I BOUGHT A NISSAN ALTIMA JULY 2005. ON DECEMBER WHEN THE WEATHER IN FLORIDA START TO BE NICE I OPEN THE SUNROOF AND IT START MAKING A RATTLING NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THAT IT NEED TO GO TO THE BODY SHOP TO BE FIX, THE SECOND APPT. WAS AT THE BODY SHOP THEY CALL ME AND SAID THAT IT WAS FIXED. WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME, THE NOISE WAS THERE I TOOK IT THE NEXT MORNING AND AFTER 4 DAYS NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE RAIL IS BENT AND THE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AND IT IS NOT A DEFECT FROM THE CAR SO IT IS NOT UNDER THE WARRANTY. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 9,000 MILES AND THEY DON'T WANT TO COVER SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED UNDER THE FIRST YEAR WARRANTY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE GAUGES THAT TURN ON THE DEFROSTER CAUSE THE DRIVER TO TAKE THEIR EYES OFF OF THE ROAD. THE GAS CAP IS AT AN AWKWARD ANGLE AND TOO HARD TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAS BACK PROBLEMS AND MUST SIT IN THE DRIVER SEAT AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO BE TOO CLOSE TO THE AIRBAG. UPDATED 03/17/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSFER LINKS, SPINDLES, AND BUSHINGS, IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALIGNED BY 2 DEALERSHIPS. THE DISTRICT MANAGER DETERMINED IT TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING, BUT AN ENGINEER FOR THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THIS IS NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS.

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 10-15 MPH. I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. MY BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND MY CAR SWERVED TO THE LEFT AND HIT A PARKED VEHICLE. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND STILL REMAINS THERE.
OUR ENGINE SEIZED UP WHILE WE WERE DRIVING, OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AS THE CAR DIED BUT NOT BEFORE THE CAR DIED, WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN COMING HOME FROM A BUSINESS TRIP. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE DRAIN PLUG WAS MISSING. THE OIL LIGHT IS SUPPOSED TO COME ON NO MATTER WHAT WHEN IT GETS LOW ON OIL, THAT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WHICH IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY THAT THEY PRESSURED US INTO BUYING FOR $1500. NOW THEY ARE NOT HONORING ANY SERVICE AGREEMENTS THEY MADE. THEY ARE IN BREACH OF CONTRACT. WE HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, FOOD, GAS, HITCHHIKING, EVERYTHING..... WE NEED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR EVERYTHING AND HAVE NISSAN TAKE OVER PAYMENTS FOR OUR CAR RENTAL, LOSS OF WORK, RETURNING CAR, AND GETTING A NEW ONE. WE HAVE SPENT FIVE DAYS NOW SCREWING WITH EVERYONE EXCEPT SOMEONE THAT WILL HELP. I HAVE LITERALLY TALKED TO 90 PEOPLE OR MORE SINCE OUR CAR BROKE DOWN. WE WANT HELP RIGHT NOW, OR WE WILL SUE TROPHY NISSAN IMMEDIATELY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE VALVE HAS BEEN MAKING A TAPPING NOISE SINCE 2006. HE STATED THAT THE ENGINE TAPPING FAILURE IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COULD LEAD TO ENGINE SEIZURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE. AFTER THREE OF THE FIVE VISITS, THE MECHANIC CLAIMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE TAPPING STILL OCCURS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION SWITCH. *AK
