INITIALLY IT BEGAN AS REDUCED POWER TO THE ENGINE AND THE WRENCH/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. HOWEVER, AFTER THAT, I WOULD GET SURGES OF POWER TO THE ENGINE AND THE CAR WOULD JUMP FORWARD. THE CAR REMAINED DRIVABLE, BUT CLEARLY UNSAFE. I COULD NOT WITH ANY CONFIDENCE CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH I DO DAILY. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, I HEARD A CHIME NOISE I LOOKED DOWN AT MY DASH AND MY CAR SAID SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND SERVICE POWER STEERING. I NOTICED MY POWER STEERING WAS STARTING TO SLOWLY GO OUT. AS I REACHED MY DESTINATION, AND THEN STARTED MY CAR TO LEAVE, MY CAR NOW SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. AT THIS POINT MY CAR HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL, LEAVING ME STRANDED HOURS FROM HOME. *TR
REAR LED TAILLIGHT MALFUNCTIONS. COST TO REPLACE IS NEARLY $400.00. THIS SEEMS A VERY HEIGHT COST TO MAINTAIN A NECESSARY AND LEGALLY REQUIRED PIECE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT. *TR
THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. A ENGINE AND WRENCH ICON SHOWED UP ON THE DASH LIGHTS. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON 4 OCCASIONS. WHEN I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN, IT RAN FINE AGAIN. THIS WOULD BE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THIS OCCURRED WHEN I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO O'MEARA FORD AT 7:00 A.M. ON OCTOBER 13, 2014. THEY INDICATED THEY WERE LOOKING AT THE THROTTLE BODY AND WOULD NEED TO KEEP MY VEHICLE OVERNIGHT. *TR
THE TAILLIGHT FIXTURE ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN IS NOW BAD AND FORD WANTS $400 TO REPLACE IT. IT IS AN LED FIXTURE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BURNT OUT BY NOW. I CANNOT REPLACE THE BULB ON MY OWN, THE WHOLE FIXTURE MUST BE REPLACED. *TR
THE RIGHT PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT WENT OUT. THIS PART IS AN LED AND WAS $300 TO REPLACE. FORD SAID THIS WAS NO FAULT OF MY OWN. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE LIGHT WAS OUT. *TR
THIS IS ANOTHER DOCUMENTATION OF MANY OTHER OWNERS WHOSE BRAKE LIGHTS ON A 2010 MERCURY MILAN WERE NOT FUNCTIONAL WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE OWNER OR DRIVER, CAUSING POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS. DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS OR WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT COME ON AUTOMATICALLY, THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT WORKS NORMALLY AND THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT IS SPORADIC, NOT WORKING ABUT 70+% OF THE TIME. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT IS BRIGHTER AS IF THE BRAKE WAS ON AND THE BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT CHANGE INTENSITY. THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT GO ON BUT THE REAR LIGHT WORKS. THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT ALWAYS WORKS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON OR NOT. THERE IS NO INDICATION ON THE DASHBOARD THAT ANY LIGHT IS MALFUNCTIONING. I ONLY DISCOVERED THIS BY FOLLOWING MY WIFE HOME AFTER WE HAD OUR DAUGHTER'S CAR IN FOR SERVICE. I SINCE FOLLOWED HER FOR ABOUT 20 MILES ON ANOTHER DAY TO CONFIRM THIS SITUATION. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO QUICKLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES AND TWO DAYS LATER, AND $847 PAYMENT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, FOR NOW. *TR
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. WAS TOLD BY FORD DEALER ENTIRE SYSTEM MUST BE REPLACED. *TR
MY NEIGHBOR INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT IS OUT. IT IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITHOUT FULLY OPERATING BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. FORD HAS TO REPLACE A COMPLETE REAR LAMP MODULE WHICH INCLUDES OTHER REAR LIGHTS THAT STILL WORK, TO THE TUNE OF $300 TO$400. MY BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS OWNED 50+ CARS OVER MANY YEARS AND HE SAID HE HAS NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A BRAKE LIGHT. FORD SHOULD BE REPLACING THESE DEFECTIVE LED BRAKE LIGHTS AS A TECHNICAL/SAFETY RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE WHEEL STUD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V574000 (WHEELS). THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
