CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS ARE FAULTY. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN ALTIMA'S. THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED TWO TIMES ALREADY. STALLED ON HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 65MPH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE SAME FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER (NISSAN OF STOCKTON, 3077 E HAMMER LN, STOCKTON, CA 95212) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 29720363. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE VIN WAS INCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
I STARTED LEASING MY ALTIMA IN 2008 AND PURCHASED THE CAR ABOUT 4 YEARS LATER. I TOOK IT TO HAVE MY MUFFLER CHECKED, BECAUSE I HEARD NOISE, AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FLOORBOARD ON THE FRONT , PASSENGER SIDE, IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THE ONLY THING BETWEEN MY PASSENGERS AND THE STREET IS THE CARPET. NISSAN SAID THERE IS NO RECALL. THE CAR IS ONLY 11 YEARS OLD!

I HAVE SPENT OVER $2,000.00 IN REPAIRS DURING THE PAST MONTH. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO GEORGE HARTE NISSAN IN WEST HAVEN, CHARGED $711.00 PROBLEM NOT FIXED. CAR IS BURING OIL, HARD TO START AND THIS IS THE 2ND CATALOTOR CONVENTOR I PUT IN THE CAR.
MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS MAJOR RUSTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS FOUND AFTER THE CARPET ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR STARTED FALLING THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD. THIS ISSUE ALMOST HAD MY WIFE'S FOOT THROUGH THE FLOOR, WITHOUT HER KNOWING. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED (VIA RESEARCH AND REPORTS ON THE NEWS) TO BOTH NISSAN AND NHTSA AND BOTH STATE IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT AND YOU COULD PUT YOUR FOOT THROUGH THE FLOOR?
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS... AT ABOUT 100,000 MILES, CAR BEGAN JERKING WHILE IN MOTION FROM STOP OR RED LIGHT.. WOULD BE FINE FOR A WHILE AND THEN AGAIN BEGAN JERKING. AT APPROXIMATELY 100,000 MILES, TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY NOT WORKING.. CAR IS FINE WHEN ON REVERSE BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND FIRST GEAR WHEN ON DRIVE "D". VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX A CAR THAT OTHER THAN THIS IS IN GREAT CONDITION, CAR IS NOT OPERABLE AT THIS TIME.

RUSTING FLOORBOARDS, FRONT, BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDE
YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE THIS MODEL STALLING BECAUSE OF THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR THERE ARE 1000'S OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONTACTED YOU ABOUT THIS! GO ONLINE! MY DAUGHTER ALMOST GOT KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS! THERE IS SOMETHING BAD WRONG HERE! EITHER AN ENTITY IS BEING PAID OFF OR THE NHTSB IS IGNORING THE ISSUE I DON'T WANT TO HEAR A [XXX] LIE IN YOUR RESPONSE, THE PROBLEM IS REAL! AND DANGEROUS! THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN TWO WEEKS. CAR WAS INVOLVED IN ONE FRONT END AND TWO REAR END ACCICDENTS OVER THE YEARS ALL REQUIRING EXTENSIVE BODY AND BUMPER REPAIR. IN ALL CASES THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT WITH THE FRONT END ACCIDENT AND AT A SLOW SPEED APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE REAR END INCIDENTS. DIRECTION WAS STRAIGHT IN ALL CASES ON LOCAL STREETS NOT HIGHWAYS. LAST INCIDENT IS NOTED IN "WHEN DID THID HAPPEN" DATA. SEEMS UNLIKELY THAT THE BAGS WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED EVER. IN LIGHT OF THE TAKATA RECALL AND OTHER AIRBAG SYSTEM ON/OFF PROBLEMS WITH NEARLY EVERY MANUFACTURER I AM CONCERED WITH THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. MENTION OF THIS OVER THE YEARS WAS MET WITH DISMISAL BY REPAIR SHOPS AND MANUFACTURE'S DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. HOW SAFE IS THIS VEHICLE?

