DISCOVERED RUST UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE, SHEET METAL IS RUSTED OUT. WILL NEED REPLACED. UNACCEPTABLE FOR A GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD! *TR
FLOOR BOARDS RUSTED THROUGH UNDER DRIVER AND FROM PASSENGER SEATS (FOOT REST AREA) BECAUSE OF POOR METAL COATING AND POOR DRAINAGE DESIGN. REST OF THE CAR IS PERFECTLY FINE. CAR HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE AND NO ACCIDENTS. HAVING HOLE BY THE FLOOR REST AREA IS A SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN RUST STARTED CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT DEALER REFUSED TO CHECK, NOW FLOOR PANELS MUST BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. READING OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINS ALL OVER THE WEB AND PERSONALLY KNOWING 3 OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS WITH EXACT SAME ISSUE, I AM VERY SURPRISED THAT NO ACTION TAKE SO FAR. *TR
THE FLOOR PAN ON MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SL IS RUSTING AND CORRODED UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SEAT AND COULD PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A CAR 6+ YEARS OLD WOULD BE RUSTING THAT BAD ESPECIALLY GIVEN THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN KEPT IN MY GARAGE AND WELL MAINTAINED. I HAVE SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS 2002-2006 NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT AND NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND REPAIR THESE VEHICLES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE OIL WAS CONSUMING PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 06V223000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
VEHICLE STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH. AT LOW SPEEDS CAR WILL SHUT OFF. IT STARTS BACK UP BUT HAS TO BE IN NEUTRAL WHEN IDLE. NISSAN DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR OVER A MONTH AND TOLD ME TO REPLACE MY ECM AND HAVE IT REPROGRAMMED. THIS STILL HAS NOT FIXED MY PROBLEM AND I'M WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHEN IT RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF. NISSAN USA HAS A CLAIM ON MY ISSUE AND WILL NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS WERE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WITHIN A YEAR AND A HALF THAT MY CLUTCH SYSTEM HAS WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING I COULD NOT GET THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO ENGAGE THE CLUTCH. IT WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY MORE DIFFICULT TO GET THE CLUTCH TO SHIFT INTO GEAR EVEN WITH THE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS THE VERY SAME SITUATION THAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME THE CLUTCH SYSTEM WENT OUT AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY SAID THEY KNEW THAT THERE WAS AN KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN ALTIMA SER 2006 AND ITS CLUTCH SYSTEM. THE STANDARD DOT 3 FLUID THAT IS USED WAS BECOMING TO HOT AND BREAKING DOWN ITS COMPRESSIBILITY NOT ALLOWING THE CLUTCH TO SHIFT. THIS TIME AROUND WHEN THE MECHANIC CALLED NISSAN YET AGAIN, NISSAN SAID THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH SYSTEMS USED IN THE ALTIMA SER 2006 AND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACING A LOT AND SEEING THAT THEY ARE ONLY GETTING BETWEEN 35,000 - 40,000 MILES WHEN THE LIFE SPAN OF THE CLUTCHES SHOULD BE LONGER!!! THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX AND IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY ANNOYING. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CAR FOR ANYONE TO HAVE AND LUCKILY NEITHER INCIDENTS CAUSED ANY ACCIDENTS. NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF CAR BUT YET NOTHING IS BEING RECALLED ON THESE CLUTCH SYSTEMS!!!! *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND MY MECHANIC NOTICED THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS ROTTED. THE ROTTING IS APPROXIMATELY 12' X 6' THE FRONT SEAT WILL EVENTUALLY FALL OUT OF THE CAR IF IT'S NOT REPAIRED SOON AND/OR MOLD WILL START DEVELOPING SOON POSING A SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUE. UPON RESEARCH OF THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT ON ALTIMA'S FROM 2002-2006. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE HOLES CAUSED BY EXTREME CORROSION THROUGHOUT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FLOORBOARD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V223000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000. *TR
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND UPON HAVING THE CODE READ WHICH STATED THERE WAS AN ERROR WITH THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. UPON DRIVING THE CAR THAT DAY, I WENT TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A YIELD SIGN AND THE CAR SHUT OFF AND ALL THE START UP LIGHTS APPEARED. I COASTED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT IN THE SHOP, AND MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE SENSOR WHICH CORRECTED THE ERROR. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM ON MANY OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES, BUT MINE WAS ONE OF THE FEW NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALLS FOR THIS SAME SENSOR MALFUNCTION, WHICH I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. *TR
