THE LIGHT INDICATING A PERSON IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DOES NOT OPERATE ALL THE TIME. THE DEALER HAS PROGRAMED IT TWICE. THE DEALER IS FRUSTRATED AS THEY HAVE SEVERAL OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER ASKED ME TO CONTACT NISSAN DIRECTLY WHICH I DID. I WAS TOLD TODAY BY A SPECIALISTS FROM NISSAN THAT I HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN WHEN IT IS DOING IT, I EXPLAINED IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER. SHE INFORMED ME THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT I HAVE TO BRING IT IN WHEN IT IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. I GUESS SHE COULD NOT COMPREHEND THE FACT THAT IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, MOST LIKELY DUE TO A FAULTY T PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR IN THE SEAT. THE PASSENGER WEIGHTS IS AROUND 120 POUNDS SO SHE IS HEAVY ENOUGH FOR THE SENSOR TO PICKUP HER WEIGHT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE LIGHTS ACTS UP IS WHEN WE FIRST START OUT. THERE IS NO SET PATTERN TO CREATE THIS PROBLEM, MIGHT BE OK FOR A WEEK OR TWO THEN COULD DO IT TWO OR THREE DAYS IN A ROW AND MAYBE GO OUT BY IT SELF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, MAYBE CLOSE TO A YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE CONTACT LOOKED BOTH WAYS. UPON ACCELERATING, A TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH EXTREME FORCE FOR THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE CURTAIN SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER'S LEFT EYE WAS DAMAGED, WHICH AFFECTED THE CORNEA, AND THE DRIVER ALSO SUSTAINED BRUISING ACROSS THE CHEST AND BACK PAINS. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISING TO THE ARMS, CHEST, AND HIPS. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER RECEIVED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A YARD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE AIR BAG ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BECOME VERY DIM OVER TIME. BOTH LIGHT BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, BUT IT IS LIKE DRIVING WITH NO HEADLIGHTS! I OFTEN HAVE TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS ON SO I CAN SEE AT NIGHT! HAVING HIGH BEAMS ON IS A DANGER FOR OTHER DRIVERS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THERE HAS TO BE SOME WAY TO MAKE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF NISSAN'S NEGLIGENCE!
DISCOVERED THE INADEQUATELY POOR LOW-BEAM ILLUMINATION LEVEL IN 2017 WHEN I HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS-SIDE HEADLAMP. NOTICED THE BEAM DID NOT LIGHT UP ON MY SHIRT WHEN STANDING IN FRONT OF THE CAR. THE PASSENGER SIDE LAMP DID. NOT GREATLY, BUT THERE WAS A BEAM ON MY SHIRT. REPLACED THE LOW-BEAM LAMP AGAIN AND DID BOTH SIDES AND THE PROBLEM WITH POOR ILLUMINATION CONTINUED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. AT THIS POINT MY 2014 MODEL WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I HAD STARTED USING MY HIGH-BEAM LIGHTS AT NIGHT AND LIVED WITH IT. THEN DISCOVERED MY CAR WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE AND DECIDED TO SUBMIT THIS NHTSA COMPLAINT.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE IN 2014 AND I HAVE HAD ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. I'M NOT AT 71K MILES AND HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ABRUPT JERKING WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN HAS A RECALL TO REPROGRAM THE CVT. HOWEVER, THEY OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO FEW CUSTOMERS AND NOT ALL OF US. THIS IS AN ONGOING COMPLAINT REGARDING THE CVT AND THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY CONSUMERS HAVE PAID...NOT TO MENTION THE INEVITABLE SAFETY RISK. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE AND NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY REGARDING THE RECALL...WHICH THEY DID NOT INFORM ME ABOUT UNTIL I CALLED ABOUT MY CAR 2 DAYS AGO. NOT TO MENTION ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG, THAT I FOUND OUT ABOUT ONLINE. THEY ARE NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL.
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING IN THE MORNING WHILE OUT RUNNING ERRANDS. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE THEN ATTEMPTED TO EXIT BUT THE DOOR HANDLE WOULD NOT OPEN THE CAR DOOR. I FEARED I WOULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR. I MANAGED TO CLIMB OVER THE CONSOLE AND EXIT THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A SERVICE TECH AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND HE INFORMED ME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES AS WELL. HE FURTHER STATED IT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1,000 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO REPAIR THE HANDLE. THIS IS A PRODUCT LIABILITY ISSUE WHICH CLEARLY PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.
