DT: THE CONSUMER SAID THAT HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO GO GET A HAIR CUT, AND WHEN HE CAME OUT THE CAR WAS RUNNING ALTHOUGH HE HAD THE KEYS IN HIS HANDS. WHEN THE CONSUMER POPPED THE HOOD, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, AND WHEN HE CLOSED THE HOOD IT STOPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN. THE CONSUMER HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE CONSUMER SAW ON CNN NEWS ABOUT FORD. THE CONSUMER HAD BECOME CONCERNED AND WANTED SOMEONE TO HELP HIM. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE MANUFACTURER SAID THAT THE CAR WAS NOT ON RECALL. THE CALLER WAS VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE HE NEEDED THE CAR AND WANTED SOMEONE TO HELP HIM. *AK THE PROBLEM MAY BE DUE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *NLM
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING ANOTHER VEHICLE APPLY HIS BRAKES IN FRONT OF HIM FORCING HIM TO HIT FROM BEHIND. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION TO MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THERE WAS NO FURTHER PROBLEM. *JB THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. (MODEL LS)SCC
WHEN OPENING DRIVER SIDE DOOR HINGE AND BOLTS THAT HOLD THE DOOR IN PLACE CAME COMPLETELY OFF. *AK
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS THE PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR. SCC
CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD RECALL 03V087000 REPAIRS PERFORMED. BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. DEALERSHIP TOLD CONSUMER THAT THEY WERE PUTTING CONSUMER ON A WAITING LIST, AND WILL CONTACT HER WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER CALLED. IT HAD BEEN A YEAR.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED DEFROSTED BLOWER MOTOR MALFUNCTIONED. WHILE DRIVING THE BLOWER STOPPED WORKING AND WILL NOT WORK TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION TWICE. HOWEVER, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE BY THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE COST. SHE MADE ONE TEMPORARY REPAIR. CURRENTLY, SHE ORDERED THE PART AND WAS WAITING FOR ITS ARRIVAL SO SHE COULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM HERSELF.*AK
IN MARCH 2003 WHILE DRIVING 52 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHERE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED, AND FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER STATED THAT FRONT AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. *AK THE VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND IT'S EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH THE EGR VALVE AND FUEL PUMP. *NM
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 25 MPH. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DAMAGE TO CAR WAS $12,000.00. SHE SUFFERED SOFT TISSUE INJURY TO NECK AND NOW IS IN CONSTANT PAIN. CAR WAS REPAIRED BY DEALER, WE NOW HAVE AN ALMOST NEW CAR THAT WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN. *PH
DRIVER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 25 MPH. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DAMAGE TO CAR $12,000.00 *PH
THE UPPER DOOR HINGE PIN FELL OUT, DUE TO THE PIN LOCK WASHER BREAKING, CAUSING THE DOOR TO FALL. THE HINGE IS INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN WITH THE STOP GUARD ON THE BOTTOM DUE TO THE FENDER BEING IN THE WAY TO INSTALL IT RIGHT SIDE UP. AS SUCH THE FLIMSY LOCK WASHER WHICH HOLDS THE PIN BROKE OFF ALLOWING THE PIN TO WORK ITS WAY DOWN. UPON INSPECTION OF THE OTHER DOOR PINS, 2 OF THE REMAINING 3 WERE BROKEN BUT HAD NOT YET FALLEN OFF. THE DOORS ARE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO ANYONE OPENING THEM AND HAVING THEM DROP ON A CHILD OR SENIOR AS WELL AS THE POSSIBLE STRAIN IF HELD ONTO UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. DT
