THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS TWO RUST HOLES IN FLOOR PAN WHICH SEEMS UNACCEPTABLE AND A DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP AND HAS BEEN OCCURRING AMONG OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS THE CAR EXTERIOR IS IN GREAT SHAPE MECHANICALLY AND BODY WISE EXCEPT FOR THE FAULTY FLOOR PAN RUST HOLES!!! *TR
FLOOR BOARDS ARE ROTTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. THEY BOTH NEED REPLACMENT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
BOUGHT MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA NEW AND REGULARLY SERVICED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN CRYSTAL LAKE, IL. IT HAS 111,000 MILES ON IT, GARAGE KEPT AND IN PRISTINE CONDITION. ON OCTOBER 15, 2014 A PRIVATE PARTY INFORMED ME OF MY RUSTED FLOORBOARDS. THE DEALERSHIP IN ALL 9 1/2 YEARS NEVER MENTIONED THIS TO ME. CONTACTED NISSAN CORP WHO PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH REGIONAL REP. PHOTOS WERE TAKEN AND ESTIMATE OBTAINED BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM TOLD A TSB WAS ISSUED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT FLOORBOARDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES WERE RUSTED THROUGH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD A FRACTURED ENGINE MOUNT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,009. WE ARE THE SECOND OWNER OF THE CAR, A FAMILY MEMBER WAS THE FIRST AND BOUGHT IT NEW FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. ONE DAY IN OCTOBER 2014 MY HUSBAND GOT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AND SAID IT FELT SQUISHY. HE STUCK HIS HAND UNDER AND COULD FEEL ROT. WE DROVE THE 2.1 MILES HOME AND THEN HE LOOKED. THAT IS WHEN HE DISCOVERED A HOLE AT LEAST 9 INCHES IN THE FLOOR. I ASKED THE PREVIOUS OWNER IF ANYTHING EVER HAPPENED THAT WOULD CAUSE THAT AND HE SAID SO IT WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE DEALER WHO DID ALL THE MAINTENANCE WORK NEVER MENTIONED SEEING A RUST SPOT. NOW THE HOLE IS HUGE AND IS GOING FAST. WE HAVE TO USE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE WE CAN'T AFFORD A NEW ONE. NISSAN SAYS IT IS BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD CAR. MY 1993 HONDA CIVIC (OVER 210,000 WISCONSIN MILES ON IT) AND MY HUSBAND'S 2002 NISSAN SENTRA SER ARE OLDER AND THEY DO NOT HAVE RUST UNDERNEATH. WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH A WINDOW OPEN BECAUSE THE EXHAUST SMELL AT A STOP SIGN OR WHEN THE WIND IS BLOWING AGAINST THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. WE HAVE 2 YOUNG KIDS THAT HAVE TO RIDE IN THIS CAR AS WE NO LONGER HAVE THE CIVIC AND THE SER IS SMALL. WISH NISSAN WOULD OWN THEIR MISTAKE/DESIGN FLAW AND FIX THIS FOR EVERYONE. IT WOULD LOOK GOOD FOR THEM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND SET A "LEAD BY EXAMPLE" INITIATIVE TO ALL CAR MANUFACTURERS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAD OVERHEATED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING REGULAR MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS RUSTED AND RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT. THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE RUST SPREAD TO OTHER PARTS, LIKE THE FRAME AND A HOLE DEVELOPED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TOOK THE CAR TO REPAIR SHOP FOR O/C AND WAS TOLD I HAD SLIGHT RUST UNDERNEATH PASSENGER DOOR. WAS TOLD IT SHOULD BE ALRIGHT FOR ANOTHER INSPECTION. WHEN I WENT FOR INSPECTION I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T INSPECT IT BECAUSE THE RUST HAD GOTTEN SO BAD IN THAT SAME AREA. I PAID CLOSE TO $500. FOR REPAIR AND WAS ALSO TOLD BY OTHERS THAT IT WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THAT YEAR CAR AND THAT IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND HAS BEEN SINCE CHANGED.CAR HAS NEVER BEEN RUN IN THE SALT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS WATER GETTING UP INSIDE THE ARE MENTIONED BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN FLAW AND SITTING THERE TO CAUSE THE RUST. WAS REALLY UPSET ABOUT THIS CONSIDERING THE CAR IS IN FANTASTIC SHAPE .. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD HELP FOR THE REPAIRS... I ALSO WAS TOLD I BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE THE CAR DIDN'T HAVE THE 10 GRACE PERIOD FROM REGISTRATION TO INSPECTION , SO I DID IT IMMEDIATELY. *TR
