TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FLOORBOARDS OF THE DRIVER SIDE HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT POSTED ABOUT NUMEROUS TIMES ONLINE, WITH NO RESPONSE FROM NISSAN. IT SEEMS THAT ALTIMAS FROM ATLEAST 2003-2006 WERE EFFECTED. NO RECALL HAS BEEN PLACED THAT I HAVE FOUND, ALTHOUGH MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS AND DISCUSSIONS ABOUT MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
RUSTED FLOORBOARDS AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. *TR
DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT FLOOR BOARDS ARE ROTTED. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAS HAD ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE COMPLETED SINCE PURCHASED NEW. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIRS REFUSED TO REPAIR STATING THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. FAILURE IS DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT, IMPROPER RUST PROTECTION OF SHEET METAL, AND WATER DRAINAGE ISSUES. *TR
THE FRONT FLOOR PANS HAVE RUSTTED AWAY AND PART OF THE FLOOR IS MISSING DUE TO RUSTING. NISSAN IS VERY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND OFFERED TO INSTALL A FLOOR FIX AT A COST OF $700.
UPON TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE FLOORBOARDS UNDER THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEATS ARE EATEN AWAY BY RUST AND EACH SIDE WILL COST $1000 TO REPAIR BY WELDING A PLATE TO IT. IT IS SO SEVERE THAT THE CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION AND BE REJECTED FOR SAFETY REASONS, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER...*JS
IN BOTH ACCIDENTS, WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EACH OTHER, THE CAR WAS STOPPED, IN PARK ONCE AND IN NEUTRAL THE OTHER. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED ON BY ME AND PUT INTO DRIVE GEAR, IT SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AT TREMENDOUS SPEED, WITHOUT MY FOOT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR, COLLIDING WITH THE ANOTHER VEHICLE. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN SERVICE AT THE TIME. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND DIDN'T PUT IT IN THEIR SERVICE REPORT. THREE DAYS AGO, THE TOW TUCK DRIVER SHOWED ME THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR CAUSING THE CAR TO ROAR INTO LIFE AND GO FROM 1000 TO 2000 RPMS IN AN INSTANT. NISSAN ALMOST CAUSED MY AND OTHER'S DEATH! I DROVE THE CAR FOR ONE YEAR WITH MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE EACH TIME I STARTED IT. CRIMINAL! HELP! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE RUST WAS BUILDING UP ON THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE UNDER BODY EXPERIENCED TOO MUCH MOISTURE AND AS A RESULT, THE ENTIRE UNDER BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE RUST ISSUE AND WAS ADVISED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,700.
SOMEONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME TURNING LEFT ACROSS THE HIGHWAY WHERE I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40MPH. I HIT THE BRAKES HARD, BUT STILL HIT HER IN THE SIDE AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE COLLISION SHOP HAS ESTIMATED IT WILL BE TOTALED, THE BUMPER AND FENDERS AND HOOD ALL NEED REPLACED IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL ENGINE/MOTOR PARTS. THE POLICE SAID AN IMPACT CAUSING THAT MUCH DAMAGE SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. FORTUNATELY, MY SEAT BELT HELD AND MY HEAD DID NOT HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE BELT LEFT A GOOD-SIZED BURN ON MY NECK, AND BRUISED MY CHEST AND RIGHT HIP. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
TOOK MY CAR FOR ITS YEARLY STATE INSPECTION AND IT WAS REJECTED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE FLOOR HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND NOW NEEDS TO GO TO A BODY SHOP TO HAVE THE DRIVERS FLOOR REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE SECOND VEHICLE WAS ALSO TRAVELING 65 MPH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SPINAL INJURIES AND A CHILD PASSENGER THAT WAS SECURED IN A BOOSTER SEAT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT LEG. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
THE FRONT FLOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS CRACKED AND RUSTED THROUGH WHICH IS UNSAFE. *TR