I RENTED A FORD SABLE FROM BUDGET RENT A CAR FROM 9-21-2002 THRU 10-01-2002. ON FOUR OCCASIONS DURING THAT TIME, I CUT MY LOWER LEFT LEG RATHER SEVERELY (ENOUGH TO PRODUCE RUNNING BLOOD) ON THE CAR DOOR. UPON CLOSELY EXAMINING THE DOOR, IT IS CLEAR THAT THE LOWER PORTION OF IT PROTRUDES SEVERAL INCHES INWARD IN A SHARPLY CURVED FASHION WITH A VERY POINTED TIP. THE DOOR WAS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY, AND IT OPENED AND CLOSED AS INTENDED. IT IS UNREALISTIC TO THINK THAT IN 22 YEARS OF DRIVING, THAT I WOULD ALL OF A SUDDEN NOT KNOW HOW TO ENTER OR EXIT AN AUTOMOBILE. I'VE RENTED MERCURY SABLES ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OVER PREVIOUS YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM BEFORE IN MY LIFE. I REPORT THAT THE CAR IS A 2002 MODEL, BUT IT MAY BE A 2003 MODEL. RENTAL CAR FORD TAURUS, FRONT PASS SEATBELT TIGHTENED WOULD NOT RELEASE, CUTTING INTO THROAT. RETURNED CAR. REC'D MERCURY SABLE, SAME PROBLEM. WAS STUCK DRIVING 17 HOURS FROM IN TO CT WITH BELT CUTTING INTO THROAT. USED BELT PROPERLY. WHEN LEANING OVER TO PICK UP ITEM FROM FLOOR, OR GLOVE COMPARTMENT BELT WOULD DEPLOY COMPLETELY. UPON RETURNING BODY TO UPRIGHT POSITION, BELT MADE CLICKING NOISES AND TIGHTENED WITH EVERY UPRIGHT MOVEMENT. BECAME EXTREMELY CONSTRICTING. DRIVER HAD TO RELEASE BELT FOR 17 HOUR TRIP. PASS RETRACTED IT COMPLETELY, DEPLOY IT TO USE IT, AND TRIED TO STAY STILL AND NOT MOVE. WHEN MOVEMENT OCCURRED BELT WOULD REACH IT'S END AND START CLICKING AND CONSTRICTING WITH EVERY TINY MOVEMENT. NEEDLESS TO SAY AFTER 17 HOURS OF DRIVING AND TIGHTENING, SKIN UNDER BELT AREA IS VERY TENDER, THROAT IS SORE, ALMOST CHOKED, ALMOST CUT. FOR PART OF TRIP HAD TO PLACE SEAT IN LAYDOWN POSITION TO ALLEVIATE THROAT CONSTRICTION OF BELT. MFG STATES 'THAT IS THE WAY DOT SET UP THE REGULATIONS, AND WE JUST FOLLOW THEM...BELTS ARE MADE FOR US.....NO RECALLS.....NO ADJUSTMENTS CAN BE MADE'. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING OTHERS HAD TO CUT OFF THE BELT. EVEN WENT TO TEST DRIVE THEM, SAME THING HAPPENED. BELT IS MADE FOR CHILD SAFETY? SOME TYPE OF SENSOR? NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT ANY TIME. BELT IS MALFUNCTIONING WHEN DEPLOYED ALL THE WAY BY JUST BENDING OVER OR MOVING AROUND. BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT, SOMEONE NEEDS TO RECALL AND RESTYLE THESE EXISTING BELTS. DRIVERS BELT DID NOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF PROBLEMS. BENDING AND LEANING OVER DEPLOYED IT COMPLETELY AND NO RETRACTING OCCURRED AT ALL. VERY DANGEROUS HAVING DRIVER, DRIVING AND TRYING TO RELEASE PASSENGER BELT, AND PASSENGER UNBELTED WHILE TRAVELING RETRACTING AND RESETTING BELT. WE WERE LUCKY WE WERE NOT IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE DEALING WITH THE BELT ISSUE. AS THE BELT WAS UNBUCKLED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER 17 HOURS. CALL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT 860-623-7774. THE LEFT REAR WINDOW SUDDENLY IMPLODED INTO THE CAR, SHATTERING INTO SEVERAL HUNDRED SMALL PIECES. THERE WAS NO ROCK OR OTHER PROJECTILE. THE TEMPERATURE CONTRAST BETWEEN INSIDE AND OUTSIDE WAS NOT GREAT.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT LOCK UPS AND WILL NOT RELEASE UNTIL THE SEAT BELT IS UNHOOKED,WITHOUT APPLYING BRAKES.HAD SEAT BELT REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES PROBLEM STILL REOCCURED. NLM
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND UPON STOPPING, CONSUMERS FOOT GOT STUCK BETWEEN BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *AK MANUFACTURER CONTACTED. *TT

WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLES BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE SKID ABOUT ONE HUNDRED FEET BEFORE IT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. *NLM
FOR ABOUT FIVE MONTHS THERE HAS BEEN A FUEL SMELL ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THE VEHICLE BLEW UP AND BURNED THE DRIVER. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. *AK
CONSUMER STARTED VEHICLE AND PLACED GEAR IN "DRIVE". RPMS INCREASED TO THE DANGER LEVEL AS THE ENGINE RACED. CONSUMER HAD TO KEEP BRAKES APPLIED SO THAT VEHICLE WOULD NOT SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. DEALER HAS REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER TWICE, BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING.*AK
