THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 65/70 MPH. I HAD TO BREAK, DUE TO TRAFFIC. I PRESSED ON THE GAS, IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND, THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL. I RELEASED THE GAS AND PRESSED AGAIN...STILL THE SAME THING. THIS IS IN THE MIDDLE OF VERY FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. I HAD TO PUT MY HAZARDS ON, AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN... THEN SUDDENLY AS I WAS RELEASING MY FOOT FROM THE GAS...IT FORCEFULLY ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS, TO KEEP ME FROM HITTING THE CAR IN FROM OF ME. I HAD TO CAREFULLY COAST MY WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, AS I WAS IN THE FAST LANE CLOSEST TO THE MEDIAN. IT STILL WOULDN'T COMPLETELY ACCELERATE, IT KIND OF SCOOTED OVER THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER ABOUT 3 TRIES IT STARTED, AND I COULD DRIVE THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO REPLICATE THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE. IT'S SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, AND AT THE PRESENT MOMENT, DON'T HAVE THE MEANS TO GET IT TOWED ANYWHERE TO BE LOOKED AT. IT'S SUCH A SHAME THAT AS SOON AS YOU PAY A CAR OFF, AND YOU ARE NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, THAT YOU START TO HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS. I BOUGHT A NISSAN, BECAUSE THEY WERE KNOWN FOR THEIR LONGEVITY.... I WILL NEVER BUY NISSAN AGAIN. I LOOK ON THE SITES TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AND HAVE NOT FOUND ONE. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME. I'M A SINGLE MOM, WITH TWO KIDS. ONE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND THE OTHER IN COLLEGE. I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER CAR NOTE.
THE VEHICLE COULD NOT START WHEN TRYING TO START THE ENGINE, 'THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS UP, AND 'THE ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK, (NO CRANK, NO START), (HYBRID 'READY' WILL NOT LIGHT), AND 'THE IGNITION PUSH BUTTON IS NOT RESPONSIVE (NO ACTION OCCURS WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED ADDITIONAL TIMES). THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS
CAR WILL NOT START. BATTERY IS GOOD. THE KEY FAIL/MALFUNCTION SIGNAL KEEPS BLINKING. NOW CAR IS STUCK IN ON POSITION FROM WHEN I PUSHED THE START BUTTON.

MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER CAR DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT STOPPED ACCELERATING ACTING AS IF THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. SHE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO GO ABOVE 25 MILES AN HOUR. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND WAIT FOR HER DAD TO COME AND HELP HER. WHEN HER DAD GOT THERE THE CAR WAS SLUGGISH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE BEING APPLIED. HE SWITCHED THE CAR TO MANUAL AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME. THE ABS, VDC OFF, SLIP LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. THE NEXT DAY ALL LIGHTS WERE OFF AND THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY AT WHICH TIME WE TOOK IT INTO OUR MECHANIC. HE DISCOVERED A POWER BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACING. HE BELIEVED THIS WAS A SAFETY RECALL AS IT HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE 2007, 2008 AND 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. MUCH TO OUR DISMAY NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE 2010 MODELS. MY MECHANIC TOLD US THIS WAS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN.
