THE ENGINE OF MY CAR DIE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY BACK HOME. THE CAR WOULD DIE AND JERK WHEN I WOULD SLOW DOWN TO A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, AND JERK WHEN FIRST ACCELERATING.
MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING IT HAS CAUSE I AS WELL AS MY FIANCE TO HAVE TO MISS WORK SOMETIMES BECAUSE OF THE CVT THE CAR SHAKES AND SHUTTERS AND CUTS OFF THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY FIANCE WHERE WE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND ENDED UP IN A BAD ACCIDENT.
DRIVING ON AN UPHILL STREET CAR WOULD NOT GO AND I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH HARD DOWN ON GAS I HAD MY SON IN THE BACK SEAT I THEN PULLED OVER TO SET CAR AT PARK AND TURNED OFF LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT FIVE MINS TURNED CAR BACK ON PUT IT ON REVERSE AND IT WENT FORWARD I SET IT PACK TO PARK GEAR AND THEN BACK TO REVERSE AND IT COMPLIED NOT THE FIRST TIME NOW IT'S JUST MORE COMMON AND THIS TIME IT FREAKED ME OUT IT WASN'T A LITTLE BURP AS THE OTHER TIMES HAD CAR FOR ONLY ABOUT 6 GOING ON 7 MONTHS AND I RESTRICTED L MYSELF FROM DRIVING MY OWN CAR THAT I JUST PURCHASED TO THEN BEING TOLD TRANSMISSION FAILING AND 8 RECALLS
REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS BROKE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO SIGNIFICANT CORROSION.
5 DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR MY CAR STARTED STUTTERING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AFTER COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR JERKED AND STALLED WHILE IN TRAFFIC. WHEN 5 MILES FROM HOME I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR ENGINE DIED. AFTER RESTARTING MY CAR WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO GEAR THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. WHILE IN THE LEFT LANE I SAT THERE TRYING TO GET MY CAR TO GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT THE ENGINE DYING. TWO GUYS HELPED TO MOVE IT OFF OF THE ROAD AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. IT'S NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE CENTER.
YESTERDAY MY PASSENGER, REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE AND I ALMOST LOST MY WHEEL. LUCKILY I WAS GOING LESS THAN 30 MPH. *JS
NO ACCIDENT OR ANY WORK, DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON. RESET NOT WORKING. AC COMPRESSOR ALSO GIVES UP. 150K.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY LOW AND THE CONTACT HAD TO ACTICATE THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT 30MPH WHEN I SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFETY THANK GOD. I GOT OUT AND THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE CONTROL ARM ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE HAD SNAPPED OFF DUE TO RUST.
I BOUGHT MY ALTIMA AT THE END OF 2013 I REALLY LIKED IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT BUT AS TIME HAS GONE ON MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE GOTTEN DIMMER THE HIGH BEAM WORKS BUT YOU CAN'T DRIVE WITH THEM ON BECAUSE YOU BLIND OTHER DRIVERS I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK MY LIGHTS AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM SO THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND CAME BACK AND TOLD ME THEY COULD FIX THE PROBLEM FOR 1150.00 DOLLARS I JUST LAUGHED AND SAID NO THANKS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THIS SHOULD REALLY BE A RECALL BY NISSAN
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A STRAIGHT FLAT STRETCH OF COUNTY ROAD TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. VEHICLE STARTED TO "SHIMMY" AND STEERING WHEEL RESPONSE BECAME SLUGGISH/ERRATIC, AND SKID CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS SLOWED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND TURNED INTO A GAS STATION LOT AND PARKED. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF THEN RESTARTED IN CASE SKID LAMP COULD RESET. VEHICLE WAS SLOWLY BACKED ABOUT A FOOT WHEN A LOUD "CLUNK" WAS HEARD. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND REAR TIRE ON DRIVER SIDE INSPECTED. AT FIRST, TIRE APPEARED TO BE COMING OFF ROTOR UNTIL CLOSER INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR CONTROL ARM SNAPPED AT THE WELD NEAR TO WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE FRAME. FLATBED TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE CAR IS AWAITING REPAIR. TOW TRUCK OPERATOR INDICATED THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE ON SAME MODEL CAR. RESEARCH ON INTERNET POST INCIDENT INDICATES SIMILAR MAKE/MODEL YEAR CARS HAVING SAME ISSUE.

