RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN PARKING IN THE SUN AT WORK AND I'VE NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD HAS BEEN DAMAGING BY THE HEAT OF THE SUN. IT'S TO THE POINT WHERE ITEMS STICK TO THE DASHBOARD. I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DEACTIVATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE HAS MELTING STICKY DASHBOARD THAT IS SHINY AND REFLECTS THE SUN AND DISTORTS VISION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND DESERVES A SAFETY BULLETIN ISSUES TO REPAIR. CAR OPERATES IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. I TRIED TO SELL IT AND WAS TOLD $2000 WOULD BE DEDUCTED FROM THE OFFER DUE TO COST OF REPAIR OF DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD.
DASHBOARD HAS MELTED TO THE POINT OF BEING BARE IN SOME PLACES. OVER 40% OF THE DASH IS COVERED WITH A GLOSSY SUBSTANCE MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD WHEN THE SUN IS OVERHEAD. NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE ALMOST RAN OVER A PEDESTRIAN DUE TO THIS LOW VISIBILITY ISSUE. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING ON TOP NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL AND ALSO NEAR WHERE THE DEFROST VENTS ARE. *TR
REGARDING 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA: THE AIR CONDITIONING EVAPORATOR DRAIN HOSE IS POORLY ENGINEERED LEADING TO WATER DRAINING BACK INTO THE VEHICLE AS OPPOSED TO OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE WATER WILL POOL IN THE BACK SEAT PASSENGER SIDE AND CONTINUE TO COLLECT WATER UNTIL IT MOVES FORWARD TOWARD THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SIDE. WITHOUT CORRECTING THIS DEFECT THE WATER WILL LEAD TO MOLD/FUNGUS GROWTH, ROTTED CARPET, RUSTED FLOOR WELLS, AND POTENTIALLY ELECTRICAL DAMAGE AS THERE IS A MAIN ELECTRICAL WIRE THAT RUNS ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR THAT PARALLELS THE EVAPORATOR DRAIN HOSE. *TR
MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND MELTING. I CALLED NISSAN AND MAKE MY FIRST COMPLAINT 2 MONTHS TOO LATE WAS TOLD. SINCE THEN THE MELTING AND STICKINESS ON THE COMPLETE TOP OF THE DASH BOARD IS GETTING WORSE. INSIDE THE CAR NOW IT?S ALSO SMELLING LIKE MELTED TAR, WHICH MAY REPRESENT A HEALTH ISSUE WHEN BREATHING IT, AND WITH IT THE INTENSE GLARE, REFLECTION OF THE GLOSSY TAR ON THE FRONT WINDOW IT'S A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS ALSO COULD RESULT IN AIRBAGS BEING SUPPRESSED WHICH COULD FAIL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN REFUSES TO HELP REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE DASH BOARD. LAST WEEK I CALLED NISSAN AGAIN. THIS TIME BECAUSE THE A/C?S EVAPORATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.I UNDERSTAND THE COST OF THIS WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY, BUT BECAUSE THIS IS UNDER THE DEFECTIVE DASH BOARD, THIS ONE WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR. ONCE REMOVED, THE MELTED DASH BOARD, NO GUARANTEE COULD BE INSTALLED AGAIN, I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE REP AT NISSAN. A NISSAN SUPERVISOR TOLD ME THE SAME AS OTHERS AND SUGGESTED FOR ME TO CALL NHTSA AND FILE A COMPLAINT, SO THEY WOULD WORK ON A RECALL FOR THIS. MY A/C NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I'M IN FL WHERE WEATHER CONDITIONS AND RAINY SEASON IT'S NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN. I'M AWARE THAT A/C REPAIR IS MY RESPONSIBILITY BUT I BELIEVE IT'S UNFAIR TO HAVE TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL 2,000 BECAUSE OF NISSAN'S DEFECTIVE MATERIAL USED ON DASHBOARDS. THIS IS A KNOWN CONCERN SINCE OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. IF NISSAN DOESN'T DO RIGHT BY ITS CONSUMERS AND OR A RECALL IS ISSUE, THERE WOULD BE MANY CONSUMERS IN THE FUTURE WITH RISKS OF ACCIDENTS AND/OR POSSIBLE RESPIRATORY HEALTH ISSUES. MY 2008 ALTIMA ALSO HAS A MELTING DASH. I'VE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN DIRECTLY AND THEY BOTH TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP ME BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. ARE THEY NOT CONCERNED AT ALL THAT THE GLARE FROM THE SHINE IS BLINDING AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT? IT'S A POOR QUALITY ISSUE THEY SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
