THIS IS TO REPORT AND COMPLAIN ABOUT RECALLS ON MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA RECALL: 16V-029 I TRAVELED TO MY LOCAL DEALER [KLINE NISSAN, MAPLEWOOD, MN] OVER A YEAR AGO FOR A SIMILAR RECALL FIX TO THE HOOD LATCH'. MY ONLINE RECORD STILL SHOWS IT IS NEEDED (NTB16-011; EXTERNAL RECALL NUMBER: PC426) I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF THE ABOVE RECALL UNTIL MONTHS AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE. I WENT AGAIN FOR THE ABOVE REF. RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART IN STOCK AND IT COULD BE "QUITE SOME TIME" AND WOULD CALL ME. IT HAS BEEN OVER TWO MONTH AND NO CONTACT. I JUST RECEIVED A SECOND MAILING ON THIS RECALL STATING THAT I HAD NOT TAKEN CARE OF IT. THIS IS A FRUSTRATING AND A TIME WASTING PROCESS. RECALL: PASSENGER A.B. (NTB16-052? R1609? NOT CLEAR FROM THE ONLINE DESCRIPTION WHAT THIS IS) I NOW SEE THAT MY PASSENGERS HAVE BEEN AT RISK OF AN INOPERABLE AIR BAG. I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED NOTICE THIS THIRD RECALL WHEN LOOKING UP THE OTHER TWO RECALLS ONLINE. THUS I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE BENEFIT OF THIS SAFETY FEATURE THAT I PAID FOR THREE YEARS AGO. BEYOND THE TIME AND COST OF TRAVELING TO/FROM AND WAITING FOR THESE ERRORS TO BE FIXED IS THE LENGTH OF TIME OUR MONEY HAS BEEN WASTED ON A FEATURE WE PAID FOR. THERE NEEDS TO BE MONETARY COMPENSATION FOR THESE SIGNIFICANT ERRORS AND PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO KEEP STATING "AT NO COST" BECAUSE THERE IS COST IN TIME AND MONEY TO CONSUMERS. THERE IS ALSO AN EMOTIONAL COST WHEN WE WERE AND ARE STILL AT RISK BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON WEDNESDAY MAY 25TH 2016. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR CUTOFF TWICE, AFTER THE CAR RESTARTED AND I PLACED IT IN DRIVE IT WOULD NOT DRIVE.
CAR STOPPED RESPONDING TO PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL - TOOK ITS TIME GETTING IN GEAR, BOTH FROM A COLD START, AND AFTER STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION. EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS MOVING, CAR WAS SLOW TO RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL. REPAIR SHOP DIAGNOSED IT AS A CVT FAILURE; WE'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AT 74,000 MILES.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR 1 YEAR AGO, AND IN THE PAST 2 DAYS (AT 86K MILES), IT HAS DIED AT A STOP A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES WHILE ON THE ROAD WHEN I CAME TO A STOP (3 TIMES IN 1/4 MILE, UPHILL - COULD NOT GET IT BACK INTO DRIVE, HAD 6 PEOPLE PUSH IT TO THE SIDE PARKING LOT). I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET IT STARTED TILL THE 6TH TRY IN THE PARKING LOT (HAD TO SWITCH TO NEUTRAL AND THEN TO DRIVE IN ORDER FOR IT TO NOT SHUT OFF). THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD DRIVING. I GOT THIS CAR BECAUSE IT HAD HIGH SAFETY RATINGS, WHAT A JOKE - WORST INVESTMENT OF MY LIFE!! I AM NOW $12K IN DEBT WITH A CAR THAT CAN'T EVEN GET ME FROM POINT A TO POINT B WITHOUT BREAKING DOWN.
WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL, HOOD FLEW UP WHILE CAR WAS GETTING UP TO SPEED ON 4 LANE EXPRESSWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. IT SMASHED AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD AND COMPLETELY BLINDED ME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SHOULDER. NO INJURIES. DAMAGE TO BODY OF CAR ONLY. NO ONE ELSE IN CAR. NO OTHER TRAFFIC NEARBY. I AM NOT THE OWNER, JUST THE DRIVER. VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE.