NOTICED LEFT OUTER TAILLIGHT FLICKERING IN JULY 2014. LIGHT FINALLY WENT OUT. ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WAS CHANGED ON 9/1914. ON 9/9/14 NOTICED THE SAME FLICKERING. LIGHT HAS NOT GONE OUT YET BUT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. DEALER WANTS $114 JUST TO LOOK AT IT. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS MODEL. NEEDS RECALL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY ON 9/2, THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND STARTED SHAKING. WE HAD TO DODGE TRAFFIC TO LIMP OFF THE ROAD AND STOPPED THE ENGINE. UPON STARTING AGAIN, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS CLEARED AND WE HESITANTLY DROVE HOME. WE CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WERE TOLD THAT IF THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, TO NOT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND TO DRIVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY (9/3) MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ALONE AND THE WARNING CAME ON AGAIN, SHE LOST SPEED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING BADLY. SHE LIMPED AS SAFELY AS SHE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD SHE HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR THERE BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FOLLOWING DAY (9/4) WE WERE TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY (ETB) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BECAUSE WE NEEDED THE CAR FOR A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT AND BECAUSE THE CAR WAS "UNSAFE TO DRIVE", WE AUTHORIZED THEM TO REPLACE THE ETB. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, WE FOUND THAT THE ETB WAS EXACTLY THE SAME ONE THAT WAS PART OF THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION, WHICH INCLUDED THE ESCAPE/ MARINER HYBRIDS, BUT SURPRISINGLY DID NOT INCLUDE THE FUSION/MILAN HYBRIDS. TO PRECLUDE A MASSIVE RECALL, FORD LAUNCHED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM THAT BLATANTLY EXCLUDED THE FUSION/ MILAN HYBRIDS, EVEN THOUGH THEY USE THE IDENTICAL DEFECTIVE ETB. AS PART OF THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, FORD ISSUED EXTENDED WARRANTIES OF 10 YR/150,000 MILES FOR THE ETB. SINCE THE SAME DEFECTIVE ETB WAS USED IN THE 2010 FUSION/MILAN HYBRIDS, IT POSES THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE AS IN THE OTHER "COVERED" VEHICLES. AS SUCH, IT SHOULD BE FURTHER SCRUTINIZED BY THE NHTSA AND/OR SUBSEQUENTLY COVERED BY THE SAME FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. FORD CLEVERLY CONCEDED TO THE PROGRAM TO PRECLUDE A MASSIVE RECALL AND THEN BLATANTLY EXCLUDED 40,000 TO 50,000 FUSION/MILAN HYBRIDS, THAT ARE EQUALLY DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE. NHTSA, PLEASE HELP. *TR
MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID THREW THE WRENCH LIGHT TWICE LAST WEEK. BOTH TIMES, IT LOST NEARLY ALL POWER, AND I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY. MY FORD DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, FORCING THE VEHICLE INTO A SOFTWARE ENFORCED LIMP MODE. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THROTTLE BODIES IN MILANS, FUSIONS, AND OTHER VEHICLES HAVE BEEN COVERED BY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 FOR 150,000 MILES & 10 YEARS. FOR SOME REASON THE HYBRID MODEL HAS BEEN EXCLUDED FROM THE PROGRAM, INCLUDING A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM BECOMING DANGEROUSLY UNDERPOWERED IF THE OLD PART FAILED. I HAVE CALLED FORD TWICE, AND BEEN DEEPLY DISSATISFIED WITH HOW MY ISSUE HAS BEEN HANDLED. THEY SEEM TO HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY EXCLUDED THE HYBRIDS, PERHAPS IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT. THE DEALER HAS VERIFIED THAT THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED IS THE SAME EXACT PART BEING SUPPLIED FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. I PAID NEARLY DOUBLE AND TOOK A RISK ON BUYING AN EARLY FORD HYBRID. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 1/3 OF THE MILES AND IS ONLY HALF AS OLD AS MANY CARS WITH THE SAME PART THAT HAVE RECEIVED SOFTWARE UPDATES AND FREE REPLACEMENTS WHEN REQUIRED. MY DEALER HAS VERIFIED THAT THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED IS THE SAME PART NUMBER BEING REPLACED UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. IT IS DANGEROUS FOR FORD TO NOT NOTIFY HYBRID CUSTOMERS OF THE FAULTY PART, AND EVEN MORE DANGEROUS NOT TO ADDRESS IT VIA SOFTWARE AND IF NECESSARY REPLACEMENT, AS THEY HAVE DONE WITH MOST ALL OTHER CARS USING THE PART. *TR
WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT AS BRIGHTLY AS THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE BRING THIS TO MY ATTENTION BEGINNING IN APPROXIMATELY SEPT 2014. MY SISTER IN LAW FOLLOWED ME ONE NIGHT AND IT DROVE HER ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. I HAVE HAD MANY PEOPLE EXPRESS CONCERNS THAT I MAY GET STOPPED FOR THIS. I INQUIRED YESTERDAY AT THE FORD DEALER ABOUT GETTING THIS FIXED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WHOLE UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY ARE LED LIGHTS. APPROXIMATE COST IS $410 PLUS TAX. I SINCE HAVE LOOKED ON LINE TO INQUIRE ABOUT REPLACING IT MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR MERCURY MILANS AND FORD FUSIONS. *TR
TAIL LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED BRIGHT WHENEVER THE HEAD/PARKING LIGHTS ARE ON. HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS NUMEROUS TIMES EVEN BY TENN HIGHWAY PATROL. TOOK IT MTN VIEW FORD, MY REGULAR DEALER WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH UNDER PREMIUMCARE FOR THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE. THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH OF MY TAIL LIGHTS WHICH IS $375 EACH PLUS LABOR DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY WERE LED LIGHTS AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THIS VERY DISHEARTENING SINCE I SEE THAT THIS IS EVIDENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I GUESS FORD KNEW THAT THERE WOULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHTS AND EXCLUDED IT. I NEED THE NHTSA TO HAVE A RECALL ISSUED SO FORD WILL ADMIT THEIR PROBLEM AND MAKE IT RIGHT FOR THEIR CONSUMERS. THE APPROXIMATELY $1000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THIS IS UNREASONABLE WHEN A SIMPLE BULB CHANGE COULD HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. YES, I DID HAVE A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER MY WARRANTY BEFORE THE RECALL AND WHEN THE RECALL WAS ISSUED MTN VIEW FORD SENT ME A CHECK FOR MY $100 DEDUCTIBLE. I WONDER WHAT WILL GO WRONG NEXT. THE ONLY INJURY OR FATALITY DUE TO THIS IS MAY WALLET. *TR
WHEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE STEERING WAS JERKY AND STICKING. I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING "SERVICE POWER STEERING" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". TODAY, WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR, I HAVE THE MESSAGE SAYS "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND THE WHEEL WILL NOT TURN. *TR
MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN HAS TWO LIGHTING ISSUES NOT CAUSED BY CUSTOM LIGHTS OR BAD WIRING. THE FIRST IS MY DRIVERS SIDE TAIL LIGHT IS FULLY ILLUMINATED LIKE IM PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN I AM NOT. I TURN MY LIGHTS ON AND IT EITHER FLICKERS OR STAYS ON OR BOTH. I HAVE READ AT LEAST A FEW HUNDRED OTHERS COMPLAINING OF SOMETHING SIMILAR OR WORSE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE IT AND I CAN SHOW YOU A PICTURE IF NEEDED. NOW, THE SECOND IS....MOISTURE GETS INTO MY PLATE LIGHT COVERS CAUSING ONE LIGHT TO SHORT AND THE OTHER TO FLICKER. THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH ALL LICENSE PLATE LIGHT COVERS. I HAVE NOTICED ON THE 2010 FORD FUSION/FOCUS AND THE MERCURY MILAN MODELS THERE IS ALMOST ALWAYS ONE PLATE LIGHT OUT. TAKE NOTE THAT MY LENS COVER ISN'T CRACKED OR COMPROMISED IN ANY VISIBLE WAY. THOSE ARE THE TWO LIGHTING ISSUES I HAVE. ON SOME REPORTS READ I HAVE SEEN THAT FORD KNOWS BUT REFUSES TO REPAIR IT AND MANY OEM FACTORY LIGHTS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS A PROBLEM IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE L.E.D LIGHTS. PLEASE I URGE YOU TO INVESTIGATE THIS KNOWN ISSUE SO NOBODY GETS INJURED OR KILLED BY FAULTY TAIL LIGHTS. THANK YOU *TR
ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAIN ROAD AT 25MPH AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THE LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE DASH READ AUTOMATIC POWER STEERING FAILURE I COULD HAVE BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY GOING 65 AND CRASHED AND OR KILLED. I AM REPORTING THIS AS IT SHOULD BE RECALLED!!!! I ONLY HAD THIS CAR 11 MONTHS! I CAN FIX IT BUT AM NOW TOO AFRAID THAT SOMETHING ELSE WILL HAPPEN. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO FILE A LAWSUIT AS THIS HAD TAKEN A TOLD ON MY WELL BEING. *TR
VEHICLE HAD TWO THROTTLE BODY CODES AND LOST POWER IN TWO DAYS TOOK TO C&C FORD AND THEY WON'T CHANGE THE PART UNTIL THE CODE COMES UP AGAIN UNDER THE FORD REPLACEMENT POLICY DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE!! *TR
MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN ONLY HAS 18300 MILES ON IT AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE WHOLE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON CONTINUOUSLY WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE COST IS ALMOST $500.00. OBVIOUSLY THIS CAR. IS NOT DRIVEN A LOT. *TR
WE HAD OUR OIL CHANGES AND A SAFETY CHECK PERFORMED BY OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER IN ELMIRA, NY AND WE WERE INFORMED THAT WHEN OUR PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON THE RIGHT REAR (PASSENGER SIDE) TAIL LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AS IF THE BRAKE LIGHT WERE ON AND THE LEFT SIDE WAS A NORMAL ILLUMINATION. THIS I SAW AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COULD CONFUSE SOMEONE BEHIND THE CAR AND POSSIBLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND WONDERED WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING SO I WENT ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT I AM ONE OF POSSIBLY THOUSANDS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO. THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TAIL-LIGHT ASSEMBLY WHICH AT A DEALER WOULD COST BETWEEN $400.00 TO $600.00. THE TAILIGHT IS AN LED ASSEMBLY AND IN MY OPINION IT IS A FAULTY PART. IT POSES A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND BECAUSE FROM MY RESEARCH IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY AGE OR MILLAGE IS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND BE REPLACED WITH A RELIABLE UNIT. YEARS AGO ONE KNEW WHEN YOUR LIGHT WAS OUT OR YOUR TURN SIGNAL WASN'T WORKING AND IT WAS A CHEAP $2.00 FIX. I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE ONLY ONE LIGHT WAS BAD BUT WHAT IF BOTH LIGHTS WERE BAD I OR MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I KNOW THAT IT WAS A DEFINITE FAULT IN THE UNIT BECAUSE WHEN THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE NOT ON IT FUNCTIONED AS IT SHOULD WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. LETS GET A RECALL SO PEOPLE WON'T GET HURT.
JUST DROVE HOME FROM THE DEALER AFTER BUYING THIS USED 2010 MERCURY MILAN WITH 26000 MILES AND WHEN I BACKED INTO MY PARKING SPACE I SAW THE REFLECTION ON THE WALL BEHIND ME THAT WAS NO DIFFERENCE IN THE LIGHT WITH OR WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I CALLED THE DEALER NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK LEAVE IT FOR A DAY. I HAVE FOUND ONLINE THAT THE LED LIGHTS HAVE A PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RETURNED IT YET BECAUSE I LIVE 80 MILES FROM THE DEALER AND NEED A RIDE HOME. I HOPE TO THIS WEEK. *TR
MY CAR STALLED SUDDENLY IN MODERATE 35 MPH TRAFFIC ON 8/16/14. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED WHILE I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR AS THERE WAS NOWHERE TO PULL OVER. ON 8/17/14, MY CAR STALLED SUDDENLY AFTER TRAVELING .5 MILE FROM HOME (AT APPROX. 20 MPH), SO I RETURNED TO MY HOUSE. ON 8/18 AT 7 AM, I SPOKE TO SHEEHY FORD IN RICHMOND, VA, AND WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT FOR THROTTLE BODY REPAIR TO OCCUR ON 8/19 UNDER THEIR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" 13B17. I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS NOT IN DANGER OF GETTING STRANDED, SO I HAD MY HUSBAND FOLLOW ME TO WORK ON 8/18. THE CAR STALLED AGAIN ON 8/18 WHILE TRAVELING AT 40 MPH. RATHER THAN REPLACE THE FAULTY PART WHICH THEY DID HAVE IN STOCK, FORD MERELY RECALIBRATED THE POWERTRAIN SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT LIT WHEN I DROPPED OFF THE CAR FOR SERVICE, EVEN THOUGH I NOTIFIED THEM TWICE OF THE MULTIPLE INCIDENTS (VIA PHONE ON 8/18 AND IN PERSON ON 8/19). I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD SINCE THE CONTAMINATED INTERNAL MOTOR CONTACTS OF THE THROTTLE BODY REMAIN IN MY VEHICLE. *TR

PER MY RESEARCH, FORD IS CHARGING CUSTOMERS FOR THIS REPAIR (UP TO $500 PER LIGHT) THOUGH IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT SEEMS THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM, AS A RESPONSIBLE COMPANY FORD SHOULD FIX THIS ISSUE AND NOT PASS THERE ERROR ON TO THE CONSUMERS. THE PASSENGER SIDE LED BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED AS IF THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED BUT THEY ARE NOT. MAKES A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT IS DISTRACTING TO DRIVERS THAT ARE FOLLOWING AND THEY MAY MISJUDGE MY BRAKING. THIS IS THE SECOND ASSEMBLY THAT I HAVE HAD GO FAULTY. THE FIRST WAS THE DAY I BOUGHT IT BUT THE DEALER REPLACED THE $400 PART FOR FREE.