VEHICLE SHIFTING INTO GEAR ERRATICALLY, COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK, VEHICLE TURNED OFF WITH NO WARNING NEARLY LEFT STRANDED, VEHICLE TOWED TO RESIDENCE, MANUFACTURER NOT CONTACTED, $2000 FOR REFURBISHED/REBUILT TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AT A LOW SPEED AND COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND STALLED. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO OR AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO FORWARD MOBILITY TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. "PIIR = Y". AH
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP GETTING DIMMER AND DIMMER. I HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS 3 TIMES NOW AND NOTHING IS WORKING. I CAN BARELY SEE A FOOT IN FRONT OF MY FRONT BUMPER. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND COMPLETELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON FOR ME TO SEE YET I KNOW I AM BLINDING OTHER DRIVERS WHICH RESULTS IN MORE DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS! PLEASE MAKE NISSAN RECALL THE HEADLIGHTS FOR REPLACEMENT. THIS IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS!!!
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM SEE WHY THE AIRBAG LIGHTS STAY ON. THE SEAT BELTS WERE ON AND THEY JUST STAYED ON. THE DRIVER SIDE WOULD SOMETIMES GO OFF BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE STAYED ON EVEN WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CLEARED AN ERROR CODE BUT NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL NOT REOCCUR AND THAT THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN I WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF MY POCKET FOR $1000 OR SO DOLLARS EVEN THOUGH I A EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT THAT SOMEHOW DOESN'T COVER. I FEEL AS THOUGH THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED THE FIRST TIME AND THEY DID THE BARE MINIMUM AND PASSED THE REST ON TO THE CUSTOMER. I AM HORRIFIED AT ALL THE STORIES I AM READING ON THE INTERNET WITH OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, I HAVE AROUND 40000 MILES ON MY CAR NOW SO YOU SEE I DON'T DO ALOT OF HARD TRAVELING BUT WANT TO KNOW MY VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
ON 14 MAY 2019, WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO A FAMILY MEMBER'S HOUSE ON LIVINGSTON ROAD IN ACCOKEEK, MD, MY HOOD POPPED OPEN AND OBSTRUCTED MY VIEW OF DRIVING. I HAD TO PULL OF THE ROAD TO PULL THE HOOD DOWN. IT WAS VERY FEARFUL. I COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS ISN'T THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME. IT ALSO HAPPENED IN AUGUST 2018 IN DOSWELL, VA. BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS WERE REPORTED TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY.
DIM LIGHTS TOO DIM EVEN AFTER REPLACING BULB
DRIVER AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT RD ABOUT TO TURN ON TO THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED SWAYING BACK AND FORTH AND DROPPED TO THE POINT WHERE THE TIRE WAS UNDER IT AND TURNED TO THE LEFT I HAD TO HAVE A FLATBED TOW IT TO MY HOUSE I WAS ON A MAIN RD IN AKRON . THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENTS AND IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF THANKFULLY I DIDNT GET HURT WHEN THIS HAPPEND. THE CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY SNAPPED THERE IS RUST BUT ISNT RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 13 NISSAN ALTIMA SOUTH ON HWY 218/27 SUDDENLY THE CAR WAS STALLING AND LUNGING AND WE LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING IN 4 LANE TRAFFIC ON MAY 13, 2019. WHILE TRYING TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR ANYTHING. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS WE WERE TRYING TO CROSS ON COMING TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE OR NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. WE COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A COLLISION DUE TO THE LUNGING AND STALLING OF THE TRANSMISSION. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER DEERY BROTHERS IN WEST BURLINGTON, IA AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THIS REPLACEMENT WILL COST $4,500. OUR ALTIMA HAS 85,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE HAS NISSANS CVT THAT HAS MALFUNCTIONED IS VARIOUS OTHER NISSAN MODELS. HOPEFULLY THIS SITUATION WILL BE REMEDIED BY A RECALL.