FORTH TIME IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I PURCHASED A 2.5 SL IN JUNE 2005. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD NOT TURN OFF IN THE PASSENGER SEAT 6/20/05, SENSOR REPLACED. CAR WOULD NOT START UNTIL TRYING 20 MINUTES LATER 7/4/05. SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME TO JIGGLE THE GEAR SHIFT FROM NOW ON. ON 7/28/05 CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN UNTIL AFTER 20 MINUTES, SERVICE DEPARTMENT INVOICED ME FOR REPROGRAMMING 33.83 AND 79.20 FOR NEW ELECTRONIC KEYS. NOW IN NOV. 2005 CAR IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS LISTED ABOVE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS TALKING TO NISSAN ENGINEERING, I AM DRIVING A RENTAL CAR FOR THE 2ND TIME. *NM
THE CAR FAILED TO START AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR 13 MONTHS. THE CAR ACTED AS IF IT WAS FLOODED, CRANKING BUT NOT FIRING. TO START THE CAR I HAD TO HOLD THE GAS PEDAL DOWN UNTIL THE CAR FIRED AND STARTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER RECENTLY PURCHASING GASOLINE. WE ONLY USE 2-3 DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS WITH GOOD REPUTATIONS. IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN THE FIRST COLD SPELL OF NOVEMBER 2005. THE DEALER SAID THESE CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULDN'T CAUSE FLOODING AND IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP US. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED BUT AS A PRECAUTION, I RAN THE GAS TANK ALMOST EMPTY AND PUT IN A BOTTLE OF GAS TREATMENT. I ALSO PLAN, IF POSSIBLE, ON BUYING MY GAS FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE FROM HERE ON OUT. *NM
I PURCHASED A 05 ALTIMA S IN AUGUST AND AT 4000 MI THE BRAKES STARTED TO GRIND AND MAKE NOISE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKES AND RESURFACED THE ROTORS. A WEEK LATER THE BRAKES BEGAN MAKING NOISES AGAIN AND GRINDING , I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THE FACTORY SAID THE HAVE TO SHOW THEM SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CA AND THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR BACK A WEEK LATER AND ONCE AGAIN COMPLAINED OF THE BRAKED GRINDING AND NOISE AND THIS TIME I RECORDED THE NOISE ON MY CELL PHONE AND PLAYED IT FOR THE SERVICE ADVISOR TO HEAR. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT IF IT WAS DANGEROUS IT WOULD BE MAKING THE NOISE ALL THE TIME AN THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE PURCHASING DEALER, OR ANOTHER DEALER TO GET A SECOND OPINION AS THEY PURCHASING DEALER TENDS TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR "BABIES" I STATED THAT THAT SHOULD BE A COMPANY POLICY FOR NISSAN NOT A DEALER POLICY AND THAT I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS BRAKES ARE A REQUIRED SAFETY FEATURE. *NM
DT:THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED. THE ENGINE MADE A METAL GRINDING NOISE WHEN IT LOST ALL POWER. HE WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED THE CAM SHAFT BROKE DUE TO A MATERIAL DEFECT. THE CAM SHAFT WILL BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.*AK

WHILE IN PARK, CAR ROLLED OFF JACK ONTO EVEN SURFACE PAVEMENT DURING TIRE CHANGE. AUTOMOBILE IS 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA AND NISSAN HAS BEEN INFORMED. OWNERS MANUAL RECOMMENDATIONS WERE FOLLOWED. HAD THE TIRE NOT BEEN LEFT ON THE VEHICLE, OR HAD LEGS OR ARMS BEEN UNDER CHASSIS, INJURY MAY HAVE OCCURRED. *JB
