TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND TOOK APPROXIMATELY FIVE SECONDS TO INCREASE IN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG LITE STAYS ON WHILE THE PASSENGER IS SEATED.INDICATING THE AIR BAG IS IN-OPERATIVE. THE DEALER PERFORMED UPDATES, BOTH SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE. THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER FIXED ! AFTER DEMANDING A FACTORY ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE CAR, THE RESULT WAS: SOME OF THESE CARS , THIS FAILURE WILL HAPPEN, AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE" HIS RECOMMENDATION WAS , DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE CAR AND RE-START THE CAR AND THE "COMPUTER" WILL BE RESET ! THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISES AND ABRASIONS AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL MALFUNCTIONED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99.
AS THE SPEED REDUCES BELOW 25 MPH, WHEN YOU LEAVE GAS PEDAL, EVEN ON A LEVEL ROAD, THE ENGINE RPM APPEARS TO FALL AT OR BELOW 1000 RPM AND THEN SHOOTS UP TO 1300 RPM. IT THEN STRUGGLES TO FIND THE CORRECT GEAR RATIO AND FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 1000-1500 RPM WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION. THIS CREATES A JERKY BEHAVIOR AND ACCELERATION WHEN NONE INTENDED ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE INTENDS TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ALMOST ZERO ENGINE ASSIST FOR DECELERATION. INSTEAD OF DROPPING TO AROUND 1000 OR LOWER AND THEN STAYING STEADY THERE, IT DROPS AND JUMPS UP WHICH CREATES DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION ESPECIALLY IN RAIN AND SNOW. RPM APPEARED TO DROP AND THEN SHOOT TO STAY ABOVE 1000 RPM INSTEAD OF GRADUALLY DROPPING AND STAYING STEADY. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND HE REPRODUCED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, OTHER ALTIMA IN INVENTORY SHOWED SIMILAR BEHAVIOR AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NISSAN WAS CONTACTED AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A "FEATURE". THIS IS NOT RIGHT - IN FACT THERE HAVE BEEN SIMILAR REPORTS AS FAR BACK AS 2007 ALTIMAS - AND MUST BE CORRECTED. IT APPEARS THAT THEY FIXED AN ISSUE WITH STALLING VEHICLES IN 2013 ALTIMAS AND INTRODUCED NEW PROBLEM WHERE YOU HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES MANY TIMES TO ACHIEVE STABLE IDLE SPEED OF 750 RPM. THIS IS WEARING MY BRAKES PREMATURELY AND IS A HAZARD IN RAIN AND SNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION WHEN IT SHOULD REALLY DECELERATE. I WAS TRAVELING EAST ON HIGHWAY 70 IN NC IN A 2014 WHITE NISSAN ALTIMA ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY UNDER RAINY CONDITIONS. A HYUNDAI WAS TRAVELING WEST ON HWY 70, HYDROPLANED, CROSSED THE MEDIAN AND HIT ME HEAD ON CAUSING HER CAR TO SPIN AND HER PASSENGER SIDE THEN STRUCK MY DRIVER'S SIDE. MY STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SECOND IMPACT DAMAGED MY NISSAN'S DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO THE POINT IT HAD TO BE FORCED OPEN. THE HYUNDAI'S PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK SEATS WHICH IS THE SIDE THAT STRUCK MY DRIVER'S SIDE. ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 15TH 2014 I WAS LEAVING MY COMMUNITY AND THERE WAS A SECTION ON THE WAY WHERE WATER ACCUMULATES AFTER IT RAINS. DURING MY DRIVE OUT THE COMMUNITY I NEEDED TO GO THROUGH THE PUDDLE OF WATER TO CONTINUE MY EXIT. AS I PASSED THROUGH THE PUDDLE,THE WATER RUSHED INSIDE THE CAR, ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL. IT APPEARS THAT THE WATER RUSHED INTO THE CABIN THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR

OVER 65MPH THE CAR BECAME UNSTABLE AND CONSTANT STEERING INPUTS WERE NEEDED TO STAY IN MY LANE. CAR DIDN'T TRACK VERY WELL THRU CORNERS AND WAS VERY TIRING TO DRIVE. *TR
