TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STRUT INSULATOR WAS CRACKED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSTABLE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
MY 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA IS CURRENTLY HAVING ISSUES WITH THE DEFECTS IN THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL). THE CAR JUST CUT OFF ON ME AS I WAS PARKING IN A PARKING SPOT. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE GEAR IN PARK. IT DISABLED THE PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION ON MY CAR AND LOCKED MY STEERING COLUMN. SO, I WAS STRANDED! THIS IS BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR COULD'VE JUST CONTINUED TO ROLL IF I COULDN'T GET IT INTO THE PARKED GEAR! IT'S UNFAIR THAT AS A CONSUMER OF NISSAN, I HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE AFTER THE NISSAN WARRANTY ON THE ESCL EXPIRED IN MARCH 2015 AND BE POSED WITH PAYING OVER $1000 IN REPAIR COSTS. PER NISSAN, THERE WAS NO SPECIFIC MILEAGE NUMBER THAT THIS DEFECT COULD OCCUR; SO THEY SHOULD RECALL THE ESCL SYSTEMS IN ALL AFFECTED CARS INSTEAD OF COVERING THEIR OWN BEHINDS AND GIVING A WARRANTY WITH UNLIMITED MILES AND AN END DATE OF MARCH 2015. CLEARLY NISSAN IS NOT CONCERNED WITH ITS CONSUMERS SAFETY. IT'S NOT FAIR TO CONSUMERS THAT BOUGHT NISSAN VEHICLES THAT EXPERIENCE THE DANGEROUS DEFECT AFTER MARCH 2015. I AM A VERY UNHAPPY CONSUMER AT THIS TIME.
ON MY WAY HOME MY INTELLIGENT KEY LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS THINKING THAT I HAD TO CHANGE THE BATTERY IN MY REMOTE.. ONCE I DID THAT, NOTHING CHANGED. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY CAR. THE NEXT DAY I DROVE TO WORK. WHEN I GOT OFF MY CAR WOULDN'T START AND THE KEY LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN!! I LOOKED IT UP AND IT'S THE ESCL GOING BAD!
THE BRAKE SWITCH ON THE ALTIMA HAS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES SINCE NEW. THE FIRST PART WAS REPLACED IN JUNE OF 2015 DUE TO THE CAR NOT STARTING, AND THE VEHICLE NOT RECOGNIZING THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED (REQUIREMENT FOR KEY LESS START). UPON DEALER INSPECTION, I WAS CHARGED A VERY HEFTY FEE FOR A SMALL PART AND LABOR. PART: 25320-AX00C SHOWED TO BE AT FAULT. AT SECOND TIME, AUGUST 2016, THE SAME PROBLEMS PERSISTED. THIS TIME, THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL. I FOUND THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED, OPENED IT UP, AND FOUND THE INSIDE CONNECTORS FROZEN TO THE CONTACTS AND WHAT LOOK LIKED A SMALL FLASH OR BURN HAD OCCURRED. THE CONTACTS WERE SEPARATED AND THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE BURNING SMELL REAPPEARED AND THE PART WAS NOTED TO HAVE POSSIBLY STARTED ON FIRE VERY BRIEFLY, OR BEEN SUBJECT TO A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF HEAT. PART HAS BEEN RETAINED. PART WAS REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET PART, AND CAR NOW STARTS WITHOUT ANY SMELLS. DEALERSHIP DENY'S PROBLEM WITH BRAKE SWITCH, DESPITE WIDESPREAD INTERNET CHATTER ABOUT SAME ISSUE HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS OF KEY LESS START NISSAN VEHICLES.
MY INTELLIGENT KEY WARNING SYSTEM IS GOING OUT AND ALSO MY STEERING LOCK SYSTEM HAS GONE OUT AND THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THE PART HAS BEEN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT YET I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THAT ONE NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE PART MYSELF FINANCIALLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. THE KEY FAILURE AND SECURITY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
THE STEERING COLUMN RECALL WAS REPAIRED, BUT WARRANTY WAS OFF. HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STOPPED AND RECALL ON IT WAS OFF. AUTOMOBILE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT SLOWED TO A CRAWL ON THE HIGHWAY
THE STEERING WILL NOT LOCK IN PLACE THEREFORE THE CAR WILL NOT START.