I HAVE A NISSAN ALTIMA SE-2005-IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, THE DEALER, NISSAN, HAS HAD MY CAR 2 TIMES-1ST TIME STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIED AT 40 MPH WHEN DECREASING SPEED AND WAS TOLD WARPED ROTORS???-2ND TIME WAS NOISE FROM FIRST TIME WHEN THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS??? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THE CAR ONLY HAS 12,000 MI ON IT - I HAVE NEVER HAD THE ROTORS TURNED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE-3RD TRIP TO DEALER ON THIS ISSUE WILL RESULT IN MANUFACTURER, WHERE EVER LOCATED, HEARING ME FROM MARYLAND AT THE DEALERSHIP, IN ADDITION TO STEPS TAKEN TO ENSURE MY SAFETY WITH NISSAN ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL COSTS INCURRED. *NM
NEW 2005 ALTIMA 3.5 SE BOUGHT AUGUST 2005 1ST MONTH I HAD NOTICED A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING AT HIGH SPEEDS, AND THE VEHICLE PULLING/DRIFTING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THIS CONCERN MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A SENSE OF CONTROL WHEN DRIVING, IN ADDITION WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME THE VIBRATION IN THE WHEEL MAKES YOUR HANDS AND ARMS FALL ASLEEP. IT IS ALWAYS NECESSARY AFTER AN HOUR OR HOUR AND A HALF TO PULL OVER AND GIVE YOUR ARMS/ HANDS A REST. THE DEALER ADDRESSED THIS CONCERN BY BALANCING THE WHEELS BY ROAD FORCE BALANCE (CORRECTED SPECS - 21LBS ROAD FORCE DOWN TO 7LBS) NO ALIGNMENT ISSUES WERE NOTICED. AFTER 3 TIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE VIBRATIONS I HAD NOTICED A CLUNK IN THE FRONT END, IT ENDED UP BEING A STRUT THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WITH THE NEXT TRIP THE DEALERSHIP THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WAS NOW EVIDENT AT ALL SPEEDS, IT WAS STILL DRIFTING, AND A NEW "HUM" HAD DEVELOPED AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER UNABLE TO VERIFY ANY OF MY CONCERNS SUGGESTED THAT I GO FOR A RIDE WITH THE SERVICE MANGER. AFTER THAT RIDE HE SUGGESTED THAT I HAVE MY TIRES SWAPPED FOR NEW ONES OF ANOTHER BRAND. ON MY NEXT TRIP TO THE DEALER THEY SWAPPED ALL 4 OF MY TIRES FOR ANOTHER BRAND NAME AND RE-ALIGNED THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND FRONT END. THROUGHOUT THE WINTER THE CAR RAN OK OTHER THAN SOME ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT WOULD KILL MY BATTERY AND THE REAR PILLAR AIRBAGS COMING OUT. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE SPRING THAT I WAS FORCED TO BRING MY CAR DOWN AGAIN FOR THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CLUNK IN THE FRONT END. THE DEALER COULD NOT VERIFY ANY CLUNK IN THE FRONT END BUT AGREED THAT THERE IS AGAIN A VIBRATION AND REMEDIED THE PROBLEM BY ADJUSTING THE STEERING RACK PRE-LOAD. INITIALLY THE VIBRATION WAS REDUCED, BUT WITHIN A MONTH IT WAS BACK. THE SERVICE MANAGER ADMITTED THAT ADJUSTING THE STEERING RACK PRE-LOAD WAS ONLY A "TEMPORARY FIX" A "BANDAID FOR THE PROBLEM". *JB
DT: THE CALLER'S VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT GOING 10 MPH WHEN IT STALLED. SHE COULD NOT GET IT STARTED ,AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, SHE WAS TOLD SHE COULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO OTHER INDICATION THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. DEALER HAS VEHICLE NOW AND WILL CALL HER WHEN THEY HAVE CHECK IT. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WILL CALL HER BACK. *AK
WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE ON LOWBEAM AT NIGHT YOU CAN HARDLY SEE WHERE YOU ARE GOING. I AM VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS. YOU WILL BE SEEING ANOTHER COMPLAINT HERE AGAIN FROM ME IF THIS SHOULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THERE WAS ALSO NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,339.
