Loss of power after 2-3 hours of driving, speed dropped down from 70mph to 45mph and then continue to drop to 20-25mph on the highway. Pull over on the should waited for about an hour and then it regained power for about an hour till once going uphill it loss power again. This is very dangerous to loose power like this on a high traffic interstate highway.
Key warning light on dash which indicates steering lock module malfunction
Went to work with no issues. Got off and went to grocery store and when I came out to leave, car would not start. The key indicator and steering lock indicator on indicating a malfunction. Car would not start for no reason. After a day I had to have the car towed to my house at my expense. It is terrible to have so many people have the same issue and being stranded by this malfunction, which is extremely unsafe. Terrible to see how nissan will not fix this obvious error on their part to protect their customers safety. Now I am being told that the recall to fix this wasnover may of 2020 and it is going to cost over a thousand dollars. I was never notified of a recall and this fox should be honored but it is not. Terribly disappointed. Nissan, get your act together!!!!
Steering lock mechanism malfunction leaving me stranded due to the car not starting. Intelligence key lock displaying indicating the issue being a malfunction. I was left stranded over 40 miles away from home. I’m stranded on an island and haven’t had any insurance rep look at it. Vehicle is being towed over 40 miles to a Nissan dealership. There was no warning. I went to work that day without any issues and when I was ready to leave the car would not start and the key light was on. I had to spend money on a rental car to get home. This is extremely unsafe to know this can happen due to a part Nissan is very aware of.
have 117,000 miles and my transmission went out, the car will start but will not go in drive and will not go in reverse.
My transmission went out on me while I tried to accelerate at a busy intersection. There was no check the engine light or maintenance required light that popped up but just wouldn't go nowhere. I had to call 911 in order to direct traffic on top of calling a tow truck. I had to wait 45 on both and directed traffic myself from not getting hurt or prevent someone from hitting me and my car. The transmission was already replaced once in 2016 now its needing to be replaced again with a price tag of about $4000 which is wrong when I took car of the car very well by doing what was required of the maintenance and the part that they put on through the warrenty in 2016 only is good for 1 year which is not fair for the car owner knowing that this is an ongoing problem with nissan. I feel like if it's under 5 years or 100,000 after a part have been replace they should pay for it because thats the price for another car
I GOT IN MY CAR I DROVE UP TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE WHICH I TOOK MY NEIGHBOR TO TURN MY CAR OFF WENT IN CAME BACK OUT AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND WOULD NOT UNLOCK AT WHICH TIME I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE HOUSE WHICH COST ME $125 AND 3 HOURS. COME TO FIND OUT THE PART IS ON RECALL THAT CALLS THE CAR TO DO THIS AND THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO HONOR IT SAYING I HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE IT
A NIGHTMARE WHILE AWAKE. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A BANK PARKING LOT I HIT A POLE LIGHTLY. I STOPPED THE CAR BEFORE SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. WHEN I ACCELERATED THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AT A FAST SPEED. I TRIED BRAKING BUT THE CAR KEPT GOING FORWARD SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF A PARKED SUV WITH THE DRIVER INSIDE PUSHING IT FROM THE PARKING SPACE UP ONTO THE SIDE WALK. AND SIDE SWIPING A PARKED TRUCK PUSHING IT INTO THE SUV PASSENGER SIDE.. THE ACCELERATION WAS SO GREAT I AM SO MY CAR IS TOTALED. I AM PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONAL SICKEN BY THIS AND THE DAMAGES CAUSED FROM SOMETHING NISSAN COULD HAVE PREVENT BY FIXING THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS STILL TRYING GO AFTER BEING STOPPED BY THE VEHICLE I HIT AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE LADY FROM THE BANK TOLD ME TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THAT STOPPED THE CAR. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR OUT OF DRIVE MODE AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN IN DRIVE MODE. THIS WAS A SCENE OUT OF A HORROR SHOW. IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD MA AWAY FROM MY HOME. I AM GLAD THE INJURIES ARE NOT FATAL AS ONE INCIDENT WAS.
I WAS LEFT STRANDED WHEN CAR WOULD NOT START. THANKFULLY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. TURNS OUT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE STEERING WHEEL LOCK. NISSAN HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD A SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THIS PART FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE AT MANUFACTURE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS CAMPAIGN AND AM NOW OUT $862.46 AS NISSAN DECIDED IT WILL NO LONGER HONOR THEIR RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS CAMPAIGN.