FIRST PROBLEM IS STATIONARY WHILE PARKED. CAR WAS BUMPED BY ANOTHER WHILE PARKED AND STEERING COLUMN LOCKED UP. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITHOUT BEING BUMPED FOR UNKNOWN REASON. HAD TO TOW TO GARAGE TO UNLOCK. HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. EXPENSIVE TO FIX . SECOND PROBLEM IS WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAYS. ON HOT DAY, DURING LONGER TRIPS WHERE UPHILL CLIMBING IS PRESENT, THE ENGINE STARTS TO LOSE POWER GOING UP HILL AND MANUAL STATES IT IS A BUILT IN SAFETY FEATURE TO PROTECT ENGINE HOWEVER THIS IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND LET THE CAR COOL DOWN FOR A WHILE BEFORE DRIVING AGAIN. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY 3 TIMES.
DROVE MY CAR LIKE I NORMALLY DO. I PARK. RETURN TO MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE RED KEY WARNING LIGHT WAS FLASHING COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PUSH THE START BUTTON. MY STEERING COLUMN LOCK MALFUNCTIONED. MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT WITH 2009 NISSAN ALTIMAS. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS BUT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT LAST YEAR AND I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEM: THE ALTIMA'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWN SHIFT AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR AN EXTENDED TIME (>1.5 HOURS). THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES DRIVING ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY ON LONG ROAD TRIPS. THE ALTIMA IS IN OVERDRIVE, TRAVELING AT 65 MPH. THEN ONCE I AM DRIVING UP A FAIRLY STEEP HILL THE CAR WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT TO ACCOUNT FOR THE INCLINE. THE CAR SLOWS DOWN FROM 65 MPH TO LOW SPEEDS (E.G. 40 MPH) AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT GO ABOVE 2000 RPM. THE CAR DOES NOT COME OUT OF OVERDRIVE (6TH GEAR). ATTEMPTS AT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN OR MANUALLY SHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR HAS NO EFFECT. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CAR TO SHIFT NORMALLY AGAIN ONCE THIS HAPPENS IS TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT. THIS PROBABLY INDICATES A REBOOT ON THE TRANSMISSION'S COMPUTER IS NEEDED. NISSAN HAS LOOKED AT THE CAR A FEW TIMES AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS IT CAN LEAD TO A REAR END ACCIDENT.
I WAS PARKED AT THE HAIRDRESSERS I CAME OUT MY CAR WOULD NOT START. IT IS THE STEERING MODULE WHICH NISSAN KNOWS IS A FAULTY PART BUT DOESN'T WANT TO DO A RECAL FOR. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRENTY INSTEAD OF DOING A RECALL I AM 7 MONTHS PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO AM PAYING $1000.00 FOR A PART THAT NISSAN KNOWS IS THEIR ISSUE
I WAS OUT HANDLING BUSINESS ALL DAY FRIDAY AND LATER THAT EVENING I HAD TO MAKE MY LAST STOP. I WENT INTO THE STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT MY CARE HAD NO POWER AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T MOVE. THE KEY INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON, BUT I STILL HAD NO IDEA OF HOW I WOULD GET MY CAR STARTED.. I CALLED MY HUSBAND BECAUSE IT WAS LATE AND GETTING DARK OUT (VERY DANGEROUS). I HAD TO GO THE WHOLE WEEKEND AND WEEK WITHOUT A CAR THAT I'VE HAD FOR THE PASS 6 YEARS. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WOULD BE $1000.00, RIDICULOUS! I WAS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL AND TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER REGULARLY AND WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IGNITION KEY FAILED TO TURN TO THE ON POSITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START, AND AN UNKNOWN KEY SYMBOL ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK FAILS AND LOCKS THE STEERING-WHEEL. THE CAR FAILS TO START AGAIN. I AM WORRY THIS WILL LOCK WHILE DRIVING. IS UNRELIABLE. REPAIR COST GOES UP TO THOUSAND DOLLARS.
STEERING LOCK BECOMES STUCK (WILL NOT ALLOW CAR TO BE STARTED). THIS HAPPENS FOR SEEMINGLY NO REASON. MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED AS WELL. ONLY OPTION IS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED AND HAVE THE STEERING LOCK REPLACED. NISSAN ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION OF 3 YEARS WHICH EXPIRED IN JANUARY 2016. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO REASON THAT THIS SHOULD HAPPEN AND NO REASON THAT THE FIX SHOULD NOT BE COVERED INFINITELY. COULD HAVE BEEN STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY OR A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD OR ANYWHERE. ADDITIONALLY, THE FIX IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE (>1,000 --- SEE ATTACHMENT). THIS IS NO WEAR & TEAR ISSUE. THIS IS A FAULTY PART. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT IT. THEY SHOULD HAVE TO MAKE IT RIGHT.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER NOT WORKING CAUSING THE CAR TO DRIVE INEFFECTIVELY, CAR SPEED DECLINES AND SOMETIMES THE CAR RPMS STAY AT 3000 AND WON'T ACCELERATE.
