! OH, BUT THAT MIGHT COST SOMEONE $ AND EVEN THOUGH IT IS THEIR FAULT, THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE IS WORTH THE RISK RATHER THAN LOOSE THE $....WHAT A SAD COUNTRY WE ARE LIVING IN. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND COMPANIES CANNOT COME UP WITH A FIX! I AM SHOCKED THAT FORD HAS NOT GOTTEN MORE INVOLVED THAN THEY HAVE SINCE THEY WILL BE THE ONES WHO WILL BE SUED IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS. THEY MADE THE VEHICLES AND ARE THEREFORE RESPONSIBLE. NO ONE REALLY CARES WHO MADE THE AIRBAGS. FORD SHOULD STEP UP AND MAKE THIS RIGHT.

TAKATA RECALL - WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AT LEAST A YEAR TO HAVE THE AIR BAGS REPLACED. WE HAVE JUST CHECKED AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH 2 OF OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERS AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO REPLACEMENTS AVAILABLE. WE LIVE IN COASTAL CA -- WARM/HUMID -- SO WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT IS TAKING SO LONG. DO WE JUST HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT? THIS DOESN'T SEEM LIKE TIMELY REPLACEMENT. THANK YOU.
SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE JUNE 1, 2016 RECALL OF THE TAKATA AIRBAG, I HAVE GONE TO BOTH FORD AND LINCOLN DEALERSHIP TO GET IT REPAIRED. I ALSO HAVE FOLLOWED UP WITH CALLS ON MANY OCCASIONS. IT IS NOW DEC. 2017 AND I SPOKE WITH THE FORD CORPORATION TODAY AT 800-392-3673 AND THEY TOO SAY I STILL MUST WAIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A REMEDY FOR AN UNKNOWN TRANSMISSION RECALL THAT WAS NOT PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER THE RECALL. SAFETY RISK THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR COULD RUPTURE IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHERE THE SUPPLEMENTAL FRONTAL AIRBAGS ARE DESIGNED TO DEPLOY. REMEDY OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO HAVE THEIR PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACED. THE LUG NUTS CAME APART AFTER ABOUT 50,000 MILES. ALL 20 LUG NUTS ON MY VEHICLE CAME APART. THE OUTER, CHROME COVERS SEPARATED FROM THE NUT. THIS DEGRADATION OF THE METAL AFFECTS THE INTEGRITY OF THE NUT AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR INJURY IF THE NUT(S) WORKED THEIR WAY OFF OF THE WHEEL(S). I FIRST NOTICED THE CONDITION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WAS ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE WHEELS.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CODE FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM INDICATED TO INSPECT THE FUEL TANK AND VMV VALVE. AN EVAPORATION TEST WAS ALSO PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,006.
"TAKATA RECALL" ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE THEN THE CHECK ENGINE STARTED FLASHING REALLY FAST THEN STOPPED. I MADE IT AS IT AS FAR AS MY STREET THEN THE CHECK POWER STEERING/ ADVANCED TRAN WARNING FLASHED AND AS I TURNED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GAVE OUT AND FLASHED SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR AND I AM MAKING PAYMENTS NOW I HAVE TO FIX MY POWER STEERING. WOW

TAKATA RECALL . WE WERE NOTIFIED YEARS AGO, STILL PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG NOT REPLACED. NOW FORD IS TELLING US NOT LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. FORD HAD IGNORED ALL OUR CORRESPONDENCE. IT'S REDICULOUS, WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT.
I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES TO FORD MOTOR CO AND MY FORD DEALERSHIP, GORSH IN HEMET CA WHO SAY "THEY DON'T HAVE ANY" AND NHTSA FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE LETTERS TO PROVE IT. AS OF 6/15/18 NHTSA STATES ON THEIR WEBSITE "...REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE." WHAT? WHEN WILL I GET MY AIRBAG? MY FRIENDS, GRANDCHILDREN AND FATHER NEED AN AIRBAG? MY 8+ YEARS IS LONG ENOUGH TO WAIT. SO HERE'S ANOTHER COMPLAINT. IT'S TIME FOR YOU - NHTSA RECALL #16V384 AND MFG. RECALL # 16S26 OF 06-01-16 TO BE HEARD IN COURT AND GET MY AIRBAG ALONG WITH ALL OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN WAITING ON TAKATA. EVERY TIME I SEE THIS SUBJECT ON TV AND JUST RECENTLY HEARD ANOTHER CAMPAIGN CALL "OPERATION FIND & FIX" IS ALL WELL AND GOOD AND THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO BE ON THE MANUFACTURERS SIDE... AND, SAY "GET YOUR CAR/S IN PEOPLE AND REPLACE THOSE AIRBAGS THEY CAUSE HARM AND DEATH!" DAH!!! IT'S NOT USUALLY 'US'. WE CAN'T GET THE DARN AIRBAGS! THERE NOT AVAILABLE! TOOK CAR IN TO FORD DEALER FOR SERVICING PER RECALL 15S34 ON 4/27/16. DEALER NOTIFIED ME THAT BRAKE LIGHTS ARE; "....STUCK ON WHEN PARKING LIGHTS OR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON -- THEY WORK IF HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF ....". (SEE NOUGHTON FORD AURORA, CO INVOICE # FOCS418452). THIS IS A HAZARD!!!!!
MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER IS HAVING THE SAME LIGHTING PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT. THE TAIL LIGHT LED'S ARE GOING OUT ONE BY ONE. MY SON THE POLICE OFFICER JUST POINTED THIS OUT TO ME. HE NOTICED THIS AFTER FOLLOWING ME HOME THE OTHER NIGHT. I AM READING THAT THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. IT IS THE LEFT TAIL LIGHT NOW, BUT I GUESS THE RIGHT WILL EVENTUALLY GO TOO. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE BOTH OF THE FRONT HEAD LIGHTS REPAIRED. MY LOCAL MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO DO THIS FOR ME AT A FAIRLY REASONABLE COST. AFTER I HAD TO HAVE THE EXPENSIVE LAMP BULBS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. A RECALL ON THE REAR LIGHTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
"SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" LIGHTS APPEARED WHILE DRIVING AND NOTHING SEEMED TO BE WRONG AT THAT TIME AND THEN TURNED BACK OFF. TURNED CAR OFF AND PARKED FOR OVER AN HOUR. STARTED THE CAR THE LIGHTS FLASHED BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE 2011 MERCURY MILAN IS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THE ONLY WAY TO EVEN HAVE THIS COVERED IS TO PAY A FEE FOR THE CAR TO BE DIAGNOSED UNDER THE RECALL AND HAVE IT SENT IN TO THE SPECIAL SERVICE SUPPORT CENTER. THEY MAY NOT COVER THE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH ALL THE OTHER RELATED VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I AM STILL PAYING ON MY CAR AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FORK OVER $2000 FOR THIS TO BE REPAIRED WHEN OTHERS DON'T HAVE TO PAY A DIME FOR THE SAME EXACT THING.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 MILAN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE ROAD. AFTER TRYING FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MIN I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND DRIVE IT HOME. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER IT DID THE SAME THING AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. BOTH TIMES I NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING REARENDED.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (15V-793) FROM FORD IN JANUARY 2016 ABOUT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE, VAPOR CANISTER, GAS TANK, AND POWER CONTROL MODULE ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY DID AN ELECTRONIC TEST AND SAID IT WAS OK. ONE MONTH LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE PRIOR RECALLED CANISTER PURGE VALVE. FOUR DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE CODES AGAIN SAID IT WAS THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE. THIS TIME THE DEALER DID AS I ASKED THEM AND MECHANICALLY CHECKED THE VALVE, AND DISCOVERED THAT IT AND THE VAPOR CANISTER HAD FAILED. HOWEVER, FORD WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. IS THIS ALLOWED? I WILL MAIL A LETTER WITH MORE DETAIL. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, THIS PARTICULAR VALVE COMMONLY FAILED BY STICKING OPEN OR CLOSED AND THE ONLY WAY TO DETECT IT, WAS TO DO A MECHANICAL TEST BY TAKING THE HOSES OFF AND CHECKING FOR PRESSURE OR VACUUM. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN IN AN INTERSECTION THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED ON THE CAR. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 15MPH AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. UPON INVESTIGATION I HAVE FOUND THAT THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED ON THE 2011-2012 MERCURY MILAN WITH THE SAME PART AS THE PROBLEM (STEERING MOTOR SENSOR) THAT RESULTED IN A RECALL FOR THOSE MODEL/YEARS. AS IT IS THE SAME PART IT SHOULD FALL UNDER THIS SAME RECALL, HOWEVER IT DOESN'T. THIS PART IS CONTAINED WITHIN THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AT A COST OF $1800-$2000.