MY STEERING COLUMN LOCKED AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THIS ALSO HAPPENED 8 YEARS AGO IN THE YEAR 2013. I WAS STRANDED BOTH TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. BUT NOW THERE IS NO LONGER A RECALL IN PLACE. THE REPAIR IS VERY COSTLY.
IN 2020 RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN FOR STEERING COLUMN LOCK REPLACEMENT. TOOK CAR TO GREENVILLE NISSAN (GREENVILLE, NC). SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY NOT PART OF THAT RECALL, DESPITE THE NISSAN USA LETTER, SO I LEFT. APPROX. 9 MONTHS LATER (2/23/2021) THAT EXACT PART BROKE ON MY CAR, RESULTING IN INABILITY TO START ENGINE. COST ME $900+ OUT OF POCKET TO FIX EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS RECALLED FOR AND NOT ORIGINALLY DONE. FWIW THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THE SAME DEALERSHIP TRIED THE SAME THING WITH HIM ON HIS CAR. I AM ATTACHING ALL MY DOCUMENTATION FROM ORIGINAL LETTER, DOCUMENTS DEALER GAVE ME IN 2020, AND THE 2021 REPAIR AS WELL AS THE COST OF A RENTAL CAR TO GET AROUND DURING SERVICE.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SEEMS TO BE FAULTY DUE TO A SENSOR FAIL. SO THE AIRBAG LIGHT MALFUNCTIONS AND THE AIRBAG WON'T WORK. SINCE THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS HOPING YOU WOULD LOOK INTO A RECALL. WENT TO START MY CAR THE OTHER DAY AND IT FAILED TO START WITH A LITTLE KEY ICON ON THE DASHBOARD AND MY PUSH TO START BUTTON READING LOCK. I ASSUMED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD BECAUSE IT WAS ABOUT -20 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AT THE TIME, HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO JUMP IT IT STILL WOULDN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER WHEN I PRESSED THE START BUTTON. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR, HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON ONLY SELECT CARS FOR THE MAKE MODEL AND YEAR DESPITE IT BEING WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE THAT LINE OF VEHICLE FOR THAT YEAR. WHILE I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BEING STRANDED SOMEWHERE IN THIS COLD OF WEATHER WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO START YOUR CAR COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START VEHICLE, THERE WAS A SECURITY ALERT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
CAR WOULD NOT START. WAS TOLD THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE IN 2014 AND IT WAS REPAIRED AFTER I WAS STRANDED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE 2014 REPAIR WAS A YEAR AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOR THE NISSAN HEADQUARTERS WOULD ASSIST IN THE $800 REPAIR. RECENTLY I NOTICED THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL) BEING DEACTIVATED AND BEING REPLACED WITH A ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN BOX. THIS OFFER EXPIRED MAY 30, 2020. HOWEVER, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN HEADQUARTERS I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE MODIFIED. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON YOUR WEBSITE REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.
MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2009 DOESN'T START AT ALL AND THE SYMPTOMS CLEARLY SHOWS THAT IS THE ISSUE WITH ESCL THAT NISSAN ALTIMA HAS ACKNOWLEGED, HOWEVER THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE IT WAS FOR A LIMITED TIME PERIOD AND I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT IT. TODAY I WAS STRANDED AS THE CAR WAS JUST NOT STARTING.THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING. COULD YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAS CAUSED MY TYRODE TO COME OFF CAUSE THE BRACKET THAT IS ON THE STRUT BAR THAT THE STABALIZER BOLTS ONTO HAS BROKE OFF FROM WHERE ITS ATTACHED TO. I CAN NOT KEEP THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL TIGHT IT HAS CAME OFF WITH ME DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET WHICH WAS SEAGOVIILLE RD. IN SEAGOBILLE TX. ALL PROBLEMS FRONT SUSPENSION.
THE STEERING COLUMN ON THE CAR HAS LOCKED ON ME TWICE IN TWO WEEKS, REQUIRING TWO SEPARATE TOWS, $800 IN REPAIRS, $427 IN TOWING AND $69 IN RENTAL AND UBER. CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP. I PARKED THE CAR BOTH TIMES AND WHEN I CAME BACK THE STEERING COLUMN WAS UNABLE TO BE MOVED, BRAKE PEDAL COULD NOT BE DEPRESSED TO START THE CAR.