I BOUGHT A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA BRAND NEW LAST YEAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE UP TO SIX TIMES. THE PAST TWO TIMES HAS ME CONCERNED. THE CAR DROPS TO 20 MPH WITH NO WARNING. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH A 2YR OLD SON AND I COMPUTE 60 MILES ON WAY TO WORK ON 2 BUSY INTERSTATE EVERYDAY. THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN MY CAR THIS TIME BUT MAKES ME AWARE THAT THIS MAKE NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *NM
SUDDEN FAILURE OF CLUTCH TO GO BACK UP TO NORMAL POSITION (REMAINED DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO SHIFT TO ANOTHER GEAR) WHILE DRIVING NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R AT FREEWAY LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE. UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR SAFELY, IT FORCED ME TO STOP ON SIDE OF ROAD. DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER IN SANTA MONICA, CA BUT CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. REASSURED THAT IT IS OKAY AND DROVE CAR BACK AND FORTH TO WORK UNTIL CLUTCH GOT BURNT AND WE WERE CHARGED OF APPROX $1500.00 FOR THE REPAIR. WE WERE BACK AND FORTH TO THE NISSAN DEALER SINCE THEN FOR CREAKY NOISES WHEN STEPPING CLUTCH AND SHIFTING, DIFFICULTY TO SHIFT ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST RUN IN THE MORNING, AND CLUTCH CONTINUED FAILURE TO RETURN TO NORMAL POSITION WHEN DEPRESSED. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERS MANY TIMES NOW FOR THESE PROBLEMS MORE THAN NORMAL MAINTENANCE FOR A CAR OF LESS THAN 2 YEARS. PLEASE ADVISE. CAN'T AFFORD TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE CAR NOWADAYS FOR CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE PAID. NT. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATED HER CAR STOPPED ON HER WHILE DRIVING TWO-THREE TIMES SINCE MID AUGUST 2005. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING PRIOR TO STOPPING. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. SHE WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT BECAUSE SHE DID NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR. *AK
AN UPDATE TO A PREVIOUSLY REPORTED PROBLEM, WHICH MAY HELP OTHER CAR OWNERS IN DETERMINING A SUSPECTED PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5 SL. LAST SUMMER I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR'S HANDLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAD THE CAR ALIGNED, REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES, ONE BY ONE AND WAS STILL HAVING WITH THE CAR-WHICH WAS SHAKING AT SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE SHAKING WAS LIKE A TURBULENCE EFFECT. THE SPOILER UNDER THE CAR WAS NOT ALLOWING THE WIND TO FLOW THROUGH PROPERLY, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE SHAKING EFFECT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPOILER WITH THE 2.5 MODEL'S SPOILER. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS A LIGHTER CAR AND THE WIND DOES HAVE AN EFFECT ON IT WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE TIRES WHICH ARE A CONTINENTAL BRAND ARE PROBABLY NOT THE CORRECT TIRES FOR THE CAR DUE TO ROAD FORCE ISSUES AND NOT THE PROPER SPEED RATING FOR THIS MODEL EITHER. I WILL PROBABLY REPLACE THOSE WITH A BETTER MODEL AND HIGH SPEED RATING ONCE THEY START TO WEAR DOWN. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CLUSTER MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH LESS THAN 800 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A PINGING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE MID SECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THIS NOISE WAS NORMAL. A LOCAL MECHANIC DETERMINED IT WAS A BROKEN CATALYTIC CONVERTER. BASED ON COMPLAINTS ON A WEBSITE SHE FELT THAT A CLAMP NUT MAY BE LOOSE. THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER 90 MINUTES IN THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT BECAME DIZZY BY WHAT SHE FELT MAY BE RELATED TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE TRANSMISSION JERKED, AND HESITATED IN LOW GEARS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER PARTIALLY DEFROSTS THE DRIVER'S SIDE, BUT DID NOT WORK AT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE DEFROSTER. *AK
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO. AT APPROXIAMATELY 2950 MILES, MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. IMMEDIATLY AFTER THAT MY CAR BECAME SLUGGISH AND IS HAVING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AND FEELS LIKE IT IS DRAGGING. BROUGHT TO DEALER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND THEY HAVE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART. THEY RELEASED THE CAR TO ME. I ASKED THEM IF IT WERE OKAY TO DRIVE, AND IF DOING SO WOULD IT MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE, THEY ADVISED NO, IT IS OKAY TO DRIVE. I CALLED IN 3 DAYS LATER TO SEE IF THE PART WAS RECIEVED, THEY STATED IT WAS NOT, THEY CLAIM THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER.