FLOOR PAN ON BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDES HAS RUSTED THROUGH. BOTH HOLES APPROXIMATELY 6"X14" IN SIZE. CAN SEE TO THE GROUND UNDER GAS FLAP LEVER. FIRST NOTICED AT 159000 MILES. *TR
THE CLUTCH WILL GO TO THE FLOOR. IT WILL HAPPEN WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. THEN IT WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL. IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU START IT OR IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. NO WARNING SIGNS. IT JUST HAPPENS. *TR
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 80,000 MILES ON IT. MY FATHER TOOK HIS CAR INTO BE INSPECTED AND THEY WILL NOT PASS IT BECAUSE OF THE FLOOR BOARDS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, THERE ARE MILLIONS OF DISSATISFIED NISSAN OWNERS WHO ARE BATTLING THIS VERY PROBLEM. NOW, IF MY FATHER CANNOT GET HIS CAR TO PASS INSPECTION, HE CANNOT USE IT. SO FAR, NISSAN HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO HELP WITH HIS ISSUE. MY FATHER HAS CALLED COUNTLESS REPAIR AND BODY SHOPS AND NO ONE WILL REPAIR ANY RUST. NOT EVEN THE DEALERSHIP. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS NOTHING MORE THAN RUDE AND INSENSITIVE BUT DID TELL MY DAD THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPAIR QUESTIONS ABOUT RUSTING FLOOR BOARDS. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE CALL NISSAN CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS WITH THE SAME "SORRY" RESPONSE. NISSAN IS LOOKING AT A VERY LARGE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHICH I WILL PURSUE TO THE FULLEST BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF RESPECT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FOR THEIR CRAFTMANSHIP, LACK OF CONCERN, LACK OF SOLUTIONS. CAR STARTS AND STALLS/ENGINE LIGHT ON. WAS TOLD IT IS THE CRANK AND CAM SENSOR AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION INPUT SPEED SENSOR. WE NOTICED THIS IS A BIG ISSUE AND MANY CARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NOT ALL, INCLUDING OURS. IF THIS IS SUCH A MAJOR ISSUE WHY ARE ONLY SOME BEING REPAIRED BY DEALER. VEHICLE FLOOR BOARDS HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS THERE WERE 12 INCH HOLES IN THE FLOOR BOARDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDES AND IT WAS NOT SAFE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR PAN WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE NEW AND THE FLOOR BOARDS ESPECIALLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAVE ROTTED OUT AND MY CARPET IS GETTING RUINED FROM THE WET ROADS BECAUSE IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD, I AM AFRAID I MAY FALL THRU THE FLOOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE HAD EXCESSIVE RUST AND A HOLE WAS DEVELOPING UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD. THE BOTTOM OF MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IS RUSTING THROUGH TO THE FLOOR BOARDS. THERE IS ABOUT A 10 INCH ROUND AREA ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THERE IS EXCESSIVE RUST. I AM WONDERING IF IT IS A DEFECT AS I EVEN HAD RUST PROOFING DONE AT THE TIME THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. THE RUST PROOFING MAY'VE SLOWED THE PROGRESS BUT COULDN'T PREVENT THE PROBLEM (AND THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED). *TR
RUSTED OUT FLOOR PAN ON DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
MY CAR FAILED MA INSPECTION BECAUSE THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR PAN IS RUSTED OUT. THE HOLE IS APPROXIMATELY 12 BY 10 INCHES. I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. NISSAN CLAIMS IT IS CAUSED BY SALT IN THE NORTH EAST, BUT IF THAT WAS TRUE, THE ENTIRE FLOOR PAN WOULD HAVE RUST, NOT JUST ISOLATED TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. LET ME REPEAT, THE REST OF THE FLOOR PAN IS FLAWLESS, NO SIGNS OF RUST WHATSOEVER. CLEARLY THIS IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING FLAW. SOME CUSTOMERS HAVE BOTH FRONT SIDES RUSTED OUT. MY PASSENGER SIDE IS FINE AS THE ASSEMBLY LINE "HOLE" HAS BEEN PROPERLY FILLED IN. I HAVE TO ASSUME THE DRIVER SIDE WAS LEFT OPEN. THERE ARE MANY PICTURES ON THE WEB SHOWING EARLIER PHASES OF THIS PROBLEM SHOWING THAT THE RUST STARTED AT THE ASSEMBLY LINE HOLE. BASICALLY, THIS SMALL HOLE (1 INCH DIAMETER) ALLOWS WATER INTO THE INTERIOR. THE NOISE DAMPENING MATERIAL AND CARPET SOAK IT UP. THE WETNESS GOES UNDETECTED BY THE DRIVER BECAUSE THE FLOOR MAT HAS RUBBER BACKING, THEREBY SHOWING NO SIGNS OF WETNESS. AS WITH ANY PERPETUAL METAL WETNESS PROBLEM, RUST EVENTUALLY BECOMES A MAJOR PROBLEM. PLEASE MAKE NISSAN TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR

