TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. AFTER RETURNING FROM DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED, BUT THE DOOR HANDLE WOULD NOT SUCCESSFULLY RELEASE THE DOOR FROM THE LOCKED POSITION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CRAWL OVER TO ANOTHER DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,624.
AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT A RURAL INTERSECTION I LOST POWER STEERING. I WAS GOING LESS THAN 20 MPH, TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT FOR MY JOB. A WARNING LIGHT STATED "SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM" AND "SERVICE ADVANCTRAC". AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE WARNING MESSAGE CHANGED TO SAY "SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW". IT'S GOING TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM.
JERSEY CITY FORD SERVICE DEPART REPORTS THE HYBRID HARNESS BURNT OUT AND KILLED MY BATTERY. $900 FOR THE HARNESS, $185 FOR THE 84 MONTH BATTERY. THE CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD AND I'M REPLACING THE HARNESS? THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A CAR PORT. WHEN I TRIED STARTING THE CAR THE PATS SYSTEM ACTIVATED, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CALLED TODAY, THE HYBRID HARNESS AS TO BE SHIPPED FROM DETROIT. THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED UNDER ANY NORMAL USE....EVER. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING WHEN IT FAILED I WOULD HAVE LOST ALL POWER, STEERING, BRAKES, AND ABILITY TO CONTROL THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, GOING STRAIGHT AND ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, AT APPROXIMATELY 55 M.P.H., CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE. VEHICLE MALFUNCTION AND ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 40-45 M.P.H. ON LEVEL GRADES AND 20 ON SLIGHT INCLINES.MANAGED TO RETURN CAR HOME. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON 10/26/2015.WHEN VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT DID NOT TURN ON AND ONLY THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. CAR ACTED NORMAL ON TRIP TO DEALER. TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT FORD HAS EXTENDED COVERAGE ON THIS PART FOR 10YEARS AND 150,000 MILES. FORD BULLETIN 13NO3. WAS TOLD BY FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HYBRIDS WERE NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PART NUMBER.THE COVERAGE WAS BASED ON WHERE THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AND WHO THE PART SUPPLIER WAS. OH REALLY? THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT SPECIFIC PART WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE PART BIN AND INSTALLED? THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO COVER ALL THE VEHICLES EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEM.OR DOES IT TAKE A LARGE INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE NUMBER TO GET THIS TO HAPPEN. FROM WHAT I AM SEEING, THERE ARE PLENTY OF HYBRIDS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
WENT TO TAKE MY CAR OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. WENT TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED! COULD NOT TURN WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT! AT THE SAME TIME THIS HAPPENED A WARNING SIGN POPPED ON MY DASHBOARD SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT POWER STEERING FAILURE. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. 2010, 11 AND 12 MODELS ARE ALL HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM! ONLY ONE THEY RECOGNIZE AT THE MOMENT HAVING A PROBLEM IS THE 2011 BECAUSE APPARENTLY MORE PEOPLE NEED TO GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT OR KILLED WITH THE 2010 AND 12 MODELS BEFORE THEY RECALL THEM! I AM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT AND FEEL FORTUNATE I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IN A PARKING LOT! I HOPE THE "INVESTIGATION" THEIR WORKING ON GOES BY QUICKLY BEFORE ANYONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT!
WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY WHEN THE STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AS I WAS CHANGING LANES. EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER AND ALMOST CRASHED SEVERAL TIMES DRIVING TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS SOMETHING RELATED TO A FAULT IN THE STEERING RACK, AND ASKED $6,000 TO REPLACE IT, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 110,000 MILES ON IT.