DT: THE OWNER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SINCE THE DAY OF PURCHASE. IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE CAR STALLS. THERE IS NO ACCELERATION AND THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOT WORK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON BEFORE THE STALLING BEGINS. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE OWNER THOUGHT IT RAN OUT OF GAS. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE REPAIR SHOP THREE TIMES, AND THE REPAIR HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. THE THIRD TIME THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WERE REPLACED. AGAIN, THIS DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE REPAIRED THE PROBLEM, THE OWNER IS NOT CONFIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR WOULD NOT LOCK IN PLACE. THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR WAS ABLE TO BE MOVED FROM THE DESIRED GEAR SELECTION WITH MINIMAL FORCE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,200. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

DEALER ROTATED TIRES FOR NORMAL MAINTENANCE. RETURNED HOME WITH THE CAR AND THE NEXT DAY NOTICED A VIBRATION. ASSUMED DEALER DID NOT BALANCE, SO CALLED AND MADE APPOINTMENT TO RETURN CAR. DEALER TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE TIRES TO GO TO A TIRE DEALER AND THE COMPANY WOULD PRO-RATE NEW TIRES. THE TIRE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE CAR, NOT THE TIRES AND REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION. NISSAN DEALER THEN REFERRED ME TO THE NISSAN CO. TALKED TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIR'S, THEY ALSO REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION, STATING AGAIN THAT IT WAS A TIRE PROBLEM, NOT A CAR PROBLEM. THEN CALLED CONTINENTAL TIRE CO AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE ANY ACTION, SATING AGAIN, IT WAS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH THE CAR...AS EVIDENCED BY THE MAINTENANCE NOTIFICATION PUBLISHED BY NISSAN. BASED ON THE FACT THAT NISSAN HAS DOCUMENTED THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS WITH 2005 ALTIMA'S REGARDING FEATHERING OF TIRES, I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THESE TIRES. FOUND HAIR FROM ANIMAL STUCK ON CROSS MEMBER". NO OTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE BESIDES THE GAS TANK. VEHICLE IS STILL AT DEALER. HAVE CONTACTED REGIONAL DEALER PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGER. I AM WAITING FOR HIM TO CALL ME BACK, BECAUSE OF THE STORY FROM THE DEALER THAT THE TANK WAS CLAWED OPEN, BECAUSE COMMON SENCE WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. . MY CONCERN IS THAT IF AN ANIMAL CAN CLAW THE TANK OPEN THE GAS TANKS NEED TO BE RECALLED.
AT 8,000 MILE MARK TREAD IS COMPLETELY WORN ON BOTH FRONT TIRES OF 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. CAR WAS PURCHASED JUST 9 MONTHS AGO AND ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN KEPT UP TO DATE. TIRES HAVE NO DOT NUMBER ON THEM, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY IF THE PRODUCT HAS BEEN RECALLED OR NOT. CLAIM FILED WITH MANUFACTURER, INSPECTION CARRIED OUT BY TIRE RETAILER CONFIRMED UNUSAL LACK OF TREAD DEPTH. RETAILER ALSO CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS EXTREMEMLY UNUSUAL FOR ANY TIRE TO SHOW THAT MUCH WEAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, REGARDLESS OF PREVENTETIVE MAINTENANCE.