STEERING LOCK MODULE FAILURE, NO START CONDITION. SECOND OCCURRENCE, STRANDED AGAIN. VEHICLE PARKED.
THE 2009 ALTIMA ESCL FAILED IN MY CAR. THE KEY FOB REMAINS PROGRAMMED WITH THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE STEERING COLUMN WILL NOT UNLOCK THUS RENDERING THE VEHICLE IMMOBILE. I WAS STRANDED IN A REMOTE AREA APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR'S DRIVE FROM MY APPARTMENT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE OF WHICH A 'SERVICE CAMPAIGN' WAS ISSUED BY NISSAN. HOWEVER, MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THAT CAMPAIGN.

A FAULTY STEERING LOCK ON THE ALTIMA PREVENTED ME FROM STARTING MY CAR. I WAS STRANDED IN A REMOTE AREA FOR 7.5 HOURS AT NEAR FREEZING WEATHER.
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED THIS AS A USED CAR.WE HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR A FEW WEEKS WITH IT WORKING JUST FINE UP UNTIL LAST THURSDAY WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS ON HIS WAY TO WORK AND STOPPED FOR GAS.HE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN HE WENT TO TURN IT BACK ON, THE CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE.WE TRIED TO JUMP IT AND GOT NOTHING. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND GOT NOTHING.LOOKED ON YOUTUBE TO SEE WHAT ELSE IT COULD BE.CAME ACROSS A VIDEO TALKING ABOUT THE STEERING LOCK ON 2009 NISSANS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR GOING OUT AND PREVENTING THE CAR FROM STARTING. HE TRIED TO FIX IT AND CHECK THE FUSES UNDER THE STEERING AND GOT IT TO START. WE WERE SO HAPPY AND THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FLUKE UNTIL HE TRIED DRIVING IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. HE LEFT THE HOUSE, STARTED JUST FINE AND WENT TO HIS DESTINATION. ONCE HE WAS DONE AND TRIED TO LEAVE. THERE IT WAS AGAIN. CAR DID NOT START. THE STEERING WAS LOCKED. STUCK.TURNS OUT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT ENDED IN MAY OF 2020 OF THIS EXACT ISSUE.I CALL NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE TO SEE WHAT I CAN DO TO GET THEM TO REPLACE IT SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A MANUFACTURED ISSUE AND THEY WERE TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND THE ISSUES THAT I'M READING A LOT OF PEOPLE STILL HAVING WITH THIS IS NO LONGER VALID.AND WE WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.THIS IS NOT RIGHT.BEING THAT'S IT'S NOT OUR ISSUE.I CAN UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS SOMETHING WE CAUSED BUT WE DIDN'T, THE PREVIOUS OWNER NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL. AND NOW WE HAVE IT AND IT FALLS ON US BECAUSE NISSAN DECIDES TO EXPIRE A KNOWN RECALL THAT IS STILL HAPPENING. THIS IS SUCH A SAFETY CONCERN. WE HAVE CHILDREN AND LIKE TO GO ON ROAD TRIPS. WHAT IF WE GET STRANDED WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE, NO FOOD NO DRINKS NO NOTHING AND SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED BECAUSE NISSAN REFUSED TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT WAS THEIR FAULT. LET ME TELL YOU. HUGE LAW SUIT. I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL SOMEONE GETS THIS ISSUES RESOLVED.
OUT OF NOWHERE A KEY LIGHT TURNED ON THE DASHBOARD. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC & WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY THE REMOTE. REPROGRAMMED THE REMOTE & CHANGED BATTERIES BUT THE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I'VE NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER LOCKS. THEY TOLD ME IT'LL COST TO GET IT REPAIRED. THE CAR RUNS PERFECTLY FINE THE ONLY ISSUE IS THAT THE LIGHT IS ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T LOCK. I WAS TOLD IF I DON'T GET IT FIXED IT CAN TURN INTO A BIGGER PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I'VE BEEN SEEING A LOT OF OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CAUSE BY ME NOR MY DRIVING. THE PART IS FAULTY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. AGAIN. SINCE THE RECALL FOR THE STEERING WHEEL EXPIRED IN MAY.