I JUST WENT IN LESS THEN 3 MTHS AGO AND HAD THE THROTTLE BODY PCM CALIBRATION UPDATE, BAM STARTING AGAIN. ENGINE RE-STARTED WITHIN 12 MINUTES, RAN ROUGHLY FOR A FEW MINUTES, THEN CLEARED, RAN OK; (5) OCTOBER 7, 2015: 1315, ENGINE SHOOK THEN DIED TWO BLOCKS AFTER LEAVING CAR WASH ON CENTRE STREET, QUINCY, MA, WRENCH LIT. NARROW STREET. LIT THE HAZARD FLASHERS, EXITED CAR. AFTER 15 MINUTES RE-ENTERED CAR WHICH STARTED AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS; (6) OCTOBER 7, 2015: 1405: WITHIN A BLOCK AFTER LEAVING OUR HOUSE, THE CAR ENGINE AGAIN BLUBBERED THEN DIED, WRENCH LIT. PULLED TO THE CURB, SAT FOR FIVE MINUTES. CAR WAS RESTARTED. THREE TIMES I HAVE BROUGHT MY MILAN TO OUR LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE GURU WHO ATTACHED HIS SCANNER AND CONFORMED 2111 CODE AND 2112 CODES (2). I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM ENTERPRISE SALES RENTALS AT 24,000 MILES, NOW 58,000 MILES. NEVER HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OF ANY TYPE. RESEARCH INDICATES A NUMBER OF TSBS RELATED TO THROTTLE BODY ISSUES BUT NO NOTICE FROM FOMOC OR LOCAL DEALER. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR BEING KILLED IN THIS CAR. HOW TO GET THE CAR PROPERLY REPAIRED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THERE WAS A REDUCTION IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE STEERING SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND I COULD NO LONGER STEER. MESSAGES SAYING SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND POWER STEERING FAILURE WERE DISPLAYED. I CHECKED THE FLUIDS AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, I SAW THAT THE 2011 MILAN WAS ALREADY UNDER RECALL ALONG WITH MANY OTHER FORD MODELS. THE 2010 MILAN NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL AS THE ISSUE ALSO OCCURS WITH THIS MODEL. THIS IS DEFINITELY GOING TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS I DO NOT HAVE $2000 TO GET THIS FIXED AND I HAVE NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO DRIVE WITHOUT POWER STEERING UNTIL THE RECALL GOES THROUGH.

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND A LIGHT CAME ON WHICH I HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE AS WELL AS TWO CONSOLE MESSAGES THAT READ "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC." MY STEERING BECAME NOTICEABLY HEAVIER AS I DROVE AND THEN COMPLETELY LOST POWER STEERING AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT AND SLOWLY WITH GREAT EFFORT I WAS ABLE TO ANGLE THE CAR INTO A PARKING SPOT. THERE WERE NO NOISES. I TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A NEAR BY AUTO SHOP AND THEY DIAGNOSED A FAULTY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND QUOTED ME $1750 FOR REPAIR.
WHILE AT COLLEGE MY SON CALLED AND SAID THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN HIS CAR. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP WHICH REFERRED ME TO A DEALER SINCE THEY WHOLE STEERING GEAR SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE COMPUTER WOULD HAVE TO BE PROGRAMMED. THIS IS GOING TO BE BETWEEN 1800-2500 REPAIR. I FOUND THIS SITE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A MODEL WIDE ISSUE. I AM HOPING THAT THE RECALL ON THE 2011 AND 2012 WILL BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE 2010.
STEERING DOES NOT TURN. IT CAME WITHOUT WARNING. I TURNED ON THE CAR TO GO TO WORK TO FIND OUT IT DOESN'T WORK. CAN'T TURN LEFT AND CAN'T TURN RIGHT . IT IS VERY VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S BEEN LIKE THIS FOR ALMOST A MONTH. THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I HAVE AND I'M AFRAID I MIGHT CRASH GOING TO WORK ALL BECAUSE OF THE STEERING WHEEL NOT WORKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ON SATURDAY MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THERE WAS A MESSAGE SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES BEFORE AND WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURN BACK ON THE MESSAGE GOES AWAY AND I HAVE POWER STEERING BACK. THIS SATURDAY WAS NOT THE CASE, THE WARNING DIDN'T GO AWAY AND THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR AND IT WOULD COST AROUND $1800. I'VE RESEARCH THE RECALLS AND FOUND A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. IN FACT THE 2011 MILAN HAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE!