CAR WAS IN MOTION AND IT STARTED TO JERKING AND QUIT ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WILL RUN BUT WHEN YOU TAKE OFF IT STARTS JERKING AGAIN AND MIGHT SMOOTH OUT FOR A SECOND AND THEN QUITS AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING LOCKED UP WHEN USING THE PUSH TO START FEATURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS PART OF A MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION, WHICH HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OVER A BUMP, A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILING MOTOR MOUNT AND ONE STRUT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
UPON IMPACT WITH ANOTHER CAR (MY FRONT HITTING OTHER CAR'S SIDE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 45 MPH), BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE SEAT BELTS FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER UNLATCHED. WITHOUT THE PROTECTION OF THE SEAT BELTS, OUR LOWER TORSO AND LEGS SHIFTED FORWARD, CAUSING INJURIES TO OUR HIPS, KNEES AND ANKLE. OUR CAR WENT INTO ONGOING TRAFFIC AND THEN LANDED IN SOMEONE'S YARD. IF WE WOULD HAVE STRUCK A SECOND CAR AND THE AIR BAGS STARTED TO DEFLATE, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION FOR THE SECOND COLLISION. WE THANK GOD FOR OUR PROTECTION! WE DID CONTACT NISSAN MANUFACTURING WITH AN INVESTIGATOR. HE COULD NOT VIEW THE CAR IN SALVAGE AS IT MOVED ALREADY TO FINAL PROCESSING FROM BEING TOTALED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SWITCH OUT OF PARK WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE MOVED AFTER BEING RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO ENGAGE UNTIL THE VEHICLE REACHED 15 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE KEY FOB ACTIVATED BY ITSELF ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND CAUSED THE DOORS TO UNLOCK AND THE POWER WINDOWS TO ROLL DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.
I HAVE NUMEROUS STARTING PROBLEMS AND THE VDC,ABS, AND SLIP LIGHT COME ON WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT CAN TAKE 4 OR 5 TRIES UNTIL THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START. THE BATTERY,ALTERNATOR AND STARTER HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE NUMEROUS LIGHTS THAT COME ON WHILE DRIVING PRESENT A PROBLEM ESPECIALLY IF THE ABS SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING.
MY DASHBOARD ON MY 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA IS MELTING/STICKY AND THE GEAR HANDLE IS STICKY AND I'VE CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. I WAS DRIVING AND THERE WAS A GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD! IT'S HARD TO SEE, IT LOOKS LIKE THE SUN IS SHINING DIRECTLY INTO YOUR EYES. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY HAZARD AND NISSAN DOES NOT CARE AT ALL.
DASH IS SO MELTED AND REFLECTS SUN SO MUCH IT I CANNOT SEE WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR 2008 AND 2009 ALTIMAS FOR THIS SAME DEFECT. TOYOTA RECALLED FOR THEIR MELTED DASHBOARD. NHTSA NEEDS TO CARE ABOUT OUR SAFETY AND RECALL ALTIMAS!
The problem is in the Transmission. It is very stressful to know that I can't go faster than 35mph and specially super important that I have to stay under 5mpr or I might blow the motor I'm guessing
DASHBOARD MELTING , GETTING STICKING AND GLARING ON FRONT GLASS WHEN DRIVING, IS VERY UNSAFE AND IT NEED TO BE REPLACE PLEASE BY MANUFACTURER
TAKATA RECAL. WE PURCHASED VEHICLE USED. OUR 2ND ALTIMA. HAD PROBLEMS ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER GETTING THE CAR. IT WOULDN'T START. BRAKES WOULDN'T EVEN COMPRESS. REPLACED BATTERY AND WORKED FOR A FEW WEEKS. SAME ISSUE CONTINUED. CABIN LIGHTS WOULD COME ON, NEW BATTERY BUT STILL NOT STARTING. HAD STARTER REPLACED AND WORKED FOR A WHILE AGAIN. SAME ISSUE AGAIN. GET STUCK IN RANDOM PLACES. SOME DAYS IT STARTS, OTHERS IT DOESN'T. CALLING FOR A JUM START DOESN'T WORK EITHER. UNRELIABLE AND UNSTABLE. CALLED DEALERSHIP, MOSSY NISSAN. THEY WANTS OVER $200 JUST FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND THEN COULD BE A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS. ALSO SAID BREAK HARNESS/SWITCH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. VDC LIGHTS ALSO COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THERE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS. NISSAN SHOULD HANDLE ALL REPAIR EXPENSES. CAR WAS STATIONARY AT ALL TIMES IT WOULDN'T START. THIS WEEK IS WOULDN'T START 3 TIMES. LAST WEEK IT WAS 5 TIMES. THE WHOLE MONTH WAS 17 TIMES OUT OF 31 DAYS. PLEASE RECALL.
TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AT 140,000. CAR IS LOSING POWER ON HIGHWAY PUTTING ME AND MY KIDS IN DANGER. CAR LOSING POWER GOING DOWN TO ZERO ON BUSY HIGHWAY.
THE PASSANGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS STAYING ON SHOWING THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF. TOOK TO NISSIAN AND THEY ARE TELLING ME ITS THE SENSOR AND THAT THE WHOLE SEAT HAS TO BE REPLACED. IM NOT SURE WHAT IS CAUSING THIS BUT NISSIAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I SEE THEY RECALLED 2013-2016, BUT I THINK THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS YEAR MODELS TOO. ITS THE SAME ISSUE THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE ONES THAT ARE RECALLED. IM SO FRUSTRATED. AIR BAGS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FIXED IMMEDIATLY AT NO COST! WE BUY A CAR TO FEEL SAFE WHEN WE ARE DRIVING NOT TO WORRY ABOUT OUR SAFETY
THE CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING HARD A FEW MONTHS AGO. THEN ABOUT A MONTH AGO THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND CAME TO A LIGHT. TURNED LEFT AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. I WAS NERVIOUS AND PUSHED THEN PUMPED THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. THEN OUT OF THE BLUE IT TOOK OFF WITH OUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATTER I WAS DRIVING 75 (SPEED LIMIT) WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON THEN THE CAR STARTED LOOSING POWER, 65,60 55. I ACCELERATED THE CAR AND IT JUST WOULD NOT GO FASTER. I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT WITH THE CRUISE AT 55. WITH FLASHERS ON COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. STARTED MY RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BY DOUBLING IT FROM 5 YEARS/60,000 TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES. MY ISSUE IS MY CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD WITH 128,000 MILES AND NISSAN HAS MY CAR IN THEIR SHOP AND WILL NOT FIX IT. I BELIEVE THE CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GET KILLED. I HAVE VERY SERVICE RECORD SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 12 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED.
MY DASHBOARD HAS MELTED AND IT CAUSES FOR THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD TO BUILD A FILM. ITS DIFFICULT TO CLEAN AND I HAVE TO CLEAN I AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. THE GLARE OFF THE MELTED DASH MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO SEE OUTSIDE. I HAVE INCLUDED SOME PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE.
TAKATA INFLATORS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HE SAID IT WAS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. HE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL. I JUST SEEN WERE NEWER MODELS HAVE RECALLS ON THEM. I WAS WONDERING WHY MY MODEL DOESN'T.
SUPPLEMENTAL AIR BAG SENSOR DID NOT WORK. HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHICH CONTAINED THE SENSOR FOR THE AIRBAG. NISSAN HAS RECALLED 2013 ALTIMAS TO CORRECT THIS EXACT PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY IT COST ME $800. TO CORRECT MY PROBLEM. I'M SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF AN EARLIER MODEL TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, A SECOND VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ITS REAR BUMPER WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO THE REAR OF A THIRD VEHICLE. THE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK, NECK, KNEE, AND HAND INJURIES. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, NECK, AND BACK INJURIES. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SUSTAINED HEAD AND KNEE INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. UPDATED 09/08/16*LJ *CN
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH DOWN THE STREET AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON MY DASH. I SEE THAT THERE WERE RECALLS FOR NEWER MODELS BUT NOT MY MODEL. CAN YOU TELL ME WHY?