MY ALTIMA'S TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR WHILE TAKING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. IT STARTED SLIPPING BAD ENOUGH WHERE I FELT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED. AS I PULLED OFF A MAIN ROAD ONTO A SIDE STREET, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE TURNING AND A VEHICLE NEARLY STRUCK ME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. LUCKILY THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO GEAR AT THE LAST POSSIBLE SECOND SO I COULD ESCAPE THE ACCIDENT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE V6 ALTIMA TRANSMISSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC OBSERVED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC ADDED OIL TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE OIL HAD TO BE REFILLED EVERY TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
ON MY WAY TO WORK, I DROVE APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF OF A MILE. FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND AS I WAS ABOUT TO TURN ONTO STONE MOUNTAIN FREEWAY-HWY 78, MY CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE. I HAD TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. I PUT ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF ABOUT ONE-HALF OF A MILE FURTHER. WHILE TRYING TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE CAR LURCHED AND PICKED-UP ITS NORMAL SPEED. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY RAN A SELF DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THIS IS WHAT CAME UP: A/T 1ST GR FNCTN [P0731] ONCE AT WORK, A CO-WORKER GOOGLED P0731, AND FOUND THIS RECALL ID # 07V527000 STATING THAT ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR. I CALLED NISSAN. THEY SAID MY SENSOR HAD BEEN REPLACED IN 2007. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN 2013. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, IT HAPPENED AGAIN RIGHT OUTSIDE OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND BEFORE I ENTERED THE FREEWAY. THIS TIME AT ABOUT 10 MPH. I SLOWLY ROAD ON A RARELY TRAVELED ACCESS ROAD. I JUST LET THE CAR CRAWL. I DID NOT TRY TO FORCE ANYTHING. AFTER ABOUT ONE MILE, THE CAR LURCHED AND THE SPEED BECAME NORMAL AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPEN ONE ADDITIONAL TIME SINCE. ON SATURDAY, 9-21-2013, I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP CLOSE TO MY APARTMENT AND I WAS WILLING TO PAY TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED, BUT I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT IF THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY CAN NOT REPAIR IT. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER TO CALL NISSAN CORPORATE AND ASK THEM TO OPEN A CASE. I DID. A PERSON CALLED ME BACK AND BASICALLY REITERATED THAT IF THE TECHNICIAN CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY CAN NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE EVEN IF MY LIFE IS IN DANGER BECAUSE I'M AT RISK OF BEING IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO A DOCUMENTED NISSAN RECALLED DEFECT. *JS
ON OUR RETURN TRIP HOME FROM VACATION WE STOPPED FOR GAS TURNING THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN WE TRIED TO RESTART AFTER FILLING UP IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT AND ABOUT A MILE LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY WENT OFF AFTER THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE CAR SEEMED TO DECELERATE THEN JOLT FORWARD. THE NEXT DAY AFTER DRIVING FOR AN HOUR, THEN TURNED OFF, DIFFICULT TO START AGAIN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WHEN CHECKED WITH A CODE READER THE CODES CAME UP WITH DEFECTS TO THE CAM AND CRANK SHAFT SENSORS. WE CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A NOT UNCOMMON PROBLEM FOR OUR MODEL AND THERE WAS A VIN SPECIFIC RECALL. WE CALLED THE DEALER WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM WHO THEN DIRECTED US TO CALL NISSAN USA. THEY TOLD US EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM WAS SIMILAR (THE SAME) AS THE RECALL, OUR CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, SORRY. COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $628.50!!!! CURRENTLY CHECKING OUR OPTIONS FOR SOME SORT OF RECOURSE TO RECOUP SOME OF THE REPAIR COST. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 06V223000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. MY 2006 ALTIMA HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED, SERVICED AND DRIVEN WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL RECENTLY WHILE REPAIRING A LEAKING RADIATOR HOSE, I NOTICED THAT BOTH THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVERS FLOOR HAD A RUSTED THRU HOLE IN THE SAME LOCATION, RIGHT WHERE THE FEET WOULD REST. NO OTHER PART OF THE FLOOR PAN OR UNDERCARRIAGE HAS ANY RUST. I BROUGHT CAR TO A BODY SHOP AND AS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALTIMAS IN THIS YEAR RANGE. FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND IN MY RESEARCH, NISSAN IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE . *TR