DURING DRIVING THE VEHICLE JERKS AS IF IT'S GOING TO CUT OFF. IT HAS ACTUALLY CUT OFF A FEW TIMES WHILE IN TRAFFIC. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY OF SOME OF THE SAME VEHICLE, BUT NOT ALL...EVEN THOUGH IT'S A CONTINUOUS ISSUE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SALE CARS THAT THEY KNOW HAVE THESE PROBLEMS, LEAVING THE CONSUMER RESPONSIBLE FOR EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. MY VEHICLE HAS 71K MILES AND I UPKEEP WITH ALL MAINTENANCE. *TR
PASSENGERS SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON WHEN SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT. WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE VIDEOED IT AND SHOWED IT TO THEM AND I HAVE CALLED NISSAN MISS [XXX] DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR IT. [XXX] ALSO SAID IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL AND THEY I WILL HAVE TO PAY. I JUST CHECKED THE WEB AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. I JUST PAID 646.00 TO GET IT FIXED AND THE LIGHT IS ON. THE LIGHT STAYS ON GOING DOWN THE ROAD HIGHWAY OR CITY DRIVING. I BOUGHT MY NISSAN SALAVAGED THE AIRBAGS LIGHT R ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO RESET THE SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE FAULKNER NISSAN MECHANICSBURG LOCATED AT 6627 CARLISLE PIKE, MECHANICSBURG, PA 17050, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.*DT*JB
HEADLAMPS ARE VERY DIM WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. CONTROL ARMS ARE LOOSE, I'M GUESSING THE RESULT OF THE 2 FLAPS ON EACH SIDE.UNDERNEATH THE CAR KEEPS COMING LOOSE EVEN AFTER REPLACING PLASTIC SCREWS. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED.
I WORK IN CAR LEASING AND ACTUALLY THINK THE INFORMATION ON THIS WEBSITE'S DATABASE IS WRONG, JUST FLAGGING THIS ISSUE. THIS VIN AND MANY OTHERS FOR OTHER ALTIMAS SAYS NO REMEDY BUT WHEN YOU GO TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ARE ABLE TO SOLVE RECALL R1609. OTHER ALTIMA VINS WITH THIS SAME RECALL ALSO HAVE A DIFFERENT STATUS SAYING THERE IS A SOLUTION. *TR
BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS NO LONGER ADEQUATELY ILLUMINATE THE ROAD AT NIGHT, CREATING VERY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. ILLUMINATION INTENSITY HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME. USE OF HIGH BEAMS IS REQUIRED TO ADEQUATELY VIEW THE ROAD AT NIGHT, WHICH BLINDS ONCOMING DRIVERS, THUS CREATING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR THEM.
NISSAN'S 2014 ALTIMA CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT OF THE CARS. I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. 1) MY FIRST TRANSMISSION DIED NOV 2016 AFTER ONLY 50K MILES. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD, IT KEPT DYING AS SOON AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WAS STRANDED IN STREET UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME. 2) THE TRANSMISSION IT GOT REPLACED WITH DOES NOT DRIVE SMOOTHLY - IT JERKS, IT GOES TO HIGH RPM'S FOR NO REASON. WHEN I AM IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, IT SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN: WHEN I AM BRAKING, I FEEL A PULL AS IF THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO STOP. OR SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL FEEL LIKE IT'S REVVING HARDER THAN I NEED IT TO (UP TO 4-5K RPMS WHEN GOING UNDER 25MPH). 3) THIS TRANSMISSION HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AT A RED LIGHT. I WILL TRY TO ACCELERATE, AND IT WON'T MOVE. IT FINALLY BEGINS TO GO AFTER 3-5 SECONDS OF STALLING. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL IT DIES COMPLETELY, AS MY PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION DID FOR THIS CAR. 4) I WAS CRUISING ON A SIDE STREET ONCE, GOING AROUND 40-45MPH, AND SUDDENLY THE RPM'S SHOOT UP TO 4-5 FOR NO REASON (USUALLY CRUISE BETWEEN 1-2). I PUT MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS, AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. IT FINALLY DID AFTER ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR- ANYTIME I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, I AM WONDERING IF MY CAR IS GOING TO DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TURN, AND IF I AM GOING TO GET T-BONED. I'VE COMPLAINED TO MY DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES (TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS), AND THEY ALWAYS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. SEARCH ONLINE AND YOU WILL SEE THE MANY COMPLAINS ABOUT NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION. WITH ONLY 65K MILES ON A CAR I BOUGHT NEW, WE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TO DEAL WITH SUCH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. AND NISSAN WON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THEIR TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAULTY.
HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH AND NOT VISIBLE DRIVING AT NITE. VERY DANGEROUS AND NOT SAFE FOR NITE DRIVING AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN FOR ALL 2013-2015 ATIMA MODELS.HAVE TO PURCHASE NEW HEADLIGHTS WHICH COST ME $300.00 FOR HEADLIGHT AND $300 TO INSTALL. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THESE NISSAN ATIMA'S AND I SHOULD GET REIMBURSED.
MY HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM I CANNOT SEE, I REPLACED THE BULBS AND THERE IS NO CHANGE, THE ISSUE IS IN THE HEADLIGHT COVERING, ITS DARKENING THE BULB. IT IS A HAZARD!
PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS TO MY DEALER REGARDING MY CAR IS THE 'STUTTERING OR JUTTING' OF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING - AT TIMES ALMOST VIOLENTLY. THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED ONCE WITHIN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. ON DECEMBER 29, 2016 WHILE TRAVELING FROM MO TO IL, WHILE ON I-44 TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH UPHILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE THE BEST WAY I WOULD DESCRIBE IT. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED REVVING TO OVER 6,000 RPMS, THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT REACT, IT WAS IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS REVVING THE ENGINE. THE LOSS OF ABILITY TO CONTROL THE CARS SPEED WHILE GOING UPHILL ON THE EXPRESSWAY PUT US IN SERIOUS DANGER. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS PUT INTO 'PARK' WE WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES BUT DUE TO OUR LOCATION ON THE EXPRESSWAY SHOULDER WE KNEW WE NEEDED TO GET INTO A BETTER SIGHT OF ONCOMING VEHICLES, IT SEEMED AS IF THEY DIDN'T SEE US UNTIL THEY WERE RIGHT NEAR US, MANY TRUCKS WERE UNABLE TO MOVE OVER ON SHORT NOTICE SO WHEN THEY PASTED US AT 70+ MILES THE ENTIRE CAR SHOOK. WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO EITHER 'DRIVE' OR 'REVERSE'. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED, DUE TO HEAVY VOLUME THEY COULD NOT GET TO US FOR AT LEAST 1 1/2 HOURS, THEY DEEMED THE SITUATION DANGEROUS AND THE MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WAS CALLED. WHEN THEY ARRIVED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 HOUR LATER THE CAR WOULD GO INTO DRIVE, BUT WITH EXTREME JERKING AND CONSTANT REVVING OF THE ENGINE. SINCE THE CAR MOVED THEY ESCORTED US THE 1 1/2 MILE TO THE NEAREST EXIT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY, WHILE TRAVELING DOWNHILL, JUST COASTING THE CAR WOULD CONSTANTLY JERK AND THE ENGINE WAS REVVING. THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK THE 200 MILES TO OUR DEALERSHIP. THE CAR EXPERIENCED 'TRANSMISSION FAILURE' AND IS CURRENTLY HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE HOOD FLEW OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE HOOD PANEL WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V565000 (HOOD/LATCH). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN MY 2014 ALTIMA, THE SYMPTOMS ARE WHILE SITTING AT A STOP AND ENGINE IDLING AT A NORMAL RPM IN DRIVE THE CAR WILL AT RANDOM BEGIN TO LURCH FORWARD RPMS WILL FLUCTUATE AND AT TIMES ENGINE WILL DIE. AFTER THE ENGINE DIES AT TIMES RESTART IS DIFFICULT AND MAY TAKE TWO OF THREE ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE CAR (ENGINE/TRANSMISSION) WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND THEREFORE (THIS IS MY OPINION) THERE IS NO PROBLEM. WITH ONLY 10,000 MILES LEFT ON MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, I FEEL THAT NISSAN HAS PUT ME BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE, IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST NISSAN. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM. I EVEN REPLACE THEM WITH HID AND LED LIGHT BUT NO CHANGE VERY LOW VISIBILITY AT NIGHT
I CAN'T SEE AT NIGHT USING THE DIM LIGHTS. I HAVE CHANGED THEM 3 TIMES, AND PUT THE MOST EXPENSIVE/POWERFUL/BRIGHTEST LIGHTS I COULD BUY, AND PAID MECHANICS 3 TIMES TO CHANGE THEM (YOU HAVE TO GO UP THROUGH THE WHEEL WELL SKIRTING), AND THE BRIGHTNESS I GET IS LIKE CANDLE LIGHT. I TRY NOT TO EVER HAVE TO DRIVE IT AT NIGHT.