POWER STEERING RECALL: FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPE AND MERCURY MARINER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AUGUST 18, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 11, 2010. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE A STEERING TORQUE SENSOR THAT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY DETECT DRIVER STEERING INPUT. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING MY VEHICLE 2010 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER BECAUSE I HAD TO HAVE MY POWER STEERING REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CALL FORD AND INFORM THEM THAT MY CAR SHOULD BE LISTED IN THE RECALL. WHEN I CALLED I WAS TRANSFERRED TO CUSTOMER RELATIONS. THE WOMAN WAS VERY RUDE AND KEPT REPEATING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER. I EXPLAINED TO HER I UNDERSTAND THE PROTOCOL I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT INFORMATION REGARDING THE CALL WILL BE SUBMITTED ABOUT MY VEHICLE POWER STEERING WAS SERVICED ON MY MILAN AND IF THERE WAS ANYTHING FURTHER THAT I COULD DO REGARDING MY VEHICLE POSSIBLY BEING IN THE RECALL. LEFT TAIL LIGHT STARTED FLICKERING AND NOW IS COMPLETELY OUT. WAS TOLD ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS AT LEAST A $400 FIX. THIS IS A LED LIGHT AND SHOULD HAVE LASTED MORE THAN 4 YEARS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR
SOON AFTER PURCHASE ONE OF THE TAIL LIGHTS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF WITH THE CAR. THEN THE OTHER TAIL LIGHTS WOULD SLOWLY GO OUT IN ROWS UNTIL ALMOST DARK. BOTH TAIL LIGHTS ARE INVOLVED AND IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE DEALER FINALLY SAID THERE IS A SHORT IN BOTH TAIL LIGHTS AND THE PARTS ALONE ARE $915.00 NOT COUNTING THE INSTALLATION COSTS. THESE SHOULD BE ROBUST LED TAIL LIGHTS. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOME ISSUE WITH THE LIGHTS THEMSELVES OR THE WIRING DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS WHEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE. THESE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN PEOPLE CAN BE DRIVING THEIR CAR AND THE TAIL LIGHTS JUST SLOWLY GO OUT OR DO NOT COME ON AT ALL. *TR
THERE IS A SERIOUS BRAKE LIGHT MALFUNCTION ON 2010 MERCURY MILAN'S THAT FORD DEALERSHIPS ARE CHARGING OWNERS UP TO $1000 TO FIX, EVEN ON CARS THAT ARE BARELY OUT OF WARRANTY! ON THESE VEHICLES, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CONTINUOUSLY ON, WHETHER OR NOT YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL! HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ARE FLOODING THE INTERNET WITH THIS PROBLEM AND FORD IS TURNING A BLIND EYE TO IT! AND, THERE IS NO RECALL!! WE JUST FOUND OUT WE HAD THIS PROBLEM TODAY AFTER TAKING OUR CAR FOR ITS FIRST EVER INSPECTION IN THE DELAWARE LANES (WHICH IT FAILED DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION). THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. OWNERS OF THESE CARS ARE BASICALLY RIDING AROUND WITH NO INDICATION OF BRAKING WHEN THEIR LIGHTS ARE ON AND NO KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE GETTING REAR-ENDED IN LARGE NUMBERS. IS IT GOING TO TAKE PEOPLE GETTING INJURED AND/OR KILLED LIKE IN THE RECENT GM IGNITION KEY FIASCO BEFORE FORD TAKES ANY ACTION? I PURCHASED MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN LAST YEAR IN JULY 2013. THIS WEEKEND I STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE WITH A LOUD THUMPING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, ON IGNITION, GEAR CHANGING AND ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY BROKEN. IT WAS NEVER WELDED, WHICH I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. MEANING THIS WAS AN ISSUE BEFORE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. MY ENGINE HAS MOVED 2 INCHES FORWARD, THE TECHNICIAN MOVED MY ENGINE WITH HIS BARE HAND BACK AND FORWARD. BOTH OF MY FRONT WHEEL AXLES ARE BROKEN DUE TO THE PRESSURE OF THE ENGINE NOT BEING SECURED WITH THIS SUBFRAME. I'M NOT REALLY GREAT WITH CAR REPAIRS KNOWLEDGE, BUT EVEN I KNOW THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE. I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH MY CAR DURING PURCHASE AND THEY WON'T PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS QUOTED $600 FOR PARTS AND $624 FOR LABOR. NOT INCLUDING MY WHEEL AXLES THAT HAVE TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BBB AND THE VP OF THE DEALER, CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER WAS SUPPOSED TO DO A COMPLETE INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE AND THEY DID NOT. THEY SAY THEY STAND BY THEIR INSPECTIONS AND GUARANTEE. NOT THIS TIME!! IT'S NOT FAIR FOR ME TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR BUT IF I DON'T, I WON'T HAVE A VEHICLE TO DRIVE. FORD HAS TO DO SOMETHING. THE DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE LIGHT HAS INTERMITTENT OPERATION. THE LAMP CANNOT BE REPLACED LIKE A REGULAR TURN SIGNAL LAMP. *TR
THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT HAS BURNT OUT. THE TAIL LIGHT IS LED AND THEREFORE THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. THE COST FROM FORD DEALERSHIP IS $428 FOR ONLY THE PART NOT INCLUDING LABOR. I HAVE RESEARCED SEVERAL SITES, AND FIND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. LIGHTING IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD BACK UP THEIR ENGINEERING FLAW. *JS
A FEW TIMES, PEOPLE DRIVING BEHIND ME HAVE BEEPED AT ME AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHY OTHER THAN MAYBE THEY WERE UPSET I WASN'T DRIVING FAST ENOUGH. THEN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, A POLICE OFFICER PULLED ME OVER TO WARN ME MY TAIL LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND TO GET IT FIXED. THE OUTER(QUARTER PANEL) LED TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT FROM BEHIND. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO NAZARETH FORD, WHICH STATED THAT THE LED LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST MUCH MORE THAN FOUR YEARS, BUT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 25% OF THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY CAR PERMANENTLY WENT OUT WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM IN JULY 2014. DURING THE FOLLOWING MONTH, ADDITIONAL LED LIGHTS IN THE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY FAILED UNTIL, FINALLY, NONE OF THEM WOULD LIGHT UP. THIS WAS OUTRAGEOUS IN THAT MY CAR, BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2009 AND CONSISTENTLY HOUSED IN A GARAGE, WAS FEWER THAN 5 YEARS OLD AND HAD YET TO REACH THE 30,000-MILE MARK. A LICENSED PENNSYLVANIA CAR INSPECTION STATION REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT PASS ITS SAFETY INSPECTION UNLESS THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. CONSEQUENTLY, I WAS FORCED TO DO SO; THE BILL CAME TO $445 FOR ITS REPLACEMENT. BECAUSE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONSISTS OF LED LIGHTS, THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY SHOULD HAVE LASTED FOR THE LIFE OF THE AUTOMOBILE, IN MY OPINION. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A GLARING SAFETY DEFECT SINCE ITS MALFUNCTION ALONE RESULTS IN A FAILURE TO PASS AN ANNUAL PENNSYLVANIA AUTOMOBILE SAFETY INSPECTION. NOT TO MENTION THAT ITS REPLACEMENT COST IS ASTONISHING. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD ADDRESS THIS SITUATION SINCE OTHER MERCURY MILAN OWNERS, AS WELL AS OWNERS OF ITS TWINS -- THE FORD FUSION AND THE LINCOLN MKZ -- HAVE REPORTED ON THIS DATABASE NEARLY IDENTICAL SAFETY FAILURES. OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT IS REPEATEDLY REPORTED ON THIS WEBSITE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SH U THINK THE CAR OFF A FEW MINUTES AND THEN GO AGAIN. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE PULLING ACROSS TRAFFIC FROM A STOP, ONE TIME NEARLY GETTING ME HIT FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHEN OR WHERE THIS WILL HAPPEN. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND WAS DENIED A REPAIR BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THE THROTTLE BODY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE ONES COVERED. I HAVE HAD THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND RECEIVED CODES THAT MATCH AS WELL.