TAKATA RECALL - TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE OCS SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATED DUE TO THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT THE I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE OCS SENSORS IN ORDER FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS, TO WORK PROPERLY. DEALER SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND SAID THAT IT WOULD COST $300. LEFT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAD BEFORE, I WENT IN FOR THE SO CALLED SOFTWARE UPGRADE. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, CHANCES ARE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, WILL NOT BE DEPLOYED!! WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL??,
I PURCHASED MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA (44K MILES) IN MAY 2015. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE UNTIL I REACHED THE 50K MILE MARK IN JANUARY 2016. THE FIRST ISSUE STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD PUSH REALLY HARD DRIVING UP A HILL. THE NEXT ISSUE HAPPENED ON 5/2/16 WHEN I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN 'DRIVE' AND IT WENT FORWARD FOR A FEW SECONDS AND IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. TO BE CLEAR, IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY. EVERYTHING WORKED IN THE CAR EXCEPT ITS ABILITY TO ACTUALLY DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS FOR INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND A THING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE; NO ERROR CODES OR DRIVING ISSUES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS WITH THEM. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE BACK MY VEHICLE AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. HOWEVER, ON MAY 21, 2016, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN. I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BECAUSE IT SHUT OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET FOR 20 MINS BEFORE THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO DRIVE AGAIN. I'M ALMOST SURE THAT IT IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS AS IF I'M NOT THE ONLY NISSAN OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE CVT TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO "GO OUT" AT THE 50K MILE MARK. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE CAN SHUT OFF WHILE IN USE AND THERE IS NO CODE OR TRAIL AS TO WHY. THE MOST DANGEROUS PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS THAT THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE IT IS BEING ACTIVELY DRIVEN. I USE THE FREEWAY TWICE A WEEK AND THERE WOULD LIFE-THREATENING EFFECTS IF THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THAT TYPE OF TRAFFIC (65-75 MPH). I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND A CERTIFIED MECHANIC COULD NOT TELL YOU WHY. AS I PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, I'M SURE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE'S DRIVING CAPABILITIES ARE AFFECTED. THERE'S NO TELLING WHAT OTHER PARTS ARE BEING AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V029000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE DEALER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AND, WHEN THE CONTACT ARRIVED FOR THE REPAIR, THEY STATED THAT THE HOOD LATCH WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A TIME FRAME THAT THE PART MAY BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL PUMP RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE AND THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V468000 (SUSPENSION) AND 16V244000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V029000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) BY ROSEN NISSAN OF MADISON (2510 W BELTLINE HWY, MADISON, WI 53713, (608) 276-0335); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE HOOD LATCH WARNING INDICATOR WAS STILL ILLUMINATED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
ONE OF MY OEM MICHELIN PRIMACY MXV4 215/55 R17 TIRES DEVELOPED LARGE OPEN CRACK ABOUT 1-1/5 TO 2" LONG IN SIDEWALL. JUST HAPPENED TO NOTICE THE CRACK WHEN WASHING THE CAR. TIRE WAS REMOVED AND IT WASS DETERMINED THAT THE CRACK WENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SIDE WALL AND ONLY A THIN RUBBER MEMBRANE INSIDE THE TIRE WAS HOLDING IN THE AIR. A MAJOR BLOWOUT COULD HAVE OCCURRED AT ANY TIME. TIRES WERE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 43,000 MILES. THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, THE ENGINE CUT OFF AND RESTARTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE RECALLS REGARDING THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V244000 (AIR BAGS), 16V029000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), AND 15V116000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES)). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES WITH SEATED PASSENGERS. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO REPROGRAM THE AIRBAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE AIR BAG RECALL WAS PERFORMED THE FAILURE RECURRED. UPDATD 10/05/2017*JS
