MECHANIC FOUND CRACKED STRUTS AND ADVISED IS A DANGER TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM (09V358000) FOR MY YEAR AND VEHICLE TYPE. MY VIN INCLUDED IN RECALL. WHY? THE ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR IS $940 + A $140 DIAGNOSTIC. THE CAR IS JERKY AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVING. I AM NOW CONFINED TO ONLY DRIVE LOCALLY UNTIL I CAN AFFORD THE $1K COST TO REPAIR. WHY IS MY CAR NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL?
DRIVING ON I95 FROM GATLINBURG MY CAR STARTED MAKE A HORRIBLE WHINING NOISIE, SHUCK IT'S HAS DONE BEFORE JUST NOT THIS BAD, IT HAS BEFORE BUT I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AND JUST STOPPED AND LET IT SIT AND IT STOPPED . NOW IT HAPPENS EVERYTTIME I GET IN THE CAR. OR THAT I HAVE TO BEG IT GO WHEN IT'S IN GEAR, WHEN I PULL OUT I'D DOESN'T GO. TAKATA RECALL WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUTTER AND WITH NO WHERE SAFE TO PULL OVER CONTINUED DOWN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE TOOK SO LONG TO GET UP TO SPEED I THOUGHT SOMETHING TERRIBLE WAS GOING TO HAPPENED. WHEN I GOT TO A SAFE PLACE I PULLED OVER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND DECIDED TO TRY AGAIN AND IMMEDIATELY IT STARTED SHUTTERING AND NO POWER I INSTANTLY PULLED OVER CALL MY HUSBAND AND THEN CALLED A TOWING SERVICE. I'VE READ SINCE THIS HAPPENED ITS MORE COMMON AND DANGEROUS THAN I EVER IMAGINED..
THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY IMPACT UPON MAKING A RIGHT TURN, SUBSEQUENTLY, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO AND RAN OVER A CURB CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.
IN THE LAST YEAR OR TWO I NOTICED MY DASH START CHANGING. ITS STARTED HAVING SPOTS BTHAT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS MELTING. I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING SIMPLE THAT COULD BE CLEANED. I WAS WRONG, IT JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE. THE DASH IS GOOEY AND STICKY AND NOW HAS SUCH A SHINE ON IT THAT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD THAT I HAVE ALMOST HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND COME NEAR HITTING PEDESTRIANS BECAUSE YOU JUST CANT SEE FROM THE GLARE IT CREATES,
MY 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A "MELTING" DASH, PARTICULARLY AROUND THE DEFROSTER AREA. IT IS STICKY IN OTHER PARTS OF DASH ON SIDES AND WHERE IT IS MOLDED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED ON NBC5 IN DALLAS, TX IN THE MONTH OF JULY FOR 2008-2009 MODELS. TO MY SURPRISE, MY 2010 HAS SAME ISSUE. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN LOTS ALTIMA'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE EXCEPT REPLACEMENT, OVER $1000 DOLLARS. I AM STILL PAYING ON THIS CAR (SINCE 2014) AND FEEL IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY NISSAN SINCE IT IS CAUSED BY THEM USING A SUB STANDARD MATERIAL. THIS CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN MISSISSIPPI ACCORDING TO NISSAN. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CONTINUES TO DISINTEGRATE IN HIGH HEAT. CANNOT PARK IN SUN & CAN'T PUT SUN SCREEN UP WHERE MELTED, IT STICKS & MAKES PERMANENT MARKS IN DASH. SINCE IT APPEARS SHINY IT GIVES OFF A GLARE ON WINDSHIELD. NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A FIX. THIS IS MY SECOND ALTIMA AND IT DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE! I CAN PROVIDE PHOTO ON REQUEST.
CVT TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY GAVE OUT TODAY ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. MY CAR WAS GOING 65 ONE MINUTE AND THEN LOST COMPLETE POWER. STARTED SEARCHING ONLINE FOR MORE INFO ONLY TO FIND HUNDREDS OF OTHER OWNERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM ALL MODELS AND YEARS FROM 2007 TO 2016! MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN A SPECIAL WARRANTY ISSUED BY NISSAN BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT IT'S ONLY VALID UNDER 120K MILES. NOW I HAVE NO CAR, NO MONEY TO FIX THIS ONE OR BUY ANOTHER. THE UNRELIABILITY HAS RUINED MY LIFE AND I DON'T KNOW HOW I'M GOING TO GET BY. SADLY, THE FEAR OF WHAT I'M GOING TO DO WITH MY FUTURE IS ONLY SECOND TO THE FEAR I FELT THIS MORNING WHEN THE CAR I'VE POURED A LOT OF MONEY INTO AND TAKE TREMENDOUS CARE OF ALMOST GOT ME KILLED. NO DASH LIGHTS. NO WARNING. NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF THIS VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. FINE ONE DAY, COMPLETELY UNDRIVABLE THE NEXT. I WAS ON 83 NORTH IN MD AND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI DOING 70+ MPH IN THE LEFT LANE.