DASHBOARD IS MELTING FROM THE HEAT AND SUN, HAS BECOME STICKY, UN-CLEANABLE AND CAUSING A TERRIBLE REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD BOTH DAY AND NIGHT. ISSUE APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE EVERY WEEK AS THIS CAR SITS OUTSIDE 24/7 NOT ALWAYS IN THE SHADE. I CALLED NISSAN OF AMERICAN AND THEY SETUP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT BY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP/SERVICE CENTER. THE END RESULT WAS A WASTED DAY AND I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY (80K MILES AND 5 YEARS OLD) THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. ESTIMATED REPLACEMENT COST OF $2000. A FEW MONTHS LATER MY AC CONDENSER COIL WAS DIAGNOSED BY NISSAN WITH A LEAK. NISSAN SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT $1500 TO REPLACE (AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT DUE TO THE CONDITION OF MY DASHBOARD THEY COULD NOT MAKE ANY GUARANTEE TO THE CONDITION OF THE DASH AFTER THE REPAIR AND RECOMMENDED DASH REPLACEMENT AS WELL BRING MY REPAIR TOTAL TO AND ESTIMATED $3500. WITH THE AC RECHARGED (BUT NOT FIXED) I BROUGHT THE CAR OVER TO CARMAX TO SEE WHAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME FOR THE CAR. THEY SAILD ALTHOUGH MOST ALTIMAS OF THIS MILEAGE AND CONDITION WOULD BE WORTH AT LEAST $6500-$7000 DUE TO THE DASHBOARD CONDITION (NEEDS REPLACEMENT ACCORDING TO THEIR PAPERWORK) THEY OFFERED ME $4500 FOR THE CAR.
THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT INDICATOR IS MALFUNCTION. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IS MALFUNCTION. IT AFFECTS THE FUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG THIS IS NOT A WEAR & TISSUE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE OF THE AIRBAG SENSOR. UPDATED 05/04/16*LJ UPDATED 05/16/16.*JB UPDATED 05/16/16.*JB UPDATED 06/14/16.*JB
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSED THE INDICATION LIGHT FLASHING. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTIC THE PROBLEM AND THE RESULT WAS TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT. SINCE IT WAS THE AIRBAG SENSOR MALFUNCTION, IT WILL AFFECT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG IF ACCIDENT HAPPENS. THIS IS NOT A WEAR & TEAR ISSUE. IT IS THE MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH A LATER MODEL OF NISSAN'S VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, NISSAN CORPORATION REFUSED TO REPLACE THE SEAT AT THEIR COST SINCE THIS PARTICULAR MODEL WAS NOT IN THEIR RECALL LIST.
MELTED DASHBOARD CAUSES TERRIBLE GLARE EARLIER THIS YEAR I CONTACTED NISSAN'S REGIONAL OFFICE TO EXPLAIN THAT MY CAR'S DASHBOARD HAS MELTED. THE MELTING OF THE DASHBOARD IS SO TERRIBLE IT CREATES A GLARE WHEN THE SUNLIGHT HITS IT. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED IMAGES. IN ADDITION, I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE MELTING OF THE DASHBOARD IS CREATING TOXIC AIR, WHICH I AM BREATHING IN EACH TIME I USE MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN SICK ALL YEAR AND CAN ONLY ATTRIBUTE THIS TO MY FAILED DASHBOARD. NISSAN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE DASHBOARD, BUT THEY WILL NOT INCUR THE CHARGES BECAUSE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NISSAN QUOTED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE $2,381.43, BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO PAY THIS CONSIDERING I AM A TEACHER AND HAVE TO TUTOR TO MAKE ENDS MEET. I HAVE DONE MUCH RESEARCH AND SEEN THAT MANY COSTUMERS FACE THE SAME PROBLEM I DO DATING BACK TO THE 2008 MODELS. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING. I HAVE CLEANED AND TAKEN CARE OF MY CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE CHANGES OR MORE IMPORTANTLY'PUT MY LIFE OR OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES IN DANGER BECAUSE I HAVE A HARD TIME SEEING THROUGH MY WINDSHIELD. PLEASE HELP THE COUNTLESS OTHERS AND MYSELF IN THIS SITUATION!!!