HOOD RELEASED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY.
ENGINE SHOULD'VE SHUT OFF OR GIVE WARNING SIGN THAT OIL FROM THE OIL FILLER CAME OUT ANDSPLATTERED ALL OVER ENGINE CAUSING A ENGINE FIRE WHICH COULD'VE INJURED OR KILLED SOMEONE THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE SOMEONE MUST'VE LEFT THE OIL FILLER CAP OFF OR DIDN'T TIGHTEN CAP,ALL MECHANICS TOLD ME THE CAR SHOULD'VE SHUT OFF OR WARNING LIGHT SHOULD'VE CAME ON. ALSO THE LOCATION OF OIL FILLER IS IN A BAD SPOT IT'S ON THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE WITH LOTS OF PLASTIC COVERS OVER ENGINE,MOST ENGINES THE OIL FILLER IS ON SIDE OF ENGINE SO OIL DOESN'T SPILL ON TOP OF ENGINE .THE ENGINE IS A 2.5 LITER ENGINE .THE ENGINE RUNS VERY HOT AND WITH ALL THE PLASTIC PARTS AND ANY OIL SPILLING IT CAN EASILY CATCH FIRE .I THINK NISSAN SHOULD INSTALL A OIL FILLER CAP SENSOR TO AVOID POTENTIAL ENGINE FIRES.CAR IS BEING REPAIRED NOW FROM INSURANCE CLAIM BUT NISSAN REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ANY FINCANCIAL OFFER OR A REPLACEMENT CAR,SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW 6 MONTHS AGO .I THINK SOMEONE SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS,A SIMPLE FIX LIKE A OIL CAP SENSOR COULD PREVENT FIRES AND SAVE LIVES
NISSAN ISSUED RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR THAT DISENGAGES THE AIRBAG WHEN A GROWN ADULT IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY CAR WAS RECALLED AND "SUPPOSEDLY" FIXED, BUT TWO SEPARATE INCIDENCES HAVE OCCURRED WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS OFF WHEN A PERSON IS SEATED THERE HAS OCCURRED. THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED FULLY WITH NISSAN'S WARRANTY FIX AND NISSAN IS LOOKING INTO MY CAR FURTHER ON HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE OCCURRING AFTER THE SO CALLED "FIX" PERFORMED BY NISSAN. STARTS CAR IN PARKING LOT AND DRIVES TO THE PARKING ATTENDANT BOOTH WITHOUT ISSUE PUTS CAR IN PARK TO PAY WHILE TRYING TO PAY, HEARS LOUD 'GRINDING' SOUND. ASKS ATTENDANT IF HE HEARS THE SOUND. ATTENDANT SAYS 'YES" ASKS ATTENDANT IF SHE'S POSSIBLY ON THE CURB OR STUCK ON SOMETHING. ATTENDANT SAYS 'NO" AND RAISES GATE. PRESSES BRAKE PEDAL AND MOVES THE TRANSMISSION SELECTOR TO DRIVE REMOVES FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR LAUNCHES AGGRESSIVELY AND ACCELERATES UNCONTROLLABLY. CAR'S SPEED INCREASES. REPEATEDLY PRESSES BRAKES BUT FORWARD PROGRESS IS BARELY SLOWED. CONTINUES PRESSING BRAKES AS CAR STRIKES A SIGN, HOTEL LIGHTING, AND CRASHES INTO A TREE; STOPPING CAR'S FORWARD PROGRESS. ENGINE CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE; SPINNING FRONT TIRES INTO THE GROUND. RESPONDERS OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND EXTRACT DRIVER. WHEELS CONTINUE TO SPIN. WHEELS SPIN UNTIL ONE RESPONDER IS ABLE TO CUT OFF THE CAR

TOOK CAR TO DEALER TO CLAIM UNDER 3-YEAR "BUMPER-TO-BUMPER" WARRANTY & EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT THAT DEALER CLAIMED AT TIME OF PURCHASE WOULD COVER ALL PROBLEMS. DEALER CLAIMED THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER EITHER WARRANTY. WARRANTIES ARE TOTALLY BOGUS.

