THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V138000( AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I SPOKE TO 5 TOWN NISSAN WHO DID A SO CALLED THOROUGH CHECK ON MY CAR STATED THAT EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON. HOW CAN EVERYTHING BE PERFECT WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT GOING ON. ALL I SEE IS THAT THESE DEALERS SAY ITS GOOD AND CARS ARE IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION WHEN THEY ARE NOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER DID NOT WEIGH ENOUGH FOR THE AIR BAG SEAT SENSOR TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE CONTACT THEN RODE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED FOR A OCCUPANT WITH MORE BODY MASS. A SECOND APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER FIR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 300.
WHEN LOOKING IN REAR VIEW MIRROR AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS OF CARS BEHIND YOU REFLECT AND CAUSE LINES TO APPEAR ABOVE AND BELOW THE HEADLIGHTS OF CARS BEHIND YOU. VERY DISTRACTING AT NIGHT. I'M BEING TOLD IT IS A REFLECTION FROM THE DEFROSTER LINES AND THE TINTED WINDOW. *TR

TRANSMISSION SLIPPED I WAS AT A RED LIGHT TURNED GREEN STARTED TO MOVE WHEN I FELT A PULL BACK ON THE CAR AND THEN CAR SHOT FORWARD. *TR
THIS IS THE 4TH TIME I HAVE HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT THE INCONSISTENT AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE COME ON AND COME OFF. THEY HAVE CHANGED SENSORS AND TODAY TOLD ME THAT IF I SIT ON THE EDGE OF ONE SIDE OF THE SEAT THE SENSOR LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE AIRBAG WILL NOT BE ENGAGED. SOMETIMES IT LASTS A MINUTE (S) AND THIS WEEK IT LASTED 50 MINUTES WITH LIGHT ON GOING ON INTERSTATE 95. COMING HOME THE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THE NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 HAS MANY COMPLAINTS AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THE ABOVE FACTS WERE NORMAL AND HIS DOES IT ALSO AND HE HAS A 2012. SO...........I GUESS HE DOES NOT MIND DRIVING AROUND KNOWING THAT HIS LIFE IS IN JEOPARDY WITH THE LIGHT ON - HOWEVER, I DO BUT FEEL THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO CLUE ON HOW TO SOLVE THIS EVEN THOUGH MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN LODGED. FEW DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (09/23/12) THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD ALSO INDICATE THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS DISENGAGED WITH A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. TONIGHT (2/10/13) THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR ONCE AGAIN INDICATED NO PASSENGER WHEN MY 120 LB WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I TRIED IT WITH MYSELF (155LB) AND AGAIN IT OCCURRED. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
THE DAY I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (1/23/13) THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD ALSO INDICATE THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS DISENGAGED WITH A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP (ROSENTHAL NISSAN OF TYSONS) TOOK THE CAR IN BACK AND MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS. THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY WENT AWAY. TONIGHT (2/9/13) THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR ONCE AGAIN INDICATED NO PASSENGER WHEN MY 110 LB WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I TRIED IT WITH MYSELF (175LB) AND AGAIN IT OCCURRED. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
WELL I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE A BAD VIBRATION AND GRINDING NOISE BETWEEN 1,200 AND 1,800 RPM'S WORST AT 1,500. THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER WHAT SPEED. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THIS AND THEY TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL. I AM SORRY BUT WHEN A TRANSMISSION IS VIBRATING OR MAKING BAD NOISES LIKE THIS IT HAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS CONTRIBUTING TO MY VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE. ALSO WHILE FROM A STOP AND ACCELERATING I HAVE HAD MY CAR SURGE AND HAVE NO POWER WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND 2 OF THE TIMES I HAD A CAR COME UP ON ME FAST BECAUSE I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAN BE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