I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW YEAR 2013 IN 2014 I NOTICED A ROARING NOISE WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AT SLOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. AROUND CHRISTMAS EVE I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE CAR DIED OUT ON ME ON THE STREET. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DID THEIR DIAGNOSIS. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 5 DAYS, THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR WHICH THEY SAID HAD INTERNAL PROBLEMS AND ALSO REPROGRAM THE SYSTEM OF THE COMPUTER OF THE CAR AT 29,326 MILES WHICH IS ODD TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS A NEWER CAR. SO NOW ITS 2016 AND I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN TO THE DEALER TODAY BECAUSE IT SEEMED AS THE WINDOWS WOULD ROLL DOWN SLOW, THE CAR WOULDNT ACCELERATE RIGHT AWAY WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS (STALLING) AND IT WOULD SHAKE WHILE DRIVING OR AT A STOP, AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP IT WOULD JERK AS IF SOMEONE HIT MY REAR END. THEY DID THE DIAGNOSIS AND SAID THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION. SO I NOW BELIEVE THERE IS INTERNAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR WHICH IS PROBABLY GOING TO LEAD TO THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION TO GO ON ME. AND IT IS A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM BECAUSE I SHOULDNT OF HAD ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THESE FOR A 2013 NOW AT 46,000 MILES
MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE DETERIORATED TO A POINT NOW THAT DRIVING AT NIGHT IS DANGEROUS AS I CANNOT SEE BEYOND MY FOGLIGHTS (FIRST NOTED ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO). I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY, LIGHTBULBS AND HAVE CLEANED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY COVERS. NOTHING IMPROVES VISIBILITY. I SUSPECT THE ASSEMBLIES HAVE TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE COATING IN THE REFLECTOR HOUSING DETERIORATING DUE TO MANUFACTORING DEFECT AS HAS BEEN MENTIONED BY MANY OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKES SQUEAKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE RPMS FLUCTUATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN UNDER 40 MPH OR THE RPMS WOULD FLUCTUATE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED TRANSMISSION FUEL/ SERVICE SENSOR HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT THAN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,525. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. AFTER PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UPON INSPECTION, THE VEHICLE ERUPTED INTO FLAMES AND AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR WAS PRESENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 61,808.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, AN ABNORMAL ODOR EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND SMOKE CAME FROM THE HOOD. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE SERVICED FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE RECALLS AND WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY THE DEALER PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER OVER FIVE TIMES. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE REPAIRS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN TWO RECALLS THAT NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE DEALER WOULD NOT RELEASE THE VEHICLE TO THE CONTACT UNTIL THE PARTS AND THE REPAIRS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED AND WAS WAITING ON INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE DRIVING AT MERE 25 MPH, THE HOOD FLUNG OPEN AND RESTED PARALLEL TO THE WINDSHIELD. THIS UNNATURAL POSITION FOR THE HOOD AND THE PRESSURE IT EXERTED ON DRIVER/PASSENGER SIDE CORNERS OPENED THEM UP LIKE A CAN OPENER.
I OWN A 2013 ALTIMA SV PURCHASED BRAND NEW, APRIL 2013 AND I AM HAVING SERIOUS STEERING ISSUES WHEN DRIVING OVER 60-65MPH, CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS WANDERING ALL OVER THE ROAD, I CONSTANTLY FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO CORRECT THE STEERING, VERY UNSAFE FEELING AND WEARS YOU OUT, ONE COPLAINT I READ MENTIONED THAT ITS LIKE DRIVING ON ICE, GREAT ANALOGY UNFORTUNATELY IT REALLY DOES!! MY HUSBAND TRAVELS AND DRIVES A GREAT DEAL AS PART OF HIS JOB AND HE DRIVES EVERYWHERE, HE STATED THAT HE EVEN FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS IN THIS CAR ALSO AND HE DRIVES ALL KINDS OF CARS. I HAVE ACTUALLY STARTED TAKING ALTERNATE ROUTES TO AVOID DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT THESE HIGHER SPEEDS, WHICH IS COMPLETELY LUDICROUS, IT'S ONLY A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT AND PURCHASED BRAND NEW BY ME AND I SHOULD FEEL SAFE IN IT, AND AT THE HIGHER SPEEDS, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT!!! I HAVE READ LOTS OF REVIEWS AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS, SO OBVIOUSLY NISSAN HAS GOT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL FIND THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINTS...SO, WHEN IS SOMETHING GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.??? NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE SOMETHING VERY CLEARLY IS NOT RIGHT WITH THE STEERING AS EVIDENCED BY MANY COMPLAINTS,,WE CAN'T ALL BE MAKING THIS UP!!!! AT LOWER SPEEDS IT IS FINE, I DON'T HAVE THE PROBLEM UNTIL I HIT ABOUT 60-65 AND NO, I WILL NOT GET USED TO IT, AS NISSAN LIKES TO TELL THEIR CUSTOMERS! WE EVEN PUT BRAND NEW BRIDGESTONE TURANZA TIRES ON IT THINKING MAYBE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT IT IS STILL DOING IT.. BUT WHAT GOOD IS THAT WHEN IT STILL FEELS UNSAFE??? I USED TO LOVE MY NISSANS, I ALSO HAVE A 2001 MAXIMA BOUGHT BRAND NEW THAT MY SON NOW DRIVES , GREAT CAR AND NOW THIS ALTIMA, BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT BUY ANOTHER NISSAN IF THIS ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVED!!
