INTERMITTENTLY, "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN THOUGH PASSENGER (130 LBS) IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER, IT OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES, HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE CAR TO CLEAR THE LIGHT. *TR
PASSENGER AIR BAG SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS DESPITE NISSAN REPLACING THE SENSORS IN THAT SEAT ON 9-25-2013. PREVIOUSLY THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURRED ABOUT 6 TIMES DURING THE PERIOD 9-8-2012 TO 9-25-2013. NISSAN UNABLE TO REPLICATE ERROR IN SHOP OR ASCERTAIN CAUSE. ONLY WHEN I PRODUCED VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THE MALFUNCTION DID THEY TAKE ACTION AND REPLACE SEAT SENSORS. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE, WHO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOUR MILES AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND LODGED A COMPLAINT FOR THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,600.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SHUT OFF INDEPENDENTLY AS A PASSENGER WAS OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED EACH TIME THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE RECREATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V069000 (AIR BAGS) AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
DASH MOUNTED PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES...AIR BAG SYSTEM FOR PASSENGER IS OFF. HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 12 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE IN SEP 2012. LIGHT IS LIT SOMETIMES FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME; SOMETIMES FOR SHORT (MINUTE OR LESS). DEALER HAS REPLACED SENSORS IN PASSENGER SEAT. PROBLEM CONTINUES. *TR
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 9/2012. SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER DRIVING, FOUND THE VEHICLE TO HAVE A STEERING PROBLEM. THE CAR CONSTANTLY WANDERS ACROSS THE ROAD, LEFT, SOMETIMES RIGHT. IT REQUIRES YOU TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL WITH BOTH HANDS WITH A VERY TIGHT GRIP, OTHERWISE YOU WILL END UP IN THE NEXT LANE, OFF THE ROAD, OR POSSIBLY INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALSO NOTICE THE CAR PRACTICALLY LOSES CONTROL WITH EVEN THE SLIGHTEST WIND, AGAIN THIS REQUIRES YOU TO TIGHTLY HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE, IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I'VE RETURNED THE CAR 3 TIMES TO THE DEALER, WITH NO RESULTS. *TR
VEHICLE JERKS AT STOPS AND TAKES OFF, RPMS CLIMBED ON THEIR OWN, VEHICLE WON'T START AND WAS TOWED IN, VEHICLE STALL IN MOVING TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, AND FAN BLOWER.
I HAVE HAD MAJOR ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE THE THIRD DAY AFTER PURCHASE. THE BRAKES HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY COME ON AND I HAD IT IN SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER "DUPLICATE" ANYTHING. THEN THE CAR STARTED TO MISFIRE AND EMIT A THICK BLACK SMOKE FROM EXHAUST. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND AT FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL BECAUSE THE CAR HAS A CVT TRANSMISSION. THEN THEY SAID BRING IT IN FOR ASSESSMENT. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE WITH ME AND EXPERIENCED THIS FIRST HAND. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT SERVICE IT THAT DAY, BUT TO BRING IT BACK IN. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER, THEY "COULD NOT DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN MUCH BACK AND FORTH. I ASKED THEM TO BUY THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THE PROBLEMS WERE LIFE THREATENING. THE CAR ACTUALLY SHUT OFF ON ME, TWICE, IN TRAFFIC. WHEN I LAST CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, ON JULY 24TH, 2014, ABOUT THE MAJOR ISSUES I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING; THE EARLIEST THEY SAID THEY COULD SEE ME WOULD BE ON AUGUST 11TH, 2014. ON YESTERDAY, IT FINALLY SHUT OFF FOR GOOD, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. AS I WAS ON A TRIP, I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED 125 MILES TO MY HOMETOWN DEALERSHIP AT THE COST OF $230.00, OUT OF POCKET. THE ONLY REASON I GOT IT HOME THAT CHEAPLY WAS BECAUSE I HAVE FOUR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COVERAGE PACKAGES AND LUCKILY ONE OF THEM COVERED TOWING UP TO 100 MILES. THE CAR IS NOW SITTING ON THE DEALERSHIP'S PARKING LOT. *JS