DROPPED CAR OFF FOR STATE INSPECTION. WAS TOLD THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS WERE RUSTED THROUGH. NOT ABLE TO PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. IT ALLOWS FUMES TO ENTER THE CAR AND WEAKENS THE FLOOR FOR POSSIBLY PUTTING FOOT OR FEET THROUGH FLOOR BOARD. DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN SHOULD PAY OR HELP PAY FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
MY FLOORBOARDS ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE ROTTING THROUGH ON MY PASSENGER SIDE. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 70K MILES . IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION. I'M WORRIED THAT MY PASSENGERS FEET MAY GO THROUGH THE FLOOR. ON AUGUST 18, 2014, AFTER DROPPING MY SON OFF AT SCHOOL. I CAME TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED, I STARTED TO TAKE OFF AND NOTICED THE CAR HAS SHUT DOWN. I EVENTUALLY MADE IT HOME WITH THE CAR GOING A VERY LOW SPEED AND THEN SPEED UP, BUT WHEN CAR TO A START THE ENGINE STALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT ON A COMPUTER TO SEE WHAT THE DIAGNOSIS WERE AND IT WAS THE CAMSHAFT SENSORS AND CRANKSHAFT SENSOR COSTING $80 DOLLARS FOR TWO AND $70 FOR ANOTHER, HOWEVER THESE ITEMS HAS BEEN CHANGED ALONG WITH A TUNE UP AND THE CAR IS DOING THE SAME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE COMPUTER, I NOTICED THERE WERE RECALLS ON THE CRANKSHAFT SENSORS AND THE ECM. I CONTACTED NISSAN DEALER, AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT SHOWING SO THE PROBLEM HAD TO BEEN DONE, BECAUSE I'M THE SECOND OWNER. IT'S FUNNY HOW THIS PROBLEM COMES ABOUT AFTER 4 1/2 YEARS OF HAVING THIS VEHICLE AND THE RECALL SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN TAKING CARE OF WITH THE FIRST OWNER. THIS IS AN INCONVENIENCE AND IT'S FRUSTRATING. THERE IS ALSO RUSTING OF THE FLOOR UNDER THE CAR, YOU CAN SEE THE FLOOR COMING DOWN FROM UNDER THE CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AT THE COST OF THE DEALERS AND NOT THE OWNERS. THIS IS DANGEROUS, YOU CAN BE DRIVING AT A SPEED AND THE CAR JUST STOP, WHICH CAN CAUSE A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. *TR

ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING HOME AND MAKING A LEFT TURN IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. WE ARE ONLY FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING VEHICLES! LONG BEACH HOOMAN NISSAN SAID THERE WAS NO CODE WHEN THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND ALTHOUGH THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE TECHNICIAN THE NEXT DAY WHEN THEY TEST DROVE MY CAR, THEY'VE WASHED THEIR HANDS FROM IT. SERVICE REP SAID WE CAN CONTACT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. WE CALLED AND GOT A CALL CENTER IN THE PHILIPPINES. NISSAN WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL ME ON AN EXPEDITED BASIS BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL AFTER LEAVING 3 MESSAGES FOR TEL. 615-725-7569. I AM WITHOUT A DRIVABLE SAFE CAR AND STUCK IN A PHONE MESSAGING BLACK HOLE! WHAT AM I TO DO AFTER ONLY 58,000 MILES? DO I HAVE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND INJURED BEFORE NISSAN WILL PAY ATTENTION? IN ADDITION, THE DEALER REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION AT THE TUNE OF $4000 IN JULY 2013 BECAUSE OF A SIMILAR ENGINE STALL ISSUE WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. THIS CAR IS STILL UNSAFE AND NOT DRIVABLE AND WE WASTED $4000 FOR A TRANSMISSION UNNECESSARILY, SINCE THE SAME ISSUE IS RECURRING. THIS CAR HAS ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER DEFECTS. VARIOUS DEALERS CONCLUDED DIFFERENT DIAGNOSES AT DIFFERENT TIMES BUT NO DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT PERMANENTLY. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA NOT ONLY PUT OUT AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, BUT ALSO DECEIVED ME AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER ALL THESE YEARS PAYING THE DEALERS FOR BOGUS REPAIRS. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