FRONT HEADLIGHTS ARE DIM AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE ON. IF RAINING YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING WITHIN 1-2 FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON THE CITY STREETS. NISSAN SAID IT WAS THE BULBS SO THEY REPLACED THEM AND THERE IS NO CHANGE IN BEING ABLE TO SEE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40,500 MILES WHEN IT WENT IN FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST.
THE GEAR SHIFTER STUCK IN PARK THIS IS MY 2ND SHIFTER WITHIN 2 YEARS, BEEN REPLACED BEFORE NOW IT MESSING UP AGAIN. I NEED HELP WITH THIS.
PURCHASED USED 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SL WITH APPROXIMATELY 65,606 MILES. JUNE 2016, AT 65,606 MILES, AUTO DEALER MECHANIC RESURFACED FRONT ROTORS AND REPLACED FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. AT APPROXIMATELY 65, 650 MILES BRAKES/ROTORS BEGAN TO THUMP. DEALER MECHANIC RESURFACED FRONT LEFT ROTOR. AT APPROXIMATELY 92,799 MILES, BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAL. SECOND MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIND PROBLEM. AT 96,052 MILES THIRD MECHANIC EXPERIENCED BRAKES SQUEALING AND RESURFACED ALL FOUR ROTORS. HOWEVER, BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAL AFTER RESURFACING. AT APPROXIMATELY 97,192 MILES, A FOURTH MECHANIC REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND FRONT AND BACK BRAKES. AT APPROXIMATELY 105,139 MILES BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAL. 5TH MECHANIC REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES.
RECENTLY I CAUGHT A FLAT AND PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER ON I95 TO PUT ON MY SPEAR TIRE AFTER I WAS FINISH AND GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND WAS PROCEEDING TO PULL OFF,I COULDN'T. TURNS OUT MY SHIFTER WAS STUCK IN PARK AND WOULD NOT MOVE. BEING STRANDED ON THE SHOULDER OF I95 WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME WAS A VERY FEARFUL MOMENT AND FEELING KNOWING THAT THE CARS AND TRUCK ZIPPING BYE CAN POSSIBLY HIT ME BY ACCIDENT WHILE I WAIT ON THE SHOULDER WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK. AFTER THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER CAME TO ME AND MY FAMILY'S RESCUE AND THE HE SHOWED ME HOW TO BYPASS THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE. AFTER EXPERIENCING SUCH A HORRIFIC ORDEAL I DECIDE TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM AND COME TO FIND OUT IT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE THAT MANY (2013-15) NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT LOCK MECHANISM THAT PREVENTS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER FROM COMING OUT OF PARK. THE SHIFTER REMAINS STUCK IN PARK POSITION AND WILL NOT SHIFT, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED FOR NISSAN NOT TO KNOW OF THE SERIOUS MATTER THAT QUALIFIES AS A LEGITIMATE RECALL. THERE IS A ELECTRIC INTERLOCK SOLENOID THAT WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED,IT UNLOCKS THE GEAR SHIFTER TO ALLOW NORMAL GEAR CHANGING OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE ONLY WAY TO DISENGAGE THE SHIFTER FROM PARK, ONE WOULD HAVE TO PRY OPEN THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE COVER WITH A SCREWDRIVER AND INSERT THE SCREWDRIVER IN THE RELEASE SLOT TO BE ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER. NISSAN KNOWS VERY WELL THAT THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT HASN'T DONE NOTHING. VIDEOS FOUND ONLINE SHOW DOITYOURSELFERS HOW TO HACK THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT PAYING THE NISSAN DEALERS $1,000 REPAIR COST.
PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2019 BY OWNER. WANT TO MAKE SURE IF IF IT HAS BEEN ANY RECALLS. FIXED BREAKS, STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ROTORS MAKING SOUND EVERY TIME I BREAK, SHOCKS AND STRUTS FROM REAR SIDE ARE NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. AIR BAG SYSTEM SAYS IT IS OFF
MY SUPPLEMENTAL AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON 7 - 10 DAYS AGO AND HAS REMAINED ON. VISITED NISSAN SERVICE ON 05/17 AND WAS TOLD DIAGNOSTIC TESTS REVEALED 3 CODES INDICATED FURTHER WORK WAS NEEDED. THE FIRST WAS TO REPLACE THE DIAGNOSTIC UNIT. SECOND REPLACE OCS MODULES 7 BOTH SENSORS. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH SUPPOSEDLY DOES NOT INCLUDE AIR BAGS. MY CONCERN IS TIS ACTUALLY IS OR SHOULD BE A RECALL. MY QUOTED PRICE TO FIX AIRBAGS/CODES IS GREATER THAN $1500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, A POPPING NOISE OCCURRED COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS BENT. THE CONTACT'S BROTHER-IN-LAW, WHO WAS A MECHANIC, INFORMED HER THAT THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE DETACHING. THE CONTACT CALLED HERB CHAMBERS NISSAN OF WESTBOROUGH (LOCATED AT 75 OTIS ST, WESTBOROUGH, MA 01581, (508) 870-0800) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; THEREFORE, IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY HEAD LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. I CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT AND I HAVE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS IF I DO. I HAVE HAD THE BULBS SWITCHED OUT AND I HAVE ALSO HAD HEADLIGHT RESTORATION DONE ON THE HEADLIGHTS. NOTHING HAS FIXED THE ISSUE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND IT NEEDS ATTENTION. NISSAN TOLD ME IT WOULD COST OVER $1600 TO GET NEW HEAD LIGHTS.
MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 2.5S HAS STARTED HAVING THIS ISSUE - OFTEN THE GEAR STICK WILL GET STUCK IN PARK MODE AND WON'T COME OUT. THIS HAPPENS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. SCREW DRIVER OR A SHARP ITEM NEEDS TO BE USED TO RELEASE THE SHIFT LOCK. THIS IS PAINFUL AND IT CAN OCCUR ANYTIME. I TOOK TO DEALER. DEALER SAID IT COULD COST MORE THAN 500$ TO FIX THE SHIFT LOCK. LOW BEAMS HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM. YOU CAN'T SEE AT NIGHT AND DURING THE RAIN IT'S EVEN WORSE. HAVE TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS. THIS IS A SAFETY MEETING ISSUE AND NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX IT.
THE LOW BEAMS ARE AT THE POINT WHERE IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE NOT ON. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS, DIDN'T HELP AT ALL. I ADJUSTED THE 2 DIFFERENT ADJUSTMENT PIECES, ONE IS UNDER THE HOOD AND THE OTHER IS BEHIND THE INNER FENDER. THAT DIDN'T CORRECT IT.I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE . I DID SEE ON A NISSAN FORM LISTED AS WWW.NISSANPROBLEMS.COM/ALTIMA-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS/ ,THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH WHAT IS CALLED THE 5TH GENERATION ALTIMA. WHICH IS CONSIDERED A 2013-2015. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN IT IS DARK OUT AND THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON TO SEE, WHETHER OR NOT YOUR MOVING OR STANDING STILL.

After OCS recall 16v-244. The system is malfunctioning again around 2019. The OCS light will stay off and the passenger seat belt light turn on as it register the seat as occupied and the only solution at that time was to click the seat belt in to simulate someone wearing the seat belt. No child can sit in the front due weight sensors not working. The safety of everyone is at risk at this point due to malfunctioning OCS. After several online research I found many Altima owners complaining about the problem but not able to afford the initial cost of checking the problem and the high cost of repairing the problem in the thousands, only Altima owner still under warranties are able to get relief and thus was not reported. Due to covid pandemic, I drive less and tried to stay away from dealerships as to do my own oil change, I was unable to solve the problem due to high cost they charge to fix it. I mention to them there was a recall recently and it should replace the ECU unit and provide similar fix free of charge. I am guessing the air bag still works as the air bag light is not on at this time. I tried contacting Nissan Customer service and was provided with a case #45568871, I was urged to contact NHTSA for further help with a campaign initiation. Thank you