WELL THE MAIN SELLING POINT ON THIS VEHICLE IS THAT THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY WERE TOP IN MPG'S WITH 27 CITY AND 38 HIGHWAY. AFTER A WEEK OR SO I NOTICED THAT MY MPG AVERAGE IS NO MORE THAN 23.1. AND THAT WAS WITH MORE THAN 50% TRAVEL ON HIGHWAYS WITH NO TRAFFIC(NEVER WENT UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT). I FIGURED IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT BEING NEW AND IT WOULD AVERAGE OUT BETTER LATER. SO AFTER 5,000 MILES ON THE CAR I TOOK IT IN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS JUST BECAUSE EVERY DRIVER AVERAGES DIFFERENT AND I KEPT SAYING BUT I AM NOT EVEN GETTING CLOSE TO THE 27 CITY AND I DRIVE MORE HIGHWAY. BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND THEY RESET THE AVERAGE CALCULATOR. AFTER A WEEK IT WAS WORSE THAN IT WAS BEFORE AND I WAS BRINGING IT BACK FOR MY MANY OTHER PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH THIS CAR. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS AND FINALLY TOLD ME THAT WHILE THEY HAD IT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING THAT MY AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THEY REPLACED IT AND TOLD ME THAT WAS THE FIX. I HAVE PUT ABOUT A TANKS WORTH OF MILEAGE ON IT SINCE AND I AM GETTING UNDER 23 MPG STILL. EITHER SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG WITH MY CAR OR NISSAN IS LYING ABOUT THE MPG'S AND YES I GET THAT THEY ARE PRESENTED BY THE EPA BUT NISSAN DOES THE TEST FIRST THEN SENDS IT TO THE EPA AND THEN THE EPA TESTS LATER ON. EITHER WAY THE MPG'S ARE WRONG AND I DRIVE TO TRY TO GET THE BEST MPG'S I DON'T EVEN GO OVER 2,000 RPM'S UNLESS GOING UP HILL. WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE VIBRATION FROM THE TRANS. BUT THAT'S IN ANOTHER COMPLAINT. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I CHOSE THIS OVER THE HONDA ACCORD JUST FOR THE MPG'S. *TR
WAS DRIVING 45 MPH TO TAKE CHILD TO SCHOOL. WHILE AT LIGHT MADE SURE NO PARKING BRAKE ON. THEN PUT CAR IN PARK TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND ON TWICE AS BRAKING LIGHT STILL ON. KEPT VEHICLE OFF FOR APPROXIMALLY 1 MINUTE AND TURNED BACK ON. THE FOLLOWING DAY TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE WHICH THEY STATED BREAK FLUID NOT TOPPED OFF. SO ON 2/8/2013 DRIVING WITH 8 YR.OLD DAUGHTER SITTING IN FRONT SET. AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON THE SHOWING AIRBAG OFF BUT THEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF. PULLED OVER HAD MY DAUGHTER STAND UP, REMOVE BOOSTER SEAT AND THEN PUT BACK DOWN. AIRBAG LIGHT STILL REMAINED OFF. TURNED VEHICLE OFF 3 TIMES BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. MY HUSBAND CALLED DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS AND ADVISE TAKING IN FOR SERVICE AND PROBLEMS AFTER JUST PURCHASING VEHICLE ON 2/4/2013. ON THE WAY HOME BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T GO OFF. *TR

I AM WRITING TO YOU IN THE HOPE THAT SOMEONE WILL LOOK INTO MY COMPLAINT AND SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP OF THE NEW 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT TO DATE. THIS COMPLAINT CONCERNS THE NEWLY DESIGNED 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT WHEN DRIVEN HAS A CONSTANT, ANNOYING NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE MORSE CODE. THIS NOISE PROBLEM HAS APPARENTLY BEEN IDENTIFIED BY NISSAN AS COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP DUE TO OTHER OWNER?S COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE NOISE. NISSAN CLAIMS THIS IS A ?NORMAL NOISE? AND BOTH THE DEALER AND THE NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER ARE AWARE OF THE MULTIPLE OWNER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS NOISE, YET WILL OFFER NO CORRECTIVE SERVICE TO ELIMINATE THIS DISTURBING NOISE EMANATING FROM AN APPARENT DEFECTIVE POWER STEERING PUMP. 2013 ALTIMA DRIVERS NEED TO BE WARNED OF THE POSSIBLE DEFECT OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND TO BE ALERT AND REPORT ANY PROBLEMS IN STEERING WHILE DRIVING. AS AN OWNER OF A 2013 ALTIMA, I AM EXTREMELY DISTURBED ABOUT THE DEALER?S AND NISSAN?S RESPONSE TO MY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE POWER STEERING PUMP THAT IT IS JUST NORMAL NOISE. I HAVE OWNED 7 NEW CARS OVER MY LIFETIME, THE LAST 2 BEING 2009 ALTIMAS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A