VEHICLE ENGINE STOPED WHILE APPROACHING TRAFFIC LIGHT.WAS A LITTLE LATE IN STARTING UP AGAIN.IT JUST DIED.WENT TO AUTOZONE,GAVE ME A CODE PO335,WHICH INDICATED A FAULT IN THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.CALL THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND ASKED FOR A ECM REPROGRAMING,WHICH IS COVERED ON RECALL RO606,NOTHING WAS DONE.PLEASE HELP.
MY ALTIMA IS WELL MAINTAINED CAR BOUGHT ALL NEW FROM NISSAN DEALERSHIP. STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA NEEDS STATE INSPECTION DONE EVERY YEAR AND THIS YEAR MY ALTIMA FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION. MEANING, MY CAR IS DEEMED NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ON THE STREET BECAUSE OF NISSAN ALTIMA'S DESIGN FLAW MAKING FLOOR-BOARD BEHIND FRONT WHEELS GO RUSTED. I USE THE CAR TO COMMUTE EVERYDAY TO WORK, UNKNOWINGLY EXPOSING MYSELF TO UNFORESEEN DANGER. TAKATA RECALL MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING.I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT ON A CITY STREET...
MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD HAS RUSTED THROUGH. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A LOCAL WELDING SHOP I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A "TYPICAL" ISSUE WITH OLDER NISSAN'S. THEY INFORMED ME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ON ABOUT 6 NISSAN'S IN MY AREA. I FEEL EVEN IF A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN CALLED, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED SOMEHOW OF THE POTENTIAL ISSUE. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW AS THIS IS NOT JUST A RARE OCCURRENCE. MY VEHICLE HAS JUST UNDER 107,000 MILES AND I AM BAFFLED HOW THE OTHER BODY AREAS SHOW NO SIGNS OF RUST WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE AREA OF FLOORBOARD. SORRY FOR MY BELATED COMPLAINT. I JUST LEARNED OF YOUR WEBSITE. EARLY EVENING AUG 18, 2016 ENTIRE REAR WINDOW OF MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA COMPLETELY BLEW OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. FORTUNATELY -- NOBODY WAS SITTING IN BACK SEAT(S) OF MY CAR - NO ADULTS & NO CHILDREN !! WHAT A BIG MESS !! A CLEAR & NORMAL SUMMER EVENING - NO SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS TO EVEN PROVOKE A CRAZY & SUDDEN INCIDENT LIKE THIS. LUCKILY -- I WAS NOT ON A HIGHWAY. I WAS ON A QUIET SUBURBAN ROAD WITH RELATIVELY LOW TRAFFIC. I WAS AT STOP LIGHT & SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD POP SOUND -- ALMOST LIKE A GUN SHOT. I CHECKED MY REAR VIEW MIRROR & MY ENTIRE CAR REAR WINDOW WAS BLOWN OUT WITH VERY LARGE HOLES & TINY SHATTERED GLASS PIECES STREWN ALL OVER INSIDE BACK SEAT AREA OF MY CAR. SOME SHATTERED GLASS EVEN BLEW OUT ALL WAY TO FRONT SECTION WHERE I WAS SEATED !! I IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF THE ROAD & PULLED OVER INTO NEARBY WALGREENS PARKING LOT & CALLED LOCAL POLICE. POLICEMAN CAME & EXAMINED MY CAR. HE DID NOT FEEL ANY FOUL PLAY WAS INVOLVED NOR ANY GUNSHOT NOR BASEBALL THROWN INTO MY REAR CAR WINDOW. I TOOK 24 PHOTOS ? SEE 5 UPLOADED. HE HELPED ME GATHER MOST OF BROKEN & SHATTERED GLASS INTO A PLASTIC BAG. WE NOTED A FEW PIECES HAD DARK BROWN BURN MARKS ON THEM. HE SAID MOST LIKELY IT INDICATED A "SHORT" OCCURRED IN REAR DEFROSTER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. HE COULD NOT PREPARE POLICE REPORT BCUZ IT DID NOT INVOLVE ANY FOUL PLAY. NEXT DAY I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS (NCA). THEY ASKED ME TO EMAIL MY 24 PHOTOS TO NCA & ONLY AGREED TO PAY TO REPLACE REAR CAR WINDOW. I TOLD NCA IT WAS PROBABLY A SHORT IN REAR DEFROSTER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ? A SERIOUS NISSAN SAFETY ISSUE & DEFECT. FOR ME ? A SCARY INCIDENT !! I PURCHASED A USED 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA - ONLY TO FIND MY PASSENGER FLOOR NEAR THE DOOR IS ROTTED/RUSTED OUT!! I DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO SPEND THOUSANDS TO REPAIR THIS. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL? I HAVE SEEN MANY MANY POSTS ON THE MATTER BUT UNFORTUNATELY ONLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR!

THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD IS RUSTED THROUGH. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND A SAFETY ISSUE NOT TO MENTION YOU CAN SMELL EXHAUST FUMES. NISSANPROBLEMS,COM SAYS: "A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT FILED IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS" BUT NISSAN IS TURNING THEIR BACK SAYING THIS IS NOT A DEFECT.
WE NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING DOWN FROM UNDER PASSENGER SIDE AND FOUND THAT BOTH SIDES OF THE FLOORBOARD ARE COMEPLETELY RUSTED OUT WITH BIG HOLES IN THE FLOOR!! WE HAVE A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WE CALLED A BODY SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST OVER $2000 TO FIX. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL AND SAFETY ISSUE?? NISSAN DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS SAFETY?? TRANSMISSION SHIFT ERRATIC FROM 1 TO SECOND ON UPSHIFTING AND CLUNKS HARD FROM 2 TO 1 ON SLOWING DOWN.
I BOUGHT THIS '05 ALTIMA ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. I DON'T DRIVE AT NIGHT A LOT BUT WHEN I DID FOR THE 1ST TIME, I NOTICED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE IN THE TREES. I FOUND AN ADJUSTMENT SCREW ON BACK OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND FOUND THAT WHEN I ADJUSTED IT, IT TURNED BOTH THE HI AND LOW BEAMS DOWN. WHEN THE LOW BEAMS CAME CLOSE TO LEVEL- THE HI BEAMS WERE NOW HITTING THE GROUND 15 FT IN FRONT OF THE CAR. I FOUND A RECALL # ON LINE FOR THIS VERY ISSUE DATING BACK TO BLOGS IN LATE 2004. IT'S # 07E087000. SUNNYVALE (CA) NISSAN TURNED ME AWAY THIS MORNING SAYING THAT BASED ON MY VIN- THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHTS. SAW SOMETHING HANGING DOWN UNDERNEATH DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. TOOK IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD BOTH FRONT FLOOR PANS RUSTED THROUGH AND CARPET SHOWING UNDERNEATH CAR.
BROUGHT MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA TO MECHANIC FOR SERVICE. HE NOTICED BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS ROTTED OUT. EACH SIDE HAS A 6" - 8" WIDE X ~18" LONG RECTANGULAR HOLE IN THE FLOORBOARD UNDERNEATH THE CARPET. YOU ARE ABLE TO PUSH UP ON THE CARPET FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ON BOTH SIDES. THE ONLY THING SEPARATING THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER'S FEET FROM THE ROAD IN THESE AREAS IS THE CARPETING.
AS I WAS TURNING ON A MAIN ROAD, CAR WAS IN DRIVE, STARTED TO TURN RIGHT, GAVE LITTLE GAS, CAR DIED IMMEDIATELY. NO SPUTTERING, JUST STOPPED. THE PERSON BEHIND ALMOST HIT ME.
I JUST NOTICED MY FLOORBOARD IS RUSTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS UNTIL MAYBE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHEN A PART OF THE RUG T J AT COVERS IT CAME APART AND WHEN I LOOKED THROUGH I CAN SEE THE GROUND.
I NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING DOWN UNDER THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE. I HAD A NEIGHBOR WHO IS A MECHANIC LOOK UNDER THE CAR. HE TOLD ME THAT THE UNDER CARRIAGE FLOOR BOARD WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS SO BAD IT WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT. I CAN'T AFFORD THE REPAIR. WHAT CAN I DO?