PROBLEM: ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY AND CAR WOULD NOT SWITCH INTO HIGHER GEAR PREVENTING CAR FROM GOING MORE THAN 20 MPH ON A 75 MPH HIGHWAY. NISSAN TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND THE REPAIRS WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED 100% UNDER THE WARRANTEE EXTENSION IF THE CAR HAD BEEN WITHIN THE 120,000 LIMIT. OUR CAR WAS JUST 8% OVER THAT LIMIT BUT NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT WOULD NOT HELP IN ANY WAY. THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS AND DOUBLED THE WARRANTEE BUT THAT WAS ALL THEY WERE GOING TO DO. THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT ARE CAUSING THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS TO FAIL AT 120,000 MILES ARE CAUSING THEM TO FAIL AT 131,000 MILES IN MY CASE. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR REPAIRING THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. I AM NOT CERTAIN WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN MANDATED. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED AND ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM AND IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN TO LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING.
MY VEHICLE SLOWS SEVERELY DOWN WHEN I DRIVE IN STEEP HILLS..
MY DASH BOARD IS SUPER STICKY/TACKY, AND HAS A GLARE WHEN DRIVING, WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE THE FRONT PIECES WITH A PRY TOOL, THE DASH PEELS OFF IN CHUNKS AND REMAINS STUCK ON YOUR FINGER/ PRY TOOL LIKE A MELTED WAX. IT'S NOT THE SAME CONSISTENCY AS THE GLOVE BOX, YOU CAN STICK YOUR FINGERNAIL IN IT AND IT LEAVES INTENTIONS, MY PAINT IS ALSO COMING OFF IN LARGE SPOTS ALL OVER THE CAR.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND HAS A VERY BAD GLARE WHEN THE SUN IS OUT. THIS CAUSES VISION TO BE VERY POOR AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND OTHER CARS AND PEDESTRIAN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE GLARE. THE ISSUE WITH THE DASHBOARD IS THE SAME AS THE LAWSUIT THAT WAS FILED AGAINST NISSAN BY A GIRARD GIBBS AND NISSAN LOST. BUT IT WAS FOR 2008-2009 MODELS. I TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN AND THE COST TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD IS $2634.
MY ENGINE IS MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND WHEN ACCELARATING AND IT HAS EXCESSIVE BLOWBY WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON SAYING CATALYTIC CONVERTER ,EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL GETTING PAST MY PVC SYSTEM IT ONLY HAS 129880 MILES ON IT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE DEALER (ANTWERPEN NISSAN SECURITY, 1701 WOODLAWN DR., BALTIMORE, MD 21207) WAS NOTIFIED AND UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
I WENT TO START MY ALTIMA ONE DAY AND IT WOULDN'T START. NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND IT NEVER DOES THIS. WENT ON YOUTUBE AND SAW VIDEOS ABOUT A QUICK FIX ON THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK COLUMN. DID WHAT THE VIDEO SAID AND THE CAR STARTED UP. CALLED NISSAN BECAUSE I FOUND A CUSTOMARY REPLACEMENT ON THIS PART FOR KNOWN DEFECTS BUT NO FULL RECALL WA ISSUED. MY VIN DID NOT POPULATE SAYING I COULD GET MINE REPLACED AND THEY QUOTED ME $1000 FOR REPLACEMENT AND LABOR. THIS DEFAULT IN LEAVES YOU STRANDED WITH NO VEHICLE. ASKED NISSAN CORPORATE IF THEY COULD MAKE AN EXCEPTION FOR MY VIN AND THEY TOLD ME NO. VERY DISPLEASED WITH THIS SERVICE.

THE INCIDENT HAPPENED THE WEEK OF 02/08/18 MY WIFE NOTICED SOME LIGHT VDC SLIP ABS LIGHTS ALL CAME ON THEM WHILE ON HIGHWAY ALL OF THE BRAKES LOCKED AND SHE COULD NOT ACCELERATE CAR.