IN FEBRUARY 2014 I HAD A NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN MY VEHICLE TO REPLACE ONE THAT WAS PART OF A RECALL BY NISSAN. ON JUNE 13, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 6PM WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 95 IN DELAWARE, MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT SAFELY OFF THE ROAD DESPITE BEING IN THE FAST LANE DURING HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER THAT REPLACED THE RECALLED TRANSMISSION. ON THE MORNING OF JUNE 16, 2014 THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT THE NISSAN DEALER ADVISED ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE ONE I RECEIVED WAS A 'BAD APPLE". LATER THAT SAME DAY, HE CALLED BACK TO ADVISE ME THE ISSUE WAS NOT THE TRANSMISSION BUT IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WAS NOT INSTALLED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN FEBRUARY. THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN UPDATED; HOWEVER WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES A SPEED OF 60-80MPH THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND ACTS JUST AS IT DID WHEN IT SHUT DOWN ON JUNE 13, 2014. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON. THE VEHICLE STARTED AFTER THIRTY MINUTES. THE FAILURE WOULD ALWAYS OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR A LENGTHY PERIOD OF TIME. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, A RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE. THERE WAS DECREASED ON ENGINE RPMS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE EXHAUST HEAT SHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM WHO STATED THAT THEY HAD TRIGGER AN UNKNOWN VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THE ISSUE SPECIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE MATERIAL ON THE DASH IS MELTING, AND THERE ARE CHUNKS BREAKING OFF, GREATLY AFFECTING THE VALUE OF MY VEHICLE. THIS ALSO CAUSES A REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS A GLARE IN THE DIRECT LINE OF MY VISION AND WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. I HAVE HEARD OTHER MAKES OF THIS SAME YEAR HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, AND HAD MANUFACTURE RECALL. HOPEFULLY NISSAN WILL FOLLOW SUIT. SOON.
MY 2008 NISSAN ULTIMA DASH BOARD IS MELTING. THE VISIBILITY IS DIMINISHED IN THE SUNLIGHT WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS DANGEROUS. IT CAUSES A HARSH GLARE AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEEWHILE DRIVING IN THE DAY TIME. THE DASH BOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SHINEY. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR DRIVERS SAFETY IMMEDIATELY.

IN ADDITION, THE SUN PRODUCED A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH AFFECTED THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (HERITAGE NISSAN 1500 VETERANS MEMORIAL HWY NE, ROME GA 30161) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
DASHBOARD HAS MELTED AND THE GLARE FROM THE SUN REFLECTING OFF OF THE MELTED DASHBOARD MAKES DRIVING A HAZARD. *TR
MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. IT STARTED WITH A SMALL SPOT ON THE DASH, I THOUGHT IT WAS MOISTURE FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER. A FEW DAYS LATER THE SPOT WAS GETTING LARGER. I FELT IT AND IT FELT LIKE STICKY CLEAR GLUE. NOW IT'S GETTING LARGER ALMOST ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE DASH. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THE GUY SAID HE HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. HE TOLD ME THE ONLY THING HE CAN DO IS ORDER ANOTHER ONE FOR ME AND THAT'S OVER $2,000.00. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER DASHBOARD, WHEN IT'S A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PRODUCT.. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INDICATED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DASHBOARD DEGRADATION. THE DASHBOARD APPEARS TO BE 'MELTING' CAUSING A DANGEROUS GLARE. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. *TR
MELTING DASH, GLARE ON WINDOW HARD TO SEE THINGS IN FRONT OF CAR. ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING INTO SUN. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2008 ALTIMA HAS BEEN MELTING FOR THE PAST YEAR AND IS CAUSING A LARGE AREA OF GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I BROUGHT IT UP TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST YEAR, THEY TOLD ME I HAD USED A CHEMICAL ON THE DASHBOARD, THAT IT NEEDED TO BE CLEANED OFF, AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO TO FIX IT. THEY DID NOT ADDRESS THE STICKINESS, EITHER. THIS ISSUE OF A MELTING DASH IS DANGEROUS, AS IT CAUSES DECREASED VISIBILITY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD WITH ANY AMOUNT OF SUNLIGHT. PLEASE MAKE NISSAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR USING LOWER QUALITY MATERIALS BY REPLACING THE DASHBOARDS WITH A BETTER QUALITY MATERIAL AT NO COST TO THE CAR OWNER.