THE CONTROL ARM ON MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA BROKE AT THE PIVOT POINT ON THE PASSENGERS REAR SIDE WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ABOUT 25 MPH LEAVING WORK WHEN I HEARD A THUD/CLUNK FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR OF THE CAR. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED AT THE CAR. I THOUGH I HAD A FLAT BECAUSE THE CAR HAD BEEN HANDLING 'ODDLY' FOR ABOUT 30 FEET. I DIDN'T SEE A FLAT, DROVE THE REMAINING MILE HOME AND WHEN I SAW THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE WAS AT AN ANGLE TO THE CAR. IT WAS POINTED TO THE RIGHT, WHILE THE OTHER TIRES WERE ALIGNED STRAIGHT FORWARD. I CALLED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AS THEY HAD ONE IN LAST WEEK WITH SIMILAR CONDITIONS (SAME YEAR, SAME MODEL) ROUGHLY SAME MILEAGE. THEY ARRANGED FOR A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND DRAG IT ONTO THE BED OF THE TRUCK. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM HAD FAILED, CAUSING THE TIRE TO DISCONNECT FROM THE CONTROL ARM WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I REQUESTED THAT THEY CHECK REMAINING CONTROL ARM SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE UNTIL WAS ALSO CRACKED, BUT NOT COMPLETELY BROKEN THROUGH AS YET. THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER REP VISITED THE DEALERSHIP AND STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WERE DUE TO RUST, CAUSING BOTH CONTROL ARMS TO FAIL, THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY IN PLACE. THE VEHICLE HAD FEWER THAN 89,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE COMPONENTS FAILED, THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF ANY PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY, AND THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP THREE WEEK'S PRIOR DUE TO A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THIS IS MY SIXTH AND LAST NISSAN VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NO PRIOR EVENTS LIKE THIS WITH MY OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES. THIS PART FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING, LUCKILY AT LOW SPEED IN MY OWN NEIGHBORHOOD 1 MILE FROM MY HOME.
I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS - IT'S A 6 YEAR OLD CAR WITH A SINGLE PREVIOUS OWNER, ALWAYS LIVED IN A GARAGE, WELL MAINTAINED, ETC. I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY ONE MORNING AND SUDDENLY MY STEERING WHEEL YANKED OUT OF MY HANDS, SWERVED TO THE RIGHT, AND LOCKED UP. I COULD BARELY KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE AND HAD TO DRIVE LIKE A VIDEO GAME, CONSTANTLY SHAKING THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. I TRIED TO MAKE IT ONE MORE EXIT, BUT COULDN'T SAFELY SO I PULLED OVER. ONLY HAD TO TEST DRIVE IT ~20 FEET BEFORE WE REALIZED THE DRIVERS REAR WHEEL NEARLY FELL OFF. WE LAID ON THE GROUND AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND SAW THE CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED AND BROKEN OFF DUE TO RUST. SURE ENOUGH IN THE SHOP, MY MECHANIC FOUND THAT BOTH SIDES HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED AND BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED TO SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR. THIS PROBLEM IS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE CONTROL ARM THAT ALLOWS WATER TO POOL ON TOP AND NOT DRAIN - THE WATER SITS ON THE CONTROL ARM IN A DIVET AND THE METAL RUSTS AWAY. FORTUNATELY, MY MECHANIC CLEVERLY FIXED THE PROBLEM ON THE REPLACEMENT CONTROL ARMS BY WELDING A PLATE ON TOP TO PREVENT WATER COLLECTION AND FUTURE RUST.
MY CALL STALLED WHEN I WAS STATIONARY, IN DRIVE, AT AN INTERSECTION. SINCE THEN WHENEVER I SHIFT INTO EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE THE CAR STALLS AND SHUTS OFF. THE CHECK ENGINE, CHECK BATTERY, AND GENERAL WARNING LIGHT ALL COME ON WHEN I EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE ON VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS REPORT THIS ISSUE. MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 HAS A LITTLE OVER 80,000 MILES ON IT. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR.
WHEN PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION, THE SHIFT GEAR WILL NOT MOVE.
THE VEHICLE HAS AROUND 57,500 MILES, WAS BOUGHT CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN 2016, AND HAS ONLY BEEN SERVICED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP SINCE PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE AFTER A STOPLIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT THIS LIGHT AND COULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 12 MPH AFTERWARDS REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. I TRIED STOPPING AND SHIFTING TO PARK THEN BACK TO DRIVE, YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND NO ALERTS POPULATED ON MY DASHBOARD SCREEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE, AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG ALTIMA OWNERS. THIS SEEMS TO RESULT FROM A DEFECTIVE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT), AND THE FAILURE TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HOPEFULLY, THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WHEN I AM ON A BUSY ROAD OR INTERSTATE AS THIS IS IMMENSELY DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY FATAL.
THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHTS ARE DIMINISHING IN THEIR ABILITY PROJECT LIGHT FORWARD OF THE CAR MAKING THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT EVEN WITH BRAND NEW WIRING BULBS. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND CHARGING OWNERS 700 HUNDRED DOLLARS AND MORE TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT. A RECALL NOTICE IS NEEDED TO MAKE THESE CARS SAFE AGAIN TO DRIVE IN NIGHT OR LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS. THANK YOU.

THE DIM LIGHTS ON THIS CAR ARE SO DIM THAT I CAN'T SEE GOOD ENOUGH TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I HAVE TO TURN ON THE BRIGHT LIGHTS TO SEE. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DIM LIGHTS AND THE BRIGHT LIGHTS ARE LIKE NIGHT AND DAY. IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PARKING LOT AND A GRASSY DITCH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO ME AND MY PASSENGERS AND ANYONE IN FRONT OF THE CAR THAT ARE NOT LIT-UP.
TRANSMISSION FAIL. MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA STARTED SHUDDERING AT ACCELERATION FOR FEW DAYS THEN SUDDENLY STARTED TO HESITATE AND GO INTO LIMP MODE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN PRESSING THE PEDAL OR IN REVERSE. THIS HAS CAUSED A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ITS POWER TO MOVE AS IF IT'S IN COMA. TWO MECHANIC SHOPS SAID THE CVT TRANSMISSION SYSTEM NEEDS REPLACEMENT. COSTS 3500$. CANNOT AFFORD IT OF COURSE AND THE CAR ITSELF NOW IS NOT WORTH THIS AMOUNT.

HEADLIGHTS HAVE BECOME VERY DIM TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITHOUT KEEPING THE HEADLIGHTS ON BRIGHT ALL THE TIME. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE BULBS (DEALER VERIFIED THAT EVEN INSTALLING HIGH-INTENSITY BULBS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE), BUT WITH THE HALOGEN PROJECTOR LENS. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY AT A DEALER COST OF $1,000 FOR THE PAIR. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE FOR THE 2013-2015 MODEL ALTIMAS, AND DUE TO THE DANGER POSED BY THIS DEFECT I BELIEVE A RECALL IS NECESSITATED.
WITHOUT WARNING...I WAS REVERSING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND I HEARD A LOUD POP. WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO TAKE A LOOK, MY REAR CONTROL ARM SNAPPED AND DISLOCATED THE WHEEL. I AM THANKFUL THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN TWENTY MINUTES BEFORE WHILE ON THE TACONIC STATE PARKWAY DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55 MPH). THE CAR NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR JUST STARTED TO LOSE POWER, IN A SPEED ZONE OF 60MPH MY CAR WAS QUICKLY DROPPING SPEED/POWER. NO CHECK ENGINE LIKE CAME ON, NOR HAD ANY SIGNS OF MY CAR NEEDING SERVICE CAME UP, NOTHING. WHEN I WOULD TRY SPEEDING UP IT STARTED TO MAKE A RATTLING NOISE, STILL LESS POWER. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY BECAUSE THERE WERE CARS COMING VERY FAST AND ONCE I PRESSED ON MY BRAKE TO MAKE THE STOP, MY CAR STALLED. IT WOULDN'T TURN ON ANYMORE AND I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR THERE. THIS WAS SERIOUSLY SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE, THIS HAPPENED AT NIGHT TIME WHEN I WAS TRAVELING. I'VE READ VERY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE YEAR AND MODEL OF MY CAR ONLINE ABOUT IT BEING A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I DON'T KNOW WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL IF IT'S SUCH A DANGEROUS ISSUE. MY CAR HAS JUST BEEN PARKED FOR 6 WEEKS BECAUSE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND IT'S DRIVING 'NORMAL', BUT I'M NOT TAKING THAT RISK AGAIN OF DRIVING IT.