THE AIRBAG DASH LITE KEEPS ON BLINKING AFTER STARTING VEHICLE. CONTINUES BLINKING WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE HAS 59,100 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 40 MPH, THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, LIFTED THE HOOD, AND NOTICED FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED NOR TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-647-7261 AND STATED THAT THE INVESTIGATORS WOULD CONTACT HIM WITHIN THREE DAYS. CASE NUMBER: 27217273 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
DIAGNOSED AS BODY CONTROL MODULE: DRAINS BATTERY INCLUDING NEW INSTALLED BATTERY; FOB WITH NEW BATTERY WILL NOT LOCK THE VEHICLE AND WILL NOT ACTIVATE ALARM SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE LOCATOR BUTTON SPORADICALLY PERFORMS; FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY (WILL NOT GO DOWN OR CONSTANTLY GOES UP AND DOWN AND SAYS IN A HALF-UP/HALF -DOWN POSITION; RADIO AND CLOCK LOSES DIGITAL DISPLAY CONSTANTLY WHEN DRIVING. NEED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO GET THE RADIO/CLOCK TO DISPLAY. AFRAID THE ENTIRE ELECTRONIC BODY MODULE WILL FAIL AT ANY GIVEN TIME EFFECTING THE SAFETY OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. DATE BELOW INDICATING "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" IS THE DATE IT WAS DIAGNOSED BY MECHANIC.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD DISINTEGRATED AND THE RADIO MALFUNCTIONED AND FAILED TO OPERATE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HILL NISSAN (6401 CYPRESS GARDENS BLVD, WINTER HAVEN, FL 33884, (863) 299-2161) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD AND THE HVAC WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,025. *TT *AS
THERE IS A OIL SMELL COMING THROUGH THE AIR CONDITION VENT WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN THE HEAT IS ON.THE SMELL IS STRONG .THE ONLY TIME WHEN THE SMELL IS NOT COMING OUT IS WHEN THE AC/HEATER IS OFF OR WHEN I HAVE THE UNIT ON CIRCULATION AND AC ON AT THE SAME TIME.IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW FAR I TRAVEL THE SMELL IS THERE.THE VOLUME CONTROL OF THE AC/HEATER HAS A DELAY OF COMING ON,.I WANT TO KNOW WHY IS THIS CAR DOING THIS ,IT'S A 2010 IT ALSO LOOK LIKE IT HAS SOME WATER DAMAGE.
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS OF CONTINUOUS DRIVING THE VEHICLE REFUSES TO ACCELERATE. WHATEVER SPEED YOU ARE DRIVING AT THE TIME THE ISSUE KICKS IN IS THE MAXIMUM SPEED THE VEHICLE WILL DRIVE. STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO RESET THE PROCESS AND YOU CAN DRIVE NORMALLY FOR THE NEXT 15 - 30 MINUTES UNTIL THE PROBLEM RESURFACES. LOOKING ONLINE INDICATES THIS A COMMON ISSUE FOR NISSAN VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM 2007 - 2010. THE ISSUES SEEMS TO SURFACE ONCE THE VEHICLES HIT 80,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IN MY CASE IT PREVENTED ME FROM DIVING AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT WHILE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY.
ON 9/10/17 ABOUT NOON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD CAME ON, PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHILE LOOKING FOR SERVICE PHONE NUMBER, SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, EXITED THE CAR, AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THEN THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND IT WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD AND REMAINED JAMMED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
NOISE COMING FROM AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WHETHER CAR IN MOTION OR STILL WITH AIR STILL COOLING. DEALER HAD NEVER SEEN WHERE AIR COMPRESSOR WAS LOOSE AND ONLY BEING HELD BY BELTS. COULD HAVE CAUSED GREAT ISSUES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. REPLACED AIR COMPRESSOR AT A COST OF OVER $1200.
THE DASH BOARD HAS BEEN MELTING FOR OVER A YEAR.
WHEN I DRIVE IT VERY FAR, IT SLOWS DOWN AND WON'T GO FASTER THAN ABOUT 50MPH. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND LET IT COOL OFF BEFORE IT WILL GO FASTER.
I have three issues with this car. The dash has melted, so much so I could not see out the windshield if the sun was out. The glare on the dash was blinding. I called Nissan and spoke to agent 'shelly', ID #7312915, case # 32725497 in September 2018. I took it to one Nissan dealership and they said not a manufacturing defect, but gave me a quote of $3500 to repair. Took to another Nissan dealership and they gave me another quote for a repair using a dash from the junk yard for 1/2 the price. I gave up and finally purchased a dash cover in August 2019 for around $300 from carparts.com and installed it myself. Very much a driving/safety concern! The sunroof leaks if more than a sprinkle. The back floor board stand in 3" of water. I have to take it to the dealership to have the headliner ripped out to clean the waterline from sunroof to outside (rear wheel well). I have taken it in 2-3 times at a cost of ~$150 each time. I need to go back now, but have currently duct taped the sunroof shut. The VDC and slip light, brake light and tire pressure lights are on. Have had them reset. Last time they told me to disregard the brake light. Just ignore it.