SINCE I LEASED MY CAR IN MAY2014 I FORGOT TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF 4 TIMES . TWICE IT RAN ALL NIGHT IN MY GARAGE BUT FORTUNATELY THE GAS FUMES DID NOT ENTER MY HOUSE WHILE I WAS SLEEPING. I BELIEVE ITS BECAUSE I'M NOT USE TO THE KEYLESS IGNITION SYSTEM. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I MISTAKENLY STARTED THE ENGINE WITH THE REMOTE START CAPABILITY WHILE THE KEY WAS IN MY POCKET. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE CAR DEALER AND AT MY REQUEST THEY DISENGAGED THE REMOTE START FEATURE ON THE VEHICLE, RECENTLY THE CAR WAS LEFT RUNNING ALL NIGHT FOR THE SECOND TIME SO I APPARENTLY FORGOT TO TURN IT OFF, I AM ELDERLY AND HARD OF HEARING AND CAN HARDLY HEAR THE ENGINE RUNNING, I WEAR A HEARING AID. IT RUNS VERY QUIETLY. ONCE I LOANED MY DAUGHTER THE CAR AND SHE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM OF NOT TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, I LEARN FROM INTERNET POST THAT COUNTLESS REPORTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND SEVERAL DEATHS BY CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING HOMES HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, I UNDERSTAND THE KEYLESS IGNITION SYSTEM HAS BEEN AROUND FOR MANY YEARS AND IS INSTALLED IN MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLES, I WAS NOT AWARE OF IT UNTIL I GOT MY CAR. I FEEL A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BEFORE MORE PEOPLE GET KILLED, THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF IT WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY SINCE COUNTLESS REPORTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE. WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION NOTHING HAPPENS. ALL I HEAR IS A CLICK WHERE THE CAR IS TRYING TO IGNITE. AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES IT FINALLY CRANKS UP AND START. I'VE HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO NISSAN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND BOTH CAME BACK NEGATIVE. NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM BUT IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENT NOW SINCE THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER 2013 AND AGAIN IN APRIL 2014. MY SON LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE DUE TO A SEIZURE , HE HIT A ON COMING 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK PARTLY HEAD ON , THEN ANOTHER TRUCK T-BONE HIM IN THE PASSENGER SIDE. DURING THE WRECK NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ARE THE SEAT BELT RESTRAIN HIM . HIS HEAD WENT THRU THE WINDSHIELD PARTLY AND THE BACK OF HIS NECK BROKE OFF THE HEAD REST. HE HAS NO RELATED ISSUES OF SEIZURES OF ANY KIND IN THE PAST, NO ONE TICKETED FOR THE ACCIDENT PERIOD. WE COME FIND OUT THAT NISSAN MANUFACTURE HAS A RECALL ON THIS CAR BECAUSE OF AIRBAGS PROBLEMS. RECENTLY AFTER GETTING THE S/W UPDATED FOR THE RECALL TO FIX THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ISSUE, I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR FOR BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER ARE RED FOR LONGER TIME THAN OTHER DASH LIGHTS DURING THE START OF THE ENGINE. USUALLY, AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE , ALL THE DASH LIGHT WOULD COME AND WITHIN COUPLE OF SECONDS, LIGHTS/INDICATORS IN THE DASH WOULD GO FROM RED TO OFF INDICATING THAT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. BUT OFF LATE , I NOTICED THAT ONLY THE AIR BAG INDICATOR IS GOING OFF BY AT LEAST 3+ SECONDS, WHICH IN TURN IN SYNC WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I'M KIND OF WORRIED THAT THE AIR BAG SAFETY SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. PLEASE ADVISE ANY FURTHER ACTION TO GET PROPER ATTENTION FROM THE DEALER. THANKS *TR

RE RECALL 14V-138. TOOK VEHICLE IN ON 6-19-2014. REPROGRAM OF PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS PERFORMED BY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. DID NOT FIX. SENSOR DEACTIVATION LIGHT COMING ON AGAIN. WHY IS DEACTIVATION EVEN A FEATURE? NEEDS REMOVED/REPLACED SO THAT AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY IN COLLISION WHETHER SEAT IS OCCUPIED OR EMPTY!