MY AUTO DO NOT EVEN HAVE 70,000 MILES AND NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. $ 4,000 ??? REALLY???
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VENT CONTROLS FAILED TO FUNCTION WHEN USING THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HOT AIR BLEW OUT OF THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY MORE THAN ONE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE DEALER (AUTONATION NISSAN LAS VEGAS, 5800 W SAHARA AVE, LAS VEGAS, NV 89146, 702-886-2004) DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN. I START TO NOTICE THE LIGHTS GETTING DIM 2016-2018. MY HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT. I HAVE PUT MYSELF AND OTHERS IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACT NISSAN ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY ACT AS IF PUTTING PEOPLE IN DANGER IS NOT A ISSUE TO THEM. I HAVE REPLACED BULBS AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WORSE THAN BEFORE.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE DECREASED IN BRIGHTNESS AFTER APPROX CAR BEING 4-5 YEARS OLD & TODAY ARE PRACTICALLY NON EXISTENT. DEC 2019 I HAD TO HAVE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED WITH A HALOGEN SET OF LIGHTS BECAUSE NEW HEADLIGHT BULB DID NOTHING TO INCREASE VISIBILITY AT NIGHT. I'VE HAD TO RUN HEADLIGHTS ON LOW BEAM & FOG LIGHTS FOR A FEW YEARS TO HAVE VERY LOW VISIBILITY. AT THIS TIME THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VIRTUALLY NON EXISTENT EXCEPT WHEN RUNNING ON HIGH BEAMS WHICH IS CAUSING A GREAT DANGER TO ME, MY HUSBAND & OTHER DRIVERS ON ROAD. NISSAN HAS STATED THEY'RE INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE WITH THESE HEADLIGHTS & DENIES ANY RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO CAR BEING IN WARRANTY OR RECALL ISSUED.

MY ALMOST 14 YEAR OLD SON WHO IS 106 LBS. SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AS WELL AS A MALE FRIEND WHO IS 220. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS "OFF" WHEN IT SHOULD BE ENGAGED. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY RESET IT AND MY SON MAY NOT BE "HEAVY ENOUGH". I AM VERY UPSET AT HOW THEY HANDLED IT (THEY DIDN'T) AND I CAN GUARANTEE IF THERE IS AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENS AND THESE WERE DEFECTIVE, THERE WILL BE ISSUES. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT TO GO OFF. I AM NOT DOING THAT OR BUYING IT. I WAS TOLD THAT IF NISSAN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS SPECIFIC YEAR AND MODEL, THAT THE RECALL WITH NOT BE COVERED. IT IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE. SECONDLY, I MADE AN APPT 3 WEEKS IN ADVANCE FOR MY HOOD LATCH TO BE REPAIRED TO ALLOW FOR THE PART TO GET IT. I DROVE 1.25 HRS TO GET IT REPLACED, SAT THERE FOR 2 HOURS TO BE TOLD THAT THEY WERE PUTTING IN IT AND THEN "DID NOT HAVE IT IN". THEY HAD ME TAKE A RENTAL CAR HOME "TO HAVE A SUPERVISOR LOOK AT MY AIRBAG" AS IT WAS OVER THE WEEKEND. I GOT A DISGUSTING CAR FOR 5 DAYS TO FIND OUT NOTHING HAD BEEN REPAIRED. I "NEED TO STOP IN WHEN I AM IN TOWN SOMETIME" TO GET MY HOOD LATCH REPLACED. REALLY???? I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO BILLION NISSAN IN SIOUX CITY. POOR SERVICE. I HAD THE OCS SYSTEM RECALL FOR THE AIRBAGS. LAST YEAR THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT SEEN THE LIGHT ON THE DASH COME ON ANY LONGER. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS WORKING OR NOT WORKING AS IT IS NOT DOING WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT WITHIN 15YEARS I COULD BRING IT BACK TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT AND FIX AGAIN IF NEEDED, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO PAY 120$ DIAGNOSTIC FEE FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT EVEN THOUGH THE LETTER I HAVE SAYS IT WILL BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE.
THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE NISSAN RECALL REF. 16V-029 RELATED TO THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY. NISSAN SEEMS TO HAVE PUT IN PLACE A REPAIR PROCEDURE THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT IS ADVERTISED IN THE RECALL LETTER. THIS PROCEDURE IS EXCESSIVELY BURDENSOME, REQUIRING THE VEHICLE OWNER TO SCHEDULE A FIRST APPOINTMENT TO INSPECT THE CAR, THEN A SECOND APPOINTMENT TO PERFORM THE ACTUAL REPAIR. THE RECALL LETTER ADVERTISES A SINGLE APPOINTMENT IS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR, SO THIS PROCEDURE RUNS CONTRARY TO THE TEXT OF THE RECALL LETTER. DASHBOARD CLUSTER WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. LOST SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER AND ALL OTHER GAUGES ETC. CAR ONLY HAD 55,000 MILES ON IT. I TURNED MY CAR ON AND STARTED DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, ON MY WAY TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO FIX OTHER RECALLS, WHEN IT WENT OUT. I PULLED OVER, RESTARTED MY CAR AND STILL NOTHING. HAD TO EXIT CAR TO SEE IF LIGHTS/BLINKERS WERE WORKING AND THEY STILL WERE, BUT NO SIGN FROM INSIDE THAT THEY WERE. DROVE TO DEALER WITHOUT SPEEDOMETER ETC FOR AN APPOINTMENT AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. NISSAN NOT EVEN WILLING TO ADMIT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ABOUT A $878 REPAIR, WITH CAR JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY OR MAKE ANY REIMBURSEMENT OF ANY TYPE. CVT TRANSMISSION RECALL. AT 74000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION UNEXPECTEDLY WENT OUT. CALLED NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND A MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY ISSUE. HE STATED THAT IT IS UNFORTUNATELY VERY COMMON. CAR JUDDERS WHILE IN DRIVE. INITIALLY STARTED WHOLE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 3.5 SV ALTIMA (V6) AT AROUND 35-40 MPH, ON A CITY STREET, WITH MY WIFE SEATED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG 'OFF' LIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD WAS ILLUMINATED. I ASKED MY WIFE TO SHIFT A BIT WHILE BEING IN HER SEAT, WHICH SHE DID, BUT THE AIRBAG 'OFF' LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED THROUGHOUT THE JOURNEY OF ABOUT 15-20 MINS. THIS WAS DANGEROUS AND SOMEWHAT UNNERVING AS THE 'PASSENGER AIR BAG' WAS SHOWING AS 'OFF' INSPITE OF A PASSENGER BEING IN THE SEAT. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND FIXED.
DRIVING DOWN ROAD (PKW 55 MILES PER HR SPEED LIMIT), STARTED TO LOOSE POWER, RPM'S DROPPED, SLOWER TILL CAR WOULD NO LONGER GO FORWARD. STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. MANY REPORTS OF SAME PROBLEMS WITH THIS CVT TRANSMISSION ON INTERNET OF TRANSMISSION FAILING WITH NO WARNING. .
I WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING AND MOVING FORWARD. I THOUGHT I GOT REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME, SO I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. IT TURNS OUT THE CVT WAS HAVING ISSUES. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND STARTED DRIVING.THE CAR WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS DOWNSHIFTING WHILE DRIVING, ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS WITH THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY SAID THE CVT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE, I HEARD A NOISE BUT COULD NOT DISTINGUISH WHAT IT WAS OR WERE IT CAME FROM. THE NOISE EVENTUALLY GOT LOUDER AND AFTER APPLYING BRAKES IN TRAFFIC THE CAR STRUGGLED TO ENGAGE INTO DRIVE. I MADE IT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY TO A DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION, THE BRAKE CALIPER CAME OFF AND WAS GRINDING INTO THE WHEEL.
SHIFT HANDLE DOES NOT MOVE OUT OF PARKING UNLESS YOU PUSH DOWN ON THE SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON WITH A HARD STRAIGHT OBJECT LIKE A PEN OR ALLEN WRENCH.

FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, THE BRAKES STAY ON CAUSING THE CAR TO EITHER NOT MOVE, OR TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE GEAR SHIFTER CAN BE MOVED OUT OF PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. ALSO, THE CAR CAN BE STARTED WITHOUT HAVING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. SOMETIMES, THE OUTSIDE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON, SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. I REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND MANUALLY OPERATING THE SWITCH WOULD NOT MAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING, THE BRAKE SYSTEM WILL RELEASE AND VEHICLE ACCELERATES RAPIDLY, TO THE POINT OF LOSING CONTROL. SOMETIMES, A QUICK PUMP OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL RELEASE WHATEVER IS GOING ON-SOMETIMES NOTHING WILL CAUSE IT TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. REMOVING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WILL TURN OFF THE LIGHTS, BUT WILL NOT RESET THE PROBLEM. DEALER HAS NO SUGGESTIONS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, EXCEPT TO LET THEM KEEP THE CAR AND TO START REPLACING PARTS UNTIL THEY MAKE THE PROBLEM GO AWAY. NISSAN AMERICA SAYS NISSAN HAS ALREADY SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY TRYING TO RESOLVE PREVIOUS ISSUES ON THIS CAR AND WOULD NOT SPEND ANOTHER PENNY!!! PRIVATE MECHANIC THAT IS TRYING TO TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEM IS HAVING NO LUCK DETERMINING THE CAUSE. THERE ARE NISSAN TSB'S ABOUT SHORTED WIRING, BUT ONLY NISSAN TECHS CAN ACCES THOSE. CAR HAS BEEN IN SHOP 44 TIMES FOR 62 DAYS FOR VARIOUS MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT NISSAN CAN'T OR WON'T FIX COMPLETELY. NISSAN REFUSES TO TRY TO MAKE THE SITUATION RIGHT, EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMIT THE DOWN TIME IS EXORBITANT AND NOT IN LINES WITH THEIR COMPANY SATISFACTION GUARANTEE.
I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. THE YELLOW LIGHT ON THE THE DASH WILL SOMETIMES STAY ON, INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS DISABLED, EVEN WITH A 150 LB ADULT SITTING PROPERLY IN THE SEAT. IF I PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART, IT USUALLY GOES OUT. I HAVE REPORTED THIS NUMEROUS TIMES TO THE DEALER (I ALSO HAVE PICTURES OF THE LIGHT STAYING ON), BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THEY CAN, BUT CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE REPORTED THIS TWICE ON THIS SITE (NHTSA), BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN SOLVED. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT BOTH NISSAN AND NHTSA DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE, AS MANY, MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM ON THIS SITE DURING THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. WHEN SOMEONE GETS KILLED BECAUSE THEIR PASSENGER AIRBAG FAILS TO WORK, MAYBE SOMETHING WILL GET DONE.

LAST YEAR THERE WAS NHTSA RECALL 15V-681 WHICH RELATES TO THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS). THIS IS THE CONTROL UNIT THAT TURNS THE AIR BAG PROTECTION ON/OFF BASED ON THE SIZE OF THE PASSENGER... I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUES. SOME TIME LATER WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE MAN ABOUT IT, THEY SAY THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND WANT TO CHARGE ME TO CHECK AND FIX THE OCS. WHICH IS PART OF THE NHTSA RECALL 15V-681 WHAT IS MY RECOURSE? I HAVE TWO KIDS, A 16 AND A 20 YEARS OLD. THE AIR BAG WILL BE TURNED ON OR OFF ON EITHER OF THEM RANDOMLY. IT ALMOST SEEMS THAT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE DAY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR IS THAT THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER THE PEDAL HAS BEEN RELEASED AND THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN NORMALLY... AGAIN MY GUESS IS THAT IT SEEMS TO OCCURRED MORE WHEN IT IS COLD BUT IT IS INTERMITTENT. I HAVE TAKEN A VIDEO OF THE OCCURRENCE TO SHOW THE DEALER BUT THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT IT. I CANT SEND YOU THE VIDEO BECAUSE IT IS TOO BIG (MORE THAN 20MB) AND YOU ONLY ALLOWS A FILE NO BIGGER THAN 5 MB THE ISSUE IS STILL GOING ON BUT SINCE IT IS INTERMITTENT THE DATE BEFORE IS ONLY A REFERENCE