THE STEERING LOCK MECHANISM IS FAULTY AND WILL NOT LET THE CAR START. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHERE FAILURE OCCURRED. I'VE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PART BUT NEVER ISSUED A RECALL SO THAT IT COULD BE FIXED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY NISSAN. PEOPLE ARE BEING STRANDED BECAUSE THEIR CAR WILL NOT START BUT SEEMS NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM UNTIL THEY ARE STRANDED. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NISSAN HAS ADMITTED IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. I FOR ONE WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THINGS BREAK, AND PARTS FAIL, BUT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE IS VERY VERY COMMON ON 2009-2011 MODELS.
I've owned my Ultima for approximately 9 years the dashboard is melting and cracking causing poor visibility, glares, melting dashboard with cracks causing wires to be exposed to hot heat and sun.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2010 ALTIMA IS MELTING. I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THIS SAME PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN PROCESS FOR 2008 AND 2009 MODELS BUT HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING RELATED TO THE 2010 MODEL YEAR. BESIDES BEING UNSIGHTLY AND ANNOYING AS MANY PARTS OF THE DASHBOARD ARE SOFT AND PERMANENTLY STICKY IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS. IN CERTAIN LIGHTING CONDITIONS THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD REFLECTING OFF THE SHINY MELTING AREAS IS QUITE SIGNIFICANT INDICATED THIS OCCURRED ON 3/1/15 AS A DATE WAS REQUIRED. OBVIOUSLY THIS HAS DETERIORATED OVER TIME AND I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER.
MY CAR WAS ONLY 30,000 KM WHEN THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN. AS MY CAR WARMS UP MY ACCELERATION WILL DECREASE. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR A FEW YEARS AND HAS BEEN AVOIDING TO PUT A RECALL IN PLACE AND INSTEAD STARTED OFF WITH ONLY A EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING TO THEIR CVT PROBLEMS ON THE ALTIMA COUPE. I HAVE KNOWN A FEW SENIOR MECHANICS AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND BEEN TOLD THAT THEY ARE INVESTGATING ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY ALREADY KNOW IT'S A FAULTY PROBLEM AND THEY ARE TRYING TO AVOID. I HAD A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TRY TO SCARE ME AWAY WHEN I TRIED TO TALK ABOUT WARRANTY. JUST CAUSE I HAD A FEW MINOR MODIFICATION THEY SAID MY WARRANTY IS MOST LIKELY VOIDED BUT THEY ARE ABLE TO CHECK. THEY WERE RIDICULOUSLY TRYING TO CONVICE ME THAT WITH JUST AFTERMARKET WHEELS MY WARRANTY WILL VOID MY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I KNOW IN THE US THERE IS CURRENTLY A LAW THAT DOES NOT ALLOW CAR COMPANY TO VOID WARRANTY UNLESS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM DIRECTLY RELATE TO THE MODIFICATION. THE JUDGE MENTION AND STATED THAT CAR COMPANY OFFERS WARRANTY TO HELP PRODUCT CONSUMERS AND NOT SUPPOSE TO GET SCREW OVER FOR IT. THIS IS COMPLETELY ABSURD OF WHAT NISSAN IS DOING. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE CONCERN TO ME DUE TO SAFETY ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY ONLY AT 44,000 KM. A FEW ALTIMA COUPE OWNER HAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. O HAVE A FAULTY TRANSMISSION IS A VERY SERIOUS CONCERN DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING TO MY FAMILY AND I. A ALTIMA COUPE FORUM MEMBER RECENTLY HAD A FAULTY TRANNY AND WAS INVOLVED A HUGE ACCIDENT DUE TO UNEXPECTED DECREASE IN ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION.

