THE FIRST SIX WEEKS WE HAD THE CAR IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THAN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT OCCASIONALLY WOULD COME ON WITH MY 120 LB WIFE IN THE SEAT. NOW IT WILL COME ON ALL OF THE TIME. IF YOU START THE CAR BEFORE SHE GETS IN THE LIGHT USUALLY STAYS OFF AFTER SHE GETS IN BUT NOT ALWAYS. WITH A 50 LB PERSON IN THE SEAT THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON, THAT IS WHEN I THINK IT SHOULD COME ON. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED WHILE THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED WITH PASSENGER INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG IS DEACTIVATED. BOTH REQUIREMENT (WEIGHT LIMIT AND SETTING CORRECTLY) BY THE MANUFACTURE IS MEET. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND HAD NISSAN SEND A TECH FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO CHECK IT OUT. ALL THE TELL ME IS THERE IS NO CODES STORE IN THE SYSTEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH NO ANSWERS FROM NISSAN. THEY DANCE AROUND WHEN I ASK QUESTION AND TURN IT INTO USER ERROR, WHERE IN FACT REQUIREMENT (WEIGHT LIMIT AND SETTING CORRECTLY) BY THE MANUFACTURE IS MEET. 1800-343-6913 EXT. [XXX] CASE # [XXX]. BROUGHT CAR IN TO DEALER FOR A RECALL THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDED LOUDER AND RATTLED ON ACCELERATION. PROCEEDED TO GET WORSE BY THE DAY. BROUGHT TO DEALER ON WEDNESDAY AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES ON IT. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN INDIVIDUALS SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE AIRBAG SENSOR SHOWS THE AIRBAG NON-OPERATIONAL EVEN WHEN INDIVIDUALS OF APPROPRIATE SIZE AND WEIGHT ARE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. NISSAN HAS NO KNOWN FIXES FOR THE SITUATION AND STATE THAT ITS A "BREAK IN" PERIOD. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR PURCHASED ONE WEEK AGO. SERIOUS INJURY COULD RESULT FROM AN NON-OPERATIONAL AIRBAG AND I AM NOT WILLING TO WAIT FOR THE BREAK IN PERIOD.

WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE STARTER WOULD KEEP CRANKING AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE START BUTTON, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT ALSO THE REAR SEAT BELTS ARE VERY HARD TO LOCK IN DO TO THE RECEIVER END PUSHES DOWN INTO THE SEAT WHEN DRIVING THERE IS A FEW PROBLEMS THE LOW END RATTLES AND SHAKES AND 45 AND ABOVE THERE IS A WINING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD ALT BEARING OR TRANS PROBLEM IT GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU GO VERY ANNOYING WITH TODAY TECHNOLOGY THESE PROBLEMS AND THIS IS JUST A FEW IS A BIG STEP BACK FOR NISSAN NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER JUST BROKE 6000 MILES. *TR
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON SPORADICALLY, WHETHER A 150 POUND ADULT IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. ISSUE WAS FIRST NOTICED MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO OUR VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY AND THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE RECALIBRATED. THE PROBLEM RECURRED CONSISTENTLY OVER THE LAST YEAR WITH SERVICE DEPARTMENT MECHANICS REPEATEDLY PERFORMING THE SAME "FIX" THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD GIVEN THEM FOR THE ISSUE. ONCE THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED AND WE GOT OUR CAR IN TO THE GARAGE, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE SAME "FIX" WOULD BE PERFORMED. AS EXPECTED, THE ISSUE WAS SEEN ONCE AGAIN 3 DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD RECEIVED THE RECALL WORK. *TR
CONSISTENT WITH NHTSA 10109214,,WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ADD GASOLINE TO THE VEHICLE, THE GAS STATION'S GAS PUMP'S FILLING NOZZLE KICKS OFF IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUOUSLY.. IN ORDER TO ADD FUEL, I MUST PLACE THE NOZZLE NO FURTHER INSIDE THAN THE EDGE OF THE FUEL TANK TUBE AND THEN ONLY SLIGHTLY SQUEEZE THE GAS PUMP'S NOZZLE.HANDLE SO THAT ONLY A LIGHT STREAM OF FUEL SLOWLY RUNS THROUGH THE GAS PUMP'S NOZZLE.. IT TAKES ME 12-15 MINUTES TO FILL MY TANK. THIS IS UNSAFE BECAUSE I CANNOT INSERT THE GAS PUMP'S NOZZLE ANY FURTHER THAN THE EDGE OF THE OPENING TO THE FUEL TANK TUBE AND SO IT IS COMMON FOR GASOLINE TO SPLASH OUT ON MY HAND, BODY, CLOTHING, CAR AND OTHER SURROUNDINGS. BECAUSE FUELING REQUIRES THAT I MAINTAIN MY HAND ON THE PUMP'S NOZZLE HANDLE AND THE PROCESS TAKES SO LONG, I AM SUBJECT TO GASOLINE SPLASHES AND INHALING GASOLINE FUMES FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME. THE SPLASHING OF GASOLINE ON THE SURROUNDING SURFACES AT THE GAS STATION POSES A FIRE RISK AT THE GAS STATION, ITS CUSTOMERSI AND ME. IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE OR SPARK, I COULD CATCH ON FIRE.DUE TO THE SPLASHING ON MY SKIN, AND CLOTHING. BECAUSE THE NOZZLE CAN ONLY BE PLACED TO THE EDGE OF THE OPENING TO THE FUEL TANK TUBE, A SPARK COULD BE ATTRACTED TO THE EXCESSIVE ACCESS TO FUEL.. AS A RULE, PEOPLE WAITING IN LINE BEHIND ME TO FUEL UP BECOME INPATTIENT AND ENRAGED DUE TO THE DELAY. IN TODAY'S WORLD, IF THE WRONG PERSON IS WAITING BEHIND ME, I ALMOST JOKINGLY ADD THAT THIS VEHICLE'S DEFECT COULD LEAD TO A MASS SHOOTING AT THE GAS STATION. YOU MAY DISREGARD THAT LAST COMMENT.