THE NEW ELECTRO HYDRAULIC STEERING ON 2013+ ALTIMAS APPEARS TO HAVE A FAULTY SOFTWARE. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE VEHICLE SPEED SENSITIVE/PROPORTIONAL AT ALL! THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND TIRESOME TO DEAL WITH. NORMALLY, POWER STEERING ESPECIALLY THE ELECTRICALLY ASSISTED STEERING WILL EMPLOY SPEED SENSITIVITY WHICH WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO MOVE THE WHEEL AT LOWER SPEEDS AND HARDER ON HIGHER SPEEDS. THIS IS NECESSARY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE STEADY AND CORRECTED INSTEAD OF WANDERING AND NEEDING TO BE OVERCORRECTED. A CORRECTLY FUNCTIONING ELECTRO STEERING SHOULD THEREFORE MAKE THE STEERING TIGHT AT HIGH SPEEDS > 60 MPH TO KEEP THE CAR CENTERED ON THE ROAD AND GIVE STABILITY TO THE RIDE. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA SV FROM BAKER NISSAN NORTH IN HOUSTON, TEXAS (19630 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77065 (281) 890-5656). MY TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TWICE (REPLACED THE FIRST TIME AND NOW HAVING TO BE REPLACED AGAIN) AND I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING WITH A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THEN TO TOP IT OFF I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND HAVE PURCHASED A TOTAL OF FOUR CARS FROM THIS DEALERSHIP NOW. I FILED A CONSUMER AFFAIRS REPORT WITH NISSAN CORPORATION AND HAVE YET TO HEAR SOMETHING. I ALSO CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE IN CHARGE SUCH AS THE GENERAL MANAGER AND THEY INFORMED ME TO CONTACT THE CONSUMERS AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT WITH NISSAN CORPORATION. THEY SAID THEY HAVE A CHAIN OF COMMAND TO FOLLOW AND THAT WOULD BE MY BEST BET OF GETTING THE SITUATION RESOLVED. I WOULD LIKE THIS SITUATION TO BE INVESTIGATED AND JUSTICE. I DO NOT SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO HAVE A CAR THAT IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY AND COULD PUT MY LIFE AND OTHERS IN DANGER. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WAS NOT RIGHT. THE CAR EITHER GOES LEFT OR RIGHT WILL NOT STAY STRAIGHT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR A SECOND. THIS IS THE WORST DRIVING CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS JUST THE NEW STEERING SYSTEM AND YOU HAVE TO GET USE TO IT. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THIS WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS. WIND DIRECTION FROM EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT INCREASES THE EFFECT OF CONSTANTLY HAVING TO OVER-CORRECT TO COMPENSATE FOR THE CAR NOT GOING IN THE DIRECTION OF WHERE THE WHEEL IS POINTED. IT IS AS IF, WHEN THE CAR IS "ON CENTER" IT WILL THEN DRIFT LEFT OR RIGHT WITHOUT AFFECTING THE STEERING WHEEL. On May 9, 2014, I took in my 2014 Nissan Altima (which was still under warranty) to the dealership to repair the airbag sensor light since it came on even with someone in the passenger seat who weighed over 130 pounds. The Nissan service technician checked it and failed to duplicate the concern. Sometime after that, Nissan performed a recall on the sensor. After the recall, I again took the car in as the sensor still came on periodically incorrectly. This was on 10/11/16. At that time, they said the programming had not been completed and so they completed it. This also did not fix the sensor. I took it in again on May 10, 2017. The notes on the repair order say: "Customer states intermit when passenger is occupies in front passenger seat the passenger side air bag light comes on check and advise. No active codes. Performed zero point reset." Nothing was found again. Frustrated, I didn't know what to do. Fast forward to today (August 23, 2021), I took it in to finally resolve the issue as I am interested in selling it soon. I was shocked that they came back and said it would cost me $1010.68 to fix something that I have tried to get them to fix for 7 years. This faulty sensor is dangerous and they have refused to fix something that never worked from the start despite there being a recall.

THE STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED. I HAD TO PUSH HARD ON THE BRAKE. I STOPPED IT AND THERE WERE SKIDMARKS ON THE ASPHALT. I STOPPED THE CAR BEFORE IT SLAMMED INTO MY NEIGHBOR'S CAR. COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF, AIR BAGS LIGHTS TURNING OFF AND ON, THE AIR CONDITIONER INTERMITTINGLY WORKING WHENEVER IT CHOOSES, THE CIGARETTE LIGHTERS (BOTH) THAT I USE TO CHARGE MY PHONE NO LONGER WORKS, AND ACCELERATION NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY (TRANSMISSION ISSUE?). When I bought the car the headlights were dim they driver side headlight keeps burning out they said it wasn't covered under the warranty whatsoever but yet you can't see at night to drive if it is dark I cannot drive my car never have been able to since about it but yet Nissan says nothing's wrong with it hit the repairs on me this is not the first time I've made a complaint about this but it does no good