SOME TIMES DONT START THE KEY SIBOL APPESRS ALTIMA 2009 COUPE I LIVED IN PURTO RICO
MODEL 09 ALTIMA HAS A KNOWN DEFECT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN LOCKS BECAUSE IT IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY ITS OWN KEY. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT BUT THIS COULD HAVE HAPPEND ANYWHERE IF THIS PART HAD FAILED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR EXAMPLE. THE VEHICLE OPERATES USING PUSH START AND THERE IS NO PHYSICAL KEY TO START THE ENGINE OUTSIDE OF INSERTING THE FOB, WHICH ALSO DIDNT WORK. ON 10/21/2020 THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE KEY/FOB AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO TURN ON THE CAR AND IT HAS TO BE TOWED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS PART FAILED RANDOMLY AND RENDERED THE CAR INOPERABLE, THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2014. NISSAN COVERED REPLACING THIS PART THE FIRST TIME AFTER A SERVICE CAMPAIGN BUT IS NOW REFUSING TO DO SO FOR THIS NON WEAR AND TEAR PROBLEM. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY CONCERNING AND FRUSTRATING SAFETY PROBLEM AS THIS PART CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME AND PREVENT THE CAR FROM STARTING OR MOVING, OUTSIDE OF TOWING AND THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS ISSUE HAVE HAPPENED. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY REFUSE TO FINANCIALLY HELP, WARRANTY OR REIMBURSE US FOR A SAFETY MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT PREVENTS THE CAR FROM RECOGNIZING ITS OWN KEY/FOB WITH NO ALTERNATIVE WAY TO START THE CAR. THE COST OF REPAIR AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS $800+ TO BE ABLE TO GET INTO OUR OWN CAR AFTER NISSAN REFUSED TO HELP US FOR THEIR OWN MANUFACTURER FAILURE. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR MANY DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WHO OWN THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR AND MAYBE SUSPECT TO THEIR CAR GETTING COMPLETELY DISABLED AT ANY TIME FROM THIS PART'S FAILURE WITH NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO TOW IT OUT OF THE WAY. STEERING COLUMN ACTUATOR LOCKED
I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM GOING OUT WITH FRIENDS AND I GOT IN MY CAR TO LEAVE WHICH I DROVE TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE A FEW HOURS BEFORE RETURNING. SHE LIVES IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX SO I WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT. I TRIED TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. THERE WAS A LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT SAID KEY(IT'S YELLOW) . I COULD BARELY PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE AND I WASN'T ABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. I CALLED MY FRIEND WHO HAS THE EXACT SAME MAKE , MODEL AND YEAR NISSAN AS ME AND HE SAID HE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH HIS CAR A FEW MONTHS AGO. THANK GOD I WASN'T AT AN UNKNOWN PLACE OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO GET HOME. I WANTED TO REPORT THIS BECAUSE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO.
WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO GO TO WORK AND TRY TO TURN THE CAR, THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO TURN ON, THE CAR LOCKED THE STEERING WHEEL, I HAVE THE KEY PRESENT AND IT'S TELLING ME IT'S LOCKED, THE STEERING WHEEL IS REALLY HARD (LOCKED) AND THE BREAK GOT REALLY HARD TO PRESS DOWN. MY CVT TRANSMISSION BELT BROKE BUT BEFORE THIS HAPPENED MY SPEED SENSOR WAS FAILING AND ALSO MY STEP MOTOR I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS WITH VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS ALSO THE CAR IS STUCK IN NEUTRAL.
THE CAR STARTED DRIVING FUNNY AND I TOOK IT IN AND THEY TOLD ME IT HAS TO DO WITH THE STRUTS.