YESTERDAY, AUGUST 6TH 2014 I HAD A GENTLEMAN COME UP TO ME WITH MY FRIENDS. HE TOLD ME HIS WIFE HAD THE SAME MODEL NISSAN ALTIMA THAT I HAVE. HE LOOKED UNDER MY CAR AND TOLD ME, HIS WIFE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM OF RUSTING OUT FLOOR PANS UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT AND PASSENGER SEAT. I CALLED NISSAN AND GOT A CASE NUMBER, IN THE MEANWHILE I HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR AND IT IS NOT JUST RUST, THERE IS A HOLE UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY MECHANIC SAID IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND IT IS DANGEROUS! I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM MY EX HUSBAND'S ESTATE. HE BOUGHT IT NEW FROM GERALD NISSAN IN NORTH AURORA, IL . HE HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE ON THE CAR. I GOT IT WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 MILES. I DID PROCEED TO HAVE THE NISSAN MECHANICS LOOK IT OVER TO REPORT BACK TO NISSAN AND IT IS THE WHOLE PAN COVERING THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR, COST $3,000. I LISTED A CONSUMER COMPLAINT, BUT NISSAN DOES NOT SEE THESE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON MY EXACT CAR ON THIS SITE. I DO NOT THINK THAT HAVING MY SAFETY THREATENED BY THIS COMPANY'S NEGLECT IS A LAUGHING MATTER. I AM A REAL ESTATE BROKER AND USE MY CAR FOR BUSINESS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND BEING A CORPORATE ENTITY, THEY DO NOT FEEL THAT THEY HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR ERRORS. I AM 68 YEARS OLD AND I WANT TO LIVE. CAN YOU HELP ME?
TRYING TO LEAVE FOR WORK ONE MORNING AND MY CAR STOPS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TRY TO TURN IT ON, AND IT DOES BUT AS I START SPEEDING UP IT TURNS OFF AGAIN (AT THE INTERSECTION) AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. IT ALMOST CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND ME TO REAR END ME BUT HE SWERVED TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I FOUND OUT IT WAS A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT FROM THE MECHANIC AND TOLD ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL. L CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BUT NOT ON MY CAR (DIFFERENT YEAR), INSTEAD THEY SAID THEY COULD CHANGE THE PART FOR $350 WITH LABOR. SO I COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED SOMEONE OR VISE VERSA AND IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT? THIS CAR HAS VERY LITTLE MILAGE ONLY 25000 MILES (42000KM) AND THE PASSANGER FLOOR BOARD IS ROTTED OUT. I BELIEVE THAT THIS WEAKENS THE BODY INTEGRITY OF THE CAR. VEHICLE BRIEFLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING BEGINNING 2014, LIKE A HICK-UP, INTERRUPTION OF POWER. HOWEVER IT WOULD CONTINUE. NO REAL PROBLEMS AT FIRST. I NOTICED RUST PARTICLES ON MY DRIVEWAY AND INSPECTED THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FLOOR BOARDS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES HAVE COMPLETELY ROTTED/RUSTED OUT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR THAT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF FUMES AND THE INSTABILITY OF THE CAR'S FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE TOOLS TO PERFORM THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). JUST FOUND OUT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR IS RUSTED, AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I LEARN THAT MOST NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS EXPERIENCE THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE! THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE INSIDE FLOOR BECOMES WEAK AND CAN CAVE IN FROM THE RUST IF NOT REPAIRED. REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE IS COSTLY AND I'VE READ THAT NISSAN DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS A CRAFTSMANSHIP ISSUE BUT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