CVT TRANSMISSION. I WAS AT THE INTERSECTION OF PAGE AVE AND SEVEN UP DRIVE IN OVERLAND, MO, AND MY CAR STOPPED. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND PARK THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT ROLLED BACKWARDS. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK, PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, AND CALLED ROADSIDE SERVICE. MY DAUGHTER (7YRS) AND I WERE TERRIFIED. CARS WERE A FEW 100 FEET FROM HITTING US. I WAS CONSTANTLY WAVING CARS TO GO AROUND MY CAR. THE OVERLAND POLICE FINALLY ARRIVED (1 HOUR LATER) AND PUSHED MY CAR TO A SAFER LOCATION SO IT COULD BE TOWED. MY CAR WAS LATER TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT MY CVT (TRANSMISSION) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON FOR THE FOURTH TIME SINCE NEW. (TODAYS DATE 09/26/2016) THE FIRST TWO TIMES, NISSAN RESET IT AND CONVENIENTLY DIDN'T MAKE A RECORD OF IT IN THE REPAIR HISTORY WHILE IT WAS IN WARRANTY. I TOOK IT IN A FEW WEEKS AGO BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN, THEY SAID IT WAS A LOOSE CONNECTION UNDER THE SEAT CAUSED BY A BOX OF KLEENEX, WHICH I THINK IS NOT TRUE. LAST WEEK THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN WITH NOTHING UNDER THE SEAT. THIS TIME, THEY SAID I NEED A NEW AIRBAG AT A COST OF $1100, CLAIMING I NEVER BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE MY CAR NOW HAS 70K MILES ON IT, NEVER-MIND IT IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THIS CLEAR AND OBVIOUS DEFECT CAUSES A SIGNIFICANT RISK TO THE OCCUPANTS BECAUSE IT PREVENTS ANY OF THE AIRBAGS FROM DEPLOYING IN AN ACCIDENT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND OVER $1000 ON A PART THAT SHOULD NEVER GO BAD ON A CAR THAT IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. FYI: THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON EVERY TIME AND EVERY TIME IT CAME ON THERE WAS NOBODY IN THE BACK SEAT, NOR WAS THE SEAT BEING ADJUSTED OR WAS ANYTHING INTERFERING WITH THE PLUG, AS NISSAN TRIES TO CLAIM.
HAVE HAD 2 FACTORY RECALLS FOR PASS. SIDE AIRBAG NOT BEING ACTIVATED WITH PASS. IN THE SEAT. STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM SOMETIMES. THE DEALER STATED I WOULD BE CHARGED IF THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. THANK GOODNESS WE HAVE NOT BEEN IN A ACCIDENT THAT NEEDED THE USE OF THE PASS. AIRBAG WHEN IT WAS DEACTIVATED.

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WITH MY TODDLER IN CAR, I CAME TO STOP LIGHT, THE CAR SHUTTERED FORWARD AND THEN SHUT OFF. RESTARTED CAR AND WHEN PLACED IN GEAR, CAR IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF AGAIN. WAITED FOR 25 SECONDS AND RESTARTED CAR TO DRIVE HOME. NEXT DAY, CAR CONTINUED SAME BEHAVIOR MORE OFTEN HOWEVER IT TOOK LONGER AND LONGER TO GET THE CAR TO REMAIN ON AND I HAD TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL EVERY TIME I STOPPED. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT PRODUCE ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES. THE CAR SHUT OFF WHEN THE TECH ATTEMPTED TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE FIRST TEST DRIVE. THEY ALLOWED THE CAR TO COOL AND ATTEMPTED A SECOND TEST DRIVE BUT WERE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 48,900 MILES, PURCHASED WITH BRAND NEW IN 2014 AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE CAR STEERING WHEEL PUMP MAKES A WHINING NOISE WHICH CAN BE HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR. THE NOISE IS SO IRRITATING THAT IT CAN OUT ANYONE HAVE A VERTIGO. YET TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIPS SAY THIS IS NORMAL, AND REFUSE TO ACCEPT IT. SOME ALTIMAS HAVE THE NOISE ASND SOME DO NOT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT NISSAN (THE COMPANY) AND NISSAN DEALERSHIPS ARE COLLUDING AND DON'T WANT TO MAKE THIS EXPENSIVE RECALL. HAD PROBLEMS SHIFTING CAR INTO GEAR (FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE) AND MY VEHICLE HAS HORRIBLE ACCELERATION. ONCE IT WAS GOING IT WOULD GO, BUT STOP TO STARTING WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE AN INFANT! MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 2 WEEKS A MECHANIC AND NOW DEALERSHIP AND I AM STILL NOT IN MY VEHICLE! NISSAN NEEDS TO INFORM CONSUMERS OF FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSIONS.