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 01/03/2020 WHILE NIGHT FALL CAME I TURNED MY HEADLIGHTS ON I COULD NOT TELL IF THEY WHERE ON IT WAS STILL DARK PULLED OVER AND THEY WHERE ON , I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON SO I COULD SEE THE ROAD AND ANY PEDESTRIANS, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS , IT POSES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR NIGHTTIME DRIVING AND PEOPLE HAVE GONE OFF THE ROAD , NISSAN NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WAY THE LIGHTING WAS MADE ON THIS VEHICLE, OWNERS SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR THE COST OF CHANGING THE HOUSING UNIT ON THIS VEHICLE, I AM EXTREMELY SCARED TO DRIVE AT NIGHT DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD , I DON'T WANT TO HURT ANYONE OR KILL MYSELF BY NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE
AIR BAG LIGHT TO INDICATE AIRBAGS ARE OF COMES ON WHEN I HAVE AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. CAN TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE LIGHT MAY STAY OFF - VERY INCONSISTENT. SAME PASSENGER RIDES IN A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA FRONT SEAT WITH NO ISSUES. HAS HAPPENED WITH 2 DIFFERENT PASSENGERS AND NEITHER HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. BOTH ARE ADULTS WEIGHING APPROXIMATELY 100 POUNDS. TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE - NO RESOLUTION. DEALER SAYS WORKING AS EXPECTED. *TR
THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2013 ALTIMA SV WITH 2.5 ENGINE, DO NOT THROW LIGHT DOWN THE ROAD FAR ENOUGH. I NOW REFUSE TO DRIVE THE CAR AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS AT NIGHT...OR WHEN THERE IS FOG OR HEAVY RAIN. I TESTED MY OBSERVATION BY PARKING MY 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY BESIDE THE NISSAN ALTIMA AND TURNING BOTH LIGHTS ON LOW BEAM. THE ALTIMA'S THROW IS DRAMATICALLY LESS THAN THE ALTIMA'S. I FEEL QUITE SAFE DRIVING THE CAMRY AT NIGHT AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. MY SERVICE WRITER AND SERVICE MANAGER AND ORIGINAL SALES PERSON HAVE REPEATEDLY ALREADY EXPLAINED THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I REJECT THE STATEMENTS OF ALL WHO REPRESENT NISSAN. *TR
WITH A FULL-SIZE ADULT SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED (WHICH INDICATES THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS NOT ENGAGED). THIS HAPPENED EVERY SINGLE TIME I'VE OPERATED MY VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT ON DECEMBER 28TH, NO MATTER THE SIZE OF THE ADULT SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT - ANYWHERE FROM 130 LB. INDIVIDUAL TO 220 LB. INDIVIDUAL. FOR REFERENCE, MY FRIEND HAS A ROGUE AND THE AIRBAG ENGAGES (I.E. LIGHT GOES OFF) WITH JUST HER HANDBAG IN THE SEAT. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SINCE THE CAR IS FULLY COVERED BY WARRANTY. THEY ORDERED A NEW SENSOR FROM NISSAN AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THE NEW SENSOR. THEY HAVE HAD MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE (500 MILES) FOR 6 DAYS. 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A VERY ANNOYING WHINING/WHISTLING NOISE. DEALER SAID THEY HEARD NOISE AND CHECKED OTHER CARS ON LOT AND THEY HAD SAME NOISE, THIS IS NORMAL. I'VE SEEN OTHERS COMPLAINING OF NOISE AND SOME SEEM TO BE GETTING RESOLUTION. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER AND COMPLAINED AGAIN. TOLD ONCE AGAIN THIS IS NORMAL. NOISE IS VERY ANNOYING AND FOR THE MONEY SPENT ON NEW CAR EXPECT BETTER RESULTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. THIS HAPPENS PERIODICALLY AND NOT ALL THE TIME. WE HAD TAKEN IT BACK TO NISSAN THREE DIFFERENT TIMES FOR REPAIR AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. THE MOST RECENT EVENT WAS YESTERDAY MARCH 22, 2015. UPDATED 5/11/15*CN