MY CAR AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASH BOARD IS FLASHING. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL AND THEY HAVE SAID NO. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN TO BE EVALUATED. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT.
WHEN IN MOTION DRIVING OR WHEN STATIONARY THERE IS SOMETIMES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE DASHBOARD THAT IS SO SEVERE THAT IT IMPAIRS ABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE DEVELOPED OVER TIME. THE DASHBOARD ITSELF IS TACKY.
WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND THE CAR DOES NOT TURN BACK ON. TO TURN THE CAR IN CAN TAKE AN UPWARDS OF 15 MIN OF FIGHTING WITH THE WHEEL. WE BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ESCL.
I WAS DRIVING ON AN OPEN STRETCH OF INTERSTATE WHEN MY SUNROOF SHATTERED. I WAS NOT NEAR A BRIDGE AND THERE WAS NOT A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME FOR SOME DISTANCE. THE SUNROOF WAS IN THE CLOSED POSITION AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT.

FOUND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON INTERNET DATED MARCH 7, 2017 - "NISSAN ALTIMA AND MAXIMA STEERING LOCK PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED FOR FREE AFTER THE AUTOMAKER ANNOUNCED A 'SERVICE CAMPAIGN' FOR 243,000 MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 NISSAN ALTIMA, ALTIMA COUPE, ALTIMA HYBRID AND MAXIMA CARS. ALTHOUGH NOT A RECALL, THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN WILL FIX STEERING LOCKS (ECLS) THAT LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE ALTIMA AND MAXIMA CARS ARE PARKED AND TURNED OFF. MARION DEALER REPLACED TWO PARTS [24167-ZX00J HARNESS -SUB] AND [25320-JN00A SWITCH ASSY-STOP LAMP] AT COST TO CUSTOMER OF $567. FOR PARTS AND LABOR. CAR STILL WOULD NOT START. DEALER STATED THAT ON "TSB" THEY "FOUND SIMILAR CONCERNS" AND ADDITIONAL PARTS NEED TO BE INSTALLED LISTED IN PROCEDURE," AND "CONFIRMED POWER IS SWITCHING AT BCM BUT NOT ENGAGING STARTER NEED TO REPLACE BCM AND DIAG FURTHER - QUOTED CUSTOMER $569.35 TO REPLACE BCM TO FIX OTHER CONCERN" (CAPITALIZATION PER DEALER). I DECLINED. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN DEALER SHOP. I HAVE TRIED TO SPEAK WITH CORPORATE NISSAN, BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANY SATISFACTION. HARD TO TURN, MAKE NOISE WHEN TURNING AND LOSING POWER STEERING FLUID!!!
I HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO A CORNER THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AND LOSES ALL POWER AND ABILITY TO STEER. THE FIRST TWO OCCASIONS OCCURRED WHERE I COULD SIMPLY PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THE LAST OCCURRENCE 2/9/17 HAPPENED AS DESCRIBED ABOVE WAS TURNING INTO AN ALLEY GOING LESS THAN 20MPH WHEN CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART, THE CAR TURNED ON BUT WHEN PUSHING THE GAS THE CAR WOULD BARELY ACCELERATE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AND THE WRECKER TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET IT UP THE BED AS IT DIDNT HAVE ANY POWER TO DRIVE UP THE BED. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO CODES THAT WERE IDENTIFIED. THEY STATED IT WAS RUNNING JUST FINE, AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZZARD AS THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NOTICE WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND LOSE POWER STEERING. THIS COULD EASILY BE A HUGE ACCIDENT IF OCCURS ON THE FREEWAY. I WOULD LIKE ANSWERS AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF OTHER NISSAN OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS (ALL REPORTING THAT NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES PROMPTED DURING DIAGNOSING).
AFTER DRIVING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS IN WARM WEATHER OR UPHILL, CAR BEGINS TO LOOSE POWER AND BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOT GIVE MORE POWER AND I NEED TO PULL OVER AND WAIT ANYWHERE FROM 15 MINUTES TO AN HOUR FOR THE CAR TO RESET ITSELF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT EVEN WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KAMAAINA NISSAN (471 KALANIANAOLE AVE, HILO, HI 96720) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SEAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD OPEN A CASE AND CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE DASH IS MELTING AND STICKY, CAUSING IT TO BE SHINY. THIS CREATES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE, CAUSING A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD.