PASSANGER AIR BACK INDICATOR(LIGHT) SOMETIME COME UP EVEN THOUGH ADULT SITTING ON PASSENGER SHEET. *TR
THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" WARNING LIGHT MAY COME ON WHEN AN ADULT OR LARGE TEENAGER IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS FAILURE HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY. AT TIMES, THE WARNING LIGHT WILL GO OFF AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING. IT APPEARS THAT EITHER THE SEAT SENSOR(S) OR THE SOFTWARE THAT READS THE SENSOR(S) AND DETERMINES THE SIZE/WEIGHT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER MAY BE FAULTY. I AM AMAZED THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL OF THE 2013 ALTIMA FOR THIS ISSUE, GIVEN THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR VIEW MIRROR REFLECTED A GLARE FROM THE VEHICLE THAT WAS DRIVING BEHIND HIM. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR HAS A SWIVEL CONNECTED TO SO IF THERE WAS A GLARE THE DRIVER WOULD BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE MIRROR AS NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ADJUSTING THE MIRROR IT DID NOT MOVE BACK INTO THE APPROPRIATE POSITION BUT SWIVELS ALL THE WAY AROUND AS IF IT WAS LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ALTER THE VEHICLES DESIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A COMPLAINT AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD ESCALATE THE CASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RUST AND CORROSION CAUSED THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL TO FRACTURE FROM THE FRAME. THE DEALER (NISSAN OF STATEN ISLAND, 222 PARKINSON AVE, STATEN ISLAND, NY 10305, 1-(718) 447-3878) DIAGNOSED THAT THE METAL LINK TO THE REAR WHEELS AND CHASSIS FAILED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR CONTROL ARMS AND THE CONTROL LINK FRACTURED. THE DEALER FURTHER INSPECTED THE UNDERCARRIAGE, FRAME, AND FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW IF IT WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER 20 DAYS OF DRIVING, WHILE STOPPED, A STRANGE VIBRATION WAS EMITTED FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON EACH OCCASION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,333. UPDATED 03/13/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED A MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND CONFIMED THE VIBRATION. ON THE SECOND VISIT TO THE DEALER THE GENERAL MANAGER AND SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTED TO BUY A NEW MAXIMA OR ALTIMA. THE CONSUMER DECLINED. THE VIBRATION ONLY WORSENED CAUSING A THIRD VISIT TO THE DEALER. UPDATED 03/28/2013 *JS
WHEN COASTING FROM A LOW SPEED (45-55) TO NEAR STOP THE TRANSMISSION "LOCKS UP" WHILE NOWSHIFTING. THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY LOCKS UP, SO BAD THAT IT FEELS LIKE YOU'VE HIT SOMETHING. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO AFFECTED TO THE BRUTE FORCE. NISSAN ISSUED A MANDATORY RECALL TRANSMISSION REPROGRAM WHICH I PROMPTLY HAD DONE TO THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, JUST THIS FRIDAY, 5/3/13, THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN DID THIS. BOTH TIMES I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS ON BACK ROADS WITH LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IN THE WRONG CONDITIONS (ICE/SNOW/RAIN) OR WHEN ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS COMING COULD GET SOMEONE KILLED. I CAN'T EXPLAIN JUST HOW VIOLENT THE DOWNSHIFT IS, OTHER THAN TO SAY THE FIRST TIME MY 6 YEAR OLD BEGAN CRYING IN THE REAR SEAT BECAUSE HE THOUGHT WE WRECKED, AND THAT THE 2ND TIME MY CELL PHONE WAS JARRED FROM A VERY RUGGED CRADLE. *TR