WHILE IN MOTION AND MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO AN INTERSECTION MY STEERING WHEEL WAS MAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTINUE TURNING LEFT AND THEN IT LOCKED. WAS GOING TO HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER BETWEEN ROAD AND SIDEWALK WHERE PEDESTRIANS WALK, HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES TO PREVENT A CRASH. AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS THE CAR ILUMINATED ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH AND TOLD ME THE CAR WAS OFF. I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKED AND WAS ABLE TO GO IN REVERSE A BIT TO COMPLETE MY LEFT TURN. HAD A SIMILAR SCENARIO MANY YEARS AGO WHEN FIRST PURCHASING THE CAR, WHEN ACCELERATING IN THE HIGHWAY ND DRIVING STRAIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL LOCKED, COULDNT TURN TGE STEERIBG WHEEL AT ALL. FELT AS IF THE CAR TURNED ITSELF OF EVEN THOUGH CAR ELECTRONICS WERE ON SUCH AS THE RADIO. SECONDS LATER THE LIGHTS ILUMINATED IN THE DASH AND WAS ABLE TO TURN ON THE CAR AND STEERIBG WHEEL UNLOCKED. BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES, SO THEY DECIDED TO RESTART THE COMPUTER AND DID NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN UNTIL LAST THURSDAY WHERE IT TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE TURNING. EXRREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 149,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY.
DASHBOARD IS MELTING. STICKY AND SHINY IN HOT SUN CAUSING SEVERE VISIBILITY PROBLEMS.
INTERMITTENTLY THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. BASED ON REPLACING THE BRAKE SWITCH, KEY FOB, AND BATTERY THE MOST COMMON COMPLAINT FALLS WITH THE ESCL FAILING TO ENGAGE AND REPORT IT'S STATUS. SINCE THIS IS A PUSH BUTTON START AND THERE IS NO MANUAL BACKUP, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START WITHOUT THIS PROPERLY REPORTING. CURRENTLY, I DON'T KNOW WHETHER OR NOT MY CAR WILL START ON ANY GIVEN DAY AND I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE IT IN PARKING LOTS AND GET RIDES WHEN IT FAILS TO START IN THE PAST.
ITS MAKING ALOT NOISE JERKING WHEN DRIVING.
WHEN DRIVING FOR A PERIOD OF TIME IN HEAT, THE CAR LOSES SPEED AND BEGINS TO DROP ON ITS OWN. AND IF UTILIZING MANUAL, THE GEARS WON'T DOWNSHIFT. I'VE HAD TO PULL OVER NUMEROUS TIMES AND WAIT ABOUT 15 MINS BEFORE DRIVING AGAIN AND IT'S FINE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAR NEEDS A TRANSMISSION COOLER KIT INSTALLED. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE AND WONDER WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DONE ON THIS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES SPEED. DATE LISTED BELOW IS THE LAST TIME THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED. BUT, HAS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY A YEAR AGO ON A TRIP AND RECENTLY PRIOR TO LAST TIME, A MONTH AGO.
MY 2009 ALTIMA, WHILE PARKED, WILL NOT START, AND APPARENTLY, AFTER INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM, THE ELECTRIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEVICE IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HEARD THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS DEVICE BECAUSE OF THE FREQUENCY OF ITS OCCURENCE.
ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL) I WAS IN A REMOTE PARKING LOT AT NIGHT ALONE WHERN THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL. IT WAS A POORLY LIT PARKING LOT AND I WAS A WOMAN BY MYSELF AT NIGHT AND SCARED. I WAS IN A PARKED STATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER PULLED OFF THE ROADWAY, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE VEHICLE DROVE AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB-10052883-6508 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

THE CAR WON'T START, EVEN IF I PUT THE KEY FOB IN THE KEY HOLE NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK HAD A LOCKSMITH TRY TO REPROGRAM, BUT HE SAID THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID THEY'RE WERE ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. *TR

I PURCHASED THIS CAR JANUARY 2018. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS. CURRENTLY, MY DASHBOARD IS SO STICKY THAT IT IS LITERALLY PEELING OFF AND HAS A TOXIC SMELL TO IT. I'VE TRIED CALL NISSAN AND THEY FIRST TOLD ME THERE WAS NO CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT, THEN THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WAS TOO OLD, THE LATEST IS THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS FROM 2017. I SAID IF YOU HAVE DEFECTIVE DASH BOARDS IT SHOULDN'T MATTER HOW OLD THE CAR IS AND NISSAN SHOULD FIX IT. I AM GETTING A GLARE FROM THE REFLECTION ON WINDSHIELD SO THIS IS DANGEROUS. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE LEFT WITH THIS PROBLEM. CAN YOU ASSIST ME?