5/31/2014, AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN 75 NORTH TOWARDS CHATTANOOGA GOING 80 MILES PER HOUR TO MAINTAIN SPEED OF TRAFFIC I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PUT MY EMERGENCY SIGNAL ON IN ORDER TO MERGE OVER TO THE FAR RIGHT EMERGENCY LANE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS NOT TOO HEAVY IN ORDER TO MOVE OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE IF SO IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. I ALLOWED THE CAR TO SIT FOR A BIT AND THEN DROVE BACK TO HOME TO SEE IF I COULD TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHERE I PURCHASED A VEHICLE AND TO FIND OUT THE ISSUE. AS I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE BACK HOME I HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NO MORE THAN 40 MILES PER HOUR IN A 70 MILES PER HOUR ZONE WITH MY HAZARDS SIGNALS FLASHING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO NO FASTER THAN 40 MILES PER HOUR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN ON MONDAY BECAUSE THEY CLOSE SERVICE AT 12 O'CLOCK ON A FRIDAY. THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE WANT ME TO PAY A FEE IN ORDER FOR ME TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THAN A YEAR, ONLY 8 MONTHS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND SERIOUS SITUATION WHERE NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THE 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA AND HAVE THIS ISSUE CHECKED OUT BECAUSE I'M SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
HELP (CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION) NISSAN APPARENTLY HAS A "EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CVT ON CERTAIN VEHICLE MODELS INCLUDING ALTIMA BETWEEN 2003-2010 YEAR. THE WARRANTY STATES THAT YOU MAY REPLACE PART TO 10YEARS/120,000 MILES WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. HERE'S THE PROBLEM NEVER GOT A LETTER WITH THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY INFORMATION SO I COULD OF HAD MY CVT REPLACED. TWO DAYS AGO AS I WAS DRIVING ON ONE OF FL. BUSIEST HWY WHERE SPEEDS ARE UP TO 70 MPH MY 08 NISSAN ALTIMA STARTS DECELERATE YES WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE WITH OUT KNOW NOTICE THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS NOT ON SO I WAS IN A STATE OF SHOCK BECAUSE I AM IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A THREE LANE HWY FREAKED OUT CARS COMING BEHIND ME AT HIGH SPEEDS I DID BUT MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON SO I COULD TRY TO FIND AWAY TO MANEUVER MY WAY OFF THE HWY WAIT IT GETS BETTER SO AS I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AT A SPEED OF 1 MPH THE CAR IS IN STALL MODE AKA PRESSING ON GAS AND JUST BARELY GOING. WELL AS I WAS GETTING IN THE OUTER LANE TO GET OFF THE HWY THE CAR WHEN FROM ONE MPH AND JUST ACCELERATED I ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR MVA I ENDED UP IN THE DITCH LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF. I ENDED UP TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT IT COULD BE THE FUEL INJECTOR BUT COULDN'T BE FOR SURE BECAUSE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON THEY COULDN'T DETECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE MACHINE, THE CAR SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON SOON AFTER REACHING OVER 120,000 MILES.I WANTED NISSAN TO HAVE RECALL THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IT IS NOT RIGHT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE IT BECOMES WORSE LIKE IT FOR FORD, GM ECT....THEY SHOULD HAVE SENT PEOPLE LETTERS OR EVER PUT A COURTESY CONSUMER REPORT THRU NEWS AS TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THEY DIDN'T DO IT WHY?(MONEY)PLEAS THIS IS DANGEROUS I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH WHEN AN ANIMAL JUMPED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A DITCH AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,800. UPDATED 9/4/14*CN UPDATED 09/15/2014 *JS
THE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTING AND GETTING GOOEY AND STICKY FOR MONTHS. THIS CAUSES A DISTRACTING SPARKLING REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD DURING CERTAIN DAYS WHEN IT IS VERY SUNNY AND THE SUN SHINES DIRECTLY AT WINDSHIELD. THE DEFECT WAS REPORTED TO NISSAN (DEALERSHIP IN FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, AND THE CORPORATE OFFICE) BUT THE COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO PAY FOR REPAIRING IT BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, DESPITE NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BY OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME MODEL AND THE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR POSSIBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 610 IN HOUSTON, TEXAS WHEN THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND CAUGHT FIRE. I HAD GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES INITIALLY FOR A START UP KEY ISSUE, THEN TIRES, HUB CAP, AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF ON THE HWY JANUARY 25TH 2014, THE WARRANTY COMPANY NOTED THAT