NOISE FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP. MY CAR AND WORK EXPERIENCE IS THAT UNUSUAL NOISE FROM A PUMP MEANS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE PUMP; AND USUALLY THE PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED BEFORE ITS TRAGIC FAILURE. NISSAN'S NON-RESPONSE TO FIX OR REPLACE THIS POWER STEERING PUMP IN THE 2013 ALTIMA IS UNCONSCIONABLE, AND SHOULD NOT BE CONDONED AS AN ACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICE REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THIS ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS DEFECTIVE OR NOT - BEFORE THERE ARE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THE PUMP FAILURE. *TR
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT AT TIMES PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT IS ON EVEN THOUGH A 130LB PERSON IS SITTING IN SEAT. AFTER 4 OCCURRENCES AND SEEING A RECALL FOR SENSOR ISSUES I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY CAR NOT PART OF RECALL AND THEY DID NOT FIND ANY COMPUTER CODES TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NO ACTIONS TAKEN. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT IS THE AIR BAG WORKING IF WE HAVE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKES AND LEAVING A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY COASTING INTO ANOTHER DRIVEWAY AND APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE SIT FOR A FEW HOURS, THE VEHICLE DROVE AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DEALER. AFTER INSPECTION, THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300. *TR...UPDATED 05/08/13 *BF
AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR WAS VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. THEN THE DEALER REPLACED THE MIRROR SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THEY FIXED THE VIBRATING PROBLEM. BUT NOW, THE MIRROR THEY REPLACED IT WITH SEEMS TO BE A GENERIC MIRROR, SEEMS LIKE A CONVEX MIRROR AND THE OBJECTS AND VIEW LOOK DEFORMED. IT ISN'T A FLAT MIRROR AND THE DEALER SAID THAT IS NORMAL AND ALL THE CARS HAVE THAT SAME MIRROR. THAT IS A LIE BECAUSE WHEN THEY CHANGED MY VERY FIRST MIRROR DUE TO VIBRATING, IT WAS FLAT AND CLEAR. THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED BUT NOW THEY REPLACED 2 SENSORS THAT ARE ON RECALL AND WAITING FOR A THIRD SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED AS WELL DUE TO RECALL. I AM SO TIRED OF GOING BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER THAT I AM FINALLY GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT, THIS CAR IS A LEMON! (2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SV -PEARL WHITE). *TR
DRIVER' SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEALERS TO REPLACE THE MIRROR AND MIRROR HOUSING AND PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. MIRROR CONTINUES TO VIBRATE. ALSO, I GOT SEVERAL LETTERS OF RECALLS ON THIS CAR, SUCH AS THE SENSORS ON THE AIRBAGS AND THE SPARE TIRE BEING OVER-INFLATED. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS TURNED ON TWICE AND DOES NOT TURN OFF, EVEN WHILE DRIVING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AT ALL, THIS CAR IS A LEMON. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW (NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 - 3.5SL) AND FOUND OUT AFTER 2 DAYS THAT THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG LIGHT WAS WORKING IN A SPORADIC MANNER. MY WIFE WEIGHS 112 LBS. AND THE SENSOR WILL NOT WORK TO PROTECT HER TO INFLATE - AS THE LIGHT INDICATES THE AIRBAG IS OFF. I SAT IN THE SEAT AT 160 LBS. AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THEN CAME BACK ON. THE DEALER SAID IT HAD NO SOLUTION THAT I HAD TO DRIVE IT THAT WAY. THE SEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWED A HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE NISSAN FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS NOTICE OF COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS DEFECT THAT IS LIFE THREATENTING AND WHY THE NHTSA HAS NOT STEPPED IN TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER. *TR
AFTER THE FIRST CAR WITH 2000MILES AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF IN THE ACCIDENT SO WENT BOUGHT ANOTHER NEW ONE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON IN 70 MILES SO PUT A NEW SEAT FROM ANOTHER CAR NISSAN DID NOT HAVE A NEW SEAT NO THE AIR BAG LIGHT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AND THE CAR HAS A VIBERATION THAT NISSAN CANT FIX NEED TO STOP SELLING LEMONS. *TR