COMMON PROBLEM FROM ALL NISSAN 2009 OWNERS.... STEERING WHEEL LOCK HAS FAILED. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND THE SAFETY POINT IS THAT IT CAN GO OUT AT ANYTIME AND LEAVE MY WIFE STRANDED IN PLACES SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY
I PARKED MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER COMING HOME FROM THE GYM. ABOUT 45 MIN I LEFT OUT TO GO TO WORK. I TRIED TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT COME ON. MY PUSH TO START BUTTON LOCKED LIGHT APPEARED AND A PICTURE OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES WITH ARROWS POINTING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, THEY COULD NOT HELP...I HAD MY CAR TOWED OVER TO PEP BOYS THEY STATED IT WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THAT I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT THEY WENT AND FIXED IT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND STATED THAT I OWED THEM 850 DOLLARS. I WAS VERY UPSET THAT THEY DID NOT UPDATE ME BEFORE FIXING IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICE THAT IT WAS A RECALL ON 2009 NISSAN ALTIMAS STEERING LOCK BUT THEY SUSPENDED IT. I WAS VERY UPSET BECAUSE I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE BY PHONE,MAIL OR EMAIL THAT IT WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR. I REALLY HOPE THEY THEY ISSUE ANOTHER ONE AND SOME HOW I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR AN ISSUES THAT WASN'T MY FAULT.
THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS TURNED OFF REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THEN THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT TO FIX.
ON JULY 11TH I WENT TO THE STORE TO PICK UP SOME ITEMS. WHEN I LEFT THE STORE TO GET IN MY CAR, IT WOULD NOT START. I DRIVE A TWO DOOR NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE 2009. THE STEERING LOCK HAD MALFUNCTIONED LEAVING ME STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT WHILE IT WAS 95 DEGREES OUTSIDE. I HAD A LOCK SMITH COME AND USE HIS COMPUTER ON MY VEHICLE, UNFORTUNATELY MY CAR IS IN HIJACK MODE AND MY ENGINE WILL NOT ALLOW HIS COMPUTER TO TALK TO IT. ONLY NISSAN HAS A COMPUTER THAT CAN BYPASS THIS AND REPLACE MY STEERING LOCK. WITH THAT, NISSAN KNOWS THE 2009 MODEL HAS A DEFECTIVE STEERING LOCK BUT HAS YET TO RECALL IT. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. NISSAN ALSO WENT AS FAR AS REPLACING THE PART BUT WITH A DIFFERENT PART # AS THEY KNOW THE PART # IN THE 2009'S ARE DEFECTIVE. THE PART # THEY ARE NOW REPLACING IT WITH IS THE PART THEY PUT IN THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA'S. NISSAN SAYS IT'S GOING TO COST ME OVER $1200 TO GET THIS FIXED IN MY CAR. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS DEFECTIVE IN MY VEHICLE AND IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY ITSELF. I AM NOW CARLESS AS I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I AM APPALLED THAT NISSAN WOULD KNOWINGLY NOT RECALL THE PART IN THE 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA'S. IT POSES A RISK TO PEOPLE'S SAFETY AS IT CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE!
TAKATA RECALL I AM EMAILING WITH HOPES THAT NISSAN WILL ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA'S STEERING LOCK FAILURE. THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART WAS EXTENDED, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY CAN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT A PART IS DEFECTIVE AND NOT ISSUE A RECALL. I HAD TO DISCOVER THIS ISSUE AT THE END OF MY WORK DAY IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER. IT IS NOT FAIR TO EXPECT CAR OWNERS TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET WHEN NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE PART.
ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK SENSOR FAIL UNABLE TO START CAR OR LOCK OR START. FORTUNATELY HAD JUST PARK VEHICLE.. ON CITY STREET
MY 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA SLOWS DOWN FROM 75 MPH TO 40-35 AFTER TRAVELING FOR 4 HOURS ON LONG DISTANCE (TRIPS) . I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO COOL OFF AND GAIN SPEED. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGERS TO WHEN BIG TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES ARE COMING BEHIND YOU AT A FAST SPEED AND YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER QUICKLY. I HAVE TO PUT A TRANSMISSION VALVE KIT AND COOLER ON MY CAR BECAUSE NISSAN NEGLECTED TO PUT THESE PARTS ON MY CAR. SHAME ON YOU NISSAN. HOW CAN YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING YOUR ERROR, GREED, OR LACK OF COMPASSION CAN CAUSE PEOPLE THEIR LIVES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN COMPLAINED ABOUT ON VARIOUS BLOGS AND NO RECALL HAS TAKEN PLACE. I AM ANNOYED AND THEN MY CASE MANAGER FOR MY COMPLAINT TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN OUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. NO, DON'T BLAME THIS ON ME. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. LEFT ME STRANDED IN 98 DEGREE HEAT. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED ONLY TO FIND OUT ONLY THE DEALERSHIP COULD DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. TOWED IT TO THE DEALER. FOUND OUT IT WAS A STEERING LOCK ISSUE THAT HAPPENS TO MOST 2009 AND 2010 ALTIMA'S. NISSAN HAD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, KNOWING IT WAS AN ISSUE, BUT NOT A RECALL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED BEFORE MY CAR HAD THE PROBLEM. I'VE CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE ONLY TO HAVE THEM TELL ME "SORRY, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED". NO KIDDING. SO, ABOUT TO HAVE TO SPEND $1,000 FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL.