THE VEHICLE SPORADICALLY LOSES POWER AND THE "WRENCH" LIGHT GOES ON INDICATING A SUPPOSED ENGINE PROBLEM. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE ENGINE PERFORMS NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THIS SPORADIC FAILURE OCCURS. IT HAS REPEATED ITSELF SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS, AND THE TROUBLE CODE THAT HAS BEEN LOGGED IS P2112, WHICH RELATES TO A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. FORD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERING SEVERAL MODEL YEARS AND MODELS (INCLUDING 2010 MERCURY MILANS) WITH THIS STYLE THROTTLE BODY, AND THE WARRANTY REPORTEDLY COVERS THE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT UP TO TEN YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. FOR SOME REASON, EVEN THOUGH MY CAR USES THE SAME THROTTLE THROTTLE BODY AS OTHER AFFECTED MILANS, MY VIN NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, THOUGH IT SHOULD BE. NOW IT SEEMS THAT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT TO GET FORD TO COVER THIS REPAIR/REPLACEMENT DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM ON OTHER, VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL, VEHICLES. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION AND ENGINE AND THROTTLE/POWER TRAIN INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. HAD TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AT 40 MPH, BUT THE INDICATOR LIGHTS REMAINED ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UPON RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER SEIZED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE A GAS STATION AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY TIGHT AND UNDRIVEABLE. AFTER TWO CALLS WITH FORD AND RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT THE 2011 MILAN HAS A RECALL BUT NOT MY 2010 MILAN. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THEN MY GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND HAD NO POWER. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS SHAKING. I SHUT OFF THE CAR. LET IT SIT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND IT STARTED UP SLOWLY. RAN FOR ABOUT 10 MILES AND DID IT AGAIN AT 35 MPH. PULLED OVER SHUT OFF CAR AND WAITED(AS A POLICE OFFICER PULLED UP TO MY CAR). STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND MADE IT TO OUR CAMPSITE. WE WERE 3 HOURS FROM HOME. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I ENDED UP AT O REILLY AUTO PARTS AND FIXED THE THROTTLE BODY IN THE PARKING LOT. HAS BEEN RUNNING SLIGHTLY ROUGH SINCE THIS HAPPENED. THEN THIS MORNING(3 WEEKS LATER) I STARTED THE CAR AND THE RADIO AND INFO ON IT DOES NOT WORK. STILL WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM. ANY THOUGHT WOULD BE HELPFUL. I THINK IT IS TIME TO GET RID OF THE MERCURY AND GO BACK TO CHEVY.
THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING OR PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AT ALL. I JUST STARTED THE CAR FOR WORK AND IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED "POWER STEERING ASSIST" AND ADVANCTRAC. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER A MINUTE WITH NO CHANGE. I REPEATED THIS SEVERAL MORE TIMES LENGTHENING THE TIME INTERVAL WITH NO CHANGE. I TRIED THE NEXT MORNING AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEIR EVALUATION THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS THE POWER STEERING GEAR AND WOULD NEED A TOTAL REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $2200.00. IN 40 YEARS OF DRIVING I HAVE NEVER HAD A POWER STEERING ISSUE, PERIOD. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM ON SIMILAR VEHICLES BUT NOT MINE. I AM WRITING TO REPORT THAT THE CURRENT FORD RECALL DOES NOT ENCOMPASS ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE INTERSTATE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER AND DROPPED TO AROUND 1000 RPM NO MATTER IF I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR OR NOT. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY A SEMI AND THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY LANE FOR ME TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO. IT COSTED FOR ABOUT 3/4 OF A MILE UNTIL I COULD PULL BEHIND SOME ORANGE BARRIERS. AFTER SHUTTING IT OFF AND CALLING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. I TOOK BACK ROADS HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY WHILE GOING 65 ON THE INTERSTATE IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT I WAS PREPARED FOR A PROBLEM AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO AN EMERGENCY LANE TO TURN THE CAR OFF. IT RESTARTED FINE AND DROVE FINE AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN IT HAPPENED AT 20MPH ON A CITY STREET. THE DEALER HAS HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS NOW AND HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 35-40 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST POWER. ALTHOUGH I SUBSEQUENTLY HAD THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE REDUCED ITS SPEED DRASTICALLY AND COULD NOT EXCEED ABOUT 10 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND THE WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A PARKING LOT AT VERY LOW SPEED AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, IT WAS RESPONSIVE FOR ABOUT TWO BLOCKS AND THE SAME SYMPTOMS REAPPEARED. THIS TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. FORTUNATELY, I WAS A FEW BLOCKS FROM A FORD DEALER. I VERY CAREFULLY WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT A VERY SLOW UNRESPONSIVE SPEED TO THE DEALER.THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT FORD INFORMS ME IT DOES NOT FALL UNDER THEIR CUST. SATISFACTION #13N03 EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. ALTHOUGH IT IS THE SAME SYMPTOMS, SAME YEAR, SAME MODEL, SAME DIAGNOSTIC CODE, SAME FAILURE AND SAME PART FIX AS THE VIN'S THAT ARE COVERED IN THIS PROGRAM. FORD CANNOT TELL ME (OR SHOULD I SAY 'WILL' NOT TELL ME) WHY MY VIN IS NOT COVERED IN THEIR 'SATISFACTION' PROGRAM. THIS WAS A $400 REPAIR.
PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. THE REPLACEMENT LED ASSEMBLY COSTS UPWARDS OF $400 TO REPLACE. LED BULBS SHOULD HAVE A LIFE SPAN OF >10 YEARS. SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE NHTSA LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY PART.

THE BASIC WARNING SYSTEMS STILL FUNCTIONED. AT A SERVICE VISIT TO MY FORD DEALER, THE COMPUTER CODES WERE READ AND SYSTEM REBOOT WAS PERFORMED. AS THE DEALER INVOICE STATES, IF LIGHT COMES BACK ON WILL NEED PARKING AID MODULE AND SPEAKER $567.00 PLUS TAX. DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALER THAT DAY, THE WARNING LIGHTS DID COME BACK ON, AND A WEEK LATER, THE TWO SYSTEMS STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER, LEAVING JUST THE CONSTANT BACK AND FORTH OF THE TWO WARNING LIGHTS. (THESE WARNING LIGHTS ALSO NEGATE THE DASHBOARDS COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE.) COOPER CS4 TOURING TIRES CONTINUED LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE ON ALL 4 TIRES. THESE TIRES HAVE BEEN DISMOUNTED AND REMOUNTED AT LEAST 3 TIMES TO RESEAL THE BEADS BUT AFTER A FEW MONTHS WILL START TO LEAK AIR. AIR LOSS IS APPROXIMATELY 3 PSI PER DAY. SIDE WALLS AND TREAD AREAS HAVE EXCESSIVE SURFACE CRACKING. ONE YEAR EARLIER ONE OF THE TIRES BLEW OUT AND WAS REPLACED WITH A COOPER CS5 TIRE BECAUSE THE CS4 WAS DISCONTINUED. THAT TIRE HOLDS AIR PERFECTLY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND HAS ALREADY LEAD TO A BLOW OUT.

SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING CLEARS THE ERROR MESSAGE. TWICE NOW WHILE DRIVING RIGHT AFTER START UP THE STEER MALFUNCTION ERROR CAME UP AND WITH IT WE HAD A LOSS OF POWER STREERING. BOTH TIMES WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE TO THE CURB, PUT IN PARK SHUT OFF AND RESTART AND NO PROBLEMS. WE WILL BE GETTING THIS TO THE DEALER BUT DON'T ANTICIPATE A FIX. THEY ONLY REPAIR WHEN THEY CAN DUPLICATE A PROBLEM AND THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT.

THIS HAS BEEN EXAMINED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO CONCLUDED THE CRACK IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND NOT THE RESULT OF ANY SORT OF ROAD DEBRIS OR ANYTHING STRIKING THE TANK. MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID WAS PURCHASED AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED IN MARCH 2013 IN FLORIDA. SINCE IT WAS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED AND IT WAS ALSO NOT REQUIRED BY FLORIDA TO HAVE ANY SAFETY INSPECTION, I NEVER PAID ANY ATTENTION TO ANY LIGHTS. IN APRIL 2015, I TOOK MY CAR FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION, WHICH IS A REQUIREMENT FOR A CAR TO BE REGISTERED IN VIRGINIA, SINCE I MOVED BACK TO VIRGINIA. THE CAR DID NOT PASS THE VA SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON ALL THE TIME. (I FOUND THERE WERE NUMEROUS POSTS ON THE INTERNET DESCRIBING THIS PROBLEM -- BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ON). THE ENTIRE LIGHT ASSEMBLY CAN ONLY BE BOUGHT FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT SINCE I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THE ASSEMBLY WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT WAS $365.54 (AFTER TAX). I LIKE TO LODGE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE FORD COMPANY ABOUT A RECALL ON THIS INFERIOR LIGHT ASSEMBLIES, AND MONETARY SUPPORT FROM FORD ON THIS ISSUE. I FEEL FORD SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND RECALL THE ASSEMBLIES.