ON AT LEAST THREE OCCASIONS THE AIR BAG INDICATOR HAS INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. IN ALL OF THESE CASES AN ADULT HAS OCCUPIED THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS ISSUE IS NOT CONSISTENT. IN ONE CASE WHEN IT DID NOT DEPLOY I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN AND IT APPEARS TO WORK CORRECTLY. AT THIS TIME I DO NOT KNOW IF THE AIRBAG IS ENGAGED OR NOT. I CONSIDER THIS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FROM THE VERY BEGINNING THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON, NO MATTER THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER. IT DOES IT AT RANDOM TIMES. I HAVE HAD IT IN 6 TIMES, PLUS HAD THE RECALL DONE LAST YEAR. I JUST TOOK IT IN AFTER SPEAKING WITH NISSAN USA AND THEY CAN NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE PICTURES SHOWING IT NOT WORKING. THE REPROGRAMMED THE SEAT AND HOPE THAT FIXES IT. TOO BAD IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE REPROGRAMMED IT. THE SEAT BELT LIGHT COMES ON AFTER SOMEONE GETS OUT OF THE CAR AND STAYS ON LIKE THE SEAT IS TELLING IT THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE CAR. NISSAN HAS BEEN NO HELP ON FIXING THIS. I DID ADVISE THEM IF I WAS TO GET IN A WRECK AND IT NOT DEPLOY THEY WILL HAVE A LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS. THE TOPPER I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW, I HAD $500 NEGATIVE EQUITY. I HAVE NEVER SKIPPED A PAYMENT, MAKE EXTRA PAYMENTS AND HAVE A LOW INTEREST RATE. I AM ALMOST $7000 UPSIDE DOWN ON A 2 YR OLD CAR. I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON INDICATING THE AIR BAG DID NOT TURN ON.THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ABOUT 5% OF THE TIME. PROBLEM HAS BEEN WORKED ON 12-15 TIMES.NISSAN SAYS THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND WORK WAS PERFORMED ON 10-16-14. IT DID NOT HELP!! I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR ALL OF A WEEK. THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS. THE FIRST IS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THE LIGHT ON THE DASH INDICATES THAT THE AIR BAG IS "OFF" WHEN MY WIFE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEATS. SHE IS AN ADULT, HEIGHT ABOUT 5' 2" AND WEIGHS APPROX. 120 LBS. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. CALLS TO NISSAN ARE A WASTE OF TIME AT THIS POINT AS I'M TOLD NOTHING ABOUT HOW THIS WILL BE RESOLVED. THE OTHER ISSUE IS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION, AT ABOUT 1200-1500 RPM THERE IS A VIBRATION AND ITS VERY NOISY. IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO DIE OUT. THE OTHER ISSUES I AM HAVING WITH THE CAR OF WHICH THERE ARE A FEW ARE NOT NECESSARILY SAFETY RELATED SO I WONT POST THEM HERE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THERE ARE BETTER AND SAFER CHOICES OUT THERE. DASHBOARD IS GETTING EXCESSIVELY STICKY.
PURCHASED BRAND NEW WITH 2 MILES. AT 4500 MILES, HEAT GAUGE INDICATED AN INCREASE IN ENGINE TEMPERATURE. DROVE 2 MILES TO A SERVICE STATION, AND UPON OPENING THE HOOD, ANTI-FREEZE WAS SPRAYED EVERYWHERE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER INSPECTED, AND SAID THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED, SO THE DEALER REPLACED THE RADIATOR. AFTER REPLACEMENT, THE DEALER PERFORMED A TEST DRIVE, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER PERFORMED PRESSURE TESTS, AND SAID THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON MEANING THAT THE AIRBAG IS NOT ACTIVATING NO MATTER WHO IS SITTING ON THE SEAT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ONE WEEK AFTER WE PURCHASED IT AND THEY "SUPPOSEDLY" RESET THE SENSOR. WE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED IMMEDIATELY. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER A WEEK LATER AND A NISSAN ENGINEER WAS THERE THAT DAY AND HE LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. A PERSON'S LIFE COULD BE LOST BECAUSE OF THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. NISSAN SHOULD SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO THIS AND RECALL THE CARS BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS TO ANY OF US WHO PURCHASED THIS CAR. WE CAN'T BELIEVE THAT KNOWING THAT THERE IS THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM, THEY WILL NOT EVEN TRY TO FIX IT. IT SHOWS LACK OF CONCERN AND RESPONSIBILITY ON THEIR PART FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. IN ADDITION, THERE WERE VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAIURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATES OFF WITH OCCUPANT IN SEAT.