THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD BEGAN CRACKING SOON AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN 2004. THE DASHBOARD HAS CONTINUED TO CRACK. IN JULY OF 2005, THE FUEL FILLER DOOR DETACHED AND THE CD PLAYER STOPPED OPERATING. AFTER BEING INFORMED THAT HER WARRANTY DID NOT COVER ANY OF THESE COMPONENTS, SHE DECIDED NOT TO TAKE ACTION. SHE IS PURSUING IT NOW AFTER REALIZING THAT SEVERAL OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURES. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 99,900 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. WHILE DROPING IT OF TO GET REPAIRED, THE SERVICE PERSON SAID, WOW I GOT ANOTHER ONE THIS MORNING FOR EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. ODD? I THINK NOT. *AK
THIS CAR WAS LEAKING GASOLINE. THE FUEL PUMP HOUSING SEAL HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT TOOK TWO DAYS AND A PHONE CALL TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, TO GET MITSUBISHI TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. I BELIEVED THE CAR TO BE UNSAFE. IT WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE, AFTER I FILLED THE TANK. I WAS OUT OF TOWN FOR APPX. 24 HOURS, AND RETURNED TO FIND MY HOUSE FILLED WITH GASOLINE FUMES, WHICH TOOK OVER A DAY TO DISSIPATE. I CALLED MITSUBISHI, AND HAD THE CAR TOWED IN. THEY TOLD ME THEY'D NEVER HAD REPORTS OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM, BUT WHEN THEY ATTEMPTED TO GET THE PART TO FIX THE CAR - THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