SO AFTER MY HUSBAND REPLACED A FAULTY BRAKE CALIPER ON THE LEFT REAR OF MY ALTIMA HE PROCEEDED TO ROTATE THE TIRES. IT WAS THEN HE DISCOVERED MY DRIVER SIDE FLOOR PAN COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. WE HAD BEEN NOTICING A "WET CAR" SMELL ON OCCASION, BUT I WOULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED THIS. I AM SO DISGUSTED. TO BEAT IT ALL, NISSAN WON'T RECTIFY THIS?? THAT'S BULL@$#T. I HAD A 1995 ALTIMA THAT I DROVE FOR OVER A DECADE WITH OVER 200000 MILES ON IT BEFORE I TRADED IT IN. THE RELIABILITY OF IT WAS WHAT PROMPTED ME TO PURCHASE ANOTHER. THOUGH MY HUSBAND CAN REPLACE THE DAMAGED AREA, THE POINT IS HE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. I PROMISE YOU THIS, IT IS THE LAST NISSAN ANYTHING I'LL EVER BUY. I GUESS THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR NOT BUYING AMERICAN ENGINEERED/MADE/CONCEIVED (KARMA BIT ME IN THE BUTT). I'LL GO BACK TO FORD FOR SURE. *TR
VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. WAS ABLE TO START BACK UP AND WENT TO PARK. HOOD OF VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY HOT. MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD ISSUES STARTING CAR AFTER HAVING DRIVEN IT. CAR CRANKS FINE IN THE MORNING. I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE HOOD OPEN WHEN I GET HOME TO ALLOW ENGINE TO COOL. CAR WILL START FINE AGAIN AFTER AN HOUR OR TWO BUT SOMETIMES TAKING UP TO 5 HOURS. I CAN FEEL WHEN THE CAR IS ABOUT READY TO GIVE OUT AS IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHEN GAS IS PUSHED UNTIL YOU GET AROUND 45MPH. I HAVE EVEN FELT CAR PULL/JERK FORWARD WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHEN I LET UP BRAKE A LITTLE BIT. I HAVE TO KEEP A GOOD DISTANCE FROM CARS AHEAD OF ME TO ENSURE I WONT HIT ANYONE IF IT PULLS FORWARD. *TR
THE VEHICLE LISTED ABOVE WENT IN FOR A OIL CHANGE THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT DATE LISTED ABOVE. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE OIL CHANGE THE OIL INDICATOR BEGAN TO FLASH, CALLING THE MECHANIC INSTRUCTED FOR THE CAR TO BE BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT A EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL WAS CONSUMED, THE MECHANIC FURTHER NOTICE THAT THERE WAS NO LEAK UNDER OR AROUND THE VEHICLE TO LOSE OIL, COMING TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE ENGINE HAD CONSUMED ALL OF THE OIL. HE PROCEEDED TO PUT MORE OIL IN THE CAR. A WEEK LATER I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO KNOCK, THAT THE ENGINE HAD BEEN DAMAGED. I PROCEEDED TO LOOK TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE LISTED ABOVE. I FOUND ON THE WEBSITE WWW.SAFER CAR.GOV HAD LISTED THE EXACT THING THAT HAPPEN TO THE VEHICLE LISTED ABOVE. THE RECALL: CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.5L ENGINES MAY EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AS A RESULT OF IMPROPER PERFORMANCE OF THE PISTON RINGS. IF THE OIL IS NOT MAINTAINED AT LEAST AT THE MINIMUM LEVEL, ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR AND IN EXTREME CASES RESULT IN AN ENGINE FIRE THIS IS THE VERY THIN THAT HAPPEN TO THE VEHICLE LISTED ABOVE AND NOW THE ENGINE HAS CEASED. I CONTACTED NISSAN MAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE ONLY OPEN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE LISTED ABOVE HAVE A REPROGRAM ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM).I'M LOOKING FOR HELP BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THE CAR LISTED ABOVE SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY NISSAN FOR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. *TR
INSPECTION ON AUGUST 5, 2013 REVEALED RUSTED HOLES IN 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 7 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN A NISSAN BRAND FAMILY SINCE 1989 AND HAVE TAKEN EXTRA MAINTENANCE MEASURES TO GET MY VEHICLES PAST 200,000. AFTER RESEARCHING THE WEB, MANY FORUMS SHOW NISSAN IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS THIS MAJOR COMMON PROBLEM. I WILL CONSIDER REPAIRING MY VEHICLE AND TRADING IN TO ANOTHER MANUFACTURER. *TR