SINCE I PURCHASED MY ALTIMA IN 12/2012, 90% OF THE TIME THE "PASS" PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN MY WIFE IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE HAD THE ALTIMA IN FOR REPAIRS ON THIS ABOUT 5 TIMES AT TAMAROFF NISSAN IN SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN, INCLUDING WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL. I'VE HAD IT LOOKED AT TWICE AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. TAMAROFF HAS RELOADED SOFTWARE AND CHECKED THE SENSORS WITH NO LUCK. THEY FINALLY INDICATED THAT SINCE MY WIFE WEIGHS AROUND 110 POUNDS, SHE IS ON THE CUSP OF WHAT THE SENSOR WILL REACT TO. JOKINGLY, THEY INDICATED THAT IF SHE WOULD CARRY SOMETHING HEAVY IN HER LAP, SUCH AS A BOWLING BALL, THE PASS AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD NOT BE ACTIVATED. MY PREVIOUS ALTIMA NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FIVE TIMES FOR DIFFERENT THINGS IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS. MAIN PROBLEM REPORTED EACH TIME IN SERVICE IS MY TRANSMISSION. BETWEEN 20-50 MPH AND 1000-2500 RPM THE CAR WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND LOSE POWER. I HAVE TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL HARDER TO GET THE CAR TO STOP SHUDDERING AND PICK UP ACCELERATION. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN TOW REAR END COLLISIONS B/C OF THE LOSE OF POWER AND SHUDDERING. NISSAN STATES THAT I MUST WAIT FOR A REPROGRAMMING FIX. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE TO SACRIFICE MY SAFETY? TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. I HAVE OWNED 3 PREVIOUS NISSAN PRODUCTS WITH NO PROBLEMS. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW 2013 ALTIMA SEDAN 3.5SL IN NOVEMBER 2012. AT APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES, UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP, THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY FOR 2-3 SECONDS BEFORE KICKING IN AND ACCELERATING (AS IF DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND ATTEMPTED TO START IN 4TH GEAR). THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES SINCE. ADDITIONALLY, OFTEN WHILE ACCELERATING THE RPMS WILL DROP SIGNIFICANTLY AND THE CAR WILL SHUDDERS BEFORE KICKING BACK IN AND ACCELERATING. LASTLY, ON OCCASION, WHILE DECELERATING, THE CAR WILL JERK HARSHLY (AS IF DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND SHIFTING INTO TOO LOW A GEAR FOR THE SPEED). TOOK THE CAR INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE 2/6/2013 AND THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME SHE HADN'T HEARD OF ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, BUT THAT SHE WOULD OPEN A TICKET. CALLED BACK TO NISSAN CORPORATE 2/27/2013 TO FOLLOW UP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY PREVIOUS TICKET HAD BEEN CLOSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHILE THE PASSENGER'S SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE A/C COMPRESSOR STAYING ON EVEN THOUGH I TURN THE DEFROST OFF. SAME IF I TURN AUTO ON THEN OFF. THE A/C LIGHT STAYS OFF, BUT THE A/C COMPRESSOR STAYS ON. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE A/C OFF IS TO PRESS THE A/C BUTTON TWICE (ONCE TO TURN THE LIGHT ON, NEXT TO FORCE THE A/C TO GO OFF). IF THE DEFROST IS OFF, AUTO IS OFF AND THE A/C LIGHT IS OFF, THE A/C COMPRESSOR MUST TURN OFF. IT SHOULD NOT BE A GUESSING GAME FOR THE DRIVER TO WONDER IF THE A/C IS OFF. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT BEFORE AND BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 OR MORE TIMES ABOUT IT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE POSTINGS (COMPLAINTS) ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET (SEE ONE LINK BELOW). THE DEALER MECHANIC AGREES WITH ME THAT THIS IS NOT HOW IT SHOULD WORK, BUT SINCE ALL OTHER SIMILAR CARS DO THE SAME THING, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. *TR

FOR A FEMALE PASSENGER, 5FT. 5IN., WEIGHING 120-125LBS CAUSES INTERMITTENT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG OPERATION. APPEARED TO OPERATE NORMALLY BEFORE. 12/24/2012: VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER AND WAS FOUND THAT THE SCALE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT WAS OFF BY 25. SCALE WAS ZEROED OUT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ISSUE APPEARS TO BE RESOLVED FOR FEMALE PASSENGER, 5FT. 5IN., WEIGHING 120-125LBS. 01/07/2013: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DISABLED FOR MALE PASSENGER 5FT. 6IN., WEIGHING 160LBS. RESOLVED BY RESTARTING VEHICLE. *TR
THERE IS A SHUTTERING VIBRATION IN DRIVE TRAIN WHEN ENGINE IS AT 1500 RPM AND GOING UP AN INCLINE. EVENTUALLY IT IS GOING TO CAUSE LOOSING OF BOLTS AND CAUSE CRASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED ON AND OFF WHILE THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM WAS REPLACED REPEATEDLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,042.