FLOOR PANELS RUSTING COMPLETELY THROUGH. TIRE MECHANIC NOTED THAT "DRIVER FOOT WELL HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND CARPET IS VISIBLE ON UNDERSIDE OF VEHICLE". INTERNET SEARCH STRONGLY SUGGESTS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE WATER DRAINAGE SYSTEM OF ALTIMAS MADE DURING THIS TIME FRAME (AS YOU ARE AWARE). CAR RUNS BEAUTIFULLY OTHERWISE, BUT I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT HAVING THE CARPET VISIBLE FROM UNDERNEATH IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN.
THE CAR PICK UP TO SLOW AND THEN START PICKING UP LITTLE BY LITTLE
THE FLOOR BOARDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE HAVE ROTTED OUT. WE DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM WHEN MY WIFE ACCIDENTALLY PUSHED HER FOOT THROUGH THE FLOOR WHILE DRIVING 70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY SHE WASN'T HURT. JUDGING BY THE EXTENT OF THE RUST, THIS HAS LIKELY BEEN AN UNKNOWN ISSUE SINCE BEFORE I BOUGHT IT 3 YEARS AGO. I WOULD GUESS THAT IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY RUSTED WELL BEFORE 100K MILES.
THE FLOORBOARDS ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. YOU CAN SEE THE CARPET FROM THE UNDERBED ON BOTH SIDES (DRIVER AND PASSANGER). I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS MAY BE A FLAW IN THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM OF MY CAR AND IT'S PRETTY COSTLY TO GET THIS REPAIRED & TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST, I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT REPAIRED. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ALTIMAS.

FLOOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT ROTTED OUT, HOLE EXPOSED TO THE OUTSIDE.
THERE IS A RUST/CORROSION HOLE IN THE FLOORBOARD BELOW THE DRIVERS FEET. I'M SURE IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR A WHILE BUT I JUST NOTICED IT RECENTLY BECAUSE I SAW A PIECE OF THE FLOOR DANGLING BELOW THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO THE DRIVE POSITION, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 204,000.
MY FRONT FLOORBOARDS ROTTED OUT RESULTING IN A SAFETY ISSUE AND A $1,200 REPAIR BILL. IT WAS DISCOVERED AT A RHODE ISLAND STATE INSPECTION.
AIR BAG SIGNAL ON AND OFF DOES NOT FUNCTION IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR CHOCK.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
TAKATA RECALL WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR STARTED MAKING A SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MY CAR I TURNED DOWN THE MUSIC TO LISTEN TO THE SOUND. AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR MADE ONE LAST SOUND THEN THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING SO I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I GOT OUT TO CHECK THE CAR AND NOTICED IT WAS SMOKING I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND NOTICED IT WAS ON FIRE. I GRABBED MY KIDS OUT THE CAR AND MY BELONGINGS AND WALKED DOWN THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY JUST IN CASE THE CAR BLEW UP. I CALLED THE AMBULANCE AND NOTIFIED THEM ABOUT THE CAR. ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER MY WHOLE ENTIRE CAR WAS IN FLAMES. AS I WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY SOMEONE STOPPED AND LET ME AND MY KIDS SIT IN THE CAR UNTIL MY RIDE CAME. THE FIRE FIGHTERS CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THEY TOWED THE CAR AND WE LEFT.
MY CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED THRU A SCANNER SINCE IT WONT START.AT FIRST IT STARTED NOT WANTING TO TURN ON ON THE FIRST TRY. IT DID THAT FOR ABOUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS TIL I DECIDED TO JUST STATION IT...AND NOW IT CRANKS AS IF IT WANTS TO START UP BUT IT DOESNT START UP. SO IVE REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR BUT IT STILL WONT START SO I WAS TOLD ITS THE FUEL PUMP THAT NEEDS REPLACEMENT SO I WAS GOING TO PURCHASE ONE BUT WAS TOLD THERES A RECALL ON SUCH PART FOR NISSAN ALTIMA 2005. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET IT FIXED?
MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING NOISE. IT WAS ESPECIALLY LOUD WHEN IT WAS NOT MOVING BUT BECAME A LITTLE MORE SILENT ONCE THE CAR WAS MOVING. TOOK IT TO NISSAN TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME MY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS WERE FAILING AND THAT IT HAD TO BE FIXED VERY SOON BEFORE THE CHAIN SNAPS AND DAMAGES THE ENGINE.