WITHOUT WARNING, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

TAKATA INFLATORS: ONE OF MY VEHICLES (THE OTHER IS A 2013 FORD FUSION VIN [XXX]), WAS ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE TAKATA INFLATORS. I WAS INFORMED REPEATEDLY THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND I WOULD BE INFORMED WHEN THEY WERE IN STOCK. THE CONTACT OPENED A CASE WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE DASH ON THE CAR IS MELTED. THERE IS A STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL IN THE CAR THAT WE CANNOT GET RID OF AND WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS TO REMOVE A FILM THAT CAUSES A HORRIBLE GLARE IN THE DAY AND AT NIGHT. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT IN TEXAS BUT WE LIVE IN OKLAHOMA NOW. THE PROBLEM STARTED A FEW YEARS AGO BUT OVER TIME IT HAS JUST GOTTEN WORSE AND NOW THE DASH IS SO STICKY YOU CANNOT CLEAN IT OTHER THAN VACUUM THE BIG PIECES OFF.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,087.

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR HAS MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSED THE INDICATION LIGHT FLASHING. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTIC THE PROBLEM AND THE RESULT WAS TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT. SINCE IT WAS THE AIRBAG SENSOR MALFUNCTION, IT WILL AFFECT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG IF ACCIDENT HAPPENS. THIS IS NOT A WEAR & TEAR ISSUE. IT IS THE MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. I AM AWARE THAT LATER MODELS OF NISSAN'S VEHICLE HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, NISSAN CORPORATION REFUSED TO REPLACE THE SEAT AT THEIR COST SINCE THIS PARTICULAR MODEL WAS NOT IN THEIR RECALL LIST.
ALL FOUR OF DOOR LOCKS FAILED, WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK PLUS 1 WINDOW FAILED, WILL NOT LOWER.
AT THE DEALERSHIP LOT, THE CAR WAS STARTING FINE. AS SOON AS WE GOT HOME , THE CAR WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY, SOMETIMES IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AND ONE DAY MY WIFE WAS STRANDED AT A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT FOR HOURS BEFORE IT STARTED. SINCE IT'S BEEN PARKED AT HOME FOR A WHOLE WEEK AND HALF, THE CAR WON'T START AT ALL, THE BATTERY IS BRAND NEW AND I PURCHASED IT PRE-OWNED WITHOUT WARANTY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE'S ISSUES WITH THE INTELLIGENT KEY AND THE WHEELS LOCKING CONTROL SYSTEM. IN ORDER TO PAY FOR THE CAR, I HAVE TO GO TO WORK BUT THE CAR IS STOPPING ME TO MAKE IT TO WORK.
WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAY WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. I TESTED THE BATTERY WHICH IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (NISSAN LEGACY) WHO REPORTED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE SWITCH AND HARNESS WHICH NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE READY ONLINE THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE INCIDENTS WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THIS MAKE AND MODEL
ON AUGUST 17, 2015 I NOTICED THAT MY AIR BAG LIGHT WAS FLASHING IN MY 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE 3.5.. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO MY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A "SHORT' IN THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG MEANING THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF NEEDED. I CONTACTED NISSAN WITH MY CONCERN ABOUT THE SHORT BEING A DEFECT WITH ONLY 58,133 MILES ON THE CAR. AIRBAGS SHOULD NOT HAVE "SHORTS" IN THEM FOR DEPLOYMENT!!! AFTER 2 WEEKS THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR 1/2 OF THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG. THIS INDICATED TO ME THAT THEY REALIZED THERE WAS A DEFECT WITH THE AIRBAG. I FELT THAT THEY WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR MORE THAT JUST 1/2 HALF OF THE COST. THEY FELT DIFFERENT. I WAS LEFT WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO ACCEPT THEIR OFFER OR DRIVE WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG OR PAY THE FULL COST OF THE REPLACEMENT. THIS WAS THE 2ND PROBLEM I HAD WITH AN AIRBAG WITH THE CAR. THEY COVERED THE COST THE 1ST AIRBAG. CONSIDERING THE PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAGS IN NISSAN CARS, I FEEL THIS MIGHT BE ANOTHER PROBLEM FOR NISSAN THAT THEY DO NOT FULLY ACKNOWLEDGE. I AM CURIOUS IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