THE PROBLEM BEGAN WITH THE TRANSMISSION LOCKING UP OR SHUDDERING GOING DOWN HILL, THROWING THE VEHICLE AND ME FORWARD. EVER BEEN ON A GOLF CART GOING DOWN A HILL WHERE THE GOVERNOR THROWS YOU FORWARD? MULTIPLY THAT BY ABOUT 5 AND THAT'S WHAT YOU GET. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE, TO THE POINT WHERE IT ACTUALLY CAUSES THE WHEELS TO STOP AND "CHIRP" ON THE PAVEMENT. NOW, IT EVEN HAPPENS ON RELATIVELY FLAT AREAS AND, GOING UP SOME HILLS, THE TRANSMISSION JUST ABOUT GIVES OUT. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SEVERAL REASONS: (1) LOCKING UP GOING DOWN A HILL IS UNSAFE IF SOMEONE IS BEHIND YOU, (2) THE SEVERITY OF IT COULD CAUSE YOU TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR, (3) LOSING POWER GOING UP A HILL COULD CAUSE YOU TO BE REAR-ENDED. NISSAN HAS BEEN SLOW TO RESPOND EVEN THOUGH OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY DEALER SAYS THAT THEY SEARCHED NISSAN'S "TECH TALK" ACROSS DEALERS AND FOUND NOTHING. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH ON "NISSAN DECELERATION SHUDDER OR LOCKUP" AND YOU'LL FIND LOTS OF FOLKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. VERY UNFORTUNATE FOR AN OTHERWISE GREAT CAR. THEY NEED TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND RECALL SOME OR ALL OF THE 2013S. *TR
I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG OCCUPANT SENSOR COMES ON SHOWING THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE ADULT IS 200 LBS. THE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR 15-20 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING. MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR THE OCCUPANT SENSOR CLASSIFACATION RESET. IT DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT NUMOROUS TIMES TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS STILL NOT A FIX FROM NISSAN. I WANT THIS FIXED. PLEASE HELP.

THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE AN ADULT OVER 125 LBS IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MULTIPLE ADULTS OF VARIOUS WEIGHTS. IF THE CAR IS STOPPED, TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON IT USUALLY CLEARS THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER FOUR TIMES. EACH TIME THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING ELSE TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING. I AM AWAITING A CALL BACK FROM THE MANAGER OF THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT MY PASSENGER WILL NOT BE PROTECTED BY A WORKING FRONT AIR BAG. I HAVE SEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON LINE AND SEEN MANY POST OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS FOR THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. I HAVE ALSO SEEM MANY INSTANCES OF THIS PROBLEM WITH PREVIOUS ALTIMA MODELS AND OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES. *TR

SINCE BUYING THE CAR NEW, THERE HAS BEEN A VIBRATION/SHUDDER COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING. THE DEALER HAS LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM TWICE AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH A TECH HAS HEARD THE VIBRATION WHILE RIDING WITH ME ON A TEST DRIVE. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE POWERTRAINS THAT ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY SHOULD NOT MAKE THIS NOISE. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE LIGHT INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF. THE DEALER HAS RESET THE SEAT TWO TIME AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT OTHERS HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS INDICATED THAT NISSAN HAS PUT A HOLD ON PARTS FOR THAT SEAT. THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. I AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT CAN BE AT RISK IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. IF NISSAN WON'T TELL THEIR OWN DEALERS WHAT IS GOING ON THAT IS A PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN A PASSENGER IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME ON, INDICATING THE AIR BAG FOR THAT PASSENGER IS TURNED OFF AND WILL NOT ACTIVATE IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION THAT WOULD OTHERWISE ACTIVE THE DEVICE. *TR
1) THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE ENTIRELY INADEQUATE TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT LIGHTING INTENSITY AND DISTANCE. THE LIGHTS BARELY ILLUMINATE ABOUT 2 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD, WHICH IS TOO SHORT A DISTANCE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 25-30MPH, MAKING HIGHWAY TRAVEL AT NIGHT VERY DANGEROUS. OBJECTS IN THE PATH OF TRAVEL AND ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ARE NOT VISIBLE IN TIME TO SAFELY RESPOND. STREET SIGNS AND TURNS ARE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY IF THEY ARE NOT NEAR STREET LIGHTS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE BUYING THE CAR, WHICH HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR ADJUSTMENT, BUT THEY INSIST THAT THE LIGHTS ARE SET WITHIN SPECS. THE HIGH BEAMS PROVIDE EXCELLENT LIGHTING, BUT WHEN SWITCHED TO LOW FOR AN ONCOMING VEHICLE, I AM SUDDENLY DRIVING WITHOUT SUFFICIENT LIGHT. THIS IS SUCH A FRIGHTENING PROBLEM THAT I PREFER NOT TO DRIVE THIS CAR AT NIGHT. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THESE LIGHTS MEET SAFETY STANDARDS. 2) THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT OFTEN INDICATES THAT THE BAG IS NOT ACTIVATED EVEN WHEN THERE IS AN ADULT SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED IN A RECALL 5/2014, BUT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE DEALER SAYS "DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT," THAT THE BAG WILL DEPLOY IF NEEDED. I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THAT IS THE CASE AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE SINCE THERE WAS NO ERROR CODE IN THE SYSTEM. I HAD TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT, THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ONE OTHER TIME. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S IN JULY OF 2012 WITH 349 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR REPAIR AND HAVE YET TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. IN THE MEAN TIME THEY ARE ONLY GETTING WORSE. THE FIRST PROBLEM OCCURRED 2 WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED IT. I GOT IN MY CAR AND APPLIED THE BRAKE AND PUSHED THE BUTTON TO START THE CAR AND THE CAR HESITATED, IT WAS ALMOST LIKE THE STARTER HAD HUNG UP. AFTER 4 WEEKS AND IT HAVING DONE IT ABOUT 4 TIMES BY THEN I MADE AND APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT SERVICE AND A FEW DAYS LATER I NOTICED 2 NEW NOISE PROBLEMS. I WAS DRIVING WITH WINDOW DOWN ONE DAY AND HEARD A LOUD CHIMING OR JINGLING NOISE COMING FROM WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE.IT PRETTY MUCH SOUNDED TO BE A LOOSE NUT OR SCREW JINGLING AROUND SOMEWHERE. THEN A FEW DAYS AFTER THAT'S WHEN THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING. AND IT WAS TERRIBLE AND VERY LOUD, LIKE NAILS ON CHALKBOARD AND VERY EMBARRASSING. SO WHEN I BRING IT TO BE SERVICED THEY TELL ME THAT THE ISSUE I HAD WHEN STARTED COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND THAT THE BRAKES WHERE CLEANED AND THE ROTORS WHERE SHAVED DOWN AND ALSO THAT THEY PUT NO SQUEAL ON. AND FOR THE ISSUE WITH THE JINGLING NOISE WAS THAT A SCREW WAS LOOSE AND RATTLING AROUND ON THE ENGINE COVER. BUT WHEN I DROVE THE NEXT DAY THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING AGAIN SO ONCE MORE 2 WEEKS LATER I RETURN IT AGAIN.AND THEY TELL ME THEY HAVE TO SHAVE THE REAR ROTORS THIS TIME. WHEN I LEAVE THIS TIME THE SQUEALING DOES NOT RETURN FOR 2 WEEKS. SO ONCE MORE I RETURN IT THIS TIME THEY TELL ME THAT DIRT IS CAKED UNDER MY BRAKE PADS AND ALL I CAN DO IS PRETTY MUCH PRESSURE WASH THEM EVERY DAY. THAT'S NOT QUALITY! *TR