- RETURNED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR ON JAN,21, APR 4, MAY 14 AND JUNE 4. DEALER REPLACED OCCUPANT SENSORS ON APRIL 4,2013. PROBLEM WAS NOT RECTIFIED, THEY CLAIM THERE IS NO DEFECT. FILED COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THEY CLAIM THEY COULD ONLY GO BY WHAT DEALER STATES. I FIRST NOTICED IT DRIVING THE CAR HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I FELT AS THOUGH THE FRONT TIRES WERE MOVING IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS AT THE SAME TIME AND THERE IS A METALLIC SOUND IN THE FRONT END (CAN ONLY HEAR WHEN YOUR NEXT TO BARRIERS OR BRIDGES ON THE HIGHWAY). LAST YEAR 2017 IN JULY THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND TAKEN STERLING MCCALL NISSAN HOUSTON, TX AND THEY SAID CODE READ SENSOR AND THE DRIVER BACK SEAT MODULE NEED TO REPLACE WHOLE UNIT AND NOT COVERED AND SO I GOT INTO MY CAR THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND NEVER CAME BACK ON UNTIL NOW ON JUN 23 2018 WHEN I STARTED MY CAR UP IN MY GARAGE. TOOK THE CAR IN TO NISSAN AS I WAS ALERTED TO A RECALL. I WAS TOLD MY SENSOR DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED, JUST REPROGRAMMED. THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. THE PASSENGER IS OVER 150 POUNDS. THE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN OPERATIONAL, THE LIGHT ALWAYS GOES OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THE PASSENGER IS USUALLY READING, SO THEY ARE SITTING STILL. WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON, NISSAN INDICATES THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT WORK IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR BACK TO NISSAN 4 TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. SINCE THE COMPUTER INDICATES NO ERRORS, NOTHING GETS FIXED. WHEN I LEAVE THE DEALER, THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON WHY NOTHING GETS FIXED AND I AM ALSO TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 5 MONTHS AND BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS THAT NISSAN CANNOT RESOLVE. THE NOISE I HAVE BEEN HEARING SOUNDS LIKE SMALL ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND AT OTHER TIMES I HEAR A CRACKING NOISE. SO HERE RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75MPH AND HEAR SOMETHING FLAPPING ON THE WINDSHIELD AND NOTICE THAT IT IS THE RUBBER SEAL THAT GOES AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. SO I PULL OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND REATTACH THE SEAL. THE CAR IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD AND NOTHING SHOULD BE COMING OFF LIKE THAT. ALSO MY CAR HAS BLACK INTERIOR AND IT TENDS I BE MUCH HOTTER ON INSIDE ESPECIALLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. ONE DAY I LEFT MY CAR PARKED IN THE DIRECT SUNLIGHT AND GOT IT AND THE INTERIOR WAS PRETTY WARM AND I WAS GOING TO PLUG MY PHONE IN AND THE A/C OUTLET INSIDE THE CUBBY UNDER THE RADIO AND AS SOON AS I TRIED TO LIFT THE OUTLET COVER IT CRACKED AND BROKE OFF. THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT PASSENGER AIRBAG DETECTION ISSUE WITH 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SV. THERE WERE IN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN A FULL GROWN PERSON(WEIGHT > 150LBS) SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHILE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN, 'PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF' INDICATOR WOULD TURN ON, INDICATING THAT CAR IS NOT DETECTING ANYONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND IN RESULT AIRBAGS WERE TURNED OFF. THIS WARNING INDICATION STAYED ON THROUGHOUT OUR DRIVE AND SOMETIMES TURNED OFF AFTER 10-15 MINUTES OF DRIVE AND IN OTHER OCCASIONS IT DIDN'T TURN OFF AT ALL UNTIL CAR WAS TURNED OFF. IF THIS WAS JUST A FEATURE ISSUE THEN MUCH LOWER PRIORITY SHOULD BEEN ASSIGNED BUT IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE/CONCERN AND I REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION. THEY HAVE SUGGESTED THAT IT MIGHT BE CAUSED BY INSUFFICIENT WEIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO TELL ME WHAT IS THE MINIMUM WEIGHT REQUIREMENT.