THERE WERE UNDERLYING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS FIRST SOLD, MADE A PROPOSAL TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND DEALERSHIP EVENTUALLY PLACED AN ENGINE I WAS TOLD LATER BY A YOUNGER GENTLEMAN NAMED [XXX] THAT IS WAS A SUED ENGINE. I HAD TAKEN IT HOME, AND NEXT DAY HAD ISSUES AGAIN. TOOK IT IN TO GET SPARK PLUGS CHANGED, BUT THE END RESULT WAS FIRE ON THE HWY WAY MAY 12, 2014. I PURCHASED A FACTORY CERTIFIED 2008 ALTIMA COUPE WITH SLIGHTLY OVER 30,000 MILES IN OCTOBER 2012 AND AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT STARTING COMING ON WITH NO PASSENGER, THEN WENT TO THE RED AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE AIR BAG CONTROLLER WAS REPLACED AT 42,000 MILES AND FAILED AGAIN AT 50,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN COVERED BY THE WARRANTY BOTH TIMES BUT CONCERNS ME THAT I HAVE DRIVEN MANY OF THE MILES ON THIS CAR WITHOUT AIR BAGS WORKING. *TR
WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY USING CRUISE CONTROL AND THEN I TRIED TO GET OUT OF CRUISE AND STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT IT GOT STUCK, I REALIZED I WASN'T ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE FIRST LANE DUE TO TRAFFIC, SO I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN TO PULL OVER TO THE MEDIAN CLOSEST TO THE THIRD LANE, HOWEVER, THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING AND I WASN'T ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, I EVEN TRIED TO PRESS THE BUTTON TO SHUT THE CAR OFF BUT IT WOULDN'T SHUT DOWN, THERE WAS NO SMELL OF SMOKE OR ANYTHING AND THAN AS THE CAR BEGIN SLOWING ON ITS OWN, ALL OF A SUDDEN SMOKE JUST POOFED UP AND I GRABBED MY PURSE AND PHONE AND JUMPED OUT OF THE MOVING CAR . RAN AWAY FROM THE CAR AND REALIZE THAT I HAD TAKEN MY WALLET OUT OF MY PURSE PREVIOUS AND I TURNED TO GO BACK BUT THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I CALLED 911 TO GET ASSISTANCE. *JS

THE PASSENGER SIDE VEHICLE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT TO THE OFF POSITION AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD BEGAN TO FLASH. THE DEALER STATED THE SEAT CUSHION ON THE PASSENGER SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN THEY STATED THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL IN MY SPECIFIC VIN; THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE IN 2008. THEY STATED THEY WOULD PAY 40% OF THE COST TO REPLACE SEAT CUSHION; WHICH WOULD RUN UPWARDS OF $800.00. I ASKED IF IT AS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT THE AIRBAG IS NOW INOPERABLE AND THEY STATED YES IT WAS. THE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS 08V521000. THE RECALL SPECIFIES THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPECIFICATION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME... *TR

MY CVT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH 126K MILES. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALLS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION AND THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW. I STARTED HEARING THE INFAMOUS "WHINING NOISE" ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 100K MILES. HAD I BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE RECALLS I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE WHINING A LITTLE MORE SERIOUS AND RESEARCHED IT. WELL, TOO LATE BUT AFTER THE FACT I FOUND MANY YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. IF YOU HEAR THIS WHINING NOISE, IT'S YOUR TRANSMISSION. NISSAN KNOWS THEY PUT OUT A GARBAGE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS WHY THEY DOUBLED THE WARRANTY ON IT TO 10 YEARS OR 120K MILES. CONVENIENTLY, MINE DID NOT GO OUT UNTIL 126K. I BOUGHT THIS CAR THREE YEARS AGO WITH 17K MILES. YES, I DRIVE A LOT BUT IT'S FOR WORK AND IT'S PRIMARILY HIGHWAY MILEAGE. I WOULDN'T HAVE EVER EXPECTED THE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT IN A CAR THIS NEW. I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PIECE OF JAP CRAP FROM NISSAN AS I AM NOW DUMPING 4K TO GET THIS REPAIRED. I CHECKED WITH NISSANUSA AND THEY DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY NOR DID THEY OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BECAUSE I AM 6K OVER THEIR EXTENDED (DOUBLED) WARRANTY. WHEN MY CAR BROKE DOWN I CALLED MY MECHANIC, WHO IS ASE CERTIFIED, AND SUPER TRUSTWORTHY. HE CAME AND TOWED IT, RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I CALLED NISSANUSA AND WAS ADVISED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE UNTIL AN AUTHORIZED DEALER DIAGNOSED IT. I DID JUST THAT, PAID THE DEALER $150 TO TELL ME WHAT I ALREADY KNEW (BAD TRANSMISSION), ONLY TO HAVE NISSANUSA DENY ME ASSISTANCE AFTER THE DEALER CONFIRMED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. THEN I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO MY MECHANIC AS THE DEALER'S QUOTE WAS OUTRAGEOUS. I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN AND I HOPE YOU WON'T EITHER! *TT

THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING AND LEFT A WET, STICKY RESIDUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