ONE DAY ON THE FREEWAY THE CARS RPMS WAD GOING UP AND DOWN WITHOUT ME PRESSING OR TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. I WAS DRIVING 75 MPH. THAT WAS I NOTICED FIRST. THE A COUPLE DAYS LATER CAR WAS SHIFTING HARD INTO REVERSE. I WENT AND GOT A TRANSMISSION FLUSH. TWO DAYS LATER THE CAR WOULDNT MOVE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL AND THE CAR WONT MOVE. MY SLIP LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ARE ON NOW. CAR GAVE ME A CODE OF PO725 ENGINE SPEED SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. I HAVE REPLACED IT AND THE CAR STILL WONT MOVE.
OVER THE YEARS IVED HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRANKE AND ENGINE OF MY 2010 ALTIMA. THE PANEL LIGHTS UP BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK. TAKATA RECALL. ON NOVEMBER , 12 2016, I TOOK MY 2010 NISSIAN ALTIMA INTO GRIFFIN NISSIAN'S DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY VEHICLE LOOKED AT DUE TO AN AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON THE DAY PRIOR, WHILE IN MOTION. IT'S STILL ON PARKED ALSO. IT NEVER GOES OFF. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE IN A SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME AND STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS A SENSOR INSIDE THE PASSENGER SEAT HAS GONE BAD AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED WAS THAT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURE AND HE ADVISED ME THAT HE WASN'T SURE. HE ADVISED IT WOULD BE AN ESTIMATED COST OF AROUND $600.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE SENSOR. I THEN RESEARCH THE ISSUE ABOUT THE SENSOR, AND MY RESEARCH SHOWED THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED NISSIAN MANUFACTURE. AND I EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM MY CAR HAD AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT SOMEONE WOULD VIEW THE CASE AND CONTACT ME BACK. THE NEXT DAY SOMEONE FROM NISSIAN MANUFACTURE CONTACTED ME AND ADVISED I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THE AIRBAG ISSUE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I STATED TO THEM THAT THIS ISN'T A PART THAT HAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND SHOULD BE BACKED BY THE MANUFACTURE AND I EXPRESS HOW THAT SENSOR NOT WORKING CORRECTLY COULD CAUSE MY FAMILY AND I HARM IF WE WERE TO GET INTO A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS FAIL TO DEPLOY. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM GRIFFEN NISSIAN ON 10-15-2014, THE CAR WAS USED, AND HOWEVER I TAKE MY VEHICLE TO GRIFFEN NISSIAN EVERY TIME ITS NEED TO BE SERVICE AND TO HAVE ROUTINE OIL CHANGES.

WHAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 6 HOURS TOOK ME 11 HOURS BECAUSE I HAD STOP EVERY 30-45 MINUTES. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED NISSAN HAD TO GO THROUGH THE STEPS BEFORE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION- BUT AT WHAT COST- WHEN SOMEONE DIES- THEY INSTALLED A CVT OIL COOLER KIT -WELL GUESS WHAT ? 1 YEAR AND 3 MONTHS LATER ON MY FIRST LONG DISTANCE TRIP SINCE LAST YEAR. THE SAME EXACT THING OCCURRED EXCEPT I HAVE 600 MILES BEFORE I GET HOME. I WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ALONE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THANK GOD THE TRUCK BEHIND ME DID NOT HIT ME OR I INJURY SOMEONE ELSE DUE TO THIS ISSUE NISSAN CONTINUES TO IGNORE. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, COULD NOT GET A RENTAL BECAUSE IT WAS A SUNDAY AND THEY WERE CLOSED. SO NOW I'M IN AN UNKNOWN AREA WAITING TO SEE WHAT NISSAN DOES THIS TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
THE CAR DOES NOT START. TOOK OUT BATTERY AND WAS TOLD IT WAS GOOD. CHARGED IT UP AND CAR STARTED. DONE THIS MANY TIMES. TOOK IN TO NISSAN AND THEY KEPT IT 3DAYS. COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND PUT IN A NEW BATTERY. LAST NIGHT, HAD A HARD TIME GETTING IT STARTED WHEN PUSHING THE START BUTTON. RADIO THOUGH COMES ON.
HEAD ON COLLISION AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, BRAKED, DIRECT IMPACT ABOUT 25 MPH, AIRBAGS DID NOT ENGAGE.