THE FLOOR PANS OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONTS HAVE BEEN RUSTING ON MY NISSAN ALTIMA FOR YEARS. I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT BUT IT WOULD BE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO EASILY. ALSO THE EXTERIOR PAINT ON MY CAR HAS PREMATURELY DEGRADED TO THE POINT WHERE I ALMOST HAVE NO CLEAR COAT LEFT ON MY CAR. THE MAIN ISSUE IS THE RUST. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR RUST IN A FLAT PART UNDER NEATH A CAR WHERE WATER SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SIT. I WILL BE ATTACHING PICTURES THAT SHOW THE EXTENT OF THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO COME ACROSS NUMEROUS CHAT PAGES THAT HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEIR CARS AS WELL. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT CAN NOT POSSIBLY BE MEETING THE MINIMUM SAFETY STANDARDS. I DO LIVE IN A COLD WEATHER STATE NOW BUT THE RUSTING HAPPENED WHILE I WAS STILL LIVING IN SOUTH CAROLINA. THE FIXES FOR THIS ISSUE ARE EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD NOT BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER TO FIX WHEN IT IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR 2002-2006 ALTIMA SERIES. NOT ONLY DO THESE RUST SPOTS ALLOW FOR DEBRIS TO POSSIBLE COME INTO THE CABIN FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE BUT ALSO ALLOW FOR EXHAUST TO FILL THE CABIN. KOBE STEEL IS A KNOW SUPPLIER FOR NISSAN AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THEY SUPPLIED THE FLOOR PANELS FOR THESE YEAR OF ALTIMA'S SINCE THEY HAVE ADMITTED TO USING MATERIAL THAT IS NOT UP TO STANDARDS. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE FLOORBOARDS FIXED WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY OR SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS SITUATION RIGHT. MY CAR CURRENTLY WITH THE RUST AND PAINT ISSUES IS UN-SELLABLE AND HAS LOST 100% OF ITS VALUE. THANK YOU FOR REVIEWING THIS COMPLAINT. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 7 YEARS AGO.EVER SINCE I OWN IT, I HAVE BOUGHT 5 SUNVISORS; (3 PASSENGERS) (2 DRIVER)... ITS INSANE HOW JUST BY TURNING THE VISOR TO ONE SIDE IT BREAKS FROM THE TOP PORTION OF THE ROOF..THE DEALER DOES NOT REPLACE JUST THE PART WHERE IT BREAKS (WHERE THE BOLTS FASTEN) (IS LIKE A TRIANGLE PLASTIC PART WHERE IT BREAKS VERY EASY).. THE DEALER ONLY GIVES YOU 30 DAYS WARRANTY, THE THING IS THE VISORS BREAK BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRE OR RIGHT AFTER...AND HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE AT FULL PRICE THE PRICE FOR A SUNVISOR IS CRAZY, $208.58 @UNITED NISSAN IN LAS VEGAS, NV. I ASKED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WHY SO EXPENSIVE HE SAID "WE GET DIFFERENT PRICES EVERY MONTH"..I SAID LAST TIME I PAID $115 NOW IS $208.58?!!! THIS PAST JANUARY, WE WENT OUT TO OUR VEHICLE IN THE MORNING & IT WOULD NOT START. HAD IT DIAGNOSED, CAME BACK AS THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. WE HAD IT REPLACED. NOW IN NOVEMBER WE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH IT AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING A STEADY SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY IT WILL WHAT FEELS LIKE JUMP/SLAM INTO GEAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON, HAD IT DIAGNOSED COMES BACK AS CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. DID RESEARCH ONLINE, COME TO FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ISSUED FOR 2002, 2005-2006 NISSAN ALTIMA CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. CONTACTED NISSAN AND WERE TOLD BY ASSOCIATE THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT EFFECTED BY THAT RECALL CAMPAIGN. I ASKED HER "IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR TWICE WITHIN LESS THAN A YEAR ", SHE DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER AND ASKED "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM NISSAN". MY RESPONSE WAS THAT," I JUST FEEL LIKE THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN A YEAR, AND AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL, BUT NOT ON MY CAR, APPARENTLY JUST A FLUKE I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE", AND SHE SAID "MY ONLY SUGGESTION IS TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR PROPER DIAGNOSE & REPAIR IN WHICH YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR." MORNING 6 AM WHILE DRIVING TO AIRPORT ALL OF SUDDEN SOME THING CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. IMAGINE THAT HAPPENING AT 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY! THAT FREAKED ME OUT! , AFTER DIAGNOSED THEY SAID THE PROBLEM ACTUALLY LIES IN A FAULTY SENSOR. I'M SURPRISED MORE PEOPLE HAVEN'T FILED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AS IT SEEMS MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS IT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. *TR

'SERVICE ENGINE SOON' LITE CAME ON. DEALER SCANNED FOR TROUBLE CODES P0725,P0335. WAS TOLD THE "CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR" NEEDS REPLACING, AND WAS CHARGED $130. THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME $425 TO REPLACE 'CPS'. WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS SITUATION. FOUND OUT LATER THRU THE INTERNET THAT THERE WERE 600 INCIDENTS CONCERNING 'CPS'. THE DEALER SHOULD FIX THIS WITH NO CHARGE. NHTSA #07V527000 RECALL EXPLAINS THE PROBLEM. ALSO SEE RECALL ID #67654 FROM NISSAN. *TR
I HAD A RECALL ON MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5L & I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN 2010 BECAUSE THE CAR ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHEN DRIVEN. IT OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES & SEVERAL TIMES IT OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY GOING AT 60 MILES PER HOURS. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER & THE CHANGED THE PART BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. AFTER BATTLING FOR MONTH TO GET MY MONEY BACK FORM THE DEALER THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING AGAIN. IN 2012. I TRIED TO TRADE IT IN BUT THEY UNDER VALUED MY CAR BECAUSE OF THE RECALL HISTORY AT $2,500. I NEED HELP & NISSAN IS REFUSING TO PAY FULL TRADE VALUE ON A RECALL. ALL I WANT IS THE PROBLEM FIX PERMANENTLY INSTEAD OF HAVING THIS ONGOING PROBLEMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62000.
MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING RUST UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR BOARD. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR NISSAN ALTIMAS, HOWEVER NISSAN REFUSES TO COVER THE CAR SINCE IT IS OUTSIDE THE 5-YEAR WARRANTY. MY CAR EVEN HAS THE UNDERCOAT PROTECTION, BUT HAS A HOLE IN THE FLOOR BOARD ROUGHLY THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL. THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A CAR THAT IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. MANY, MANY NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS ARE FINDING RUST HOLES UNDER THEIR FLOOR BOARDS. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
TOOK FOR INSPECTION. SERVICE DEALER SAID DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD RUSTED INTO INTERIOR. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP FOLLOWING ALL SAFETY MAINTENANCE CHECKUPS, EVEN LAST MONTH. NO ONE MENTIONED ANY FORM OF RUST AT THE TIME. DEALER SAID THERE HAVE BEEN QUITE A FEW SIMILAR PROBLEMS FROM 2002-2006, BUT THEY DID NOT THINK IT WAS IMPORTANT TO CHECK THIS OUT ON LAST SAFETY MAINTENANCE VISIT. I'M UPSET NISSAN IS NOT COVERING THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT AND ONLY AFTER 5 YEARS PLUS CAR HAD UNDERCOATING APPLIED FROM FACTORY. NEXT CAR ??????? *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE I95 THE CAR SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART AT 55MPH. THANK GOD, I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE GUARDRAIL. I HAVE BEEN LOSING OIL FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW AND I JUST KEPT PUTTING IT IN ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. NOBODY COULD FIND OUT WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. I KEPT ASKING AT OIL CHANGES. I JUST RECENTLY HAD IT IN TO REPLACE THE VALVE COVER GASKET AND TUNE UP ($1200.00) BECAUSE VALVE COVER WAS LEAKING OIL INTO THE SPARK PLUGS AND ALL OVER.. WELL, THEY FIXED IT AND I NOTICED IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS OUT OF OIL AGAIN. SO I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK AND ASKED IF THEY HAD PUT OIL IN IT AND WHY IT WAS SOUNDING THE WAY IT IS. I THOUGHT IT WAS USING OIL BECAUSE IT WAS IN NEED OF A TUNE UP. THEY TOOK IT BACK IN AND IT WAS ALREADY DOWN A QUART. HE LIFTED IT AND FOUND THE OIL COOL HAD A HOLE IN IT. HE SAID IT WAS NOT THE GASKET AND IT WAS THE OIL COOLER. THESE CARS ARE APPARENTLY KNOWN FOR THAT AND HE DOESN'T KNOW WHY IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE IT WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE IF YOU RUN OUT AND DON'T KNOW IT. MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE LURCHED FORWARD, AS IF IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. I MADE IT HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. I THOUGHT I HAD PURCHASED BAD GAS. THE NEXT MORNING MY CAR WOULD NOT START, IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT TO FINAL START. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I RAN A SCAN AND THE SCAN SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH I DID AND IT DID NO GOOD. THE ENGINE IS VERY HARD TO START AND IS CONSUMING A LOT OF GAS. MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SL APPEARS TO BE PART OF A RECALL (NTB06-028) FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE CAR BEGAN EXHIBITING THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL CONCERNING EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING AT 120K MILES IN LATE JUNE 2012.