CAR IS GETTING STUCK IN 5TH GEAR WHICH CAUSES STALL OUTS WHILE DRIVING AND NO ACCELERATION-ONLY 102,000 MILES-HESITATES, JERKS AND STALLS OUT RANDOMLY. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND I NOTICED TODAY THAT THE FLOORBOARDS ON BOTH SIDES IN THE FRONT ARE RUSTED RIGHT THROUGH. BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE FOR OTHER CONSUMERS. *TR
FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD IS RUSTING OUT ON MY WIFE'S 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THERE WAS A MUSTY SMELL BUILDUP IN HER CAR. ON INSPECTION, FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE CARPETING WAS DAMP. THE FLOORBOARD HAD 2 LARGE SPOTS WERE IT WAS STARTING TO RUST AWAY. WE HAVE ALWAYS KEPT THE CAR WASHED AND CLEANED THROUGHOUT OUR OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL AND SOLE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLES. *TR
PREMATURE UNDERCARRIAGE RUSTING & ROT UNDER PASSENGER & DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE. VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2002-2006 NISSAN ALTIMA'S. CONTACTED NISSAN OF AMERICA, WAS TOLD IT CANNOT BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF LOCATION. I CANNOT IMAGINE THIS CAR BEING SAFE IN A COLLISION, SEEING AS THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS ROTTED OUT. *TR
HANDLING OF THE NISSAN ALTIMA CRANK SHAFT SENSOR RECALL IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. NO NOTICE OF THE RECALL WAS EVER SENT, WHICH MEANT WE FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY: WHEN THE CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY, WITHOUT WARNING (EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL THAT WASN'T SENT) I ONLY FOUND THE RECALL AFTER A LOCAL NON-NISSAN MECHANIC TOLD ME ABOUT IT, AND THEN WHEN I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER, THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF THE RECALL. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA SER. I HAVE HAD THE MOTOR REPLACED AND THE ENTIRE CLUTCH KIT AND SLAVE CYLINDER REPLACED. AFTER HAVING THE CLUTCH PARTS REPLACED THE PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR A SMALL HANDFUL OF TIMES. NOW, IT IS NEARLY A DAILY OCCURRENCE AND IT IS CONSISTENTLY LASTING LONGER AND LONGER EACH TIME. IT STILL ALLOWS FOR SPORADIC SHIFTING IN NON SPECIFIC GEARS WHILE THE PEDAL IS ON THE FLOOR. I CAN PICK UP THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT AND PUT IT BACK IN PLACE BUT WHEN IT APPLY ANY PRESSURE IT FALLS BACK TO THE FLOOR AND STAYS THERE UNTIL I PICK IT BACK UP WITH MY FOOT. THIS ISSUE HAS NEARLY CAUSED TO BE IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS, ALL OF WHICH I NARROWLY AVOIDED BY QUICKLY MANEUVERING MY VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. *TR
WHILE ENTERING MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA WHILE IT WAS PARKED ON JUNE 15TH 2013, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR ONLY TO FIND MY CLUTCH PEDAL WAS PRESSED UP ALL THE WAY INTO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR GIVING THE APPEARANCE OF NOT HAVING A CLUTCH PEDAL. I HAD TO USE MY HAND TO PULL THE PEDAL BACK DOWN AT WHICH POINT IT FELL TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. AFTER REPEATEDLY PRESSING DOWN ON THE PEDAL AND PULLING IT BACK UP, THE PEDAL EVENTUALLY GAVE RESISTANCE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2010 AND FOR THE YEAR FOLLOWING I HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO KOEPPEL NISSAN IN JACKSON HEIGHTS MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE THE CLUTCH PEDAL REPLACED. THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE ENTIRE CLUTCH SYSTEM ROUGHLY THE SUMMER OF 2011. AND I AM NOW HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE PEDAL BARELY GIVING RESISTANCE WHEN PRESSED AS WELL AS THE PEDAL FALLING TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE ON MY WAY HOME. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, VEHICLE STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. SEL CAME ON AND ERROR CODE SAID "CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR". TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL GARAGE AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON NISSAN ALTIMA. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THIS CAR OR SENSOR BUT THEY COULD REPROGRAM THE ECM TO FIX IT. WENT ONLINE AND I SEE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS SENSOR. NISSAN MECHANIC ADMITTED THE SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS REDESIGNED TO CORRECT THE ERROR AND INCLUDES A CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AS WELL SINCE THEY GO OUT FREQUENTLY AS WELL. IF NISSAN IS AWARE OF ISSUE AND HAS REDESIGNED THE REPLACEMENT PART, WHY NO RECALL. ON JUNE 28 2013 TOOK MY CAR TO GET IT INSPECT AND THEY WOULD NOT PASS THE INSPECTION DUE TO THERE WAS A RUSTY HOLE UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR MAT OUTSIDE THE CAR. A HOLE RIGHT ON THE DRIVER SIDE THEY TOLD ME THEY SEE A LOT OF OLDER MODEL NISSAN WITH THIS PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO GET IT FIX TO PASS INSPECTION. I CALL NISSAN CONSUMER AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT AND TOLD ME TO GO TO NISSAN BODY SHOP BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I BROUGHT THIS CAR NEW 2007 WITH 12 MILES AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN ALSO FOR MANY YEARS I HAVE A WATER LEAK WHERE THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND AND I HAVE TAKE TO THE NISSAN DEALER SHIP FOR AT LEAST 2 THREE YEARS AND NOW THERE WHITE MOLD IN THE CAR THEY WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. *TR
I HAD COOLANT SERVICE AND AFTER THAT I STARTED EXPERIENCING LOW LEVELS OF COOLANT WHICH LED TO OVERHEATING OF CAR. I KEPT GETTING THE CAR CHECK TO FIND OUT IF THERE WERE LEAKS. I CHECKED RECALL NOTICES AND THEN WAS TOLD I NEEDED SENSORS. I CALLED NISSAN IN SEPTEMBER AND WAS TOLD OUT OF THE 653K CARS MINE WAS NOT AFFECTED! I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE. I THEN HAD SENSORS REPLACED (CRANKSHAFT AND SPEED) . NOW I'M BEING TOLD HEAD GASKET BLOWN AND ENGINE NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE RECALL FROM NISSAN SAYS THERE WE ENGINE COOLING PROBLEMS. *TR

I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I BOUGHT THE CAR THREE YEARS AGO AS A CERTIFIED NISSAN WITH A 100000 MILE WARRANTY. 6/08 - CAR LURCHED AND TRIED TO STALL ON INTERSTATE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO MECHANIC'S SHOP. ISSUE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR BY MECHANIC, AND PART WAS REPLACED WITH AN OEM PART BUT THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM SO THE SENSOR WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH THE SENSOR THAT WAS PULLED OUT. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP FROM MECHANIC'S SHOP ON 6/15 (YES, HE HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK). ISSUE WAS DETERMINED TO BE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, WHICH WAS REPLACED. ONE DAY AND 20 MILES LATER THE PROBLEM HAS MANIFESTED ITSELF...CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND CAR DOES NOT WANT TO START. THIS SENSOR WAS PART OF A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR 2006 ALTIMAS BUT I WAS TOLD MY CAR (WHEN CHECKING VIN) WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 07V52700 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

JUST WANTED TO ADD MY COMPLAINT ABOUT MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA WHICH HAD SEVERE RUST UNDER BOTH SIDES OF CAR UNDER THE SEATS. AT THE TIME IT WAS NOTICED THE CAR HAD 55823 MILES AND WAS SERVICED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THE PREVIOUS 4 YEARS AND JUST 3 MONTHS PRIOR BEING NOTICED. ALTHOUGH I HAD TO PAY SAID DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR AFTER FIGHTING WITH NISSAN AND DEALERSHIP FOR 3 MONTHS. JUST WANTED TO ADD MY COMPLAINT AFTER SEEING ARTICLE ON TV NEWS. ALTHOUGH CAR WAS 7 YRS. OLD IT SHOULD NOT HAVE RUSTED WITH 55000 MILES ON IT. NISSAN MOTORS WOULD NOT PAY COST FOR REPAIR.($740.00). I KNOW NISSAN IS BIG CORP. BUT EITHER THEY OR DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. MY FIANCE PUT MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA ON A LIFT AS A ROUTINE INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. AS WELL AS MY OIL PAN, FLEX CONNECTOR BETWEEN CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND MUFFLER. MY CAR IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WE STOPPED AT A REST AREA. WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE THE REST AREA THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER A FEW TRIES IT FINALLY STARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS STARTING THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT. HE CALLED AND SAID IT WAS A SENSOR. AFTER LOOKING UP THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE HE TOLD ME MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM AND TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY CAR DID NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT. MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD HIM THE SAME THING AND THAT ONLY SOME OF THE 2006 ALTIMA'S WERE IN THE RECALL AND MINE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON, IT IS STILL HARD TO START AND I HAVE HAD IT STALL OUT ON ME ONCE WHEN I WAS SLOWING DOWN IN TRAFFIC. ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT I AM HAVING WERE LISTED IN THE RECALL BUT THE DEALERSHIP STILL INSISTS IT IS NOT ON A RECALL LIST. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 25 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE CUTOFF WITH NO WARNING. WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, RESTART, AND DROVE TO DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSIS ERROR CODE P0335 CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILURES AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $570 (PLUS THE $110 DIAGNOSIS FEE). A RECALL EXISTS FOR SAME MAKE AND MODEL, BUT CAR VIN IS EXCLUDED. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON AND WIDESPREAD AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH. THE DEALERSHIP'S PARTS MANAGER ALSO STATED THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I FIND IT VERY DISTURBING THAT NISSAN WOULD KNOWINGLY RISK PASSENGER SAFETY BY NOT RECALLING AND COVERING THE COST OF REPAIR FOR A WELL MAINTAINED CAR THAT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS OTHERS IN THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL YEAR. *TR

THEY STATED MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH I WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR, I WAS TOLD MY VIN# WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, THEREFORE I HAD TO PAY THE COST OF REPAIRS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR TOTAL OUT OF POCKET FOR ME WAS $375.00.I STILL HAVE MY RECEIPT. THE PASSENGER SIDE IS BAD ENOUGH THAT THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION WITHOUT HAVING BOTH SIDES REPAIRED BY A BODY SHOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO A BODY SHOP TODAY AND THEY WERE SHOCKED AT THE EXCELLENT CONDITION OF THE CAR VS THE ROTTEN FLOOR BOARDS. I'VE BEEN DOING PLENTY OF INTERNET SEARCHES TODAY AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
MY NISSAN ALTIMA'S DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PANELS ARE RUSTED. THE RUST IS STARTING FROM THE INSIDE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE LEADING TO HOLES IN THE FLOOR PANELS. I WENT TO NISSAN DEALERSIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE VERY WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH ALTIMA. IT IS DUE TO A DESIGN ERROR IN THE FLOOR PANEL WHICH HAS BUILD IT HOLES FROM FACTORY WHICH LETS THE MOISTURE AND WATER INSIDE THE FLOOR PANELS LEADING TO RUSTING.

AFTER LEAVING HOUSE CAR ACCELERATION WAS VERY HESITATE, TOOK IT TO ADVANCED AUTO TO GET THE CODES READ ON THE CAR AND IT CAME BACK P0345 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION AND P0430 CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE AND CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. SO I CALLED NISSAN BECAUSE I WENT ONLINE READING ABOUT RECALLS ON THE 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA ENGINES BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT MINES WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. CHANGED BOTH CAMSHAFT SENSORS AND CYLINDER 3 COIL. AND CAR STILL ACTING LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO START AND STALL. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND THE WAY IT LOOKS I MIGHT HAVE A HEAD GASKET BLOWN. UPON A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE MY MECHANIC NOTICED THE HUGE AMOUNT OF RUST UNDER MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOORBOARDS. THE CARPET INSIDE CAN BE SEEN. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM WHERE NISSAN IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A LOW MILEAGE WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE. IM SHOCKED AT THE AMOUNT OF RUST IN THESE AREAS. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR WOULD NOT CAUSE THIS. NISSAN SHOULD BE RECALLING THESE CARS. *TR