AIRBAG PASSENGER SENSOR/SYSTEM PROBLEM, AIRBAG DISABLED WITH A 200+ POUND PERSON IN THE PASSENGER SEAT (SHOULD ONLY DISABLE WITH A SMALL CHILD)! HE STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO HAVE THE CAR BACK AND WOULD PAY OUR FIRST MTH PYMT AND GIVE US A REPLACEMENT CAR OF LIKE KIND AND QUALITY. THEY WOULD NOT TELL US WHY THE VEH NEEDED TO BE RETURNED. WE NOTIFIED CORP NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT AND THEY CONTACTED EMPIRE NISSAN. THEY FINALLY ADVISE THAT THE REASON THEY NEED THE VEH BACK WAS BECAUSE THERE WAS AN OPEN CAMPAIGN ON IT WITH A SINGLE RECALL. WE AGREED TO RETURN IT FOR THE REPAIR. WE TOOK THE VEH BACK TO NISSAN AND LATER ON THAT DAY, WE WERE NOTIFIED THERE WERE 10 RECALLS FOUND ON THE VEH! AT THIS POINT WE REALIZED THAT WAS WHY THEY WANTED TO SWAP THE VEH. THEY AGREED TO GIVE US A RENTAL CAR DURING REPAIRS. WE PICKED UP THE VEH & AS SOON AS WE LEFT, THERE WAS A CONSTANT BUZZING NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR, THERE WAS A LOT OF ROAD NOISE AND WHISTLING FROM THE WINDOWS, THE ENGINE WAS LOUD. WE CALLED THE GM [XXX] & ASK THEM TO BUY THE VEH BACK & THEY TOLD US THAT WE WERE ASKING TOO MUCH AND THAT WE ARE ACTING LIKE WE ARE THE VICTIM. WE ALSO CALLED THE SVS MGR, [XXX] TO MAKE HAVE THE VEH SERVICED AGAIN. ON 7/29/12 A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE OWNER'S MANUAL SAID THAT POSSIBLY THE GAS CAP WAS NOT TIGHT. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. MANUAL SAID THAT IF THE LIGHT WAS NOT FLASHING, THEN IT WOULD CLEAR AFTER A FEW TRIPS. IT DID NOT CLEAR, SO I DROVE 25 MILES TO DEALER 8/3/12 FOR THEM TO TEST. THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND WOULD BE REPLACED THE NEXT DAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND SAID THAT WHEN THEY REMOVED THE CONVERTER THAT ITS CONTENTS SPILLED ON THE SHOP FLOOR; AND THAT THEIR CONTACTS WITH NISSAN WAS THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED ON OTHERS AND THUS THE ENGINE HAD BEEN RUINED AND THAT NISSAN WOULD REPLACE THE ENGINE. I STATED THAT I DID NOT WANT A REPLACED ENGINE BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE REQUIRED DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY INVOLVED, ESPECIALLY WITH A CAR ONLY A FEW DAYS OLD AND HAVING DRIVEN ONLY APPROXIMATELY 160 MILES. I HAD PAID FOR A NEW CAR AND WANTED A COMPLETELY NEW CAR AS A REPLACEMENT. I HAVE FILED A CASE WITH NISSAN, BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT SAY THAT THEY ARE REVIEWING THE SITUATION. THE SELLING DEALER HAS BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE, SAID THAT THEY AGREE WITH ME AND HAVE STATED THAT THEY HAVE ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN ON MY BEHALF AND REQUESTED THAT A NEW REPLACEMENT BE PROVIDED. SINCE NISSAN HAS SEEN THIS SITUATION ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, THEY WERE AWARE THAT THEY HAD FAULTY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND THAT CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WAS THE RESULT. THESE ARE NOT CARS WITH SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES USE AND SEVERAL MONTHS OLD; BUT RATHER MINE WAS LESS THAN A WEEK OLD. NISSAN SHOULD NOT GIVE THE BUYING CUSTOMERS THE RUN-A-ROUND, BUT DO THE PROPER THING AND REPLACE THE CARS WITH NEW ONES LIKE WE PAID FOR. ON OUR FIRST TRIP FOLLOWING PURCHASE OF THE CAR, WE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT TRACKING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS CONDITION WAS NOT NOTICEABLE AT SPEEDS LOWER THAN 65 MPH. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY THE NEW STEERING SYSTEM ON THE 2012 ALTIMA. IT USES A POWER-STEERING SYSTEM THAT CONSISTS OF A HYDRAULIC RACK DRIVEN BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEIR TEST DRIVE SERVICE MANAGER CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM. AFTER HE TALKED WITH NISSAN USA, HOWEVER, HE DISAVOWED EVER SAYING THAT HE NOTICED ANY PROBLEM. NUMEROUS CONTACTS WITH NISSAN USA HAVE RESULTED IN NO ACTION TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE INTERNET INCLUDES MANY 2013 ALTIMA BUYERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FIVE TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN RECALIBRATED THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND REPLACED THE SEAT CUSHION BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.
WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF HAVING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THE CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT. HAD THE ALIGNMENT FIXED. 7 MONTHS LATER I HAD THE CAR BACK IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT SAID THE AIR BAG WAS NOT TURNED ON. THIS OCCURRED WITH A 128 POUND GIRL IN THE SEAT AND ON ANOTHER OCCASION WITH A 215 POUND MAN IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD DEPLOY IF NECESSARY. LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER THAT I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AND NOW MY ELEC. STABILITY DID NOT START WORKING TILL ABOUT 15 MIN OF SLIPPING AROUND ON SNOW WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. EVER SINCE IT FINALLY CAME ON THE LIGHT NOW STAYS ON THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME AND OCCASIONALLY GOES OFF BUT THE ROADS HAVE BEEN BOTH WET AND COMPLETELY DRY WHEN THIS OCCURS. ALSO NOW MY STEERING WHEEL IS TILTED ABOUT 30 DEGREES TO THE LEFT WHEN I HAVE MY CAR DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT AWAY BECAUSE MY ALIGNMENT HAS WENT COMPLETELY OFF AGAIN BUT EVEN WORSE THAN BEFORE. *TR
I TOOK POSSESSION OF MY NEW 2013 ALTIMA SV 2.5L 4 CYLINDER ON 11/17/2012. A SHORT TIME LATER I STARTED HEARING A RUMBLING, "LUGGING", SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND FEELING A VIBRATION ON THE GAS PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL, ON LIGHT ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AT AROUND 1500 RPM. ON 12/13/2012 I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY DEALER AND DROVE AROUND WITH MY SALESMAN AND A SENIOR TECHNICIAN, WHO BOTH STATED THEY HEARD THE RUMBLING NOISE. MY SALESMAN AND I WENT ON A DRIVE ON ANOTHER NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 L SIMILAR TO MY CAR AND NEITHER OF US HEARD THE RUMBLING SOUND MY CAR MAKES. NO WORK WAS PERFORMED DURING THIS VISIT. ON 12/19/2012, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME THE SERVICE DEPT. ORDERED A SERPENTINE BELT AND BELT TENSIONER FOR MY CAR AND INSTALLED A PIECE OF INSULATION ON THE A/C LOW PRESSURE LINE. THE WORK ON THE A/C LINE DID NOT HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE NOISE AND VIBRATION LEVEL. MEANWHILE, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND A "REGIONAL SPECIALIST TO HANDLE MY CASE. ON 12/21/2012, I RETURNED TO THE DEALER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. ON THIS VISIT THE SERPENTINE BELT AND TENSIONER ON MY CAR WERE REPLACED BY NEW ONES. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE BELT AND TENSIONER SWAP WAS JUST A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. I DID NOTICED A FRACTIONAL DECREASE IN NOISE AND VIBRATION LEVEL AFTER THE SWAP. AS OF TODAY,01/04/2013, THE NOISE AND VIBRATION ARE BACK. THIS ISSUE HAS BECOME VERY ANNOYING AND DISTRACTING, TO THE POINT WHERE THE ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE FULLY ON MY DRIVING IS BEING AFFECTED. I RARELY USE THE CAR RADIO WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE FOR EXACTLY THIS SAFETY REASON. I'M CONCERNED THE IMPACT OF THE NOISE AND VIBRATION ON MY ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE FULLY ON MY DRIVING COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE INJURY. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM NISSAN. *TR
THE 2013 ALTIMA S HAS AN INTERMITTENT AIRBAG PROBLEM. IS NOTICEABLE WHEN THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER IS ABOUT 120 POUNDS AND SLIM. HAVE NOTIFIED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THE DEALER AND DESPITE A RECALL AND PARTS BEING REPLACED THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. MORE THAN LIKELY IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. *TR
