THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO DROP ALL THE WAY TO E. NO WARNING LIGHT THAT FUEL IS LOW. WHILE ON A CITY STREET, ON THE ON RAMP TO AN INTERSTATE MY CAR'S ENGINE JUST STOPPED, NO SPUTTER, NO LAGGING JUST 3K RPM TO 0 RPM. I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRAL AND COAST TO THE SHOULDER ON THE ON RAMP. UNABLE TO RESTART ENGINE. CRANKED BUT NONSTART. ADDED FUEL AND CAR STARTED RIGHT UP. AT THE TIME OF THE STALL THE FUEL GAUGE READ APPROXIMATELY 33/8 OF A TANK OF GAS. PRIOR TO THIS OCCURING, WHEN TANK WOULD GET LOW THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 1/8TH OF A TANK.. ABOUT HALFWAY BEEN THE 1/4 MARK AND E. SINCE THIS OCCURED I HAVE TESTED THE FUEL PUMP, SENDING UNIT AND FUEL LEVEL FLOAT, AND THEY ALL TEST OK.. WHEN THE TANK WAS FILLED AFTER THIS THE FUEL GAUGE MOVED BACK UP TO THE FULL MARK (SLIGHTLY ABOVE,) SO THE NEEDLE IS NOT STUCK.
FUEL CUSTER GAGE
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN AND WILL NOT RESTART WITH THE FUEL GAGE SHOWING 1/4 TANK. IT WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL WHICH RESULTED IN FUEL LINE REQUIRING CLEANING AND REPLACEMENT OF FUEL PUMP. MULTISERVICE EAGLE TIRE REPLACED MULTIPLE FUEL PUMPS WITH NO SUCCESS. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND MAINTENANCE SHOP EXPRESSED NO RESOLUTION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. MULTI SERVICE EAGLE TIRE REMOVED PUMP TO CHECK FOR BENT FLOAT ARM AND EVERYTHING LOOKED OKAY. WHEN TESTING RESISTANCE OF FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WEIRD READING AT BOTTOM END OF SPECTRUM AND IN THE MIDDLE SAW A HIGH RESISTANCE READING. POSSIBLE SENDING UNIT AND/OR GAUGE CLUSTER CONCERN. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN FILLING TANK THE FUEL GAGE REFLECTS 440 MILES AVAILABLE; THIS READING IS USUALLY 330. AFTER USING ALL AVAILABLE RESOURCES, REPAIR SHOP RETURNED VEHICLE TO CUSTOMER WITHOUT REPAIR. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF DRIVER AND OTHER VEHICLES IF THIS EVENT HAPPENS AGAIN. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS SHARED BY THREE TEENAGERS AND TWO ADULTS. I'M CONCERNED AN ACCIDENT IS INEVITABLE DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC PERIODS.
VEHICLE ENGINE STOPED WHILE APPROACHING TRAFFIC LIGHT.WAS A LITTLE LATE IN STARTING UP AGAIN.IT JUST DIED.WENT TO AUTOZONE,GAVE ME A CODE PO335,WHICH INDICATED A FAULT IN THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.CALL THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND ASKED FOR A ECM REPROGRAMING,WHICH IS COVERED ON RECALL RO606,NOTHING WAS DONE.PLEASE HELP.
MY CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED THRU A SCANNER SINCE IT WONT START.AT FIRST IT STARTED NOT WANTING TO TURN ON ON THE FIRST TRY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 204,000.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V269000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE) HOWEVER THE DEALER ADVISED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT ONLY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO OBTAIN THE NECESSARY PART NEEDED TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 62,000.
CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND CREEPS ALONG IN LIMP HOME MODE. ITS VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS NHTSA RECALL 13V43000 OF SEPT. 26, 2013, THAT AFFECTS NISSAN INFINITI MODELS. AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING ONCE OR TWICE THE PROBLEM WILL DISAPPEAR. IN TRAFFIC THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAPPENS 2 OR 3 TIMES A YEAR. *TR
I WOULD START THE CAR AND IT WOULD HESITATE I TOOK IT IN TO GOODYEAR THEY SAID IT HAD A BAD SENSOR HAVE TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENOR THEY CHANGED IT AND AS TIME HAS PASSED IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING NISSAN WONT FIX IT UNTIL THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON IVE GONE THROUGH THESE COMPLAINTS HERE ON THIS SITE AND ALL ARE EXACTLY LIKE MINE, YOU START THE CAR AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO START BUT DOESN'T I HAVE TO TRY IT A FEW TIMES THEN IT WILL START. *JS
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS DEFECTIVE CRANK SENSOR. THE THROTTLE STOPS WORKING NOT ALLOWING FUEL TO THE ENGINE THEREFORE STALLING THE CAR EVEN IN MOTION. NISSAN HAS REDESIGNED REPLACEMENTS BUT ARE INCORRECTLY REDESIGNED. EVEN WITH WARRANTY NISSAN REFUSES TO REMEDY LEAVING PEOPLE WITHOUT CARS. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE GAUGES THAT TURN ON THE DEFROSTER CAUSE THE DRIVER TO TAKE THEIR EYES OFF OF THE ROAD. THE GAS CAP IS AT AN AWKWARD ANGLE AND TOO HARD TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAS BACK PROBLEMS AND MUST SIT IN THE DRIVER SEAT AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO BE TOO CLOSE TO THE AIRBAG. UPDATED 03/17/06. *JB
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO. AT APPROXIAMATELY 2950 MILES, MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. IMMEDIATLY AFTER THAT MY CAR BECAME SLUGGISH AND IS HAVING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AND FEELS LIKE IT IS DRAGGING. BROUGHT TO DEALER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND THEY HAVE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART. THEY RELEASED THE CAR TO ME. I ASKED THEM IF IT WERE OKAY TO DRIVE, AND IF DOING SO WOULD IT MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE, THEY ADVISED NO, IT IS OKAY TO DRIVE. I CALLED IN 3 DAYS LATER TO SEE IF THE PART WAS RECIEVED, THEY STATED IT WAS NOT, THEY CLAIM THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER.