THE QUALITY OF THE REAR SUSPENSION ON THE 2005 ALTIMA IS POOR. THE BACK END OF THE CAR SAGS A LOT WITH ONLY ONE PASSENGER IN THE BACK SEAT. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSIAN ALONG WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES IN REFERENCE TO DEFECT HAVE ADVISED THAT I AM CONCERNED AND NO LONGER FEEL SAFE WITH THESE TIRES AND REQUESTED THEY ALL BE REPLACED FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND FAMILY. THE TIRE WAS INSPECTED BY A AUTHORIZED CONTINENTIAL DEALER IN GLEN BURNINE MARYLAND STATED THAT THE BELTS HAD SEPERATED CAUSING ONLY THE SIDEWALLS TO BE LEFT. ALTHOUGH NO ONE IN MY FAMILY HAS BEEN PHYISCALLY HURT, THIS WAS A VERY EMOTIONALL INCIDENT. THIS COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY BEEN ALOT WORSE AND NOT ONLY CAUSED INJURY TO US BUT OTHER TRAVELERS AS WELL. WHEN I WENT IN TO PICK UP THE CAR, I WAS TOLD THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING HAUPON HEADING OUT FOR HOME, I NOTICED THE GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATION WERE IMMEDIATELY GONE BUT, THERE WAS STILL A VERY NOTICEABLE HUM OR DRONE WHILE DRIVING. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I SPOKE WITH RON, TOLD HIM OF MY CONCERNS AND ASKED HIM TO TAKE A RIDE WITH ME. WE DROVE SEVERAL MILES AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. HIS CONCLUSION, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. HE SAID THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE/COMPLAINT FROM OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS WITH THIS BRAND OF TIRE AND SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE ROTATING THEM WOULD HELP. DRIVING HOME ON 202 FREEWAY GOING EAST. ALL OF A SUDDEN SOMETHING ON THE STEERING BROKE ON THE LEFT DRIVERS SIDE OF CAR. CAR TURNED LEFT AND WENT INTO CONCRETE DIVIDER OF FREEWAY. TOTALED CAR. EXAMINATION SHOWS BROKEN BALL JOINT OF SOME KIND AND TIRE WAS DISTROYED ON DRIVERS FRONT SIDE.
THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY STOP WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING FATAL ACCIDENTS. CAR WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN TO HAVE A RECALL FIXED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. NISSAN STATED THEY WOULD NOT REPROGRAM THE ECM UNDER THE RECALL UNTIL THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND WAS CHARGED 350 DOLLARS FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THE RECALL STATED THE SENSORS COULD OVERHEAT AND CAUSE BRIEF INTERRUPTION TO THE ECM AND CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL. IF THE SENSORS ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM WHY ARE THEY NOT RECALLED AS WELL? FURTHER REVIEW ONLINE SHOWS THE ORIGINAL SENSORS WERE MADE FROM PLASTIC AND COULD CRACK AND LEAK OIL ONTO THE SENSOR CAUSING THEM TO FAIL AND THE NEW REVISED ONES ARE MADE FROM METAL. *TR

THEY DIDN'T REPLACE MOLDING AGAIN. WAS TOLD TO WAIT 48 HOURS FOR GLUE TO DRY, SO NOW I GOT TO DRIVE AROUND WITH NEON GREEN TAPE ON MY CAR. TWO DAYS LATER, TOOK IT BACK AND IT WAS STILL LIFTING. THIS CAUSES UNSAFE SITUATIONS AT INTERSECTIONS AND ON THE HIGHWAYS DURING TRAFFIC. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM MOST OFTEN DURING HOT DAYS WITH LOTS OF STOP & GO DRIVING. OVER TIME/MILEAGE, THE CONDITION BECOMES MORE COMMON. THE DEALER EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT FIXED IT FOR AWHILE THEN IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. DT: 2005, NISSAN, ALTIMA: THE AIR BAG LIGHT, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT GO OFF. ONCE SOMEONE SITS IN THE SEAT. THE LIGHT WILL NOT GP\O OFF. DEALER IDICATED THAT BECAUSE HIS WIFE DIDN'T WEIGH MUCH THE LIGHT MAY NOT GO OFF. IT OCCURRED ITERMITTENTLY.*AK
THE CAR FAILED TO START ONLY TWO WEEKS AFTER BUYING IT, AND THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. THE CAR ACTS AS IF IT'S FLOODED, CRANKING BUT NOT FIRING. BOTH FAILURES OCCURRED AFTER RECENTLY PURCHASING GASOLINE (THE SAME GASOLINE RETAILER IS USED FAIRLY CONSISTENTLY) AND DRIVING THE CAR IMMEDIATELY HOME IN COLD, BUT NOT SEVERELY COLD, TEMPERATURES. THE DEALER SAID THESE CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULDN'T CAUSE FLOODING, BUT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEMS AND NOW REFUSES TO RESEARCH IT FURTHER. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS HAS ADVISED OF A RECALL THAT MAY BE APPLICABLE, BUT THE DEALER DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AWARE OF IT AND I'M IN THE PROCESS OF FOLLOWING UP ON THIS POINT. *NM