PURCHASED A NEW 2013 ALTIMA SEDAN 3.5SL IN NOVEMBER 2012. WITHIN DAYS NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ALWAYS ON, WHETHER A PASSENGER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. TOOK CAR INTO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR HAD BEEN INCORRECTLY CALIBRATED AT 200 POUNDS INSTEAD OF 0 POUNDS. THEY RECALIBRATED THE SENSOR AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT WORKED FINE... FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS NOW ALWAYS ON. THIS ISSUE CONCERNS ME BECAUSE I MUST ASSUME THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NEVER DEPLOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE THE SEATS WERE OCCUPIED BY ADULT PASSENGERS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE MAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V069000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.

I TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY AND REPORTED PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL. I EXPLAINED TO THE MANAGER HOW THAT COULD NOT BE NORMAL BECAUSE THE PASSENGER CAN SUFFER SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH IF WE HAD AN ACCIDENT. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW 2013 ALTIMA 3.5 S THE CAR DEVELOPED A SHUDDER AND VIBRATION WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE SLIGHTLY. IT ALSO OCCURRED GOING UP SMALL HILLS, AND WHEN I WOULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THEN PULL OFF (FOR INSTANCE AT A RED LIGHT). AFTER NOTICING THIS, I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER, AND WE DID A TEST DRIVE IN HOPES OF MIMICKING THE ISSUE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR A CVT ENGINE, AND THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I WASN'T QUITE CONVINCED, BUT I WANTED TO TRUST HIS OPINION, SINCE THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME DRIVING A CAR WITH A CVT ENGINE. HOWEVER, A FEW WEEKS PASSED AND THE SHUDDER AND VIBRATION GOT WORSE. THE CAR EVEN JERKED FORWARD ONCE WHEN I WAS PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. THIS PROMPTED ME TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER VISIT WITH THE DEALER. THIS TIME THE SAME MECHANIC FROM THE FIRST VISIT AND THE MANAGER RODE ALONG WITH ME. DURING THIS TEST DRIVE THE MANAGER FELT THE SUDDEN SHUDDER, ONCE WE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SLIGHTLY ACCELERATED. THIS PROMPTED THEM TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION, NOT EVEN 30 DAYS AFTER MY PURCHASE. I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM THE DEALER ON 12/7/12 AFTER THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CAR DROVE PERFECTLY FINE. ALTIMA 3.5 TRANSMISSION HAS A SEVERE SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING NORMALLY AT ABOUT 15-25 MPH. THIS IS INTERMITTENT BUT SERIOUS AS IT RESULTS IS SEVERE SHOCK TO THE DRIVETRAIN. THIS WAS NOT PRESENT WHEN NEW AND HAS BEEN INCREASING IN SEVERITY OVER THE LAST 1000 MILES. THE DEALER SAYS THAT NISSAN ENGINEERS CLAIM THAT IT IS "CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE 3.5. OVER THE NEXT 500 MILES THE INCIDENTS BECAME MORE OFTEN AND AT TIMES MORE SEVERE, ONE INCIDENT LASTING FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY SHIFTING INTO GEAR. ON DECEMBER 5, 2012 THE VEH. WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I SPOKE WITH SERVICE MANAGER EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM AND MY CONCERNS OF MAYBE THE VEH. STOPPING IN THE ROADWAY DURING ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS AND BEING REAR ENDED. THIS TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER RODE ALONG WITH ME AND DROVE THE VEH. DUPLICATING THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. THE ENGINEERS AT NISSAN WAS CONTACTED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE ON THE V6 ALTIMAS, HOWEVER THEY HAD NO FIX FOR IT AT THIS TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IDLING AND WOULD SLAM INTO GEAR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IMMEDIATELLY AFTER THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 700.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