POOR VISIBILITY: WHEN SUNLIGHT OR ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS STRIKES THE WINDSHIELD AT ABOUT 40 TO 60 DEGREES, IT PREVENTS GOOD VISIBILITY, SPECIALLY WHEN ENTERING MY GARAGE. THE PROBLEM BECOMES WORSE AND UNDER RAINY-FOGGY CONDITIONS. MAKING VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD AND THE SIGNS, SPITE OF USING THE WIND SHIELD WIPERS AND THE DEFOGGER TO THE MAX. I WENT TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM; I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD. I SENT A LETTER ON 7/24/16 TO NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA TO NOTIFY THEM OF THIS PROBLEM. NO WRITTEN RESPONSE GIVEN; A CLERK OR SECRETARY CALLED ME TO TELL ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME AGAIN THERE IN NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD. ON AUGUST 30TH, 2016 WHILE DRIVING WITH 2 PASSENGERS, THE POOR VISIBILITY OF THE WINDSHIELD PUT US IN SERIOUS RISK OF CRASH AT AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS IMMEDIATE CORRECTION, BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/31/13. THIS VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS HAD A MINIMUM OF 2 RECALLS ON IT SINCE I HAD IT. I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR NEARLY ALL DAY (NO MORE THAN 50 MILES PER DAY) AND SUDDENLY ONCE I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND WAS ABOUT TO CROSS IT, THE CAR ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I COULD HEAR THE RADIO. NOTE: MY TODDLER CHILD WAS WITH ME. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES BUT AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN THE DRIVE GEAR, IT WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO SIT TO THE STOP SIGN WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING FOR NEARLY 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD ALLOW ME TO START AND PUT IT IN GEAR TO DRIVE IT HOME. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A FULL DIAGNOSIS AS THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE COOLED. I HAD NO WAY HOME AS I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP'S SHUTTLE RADIUS AND WAS OFFERED A RENTAL CAR BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TRUST THAT I WOULD MAKE IT BACK HOME WITH IT. I DID MAKE IT HOME BUT IT SHUT OFF IN THE YARD. I HAD IT TOWED A FEW DAYS LATER TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER TESTING AND IT WAS REVEALED TO ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. I AM BOTHERED BY THIS BECAUSE THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND IS 2 YEARS OLD. ALSO, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND MY CHILD AS IT COULD HAVE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION IN WHICH WE WERE CROSSING.

I PARKED THE CAR ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, PLACED THE SHIFTER IN PARK AND STEPPED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I EXITED THE VEHICLE, LEFT THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN. I OPENED THE LEFT REAR DOOR, REMOVED MY DOG AND CLOSED THE DOOR. I LOOKED UP JUST IN TIME AS I WAS STRUCK BY THE OPEN FRONT DOOR OF MY CAR, KNOCKED TO THE GROUND AND IT ROLLED OVER MY LEG. IT ROLLED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET AND STRUCK A TREE.
I RAN LOW ON WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID AND A LIGHT CAN ON NOTIFYING ME. THE NEXT DAY I NOTICED THAT THE LANE DETECTION SYSTEM AND THE CAR IN YOUR BLIND SPOT INDICATOR WAS NO WORKING. CAUSING A SAFETY CONCERN. COME TO FIND OUT. WHEN YOU RUN LOW ON WIPER FLUID, IT DEACTIVATES THESE SAFETY FEATURES. I THINK THIS IS CRAZY AND DANGEROUS. PUT IN WIPER FLUID AND IT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. WOW!!!

SINCE I HAVE HAD MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA IT HAS FACED SEVERAL MAJOR ISSUES SUCH HAS TWO TRANSMISSIONS REPLACEMENTS, NOW THE AC COMPRESSOR, THEN THE CAR DISPLAY SCREEN TURNED COMPLETELY PINK, AND OTHER NUMEROUS ISSUES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOCUMENTED IN YOUR SYSTEM. PLEASE REFER BACK TO MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SUBMITTED, MY SERVICE RECORDS FOR THE DEALERSHIP, AND SO FORTH FOR DOCUMENTATION PURPOSES. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT A CAR WITH ONLY 7 MILES ON IT WHEN PURCHASED SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY OF THESES ISSUES UNLESS IT WAS MANUFACTURED POORLY.