ISSUE: UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CONDITIONS: 2PM/CLEAR/PARKING LOT WHILE MAKING U-TURN TO THE RIGHT, BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. STEPPED AGAIN ON BRAKES, MORE FIRMLY, BUT DID NOT SLOW CAR WHICH CONTINUED TO ROLL SLOWLY FORWARD ABOUT 7 MPH. SUDDENLY, LOUD REVVING, CAR CONTINUED FORWARD ROLL. IMMEDIATELY, ADDED LEFT FOOT TO BRAKE, PRESSING WITH FULL WEIGHT. NO RESPONSE. ABOUT 2-3 SECOND AFTER REVVING/HARD BRAKING, THE CAR OPENED FULL THROTTLE AND HURTLED FORWARD ABOUT 1-1/2 TO 2 CAR LENGTHS; SLAMMED INTO WALL. AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY MY CAR HAD ONLY 25290 MILES (ONLY ABOUT TWO YEARS OF NORMAL USAGE) AT THE TIME THE SYSTEM FAILED. MY LEFT KNEE SUSTAINED SMALL GASH FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN I WAS SLAMMED BACK AFTER IMPACT THREW ME FORWARD, FOREHEAD KNOCKED THE UPPER STEERING WHEEL. NOTE: ABOUT 1 MONTH PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, THE AUDIO CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL HONKED THE HORN INSTEAD. THE NEXT DAY, THEY WERE OK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN TESTED AT THE COLLISION CENTER AFTER ACCIDENT; IT'S ON TAPE. THE REP AT THE COLLISION CENTER WAS INFORMED OF THE SWITCH PROBLEM FROM THE START. WHEN I THEM TESTED DAYS LATER, THE AUDIO CONTROLS WORKED PROPERLY. ALSO, AN INDICATOR ON THE DASH WENT FROM SHOWING THE MPG WITH A BAR AS I ACCELERATED OR SLOWED, THEN SWITCHED TO A DIGITAL REPORT OF 18 MPG/CITY. IT KEPT SHIFTING BETWEEN THESE INDICATORS WITHOUT MY INTERFERENCE. FINALLY, THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY ALTHOUGH IMPACT CLEARLY EXCEEDED 15 MPH. I NOTED THAT OFTEN AN EVENT WAS PRECIPITATED BY A SLOWING, AND A TURN. WHEN I RECENTLY TALKED TO A NISSAN TECH ABOUT THE SWITCHES, AIRBAG, INDICATOR FAILURES, HE MENTIONED PINCHED HARNESS COULD BE A POSSIBILITY.
STEERING LOCK FAILURE. THE CAR HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS PART BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED LAST YEAR. MY CAR IS UNUSABLE DUE TO THE HIGH COST TO REPLACE THIS PART. (1000.00) NISSAN SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL THIS PART AND COVER THE COST SINCE IT IS A DEFECT ON THEIR PART. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT JUST WOULDN'T START BACK UP.

I SPOKE WITH THE CUSTOME SERVICE REP WITH THE NISSAN DEPARTMENT AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE MY MY CAR TO THE DEALESHIP AND LET THEM DIGNOSED THE PROBLEMS AND CALL BACK AND THEY MAY BE ABLE TO HELP. CALLED BACK WITH THE DDIAGNOSTIC RESULT AND MY CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 AND THEIR WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I FEEL A RECALL SHOULD BE CALL ON THIS PART. IF THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO HAVE THIS FIX THEY SHOULD HAVE INFORMED BUYER OF THIS LIKE IT WAS A RECALL.

I CONTACTED TRIPLE A, THEY WASN'T SUCCESSFUL GETTING MY VEHICLE STARTED, SO I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO PEP BOYS WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, THEN I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP.

THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART IN THE 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA AND THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR.
